from melodicrock.com This is ridiculous - they can't just go into the studio together and jam. Everything has to involve lawyers, contracts, and paperwork. They're a joke that's been running for 11 years....remember when they used to be such a tight, yet carefree party band (with both Dave and Sammy)? You have to feel sorry for their fans, they've been teased way too many times.

Don't give me lists of cars to add, or switch, or eliminate for each brand, instead describe the approach you would take and the framework of that approach.

Had to get some attention grabbing title in there . "Chairman Mao Zedong, a fan of the red but not so much of the white or the blue, once said, “I got more hoes than the ozone.” Oh wait, it might have been Abraham Lincoln who said that. The quote we were Google-searching for from Chairman Mao was something about asymmetric warfare, about how a fighter must move amongst the people as a fish swims in the sea, which is way more poetic and stuff. And what we have here is a classic asymmetric fight; a battle in which one side is conventionally powerful and established and the other is a fish. All of this brings us inextricably to the showdown that neither Chevrol…

  40. WASHINGTON - Employers ramped up hiring in March, driving the unemployment rate down to 4.4 percent, matching a five-year low. It was a surprisingly strong performance in an economy that has otherwise shown signs of sluggishness recently. The new snapshot, released by the Labor Department on Friday, also showed that employers boosted their payrolls by a strong 180,000 in March, the most since December. Workers’ also saw their paychecks get bigger. The fresh figures suggested that companies are not feeling a need to dramatically clamp down on hiring in the face of the slower overall economic activity and the deep housing slump. “There’s been worry that housing troubles…

With many four-cylinder cars now making really big power, and V6s having mpg like V8s without the power, couldn't the automakers dispense with many of the V6 applications? Might that not create an efficiency situation that would allow for V8 cars to fit more easily under the new CAFE regs while keeping the formerly V6-powered cars at similar power levels while dramatically increasing the CAFE numbers? Just a thought.

Do you have weird requests for food orders that raise eyebrows or elicit sighs from the wait staff or order takers for fast food? Here's a couple of mine: 1. Beverage: 50/50 mix of regular Coke and Diet Coke 2. Bevarage: "easy ice," to get more content, ideally 3. Onions withheld on anything that would have them as a condiment 4. Heavy pickles, olives and tomatoes on anything that would have them as a condiment 5. Side of bleu cheese for dipping my fries (without fail at Bob's Big Boy restaurants) Do you have any such requests (or quirks)?

So I am tooling to work in my Tahoe and suddenly realized a startling fact - out of the 10 cars that were around me on a three lane highway - me and a Pontiac GP were the lone GM cars!!! 2 out of 10! Toyotas were everywhere - including a new white Turdra Doublecab! This is the heartland, and for this many Toyota's on the road in this area it just makes me sad. It doesn't help that the big GM dealers in this area are owned by the same company and they are all A-holes to deal with...but I hate to see this many Japanese cars here in what was a GM stronghold. Anyone else out there having the same problem?

"The oil change may be about to endure a change of its own. A big motor-oil maker plans to announce Thursday that it has achieved a breakthrough in engine-lubrication design that makes it easy to change the oil in a vehicle in as little as 90 seconds, Castrol, a division of BP, says the modification over current designs also lowers carbon emissions and fosters recycling. The new system, which Castrol has dubbed Nexcel, must be integrated into vehicle engines at the design stage. That means it won't hit mainstream cars for another five years — about the length of time between major model changes for many automakers. Castrol said it's in discussions with…

Between the death of a beloved/valued member on one of my heart boards and a phone call from a friend who I haven't heard from in a long time because he is no longer on any message board, it has been quite an interesting week. These instances reminded me of several members from all of the different boards who either are truly no longer with us, or just have "fallen off the face of the earth" due to not posting or visiting the forums anymore.... When I notice people haven't posted in a while, I'll wonder what happened to 'em and hope/pray that all is well. Heh ... given a few other things going on now and over the course of the last month or so, I've thought about takin…

I bought 50 shares of Ford today @ $5.10, my first trade in the stock market. After the yesterday's earnings tumble (F lost about $.90) and the Ford's outlook the next couple years, I feel like it's a pretty solid investment. I'm planning on buying more soon, and hopefully some GM in a few months after I have some time to watch it. I went through ShareBuilder.com and it's pretty easy to use considering I have no previous experience with stock markets. Does anyone else hold any automotive stock? Or just stock in general?

Anybody ever bought something off the TV that didn't turn out to be total crap? Maybe it was actually worth more than what you paid for it? I saw a commercial once for a product called the Perfect Pushup, and then forgot about it for a while until I saw it in Wal-Mart for $20. A buddy of mine had it and liked it, so I decided to try it out since it was on sale (usually $40). It's probably been the best twenty bucks I've spent; it's durable and I have actually seen results with it. I use it almost every day and had added about 2 or 3 inches to the circumference of my arms and my whole upper body is toned. I've been using it for about 7 months now. Even if it broke …

Not a good way to end the week, this. On Friday I was on my way home from picking up some lunch before I had to go to work. Car up ahead was stopped waiting to turn left. I stopped and a Neon behind me stopped. Some ass clown in a Mountaineer didn't notice and ran right into the neon, which ran into me. The neon apparently kept rolling until it came to rest across the street half way on the sidewalk. A mix of disbelief and extreme anger overcame me. The only thing I said to in the direction of the Mountaineer driver was "What the f*ck?! You hit my f*cking car!" Called the police, home, and work, and stayed by the car. if I had gone over to the Mountaineer owner i would…

I guess I'm kind of picky when it comes to coffee. Certain Tim Hortons make it right, and others I've actually brought it back to the counter and told them to make another one that's not burnt. I notice that sometimes I'm drinking the same coffee as others, they don't mind and I do. On the other hand I'm no connisseur either, I won't buy Starbucks coffee (which is just overly bitter anyways). The coffee here at my building sucks. I asked my boss one day how the coffee was when he was drinking it, and he said "Hot and brown". I guess those are the only nice things he could find to say. Somehow a description of coffee that would also fit poop kind of bothers me. So... a…

When I moved into my current house, I bought my 2WD RC/LB F-150. I worked in graphic design then, but I needed a truck for around-house work, hauling firewood, car parts, towing, etc. In '06, now in my 6th year of construction/excavation, going off-road on job sites, plus now having 2 sons, required me to get at least a crew cab/4WD truck, so I did (2nd hand '04). Forward to today, no longer in excavation but still doing contractor/construction... I occasionally ponder vehicle requirements, esp once a current driver approaches 100K. 2500HD has 91K+, gets a steady 16 MPG, is pretty big to drive around (doesn't bother me, but Jersey is getting tighter all the time). Good…

  88. so i guess, im thinking ahead, but i need to get everything in order. heres the low down, my wife wants a new car, i told her when i come back from this deplyoment we'd start looking. currently she is driving an 00 honda civic 4 dr. she has always wanted to get a bmw. she doesnt really care to much which kind, just a bmw. although the car will be for her, i would rather have a g8. does this seem like a winable arguement. seeing that pontiac is supposed to be the american bmw, and the g8 is in some terms considered the 5 series fighter, what points can be considered better product on the g8 over a bmw (3 series, cause i cant afford a 5.) lets say for comparison …

With the recent gas prices spiralling have been doing a non scientific experiment to find out how much driving habits can change the fuel economy. Reading those news about people getting 50 mpg in a regular four banger Accord makes you think how do people claim this surreal number. Is it true or it is a banal trick played by the import humpers. Websites like these Gas Savers make me try to validate this claim. So here goes my experiment. I will just give the data, you folks decide what to claim from it. The Precursors: 1. I keep a pretty close if not up to the decimal tab on my fuel economy numbers. For the previous miles, before the experiment, my three cars have aver…

  93. Mazda and BMW Promise Hydrogen Cars by 2008 Date posted: 03-24-2006 DETROIT — Mazda has delivered the first two hydrogen-powered RX-8s to corporate customers in Japan, while BMW has confirmed plans to bring a hydrogen-powered 7 Series to market within two years. Mazda showed a hydrogen-powered rotary engine in the RX-8 last fall at the Tokyo Motor Show, and the company, in fact, has been working on such engines for nearly 20 years. The two recent test cars were leased to Idemitsu Kosan in Tokyo and Iwatani International in Osaka, both participants in the government-sanctioned Japan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Demonstration Project. 95. MASSILON, Ohio - Evidence of the slumping economy is stacking up at an Ohio school which has nearly 700 applications for one open janitorial job. Officials at Perry Local Schools near Canton in northeast Ohio say they've extended the deadline until Monday to accommodate the overwhelming response to the week-old posting. The full-time position at Edison Junior High School pays $15 to $16 an hour plus benefits. Superintendent John Richard says many applicants are laid-off workers with heart-wrenching stories about the tough economic times. Donna Croston, 49, said she applied after losing jobs at two nearby factories that closed. Croston said her chances of being h…

What if small groups in a given locale were to form cooperatives to support small scale ethanol production from local feedstocks? Say, for example, a local car club splits the cost of running a small scale facility with paid staff and the equiptment required to produce enough fuel for all of the members on a non-profit basis? Just a thought. :AH-HA_wink: ...at least for now.
