While driving back from one of my friends in Atlanta I saw a Turdra for sale at a CHEVY dealership. Now it would not have caught my eyes if it was the older one, but it was the 2007! That's right, the "used" BIG 2007 Turd was on sale at a Chevy dealership . Wonder which moron bought it and decided to get rid of it in less than a quarter year. If GA has taxes like FL does, that dude spent 4,000k only on taxes in less than 3 months, provided he bought a similarly equipped Silverado, wow what an investment. I am going to check and see if Autotrader has a listing for this Turd. That was priceless.

Here is the ad: Prius Ad about Fresno HERE This is from the Fresno Bee http://www.fresnobee.com/263/story/188063.html Toyota isn't getting a lot of mileage out of a new ad campaign for its fuel-efficient Prius -- at least not in Fresno. The commercial, which implies that you would only stop here if you were low on gas, is sparking rebukes from Central Valley residents, city officials and even U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein. And now Toyota is issuing a recall for the TV spot, which the company admits was ill conceived. "I did not like it one bit," said Fresno Mayor Alan Autry, who complained to Feinstein's office, prompting a "scathing" missive from the senator to Toyo…

Prius can't pass Georgia emissions test Eco-conscious drivers in Georgia are finding out that the grass isn't necessarily greener on their side of the fence. 2007 is the first year drivers of the 2004 Prius are required to get their cars tested for emissions. You'd think the clean-running hybrid would have no problems breezing through the exam. But, as CNN reports, no matter how many times Georgia drivers try to test one, they all fail. Huh? Well, sorta. It's more like the Prius refuses to take the test. When the Prius is set to idle at 2,500 rpm on the tester, it does what it's supposed to do. It shuts off the engine to save fuel. Georgia's pre-hybrid equipment issues …

What about when I take a left in front of oncomming vehicles? Or perhaps when I'm passing someone? I'm not too keen on this just being a notification and not a recall..

Prius Family Growing Larger? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 30, 2011 Toyota hasn't hidden the face they are looking to expand the Prius family. Back at the North American International Auto Show in January, the company showed off three models; a Prius plug-in, a five seat Prius minivan , and a compact Prius concept. But it looks like more models will be coming as well. One of the models Toyota is looking at is building a Prius sports coupe, which will compete with Honda's CR-Z hybrid. The coupe will use the RWD platform from the upcoming Lexus GS. The coupe will also get a new plug-in setup which featuring lithium-ion batterie…

PITTSBURGH—Toyota has recently made headlines due to a problem with the accelerator sticking on certain vehicles. Nineteen fatalities have been linked to the issue, and Toyota has recalled 2.3 million cars in the U.S. for repairs, which has caused a sense of panic for recalled car owners and the general public. To put things in perspective, Carnegie Mellon University Professor Paul Fischbeck, a risk expert, calculated the risk of driving a recalled Toyota and found that the accelerator problem increases the driving risk by only 2 percent. "There hasn't been a discussion about the actual risk of driving one of Toyota's recalled vehicles," said Fischbeck, a professor of so…

RAV4 Owners Fume Over Toyota’s Handling of Transmission Glitch By Christopher Jensen Although consumer satisfaction studies have often given Toyota’s RAV4 “cute ute” high marks for quality, some owners are furious at the automaker because it failed to warn them of a serious transmission problem. Had Toyota warned them, they say, they could have avoided expensive repairs. Benjamin Birkbeck of Yarmouth, Me., who owns a 2002 RAV4, is one of those consumers. His wife, Rhonda, was trying to merge into traffic when a suddenly faulty transmission meant she was “almost run over by a semitruck,” he wrote in a complaint on the Center for Auto Safety Web site. “This is a safet…

SO, I got blessed with a RAV4 for a couple days on a work trip. I was in no mood to try and negotiate what I really wanted this trip with all sorts of folks queued up at the rental joint, so I just let fate cast its ugly hand. OMG, the irony. Me forced into a hoyotha. And a p*$$y ute nonetheless. Well, let's just say I ain't buyin one by any stretch. And believe or not, this was one of the only Toyota's I've been ok with saying 'class leader' and 'I am fine with it'. Just remember folks, try before you buy........ (more to come)

Recall: 30K Scion tCs for Side Airbag Problem Toyota Motor Corp. said Tuesday it was recalling about 30,000 Scion tC sports coupes over concerns that the side air bags could inadvertently deploy if the door is slammed forcefully. The recall affects about 20 percent of the tCs produced during the 2005 and 2006 model years, Toyota said. The vehicle is only sold in the United States. The automaker said seat-mounted side air bags and side curtain air bags could deploy if the door on that side of the vehicle is closed forcefully while the ignition is on or within 90 seconds of when the ignition is turned off. Recalling Toyota's Recalls: Over 14 million in past 12 months, 25.6 million since January 2005 November 1, 2010 - Drew Dowdell - Chief Editor CheersandGears.com No one can argue that it hasn't been a roller-coaster year for the world's largest car company. It was a year ago tomorrow that Toyota issued it's largest recall ever for possible gas pedal entrapment caused by loose floor mats. That initial recall of 3.8 million vehicles seemed to unleash a blizzard of further recalls. In the past 12 months, the grand total for Toyota's recalls has been more than 14 million units. To put that in some perspective, there were only 10.4 million vehicles sold, by all manufactu…

Review: 2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid The 2008 Highlander Hybrid is an exceptionally versatile package that allows you to haul the kids and their lanky pals in happy comfort without experiencing unnecessary gas pump trauma. It's always quiet and hassle-free, just like the neighbor's kid (not your own), and its green-friendly powertrain takes some of the guilt out of the constant motorized errands that are part of raising a young family. It's comfortable and useful without being so precious that you're afraid of parking it somewhere a rogue supermarket cart might find you. Reviews: 2007 Toyota Tundra Toyota really got serious with this one, and it shows. If you've previously discounted the Tundra because it wasn't big enough or had a toy engine, think again. If you've never considered one before, have a look. More good choices are great for consumers, and since this one has been born, bred and built in the USA, there's no reason to feel guilty about it. Edmunds Full Test --- In general, this is a big brawny half-ton truck that seems to be moving into three-quarter-ton truck territory. So we went to the annual Topsfield Fair in MA today, which is sponsored by Toyota. I saw a Yaris and an FJ Cruiser, but what really cought my eye was a Tundra prototype. I have to admit, in person it looks much better and less ungainly than in any of the photis. I still think the headlights seem a bit small for the truck, but oh well. So I start asking the Toyota Representative about the truck. I ask if he knows how much HP the 5.7 liter V8 has. He says they haven't released official numbers yet, but in a comarison test with the Silverado, F-150, an Ram 1500 Laramie with a "5.6 liter Hemi" it beat them "by like 8 cars spaces" to 60 mph. I had to point out that the Hemi w…

I went to a Houston Rockets game last night and they had a 2007 Tundra all under wraps set to be unveiled at halftime. Kinda bugged me how much they were promoting it as a "Truck built in Texas, by Texans, for Texans.". It looked smaller in real life than it does in the pic, and the slight angle on the rear pillars make the extended cab look really short. On another note, I read in Motor Trend that Toyota delayed the Tundra when it heard that the Silverado was debuting with two interiors. They felt they needed to make their interior more upscale with nicer materials. lol.

Scion Contemplates New Segments Scion will step up its efforts to attract young customers, with products in additional segments and a streamlined purchasing process, reports Scion Corporate Manager Steve Haag. Haag refused to name which segments Scion is considering, but he acknowledged the company's intentions to expand its product range. "It is the only thing that makes sense," he said. "Youth want lots of different products." But considering young buyers' price sensitivity, segments such as high-performance sports cars are off-limits, Haag added. For something a bit surprising. This morning, Toyota has announced that the Scion brand will be shuttered and the current lineup will transition over to the Toyota brand for the 2017 model year. News of this was first reported by CarBuzzard where a meeting was held yesterday with Scion employees notified of the decision. “This isn’t a step backward for Scion; it’s a leap forward for Toyota. Scion has allowed us to fast track ideas that would have been challenging to test through the Toyota network,” said Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota Motor North America and the founding vice president of Scion in a statement. For the past couple of years, we have reporting on countless rumorpile stories concerning the Scion FR-S. Most of these stories have dealt with a convertible and turbo power, and whether or not they are off or back on the table. Well it might be that two things may never come. Wards Auto spoke with Doug Murtha, senior vice president at Scion. Murtha explained that Toyota couldn't make a business case for either proposal. “So on the convertible we went down swinging,” said Murtha. “I think we were pretty aggressive on our (submitted plan), but we looked at what we would have conceivably lost on the product and said, ‘We’re not going to even push it further.’ Nobody was m…

One of the rumors that has been floating around for the past year or so was the Scion FR-S (Toyota GT86) possibly getting a hybrid powertrain as a way of boosting power. "I hope to make an engine upgrade at least one time with this car. We [have] already tried all possibilities and there are several types of 86 prototypes at the Toyota proving ground now; one is a turbocharger, one is bigger displacement and [the other is a] special hybrid system," said Tetsuya Tada, chief engineer of the FR-S last August. Well it seems that the hybrid powertrain is out. According to Autocar, Toyota is having a tough time trying to make a business case for a hybrid FR-S. "We can create…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 9, 2012 Back in March, we reported on a comment said by Tetsuya Tada, the chief engineer of the Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FR-S. "The GT 86 was designed from the outset that we can build it as a convertible," said Tada. Well it seems Toyota has given the green light for an FR-S convertible. Car and Driver reports the convertible will keep its back seat, however trunk space will suffer due to the folding roof mechanism. Mechanicals will remain the same: a 200 HP flat-four engine and the choice between a six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Expect the convertible to get some structural reinforcements. …

Scion has a very questionable future in the U.S. as some of their lineup continues to get older and sales continue to slump. New products are desperately needed and according to Automotive News, new products are coming. The changes to Scion's lineup begin later this year as the slow-selling iQ city car will say goodbye. Through June, Scion has only moved 1,227 iQs, down 47 percent when compared to last year. Then in the spring of 2015, the long-running xB will sent to the great cardboard-box in sky and in its place will be Toyota Auris. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 3, 2013 Ten years ago, Toyota introduced a new brand that promised young buyers fun and funky vehicles. That brand was Scion. Today, Scion is in a bit of a struggle. Originally conceived as a brand for young buyers, Scion has struggled to keep them in the fold. According to The Detroit News, 15 percent of Scion customers are under age 35. Meanwhile, 14 percent of Scion customers “We’re still a good 15 years or more below the average industry age,” said Scion chief Doug Murtha. While that is true, that number has been shrinking. Underneath the Scion badges is the Mazda2 sedan which packs a 1.5L four-cylinder producing 106 horsepower and 103 pound-feet of torque. Need a bit more space? Then you want to look at the iM which is a rebadged version of the Toyota Auris sold in Europe. Pricing starts at $19,255 for the six-speed manual or $19,995 for the CVT. Power will come from a 1.8L four-cylind…

Scion has been called Toyota's experimental division as it allows Toyota to try new products and ideas (although it hasn't been used for this in a few years). Now with this, you would think Toyota would introduce some new hybrid or electric vehicle. But Green Car Reports reports that it will not likely happen anytime soon. Scion chief Doug Murtha tells Green Car Reports the brand is still maintaining its focus on providing vehicles for those under 35, a group that isn't quite ready to spend the cash for these type of powertrain technologies. “People think that this would have a lot of appeal with our target audience; and it absolutely does, and the environmental benefit…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 19, 2013 Scion has billed itself as being the offbeat, youth oriented brand in the Toyota group. So it comes as a bit of surprise to find out that Scion currently has 1,100 dealers across the U.S. - 200 fewer than Toyota. Considering Scion's small lineup and declining sales over the past few years, this isn't good news. With all of these factors in play, it doesn't come as a surprise that Toyota's US group vice president, Bill Fay said to Wards Auto that Scion's dealer network "might actually go down a little bit." Then this week, a Texas dealer told Automotive News that Toyota will allow dealers to stop selling S…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 11, 2013 With sales of Scion vehicles slumping down and Toyota telling its dealers who have Scion that they can step away from it with no penalties, it makes you wonder if Scion has any new models on the way to help out. Bob Carter, senior vice president of Toyota Motor Sales USA told Reuters that new products for the brand are coming later than sooner. "We have a very robust and very exciting product cadence coming for Scion, however, it's further down the pipeline," said Carter. Scion's sales peak was back in 2006 with 173,034 models. Last year, Scion only moved 73,505. Through August, the brand's total sale…

We know that Scion will be heading to the great parking lot into the sky later this year. But we didn't know how Toyota is planning to rename Scion's models when the changeover happens. Autoblog spoke with Scion spokeswoman Nancy Hubbell who said the iA would be renamed 'Yaris iA' and the iM to 'Corolla iM'. We know, not the most imaginative names. But there are reasons for this. Hubbel explained the iA is sold as the Yaris sedan in Canada and Mexico, so "that connection was already there." As for the Corolla iM, it is basically the Corolla wrapped in a hatchback. As we reported last week, the FR-S will become the Toyota 86. One model that won't be making the …

Will Scion Add More New Models? A fourth line – or a hybrid – may be in the works. by Paul A. Eisenstein | Link to Original Article @ TheCarConnection Three's company - but would four be a crowd for Toyota's trend-setting Scion division? What sounds like a riddle is actually a serious issue for the youth-oriented brand. Since its launch in 2003, Scion officials have insisted on offering a maximum of just three models in the lineup. For the '08 model-year, they're dropping the original xA to make room for the new xD. But as sales grow, so might the model count, according to Scion corporate manager Steve Haag. "We have to expand a bit," Haag said, adding that "We hav…

TheCarConnection Daily Auto News: Sep. 15, 2006 The first two models from Toyota's Scion division are on their farewell tour. But unlike Cher, Toyota really means it: the Scion xA and xB will end production this year in advance of two new models coming to the division in spring of 2007. "The xA and xB will always be very special models for us and have contributed greatly to Scion's success, but we're ready to move into our next product phase," said Mark Templin, vice president, Scion. The pair, on sale since June 2003, have sold more than 200,000 copies combined through July. The new models replacing the xA and xB will be 2008 models, Toyota said in a release.

Toyota not giving up on its quirky Scion 01:00 AM EST on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 By Mark Phelan Detroit Free Press DETROIT — What’s wrong at Scion? In a year when small cars should flourish, Toyota’s small-car brand is in the tank. Through October, Scion’s U.S. sales have fallen a resounding 50.6 percent versus 2008 — far more than Toyota’s corporate decline of 23.2 percent, worse even than the Chrysler Group’s 38-percent freefall. Outsiders suggest the brand created to revitalize Toyota’s stodgy image may have lost its way, but Scion plans to expand its lineup and replace its mainstay tC coupe. Scion debuted with hoopla in 2003. Developed by a team of youn…

Spy Shots: 2008 Scion xB Posted Feb 14th 2006 12:00PM by John Neff Filed under: Spy Photos, Minivans/MPVs Toyota is set to replace its “youth-oriented” Scion xB for the 2008 model year and TCC has a spy shot up of the replacement model’s development mule. From the looks of it the next xB will be larger than the current model, especially in length. While we can’t glean any details about the design from this mule, we’re expecting the new xB to incorporate styling cues from the Toyota bB already on sale in Japan. Spycam: Next-gen Toyota Sequoia Link to Original Article @ MotorTrend The next-generation Toyota Sequoia, the king of Toyota's SUV family, has been snapped for the first time up close and personal by the Brenda Priddy spy crew. Codenamed 200L, the all-new vehicle is based on the new Tundra platform and is being designed to go head-to-head with GM's GMT 900 family of large SUVs. Expect the Sequoia to offer the same engine options as its Tundra sibling -- the 4.7 and 5.7-liter V-8s. According to Priddy, both the SR5 and Limited (front view) trim models were being tested of this new beast, which looks plenty big enough to rival the interior room of the GM offerings and …

Lexus' LF-A Spied NSX? What NSX? Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Published 06/20/07, 7:59 am et Lexus will reveal the production LF-A supercar either at Frankfurt in September or on its home field at Tokyo in October. This prototype, spied turning test laps at the Nürburgring, is likely powered by a 5.0-liter, 500-hp V10, similar to what’s in the next-generation NSX that the competition from Acura is finalizing for a Tokyo debut. While the LF-A’s debut is up in the air, it’s clear the $100,000-plus flagship sports car is well on its way to going on sale in late 2008 as a 2009 model. Styling closely follows that of the concept design shown at both the 2005 and …

At least the Asisns have good work ethics and you people would find any reason to bad mouth these cars. At least Toyota didn't neeed the government to come in and bail them out.

http://news.windingroad.com/earningsfinanc...oyota-takeover/ Toyota has owned an 8.7-percent minority stake in Fuji Heavy Industries, Subaru’s parent company, since October 2005, but it now appears that the automotive juggernaut has a clear road to acquire a controlling stake in the near-term. A change in Japan’s antitrust legislation earlier this month will enable Toyota to swallow up the all-wheel-drive manufacturer. In a new interview conducted by TheCarConnection, Subaru CEO Ikuo Mori admits that for all intents and purposes, his company would likely not survive without Toyota’s deep pockets. The executive is quick to point out that this doesn’t mean that Subaru wil…

TCC Test: 2007 Lexus LS460 There's little doubt Lexus has come a long, long way since it debuted in 1989, and the LS460 is the sum of that evolution. The new sedan is a technological marvel to the point even Lexus engineers can't recall all the gadgets available. 2007 Lexus ES350 Relax, it’s an ES350. by Conor Twomey (2006-04-21) Sometimes I have to remind myself that not everyone sees cars the same way I do. There are a LOT of you comfort-loving folk out there and Lexus knows you better than any other carmaker. 2007 Lexus GS450h Can hybrid technology make a great sedan even better? by Paul A. Eisenstein (2006-02-24) The Big Island of Hawaii is a land of surprises. Along the warm, dry Kona Coast it's sunshine, swimming, and golf. But just ten miles away, along the cross-island Saddle Road , a torrential rain is pummeling down, while a blizzard scours the island's twin volcanic peaks. So it was an unexpectedly appropriate place to go for our first drive of the 2007 Lexus GS450h, a sedan that delivers a variety of its own surprises. The new model could very well redefine both the Lexus brand and the concept of hybrid-electric vehicles. "Hybrid" is, of course, what the little …

2007 Toyota Camry Ready to spoil a new round of frugal family buyers — and keep its best-selling title. by Bengt Halvorson (2006-01-30) What's probably the most common car onU.S. streets isn't a Chevy or a Ford, but a Toyota. The Camry has been the best-selling car in America for eight of the past nine years. More than ten million Camrys have been sold since 1983, when the model was first introduced, and the majority of those have been sold in the U.S. With each new Camry much improved, and an even better value it seems, expectations for the new '07 model are high. There's also the issue that the Camry is just so darned good and efficient at being a comforta…

Toyota's Future Gameplan Still more segments to conquer By MARK RECHTIN | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek Much of Toyota's volume growth over the past decade has come from vehicles that enter new segments, such as the Prius, FJ Cruiser and the trio of Scion nameplates. The LS's Perfection Pursuit Slower Than Expected It's just a blurb, so I'll post the whole thing: The Lexus LS 460 fell short of its claimed 0-60 mph time of 5.4 seconds in a road test in the latest issue of Car and Driver magazine. The C&D testers couldn't get the car to complete the sprint in any less than 6.0 seconds. Braking distances were also unusually long. The car took 209 feet to come to a stop from 70 mph, the magazine said. That's nearly the same as the GMC Seirra's 210 foot braking distance. The new Mercedes S-Class, by comparison, takes 172 feet to stop from the same speed. Read "Lexus LS 460 performance numbers disappoint" @ Leftlane News
