While the Lounge is for members only, there are two key points we wish to have our members abide by:
1) Please use office talk. Talk that you would not use around the office, or infront of your boss for that matter, please do not use here on C&G
2) No political talk. There are plenty of forums on the 'net for that. Lets keep C&G free of political talk.

I'm starting a new website. It will is not going to compete with C&G but rather compliment it. AutoWikipedia I hope that one day, the autowikipedia will be an authorative database on automotive history so that we here at C&G and at forums all over can reference it. There won't be forums like what we have here on C&G, just a large database of our combined knowlage...and as the site grows, hopefully knowlage from users outside of C&G as well. This will be a huge undertaking and I'm hoping I can get a number of you to pitch in on writing articles. In addition, I'll need a few "moderators" to watch out for, and edit, the edit wars that can errupt on Wiki…

I have an Audi A6 (3.2L) press car this week and I was told its electronically limited to 130mph. Turns out it's more like 133 Heh...but the funnier part of the day was with the chief of police. I kinda know him, and he wanted to check out the A6. So on a local highway, I did 116 with him in the passenger seat. I wasn't going to let it rip but he said something like "come on, do it!" I was almost hoping we'd get pulled over just to see what would happened when the chief stepped out in full uniform.

Hi guys, I've been working tons of overtime latley and have been barely making it to the gym because I'm tired and not motivated enough to want to go. I've still been making it 4 times a week though I'd prefer 5 at about 1:15 a clip (50 minutes lifting 20 or so for cardio) Who here works out regulalry and do you have problems fitting it in your daily routine.

Before I start, I would like to thank Mr Cubical and Casa for reviving the other Would You Rather Thread with the Vette... And the others that answered it as well.... OK...so... Im at my son's baseball practice Saturday morning watching the kids pitch and catch and stuff when I hear a beautiful rumble from a distance coming from the parking lot. A black 1978 Camaro Z/28. l It was in rough condition, but still very driveable. Many little rust bubbles all around but the body seemed to be in decent shape. T-Tops and white interior. Like this except in black The V8 under the hood made glorious loping sounds...like this: The best I could find that was similar…

I wonder what people feel what GM lacks most, is it powertrain, fit/finish, comfort features or looks(inside and out). I feel personally that currently they are lacking in plain looks, they are well engineered but the looks of the new stuff is lame.. most still look cheap or give me the feeling that I am in something old!

For the Intrepid: New wheels and tires, of the 18" variety Brake upgrade (at least to what the top models had) Get the small rust spot repaired Get the small dents out Possibly get a brushed-aluminum dash kit for the center console and trim Possibly get aluminum pedals Mod the engine some (although I'm not sure what to mod) Replace the light bulbs behind the gauges If the timing chain hasn't been replaced as per its scheduled replacement, have it replaced (have to call the previous dealer which it was serviced). I've stopped by my credit union to see about a loan and a $4-5k loan is within my reach. I.E. it's doable. I just need to fill out the application. However, I'm still wondering what my best option is right now. While getting the Cutlass up and running isn't as easy as I'd like it to be, it can be done for probably $500 or so. I don't look forward to having to pay for its gas mileage again either, but it is an option to consider. I could also try for another cheap beater or perhaps a lesser loan of $1-2k for something to get me by until I'm finished parting the Jetta out. Finally, I could go for the full $4-5k and find a true replacement, which I will need to do eventua…

Given that my new job (which I enjoy) has doubled my commute time along roads that are, unfortunately, generously dumped with salt during the snowy months, I may purchase another car to keep my '87 MC LS from the salt/snow. During my October road trip, I spotted a white 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme at a dealership in Independence MO. In the meantime, I loved driving the '06 Dodge Charger during that same road trip ... so much so that I'm toying with the idea of buying one, depending on what type of deal I can get.... I keep wavering back'n'forth, tho. The older car would be a "winter beater" only, of sorts, whereas a new Charger would also double as my personal roa…

As a kid, my parents had a 1993 Mercury Villager. We owned it for about four years until we bought our Windstar. It had a fairly stylish exterior with a jade green and gray two-tone paint job, but I have so many bad memories of long trips stuck inside that van. Hands down, it had some of the most unergonomic, crappy seats in a modern car. They were flat, hard, and your rear end would fall asleep after an hour on them. Most long trips I would spend sprawled out uncomfortably over the entire backseat (which didn't recline, btw) because I was tired of sitting but had no other way to stretch out. The "cloth" seats felt like a burlap sack, and there was no soft touch pla…

The things we Americans waste our time on: Abortion Flag burning Gay marriage Cloning The drug war "In God We Trust" "Under God" A tax code crafted so that no one can understand it Most of this stuff could be solved by people simply minding ther own business. The simple truth is that we no longer respect the freedom of others to be what, how, and who they choose to be.

I'm just going to link to that the thread over there. http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthre...&threadid=50583 So guys... what should I do? Is this a calling for me to replace it or is it worth fixing? I just don't know what to do anymore. Well after looking at, sitting in, driving cars for over a year I forced myself to go look at the 2013 KIA Forte before I bought. One 2013 to be found, but they did have a truckload 2014's. Looked at it, sat in it, drove it, bought it. 2014 Forte EX sedan 2.0L 173hp Auto trans (not ctv, or vti, or ggnp or any other unwanted odd ball trans) Silver over black With a few added options stickered at $20,790 Got free tint, and locking lug nuts (told them they could take that stuff off so they left it.) Got 2K in discounts This car caught me by surprise, lots of standard equipment, and I got an auto dimming mirror without having to buy a $2 or 3K package. This one happen…

I saw that Hurricane Kyle is headed for Nova Scotia. It's hard to fathom that a hurricane is heading for Eastern Canada when they all seem to take aim at the Gulf States. I have never been in a hurricane but know that people can move inland from one. I have been in a tornado warning. When I was in Champaign IL in grad school, one day the sky went real dark and it was an eerieness I've not seen before. We were told that a tornado was near an adjacent town and that we needed to take refuge. It did not come through. Earthquakes are the most frightening. There is no warning and the heaving/pitching/rolling can be up and down, side to side, or some combination ther…

Who else has been enjoying this big storm thats been going across the nation? It started raining last night and didn't let up, it turned into freezing rain and finally snow this evening. The best part is that I had to drive around randomly assessing the roads so I could decide wether or not any stores needed to be closed. Since half the town was a sheet of ice and there were no plows in sight, one delivery only store had to be closed. After that I got bored so I came home and couldn't get the Fusion into my garage (driveway is a pretty steep incline) so I left it at the end of the driveway and came inside. Then I used some Nair I found to eliminate a single gigant…

So, there was a thread similiar to this that I can't find (I'm sure someone will post a link though when THEY find it! ). Originally, I replied that we were going to pay off the G6 in mid-2014 (if not earlier) and then the Envoy in early 2016, at which time I'd look to get me a new GMC Sierra pickup. The the wife fell in love with the Buick Encore and wants to consider leasing one when they hit the market (meaning one of the two current vehicles has to go). Logic says dump the Envoy - it will be 7 years old and still has 3 years left on the loan - and keep the G6 since it's almost paid off (and likely not a good trade-in value). Though I don't want to be without a tru…

Interesting article here about commercial vans being the next "big thing" in the marketplace. Can't say that we haven't already discussed this topic here, but in the article there's an interesting picture that has caught my attention. Ford will be bringing over the larger Transit to replace the Econoline model, and if it came directly as this: I think I'd be tempted to change over to Ford for my next family hauler and give the wife what she wants (a minivan). Can't wait to see where this new market goes!!

Alright... anyone have plans for Labor Day weekend? If so, what are they? If not... and you live in my general area... There's the Knox Dale Fireman's homecoming that I talked about a while ago. It'd be a good chance for some of you guys to meet me... see Brookville... etc. You can camp out there with a tent... or a camper of some sort (not an actual camp ground... so no luxuries like water/electric hook ups). Basically, there's campfires, partying, consessions, games, raffles, bingo, entertainment, demo derby, volley ball, and softball. Starts Friday, main days are Sat and Sun, while it ends Monday. I stay all four days since I usually have nothing better to do. Wel…

Ute Battle Brewing New Navigator, Escalade will duel for American luxury SUV crown By DALE JEWETT | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 02/12/06, 3:24 pm et CHICAGO - A luxury SUV battle is brewing for this summer. In one corner are the redesigned 2007 Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, which ride on General Motors' new truck platform known as GMT 900. In the other corner are the redesigned 2007 Lincoln Navigator and its new extended-length version, the Navigator L, unveiled here at the auto show. The Navigators share their overhauled, stiffer platform with the redesigned Ford Expedition and Expedition EL. The tale of the tape between the Navigator and the…

So yeah... after all the years of joking and making fun of Frank for popping his collar, I finally feel bad for it since I see the logic in it. You see... popped collars not only keep youre neck warm... they hide hickeys well. Ah... for those nonexistant few that noticed my own nonexistance this weekend, it was because I travelled down to Somerset, Pa to meet a cool boy I've been chatting with. I'm trying to type this with my left hand since my right wrist is imobilized. Made a rare trip to see a doctor today to confirm the bad news I already thought was coming my way. Right now, I can't do any of the things I usually do to make a living and am supposed to start some harsh physical therapy after "resting" my arm for several weeks. This is not in the budget. Worse, it is spring and my best chance to generate some decent level of income just evaporated. Sometimes things just suck. Sorry for not getting back to you, Olds. Been a bit fixated on this.

its just another car. It really doesn't do anything for me. the interior is weak. the lines are rather curvy in person not as boxy as pictures have it. I have to wait and see how it does but i think it will do as good as the GTO, but i hope a i am wrong. As the crowds around it where pretty big as people where trying to figure out what it was. it looks like the new emblem is staying. the wheels look nice and under the hood is very clean. Im up in the air about this one. i would have took pics but i didnt expect to see a G8 chillin around.

Bought for $1500 in 1956, driven only 603 miles, then garaged for unknown reasons (with 9800 original miles), it has recently been sold (undisclosed amount). Mostly complete, it needs a complete re-do. Rust & mice are never mindful of history, unfortunately. Some sort of impact of unknown force poked out it's Cyclop's Eye. Hopefully & assumedly, it will be restored, as Tuckers have now cleared 7 digits in the collector arena. Neat to see a 'rumored' one re-debut.

For me: Love vintage Mustangs...but the last Mustangs I would really want to own left Ford in the summer of 1970 when they re-tooled for the '71 models. Really dislike fix body Mustangs anymore... Also dislike the Japanese "supercars" of the early 1990's...Supra, FD RX-7, 3000GT Mitsu, 300ZX, et al. But I do like the NSX. Almost anything Lincoln between thbe 60's suicide door cars and the current models. Like the Suicide door cars and the latest and greatest...but the Town Cars, 70's Lincolns...ughhh....yuck... So what do you dislike? Chris

I found a 67 or 68 Eldorado, gold in colour, east of my town and I really want it. It is in need of desperate restoration but the body and paint and still alright. I felt sorry for it because it is buried in a snowbank made by a snow plow in a lot with 2 or 3 Corvettes, 86 and 87 Corvettes. It is right beside a shop and I need to know whether parts for these are hard to come by. I know parts cars probably are. Also, are these reliable enough to make the trip to Woodward. I will update next time I find out some info.

Well, I haven't yet, but probably will.... Anyways... :D I went looking at new cars yet again! Yay! My first trip was to Brockway. The dealer was meathead Eazer Chevrolet-Pontiac. As Fall starts to take its effect and the mornings get cooler, the days get shorter, and the leaves begin to slowly change color, it's that time. What time, you ask? Well, it's when having a nice hot cup of cappuccino in the morning really helps take in the cooler temperatures. When sitting on the porch in the evening now requires more than just pants and a long sleeve shirt. When you enjoy the mid day as much as you can before its too short to notice. When you start to make sure to keep freshly charged batteries in your camera in case you across a beautiful shot. When... you no longer have to deal with Summer's heat and humidity. It's just that time again. Time to enjoy …

Now Wall Street may shun $700bn bail-out Fears are mounting that many Wall Street banks and financial firms will refuse to participate in the US government's $700bn bail-out package, leaving global markets and world economies in a perilous state for months to come. 'There is a growing feeling that banks ... might instead decide to tough it out,' said Thomas Caldwell, chairman and CEO of Caldwell Financial, a $1bn-plus fund manager. For the past two weeks all eyes in the market have been focused on US Congress and its attempts to pass Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson's bail-out package - a bill to allow the US government to buy up to $700bn of toxic mortgage-related …

As time goes by, the influence of our fathers molds us into the people we are destined to be, yet, some things just never "take". I share some aspects of my father's personality, but some things about him remain mystifiers that I'll never adopt. For example, my father has a rather militant dislike for cats, wild rabbits, squirrels and groundhogs. He'd feel no remorse shooting them if they give him enough of a chance. I don't own a gun and don't want anything to do with them, and I have a "live and let live" attitude toward wildlife. I love my father and wouldn't change him. What things about your father seem out of step with the way you live your life? What things …

OK, this is getting ridiculous. Coming home from work yesterday, traffic was slowing as is normal during rush hour. I was in the fast lane, having just slowed from 60+ miles per hour to about five. I didn't even see it coming behind me - a woman in a white 96 Maxima didn't notice that traffic had slowed, and plowed into the back of a Land Rover Discovery, who must have been right on my tail. Whats the worst limo/stretched car you've ever seen? Expeditions, Hummers, Navigators, yeah those rae all hideous and dumb, but the worst I've seen is a stretch Monte Carlo. The ugly one, with the weird headlights and the retarded taillights and FWD. Stretched. And painted like something out of NACAR (they dont deserve the "S") and all. It looked SOOOOOOOOO dumb. I'll snap some pics if I remember to take my camera next time I go to school. Its bad, trust me.

Other than "Whats the stupidest question you've ever been asked" what is the stupidest question you've ever been asked. I had a chick at work ask what "ball funk" was the other day. She once asked what rasisina are made out of, but I wasn't around for that. Worse than that, a few months ago, sitting in the lecture hall waiting fro my Bio class to start, the gil who sat behind me asked if lettuce was a plant.

It is a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier sedan. 2.2L 4 cylinder with the 4-speed auto. It has 235,000kms which is about 183,000 miles I believe. The transmission has been rebuilt, the car has had two owners and was bought in my hometown and driven there. It was used as a commuter car to Toronto everyday which is about 90kms one way. The car is in very good running condition, has been e-tested. I dont think the radio works but I wanted to get a new one anyways because I need a CD player. The car does have some body rust but it is minor (surface rust) under the gas tank and on both rear quarter panels. The rockers are also getting a bit rusty but everything else seems solid. They ev…

I just have to announce that I am sick and tired of finding TRASH in my mailbox from the Obama campaign. It's been coming almost DAILY. Think of how much this $h! is stacking up in our landfills... what a waste of resources and energy, and stupid-ass Obama wants to talk out the other side of his mouth and demand that CAFE go to a ricockulous 60 mpg. What kind of effed-up dream world is this guy living in?.

I have a neighbor who just made an automotive purchase that made me stop and think. He bought a late 70s/early 80s VW Rabbit. But not just any Rabbit, a Rabbit diesel. The car itself is in very good shape since it came from the southwest, but that isn't the kicker. The kicker is the mileage he's getting with this thing. 52 MPG Even better, he brews his own bio-diesel at a cost of .47/gal. Somehow, I think the rest of us lost something along the way from the late 70s to 2011. Made me stop and think.

here's my guess. You can even expand your list to ten topics if you like. -WHY IS THERE NO CAMARO -WHY FWD SUCKS -MONTHLY SALES POSTS -TOYOTA SUCKS FORUM -HOW GM IS BETTER THAN FORD (bonus) -LUTZ, KEEP HIS ASS OR KICK HIS ASS OUT not presenting these in a mean spirited way, I'm just trying to list what most recurring topics have been, seemingly. I would love your take. This is for fun. Good night, gotta get sleep tonight. Can't wait to see all of your lists in the morning.

That's it, I'm done...... :AH-HA_wink: Yep, Actually found a Toyota that I liked....and the wife wants one pretty bad. I hear a replacement for the Cavvie Sedan (or the Cobalt, if it doesn't stop pissing me off..) I went the the local dealership, and test drove a 2009....... Vibe You can stop worrying now.... Anyways, this little car surprised me. I wasn't expecting much, as the last gen was so-so. The local dealership got their first 1.8 auto one in....a nice gray....My random comments: - Holy cow-this thing has a buttload of cuploaders! Add a keg, and you could have a party in there! The usual ones up front, ones that…

Today as I sat behind yet another Toyota Highlander Limited 4X4 Automatic V6 at a stop light, it hit me...all of this badging announcing to the world what your car is equiped with really makes me mad! It is unsightly, usually misalligned, and truthfully, what purpose does it serve? Add to it the obligatory dealership logo tag, and it really starts cluttering up the back ends of cars. Am I the only person who hates this? Also, a worst offenders or oddest thing you have ever seen listed on the back of a car as an option list would be fun to read. I really hope that GM cuts down on the badging I have seen in early shots shown here of the G8 GT V8...all of which was p…

So XP came along with me on a recent roadtrip for business. There's a long story behind this but basically the pic speaks for itself. I was doing about 110 when we passed a cleverly hidden State Trooper. (not really but I was staring at my speedo not the median) For reasons which I care not discuss I got my car towed & impounded for about 20 minutes... after the whole ordeal was over (no serious trouble, mostly a waste of time) XP looks over at a crunched 18-wheeler in the impound lot... he casually says: "Wow, that $hit jack-knifed huh?" to which the flatbed driver responds: Yeah... that truck killed a 12 year old girl yesterday. The poor child…

Your MPG - Fueleconomy.gov On the topic of fuel economy, does anyone share their MPG? With the CRX back on the road, I've started to input my fill ups onto their website. It's interesting to compare the highest fuel efficient cars as rated by the EPA with those of actual users.

I have Windows XP. If the mouse doesn't move for a while, my computer goes to "notepad", mspaint", "calculator" and other places, by itself, then it clicks back to the screen I was viewing. What do I go into to stop that nonsense? Is that some sort of "demo" I can get rid of? Also, I have some movies on VHS that I don't want to throw away. Is there a machine that will record my VHS tapes onto DVD directly? I don't want to buy the machine, I just want to maybe rent it or take them somewhere and have them converted. Thanks for any help.

I'll let the pics do the talking.... Yeah... My mom wrecked the Blazer this morning. Don't worry... she walked away and is okay for the most part. Thank god. Anyways, it was foggy and the roads were wet... some deer were on the road, she hit the brakes and tried to avoid hitting them. She swerved off the road, hitting a bank and a huge rock. It flew through the air, flipped over, and landed on its roof. It then slid for about 20 feet. It looks totaled to me. Here's where she wrecked:

Maybe some people are used to snow this late but those of us in Washington State aren't. My question is simple, who ordered it and who deserves the punishment? I doon't usually mind snow but last night on the flightline was pretty dang cold and guess what, its doing it again. So much for spring.

I am about ready to buy a new car, and have narrowed the search down to a previous generation E-class, 2007-2009, or a used Hyundai Genesis 4.6. I am looking for rwd, and not really a fan of the 300C or the CTS, and don't want a BMW either. So that leaves me with these two, first up is a 43,000 mile Genesis 4.6 and it is under a 2 hour drive to the dealer. http://www.ncautoauction.com/detail-2009-hyundai-genesis-4dr_sdn_4_6l_v8-used-10629235.html The other option is a 2008, 69,000 mile E550 with AMG sport package and Designo interior package, so it is fully loaded, with a good carfax report, but I would be buying it without seeing it in person and have to spend $750 t…

Just a quick update, since I'm exhausted and not only did it all happen so fast, it happened during me preparing, giving, grading, and filing for, a State Exam. I lost hearing in my right ear for a month. Doctors determined it was full of fluid, but why wasn't it draining? Turns out after tests and a catscan, there was a growth inside my head causing pressure and blockage. Anyhoo, doctor insisted it come out right away because it was large and of my age it and its location, there were possibilities of cancer. I went in, it seemed odd that both of the nurses attending me (one in Ambulatory Surgery, and one in the OR) actually spoke Italian. The last thing I rememb…

Well we finally got our yearly ice storm. So far its only about a quarter of an inch, but still, bad things happen. I was going to get something out of the back of my car and slipped on the ice, hit my back, kinda hurt but not too bad. The drive home was interesting, the LeSabre did better than most other cars on the road, mostly because I'm a better driver than most others. A guy in an F-350 flew by me on the highway (I was going about 30, he had to have been doing 60) then noticed traffic was at a standstill in front of him and slid off the road. There was a FWD Regal in front of me that also noticed too late that traffic up ahead was stopped, so he slammed on his …

As you are reading this, you will notice the animated GIF files in my signature and in my Avatar. I have had one or two complaints about them, in that they are slowing down connections, browsing, etc. Really, the number of complaints is like 0.00001 of the site's members, but perhaps there are those who find them annoying and haven't said anything. I understand members still have dial-up internet and my files would be a huge drain on their speed. My question is, should I keep them going? I don't have a poll set up because I think that'd be dumb, because there could be some sort of middle ground or compromise, instead of just "Yes" or "No."

We who post here, we're red-blooded CAR fans...we like performance, we like being low to the ground...they're simply more interesting, more fun, and they just do it for us.... In the beginning, SUVs were called 4x4s, and were only made by six companies: Jeep Land Rover Toyota (Land Cruiser has to be one of the greatest inventions) Chevy/GMC Ford Dodge Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Nissan, and Mercedes came in with their entries in the late 70s and early 80s...they all were rugged, real off-roading machines that knew their role, and left all of that trying to be the best peoplemover and citymobile crap to cars, the way mature intended. Then, two ugly things happened: Suzuk…

Just about 2 years ago I bought an HP Photosmart945 digital camera (about $500). It has been used lightly and always kept in its original styrofoam packaging. Well, a few weeks ago it just decided to stop working. So, I went through all of the troubleshooting procedures and ran the camera's own diagnostic tests all to no avail. I then went online and tried all of the HP suggestions there - no dice. Then, I go online with an HP tech in a live chat - we try everything without luck. Now, after investing about 3 hours of my day on this, the result is: 1) it's out of warranty 2) HP doesn't repair their cameras 3) my only options are an "upgrade" from HP of my choice of severa…

For me, tomorrow is the first day of the fall semester. I got an email from the instructor of my Saturday class (sports economics) and it basically said we weren't meeting this week and will only meet a couple of times a month, how sweet is that? The one bad thing about back-to-school time is the stupid parents who are raising stupid lazy kids, they sit there, on the side of the road twenty feet from the bus stop in order to pick their kid up and drive them 200 feet to the house. I could *maybe* see that if it was a really busy street they lived on or something, but it is a freaking cul-de-sac, nobody drives down it except you, woman in the red Caravan, and you onl…

Today my dad purchased a 2009 Impala LS in Slate Metallic, which will arrive on Thursday. It's the one I mentioned in the start of my previous thread. It's equipped much like my 2007 Impala, with Ebony Cloth buckets, OnStar, XM, Leather wheel, Folding Seat, 16" Alloys and Spoiler, but in addition this one also has Bluetooth and the now standard Dual-Zone climate control. Currently has 17000km (10500mi) on it and is less than a year since manufacture (mid-March 2009). Since it was built before the bankruptcy so this is probably the newest vehicle we'll ever have that was made by General Motors Corporation versus General Motors Company LLC. That being said there migh…

The premise is simple: you have $35,000 to spend on a muscle car/pony car of your choice. Which engine, trans, and trim package would get your money? Fully loaded Camaro RS (2.0T or V6), Mustang (3.7L or 2.3EB), Challenger 3.6L? Maybe you like all performance and no frills with a base SS, GT, R/T?

Weeeel, today was the first "major" snowstorm of the year and I went alone to church this morning, so I was driving my G5. You may recall when I purchased it in May. When I was going through the buying process I was also looking at another Impala, the G6 and the GP. Fact is I wanted to go small because it was ultimately just going to end up my brother's car. When I was first looking at said car the window sticker, the build sheet, and a GM vehicle history printout I was supplied with all showed the car was equipped with the Enhanced Traction System, which has two prerequisites. In order to have ETS the car must have ABS and the 4SP Auto transmission. The reason f…

My (non-car-guy) friend is looking for something to replace his 2002 Hyundai Accent. This is the friend of whom asked me to sell his 70s Ford LTD for him. Basically, he feels his car is way too small and way too basic, which is quite understandable. It is a lowly Accent, afterall. He also had to cough up $1k when the timing belt snapped and bent some valves at the end of last year. Otherwise, it's been a relatively good car to him. He's looking to move up into something thats more liveable and will be reliable. One of his main critera is that he doesn't want to drive something that everyone has. My point of posting is... We came across a 2001 Cadillac Catera with only …

Yes I am very much alive... for those who might have been wondering. Busier than ever, now a dad 3 times over. Since this is C&G and not a sewing circle, and since I do not really "social-network" all that much anyway I'll just fill you in on the car 411 and we can go from there. As of last year it finally happened... I LOST COUNT as to how many cars I have actually "owned" over the years. Including demolition derby cars & cars I daily drove as my own even though they belonged legally to a buddy &/or spouse, I have owned approx 61 vehicles. First the BAD news: as of just two weeks ago I no longer own the 1959 Buick LeSabre that I waited so lon…

Who knows where this topic may go, but let's play with it anyway.... When it came to cars and how I looked at them, these were the following weird thoughts that came to mind: -Until at least 88, I didn't understand that new cars replaced older versions of the same nameplate. I basically figured all these different looks of cars were still being built alongside one another. For instance: The Nissan Hardbody came out in 1986. I thought it was a bigger truck, or some truck made of different metal or something. I figured the older version was still available new at the dealer and that you still had a choice. I also thought the first-gen F-body was the "co…

Something came up today that, if it pans out, would mean a big change for me. Unfortunately, it would also mean an unpleasant commute inside the city limits of Philadelphia every day. I hate cities, but this could be worth the aggravation. So, I'm thinking that my Tahoe isn't the right beast for such a commute (should this happen). Pushing 200k and at 15 years old, asking it to do a high-traffic, 40 mile slog everyday doesn't seem advisible. It is very early to be thinking about this, but should it happen, a change will need to be made for daily driver purposes. I'm thinking small 4x4 pickup. But I'm not married to that idea in any way. Input?
