I stopped by the local GMC dealership this evening after work, went into the showroom and started leafing through that gigantic tablet they have, showing all the different models. A salesdude approached me, so I asked if he had any info, especially pictures, of the interior changes for '07 on the Canyon. He gave me an '06 Canyon brochure. Nice move. So I asked him to mail me an '07 Canyon brochure. We sat down at his desk while he took my info. I casually said, "I understand they're bumping these up for '07" He said, "Yeah, they have more horsepower, but I'm not sure the displacement is any bigger." I said, "Uh, yeah, the 4 is going to 2.9L and the 5 is going t…

Well Deftones got me go'in on these videos. This is my favorite band Savatage. Yea their old but this was in 87, from "Gutter Ballet" their 5 or 6th release. Forgive me if you guys have seen these videos, I rarely watched or watch MTV so I have seen very few. THis is a ballad of sorts but not "love", its about the feelings of a stage performer after the curtain draws closed for what may be the last time. Dont judge it from the opening. Simple song but from the heart, more commercial than most of their stuff. These guys were as much pioneers of "heavy metal" as Metalica or Iron Maiden - debut in 1983. But they have been too overlooked in my opinion. http://video.google.co…

Is it the law over there that everything they make has to be defective junk? Today's frustrations: - Brand new defective fluorescent bulb - Plastic-cased flourescent starters that twist apart as they are installed - Those same starters 6 months later that crumble to pieces due to degraded plastic and so require dismantling the light fixture to remove the remains. Thanks loads, Walmart! We have to find a way to eliminate this junk from our market.

Please, oh please, will someone tell me what exterior differences the new Challenger has from the '70? Please?! All I see is a softer design (uhh, kinda like an anime/Pokemon version of the original, IMO), new taillight panel, new headlights, very slightly mod'd front fascia.

My (non-car-guy) friend is looking for something to replace his 2002 Hyundai Accent. This is the friend of whom asked me to sell his 70s Ford LTD for him. Basically, he feels his car is way too small and way too basic, which is quite understandable. It is a lowly Accent, afterall. He also had to cough up $1k when the timing belt snapped and bent some valves at the end of last year. Otherwise, it's been a relatively good car to him. He's looking to move up into something thats more liveable and will be reliable. One of his main critera is that he doesn't want to drive something that everyone has. My point of posting is... We came across a 2001 Cadillac Catera with only …

Election Night In Your Town

Tonight is the night that is election night in your town. In Detroit, the major story is Kwame Kilpatrick vs. Freeman Hendrex for mayor of Detroit. As it looks right now, Freeman will be the NEW mayor of Detroit, something I sincerely hope happens. Thoughts and what not on local elections in your town?

No, I'm not talking about your favorite lyrics or quotes ... I'm talking about your mantra ... your "instrument of thought". That is, do you have a saying that you use to inspire you? Or, maybe you have a phrase that you use to explain things ... or, perhaps, just to entertain yourself and others ... or, perhaps, to use as an ice breaker or comedic relief? I ask because, I've seen and heard more and more mantras from various people ... and I'm curious if this is something that we all do, even subconsciously.... My mantra, given to me a few years ago by a good friend, is: "Irony rocks". So, if you have a mantra, what is yours? Cort:33swm."Mr Monte Carlo.Mr Road Trip…

here's my guess. You can even expand your list to ten topics if you like. -WHY IS THERE NO CAMARO -WHY FWD SUCKS -MONTHLY SALES POSTS -TOYOTA SUCKS FORUM -HOW GM IS BETTER THAN FORD (bonus) -LUTZ, KEEP HIS ASS OR KICK HIS ASS OUT not presenting these in a mean spirited way, I'm just trying to list what most recurring topics have been, seemingly. I would love your take. This is for fun. Good night, gotta get sleep tonight. Can't wait to see all of your lists in the morning.

Who else has been enjoying this big storm thats been going across the nation? It started raining last night and didn't let up, it turned into freezing rain and finally snow this evening. The best part is that I had to drive around randomly assessing the roads so I could decide wether or not any stores needed to be closed. Since half the town was a sheet of ice and there were no plows in sight, one delivery only store had to be closed. After that I got bored so I came home and couldn't get the Fusion into my garage (driveway is a pretty steep incline) so I left it at the end of the driveway and came inside. Then I used some Nair I found to eliminate a single gigant…

Well, well, well, where to begin? I guess the main reason I wanted to post this, is to inform those that PM me though this site, you will no longer get a response from me if you use this site to reach me. Do I hate C&G you may be asking yourself? The answer is no, I just love GM Europe (GME) more. As this post shows, I have not been banned by the staff here at C&G from posting, but then I never did anything to warrant such a ban in the 1st place. GME and myself have simply come to an agreement that my posting here has served it's purpose, and it's time for GME and myself to move on, we have much work to do, as you can well imagine, which is why I got promoted,…

I've been thinking this topic up for a while. Who do you know personally that has a strange taste in cars that they like/dislike love/hate? My girlfriend for example, hates the Mini, but loves, of all things, the Scion xB. I have no idea why to this day. She hates the Magnum, but loves the Charger. She loves the Mustang. She like her Geo Prism but hates Chevy..even though I told her that her logo has a Chevy emblem on it She does love the Corvette however, and is OK with the Cobalt (because I like it, and the commercials were cute). She doesn't like the Caliber cuz it looks too much like a mini Magnum, but likes the Neon SRT-4. She likes the 300, loves the PT, but hat…

MYFOXNY.COM - Some New York City chefs and restaurant owners are taking aim at a bill introduced in the New York Legislature that, if passed, would ban the use of salt in restaurant cooking. "No owner or operator of a restaurant in this state shall use salt in any form in the preparation of any food for consumption by customers of such restaurant, including food prepared to be consumed on the premises of such restaurant or off of such premises," the bill, A. 10129 , states in part. The legislation, which Assemblyman Felix Ortiz , D-Brooklyn, introduced on March 5, would fine restaurants $1,000 for each violation. "The consumer needs to make their own health choices. J…

Let me just say. F-U-C-K. Since that is out of the way, here's the story. Myself, Dallas, and my brother Zack decided to hit up NYC for a day. We left around 3 am to be there early and give us as much time possible. Pa was a breeze. NJ was until halfway through. After that it was traffic, traffic, and more traffic. Lots of bumper to bumper with random bursts of moving. Mostly stationary with a bit of 2 mph for a good hour. Things started to speed up again right before I-280 started. A little lane changing to get through traffic quicker and then we merged onto 280. Not long after that we came to another halt. Sped up again... and then suddenly the cars in front of me sto…

I thought this would be a fun topic. If you could bring back or create five new GM vehicles that aren't currently in the lineup, what would they be? Here's my list: 1. Cadillac ULS - range topping Cadillac to compete with 7er/S-Class/etc. 2. Buick Velite - RWD sedan, coupe, and convert versions based on the concept. 3. Pontiac "G8" - RWD sedan based loosely on the GTO (next gen GTO, if there is one). 4. Pontiac Kappa sedan - something to give Pontiac a model below the G6. 5. Chevy Camaro - self explanatory I think.

I guess I've never really known much about the Formula Firebird and how differentiated it was from a Trans Am. Someone in my hometown has a '92 Formula Firebird that I believe is supposed to be pretty rare. Could someone give me a quick history lesson on what the focus was for a Formula Firebird vs. a Trans Am (performance, suspension, options, etc)? Maybe like how the IROC was geared toward power while the Z/28 was geared toward handling? I'm assuming they were situated below the Trans Am in price and performance, but what was it that made them so special and some like the '92 so collectible? I tried looking up some info but didn't really find much on them (and did…

remember I am not a huge RWD fan but I thought this would be a fun discussion. What FWD cars now we reap the biggest sales and image benefits had the car been designed with RWD? The rule is the car would have the same powertrains (engine and tranny) as offered now. Styling would remain the same, inside and out. The only change is the drive wheels! You can even do a top 10 list if you like! GO PANTHER!

I voted RWD. Manual trans. is almost as essential but I'd raher have a automatic RWD car than a FWD wiht a manual. As much as I'm into Muscle Cars I've driven plenty of four and six cylinder cars that had a ton of power... even ones without a huffer. For instance given the choice I'd take a '72 Datsun 510 over an '06 Monte Carlo 5.3, or a Cobalt SS over a '96 Taurus SHO. (but then who in their right mind wouldn't?)

... with the full-size Blazer and 2-door Tahoe have gotten me wondering. I wonder how long I can tap the used market for the great stuff GM no longer builds - the stuff I actually like. Almost all of those cars are getting difficult to find in pristine, low-mile, condition. The 2-door SUVs are a great example as they never built enough of them for the demand, consequently they have been in short supply from the outset. This has kept prices quite high even for very high-mileage examples. Seems to me, the same will be true for the GTO and other interesting GM cars going forward. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy rehabing the stuff I find, but it would be nice to find something i…

I've stopped by my credit union to see about a loan and a $4-5k loan is within my reach. I.E. it's doable. I just need to fill out the application. However, I'm still wondering what my best option is right now. While getting the Cutlass up and running isn't as easy as I'd like it to be, it can be done for probably $500 or so. I don't look forward to having to pay for its gas mileage again either, but it is an option to consider. I could also try for another cheap beater or perhaps a lesser loan of $1-2k for something to get me by until I'm finished parting the Jetta out. Finally, I could go for the full $4-5k and find a true replacement, which I will need to do eventua…

Mind you I'm not talking about moving in, getting married, or anything like that....but we've hit it off SO GOOD that I'm ready to start thinking about taking some further steps. "Friday Night Lights" is definitely one of those for me. I cannot believe how big compacts have gotten today. They are now bigger than a car that was inbetween midsize and compact. Just look. My grandma's Cobalt is bigger than my Grand Am. Not that this is a bad thing, but if I want a compact, I want a compact. Not some vehicle that could be considered a midsize 10 years ago. No wonder it takes so much for a vehicle these days to feel fast... Then again, maybe I'm just stuck in the past like Sixty8... :P

This is turning into a little weekly series. Where's it at this week? Dubois, 20 miles away. Imagine this... Idiot lights flashing, clouds of steam trying to escape from the gaps of the hood and the wheel wells... It's quite a sight. It overheated. I guess the first question should be: Do you listen to radio much anymore? With the advent of CDs, satellite radio, iPODS, etc., virtually everyone can create their very own radio station, personalized with no commercials. This means that the "basic" radio stations, especially those that have to air a lot of commercials, are losing listeners. For me, one who loves radio, that is kind of sad...especially since it is kinda cool to hear an older song on the radio that brings back memories, even if the whole world has forgotten. Yeah, it's cool to hear it on the iPOD, too, but when you hear it on the radio, you KNOW you aren't the only one hearing it at that given tim…

At 5 pm today, two blocks from here, a young man inexperienced on his motorcycle lost his life when he was hit by a car. Both people involved are residents of my development. Well, our first big storm of the winter will be hitting tomorrow and I am still waiting for my snow tires to ship to the tire store. I had my first taste of snow and ice in the LS a few days ago and quickly learned how not to drive. I had two fishtails while turning a corner onto a downhill street but recovered easily from both, but not without making my heart race a little. I used to drive an E-350 for work and had to take it out in the snow a few times (many years ago), but it is a big difference driving a cargo van with 2500 lbs of meat loaded up in the back. This weekend I went to Menard's and bought two 70 lb sand bags in addition to the 35 lb one that came with …

Is he gay or straight? At a glance, the key to telling might be in the way he walks. A swing of the hips or a swaggered shoulder is enough for many casual observers to identify a man’s sexual orientation, according to a study published in the September issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. Observers were only able to accurately guess the sexual orientation of men; with women, their guesses didn’t exceed chance. But what’s most interesting to researchers is understanding how that snap judgment can unleash a series of stereotypes — even from the most liberal-minded. “This is important for the understanding of perception and feelings of assumptions…

While I would really like to have a tired old Cutlass to work on and eventually slip the Regal's Rocket 350 into, I'm mulling over pulling the trigger on this particular trade. Winter's getting close and the Firebird has to go as soon as possible. Factor in that I could be moving soon into a house with a nice garage to work in and well ... The Camaro has one big downside: the sheetmetal is full of rust. I'll just let you guys check it out for …

Maybe some of you guys don't wear any, but I do. I don't wear enough that you can smell me coming a mile away (you have to get pretty close), but I've gotten many compliments: all from female co-workers. When I was young, my favorite was Christian Dior's Eau Sauvage. I usually like light, citrus scents like Annick Goutal's Eau de Hadrien or Eau du Sud, which are primarily lemon and grapefruit. I switch in cooler weather to Index's Cucumber Baie and Pomegranite Anise. Lately, I've been wearing Serge Lutens' Borneo 1834, which is patchouli and cocoa, and his Chene, which is cedar, oak and thyme. If you like wearing cologne, I suggest you seek out the Index line by Fre…

Apparently yesterday was national gas boycott day. Apparently people are dumb enough to believe that if nobody bought gas on May 15th then prices would go down significantly. I went off on an acquaintance about this today, as she insisted it would work and I insisted that the laws of supply and demand say it wont happen. Things like this make me hate the internet, just a way for morons to get other morons to believe crap that anyone who has taken Econ 101 would know is false.

Something came up today that, if it pans out, would mean a big change for me. Unfortunately, it would also mean an unpleasant commute inside the city limits of Philadelphia every day. I hate cities, but this could be worth the aggravation. So, I'm thinking that my Tahoe isn't the right beast for such a commute (should this happen). Pushing 200k and at 15 years old, asking it to do a high-traffic, 40 mile slog everyday doesn't seem advisible. It is very early to be thinking about this, but should it happen, a change will need to be made for daily driver purposes. I'm thinking small 4x4 pickup. But I'm not married to that idea in any way. Input?

OK, give us a car make and model and tell us if you think the car is 'male' or 'female'. It's that easy! I'll start VW Eos - FEMALE VW Tiguan - FEMALE Pontiac G8 - Male Chrysler PT Cruiser - FEMALE Chevy Malibu - FEMALE Ford Fusion - Male and some, it's not so clear, or you think different. Let's have some fun with this!

...that I finally buy something I can play around with and take to shows/cruise nights. I've been looking for years, and always wishing and wanting something to call my own. Whether it is a Pontiac Grand Prix ('80s vintage), a T/A GTA ('91/'92), a GMC (mid-'50s pickup, '91 Syclone, '80s Caballero, fullsize early '90s Jimmy), I am going to make it a personal goal to make this happen. I'm tired of going to car shows and admiring someone else's ride and when they ask what I have, tell them nothing. I have a small gold mine sitiing in my basement (boxes of toys collecting dust), and two online outlets to utilize (Craigs list and eBay), so I have to make this happen for me…

This is Dodgefan btw So we're still here, the car is finally about ready to go. Basically it's been an ongoing saga with the B-59 and it's water pump. JB Weld didn't work, Teflon Tape didn't work, so in the end we ended up drilling and threading holes for the impeller and the shaft, then after Paul, Jessica and I went to Sears for screws, we threaded them into the shaft to keep the impeller on, and cut the bolt heads off so they wouldn't hit anything. After that the 3 of us (while Sixty8 worked on the car), went on another trip to AutoZone and then Advanced Auto Parts for a belt that would fit the water pump/generator. Sixty8 managed to fit one on by the time we go…

Understand politics a little bit? I don't feel like researching, but I'd like to learn a little more UNBIASED information about politics. Where do Democrats and Republicans usually differ? I know Dems are tree humpers and Reps typically will go to war much quicker than a Dem. I honestly don't know hardly anything about this stuff and I wish I did since I can vote now. I also have to look up the people running.. whose all running to be Dem and to be Rep right now? Isn't it basically between Obama and Clinton right now for Democrats? And I only know of McCain running for Republican... Somebody, please, enlighten me.

The premise is simple: you have $35,000 to spend on a muscle car/pony car of your choice. Which engine, trans, and trim package would get your money? Fully loaded Camaro RS (2.0T or V6), Mustang (3.7L or 2.3EB), Challenger 3.6L? Maybe you like all performance and no frills with a base SS, GT, R/T?

Your car, I mean. Don't call the cops on me for child abuse I mean, back in the days with my Cavalier, I noticed the rougher I drive it, the better it runs. At one point, I pamper it all the time, and it constantly gives me random problems. Specifically, I had this intermittent starting problem which the dealer couldn't diagnose. But then I started driving it rough, hard accelerations, quick starts with no warmups, almost to the point that I'm doing donuts with it. But it ran much better and problem-free. But now, since I have the G6, I have mixed feelings. I don't want to rough it up, since it's still fresh off the lot, but I'm afraid I might run into the "problems"…

I really want to be Warren Brown, he writes the reviews at the Washington Post and I get jealous everytime he gets a new car to drive!!!! Anyways, maybe you guys can help me get started.....we need a new family car for our soon to be family of three (expecting in March!) and the boy and I are trying to find the perfect smaller SUV. Peter Egan wrote an article in Road & Track a few years back about this topic. What is YOUR current cylinder count? A few weeks ago my cylinder count was: 1984 Dastun Maxima "Zwei" (w/sunroof): 6 1984 Dastun Maxima parts car: 6 1959 Buick LeSabre: 8 1964 Oldsmobile Super 88: 8 1977 Cadillac Coupe deVille: 8 1996 Volvo 850: 5 1997 Cadillac STS parts car: 8 TOTAL: 49 The Volvo, Super 88, Maxima "Zwei" & Coupe deVille are now gone, BUT I have acquired two more cars... The Roadmaster Estate & a very solid 1976 LeSabre 4-door Hardtop with 455 power. So now my fleet is as follows: 1984 Dastun Maxima parts car: 6 1959 Buick LeSabre: 8 1976 B…

I have a mental disorder. I buy cars compulsively, especially after spotting a good deal. It's essentially a crime not to buy if it's a good deal, right? Riiiight?! My current two vehicles fall under that category. The Golf was a $500 investment to get back into the VW fold. I had the Cobalt at the time and had no real reason to buy it... but I did. This process was duplicated with the CRX. I had no intention of buying anything, but I came across the listing after a few hard luck instances with the Golf. I didn't think twice before picking it up. Now, I have 2 vehicles and you would think I could be satisfied... but no. I still find myself wanting random vehicles I come…

In a thread about the Honda Step-Bus concept Moltar wrote: This is a great jumping off point for my perspective on the past 120 (or so) years of the Automotive world. The Automobile was is its infancy when WWI started, it peeked once magnificently in the late 1930s and then stagnated a bit throughout the 1940s due to WWII. Many fantastic things were accomplished in the 1950s especially style wise and then in the 1960s the modern car was born & performance was given to the masses in gorgeous, candy wrapper like packages. Ever since then untill very recently the automobile has been in a downward spiral, getting worse and worse and worse. The 1970s saw …

What, to you, is the best noise you've ever heard come from a car (or truck)? In your response you should, if possible find a video or sound clip for all of us to hear and enjoy it. I've thought about this one for a while. I love the sound of V8's. Ferrari V8s make some fantastic noise, however I generally prefer a deeper note. Top examples include the Corvette ZR1, Challenger SRT8, Mustang GT500, and V8 Vantage. I love V8's and plan to own one at some point. With that sound, the best sound I have ever heard is none of those. It's not a V8 either. The best sound for me comes from the Lamborghini Murcielago, specifically the LP670-4 SV. The way it revs and howls just mak…

Inspired by the top 3 rock n' roll songs thread, list 5 to 10 (or whatever you feel like) rock songs that get on your nerves. They may not necessarily be bad songs, just overplayed and overhyped. BTO - Takin' Care of Business Aerosmith - Dude Looks Like a Lady (I like Aerosmith...but I hate this song) Steppenwolf - Born to Be Wild AC/DC - Back in Black Black Sabbath - Iron Man Ozzy - Crazy Train Metallica - Enter Sandman Jane's Addiction - Jane Says Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody The Who - Won't Get Fooled Again The only two I can't stand are Takin' Care of Business and Dude Looks Like a Lady, but I get really tired of hearing all of them on the radio.

On Wedensday a new CTS Sport (2007) came in, and I spent a good two hours getting her all ready to be put out on the lot. It looked sweet when I got done with it, and I have the pics to prove it In other news, I got to drive a new Tahoe to the gas station along with an SRX V6, CTS (not this one) which was a lot of fun, SRX V8 (loaner car), some other loaner cars that aren't worth mentioning, HHR, and just about an hour ago, an SSR! The SSR was definetly the coolest of the bunch, people were just staring at it the whole time.

I saw this trade-in sitting behind my local Chevrolet dealer and I decided to check it out. It is fully loaded, with the supercharger, auto transmission with normal or perform shift and it is As Is. It doesn't look to have any rust on the body and the paint is in good condition except for some normal chipping. The seats aren't ripped as they are leather and tend to in older GMs. They are selling it for $900 and it has only 209,000kms which is about 127,000 miles. What do you think? Should I go for it? My dad really likes it as well but we need to make sure how it would be on insurance. It will be more expensive because of the supercharger. It is black on beige, has CD and…

They recently became empty nesters and now have the freedom to really drive whatever they would like. Well this past weekend I had a chance to go to the 2009 Greater Milwaukee Autoshow and a few things struck me. The smallish Toyota display very few people in it, even in what I believe to be a hot-bed of Toyota products. The people browsing the Toyota display struck me as "red-necks" that kind you find driving beat up Ford pick-ups and rusted Pontiac Firebirds you know? The things I heard coming from people browsing Toyota's weren't nearly as positive as what I expected, and also there were no turn-tables and an ugly Venza, and Tundra were the only vehicles that really sparked any intrest amoung the crowd. So I saw an ad for a Fiat 500L Urbana Edition the other day and while I can say it is not my cup of tea at all, it got me thinking about cars I do like that I am at least a little bit ashamed to admit to. It does not have to be sold in the U.S. market for you to post it. Here are a few of mine: Fiat 500X Trekking This is the one I was thinking of when I thought of this topic. Back at the beginning of Political threads around here, I said that I saw value in both major party candidates. That has been all but obscurred by all of the BS in this election - all of the substance has vanished. Now, I can't help thinking (as I have for years) that there isn't a dime's worth of difference between them. The arguments are all about accusations and counter-accusations while anything important has been utterly ignored. Sad and stupid.

OK, this is getting ridiculous. Coming home from work yesterday, traffic was slowing as is normal during rush hour. I was in the fast lane, having just slowed from 60+ miles per hour to about five. I didn't even see it coming behind me - a woman in a white 96 Maxima didn't notice that traffic had slowed, and plowed into the back of a Land Rover Discovery, who must have been right on my tail.
