First off, like the new look for C&G....now onto the story... Tonight while waiting to turn into a Dunkin Donuts, sitting in the left lane on the northbound side of a road called Central Park Avenue, I was at a full stop with my left indicator on, sitting behind a Saturn L-Series also with it's left signal on. While we were both waiting to turn into Dunkin, cars coming southbound in both lanes, a Chevy Express van sideswipes my Riviera's left rear quarter panel and wheel well, WHILE going into oncoming traffic in the southbound lanes, to cut me and the Saturn off. After a moment of shock, my girlfriend shouts at me to catch him and get his plate #, I pull up behin…

Lately I've been in this strange mindset of trying to change things to get it all fresher. What do I mean? Well, last month I got this grand idea to completely re-design my entire bedroom (except the paint on the walls.. it's a badass paint job). I mean, I'm going so far as having my dad make me a bed (I designed it, he's making it) along with us making me a new desk. Then, we're getting new carpet (thanks, in part, to the money I'm getting from selling the Camaro.. yes, it's sold(!!) to a friend of mine from college) through the entire house, including my room. Okay, well that's just one part.. an almost completely different room. Well, last week I was thinking about i…

Ok, you are in a supermarket or at Costco or in a large office building. You are walking around a corner or going down the aisle and you almost run into / come face-to-face with a person who has a disease which has disfigured them, have been severely burned or subjected to some other tragedy that has markedly altered their appearance. Because of the fact that you were taken off guard and you were hurrying about, you would have ordinarily tried to be very composed, but I think that what happens is that you may make eye contact and then look away a little TOO quickly. You wind up feeling real bad. But you also know that others, in similar circumstances, may have reac…

I don't want to turn this into politicizing, or an attack on any one group or party, though it is clear what party my outrage is against. I am not trying to attack the group, but moreso the leaders of it who are in office now. The ones who are, sadly, corrupting their party and leading this nation down ever more tenser halls. Why should we divide so much? Why can't we all just agree and meet in the middle, that's supposed to be the beauty of our government, is that we have two parties to check and balance each other for the benefit of the public. One party that favors more government involvement and one that favors less. But where did we go wrong that all we can do is t…

Hey there, so last week I was trying to develop my photoshop skills (specifically my ability to create images with a 3-d metallic finish). To do so, I created a modified Saturn logo as practice. Paolino asked me to try my hand at Buick, and after a week of delay (Hey, I had 2 papers and an exam!) I actually finished one this morning. In all honesty, I don't think i like it. It's a little too different, and doesn't exude the classy yet modern that Buick is trying to exude. I'll probably try again, but until then I present to you: "Jon's Official-Unofficial-2008 Buick Logo"! *Cue Generic Pseudo-Electronica AutoShow Debut Music*

And it will be as conventional an automobile as my GM Card money and the difference can buy. However, the car after that will be different. I will try to hang on to my next purchase for a while. But I was thinking: what will dealership lots be filled with in 10 yrs? What do you think? I put down hybrid because it's a technology that will undoubtedly get better. So with Trump's immigration ban being the headline everywhere you look, I thought this would make for a good 'UDG' thread. There will be 2 lists as part of this one- List 1 Rules: 1)These are your only vehicles. 2)Must be production models. 3)Any era is allowed. 4)Your choices must be built by a foreign auto manufacturer AND NOT OFFERED FOR SALE IN THE US. List 2 Rules: Same as above, but the vehicles can be sold in the US. Still must be foreign-made, though.

of my malibu SS sedan. I absolutley love it. The graphite colored cloth/leather interior with the faux aluminum trim, 3 spoke wheel and other SS trim bits is really sharp. the 3.9 is deffinetly fast in this lighter malibu than it is in teh g6 gtp and the gtp was getting very respectable mid to low 0-60 times and good quarter mile times to begin with. The sport suspension and hurdallic steering are very well balllanced and calibrated and I like the tossability and handling of the shorter wheelbase epsilon though it makes for noticably more tourqe steer than the long wheelbase cars. Sheez, I would have liked to have a photo upon starting this month's car spotting thread, but I was driving on the freeway a ways behind it. I saw a '95 or '96 Buick Riviera in a candy apple red metallic color which may have been an extra cost color that year. There's nothing really off the charts about such a sighting except that you don't see them that often, it was in excellent condition, and, from the rear, and rear 3/4, views, the strong fender flanks and the almost oval shape of the slightly inset rear fascia and tail lamp assembly make a pretty strong (and good) statement. (I am definitely not a fan of what I call its preying mantis front end.)

So I took a trip to visit a couple of my friends who live 85 miles from where I am. Ended up taking the Civic, which my brother drives, because I don't trust the '95 LSS on the highway for that long, and I figured I'd save quite a bit of gas... On the way there I went 80-85 most of the time with a group of cars. The tank wasn't full to begin with and the Civic does not have a mileage calculator onboard, so I have no idea what mileage I got on the way there. However, on the way back I filled up about a mile from the interstate, set the cruise to 61mph (I decided I should cruise at 2000rpm, don't know why I thought that was a good number to pick, just did). I was by myself…

NAFTA The latest rounds of the renegotiation talks have started, and they have an emphasis on U.S. demanding new content rules. Just to summarize, the U.S. wants more domestic content, which means NAFTA region countries, and 50% mandatory U.S. content, just to name a few of the changes. This hopefully isn't too political of an issue, it's more to do with how you feel about the rules should be for automakers and their suppliers doing business in America, Canada and Mexico. I think the U.S. demands - on paper, atleast are fair. U.S. is the largest market for autos in NAFTA region. I want to hear more of just how you feel about this issue. Feel free to so…

Anyway, I have always wanted to sell new Chevrolets and I'm not sure if this is feasible. It is something I would like to do part time while still employeed to test the waters... Is there anyone here who has experience with this field? Is the pay good, is it stressful or is it rewarding. I would definately NOT be one of those slimeballs just looking to make a sale... I have been thinking about this. I have hung on to a lot of friends across time and miles despite career changes and moves. Some are worth hanging on to. I have also thought about some friends (both male and female) who turned out to be either plain idiots or self-centered. The male friends I can think of that I have parted ways with were based on the fact that they wanted me to: (1) bail them out of something financially, or (2) they got married and this made the friendship go south in a hurry because their wives evidently set their social calendar. The female friends I can think of that I have parted ways with either: (1) liked me more than I liked them and wan…

From the domestic automakers good journalist friend........yup you guessed it: Christine Tierney! Sales of import brands rose sharply in the first half of August as Detroit automakers ran out of new car and truck supplies after extending generous employee-style discounts to all buyers. General Motors Corp., which initiated the employee discount plan in June, saw its share of the U.S. market drop from 29 percent in July to below 25 percent in the first two weeks of August, according to online auto research site Edmunds.com. Ford Motor Co. and Chrysler Corp., which matched GM's plan in July, fared slightly better in the first half of August while Japanese…

When it comes to global warming, hamburgers are the Hummers of food, scientists say. Simply switching from steak to salad could cut as much carbon as leaving the car at home a couple days a week. That's because beef is such an incredibly inefficient food to produce and cows release so much harmful methane into the atmosphere, said Nathan Pelletier of Dalhousie University in Canada. Pelletier is one of a growing number of scientists studying the environmental costs of food from field to plate. By looking at everything from how much grain a cow eats before it is ready for slaughter to the emissions released by manure, they are getting a clearer idea of the true …

Motley Fool Is Ford Just Junk? Thursday August 24, 3:51 pm ET By Rich Smith Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Last year, one of the major headlines in the automaking world was that No. 2 U.S. seller Ford (NYSE: F - News) had its credit rating cut to "junk." This July, the firm lost its second-place slot in U.S. auto sales to Toyota (NYSE: TM - News). Earlier this month, with car buyers apparently agreeing that its cars are as junky as its credit, Ford again took the headlines when it announced dramatic production cuts. ADVERTISEMENT And today, the company detailed another plan designed to clear out unsold inventory and boost market share in one fell swoop --…

Disturbia It is one of those few films that is so much more than one that is meant to be scary, and at PG13, I am afraid that too many people would let this slip off from their radars as any sort of a "must see". Within the first 15 minuted of this film I laughed, cried *honestly*, felt rage, and sympathy. One is able to see how the characters are developed as one is introduced to them, learn about them, and see how they change. I would highly recommend seeing this production, but make sure you take someone with you, otherwise, the opening sequence is very hard.

Okay, so this is going to be a somewhat smaller pool to draw from, but I thought this one would really make people explore and maybe uncover some previously unknown gems. I hope everyone enjoys it. Rules- 1) Production vehicles only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only cars. 4) Vehicles MUST be a cylinder count previously not featured, or some other form of ICE. Ie- 3 cyl, 5 cyl, 16, cyl, rotary, etc. 5) Maximum of 5 choices, but you can expand beyond your top 5 to 10 if you wish. 6) No hybrids. Fully gas engines.

Ford, GM, Mazda recall cars for safety problems Wed Apr 12, 7:16 PM ET Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - news), General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - news) and Mazda Motor Corp. Ford is recalling over 19,000 Mustang Cobras from the 2003 and 2004 model years because the accelerator pedal can stick on the floor carpeting in the car, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said. The NHTSA said the accelerator problem could cause crashes when the pedal catches on a cutout area of the floor carpeting during sharp acceleration. Ford will install carpet "shields" to addr…

Here's a blast from my past. When I got my first computer, I only had MS Paint to play around with and I found the drawings that I did pixel by pixel. Not too bad with what I had to work with. I'm guessing this was 1993/94.

As fellow chatters on one of my favorite website (this one, if you didn't know), I wanted to give you guys a first glimpse of a revived online magazine: AutomotiveTraveler. Some of you have seen the individual articles, but please take a look at the first full publication in years. Make some comments...share with your friends if you like it...but just take a look. I'd be interested to hear what you think of it. http://automotivetraveler.com/jump/2124

I'm back to looking at trucks for myself and the used vehicle pricing is insane. 2011 F-150 Ecoboost Supercab, leather, no nav, no-sunroof, 4x4... 63k miles ... $35,000 2013 Tacoma Double Cab, 2wd, V6, cloth seats, no sun-roof, rollin on 16s... 35k miles, $32,599 2010 Canyon Crew Cab, 64k miles, cloth seats, no sun-roof, $23,077 And these are their "no haggle" prices.... I'll have whatever they're smoking....

I was just tellind Oldsmoboio about a neat old Toronado that lives in a garage not far from where I live. Right on the street where the olds lives, lives my son Joel's friend Lucas. Lucas just got a Mercedees 230 Kompressor (think I've got that right) as a 16th birthday present. New. Wish I was that lucky when I was sixteen.... Chris

Has anyone received a cell phone call from 786-879-6669 (traced to a metro PCS phone in Miami) that leaves a message, in garbled Spanish? I have checked on the internet and found that many people have been getting these calls. I've complained to T-Mobile, but those on Cingular and Verizon have also been victim. The number has called my cell phone multiple times the last month (auto-dialer) and when you call the number back, there is no answer or busy.

..no, you pervert, my Porsche "virginity." About a month ago, I happened to be sitting in front of my computer when an email came in from the dealership I got my A5 from. They were having a "Day at the track" event for their customers and the first 75 people to reply would get a FREE track day and free instruction. Hmm…let me think…. Yes, I'll attend. As the day neared, I thought I was going to miss out. My A5 wasn't going to be available to drive that day. I emailed them back and said they should probably give my spot to someone else. The reply was something like "Oh, no, we'll have cars there for you to drive. You should definitely still come." Disaster averted. The…

Motoring Memories: Buick Wildcat, 1962-1970 Story and photo by Bill Vance Buick was long known as a somewhat conservative car, the type favoured by people like doctors and bank mangers. It used overhead valve straight-eight engines exclusively from 1931 to 1952 (its overhead valve V8 came in 1953), and carried an image of muted prestige - more than an Oldsmobile, but not quite the ostentation of a Cadillac. Occasionally however, there was a stepping out of character, and into the performance arena. Examples were the 1936 Century, named for its 161 km/h (100 mph) top speed, and the audacious, turbocharged 1982 Grand National. Another was the Wildcat, an unex…

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3013016&page=1 Unbelievable. I wonder if they know that it was the Fuhrer himself who started VW, as the "people's car"? Ah, a car for the master race, no wonder VW's are so good. That and most Jewish people to this day will still not drive Mercedes and BMW's either, because these companies used slave laborers from the death camps. I don't even know how much of the above article is true, as it's widely known that the Germans stole Opel from GM during WWII, but were made to give it back after the war.

I received permission to share this e-mail with all of you regarding the de-camo-ization of the New Camaro mules: Good morning, Camaro Comrades and Firebird Friends! As most of you know, the past couple of weeks has seen several unauthorized photos of the Camaro -- both interior and exterior -- leaked to the public. Frankly, they've caught us by surprise. Unauthorized photos are, invariably, taken quickly without much thought - and as a result -- are not very flattering. Since then, our Vice Chairman, Bob Lutz has ordered that we remove all the cammo off of the mules and early builds...and in fact our General Manager -- Ed Peper is encouraging you to acti…

I was wondering what would be an interesting small-block or big-block to drop into an 89 Dodge Dakota? It is that old Dakota Sport I found a while a go. It needs work but I am trying to give my teacher ideas for a custom Dakota. For our next school project, he wants to rice up a Civic so I need something that could turn him away from that. What motors would fit? I was thinking something bigger than a 350. A 454 would be interesting but would it fit? One could be easily pulled from an older pickup around here. Just give me suggestions as to what may fit or what would work nicely. GM motors as well as Mopar suggestions would both work. My idea is to lower it, rear disc brak…

So I took the T&C, which we have lovingly dubbed "The Bus" to school today so I could taking my crappy bike and my RC plane to hang out with my friend. Too windy to fly and my bike is a piece of $h! (but I built it from parts I collected in grade school so hey), but I did finally get to vacuum it out. But I digress... After hanging out I went back to school for my last class, and parked at the public parking lot for the riverside park. It's not ment for students but they don't ticket and no one cares Anyway, I get my camera and flash drive and get out of the van and start to walk, when a woman asks if I could help her with her car. Apparently it wo…

Just wanted to give a quick intro... my name's Chris, i'm 18 years old and live in Chelmsford, Massachusetts. My friend Silvester (Sixty8Panther?) told me about this site, and even though I no longer wear a bowtie (well....arrow head?), I'm still a fan of the GM muscle cars and ALL American cars... I drive a 96 Cobra, but I'm trying to sell it. (I'll have to fill ya in on that one, Silvester...) Once I get rid of the Cobra, I'm gonna see about getting a fox body Mustang (87-93). I prefer older cars for many reasons. I personally find them to be more comfortable, even if they arent as luxurious as newer cars, they're easier to work on (sooo much easier), and IMO less stuf…

Went to a local cruise night here in Spotswood, NJ and have some pics to share. First pics of the Best In Show winner. To many, this car may look familiar. Yes, that's my 1963 Studebaker Avanti. I didn't expect to get Best In Show, but I'll certainly take it! Now on to other cars there. There were two other Studes at the show, both Gran Turismo Hawks. This one is a 1964. They were as ahead of their time as the Avanti was.

I figured this show might be good watching considering the whole eco-conscious movement these days. Penn Jillette and his partner, Teller spend about half an hour debunking Hybrid cars and investigating Nuclear Power. It also has Lesbians, but unfortunately for Reg, there's no nudity. Language is kind of coarse, but it's good watchin' if you have a half-hour to burn. I cannot believe Mr. Stern is allowing this go on any longer. DULL SLOW BORING CRAPPY SPURS BASKETBALL. Tim Duncan is the most boring NBA star in history. The don't exactly play LEGAL ball. Robert Horry warms the bench all year so come playoff time he has legs to hit three pointers at key times. And other little tricks to piss people off. Who wants to watch 58-57 games? SPURS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!! DULL DULL DULL DULL DULL DULL DULL! I'd rather watch ocnblu in the wading pool! MY GOD THE SPURS SUCK! GO LEBRON!

Chances are you don't keep tabs on the financial shape of the newspaper industry. Newspapers have literally been around for centuries so it's only sort of natural to assume that they'll never go away, that if you're somehow left as the lone survivor of a nuclear holocaust in the year 2061 you'll easily find a paper copy of the New York Times laying around amidst all of the cockroaches and Volkswagen Beetles. Since the newspaper is somehow the most resilient form of media, there's no need to really worry about it going anywhere and therefore no one should give a damn about what shape the newspaper industry is in financially. I personally have a reason to give a damn since…

In the last 3 weeks, many of my friends/acquaintances have bought new cars. The friend who had been driving an '87 Corolla (his wife's but she made him drive it) bought a new Elantra (which is now his wife's, he gets the Cherokee). My boss recently bought a new Mustang coupe, which made me jealous. Another friend replaced her 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse, totally an exciting move there. A co-worker recently bought a Focus, most impressive thing about that is he paid sticker. All of this has led me to catch new car fever (still want an Edge, though a red Mustang convertible has my eye), I need to find a cure that doesn't involve buying a n…
