With GM's very acute attention to design and detail in our newest models both on the inside and outside (Camaro in particular, Equinox, Malibu, Invicta, etc.), it only makes me anticipate a new generation of Corvette even more, especially with the CAFE hype hitting and saying the Corvette might be smaller, lighter, and on Alpha. However, my biggest focus is on interior/exterior design. What are you guys expecting?

I just saw a commercial for the Cobalt touting its "better than Honda Civic" fuel economy. This is misleading. They're taking the EPA rating of the manual Civic at 34 highway mpg and comparing it the the Cobalt XFE's 36 highway mpg while ignoring that the city rating is better for the Civic 26 vs 25 and the mix is the same at 29. Further, the automatic Civic has the same exact EPA ratings as the Cobalt XFE manual, a low-take option in the real world. Does "truth in advertising" mean anything to these ad people? GM, stop taking shortcuts and produce a higher mileage car. OR, compare what you've got to something that has less economy, e.g., the Focus (by one mpg).

Okay, so here's what I'm saying... For the base model V6: 3.6L DOHC with VVT & DI Why? It's perfect. It'll be production-ready by 2008, it'll make enough power to annihilate Ford's most potent V6 up to date (3.6L @ 265 HP/250 TQ), and will offer good enough MPG/emissions to make even Honda buyers go American. For the smaller V8: I don't really know. I'd like to think a more up-to-date 5.3L than the current one with a bit more power, but I really have no idea. Ideas from you guys? For the larger V8: 6.2L LS3 with VVT/AFM I'd definitely say a 6.2-6.3L LS3 (whatever amount of liters it will be) making around 425-450 HP is very possible. Especially with how great…

If all goes well, I'll be looking for a used 4x4 Silverado/Sierra 2500HD truck in a few weeks. A crew Crew Cab or Extended Cab is a must, but the bed length doesn't matter. I know all about Holden Utes, but except for driving a 2002 model Extended Cab, Long Bed, 2WD Silverado 2500HD across the US a few years ago, the Chevy/GMC trucks are something I have very little experience with. So we were in Fitchburg looking at a house (which was an interesting story in and of itself). On our way out of the city we passed by a Chevrolet dealership. On the lot was an Equinox FCV. I thought that was both very cool and quite peculiar. I was not expecting to see one of these in person, least of all at a dealership in some unimportant medium-sized city.

Hey all, I am looking at buying a 2006 Malibu LS 4cyl with 11000 verified KMs on the clock, for $13000.......Good Buy?? The story is that the previous owner leased it from the dealer I am buying it from (who I do trust by the way) and then got a job in Europe taht she didn't think she was going to get. She had to move and the car got returned to the dealer and she paid the penalties (the new employer actually did). Thoughts?

I knew they were hunting this guy! How dumb do you have to be? Whenever you walk into an automaker's factory or engineering facility, there are signs prominently displayed letting everyone know that cameras and camera phones are prohibited. Unfortunately for an electrician at the General Motors Assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario where the Camaro is due to begin production late this year he ignored the warning. Didn't they say they needed to sell 160,000 a year to make a business case for it? Well I can see the Camaro selling well at first, but with gas at $4.30+ I don't exactly seeing it achieving those numbers. Maybe if gas was still at the $3.15 range... What do you guys think? Wouldnt this be a good time to think about bringing back the Metro to production? this car got 58 mpg in 1992!! I know we have the Aveo but its no better than a Cobalt in mileage. id say lets bring over the 3 door aveo and put a 1.0L 3cyl in the engine bay and bam we have ourselves a 50 MPG car.. this car didnt sell really well in 1992 because gas was $1.25 a gallon, it WOULD sell with gas near $4.00 a gallon.

Back when gasoline was still $2.00 a gallon, GM threw all their weight behind the GMT-900s to get the vehicles out early. We haven't had a major change since the C4. The C5 was basically a much nicer C4 and the C6 is a bulgier C5. Do you think the C7 will be a C6 evolution or will it be likely to have a radical change like the C2 to C3?

Does anyone have Malibu production numbers? I know Autonews has them, but I'm no longer a subscriber. I'd like to know because my dealer can't seem to keep more than 2 in stock at a time. They delivered 3 today and have another one on Friday, and therefore only have two left on the lot. I've never seen more than 3 on the lot at once, and every time I see that they get an LTZ in, I go the next day to see it and it's sold... I say: 1) Convert Fairfax only to Malibu for a while. My Saturn dealer has 20 Auras. That should last them at least a few months. 2) Convert Orion to 70% Malibu production. The G6 doesn't sell very well anyways, and it does so with huge incentive…

Yes, yes, the Impala was launched in 1958 as a subseries of the topline Bel-Air in 2-door hardtop coupe and 2-door soft-top convertible body styles (the others were the Delray and Biscayne, which respectively replaced 150/210 for the one-year-only design, then Delray in name only was dropped and Biscayne and Bel-Air were downshifted to the previous levels), but it was 1959 when Impala displaced the Bel-Air as a series name, thus the 50th anniversary. The Impala shown looked like it had 80U Red Jewel Tintcoat paint and it looks to be based on one of the LT trims with a FlexFuel V-6 (unless that's an Anniversary Edition Badge or such). http://www.autodeadline.com/detail…

In a case of what appears to be semantics, Chevy has revealed that the Camaro will now be a 2010 model, rather than a 2009 model. The semantic part is that the car will go on sale in the spring of 2009, yet still be called a 2010 Camaro. The reason the car won't go on sale earlier in 2009 is because Chevy says "it would have meant a short model run before changeover to "10 production". So we aren't sure how the car could go on sale earlier in 2009 unless Chevy began selling it in the rather un-Camaro-like season of winter. It means nothing to most of us but my buddies are telling me theres several Camaros on the Shakers (simulates pot holes and road surfaces) and Door slamming machines so its getting there. I just noticed something weird about the Camaro. Most cars, and even the concept, have their calipers behind the front rotor and ahead of the rear rotor. The production car looks to have its calipers behind both rotors. So, I made a chop of what I hope to one day see, a Saleen Camaro (please comment on this chop's design HERE): Then I did a little Saleen S281 (Mustang) research. S281 stands for the Saleen version of Ford's 281 cubic inch 4.6L V8 in the Mustang GT. The Saleen S281's performance specs are as follows (stage: "name of stage" -- horsepower/torque): Ford Mustang GT -- 300/320 S281 Stage 1: "3-Valve" -- 330/340 S281 Stage 2: "Supercharged" -- 435/425 S281 Stage 3: "Extreme" -- 550/500 However, the Mustang only uses one V8 and we're counting on the Camaro having two from the factory.
