This may be urban legend, but I understand drinking soymilk and taking zinc tablets can help you make a lot of... DNA material, to put it euphemistically. Is there a doctor in the house to confirm or deny?

Awesome, it will be a 3-day work week...with everyone most likely being "on demerol" the second half of the day on Wednesday, if not leaving early. I'm heading up to the PNW. It'll be a brunch with my Mom on TG Day. I'm seriously thinking of going up to Canada (Vancouver) for the remaining 3 days, seeing that gas is under $2 a gallon. What will you folks be doing? Be sure to be thankful for what you have, as some people aren't in good sorts these days and people in third world countries have next to nothing. Ok, off my soapbox....safe travels! Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, that was a fast year. Here are some of the things that happened in 2017: A new American President was sworn into office and found to be a truth-challenged, serial golfing narcissist whose primary goal appeared to be undoing all the achievements of his predecessor. His own crowning achievement was a windfall of wealth to corporate America and its officers at the expense of the lower and middle classes, future generations, and blue states. A series of hurricanes swept through the Gulf of Mexico and ravaged Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico, resulting in hundreds of billions of dollars in damages. The country's deadliest mass shooting occurred in Las Vegas a…

Yeah, I geeked the Pontiac lot this afternoon. I checked out everything up front, then glanced out back... and there it was. I don't even know how this happened, it just did. 2007 G6 GT coupe, in clean, pure white with ebony cloth, Sun&Sound package, chrome clads, and floormats. It just struck me. $23,965, I think it was. I envisioned it with the chrome lower GM accessory grilles. I stopped dead in my tracks. I pressed nose to glass. I slowly walked around to check it out from all angles. This is one sweet looking coupe. I'm in frickin' love. I want it so bad.

Hey guys, I'm thrilled to present you with C&G's very own 1st Annual Member's Rides Calendar. Because of the large amount of photo submissions, we have decided to offer you a choice of two different calendars. Here's a preview of what you can expect with your order. OPTION 1 OPTION 2 This is a pretty good representation of the reverse of the final product. Photos may be slightly edited or cropped to preserve the best quality in the final print. The order is (upper left to lower right) January through December. The calendar itself will be painted on satin or matte finish paper that is durable and high-quality yet easy to write on. Uh huh, so... I went to The Haircuttery to get a haircut. A young, winsome Goth chick I hadn't seen there before led me to her chair and asked me how I wanted it cut. I told her I usually get a high fade, 1 on the bottom, tapering into a 6 on top. Her sweet little face frowned, actually, her whole body sort of wilted. "You don't want me to use the scissors?" That second, I looked down at her backpack on the floor and noticed (with what must have been an audible gasp) a button pinned to it. "Is that Edward Scissorhands?" "Yes", she said, with a bit of embarrassment, and a bit of defiant pride. I shut up. I was trapped. Everything else is a blur. It'll grow ba…

General Motors’ Pontiac Solstice and Saturn’s Sky both posted massive numbers out of the sales gates, but at least one of the two sports cars’ fortunes are flagging. According to the New York Times, sales of the curvaceous Solstice have dropped 19 percent versus last year through the end of July, and GM suddenly has a glut of Pontiac-branded roadsters on its hands—nearly five months of inventory. Conversely, its under-the-skin twin, the Saturn Sky, continues to sell well, with a one-month inventory and an actual wait time for delivery. So what’s going on here? Author Nick Bunkley seems to feel it’s a product of Saturn’s rising star in GM’s portfolio, and Pontiac’s statu…

That I'll be able to order a new El Camino SS fairly soon. But, I'm thinking that I'll probably hold-off until the second production year. With all of the drivetrain advances happening so fast lately, I have a feeling that an engine upgrade will happen in the second or third year. Opinions? Other ideas/concerns? Another factor is that I'd like to be able to pay cash for it and I'll need some time to make that happen.

However not on the terms I had planned. Here goes. My brother started college in Dartmouth last fall, and wanted to come home weekends. Myself and my girlfriend agreed to make the 4 hour round trip to get him and my mother to trip to take him back. That was the agreement. What enede up happening is she was too lazy to do it herself, and we got stuck doing it every week, Fridays and Sundays until vacation. We had a talk, which she got pissy about, but in the end agreed yet again to do it 50/50. Fast forward to last week, I go with her to show her the way, but explain that my girfriend and I want to stay home, so neither one of us would join. This ment she'd drive the way…

Okay so for the past 4 years I've been driving 2/3 used cars of varying degrees at a time. Other than my Datsun the one commonality was they were all GM. From my 87 Fleetwood Brougham to my 83 Firebird, and from my 90 Suburban to my 86 Fleetwood Brougham.... lots and lots of buying and selling and I love it that way. Marcia had her STS for a daily driver but I wanted an all RWD fleet for myself. I did not need or want a modern car. I was happy having three cars that averaged out to over quarter of a century old. My Camaro was the toy muscle car, the Fleet- wood Brougham was my cushy daily driver/family car/baby limousine & the Datsun was for racking up …

My 2007 Silverado Classic Crew Cab was rear ended by a speeding Ford Exploder while stopped at a red light. It bent the frame at least where the tow hitch attaches and pushed the bed into the cab. The drivers side rear door doesn't close all the way anymore. The rear window broke but since I recently had my windows tinted it stayed in one piece. I don't know yet if it will be totaled yet. It will never be the same so I would rather have a new truck. My back and neck are sore but I came out ok so far. It hurt most when I see my truck. I shrunk a picture down a bit to show the damage.

So... I got a call on my cell phone on my way home from work today. It made me pull over - the first time I've ever had to. First, a little background. Some of you may remember, I went to China in late April / early May. While there, I picked up a girl in Beijing named Fei Fei (yes, you say it like the dogs name, let the jokes commence). She was really into me as I left for Nanjing. She came with my friends and I to the train station and everything. I've never seen a girl so torn up over a one night stand before. Different cultures, different reactions, I guess. So, she gave me her phone number, since I'd be on my way through Beijing on my last night there before flying…

On October 1, the Pentagon, for the first time ever, dedicated an Army force specifically to NorthCom, which is in charge of securing not some foreign region but the United States of America. The Pentagon’s decision to dedicate the First Brigade Combat Team to NorthCom has raised alarms, especially in the context of the current economic crisis. In Bush’s National Security Presidential Directive 51, he lays out his authority in the event of a catastrophic emergency. In such an emergency, “the President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government” and will coordinate with state, local, and tribal governments, along with priva…

Okay, so I've been saying this for a few years now... tv show theme songs are gone. I don't even know why it's so important, but at any given moment, you can hum a theme from a tv show anytime between the 50's through the early 2000's, and everyone knows what it you're talking about. Most smile and join in. TV shows now don't have theme songs (at least most of them). They have a title screen at most. Some don't even do that and scroll credits during the beginning of the episode. Am I the only one who misses theme songs? The reason I bring it up is because again the discussion surfaced tonight when my cell went off ringing to the theme of The Office, and people ch…

Today at lunch, I had to go past the local BPG dealership. I immediately noticed a nice looking '09 Vibe GT in Mystic Blue with sunroof. Mystic Blue is a sort of teal color, and with the handsome 18" GT rims, it was by far the best looking new Vibe I've seen yet. After work, I decided to stop in and take a test drive. "My" salesdude was there who sold me my truck. He stuck a dealer tag on the car and I drove it off the dealer's front lawn. The Vibe GT is pretty much a loaded vehicle, with a long list of standard stuff, including cloth seats with leather trim and a kickass Monsoon sound system. The 5-speed manual transmission and clutch work fine together. The 2.4…

OK, thawed out a huge chunk of premium hamburger. Fired up the indoor 18,000 BTU gas grill and formed some supple, thick meat patties. Cooked them medium well over the hot gas flame and briquets. Hint of CHAR. Still a bit juicy. The 600 cfm hood could barely keep up. Gotta get rid of the critters before you put that meat in your mouth you know. Thawed out a nice wheat bun and a couple of my mother law's home made (with LARD!) buns. My mother in law has great buns. Lightly toasted. No ketchup bull$h!. Several members have little projects going on, I figured I'd have a thread for mine. This will be an ongoing thread, if for no other reason than because I like documenting my progress. After building my own mower and rekindling an hobby I had when I was younger, I thought it might be fun to fix and flip mowers for some extra crash and as something to do. I went from having no lawn mower to having 6! Not sure how that even happened but that's ok. The first one is of course the Brute, which is my keeper. To build it I was given a donor mower with a good engine that needed TLC and a well used but still solid deck. After that was finished I came across a couple of mo…

Left to Right: 1990 Chevrolet Suburban, 2wd 1500 (XP715's daily driver) 1987 Chevrolet Suburban, 2wd 1500 (our friend Robert's winter beater) 1995 GMC Suburban, 4x4 1500 (Tall-Paul's daily driver) 1995 Chevrolet Suburban, 4x4 1500 (my newest winter whip) All four are powered by Chevrolet 350s. All but Robert's beater have barn doors. You might recall that Tall Paul was the 4th TWCC member to joi…

I've noticed recently a rash of posters sixty8 who fail to properly punctuate, or use any punctuation at all. It makes your posts verry difficult to read which increases the liklihood your posts will be skipped over. First things first, the first letter of the first word of a sentence is capitalized, that means it is bigger, i.e. Y as compared to y. At the end of a sentence, place a period or a question mark (looks like this--> ?) if your sentence is a question. Its basic grammar, not too hard most people who aren't from Alabama have been doing it since 2nd grade. Now please, it isn't too hard, so do it.

I think that in less than twenty years, McDonalds will run out of skinny people for their commercials and switch to a marketing campaign that basically suggests, "Hey, everyone else is eating here, you might as well, too!" Seriously, has anyone ever seen an even slightly overweight person chowing down on a Big Mac in their commercials? You will definitely never see a fat kid with a happy meal. Ignore it and it will all go away.

Just wondering, since I seem to see a lot of Ford, Chrysler, Toyota, and BMW fans here mixed in with us GM guys. I also wonder what draws some of the non-GM types here.

So after sitting at the shop for over a week, they finally looked over the Intrepid. For those of you who don't know, it's been parked in the driveway since late November, when on our way home we could hear the timing chains contacting things they shouldn't because they were so loose. So it rested quietly for the winter, besides when I went out to start it, until I could get it fixed. I got a call around 2 telling me to come down to the shop. What they showed me was that the oil was milky...which meant that the headgasket had failed. How long ago it failed I'm not sure, but odds are it's been long enough to do damage. This, coupled with the fact that it needs timing cha…

As promised months ago here's the two 59 Buicks that are slowly returning back to nature in a Junkyard in New England. The cars are saddly waaaaaaay past saving and as a matter of fact they're almost useless even for any parts. Tomorrow I'll try to get around to posting some more classic car pics from this "outdoor car museum", many of them from the 1930s & 1940s. The location of this junkyard is a family secret of XPs & I feel priviledged to have earned his "trust" enough for him to share it with me. It's amazing to see several hundred "classics" just siting in the middle of the woods. The proprietors of this salvage yard are true heroes of mine…

Been seeing a Tesla or two lately, and this morning I spotted a Fisker Karma out for a cruise. Really a striking car in person, too bad about their situation.

My top three favorites: --- Chuck Norris has already been to Mars, that's why there's no signs of life. --- Chuck Norris ate an ENTIRE birthday cake once before his friends could stop him & tell him there was a stripper inside. --- Chuck Norris' calendar goes from March 31st right to April 2nd. Why...? Because f***ing NOBODY fools Chucj Norris! --- Post any good ones YOU know/find.

im leaving and not coming back anytime soon C&G to me has lost a lot of the comradery that it had in the beginning and honestly some of the better people left because other people are still here and the same names come up again and again . . . so im out not sad to leave . . . there are only a few i would say i still have some respect for left here and those people probably have a good idea who they are because they are very few and far between

Hey guys, so it is getting to be that time where I should start getting ideas of which car to purchase as my first one. I am turning sixteen in a few months (when I get my permit; a little early to look, yes, but it doesn't hurt), and I need to get a job, haha. I have about 1800 in the bank (not too terrible for someone my age) and I need to be able to afford insurance plus the car. Does anyone have a good idea of a cheap, reliable car that is also sporty and fuel-efficient (at least twenty-two mpg)? Thanks in advance, your guys' opinions really help!

Sorry if a similar post is already up, but I need to know. What day are we all settled on, what time do we plan on meeting, exactly what spot? I think we should determine it by what day Detroit starts for the general public. But I have a feeling it's after LA is all done this year. Who has that info?

I just got back from Quebec. Went to "Second Cup" every morning and did my to do lists and written chores while drinking some good cups of tea. I like the Earl Grey flavor. The basic breakfast blend is good too. I absolutely detest herbal teas. Drinking a hot beverage to start off a cool morning in Montreal was great! At a more formal breakfast, I may get both the orange juice and the tea. I don't drink much coffee, though. What's your morning drink of choice?

Oh... Where to start? I suppose I'll be blunt. It broke down yet again. This time, with me. As you know, I haven't gotten the miss fixed with my Millenia, so when I want to go out of town, I'll take the Sunfire. That's what I did last night. I basically needed something to do since I wasn't able to take it down to Carlisle. I took it to Dubois to look at cars and hang out with a friend instead. Things were going good for most of the night. Found a few cars to drool over, found some to laugh at, and I found some that I don't see often. Went to Burger King where a friend of mine works and got free food and a free milkshake. Had fun... After that, I head home. I decide…

Hypothetical situation: you travel a good distance 5 days a week by car to and from your job. You are in the market for a new vehicle. Do you buy an inexpensive, economical vehicle since higher mileage at trade-in tends to affect resale value, and you know you'll take a hit, so why not get into a "throw-away" vehicle with a modicum of comfort and fun for the weekends? Or do you go with something bigger, nicer and more expensive BECAUSE you spend so much time in your vehicle, and that time should be spent in something with bells and whistles to make the slog more enjoyable and the weekends even more so? Seeking opinions.

I've become somewhat of a YouTube addict recently, so I thought I would create a thread (Much like the "What Are You Listening To" thread) where we could post cool and random stuff from YouTube. Here are a few of my favs. (Most of these will be heavy metal related because that's what kick I'm on right now) But I'd like to see a variety of cool things. The 1930 metal eating bird is kind of what inspired the topic. WARNING: virtually all of the metal vids contain profane language, so be prepared. MOSH PITS: 1) This is DevilDriver, one of my favorite bands, at the Download festival in 2007. What's significant is the size of the "circle pit" (Mosh pit where every…

I work with this dope who LOVES Hondas. He thinks that they are God's gift to cars. I mean really, this guy told me how one of the sickest and fastest cars on the street right now is the last gen. Prelude. According to him a TSX is the best sport sedan on the market. But here's the kicker... he drives a '96 Dodge Neon. Today he told me how his Neon is stupid-quick, quite the sleeper. What mods has he performed you ask? He installed a cam from an Intrepid. I - kid - you - not - ! Honda: for those too dumb to own Mopar.

It's 11:00pm & by 3:45am I'll be preloading UPS trucks so I'll make this juat a quick synopsis for now: XP715 bought a 1977 Cadillac off of me last May, as you probably already know. I had nicknamed it the "Banana Boat" since it was Naples Yellow, my daughter Sofia, who was then 3 years old LOVED the car. She was legitematelly upset with me when I sold it. Over the past few months I've been thinking more and more that I miht want the '77 back... but meantime I kept myself busy with my usual car-orgy of buying & selling. But after having owned 40+ cars in my 12+ years since I turned driving age the Banana Boat remained the biggest case of "t…

Land Cruiser. At least that's what somone who saw it happen said it was. This is my second parked car accident and I'm just whatever. Went into Sweetbay (grocery store) to get a few things while I was over in Tampa and I come out to see my front end smashed with the hood crumpled up. One lady said she saw a "big Toyota Cruiser SUV" pull out pretty fast. I asked if it looked cheap or expensive, she said expensive, so its a Land Cruiser. I called the Tampa Police who sent an auxillary officer to inform me that they couldn't do much without the tag, real witnesses, etc. He said my best course of action would be to report it to insurance. Riiiiight. That went so well last ti…

Once my toys are gone I'll be needing something other than my Silverado to drive. I'm leaning toward a wagon (dog transporter) but I'd like it to be fun in one way or another. So, wrack your brains and post your suggestions (with a pic if possible) No, 68, that doesn't mean an entire catalog-just one pic. :AH-HA_wink: Remember, I have dial-up. Have fun with this thread, but be serious once in a while too. Jokes allowed but real suggestions appreciated. Now go to it C&G!

We've got dozens of other dumb threads, why not another? This thread is dedicated to those little quotes that make your day. Maybe someone says something so stupid, it makes you smile to think about it. Maybe its something so profound, or maybe its something so insanely funny that you think you're going to asphyxiate from laughing. Here is mine: "Why? I dont even like camping" --A girl I know after I told her she was getting a dutch oven for her birthday.

Commuting to work this morning, I thought this was a joke. But it's true. The San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, the "workhorse" of the bridges in the Bay Area, is closed. This one connects to the city to the East Bay where millions of people live in Oakland, Berkeley, and many other towns. (The postcard bridge, the Golden Gate, connects the city to more remote, way more expensive and less populous areas). Unlike almost exactly 20 years ago (Oct 17, 1989) when the Loma Prieta Quake popped a section out of the roadway, this time, there was no natural disaster. A connecting rod on the "East Span," which they are actually replacing with an entirely new bridge as we spe…

Do you guys have a good deal of interference with knowing many languages? I mean, I'm taking Spanish, it's my fourth language, and I'm just at wits end here... I'm spelling common words in English wrong and speaking Italian in class. I mean, I'm doing the basics such as writing: quale, quando, che, when it should be cuale, cuando, que, etc. I spelled photo on the scrabble board as foto. I can NOT get the accent down in Spanish at all. Then I get frustrated and curse at the professor in Italian. Fortunately, he finds it funny. Does it go away? I never had it this bad when I was learning French or Italian. And the worst.. I though it'd be easiest to relate ev…

So here's the deal. In November 2006 my partner started having an affair with a 68 year old rich guy. Those of you who know me well enough know that I'm not exactly hurting for money. After a few months of painfully trying to reconcile Chas and I finally split in the middle of February 2007. This, in effect, devastated me. I can't even look at an ad for a retirement home without wanting to vomit. Not only did I lose Chas, but I lost the family that came with him. I was very close to his parents.... his dad especially. I have no family here in Pittsburgh. I also lost a number of friends in the "divorce" leaving me feeling even more isolated. In the meantime, Ch…
