I was getting oil changes and inspection on the Hawk and the Silverado today and the dealer had a gorgeoous black 07 Av on the lot. So here are some pics. I'll post more later.

As you gape at the below pictures and ready your snide 'see; old cars suck' commentary... please keep in mind that the pics you are used to seeing are 30-MPH impacts into stationary objects. The below pics (from the IIHS) were conducted from 43 to 49-MPH... BUT as both vehicles were moving towards each other, that's an 86 to 98-MPH impact. Still, and I agree: yikes.

So yeah... after all the years of joking and making fun of Frank for popping his collar, I finally feel bad for it since I see the logic in it. You see... popped collars not only keep youre neck warm... they hide hickeys well. Ah... for those nonexistant few that noticed my own nonexistance this weekend, it was because I travelled down to Somerset, Pa to meet a cool boy I've been chatting with. For having only chatted with him online, I unusually liked him alot. So, in my search for love and wanting to finally be in a relationship with a guy, I went down to meet him. Needless to say, we hit it off pretty well, as I had hoped. We're very similar and get along great. So …

Since I graduated high school, I have been on a never ending quest to figure out what I want to do, because of this I have had several different majors(Education, Geology, Art History ((WTF??)), English, Business and Psychology are the highlights) and finally decided to take my education more slowly so I could focus on the big picture. Well, the big picture has finally led me to a path I can see myself following. After I get my Associate degree this coming December I will enroll at either Missouri State University or re-enroll at the University of Missouri-Columbia, regardless of which school I choose, I will major in journalism. And if I do become an automotive jou…

Yeppers... and he is also single agained. It just didnt work out between me and Erik. The distance killed us. We hadn't seen each other in about a month and half and barely talked at all anymore. So... I finally broke it off with him. He didn't really say much, so I cant say he didn't expect it in a way. And this is besides the fact that I ended up hooking up with a guy I had previously seen. It was one of those things I couldn't help. I wasnt getting what I needed from Erik. I mean, it's quite sad when straight guys will give you more affection than your own BF. So I just did and I don't regret it. I always meant to tell him, but like usual, he never had the time to t…

Here in Ohio, pretty stupid actually. My wife works for a local College, and a girl and her mother were recently complaining bitterly about the girls financial aid. Seems that they were very upset about being charged the CHEAPER in state tuition rate... My wife pointed out that they were from Cleveland...and they wanted to argue that wasn't really part of Ohio. Same girl had flunked bio Chemistry 4 times, and they girl and her mom were indignant that the girls chances of getting into med school were going down the drain. They demanded a chance to take the class again at no charge...and wanted to know why the teachers at the College couldn't teach. Wife pointed out t…

The following is part of what greeted friends/family in an Email sent about 8:15p (central) on January 6, 2003: Hard to believe it has been 4 years since that Email was sent. A lot has changed (including Joy's boyfriend becoming her husband) ... some things have stayed the same. In a couple months (March), it'll be 20 years since my second open heart surgery, which was 9 months before my then-best-friend died 2 days after Christmas of an asthma attack. And, later this year, it'll be 30 years since my first open heart surgery. Thanks to (and despite) these anniversaries, life continues to be good ! For 2007, I'll be planning a road trip or two and perhaps doing ano…

Without voiding the warranty, what is the best way to check whether the engine is healthy, if no codes come back on the OBDII? Also, if there are signs of extremely fine sludge buildup (consistency of a clayey substance instead of a sandy material) at the bottom of the oil pan/sump is that considered normal wear and tear or initial stages of a bigger problem?

Finally owning a house, it's time to set up the garage like I want. Pics: .jpg" border="0" class="linked-image" /> So, 2-car garage, extra deep on one side. Door on the right goes to the back yard, door on the left goes inside. I know I want to: -add insulation -generous amounts of pegboard -mount bench grinder & vice someplace -probably more lighting (though it is brighter than the pics make it seem) -rack for extra set of wheels (autox) -big air compressor -sink (pre-plumbed beside door in front of white car) -table or miter saw I'm expecting to decide to rebuild the work bench somewhat. It's very sturdy, but underneath is almost us…

Okay, we've all had our fun with outright enthusiast cars and their fabulous ICE engines, but now it's time to be a little more ecologically conscious. Rules- 1) Production cars only. 2) These are your only vehicles. 3) Any era and market is allowed. 4) MUST BE HYBRIDS!! 5) Maximum of 5 choices. Though if you wish to expand to a Top 10 after picking 5, that is fine. Have fun!

Been a while since I've been online.... But, what a summer it has been! Lots of gatherings of all sorts...with a road trip in the mix...and more to come YET this YEAR! From Friday, August 8, to Tuesday, August 12, I traveled through 8 states in 5 days...and met up with friends and family along the way. I rented a Dodge Charger, even after the original rental place had no cars available despite my reservation. The Dodge Charger was a pleasure to drive...on the road trip. Or that you could crawl into a hole? Here are the Testimonials of a few! people who did.... FIRST TESTIMONY: I walked into a hair salon with my husband and three kids in tow and asked loudly, 'How much do you charge for a shampoo and a blow job?' I've had several jerk bosses over the years. One would think that a boss with a very different approach MIGHT be a good thing. Not so in my experience. I do much better with the "in your face, tell-it-like-it-is" bosses. That way, you blow up and get it over with. My jerk boss is a flatliner who, not surprisingly, is passive aggressive. He and I have had our problems. But THIS STORY is NOT about me. I have this annoying, geeky but well-intentioned co-worker that is nearing retirement. He put his vacation days request down on the calendar. It is understood that if no one says anything to you and the schedule makes it onto a spreasheet, you've got the vacation da…

While out today, standing at a street corner waiting for the walk light, I heard this throaty whail from a car behind me, and not having seen it, immediately I thought that sounds like an Infinity G35 Coupe....sure enough turned to see and it was. Jay informed me that Chief passed away on January 4, 2006. He had been sick for some time, and his heart gave out. I know a lot of you will be as upset as I am. Chief was a member who always had a great outlook on life. His posts were thoughtful, informative, and just plain clever. I guess the engineers nowadays are really up to something. If you look under the hood of the Civic, you'd notice there is absolutely NO space for any kind of work. This leads to strange engine layouts The other day when me and my friends were holding a car wash fest, the guy with a Civic Si was changing his headlight bulbs to the white ones. Interesting enough, you have to take out the whole coolant tank to reach the bulbs. I accidently picked it up, and coolant was leaking from it. I started hearing cursing and foul language. In short, you had to unlatch the battery, and remove the coolant tank for you to get to the bulbs. Car engineers these days... Or should I …

Today was my parents' 23rd anniversary so they went out to have a nice day for themselves. Since the HHR has continued to develop more mysterious unhealthy noises, they had been thinking about potential replacements, with a Focus hatchback high on the list. So during their driving about they stopped at a Ford dealer just to look around. The dealer had no Focii in stock and did not know when they would get any more, so my parents test drove a couple others, an Escape and an Edge. Long story short, they promptly traded the HHR for a black 2012 Ford Escape.

Downing of Flight MH17, Who is REALLY to BLAME? Editorial G. So this isn't a Dream Garage thread or anything, but in keeping in spirits with it being Halloween, post up some of your favorite cars that you think pair nicely with this kinda-sorta-holiday. Maybe you think they just have a sinister, dark look or demeanor to them. Maybe they were offered in color schemes that befit the occassion. Whatever the reason, post 'em up!! I'll start. I always thought the LF-A kinda looked like an angry jack-o-lantern. Which I totally love. It's one of all-time favorite cars. Not to mention that V10 banshee wail!

My local (literally right around the corner from where I live), small-time Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealer is closing per GM, at least that's what I was told today by the business manager. About a month ago, I noticed the inventory of older cars & trucks stored in the back of the dealership were missing. Then I noticed the used car inventory became smaller and smaller each passing week; the new vehicle inventory didn't seem to get any larger either (I noticed that the 4 G8 GT sedans they received apparently are their last new car deliveries; only one sold, the other 3 are still there with AMP stickers on them for $3k each ). Then on Saturday as I was passing the dealer…

PART 1 ... SELECT QUOTES, Ambrose Bierce's "Devil's Dictionary": Arrest = Formally to detain one accused of unusualness Corporation = An ingenious device for obtaining individual profit without individual responsibility Dictionary = A malevolent literary device for cramping the growth of a language and making it hard and inelastic. This dictionary, however, is a most useful work. Electricity = The cause of all natural phenomena not known to be caused by something else. Justice = A commodity which in a more or less adulterated condition the State sells to the citizen as a reward for his allegiance, taxes and personal service. Logic = The art of thinking and re…

Why do companies waste money advetising things that sell very poorly. I see boatloads of commercials for the Ford Flex which sells less than 2000 per month. Mercury and Mitsibishi run endless amounts of commercials and don't sell hardly any vehicles. This wasted money should go towards makng more desirable vehicles.

Anyways I have noticed on 2004/2005 Impala models some have a cloth door insert. I have seen the cloth inserts with cloth seats and without but never with leather. I have looked through my 2001-2005 Impala Brochure collection and found nothing. I have checked GM's media site and found nothing under year to year changes. Can anyone shed some light on this? Anyways here is the photograph...

I'm looking into a sun visor upgrade for my '99 Saturn SC2. I noticed today while junkyarding that '90's Grand Am's and some other '90's and early '00's GM cars seem to share the same 3-screw mounting design. I didn't get a chance to test and see if the visors really would swap, but they look the same, and I could easily believe that Saturn dipped into the parts pin for their visor hardware. So, what I'm hoping to find is that some model/trim level that uses this 3-screw mounting design (for the swivel end) came with sun visors that had the extension flap piece. I have it in my suburban, I've had it in buicks past, and would like that little slide out extension in th…

PHOENIX – Arizona's governor vows the state's tough new law targeting illegal immigration will be implemented with no tolerance for racial profiling, but at least two advocacy groups were preparing legal challenges and Mexico has warned that the law could affect cross-border relations. Republican Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill that supporters said would take handcuffs off police in dealing with illegal immigration in Arizona, the nation's busiest gateway for human and drug smuggling from Mexico and home to an estimated 460,000 illegal immigrants. The law requires police to question people about their immigration status — including asking for identificat…

Detroit – In a remarkable, trendsetting move, the General Motors board unanimously voted in favour of re-appointing Richard 'Rick' Wagoner as CEO of the automotive corporation. "We're very pleased to have Rick back on board, despite his circumstances of having been dead for over two decades. The fact that he took the time to travel back from the future is testament to the man's devotion to our company" Wagoner, who died in the year 2035, was reanimated in 2054 through a combination of nano-technology and voodoo by the United States of Canada. The USC's hopes are that by sending Zombie Wagoner back to the past, he'll use his expertise to recoup bailout funds in a quick…

I'm pretty limited: 1. Pictionary 2. Trivial pursuit Haven't played cards in over 10 years. Pictionary: got "Times Square" once...quickly drew an aerial of the 5 boroughs and then lined in "Bdwy - 7th - 42nd" and our team got it as a result of it. I had to draw fast. Trivial Pursuit: you want me on your team for the geography questions...this chick once insisted she knew the answer and didn't...it was about a body of water touching Iran....the answer was "Caspian Sea" and I knew that...well, we got it wrong....pushy bitch.

...but members and their bikes too! I was biking home after an exam... This guy in a blue Corolla came from the back, heavily accelerating to overtake two bikes behind me, and missed me by an inch. But I was knocked into a curb and fell off my bike onto the sidewalk. And this was UW Ring Road, with a speed limit of 20km/h. He was more like going 50. Add 2 scratches + 2 blood injuries for me...

I know I'm getting ahead of things, but I can't help thinking about the next "toy" I'll get after the Hawk is gone. Station wagon, 2-door Tahoe, El Camino... I'd really like to find something interesting and low-buck, you know, guilt-free cool. I really want to pump up the fun-per-dollar factor this go round. It could be a get in and drive cruiser, a project, even a curiosity. I just want something I can enjoy without breaking the bank. And, I'd like to be able to haul the pups around in it without worrying about them trashing it.

I had to go renew mu license today, so I get there and the chick tells me to stand in front of the blue thing then like 4 seconds later tells me to go sit down, it'll be ready in a few minutes. She never gave me a warning that she was taking the pic, I look like a complete douchebag in it because I was just kinda spacing out waiting for her to ask me if I was ready. Worst part is that its not up for renewal again until 2012, so I'm going to have to "lose" it sometime in the next couple of years to get another one. Also part of my License bureau trip was legalizing the Fusion. Turns out I never paid my 2005 personal property tax (ono the Saturn, this year I pay on the…

So this Spring I've been working to make our yard a nicer place. The back/side yard has been, since we moved her last year, a barren expanse of mostly dirt and some weeds. That's all changing, as there is now grass growing quite well there, after some tilling, seeding, and watering. Soon it'll be time fort eh first mow. We've been using my Uncle's mower for the rest of the yard, but I want my own. When I was younger I used to fix mowers and I kinda miss doing that. A search on Craigslist lands me a Brute 22" Self-Propelled mower. Owner said he bought it last year and used it until the engine died and the manufacturer wouldn't warranty it, so he decided to get rid of it.…

Marcia has never gotten over me cheating on her in 2002. It was a mistake, we were not togeather in the official, formal sense but we were still living togeather and it was a stupid mistake on my part. In the past few weeks our relationship has come to a gridning halt. You might say it smacked into an iceberg and we're sinking... Sofia of course is the real victim & there's a lot of anger, hatred, mixed emotion & confusion between us in this huge emotional divide. Last night, I made what might become the most beautiful "mistakes" of my life when I met up and went on a informal date with a girl I met through the internet. There's so much more…

I'm not sure, maybe I'm just mentally ill or something. In the past two days, I've been going around, pissing people off and doing some really obnoxious things. First I threw the recycling bins at the front porch where my housemates enter, seeing the bins sitting around after I took them after the garbage day. Then at work, I seemed to have made the already not so pleasant relation with my co-worker co-ops worse. Today one of my coworkers made a stupid comment on how the Camry was a sports car, I literally yelled at him. He was like astonished. Then I started making some stupid comments about my other co-worker, somehow to just for the heck of getting her irritated. Th…
