A while back I think I posted a question about the automatic locking feature...basically mine stopped working and I wanted to know why. I never bothered to get it fixed, and lived without it. I was browsing through my owner's manual today and came across information about the headlights. Basically you can program them to stay on for a minute or so after you turn the car off or disable the feature. It got me thinking....I wonder if the automatic locking system is programmable? Sure enough, you can enable or disable it. So I followed the instructions and sure enough they work again. I just don't know how they were disabled in the first place. Oh well, nice to ha…

I figured with everything going on, this might be a good question to ask. I know quite a few people who normally buy new cars who haved just bought used cars (and an SUV). Has thst stuff going on changed your plans on what you planned to buy? Right now, it looks to be one new/one used. I really would like to upgrade the wife into something bigger (and to carry more of Zack's stuff), so a used Nox, Torrent or Liberty look like good choices..... As for me, A Cruze, Vibe (not sure why, as the wife no longer wants one), an Astra, and Mazda 3 (the new one) are on the current short list....

So I was browsing around the Chevy Mall and came across some cool stuff of the new camaro.... Then I saw this beauty HERE At first, I thought that the price was kinda steep but when i saw the 200 limited production it started to look really good. To top things off, I almost $h! a brick when I saw it at the Dream Cruise. Bottom line is there are 2 of them coming to my house, one for display, and one to be tucked away. I'm not a real serious gamer anymore, but I would like to get back into the scene. The Wii's price and ability to play old Nintendo games is definitely a plus, but the graphics aren't even in the same ball park as the others. With a big HDTV to play on, it seems like almost a waste to not go HD. The Wii just looks like a lot of fun. The PS3 is a lot more expensive but has Bluray, which makes it justifiable. Stuck on a sunny, dry 2-lane highway in a 55 mph zone doing 45 the other day, double yellow lines mocking my plight, behind a Toyota Highlander with a "HOW'S MY DRIVING" sticker with a car number and phone number. I was a little on edge Thursday, as I would be taking the Regal, with some 236,000 miles on it, up to Portland OR to park it in Mom's garage as I go to Europe and then come back to relocate/job hunt. I had a sensor and a tie rod end replaced the week prior, so I had spent some money on it. The tie rod cured the slight shimmy, but there was still a road drone which was atypical and it changed with the movement of the steering wheel. I said "WTF, I'm setting out on the 600 mile journey." So we had a pretty major winter storm here in New England last night. It's been crazy weather. Last weekend the temps were in the 10's and 20's, earlier this week they were almost 60 with one storm. Temps dropped back down with this storm that just passed over us, giving a good chunk of New England one of the worst Ice Storms in recent history. Apparently much of the area is without power, although we're lucky and still have it. Here's some photos from this morning. I'll say this: ice is dangerous but it sure looks pretty.

Since I can't seem to sell the damn thing, I've started riding it the past few days since the weather's been... well... not great, but not cold with temps around 60. It was a relieving experience since life has sucked for the past two months. I had fun. It was extremely muddy, though... the dirt roads were the muddiest I have ever seen them. The one was an absolute mud pit, but they were all mud pits. With practically bald tires, I slid all over the place, but it kept the amount of mud flinging down. So, I was surprised at all the muddier I got. Hmm... muddiest, muddier... are those even words? Anyways, I'll be getting it even more muddy today. Muahahaha...

Alcantara is best known for its use in performance cars like the BMW M3 because it holds drivers in their seats better than standard leather. It’s easy for us to guess that Chrysler’s SRT models and Cadillac’s V series will see Alcantara, but we’re mystified at which Mercury interior will get such treatment. My sister was rear-ended by an Eyewitness News truck late Friday night while merging onto a local highway. After the initial impact, the car was pushed sideways and eventually off the road completely. Thankfully, my sister is fine. Unfortunately, my car wasn't so lucky. The left rear quarter and entire driver's side underwent severe damage as a result of the initial impact. The suspension underwent minor to moderate damage and at least one of the right wheels was bent upon impact with the curb. About an hour ago, an F3 tornado touched down in the NW part of Ames. I haven't heard anything on the damage up there, but I got a pic of the tornado as it was going back up into the sky. I'm ok and the Iowa State campus was unaffected. They had to evacuate Jack Trice Stadium because people were there for the ISU - Colorado game. We never get tornadoes in November!

Going forward, do you think this type of efficient bundling of brands would allow the brands to remain distinctive? I actually do. That's providing the dealership features separate entrances for the brand showrooms and separate service advisors/areas for Cadillac owners & BPG owners. Perhaps I am wound a little too tight, but my Wife & I will soon be in the market for a midsize sedan, and nothing in GM's lineup appeals to either one of us. A big reason? GM's abandonment of traditional domestic style controls! I don't know if you guys have seen this episode yet, but the feature is their journey from Las Vegas to the Bonneville Salt Flats in a Corvette ZR1, Cadillac CTS-V, and Dodge Challenger SRT-8. I think its one of the their very best episodes. Our success though was not the biggest surprise on this trip. We came here wondering if America had finally made a car that might actually work in the civilized world. The answer is no, they haven't. As you can see from our smiles, they've made three.

Well, I finally purchased a project car after wanting one for at least 13 years. Here were my prerequisites: RWD, Manual, T-Tops or Convertible, Sporty, Cheap. I looked at a few cars, and was willing to make sacrifices if needed to. I looked at F-Bodies, G-Bodies, BMW 633's, Volvo 244's, and a few others that I decided against. Well, I'm going to play a game, who can guess the car? It met all of the above requirements. If y'all don't guess it quickly I will start to give hints. And technically I haven't bought it yet as it is still in another city.

Friday evening, I went to the show to check out some new metal and see people's impressions. Unfortunately, I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked- only about 1.5 hours. Here are some of my takes from it- Starting with my own brand, VW's display was a joke. The cars looked great, and they had good variety of trims, but there were some glaring omissions. I went to the DC auto show last night. The weather wasn't great and it was a Tuesday night, so it was pretty empty. Here are some random thoughts: The CTS-V interior is lame. The center stack has one big piece of plastic covering the whole thing, which felt cheap. Also the rear legroom was pathetic; there was more room in the Elantra and Golf. Also a serious lack of headroom. The Cruze is pretty good. It looks better in real life than in photos. The Camaro is too big. The Buick Verona is meh.
