Chevrolet Confirms 2013 Cruze Diesel June 22, 2011 - Drew Dowdell, CheersandGears.com Confirming previous rumors, we can finally do the happy dance today as Chevrolet confirms the 2013 Cruze Diesel for production. The already efficient Cruze Eco currently is rated for 42mpg highway, a diesel version would push that number up close to 50mpg. I have a neighbor who over the years has had a lot of fun cars like a 96 Impala SS, 66 Chevelle, SS Nova etc. Back in 1981 he ordered a new Camaro coupe with only options being V8, Posi, spoiler and AM FM radio. The car is a factory 4 speed. The Gunmetal Grey car has been pretty much sitting in the garage for 25 years. He suffered some medical issues like 3 strokes and several heart attacks including one where he was gone for a little while. H was able to recover to now have the onset of Alzhimers. I grew up in this neigborhood and just came back last year. In that time he has asked me to take the car out and run it as he is no longer able to drive. So at different time…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 13, 2012 It has been close to seven years since General Motors introduced a new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra truck. It that time, GM has been to hell and back with bankruptcy, The bankruptcy brought with it delays to key products, most notably the trucks and SUVs. The competition during that time has moved the full-size truck yardstick by a mile with Ford's engine lineup in the F-Series and Ram introducing a wealth of fuel economy tricks and clever storage places. GM has dropped the curtain on the new Silverado and Sierra today at an event in Detroit, bringing some much needed updates and changes to the tr…

Last month, speculation was going around after an trademark application was filed by GM for 'Badlands' to be used on a future model. The speculation was this was going to be used on the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra as competitors to the Ford Raptor. But according to Edmunds, GM has no plans for a direct Raptor competitor. "We have a lot of priorities. Capital is not endless. That is not one of our highest priorities in terms of spending capital right now," said Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of global product development. However, Reuss isn't fully against a performance off-road monster. He points toward the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 concept shown at LA Au…

Linkity First Drive: 2010 Chevrolet Cruze Forget the Volt -- This is the Car That Must Save GM Highlights: Solid Delta II Structure Choice of diesel, gas 4-cylinder engines (Euro Version) Good Interior Layout The Chevrolet Cruze has different jobs wherever it's sold. In the U.S., where it goes on sale from mid-2010, it will be a locally made rival to the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. But in Europe, where we've just driven it, it's GM's Korean-made budget-brand entry and sits beneath the same-sized Opel (and sometime Saturn) Astra in GM's price and brand hierarchy. GM's been promising Americans an "import fighter" small car for years -- a…

Chevy Tahoe Hybrid wins 2007 Green Car of the Year Link to Original Post @ Autoblog Surprise, Surprise! Founder of Green Car Journal Ron Cogan announced that the third annual Green Car of the Year Award would go to the big GM Hybrid SUV for its innovation in demonstrating that a vehicle with lots of people and cargo hauling capability could still offer fuel economy equivalent to that of a much smaller four-cylinder sedan. Of the five nominees that include the Saturn Aura Green Line, Chevy Malibu Hybrid, Nissan Altima Hybrid and Mazda Tribute Hybrid, GM's Two-Mode Hybrid system is clearly the most innovative.

Does anyone have Malibu production numbers? I know Autonews has them, but I'm no longer a subscriber. I'd like to know because my dealer can't seem to keep more than 2 in stock at a time. They delivered 3 today and have another one on Friday, and therefore only have two left on the lot. I've never seen more than 3 on the lot at once, and every time I see that they get an LTZ in, I go the next day to see it and it's sold... I say: 1) Convert Fairfax only to Malibu for a while. My Saturn dealer has 20 Auras. That should last them at least a few months. 2) Convert Orion to 70% Malibu production. The G6 doesn't sell very well anyways, and it does so with huge incentive…

None of us can predict what will happen. Just six months ago high gas and oil prices was here to stay. Well as we know we are just under $2 in my area. Truck sales are up again and Cobalt sales that were booming are now sitting on dealer lots. If by chance the oil remains down due to deflation. Chevy then brings out the Volt at just under $50,000 Just who will buy them? Will it just be the Ed Begly Jr's of the world or a Politician trying to make a statment for his image. GM's timing has been as bad as it can be with product timing. It is nothing they could have done of late it was just happen stance. But they need to Volt to sell for all the money they have …

It's a very sad day at my house since I know that the time is running out for my 1996 Camaro Z28 convertible. I just recently started a new job that requires me to drive in really ugly traffic and spend 1 hour each way a day - something the Z28 is not all too happy about. So the quest goes to replace it. I like the HHRs and they aren't too expensive even with all the options, and the Malibu MAXX SS in Laser Blue looks really good, so I went to a local dealer this morning to see if I could live with the 172 HP in the HHR.... NOPE! There's no way I could be happy - even sititng in traffic with the HHR. It probably is fine for people that did not grow up with musc…

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS XFE - Short Take Road Test Xtra Fuel Economy may not be thrilling, but at least it’s not torture. September 2008 At first glance, the Chevrolet Cobalt appears to be suffering from neglect. Its generic, character-free interior and exterior design was already a step behind the competition when the car launched in 2005, and little has changed in the intervening years. Now that the Cobalt is riding out its final years before its replacement, the Cruze, arrives in 2010 as a 2011 model, that’s sort of a moot point; we wouldn’t expect Chevy to invest heavily in its lame-duck compact, after all. But rising fuel prices and America’s growing interest …

Looks like Chevy has finally given up on being the only 2 door car in NA$CAR. I know the market is small, but I still see quite a few Monte's on the road around here. I've lost my love of NA$CAR racing since they started with the Ford Taurus in '98 and was glad that Chevy stayed true to the 2 door "stock" car. Looks like time has run out. If anyone knows the status of the production Monte, I would appreciate it. http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=A...=yhoo&type=lgns

Does that make him the right leader to save the carmaker? In June, Daniel F. Akerson, the chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors, gave a speech to about 400 engineers and designers at the company’s technical center north of Detroit. It was a boilerplate, morale-boosting speech, generous with exhortations about work ethics and staying vigilant. Then came the Q&A session. One emplo…

LaNeve to Campbell-Ewald: Fix Chevy's Ads Auto News: GM Marketing Chief Applies Pressure as Sales Slip By Jamie LaReau Link to Original Article @ AdAge DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- General Motors Corp. marketing chief Mark LaNeve is sending a blunt message to Chevrolet's long-standing ad agency, Campbell-Ewald: Fix Chevy's car ads. It is no secret that Chevrolet is working on a mid-engine Corvette, especially when a set of spy shots clearly showing the vehicle came out last fall. A new batch of spy shots have hit the web and we now have a better idea of what it could look like. The pictures reveal that the front end will look somewhat similar to the current Corvette with a pointed nose. There appears to be a curved windshield and a tapered roofline. Other pictures reveal the outline of the hood where the V8 engine resides. Speaking of the V8 engine, there are reports saying the mid-engine Corvette will have three engines on offer - codenamed LT2, LT6, and LT7. We know LT6 is possibly a nat…

Steven Cole Smith | Sentinel Automotive Editor August 17, 2008 In the market for a fuel-efficient car? Chevrolet offers a much-updated 2009 Aveo5 hatchback. Aveo's 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder engine is surprisingly smooth and quiet, and drivers will find generous headroom. (CHEVROLET / August 15, 2008) After trying, and failing, to sell cars in the United States under its own brand, South Korean manufacturer Daewoo went bankrupt. General Motors bought the company and then had to find an outlet for its products. And that's how we got the Chevrolet Aveo in 2004, which looked and felt less sophisticated than products from the other two major Korean carmakers, Hyundai a…

Pretty good NY Times article about the Impala. I couldn't really disagree with much of what the article was talking about. It was basically talking about how the Impala is a shadow of its former self. However, the article was quite positive about the current Impala and how well it stacks up against the Asians. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/03/business...artner=homepage DETROIT, June 2 — To understand why Detroit is having so much trouble competing against Asian car companies, look no further than the Chevrolet Impala. Chevrolet's general manager, Edward J. Peper, and marketing manager, Mark A. Clawson, said Impala sales were up 6.4 percent this year. In the 1960…

General Motors announced today that certain 2015 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs will trade in their six-speed automatic for an eight-speed automatic. Those models include, Chevrolet Silverado GMC Sierra GMC Yukon Denali/Yukon XL Denali The catch is that all of these models must have the 6.2L V8 to get the eight-speed. Automobile Magazine reports that the Cadillac Escalade is also line to get the eight-speed transmission in the near future. GM says the new eight-speed is about the same weight as the outgoing six-speed, and features a wider gear spread which allows for more torque to be available in first gear. General Motors has issued a recall for 64,000 Chevrolet Volts from the 2011-13 model years to prevent carbon monoxide buildup in a enclosed space when a driver forgets to shut off the vehicle. Automotive News reports that if a driver leaves their Volt running in the electric mode, the vehicle will drain the battery and cause the gas engine to kick on. "If the gas engine runs for a long period of time within an enclosed space, such as a garage, carbon monoxide could build up," GM said in a statement. GM says they are aware of two people who had carbon monoxide exposure from the Volt. At the moment, the Volt has a chime that come on if a driver exits the vehicle and lea…

My mother once rented one, and backed it into who knows what, and the corner of the rear bumper dimpled in completely. Absolute concave. This is a thing I'm used to seeing on about 40% of 97-01 Camrys. It makes your car look and feel really cheap and tinny. What would prompt a carmaker to not fill in the entire bumper end to end to fix the problem? I saw a lesser model yesterday with the similar problem, and I fear the upcoming day my parents' brand new LTZ suffers that silliness.

Two years from Chevrolet's introduction of the latest-generation Silverado, the company has unveiled the facelifted 2016 model. The big change is up front where Chevrolet designers transformed the clip. A new body-color strip across the middle of the grille is paired with new headlights. Higher trim models such as the Z71 get dual strands of LEDs. There is also new bumper and hood. At this time, we don't know what lower-tier models look like or even the rest of the truck. There is some good news as Chevrolet says the 8-speed automatic transmission will be expanded, but no mention as to what engines. The 5.3L V8 is a likely model. Also coming is a new version of Ch…

Back in December, we reported on General Motors' VIN decoder for the 2019 model year. One of the interesting bits was the 2019 Chevrolet Cruze getting a CVT. We speculated at the time that the transmission would appear in a Eco model. But when GM announced the 2019 Cruze in April, there was no mention of the CVT. The only transmission news was that the six-speed manual had been dropped. Was the mention of the CVT a misprint? Nope. “There were a small number of Cruzes built with a CVT for fleet use only which is why the option is disclosed on the EPA website,” explained Katie Minter, Chevrolet spokeswoman to CarsDirect. The CVT option doesn't offer any significan…

Do you find the GM minivans to be a disappointment? How much longer until GM tries the minivan thing again? I wonder how sales of Uplander, Montana SV6, Terraza and Relay compare to Chrysler or Toyota. Or even Nissan or Hyundai? GM could do better. The 90 Lumina/Transport/Silhouette was a flop. Then the 1997 Venture was an improvement. Seems like the Uplander isn't selling as well as the Venture. Some say minivans are a thing of the past and GM should focus on SUVs and family sedans. Maybe so. The Astro sold as well as the Uplander when it was 10 or 15 years old! GM needs to try a new front end on the Uplander soon as see if that can improve sales.

2013 Chevrolet Colorado Spied! August 27, 2011 Cory Wolfe - CheersandGears.com Over in Thailand, a Colorado enthusiast discovered a completely undisguised 2013 Chevrolet Colorado sitting in a parking lot. What you see is spec'd for various Asian markets, but is the first look at a production ready variant of the concept shown earlier this year. For the most part, the design remains in tact, save for a slightly toned down look, as expected. More photos below, original photos by following the link below. Source: BBZnet Forums

about the time i heard of the new camaro concept i scoured the internet for as much info and pics i could come across. this site along with C&G and a couple others seemed to have the goods. If there's one car that's been crucial to GM's recent sales success, it's the Chevrolet Cruze. Since it's global introduction in 2008, the compact Chevy has had healthy sales worldwide and has also handily outsold its competitors at times here in the U.S. market. GM is obviously intent on keeping the momentum going and knows that the only way it'll keep making sales progress is to update the Cruze for the immediate future. So, it comes as no suprise a spy photo of the Cruze's upcoming refresh has already surfaced over on Czech auto website AutoForum. The spy shot reveals that the shape of the grille opening will be modified slightly and the inserts will change from the c…

Howdy, folks. Let's not pretend that I'm a dedicated "member" here or anything. I just want to get the word out on a sweepstakes that Stylin' Concepts is running to win a Chevy Colorado. I know you guys don't like promotion, but some of these forums are such tightly knit groups(yourselves included) that it's hard to get the word out on something like this. Just take a minute out of your busy life and win a free truck..

I went Sunday lot shopping this past weekend in Lawrenceville, NJ (Mercer County). I checked out Princeton Chevrolet and found this 2014 Silverado 1500 LT 4WD Crew Cab model in the newest color addition: Rainforest Green Metallic (a $495 upcharge): This is the color I want my 2015 GMC Canyon in, but would love to have it on a Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab pickup

Chevrolet has announced pricing for the 2016 Malibu, ahead its arrival to dealers in a few weeks. The base Malibu L will start at $22,500 (includes an $875 destination charge). 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Black on Black 60K - Ebay Here is the first one I have seen, you can buy it now for 60K *asswholes price gouging as usual* and they claim that this dealer is only getting three in this year and look they have all three right now. Greenies go get 'em! Where is Toyota's fullsize hybrid... I would get a 2008 LTZ Tahoe with 2WD and the 6.2L Vortec/6spd. automatic, you can build 'em like that on Chevy's site now. That is werid but cool.

I just notice California will not let the Volt use the Diamond lane with a single driver and will not extend the additional $5,000 credit to the Volt because it has a tail pipe. When will the madness in California end?

Saw this in the locked thread and just wanted to clarify since my name was brought up. The bulk of vehicle platform work on Camaro is being done in Australia right now, but there is still work - design, powertrain, etc., etc., being done here in NA. There are no secret Australian programs. It would be silly for GM to even work that way. Are there a bunch of Camaros running around down under? Probably not. Just guessing, but they may be at the point where mules are finally being built. And when I say mules, I don't mean real Camaros. I mean validation work being done on donor VE Commodores (or whatever), for example.

About 20 years ago, GM decided to "shelve" the GM80 program. This program was to spawn a front wheel drive, plastic body, V6 Camaro and Firebird. Its a significant turning point in Camaro History. Who knows what would have happened if they went ahead with their plans. http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_..._v94/ai_4345775

Shipping company employee carted off to jail for Corvette SS pics Posted Feb 22nd 2007 6:02PM by John Neff Link to Original Article @ AutoBlog SPY SHOTS! 23 Corvette Blue Devil powertrain mule pics! We've just learned that EMO TRANS, the shipping company that was hired by General Motors to transport a Corvette SS mule to Germany for testing on the Nurburgring, has fired the employee who took pictures of the vehicle and posted them on the internet. In addition, the unnamed employee has been taken to jail, though we don't know what charges have been filed against him. This clearly illustrates how seriously GM is taking the development of the Corvette SS, as well as h…

I have been all over the map with Chevy lately. In the past four years, I have worked in three different dealerships, driven three different models, test drove the Cruze, Sonic, Spark and Volt and wound up buying what is probably the least popular of the bunch. I had an Aveo.. then I 'upgraded' to the suspension headache and worsened build quality that was the Cobalt, and for some reason... insanity perhaps? I continue to go back to the mini-hatch Chev-woos. The Volt was a stunning car to drive, it was balanced well, had plenty of giddy-up and was nothing less than a technological leap in comparison to the other three cars I tested. BUT - the province I live in currentl…

The Best Driver’s Car contenders are selected from all new or significantly revised performance cars launched in the 12 months prior to the test. To pick the winner, the editors of Motor Trend conduct objective and subjective testing – including digitally instrumented laps at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and high-speed driving up and down a 4.3-mile hill climb on a closed rural highway – to determine which car delivers the most engaging experience behind the wheel. After completing that battery of tests, the editors of Motor Trend wrote: “The transformation of the fifth-generation Camaro from ‘muscle car that handles pretty well’ to Best Driver’s Car winner is astou…

GM sees "showdown" with Toyota on electric car Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:09 AM GMT | By Kevin Krolicki | Link to Original Article @ Reuters LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - General Motors is on track to road test its Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid early next year and to produce the rechargeable car by late 2010, setting the stage for a "showdown" with Toyota, a senior GM executive said on Wednesday. As the race to bring a mass-market, rechargeable electric vehicle to market heats up, Bob Lutz, GM's head of global product development, said the largest U.S. automaker remained on track to launch the Chevy Volt in November 2010. "A lot of our team members working on the Volt keep telling…

Who here likes it? who doesn't? what was the best part about it? what would you have changed? General Opinions on the thing. I for one like the styling, the idea of the thing, but they failed in the execution, Basing it on the trailblazer(not that they had much an alternative) and releasing it underpowered in its first year with the auto only combination didn't help The later years LS2 with the 6sp manual was really cool, but they are still stratospherically expensive even today.e

What Works: Handsome styling inside and out; fit and finish jumps a leap forward; sure-footed chassis; not-too-hard/not-too-soft ride tuning. What Needs Work: Noisy power steering; rear seat feels compartmentalized for 6-footers; one-dimensional mpg-oriented transmission. Bottom Line: The new Malibu jumps smack in the middle of most consideration lists. It might even sell well to the lost generation in California. We've seen spy shots of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette in the snow and at GM's proving grounds. Now, we have a set of spy shots of a mid-engine Corvette at a McDonalds' drive-thru. The pictures were captured by a Motor Trend reader in Cadillac, Michigan (northwest of Detroit). The test mule was undergoing some public road testing and it appears there was a current Corvette and what appears to be a Porsche 911. Despite the heavy amount of camouflage, you can make out some Corvette cues such as similar front-end styling as the current model and hood cutout. The double-bubble roof is present as is a set of new wheels that are presumed to be production ones. We'l…

"And we are still working on it," Peper said. Sales begin in the first quarter of 2009. Jamie LaReau contributed to this report. The death of GMPD has been greatly exaggerated! They are now back to work on some new SS models for the Cruze and Aveo line up. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/23/report-gm-high-performance-division-put-back-to-work-focus-on/ I suspect they are also involved with the ATS V and GS that are coming too. These guys do it right and it will be interesting to see what they can do with a new Cruze many of their people were already tuning the standard suspension vs have to fix the old Cobalt one. These guys are good and worry less on stickers and more on hardware, the right hardware.

With the sporty Land Rover Evoke and Mini Paceman coming onto the scene as CUV "coupes", is it possible we'll eventually see a few 2-door crossovers back on the market from the domestic manufacturers in the future? A 2-door Equinox with a more rakish roofline, sportier, larger wheels and more power underhood would be a cool specimen. I'd like to see it, because if the bad days are truly behind them, GM needs to get back to producing some sporty, fun variations on their current offerings.

Just a thought... GM doesn't have any alternate fuel compact in North America at the moment. Maybe there should be more engines for the Cobalt, just not running gasoline. Diesel: The 1.9L CDTI ECOTEC is readily available in Europe in the Astra. I'm sure with some modifications it'll work in NA in a Cobalt. I think it'll go nicely against the Jetta TDI. E85: The Solstice GXP Drifter uses an E85 2.0L ECOTEC, so I think that means an E85 version of the 2.2L/2.4L engine is possible. Bi-fuel Natural Gas: The Cavalier used to have it with the 2.2L LN2 and ECOTEC. It wasn't carried over to the Cobalt though. Hybrid: Maybe it's coming with the BAS system after the Aura …
