I've been looking at them the last few weeks..and it's come down to two. I pod nano Sandisk Sensa (video ot stick) I need it more for the music than anything, so the extra stuff is no big deal. I'm leaning a bit toward the sensa because it has a FM tuner, and you can add memory.... Opinions? Ideas? Yours on fire right now? I'm listening...i need to learn more....

Had a sad moment Friday where I said goodby to a trusted friend that never let me down no matter what I asked that friend to do. This is my '94 F-150 XL Special. Only vehicle I myself have bought new (out of 20). 300 CI I-6, 4-spd auto, 3.08s out back, 2WD. Almost no options, but did come w/ AM-FM & A/C- enough for me. Truck has rolled 146K since '94, tho by the 5/08 inspection sticker, apparently I haven't driven it much in the last 11 months. Body is really excellent except for 1 thing- over both rear wheelwells, it's starting to rot from the inside- the rest is arrow straight & rust-free. Not so the undercarriage- an inadvertant drive thru a flooded…

http://editorial.autos.msn.com/slideshow.a...amp;GT1=22008#1 Hot Wheels: America's 10 Most Stolen Cars By James Tate of MSN Autos It's a car owner's worst nightmare: stepping outside at home, office or grocery store only to find a pile of broken glass where the car was once parked. The police call it auto theft. We call it a pain in the . . . well, you know what. A car is stolen every 26 seconds in the United States, costing the American public nearly $7.6 billion each year. And if the National Insurance Crime Bureau's list of the most frequently stolen cars of 2008 is any indication, auto theft can happen to anyone. While it's no surprise that some cars are more li…

"GM's future in balance with meeting of CEOs" <---- MSN Today headline WHY, may I ask, does the media always have to put GM in some sort of negative spot? This is utter bull$h!. What about the future of Nissan and Renault? Their "future" is on the other end of the scales... also "in the balance", as it were, yet MSN chooses to single out the world's #1 automaker as somehow weak./RANT!

was setting up today..... caught some nice pics of the new GM stuff. more in a bit...... impressions ATS is sharp, looks more egglike in person but extremely dynamic. New XTS is large! Boatlike, between the two new Cadillacs, a very definite shift in design......more egglike, less chiseled, quite futuristic. In ten years one will be able to see how these cars ushered in new design directions Encore - extremely impressed. For the small size it looks robust and substantial. Should be a huge hit with women. New Fusion and Escape - i gotta say, the new Escape could possibly be a miss. I did not like it from the first look. I think folks like the tough boxy look! …

First, to the admins, I wasn't sure were to put this as it is a comparison so it isn't just Ram or Toyota.. so move it as necessary. Also, I assume you do not want entire articles copied and pasted so I'll start it and then post a link to the rest of it. To the article. "Ah, the off-road pickup. The niche's profile has really been elevated over the past half-decade even if sub-brands such as Pro-4X, FX4, and Z71 have propped the field up longer. Ford's F-150 SVT Raptor went on sale in 2009, and suddenly it seemed everyone wanted to be an off-road enthusiast. The Raptor was a flared-fender sight to behold, more accessible and generally easier to justify to a spouse…

I was disappointed (though not surprised) when I read a post by Josh Oliver on camaroz28.com which, referring to C&G, stated, "That website is garbage." Here is a direct link to the topic; scroll down to Josh's post, which is #22. I realize that there's been "bad blood" between Josh and C&G for a long time, but the reason I'm now pointing out his post is that I can't seem to view his own website, thegmsource.com. Is it still active? Lately, Josh has started several topics on camaroz28.com, so perhaps that has become his new outlet.

Anyone know of any dealers in their area that pair odd makes together? For instance, in Lexington there are several that not only pair together two makes that don't go together, but makes from completely different manufacturers! There's Glenn Nissan/Infiniti/Mitsubishi/Hyundai/GMC/Buick just down the road from me. Glenn also has a Toyota dealer in Nicholasville. And then you've got Courtesy Pontiac/Acura right across the road from Man'o'War Ford (not related). One of the ODDEST is Don Jacob's BMW/Volkswagen/Honda. He use to also sell Olds from that same lot in days gone by. Then there's Quantrell Cadillac/Hummer/Saab/Volvo/Saturn. I…

Do you guys have a good deal of interference with knowing many languages? I mean, I'm taking Spanish, it's my fourth language, and I'm just at wits end here... I'm spelling common words in English wrong and speaking Italian in class. I can NOT get the accent down in Spanish at all. Then I get frustrated and curse at the professor in Italian. Fortunately, he finds it funny. Does it go away? ...that might surprise others. As a kid, I remember feeling that interest in music was a "one genre only" type of thing because so many people I knew were either anti-rock or anti-country ... and didn't really have much of a "crossover" experience. But, in the last few years or so, more and more people tend to have an eclectic taste in music, myself included. I can't stand to leave the radio station on one station all the time; too much music is out there (old and new) that I like and want to be hearing.... This is because my musical interests have grown ten fold (or so it seems) over the last few years, with "exposure" to all types of music, more than just country …

So, if there was one car you could pick up from the side of the road for cheap, what would it be? You can list as many that come to mind, but keep down to the top three. :AH-HA_wink: This is what I'm thinking of... The 1993 Pontiac Sunbird had some odd but interesting changes from the regular bland Cavalier. There was a front faceia that disowned the BMW Kidney-grille setup more commonplace on today's Pontiacs and was more in line with a 1978 Firebird. The interior had an odd layout and very unique instrumentation. Although a bit feminine, with the right mods you can put some chest hair on this J-Body. Take the above car and apply the following: -Convert the J-Body…

Ugh...my Y key on my laptop just broke off, so now everytime I want to press it, I have to fumble around for the little rubber nob that it originally stuck to. Pain in the ass. I'm really tempted to take a tiny dab of superglue and put it back on myself, but since this is a lease laptop, I should probably just do it the correct way and have it taken in to get fixed. You'd be amazed how often you use the letter 'y' and don't even realize it. Oh well, at least another vowel like 'a' or 'e' didn't break off, otherwise I'd be even more frustrated. Ironically, the y key broke off when I typed the word "Camry" in my last post. Damn you, Dell. I've only had this for a …

lease is up early fall. I'm thinking about what i want to replace the 500 with. either a people mover, basic sedan, or a sporty vehicle. It would be nice to have an AWD vehicle. Ford has an advantage for me for a few reasons. Dealer is excellent - one price, 2 miles away and its convenient for service and shuttles, even if the car is super reliable. I like Sync. My last 3 fords have been completely reliable and dependable. that said, i am not closing the door on something else. Price and mpg will likely matter and chances are good I will lease again. A warm thank you to Walt for inviting me here at the start, and to all the moderators, members, contributors, artists, writers, staff members, advanced member members, as well as the trolls (for making me laugh). I have spent half of my time on the internet with Cheers and Gears, having gone online in 1996 (then it was mainly Buletin Boards known as BBS' on a 14.4 modem). It has been a privelage and an honour to see the site grow, change, and advance over the years. I would like to say that one of my very first posts then still holds true today! 5 years of spare time, hows that?

Who could have won between them, I would not care. Melinda has more experience and a larger vocal range than Jordin, although they both have incredible voices. Melinda might have had the better voice, though. Jordin has a younger presence, and still a phenomenal voice for 17 years old. SHe is more current than Melinda, though. My birthday seems to be fairly significant in American history, a few times. Interesting... The culprit... The result... I'm not going to say too much, as I'm quite tired and stressed out, but as the title suggests, my brother wrecked his truck. Pretty badly, as the pictures show. Basically, Sunday morning, he was on his way to work and fell asleep at the wheel after having gotten little sleep the previous night. He whacked a steel sign that barely budged. The result of was him needing to be life-flighted to Pittsburgh. He wasn't wearing a seatbelt, either, and as you see from the one interior pic, the steering wheel and windshield took his impact. Externally, he has a broken femur, which came through the skin; broken wrist, fa…

My brother in law is a state trooper. Last Friday, he was working a DWI shift (overtime). Basically, the Fed gov't has provided block-grants to the states so the states can provide troopers overtime to work extra shifts and crack down on DWI's. Last Friday, my brother-in-law had a drunk run a red light and smash into the front fender/driver's door of his squad at an estimated speed of 50mph. My brother in law had a broken clavicle and was knocked out by the blow. The Crown Vic's don't have side airbags - so he likely hit his head on the side of the door. The radio in his squad was damaged by the blow, so he had to use his sholder radio. He was …

Last night, a friend of mine was driving his VW Golf on Highway 20 going about 70 MPH when he reached down for a Gatorade bottle and ended up drifting onto the gravel shoulder. He tried to correct it but lost control and rolled into the ditch at least five times according to witnesses. He hadn't been drinking or anything. Luckily, he was wearing a seatbelt and the airbags went off. If you look at the roof on the passenger side, it's dented in pretty deep. Another friend of mine almost rode with him but had to change plans at the last minute. If he had ridden with him, he probably wouldn't be here today. Scary stuff. On my way home from Detroit last Thursday after my English Placement Exam, I got to Chelsea on I-94 when my car died. Now, it wouldn't be quite so bad if this was the first time that it had happened, but it was about the fifth time that it's done it to me, and what pissed me off above everything else is that what the dealership thought the problem was turned out not the be the problem at all. I maintain that it's the fuel pump. On a long drive (I got to Detroit fine) it just eventually fizzles out on the Interstate. It gives a hiccup, and then the car just starts…

And finally, a picture of Reg's Aztek: Okay, well that's not really my car (boy though do I wish it were back from the body shop already). Cool photoshop done by a poster over at skyroadsterforums. In the post he even gives a link on how to do the above chopping; check it out here if you're interseted in learning for yourself: http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10982 And while shopping the other day at an outlet mall in central NJ, I found a sunshade at the Disney Store Outlet that has Lightning McQueen's eyes so that your real car can look somewhat like a Pixar-inspired CARS car! And at a clearnace price of $4.99 too!

I took my truck in to my selling dealer on July 9th for its first oil change and a warranty concern. Intermittently I had to fasten and refasten my seatbelt about 4 times to get the light in the dash to go out. Obviously, the problem was in the switch in the buckle. Here's how that went: The dealership is in a small town about 10 miles away. I was on vacation, so I waited and browsed the lot while they did their thing. A couple of customers (old guys retired) were hanging out bs ing with the techs in their bays while they worked. I was in and out, didn't want to crowd the tech working on my truck as I know they don't appreciate being watched by customers who may no…

I've had the idea for awhile of replacing the Corvette badges on my car with a chrome autobot (Transformers) emblem. I looked far and wide and I couldn't find a quality badge that would look good on my car. I found a place that could make what I was looking and just got the first run: Emblems are cut from 1/8" thick stainless steel, black part is 1/16" thick. I had the low part painted black to match my car. Emblems are 4" tall by 3.9" wide. I can't wait to put them on my car.

I couldn't help post this headline. And it's great to know where my holiday bonus is going this year. I'll get a year subscription to the Jelly of the Month club - the gift that keeps on giving all year long. My favorite quote: "What the Wangs did is save the day in 1983," Spaulding said. "Twenty-five years later, Citigroup is playing that role." I know some here that would like the Wang to save the day... but didn't that talk just get a bunch of people upset yesterday. Onc, I need that Meercat picture in here, STAT! And another beer, please. Citigroup Pays $34M to Name Wang Center Thursday November 9, 2:08 pm ET Citigroup Spends $34 Million for Naming…

So...at work... Get a case of 1000 Watt lamps to fix some 40' tall pole lights in a parking lot...lamps are Chinese in origin. These are an extreme PITA to change, as there is a 138,000 volt high voltage set of lines that run right near the pole lights...you have to position the bucket truck just right to maintain OSHA safe clearance. And of course...no more than get them installed and they go bad. So I need to go back before I leave and replace lamps (bulbs) less than two hours old with new ones. Thankfully, I have American made lamps in the truck and they work perfectly. Then I go to the vendor to buy more American made lamps...and find that MFR. has now outsource…

I think I may have financially overextended myself a bit. It's sad really, when I think about it. I bought one of the cheapest condos I could find in Toronto. Half the loan is from my grandfather, at a better-than-bank rate. Half the loan is at 6% from the bank, which is fairly decent. My car is pretty basic too, I'm sure you'll all agree. Selling it and getting an older one wouldn't really solve my problems, since insurance is the main issue. Last month I had to pay my grandfather his interest for the year, and now I'm finding myself really in a bind. I'm going to have to roll up all my change and take it to the bank so that the money is there when GMAC goes to ta…

My dad decided to buy another motorcycle. A classic 1975 Honda XL175 with an extremely low 340 miles. It runs pretty well for having sit in someone's basement for decades. It's rusty in spots, but overall it's in decent condition. All original and as I mentioned, has only 340 miles. Has a small fuel leak and the clutch sticks sometimes, but that's basically all that's wrong with it. He heard about it from a coworker who didn't want it anymore.. He couldn't resist it. This, after he told me he couldn't afford to help out with the distributor I need. I have no idea what he paid for it, exactly, but I'm quite positive that it was more than $400.

My dad has a line on a black 98 Deville Concours with 47k miles on it. Estate type sale. Seller is listing at 8500 but the person in charge of the sale will go lower. My dad wants to try to get it for 5500. I told him he'll prob need to go up as high as 6500. What do you all think is fair for a 10 year old Concours w/ northstar, floor shift, moonroof? Myself I do not like the interior color or i might have interest. If my dad buys it I might make him a serious offer on his 92 Seville with 80k on it. What is the history on that vintage of Northstar and tranny?

Unbeknown to me until about half an hour ago, my dad apparently now owns a 1999 Buick LeSabre with 90,000 miles, red exterior and gray leather interior, pretty loaded. It was my mom telling me this so I have no idea what trim it is...she's supposed to be sending pictures soon. My dad had been driving a '92 Olds Eighty-Eight for about 10 years and apparently it has finally kicked the bucket at 180,000 miles. He's been having more problems with it over the last year, so it was probably time to go, sadly. It's too bad because we just repainted it a few years ago and the condition of the car's exterior is still in really good shape with no rust or dings. I wish he would'…

So I showed my dad the UTE and Commodore wagon today, and he didn't really care much for either of them (he really likes the G8). He thought the UTE was pretty stupid as a Pontiac, and he didn't really like the wagon, or see much point in it (says most people would just buy a crossover). This is coming from someone who isn't a car enthusiast, but certainly more interested in them than the average Joe. Just thought I'd share, since I thought it was interesting that he is considering a G8 but doesn't like either of the other two variants.

Well guys. I got bored this weekend and created a couple of pieces of artwork; all digital of course. I have a contemporary style and prefer clean lines. But first I had to create my signature to apply to all my pieces. The only real difference in the artwork is the colors. My 18th birthday is definitely coming up and I have no idea what to do. I want to do something for sure. I've never really had an actual bday party, being that my cousin's is the same day and my family always grouped ours together. I was basically going to her parties and pretending that it was also mine. So yeah, for once I'd like to do something of my own and I'd like to do something meaningful being that I'm turning 18. I just don't know what. I'd rather not do something that includes my family as that's what it's always been. The only problem are my limitations. I'm not sure about doing something outside of Brookville or the surrounding towns. I'm not sure about what …

My dad is considering getting a third a car for all of us to run. With the Sunfire still having problems, my Millenia being impossible to diagnose, and my brother needing a car to pratice driving with... It would really be nice. He found a goldish 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GL coupe with 73k that he may get. Signed papers for it, but can back out if needed. Not sure of the price as he didn't really specify. Should atleast be better than the Sunfire, but then, what wouldn't be?

I signed up for an environmental class that dealt with environmental planning and stuff along those lines. I originally took it because it actually sounded kind of interesting and I was genuinely interested in the subject, but I dropped it like a yesterday's news, mostly because I realized I was taking too many credits (18) along with having an independent project and going to work about 15 hours a week. Just too much stuff to juggle. There were some real strong opinions in that class...polar opposite too. On one hand, you had the conservative ag/forestry/civil engineering kids and on the other you had the liberal political science/environmental studies/design kids. …

Okay... for the few of those to even notice my lack of existance here over the weekend... I went camping at Deer Meadows in Cooks Forest. Got to try out my new tent and sleeping bag. It was the first time in a few years since camping there. Nothing has really changed except where and how I camped. And how much it cost. My aunt and uncle have a permanent camp site up there, so it was nice. The price, too. Only $3 a night to visit. I only paid for two nights, though. I'm a sneaky lil' bastard. Haha... DF brought up this point and I figured I would look back and see how many accidents there really has been. I'm going back until 2000, or so. There weren't many before then, not since my parents, aunts, and uncles were younger. It's mostly my generation that's had issues. -My cousin Josh's first wreck, spinning into a tree with his Firebird back in 2000, a few months after getting his license. -My cousin Josh's second wreck involved rear ending someone with his jacked up and modded Ford Ranger. -My Mom's first wreck, when she slid into an embankment and a bridge with her Grand Am in 2002. -My cousin Andy wrecked my Grandma's Sunfire in 2003 or 2004, the fir…

Is it any wonder we as Americans are lard asses? Not more than half an hour ago, I was able to order a Papa John's pizza online... medium pepperoni & black olive, baked well done, without getting off my ass. The little nerdy white kid brought it to my door and now I am stuffing my face with a delicious, hot, fattening concoction. And it's only going to get worse. Hey Papa John: good luck finding your old Z/28. I did my small part.

Hey guys, so it is getting to be that time where I should start getting ideas of which car to purchase as my first one. I am turning sixteen in a few months (when I get my permit; a little early to look, yes, but it doesn't hurt), and I need to get a job, haha. I have about 1800 in the bank (not too terrible for someone my age) and I need to be able to afford insurance plus the car. Does anyone have a good idea of a cheap, reliable car that is also sporty and fuel-efficient (at least twenty-two mpg)? Thanks in advance, your guys' opinions really help!
