I was just thinking about some of the upcoming and possible future engines in the pipeline, which would be applicable to a 6th gen Camaro. If we assume that a 6th gen is even coming, we can also assume that this car will be smaller and lighter than the 5th gen. Let's call it 180-185" in overall length and 3200 -3500 lbs, depending on equipment. This lower mass opens up all sorts of opportunities for some interesting, fun to drive, and economical combos. Here are some engines off the top of my head: - GDI 2.3L I4, 210-230 hp. - GDI 2.0L turbo I4, 260-300 hp. - GDI 3.0L V6, 255-285 hp. - GDI 2.8L turbo V6, 350 hp. - GDI 3.0/3.6L turbo V6, 400-430 hp. Is it too early to talk about a 6th gen Camaro? Might as well, between CAFE and Zeta production decisions, I have a feeling the 5th gen may not be with us for very long. I'll start. The 6th gen (if there even is one), would need to be smaller and lighter than the 5th. It will need to be in order to help GM with their CAFE goals, plus a tidier package would be a good thing for a pony car. It will also need to share it's architecture with a family of CAFE friendly vehicles, in order to make it economically viable. Alpha is the only architecture which comes to mind. Although a next gen Camaro would need to be heavily invested in I4, turbo I4, and V6 powertrains, I su…

  12. The idea here is not to produce the ultimate gas savings or the highest performance. Instead it is a Mild Hybrid which combines amicable fuel consumption with lively driving characteristics. The system is avoids the weight and cost burden of a big battery, while benefiting from an efficient asymmetric combustion cycle. The price premium will be in the order of $1000 over a turbo Malibu, while the driving experience -- especially in daily driving regimes in the idle to 4000 rpm range -- will be similar to a 3 liter V6. 23. After seeing this picture on Wikipedia, I finally come to understand why the new Aveo hatchback doesn't look right. The lower grille is obscenely large, to a point it makes the car out of balance, but if you look at this Euro version with the front plate, it actually make sense. The front plate hides part of the lower grille, so it makes it looks smaller. Look closely if you see a new Aveo in person, you'll find out that only half of that grille actually has holes. My suggestion is to make it look a bit more like the previous gen 3-door Kalos Sport version (which IMO looks awesome). Put on a front plate holder, then relocate the Chevy badge into the upper grille. M…

Award Worthiness Confirmed for Motor Trend 2017 Car of the Year - Chevrolet BOLT Motor Trend plugged in their long term Chevrolet Bolt tester 13 months ago and today they announced that they have confirmed it lived up to every expectation of being the 2017 Car of the Year. Here is something going around on a Mule and speculation it may be a Vette? This is posted on autoblog.com. Hot on the heels of discovering the next-gen Corvette could be offered with a dual-clutch transmission, word is now filtering out that General Motors may be working on adapting the Haldex-sourced XWD all-wheel-drive system currently available on the 2008 Saab 9-3 for use on Chevy's budget supercar. The Haldex XWD is a robust system, as it can send up to 85% of the engine's power to a single wheel. Auto Motor and Sport in Sweden reports that GM engineers have been seen testing a mule with a wider rear track than any Saab currently available, which suggests the sy…

I believe in neither Global Warming nor the importance of reducing carbon emissions. But, I can see a place for entry luxury vehicles with a refined, fuel efficient and sprightly power train. Such a vehicle will have significant appeal regardless of the potential buyer's propensity to drink Climate Change Coolaid. In this regard, the Volt is lacking in terms of cost effectiveness and performance -- it is a nice Halo car, but it won't be a volume seller. Paying $15,000 extra to save even 70% on the average $1000~1200 annual gas tab doesn't make sense because you won't break even for 17~22 years, and the public is already beginning to awaken to the fraud that is global warm…

  91. Belated Blowout Chevy offers incentives on '06 models By RICK KRANZ | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Updated: 06/25/07, 9:23 am et DETROIT -- Chevrolet's 0 percent interest program to sell 10,000-plus new 2006 models sitting on lots nationwide strikes some Chevy dealers as being way overdue. The program, which began June 15 and expires Wednesday, June 27, offers 0 percent financing for up to 60 months on 2006s, including 404 Corvettes and the last 16 SSR hot rod pickups. As an alternative, rebates of up to $7,000 are available on some models. "It's great," said one Chevrolet dealer who has more than 20 2006 vehicles in stock. "I'm as happy as a lark, but wh…

Well I got to spend some time with some Camaro owners this weekend. Word among them is that the Camaro Disciples are being convened in Detroit during the Woodward cruise week per the Camaro web sites. GM has been and is still working with them. It looks like they might be used for the updates to the present car and I would not be suprised since work is already started they will be used for the Alpha car. This mean real Camaro fans will be in on the new car from the start and not just the end of the program. Good move on GM's part too keep working with them. None of them are talking so we will just have to wait to see what they are doing. Some of what they can say ends…

Autoweek is reporting that when Chevy said there was no Blue Devil they were not lying. That is because it has been given the name Sting Ray. Little info was reported that we did not know already such as Carbin Fiber Hood, 600 HP, and a price at $100,000. I am sure ther will be added features over the Z06 and by the time it reaches market it will find a little more than 600 HP. Thwy alway seem to find 5-15 HP at release time. I wonder it this finally kills the Kappa idea that Chey did not need.
