Our last dog Rosie, a red lab, sadly passed away last september. We have been looking around for another puppy. My mom has been wanting a yellow lab for a long time. We recently found a good breeder who just had a litter of English labs. They are located up north from us, so my uncle who lives up in Morro Bay/SLO took a look at them for us today. We've seen a couple pics of the puppies, but my uncle took some more. My uncle was actually the one who found us our last dog as well, and he picked up Rosie's sister (who was a black lab who also passed away). My uncle picked up a yellow lab puppy last year which sadly died in a tragic accident, and since then he adopted an old…

I just wanted to let you know that @Anthony Fongaro has joined the team and will be starting to contribute news to the site starting this week. The Curse hits lots of people every year it seems but I think that this year I am entitled to the bragging rights associated with most cursed. I'd be interested to see if anybody can beat this, it's just been one of those years. In addition to the two incidents with my 07 Impala this year, there were actually many other curse related incidents I didn't share, and now at the end of the year, totaling the insurance damage, it's something spectacular. This year's total: APRIL 9, 2010- I was rear ended at a stoplight by a Camry in my 07 Impala causing $1200 in damage requiring a new rear bumper and bumper shroud. JULY 12, 2010- Biggest hail storm in terms of insurance da…

My mind has been a little mixed up recently. I've had some very disturbing nightmares. The movie Silent Hill, as much EVERYONE I know hates it, fascinates me because much of the imagery in it is the stuff of my nightmares. That over sized, creepy Pyramid guy & his violent actions are pretty much something my mind would conjure up. Something is up with me, I know what it is I guess, just don't know how to deal with it. Julie and I are doing great, despite the miscarriage. Things are looking up and I've been a happy camper as of late, even on Thanksgiving I was thinking how I should count my blessings. But there's this "thing" looming over m…

Linkypoo Some I disagree with, many I'm sure a lot of you will disagree with. Many of the cars on the list, the author, "Dickhead" Dan Neil, bitches about fuel economy, especially on the more modern cars. I do agree with him on the neutered Corvette and a few of the others, but I really disagree on the Corvair, Explorer (it probably kept Ford afloat after the 1996 Taurus debacle) and the EV1, as well as a few others. The EV1 wasn't a terrible car, it was terribly handled by GM.

It's nice here in Dreamland. It's the perfect place. Cars, guys, money... Perfection. I like it here. Anyways, I've been thinking... In the next year, there's a few things I'd like to get done. First up, is a job as some of you know. I've been looking and I applied at a VW dealership for a detailing job. I knew I wasn't going to get it fromt he moment I talked with the guy who was in charge of hiring someone (was an in person application type deal). He was snobby with a "holier than thou" attitude. No surprise here, I didn't get the job. Currently, I'm looking into the new Hyundai dealership where my Grandma got her Elantra from. Had a great experience with one of th…

Today, six were laid off from our firm of about 65 people. Nobody saw it coming and we were all in shock for most of the day. Our work load has been pretty full lately but six months down the road we will start slowing down very quickly since no new projects are coming in...schools, universities, and businesses are putting everything on hold. If things continue to worsen, we may have a second round of lay offs and that's what makes me nervous, because I'm young and still don't have much experience yet. The partners talked to us today in a conference and said that the lay offs are a precaution to ensure we will be profitable in 2009, even though our work load is pretty…

Yokohama working on tires designed to move the air Tire design is typically focused on how the rubber interacts with the road, but what about the atmosphere? Yokohama has been developing a new concept tire that can improve both a car’s efficiency and handling by redirecting the air around it. The design involves small fin-like protuberances built into the outside of the tire near its shoulder, where the sidewall meets the tread. (Yokohama) Mounted at alternating angles, when they reach the top of the tire’s rotation they help to reduce aerodynamic drag, which improves high speed fuel economy and, potentially, the top speed of the vehicle. At the bottom,…

So our newest 'WWYBI' installment comes courtesy of C&D once again, with their test of the updated 2016 GS350 F Sport. Here is the review for those interested- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-lexus-gs350-f-sport-test-review As always, you have a 10% range on either side of the test car to spend on a fairly similar car. In this case, we'll call it a sport or luxury sedan of some sort. As always, your selection must be a new and current MY car on sale now. Base price here is $55,700. As tested was $61,690. Therefore, you must spend no less than $50,130. You also cannot spend more than $67,680. That opens a lot of options up, and I look forward to seeing…

It's something I'm thinking about obtaining. I know the market isn't exactly booming and bustling, but maybe there's still decent money in it. I need to do something during much more productive than doing odd jobs and failing at finding full-time work during this period of "downtime" I'm having while I figure out what course of action I should take during college. Perhaps a local firm will hire me and give me a decent salary plus commission. And say if the degree I obtain in college fails to find me permanent full-time work for a period of one or two years, this could be something I can fall back on. I wonder how long it would take to get one outside of an "online cours…

Needs tires and a fuel filter. Lady actually puts Mobil 1 in it. He could get it for 2700.... 2001 Grandpa getter-tan, 82k, very clean, tiny bit of rust. fully loaded, needs nothing. 2800 bucks Which one would you choose for your kid?

At the beginning of the year, in the sports world, the New England Patriots were deemed cheaters with quarterback Tom Brady allegedly throwing underinflated balls in a playoff game against the Indianapolis Colts. Two weeks later the Super Bowl closed with perhaps the worst call in the history of the game by the losing Seahawks. In June, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that denying same-sex marriage was unconstitutional. Kim Davis, the Kentucky county clerk, was made a hero by some marriage traditionalists by refusing to do her job in issuing same-sex marriages licenses and was sent to jail for it. January 18, 2005 Regular or Premium: choosing the right fuel grade by Jim Kerr Deciding what grade of gasoline to use in your vehicle has been a question asked by many readers. Should I use regular, or is it worth spending more for the premium grade fuel? While premium grade fuel may contain a few more additives, most vehicles will operate fine on regular grades. There are some vehicles out there where premium fuel is specified by the manufacturer. What happens if regular fuel or gasohol is used in these vehicles? Premium fuels have a higher resistance to pinging or detonation in the engine's combustion chamber than regular fuels do. Higher compression ratios, hig…

They had three Tundras sitting out on the grass along the road. On the way back, I pulled onto the lot, jumped out, and walked around one. In two seconds, a cheery young saleslady appeared and held out her hand. I shook it and we introduced ourselves. "So, is this the first time you've seen the new Tundras?" "Yes." "Cool!" "Not really." SEOUL, South Korea – North Korea boasted of being a "proud nuclear power" and threatened Monday to harm the U.S. if attacked as tensions mounted over a possible crackdown on exports of suspected missile parts from the North. President Barack Obama said the U.S. is ready to cope with "any contingencies" involving North Korea and vowed not to "reward belligerence and provocation." South Korea's YTN news network reported Sunday that a U.S. Navy destroyer tailing a North Korean ship suspected of carrying missiles and related parts was headed toward Myanmar in what could be the first test of new U.N. sanctions against the North over its recent nuclear test. Well here it is, the beautiful B-17G that came Lawrence Airport this past weekend. I was lucky enough to get up close and take a tour of it as well as get a couple short videos of the engines running. Here's a bunch of photos I took..you'll like this Sixty8 :AH-HA_wink:

The agents give me no lube. Living in Toronto, being 22, and having an accident = about $500/mo.

I'll have the opportunity to take one for a drive in a couple weeks and was wondering what information you guys would like to know when I test it out. I've never driven a Corvette, nor have I ever driven in a Corvette, but since this is one of the cars I would love to own in the near future (although base car, not GS), I am very excited to take this opportunity and answer any questions you might have that I can!

It's not just for saturns anymore...... Anyways, I've been reading quite a few stories about people cutting, or just doing things a whole new way in this lovely economy. I've always been a guy who didn't need a bunch of stuff, but I find it amazing the stuff you can live without. Haven't missed cable, that's for sure. Hulu FTW. Looks the used car idea (for the wife) will stay that way going forward..... My new car needs to stay under 20 grand, period. I think I can get a Cruze or Aveo (if I go the GM route) pretty decently loaded (I'm not a frills kinda guy) for 15-17k. I want to have as few payments of anything possible. Cash is going to be king from here on out..…

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9662037/ I thought GM was the leader in hybrid buses, but now in one order DCX will almost match the number of hybrid city buses GM has sold. Anyone know more about this deal? What made them go with the DCX buses as opposed to the GM buses?

Bloodbath in Germany Dressed in black camouflage gear, the only words 17-year-old Tim Kretschmer is said to have uttered during the schoolroom slaughter were: "Are you all dead yet?" Dozens of police arrived at the scene but the killer escaped and shot dead a gardener outside a psychiatric hospital opposite the school. He then hijacked a car, taking the driver hostage, and fled 20 miles to a car dealership. Once inside, he killed two more innocent people before a gun battle began with police The amateur video footage shows what is thought to be these last moments of his life. Regional police chief Erwin Hetger said: "He went into the school with a weapon and c…

So, I just had a thought pop into my mind: Imagine the future of the V8 as this: 4.0L, twin-turbo, SIDI, 500+HP. How, you ask? Stick two 2.0L SIDI Ecotecs together and that's what you have. I don't know if that would work, but it seems plausible enough. It would deliver pretty good fuel mileage as well, I think. Image the other possibilities, too. The same HP/L (130 is what the 2.0 gets, but lets use 125) out of a 3.0L would yield 375 screaming ponies. A 3.5L would make 435HP... and so on... I think you can do the math easily enough. With forced induction being the wave of the future, IMO, I think we could see "big" V6s drop down to the 2.8-3.2L range from the curr…

When I was little, I first got Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys and then Legos that I would play with for hours and build all these little cities. Then as I got older, I got K'Nex, Micro Machines (I had so many of the city sets that I could cover half of a room), and finally my favorite toy, Girder and Panel. I found my first Girder and Panel (known as KenStruct in the 70s) set at a garage sale...it's basically where you construct skyscrapers with these little plastic beams and columns and then you snap on these plastic panels for the walls and windows. The first set was from the mid 70s, and then one day at Toys R' Us I found out they had a new set and got that for a Ch…

Oh, it sure is. Beautiful... I guess. *shrugs* My Grand Am is now a fastback... My house has kitty killers... Yeah, it's nice to look at, but I hate it. It's freezing cold for one. I stepped outside and instantly felt a slap of cold air. I walked to the top of the hill, too. It was windy and felt like it was negative 20. Brr. The dirtroad was mostly ice with gravel sprinkled over it. Slippery. Everything has about 6 to 10 inches of snow covering it. As you can see, drifting snow turned my Grand Am into a fastback. My Millenia's doors are frozen shut and were impossible to open. My house has huge kitty killers on it. Some are taller than me. Then there's th…

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Space shuttle Atlantis thundered away on its final voyage to orbit Friday, hoisting an experienced crew of six and a full shipment of space station gear. Atlantis sped through a perfectly clear afternoon sky, blazing a trail over the Atlantic before huge crowds eager to catch one of the few remaining shuttle launches. Its destination is the International Space Station, which was soaring over the South Pacific at the time of liftoff. The shuttle should catch up with the orbiting complex and its six residents Sunday. More than 40,000 guests — the biggest launch-day crowd in years — descended on the Kennedy Space Center, all of them eager to witness…

Specifcally a 1994-1998 era GT. The attraction you ask?: -Not a bad-looking thing. -Cheap V8 power. -RWD. -Convertible version (if I was so inclined). -Tons o' aftermarket support. -Relatively easy to find. Of course, this may be one of my (what I fear may become) infamous brief infatutions but at the moment it's looking pretty good to me. Any thoughts?

So I finally got the Buick home, and it actually accelerates and doesn't smoke or smell like gas or exhaust. But I never fixed the other little things, so its a kinda hollow victory. Still no new radio, no cruise control and the headliner is still duct taped up. And it needs a windshield. But at least we'll be able to get the kayaks to the lake without having to pray they dont act like a sail on the Prius. In the long term, I think I'm going to reverse my stance and say that I'll be willing to yank the 307 in favor of something a little ballsier. Also, I got my bike rebuilt and put a new seat on it, but that also feels hollow, mostly because I want a new bike.

Finally! I've been at work but mentally away for about 2 weeks, today was finally my last day before taking a ton of time off. Looking back, I'm not sure why I bothered going in yesterday or today, but I did. Today was fantastic because we had out holiday luncheon which took up about 3 hours of my time, add to that leaving an hour early, and I'm feeling all right. Just need to get through tomorrow and Thursday and I'm off the the beach for a week.

I mean we're all familiar with Skylines at this point (enough boy racers saw to that) And we know of cars like Holden's Monaro and Commodore due to Pontiac getting the GTO and new G8. But....who in North America knew.... ...that there was a Mazda 929 before the one we saw? And a coupe at that!: which happened to have a Cosmo twin: Speaking of Cosmos, look at the preceding version (looks like a Mustang II or Monza notch) Note: We got the fastback, and hose are extremely hard to find these days. I've seen two ever, probably. Who here knew that Mitsubishi was one of Australia's big 3 (along with Holden and Ford) and built cars like the Magn…

i was walking downtown and then i detected seismic activity in brown town. i was with people and if i didn't evacuate the farticles in time, the bullet train express to Brownsville Station would arrive too early. in a moment of sheer genius, i quickly ran to a busker playing good king wenceslas on tuba, threw a dollar and stood next to him, quietly joining in a duet that was nearly pitch perfect because I do lots of squats. when did you conceal farts like a pro?

Hey all, Does anybody have any opinions to share about baltimore? My girl friend and I are thinking of moving there late next year. We both graduate in may and I can easily get another senior paralegal or project manager job in DC. We both like the idea of Baltimore because it is so much cheaper then the greater NYC area where we live now even though we would both be working in DC and we would be getting paid roughly equal to NY wages. From what I've gathered Baltimore has parts you wouldn't want to be caught dead in but has great parts along the river like Ferderal hill. We're both suckers for row houses and we've been to some of the good areas and really like t…

My dad is considering getting a third a car for all of us to run. With the Sunfire still having problems, my Millenia being impossible to diagnose, and my brother needing a car to pratice driving with... It would really be nice. He found a goldish 1999 Oldsmobile Alero GL coupe with 73k that he may get. Signed papers for it, but can back out if needed. Not sure of the price as he didn't really specify. Should atleast be better than the Sunfire, but then, what wouldn't be?
