Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

The Cadillac XT4 is an important model for the brand as it will give them a competitor in the lucrative compact luxury crossover class. It might also give one of GM's assembly plants some much needed good news. Bloomberg has learned from sources that General Motors has started producing test versions of the Cadillac XT4 at their Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas City. This possibly hints that production of the XT4 could take place here. A GM spokesman declined to comment when asked about this. The Fairfax plant has been hit hard by the decline in sales for midsize sedans. Home to the Chevrolet Malibu, the plant has seen the third shift cut last year as Malibu sal…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 18, 2013 Motor Trend has gotten their hands on some new information on what's coming down the pipeline at Cadillac. Some of it is good news, while other has us worried. We'll start with the bad stuff first. Apparently GM's bean counters are making a comeback. A source says that the new Omega-based flagship has seen its door handles switched from ones that cost $5.00 to ones that cost $1.80. On the surface this seems a bit ridiculous, but considering this new model will compete with the likes of the BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, and others, every little thing counts. There is also talk about t…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 24, 2012 If you have been reading any of the comparison tests of the new Cadillac ATS and the competition, you would have notice a reoccurring complaint; the six-speed manual transmission stinks. Apparently Cadillac is taking those criticisms to heart. A source tells Motor Trend that Cadillac has stopped production of ATSs equipped with the six-speed manual to fix complaints of the six-speed being awful. The fix involves moving to a softer bushing setup in the transmission. The fix will will be made before any cars equipped with the manual make it into the hands of consumers, meaning no recall. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 2, 2012 General Motors has been quiet on the new Cadillac ELR since announcing it would go into production for the 2014 model year. However, Car & Driver has uncovered some information that shines some light of what we could expect of Cadillac’s new extended-range EV. It’s been bandied about that ELR would share the same Voltec powertrain used in the Chevrolet Volt, but rumor has it that the ELR will swap the current 1.4L engine and use a naturally aspirated variant of Opel’s newly-developed Ecotec MGE engine. The Ecotec MGE engine is the base for a future family of low-emissions, direct-injection four-cylinder …

General Motors announced this week that it would be investing $245 million and adding 300 new jobs at its Orion Assembly plant - home of the Chevrolet Sonic, Buick Verano, and soon to be Chevrolet Bolt. Now this investment is for an "all-new vehicle program unlike any in the plant's 32-year history." So what could this vehicle be? Motor Trend reports that a source says the program is "a future crossover with no predecessor" and that "the gaps in [Cadillac's] product lineup are obvious." So in other words, the possible program is a small Cadillac crossover. Now we have been hearing and reporting that Cadillac is planning to have a range of crossovers in the next f…

We know Cadillac is planning a major product offensive beginning with the XT3 crossover next year, along with a few other products such as a seven-seat crossover and a competitor to the Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA. Automobile Magazine reports that Cadillac is planning eight all-new or redesigned models by 2022. They include, XT3: (Compact crossover) in 2018 CT3: (ATS Replacement) in 2018 XT7: (Seven-seat crossover that is reported to be on Omega. Other reports put say it will use the platform underpinning the redesign Buick Enclave/Chevrolet Traverse) in 2019 CT5: (Replacement for the CTS) in 2019 XT1 or XT2 (Subcompact crossover) in 2020 …

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 3, 2012 Motor Trend is reporting that a coupe version of the new Cadillac ATS has been put on hold. The reason lies in GM’s stock price dropping like a rock; 30% drop since from its November 2010 initial public offering price. GM hopes by delaying or cancelling projects to save money, that will raise their stock price up. This is where we begin to enter the twilight zone of ATS rumors. For the past year, we’ve been hearing different models of the ATS moving around from going into development, put on the shelf, or being cancelled. Last year, rumors had said the ATS would come in Sedan, Wagon, Coupe, and Conver…

The rumors of Cadillac working on a three-row crossover have been running around for the past couple of years, with the most recent coming from Global Cadillac President Robert Ferguson who said the crossover could wear the Escalade nameplate, but a decision hadn't been reached. Wards Auto reports that a decision has been reached; the three-row crossover has been shelved. Sources tell Wards that the proposed Cadillac crossover would compete too closely with the Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia. The decision comes late in the development of the next-generation large crossovers which are due out as early as 2016 and will utilize a new Theta/Lambda platform. Cadillac is likely …

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 23, 2013 CarScoops has learned from a contact of theirs some information about what to expect with the new 2014 Cadillac Escalade. The contact says the new Escalade will stick with its boxy looks on the exterior and use headlights similar to the ones used on the ELR. The back end has taillights that "run from the roof down, being thinnest closest to the roof" and similar in looks to the CTS wagon. Inside, the contact says the new Escalade will feature much higher quality materials, making it more luxurious. "The interior design is real everything. Real wood, metal, leather," the contact said. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 8, 2013 Car and Driver recently checked in with their sources on what the future holds for certain Cadillac models. We'll start with the current generation CTS Coupe and Wagon. These two models will likely stick around for one more year and be built alongside the new CTS. After this, both models will be shown the door. Don't expect a next-gen CTS Wagon to appear though. Sales of the CTS Wagon were only 7% of sales last year (about 3500 wagons) and the brand just doesn't see a reason to do another one. (Quick sidebar: out of those 3500 CTS Wagons, 1 out of every 3 were the V model.) As for the CTS Coupe, that'…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 16, 2012 Photo by Chris Doane Automotive, LLC - May not be used elsewhere without permission of photographer. The last time we saw spy photos of the 2013 Cadillac SRX, it was covered in camouflage and there was talk of a plug-in hybrid version. Fast forward to today and new spy shots show the 2013 SRX with no camouflage and no plug-in hybrid. Our spy shots show the SRX getting a modest update, with the front end getting a new grill and fascia. The SRX will also sport a new interior, with a capacitive-touch center stack, much like the one on the new XTS. And if you're wonder what happened to the plug-in hybr…

Cadillac is going to have a quiet 2017, but 2018 looks to be a blockbuster year as the first of their needed crossovers will launch - the compact XT3. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have gotten our first look at it. General Motors' camouflage department did a really good job of covering up the XT3, so we can't really tell much about the design except that it looks like an even smaller XT5. One detail they weren't able to cover up is the intercooler, leading us to believe that the XT3 will come with turbocharged power - most likely the 2.0L turbo. A nine-speed automatic and the choice of front or all-wheel drive is likely. Platform-wise, expect the XT3 to use the un…

Cadillac's infotainment system has been the bane of automotive writers and owners. CUE has been described as being difficult annoying to use, part of this due to the touch-sensitive 'buttons' which doesn't always recognized when pressed. But it seems Cadillac is going back to basics in terms of their infotainment system. Spy photos of the upcoming XT4's interior have made their way onto various sites today. Underneath the infotainment screen, there are rows of physical buttons for the climate control and various safety functions. We can also make out a controller behind the transmission, which may provide another method of controlling the infotainment system. Other d…

The previous sets of Cadillac XT4 spy shots haven't revealed much aside from the basic shape. But finally, a spy photographer was able to catch a group of them with a fair amount of camouflage removed. We can see the front end has a lot of influence from the Escala concept with a similar grille shape. The front headlights appear to stretch into the front fenders, but don't drop as far down on the fascia. Moving to the side, shares a similar profile to the XT5. The only difference between the two is a lack of window behind the rear doors. Cadillac has the Germans in its sight with the XT5. According to the spy photographer, a BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC were bei…

It has finally happened, the first spy shots of the upcoming 2020 Cadillac CT5 have been released. The first item that jumps out is the hood scoop. No, we don't think this will make it into production as it is likely part of the camouflage to disguise the vehicle. Moving past that, the CT5 takes a fair amount of inspiration from the Escala concept. This is evident along the side where there is a fastback design for the roof and extra rear quarter window. We're expecting an engine lineup similar to the CTS - a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder, 3.6L V6, and twin-turbo 3.0L V6. The CT5 will replace the ATS, CTS, and XTS when it goes into production in 2019. …

Late last week, the first spy shots of the next-generation Cadillac Escalade made their way onto the web. Much like the spy shots of the Chevrolet Suburban that came out back in May, we can't tell much about the exterior due to the heavy camouflage. There are certain details that can be made out such as Escala-like grille and the headlights moving horizontally. Like the new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, the Escalade and sister SUV models will utilize the T1XX platform. One of the key changes this platform brings is an independent rear suspension, something we first saw in the Suburban spy shots. The 6.2L V8 with 420 horsepower is expected to continue into the n…

There has been a lot of talk about Cadillac working on a three-row crossover, but no substance to this. That changed this week as spy photos of the three-row crossover, possibly named the XT6 came out. The test mule is heavily camouflaged, but we can pull some details out. The front end looks somewhat similar to the recently launched XT4 with a large grille. Headlights appear to be off-the-shelf projector units - we're expecting different units on the production model. Around back, the tailgate design is similar to the XT5. As Car and Driver pointed out, the XT6's roofline shape is alike to the Chevrolet Traverse. Underpinning the XT6 is expected to be the long-…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 12, 2012 We been posting spy shots of the upcoming Cadillac ELR for the past couple of months. All of them being the exterior. We've been wondering what the interior will look like. Well the spy gods have heard our cries and photos of the ELR's interior have come out. Not a surprise in the Interior shots is the appearance of Cadillac's CUE Infortainment system and the steering wheel from the XTS and ATS. What is a surprise is the instrument cluster. Much like the Volt, this ELR mule uses a screen to display pertinent information. The layout mimics the Lexus LF-A supercar with a analog gauge sitting in the middle …

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 24, 2013 It has been speculated and talked about for months on end, and it now seems to be real. New spy photos released yesterday show that there is an ATS coupe in development. The photos reveal a mule looking like the current CTS coupe running around. The indication that has everyone believing that its an ATS coupe; the proportions. The mule appears to be using a short wheelbase, not a long one like you would see on the CTS coupe. We'll be keeping a close eye on this story and report if we have any new updates. Source: Autoweek William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. He can be reached at w…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com June 4, 2013 The Cadillac ATS was conceived to beat the Germans at the compact luxury sedan game. Now it appears that Cadillac is upping its game by taking on high performance models with the ATS-V. A spy photographer caught what appears to be an ATS-V mule playing around with the benchmark of the class, the BMW M3. Judging from the shots, we can make out a more aggressive front fascia, flared fenders, quad exhausts, and larger brakes. As for power, that's anyone guess at the moment. It could be the new TwinTurbo 3.6L V6 that will be appearing in the 2014 CTS and XTS, or a V8 engine. Source: Automotbile Magazine Wil…

Feast your eyes on this. Left Lane News got their hands on new spy shots which show off the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V Coupe with no camouflage at all. The ATS-V looks to our eyes as being a CTS-V that has been left in the wash for a bit too long. The front has an aggressive front splitter that appears to be made out of carbon fiber, along with mesh grilles for the front clip. There is a hood bulge with an air vent to help cooling. Around back is a spoiler sitting on the trunk lid. The pictures also reveal the ATS-V having massive disc brakes, possibly carbon ceramic. One item still up in the air is what powers the ATS-V. All signs appear to be pointing to TT 3.6 with 425…

Cadillac has said that elements of the Escala concept that was shown last year would be showing up on future models. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have our first look at what elements will be popping up. A camouflaged CT6 mule was caught driving out on some European roads and we can make out some key details. For one, the grille and badge seem to match up with the Escala concept. We can't say for certain as the grille outline is covered up. It appears the headlights are more horizontal and smaller than the ones found on the current CT6. Expect to see the updated CT6 next year as a 2019 model. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 15, 2012 Cadillac is in the process of revamping the sedan lineup. So far, the brand has shown the new XTS and ATS. The only one that hasn't been touched is the CTS, until now. Today, the first spy shots of the new CTS were caught in the Northern Territories of Canada. Wearing the codename of A1LL, the next-generation CTS will ride on an extended version of the ATS’ Alpha platform to compete with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, and Audi A6. Cadillac's Art & Science design language will continue on the next CTS with a sharp C-pillar, angular exhaust cutouts, and a front end likely having some resembla…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 12, 2012 The next Cadillac CTS is just around the corner and Inside Line has gotten their hands on new spy shots that reveal some key parts that will appear when the it arrives in the 2014 model year. Starting with the exterior, the front end appears to have some Ciel infulence with its flat and wide grille. Other items that we can pick out include aggressive wheels/tires and large brakes. Inside, the CTS will get Cadillac's CUE infotainment system, a stitched dash, and paddle shifters. The big news lies under the hood. This CTS mule appears to be packing a twin-turbo V6 and the way we can tell that is due to …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 10, 2012 Cadillac has sent mules of the next-generation Cadillac CTS off to Europe for testing and some new spy photos show them in action. Apparently in Europe, its ok to have less camouflage on your test car and that gives us some big hints as to what designers have in mind for the CTS. The large front grille bears a striking resemblance to the Ciel concept. The front headlights, currently prototype assemblies at this time, appear to have a set of LED running lights. The side profile of this mule reveals the rear window is more raked than the current model, almost mimicking the CTS coupe. Most likely, this is to…

Fast forward two months and two CTS mules are roaming the streets in a new set of spy shots. As we reported back in February, the new CTS will use an extended version of the "Alpha" platform to help it better compete with the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and Audi A6. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 6, 2012 Some new spy shots have come in today showing a camouflaged Cadillac ELR doing some hot-weather testing somewhere in the Southwest U.S. Despite GM's best efforts to cover-up the ELR mule, you can easily tell the three-bar grille and corporate crest visible on all Cadillacs. The overall shape is similar to the Converj concept shown back in 2009. The ELR is expected to come with the Voltec powertrain from Volt. Expect the ELR to have more power since it will weigh more than the Volt. A larger battery is also being talked. Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gear…

Its been a few months since we heard anything about the upcoming Cadillac XT5, the replacement for the SRX crossover. But the folks at Automobile Magazine got their hands on some new spy shots of the XT5 undergoing cold weather testing. As we have previously reported, the XT5 will utilize the upcoming C1XX - Chi platform. Judging from the new spy shots, it looks like the XT5 will keep the slanted grille, but it looks like it will get stacked LED lights. It also appears XT5's profile will become somewhat shorter, but grow in terms of interior space. Powertrains are expected to be the 2.0L turbo-four and 3.6L V6, while front and all-wheel drive will handle getting that po…

The rumors of the flagship emanating from Cadillac have been written and talked about for the past few years. But as of this week, the flagship appears to be given the green light as evidenced by spy shots. While General Motors has made sure to layer on the cladding to disguise many details of the new flagship, there are a few items we can pick out. For one, the design ideals from the new CTS are very apparent in the flagship's design with sharp-edges and a blocky design. We can also make out the large grille up front. The new flagship is rumored to be riding on GM's new Omega rear-drive platform. Powertrains are up in the air, but we wouldn't be surprised if the twin-t…

The past few months have seen numerous spy shots of the Cadillac ATS-V come out. While its good to see that GM is working on it, there hasn't anything groundbreaking in that time. What is groundbreaking is getting the first spy shots of the bigger brother, the upcoming CTS-V. Undergoing some cold-weather testing, the CTS-V is wrapped up in some light camouflage, but there are some giveaways letting you know its true intent. The most noticeable item is the grille treatment with vertical bars. Autoblog says that the V-series will likely have different design traits from the standard models. There's also a meaty set of exhaust pipes sticking out. As for power, sources say …

A fresh set of spy shots have come, revealing Cadillac's upcoming CT4 sedan. This will be replacement for the slow-selling ATS. But you might be thinking this is the larger CT5, the replacement for the CTS. Both vehicles are dressed up in similar-looking camouflage and have the same overall shape. We'll admit that we were confused when we first laid eyes on the photos, but Autoblog has come to rescue to by having spy shots of both the CT4 and CT5 to help point out differences. The key difference between the two models is in the back. If the cutout for license plate is at the bumper and a slightly rounded trunk lid, that's the CT4. If the cutout is higher and the…

A couple days back, we brought you spy shots of the Cadillac ATS-V without any camouflage. Now we have gotten word of a new set of spy shots for another Cadillac model in the pipeline. Autoblog got their hands on pictures of the next SRX, possibly wearing the XT5 nameplate. We can tell this mule is early in the development process due to all of camouflage on it. There are a few clues we can pull from the pictures such as the model apparently having grille similar to the ATS Coupe, and a sloping rear hatch that is being hidden by a box. The XT5 is expected to use a new scalable platform called C1XX (Chi for short). This new platform is expected to underpin a number of cr…

We knew that the Cadillac ELR would be driving off into the sunset, but we didn't know when. "I plan to continue admiring it as one of the most beautiful cars on four wheels. But we don't plan further investment" in the coupe, said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen back in February. This lead many to believe that Cadillac was going to keep the ELR until the end of the 2016 model year. That would not be the case as General Motors quietly stopped production in the same month. “Cadillac ELR production recently concluded. A very small quantity of ELR units remain available at dealers today,” said Cadillac Product Communications Manager David Caldwell in a stat…

For almost two decades, Cadillac has been undergoing a transformation of sorts to become a threat to likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The various models and changes have been met with mixed reactions. But the latest move to make Cadillac the lead brand in General Motors' electric car offensive marks a big change. It’s my job to make sure we do.” Cadillac previewed their first EV on Sunday night during the pre…

Cadillac's Blackwing V8 was the brand's first in-house V8 engine since the Northstar back in the 90's. The engine boasted twin turbos, dual overhead camshafts, and output of 550 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque for the CT6-V. But with the CT6 set to end U.S. production this month, the future of Blackwing is up in the air. "[We have] no specific plans for that engine, but never is a long time," said Cadillac president Steve Carlisle to Road & Track at the launch of the 2021 Escalade last week. A recent report from Automotive News says Cadillac is thinking about adding more engines choices to the the Escalade. No mention when a decision would be made on the additional engines. Source: Automotive News (Subscription Required) William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. He can be re…

Car and Driver have gotten some intriguing information about what Cadillac is looking at for the future with their V-Series and powertrains. We'll start with V-Series. Now as we reported before, Cadillac is planning on adding more V-Series models. Some of those could be higher-performance versions of current models - something akin to Black Series for Mercedes-Benz AMG models. When asked about this, Cadillac's chief engineer David Leone said, “We might have something down the road that is a little bit more aggressive.” A source says a we could see something with this idea in 2017. No hint was given as to what model could be in the cards. Our guess is that it would be th…

Cadillac has some ambitious product plans. Starting with the debut of the XT4 at the New York Auto Show, Cadillac will be launching a new vehicle every six months by 2022. This includes a large crossover, a replacement for the ATS/CTS, and a new Escalade. Once the brand finishes this offensive, the brand "can, candidly, generate some growth, generate some revenue, put volume through our dealer organization so they can also invest in the elevation of the brand, all those logical things," said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen. One of those possible elevation plans is a "halo vehicle." According to Automotive News, the model might not necessarily be a car. Also in t…

Cadillac has been one of the few brands at General Motors to mostly avoid the Ignition Switch recall drama, but that doesn't mean they have their own set of problems. The brand has seen sales slip 2.2 percent within the first five months of this year, a bit surprising considering the luxury market is booming. “The brand has not grown as well this year as it did last year. They do have a greatly improved product line, but they need to have that produce results. They need to connect more with the consumer,” said IHS Automotive analyst Tom Libby. Not helping matters is the question of who leading Cadillac at the moment. Bob Ferguson, Cadillac's global chief and former lobb…

The last time Cadillac offered a diesel engine was back in the early eighties and was a horrid engine, tarnishing Cadillac's reputation and vehicles. But now, Cadillac is once again thinking about a diesel engine. Don Butler, Cadillac’s marketing vice president said in a interview at the LA Auto Show that Cadillac was considering a diesel engine for vehicles sold outside the United States. He added a diesel engine “could be a potential hedge in the U.S. because of diesel’s great torque, great performance with great efficiency.” “We absolutely mean it when we say we aim to compete with the best of the best without compromises. And if that means making the right powertrai…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 25, 2012 When Cadillac showed the XTS Platinum Concept at the 2010 North American International Auto Show, it was equipped with a 3.6L DI V6 and a plug-in hybrid system that produced a potent 350 HP. However, the production XTS probably won't have a hybrid version. AutoGuide had the chance to sit down with Cadillac Communications Manager David Caldwell. Caldwell said a hybrid version of the XTS, either to provide more fuel-economy or power is highly unlikely. If Cadillac was to provide more power for the XTS, they would go in a different direction. Cadillac sits atop survey for luxury brand satisfaction Thursday, July 05, 2007 | Don Hammonds | Link to Original Article @ Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Cadillac, once known as "The Standard of the World," may want to dust off that old title. When it comes to customer service, a Business Week survey put the company third in a group of 25 "luxury or specialty" brands or companies, including those not in an automotive-related business. When it comes to cars, Cadillac outranked stalwarts such as Lexus and Porsche. Business Week supplemented 2006 data from J.D.Power & Associates with a survey of about 3,000 Business Week readers who were asked to nominate three companies …

Cadillac released teaser images today of the upcoming 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ-V. Fast on the heals of the Cadillac LYRIQ-V released earlier this year, Cadillac promises an even faster and more nimble version of its small crossover EV entry. Already sporting 300 horsepower, the Cadillac OPTIQ-V is poised to become the quickest compact crossover EV on the market. Cadillac engineers have reconfigured the suspension and tightened the steering for a more dynamic feel. For now we can only speculate about power output, but Cadillac will have more information about the 2026 Cadillac OPTIQ-V later this year. View full article

Well I have always wondered when the currrent president was put into office in 2005 he road in an unknown Cadillac to me. That I realized was the up-coming DTS, later after studying the front end and looking at spy photos. I confirmed that later at the Chicago Autoshow in 2005. Having said that it doesn't ride on regular tires, obviously it is armored heavily but from the photos on GM's media site it doesn't even appear to be on something remotely similar to the G-body platform, which they had offered armored in the previous Deville from 2004-2005. One rear photo confirms it has leaf springs! My question being what is this thing riding on? Does it have a Northstar in it? …

Slow Caddys in Europe Brand cuts sales goals following weak sales By WIM OUDE WEERNINK | Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Published 07/23/07, 5:05 pm et General Motors will sell fewer Cadillacs than expected in Europe by 2010. "We have reduced our sales targets for Cadillac in Europe to 10,000 units short term and eventually 15,000," GM Europe President Carl-Peter Forster told Automotive News Europe. In 2003, GM gave the Dutch dealer group Kroymans the exclusive Cadillac distribution rights for Europe. At that time, GM's sales target for the brand was 20,000 units by 2010. But sales have been weak - despite the addition of the BLS sedan, which was derived fr…

Today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Cadillac unveiled the refreshed Cadillac CT5 sedan. CT5 retail sales have been on an upswing of late, increasing over 35%. In a time when sedan sales are stagnating or disappearing entirely, Cadillac's positive numbers have given hope that the luxury sedan market isn't quite dead yet. The refresh of the CT5 begins with the exterior. A new larger, bolder grille is flanked by new vertically stacked headlamps and Cadillac's signature fangs. The LED light clusters feature an animated startup sequence that "celebrates" you as you approach the car. Two new exterior colors are available; Deep Space Metallic…

The formula for beating the BMW 3-series may be real simple. Here goes:- (1) RWD- Alpha platform (~108" wheelbase, ~3300 lbs, 5 seats, 4-doors, styled like the Torana; sized between the 3-series and the IS) (2) Finish the Interior to the same standard as the CTS - not quite Audi, but good enough to combat BMW interiors (3) Keep it 4-cylinders only -- a 300hp / 270 lb-ft version of the 2.0 liter LNF engine. (4) Give it the excellent 6L50 tranny. (5) Keep it around $32,000 to start. That's it. You have just stuffed the 328 and matched the 335 in performance and beat them both in terms of not just price but also fuel economy with an EPA rating estimated to be aro…

As part of a midcycle freshening for model-year 2007, Cadillac will offer a new SRX Sport kit in August that is primarily an appearance package, with unique wheels and tires, grille, rocker panels, and front and re…

Forbes Car review Cadillac SRX Vs. Volkswagen Touareg 10-04-2005 By Dan Lienert The Cadillac SRX sport utility vehicle exemplifies many issues facing Detroit. It is a typical Detroit car in that it is an SUV with declining sales, but it is also a rare American auto: a luxury car that can outsell European competition--excellent competition, at that--by some margin. In the first eight months of 2005, Volkswagen's Touareg SUV matched only 71% of the SRX's American sales. Considering that the SRX might be the best Cadillac, and that the Touareg might be the best Volkswagen, the Caddy's superior sales performance is evidence against the myth that Detroit ca…

American dealers should pay close attention to Cadillac's efforts to pump up sales in Europe, China and elsewhere, Taylor said, because overseas sales can be decisive in getting products approved for the United States. For instance, he said in an interview here, the CTS and STS required significant investment for relatively low volumes. The expectation that incre…

I was in Las Vegas from Friday PM through Sunday evening. I had a chance to look at a lot of Cadillacs on the road (love the name of that dealer in Vegas -- Cashman Cadillac), mostly CTSs and some STSs. In general, I think the slab sides are great ,as are the angular lenses and grilles up front. I think, though, that the rear decks and the taillights that have to make the stretch from the bumper up to reach the deck lid are too tall. The whole composition at the rear of the car is too chunky. To go along with this tallness, I think that, from a test sit, the center stack is also too tall and the general feeling behind the wheel of a CTS and STS is a bit claustropho…

Cadillac Taking Some Lessons From BMW For The ATS William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 16, 2011 Cadillac wants the ATS to succeed badly not only in North America, but worldwide. So they're are studying the big dog in the compact luxury class; the BMW 3-Series. According to Autoblog, GM has brought in various 3-Series models and stripped them down to their bare metal. STS and SRX are calling, they want thier eyes back AND Caddy: How bout a little more CTS and XLR [and Sixteen] and a LOT less STS! My Design Analysis The '07 Escalade without a doubt is beautiful. It is incredibly classy, elegant, and with an air of snobbery. But there's nothing shocking about it this time around. There's nothing that will make you stare at it for a while. Why are the headlights so round? Why are they shaped like an old Deville? Why don't they continue the lines that run through the fender? I think that might be my biggest problem with this design, and also the lack of much definition in the sides or rear. I saw like a million current Escal…

Linkity CADILLAC CONVERJ Cadillac just took the wraps off a new concept based on the Chevy Volt's "Voltec" drivetrain (that's a new moniker, by the way). The angular coupe is called the Converj and it is drop-dead gorgeous. With styling that is instantly recognizable as Cadillac, Bob Lutz told us at the press conference that the car was designed to be aesthetically pleasing on its own. It's just a great shape that holds great promise. Lutz and Co. referred to the Converj as the "CADILLAC OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES" and even if that sounds trite, it could well bring Cadillac back to the top of the luxury car heap, with a solid foundation of SRX and CTS …

http://www.motortrend.com/news/comparison-audi-s6-4-0t-quattro-vs-cadillac-cts-v-sport-vs-lexus-gs-f/ To sum up, the Cadillac won very well, and it stood the test of time. Mainly, it was about delivering a solid blend of luxury and performance. And the Cadillac did it all, at a great price. I think that's what is great about the win. The Merecedes E Class was excluded because it's due to be replaced and the 5 Series didn't represent Europe as well as the A6. I think it shows maturity with design, that it can hold up after a few years pass by and the competitors try to catch up. A great win for the home team!

Cadillac Working On A Convertible? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 1, 2011 Cadillac's recent track record with convertibles has been abysmal. The Allanté from the late 80's and the recent XLR had high aspirations, but fell flat in sales. Car & Driver is now reporting that Cadillac is working a convertible that will fit between the ATS and CTS. The convertible will use a fabric roof to help with the vehicle's weight. Engine choices for the convertible could range from turbo-4, V6, or V8s. The convertible is expected to come out in late 2013 as a 2014 model. Source: Car & Driver

Cadillac XTS concept hint to be at NAIAS Cadillac ZTS rendering by our own Andrew Currie December 7th, 2009 by Drew Dowdell Sometimes you find hints to the future right in front of your face. On the TellGM website (formerly Tell Fritz), Bryan Nesbitt, General Manager of Cadillac answers a question regarding the upcoming Cadillac XTS sedan. While Mr. Nesbitt won't confirm nor deny the platform the XTS will be riding on, he does say that the concept car will be shown at the upcoming North American International Auto Show and that it should reveal a very strong hint as to the design direction of the production vehicle. Cadillac updated their site with 2007 Escalade ESV & EXT info. I must say the ESV carries the design even better than the regular Escalade. http://www.cadillac.com/cadillacjsp/model/...l=esv&year=2007 http://www.cadillac.com/cadillacjsp/model/...l=ext&year=2007

" It's a golden autumn morning in rural upstate New York. Backpacked kids wait by mailboxes for the school bus. I'm driving through pockets of valley mist to New York state's most famous racing circuit, to witness the shakedown testing of a race car so top-secret, it's still wrapped in camouflage. The last time the American automaker competed in top-level prototype racing was 2002, when the ill-fated Northstar LMP finished 9th at Le Mans. Audi's dominant R8 prototype notched its third consecutive victory at the Circuit de la Sarthe that year. Wayne Taylor and Max Angelelli were co-driv…
