  1. I currently own a 2003 Avalanche. Prior to my purchase of this truck, I was very anti-SUV. I only purchased the truck out of necessity for the management and maintenance of my apartment business. I picked the Avalanche because it was by far the most versatile truck on the market. Since then, I've grown to love the truck so much I can't imagine not having one. I do have my gripes, but lets talk about the new one. The Good The interior upgrade is phenomenal, but anyone with eyes and working fingers can tell that. I never gave much thought to the interior of my '03 because I've always considered it a "work" truck...even though it's a loaded Z71. The switchgear in this tr…

I was thinking of getting out my 2.4L Cobalt SS coupe and into a Malibu SS. Nothing wrong with the Cobalt--I just miss low end torque and an auto would be nice sometimes. Plus now that I have a kid--4drs would work better. I have always liked the SS Malibu--its sqaure, angular lines and SS exterior treatment look far more interesting the Accords, Camrys ect. I like this short wheelbase epsilon...much neater, tider dimesnions then it's long wheelbase brethren (G6, Aura) And I still do but after test driving the car it has too many faults for me. Namely the powertrain and a couple of very minor sqeaks/ratles that my Coblat does not have. The 3900 provided very str…

It's a very sad day at my house since I know that the time is running out for my 1996 Camaro Z28 convertible. I just recently started a new job that requires me to drive in really ugly traffic and spend 1 hour each way a day - something the Z28 is not all too happy about. So the quest goes to replace it. I like the HHRs and they aren't too expensive even with all the options, and the Malibu MAXX SS in Laser Blue looks really good, so I went to a local dealer this morning to see if I could live with the 172 HP in the HHR.... NOPE! There's no way I could be happy - even sititng in traffic with the HHR. It probably is fine for people that did not grow up with musc…

My favorite before this run was the Enclave.. and because of it's styling.. still is. I just LOOOOOVE the smooth, sexy, sultry lines of the Buick more so than the more truck like look of the Acadia/Outlook. The Traverse uses a great deal of styling cues from the Buick. The Interior is, like all the Lambdas, magnificent. The Traverse is in my opinion, with exception to the Enclave, my favorite. Power was fluid and never needing to be pushed. I mean.. Take it from someone who has been stranded with his wife in an electric vehicle not once but twice: You’ll want to watch the distance-to-empty gauge of an EV with a close eye. This is even more critical when the temperature drops below freezing, which is exactly why we ran a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy loop in icy February to gauge how low temperatures affect electric range. ... With the thermometer’s needle pointing at 36 degrees Fahrenheit, we headed out with the cruise control set at a steady 75 mph. We averaged 83 MPGe. The Malibu LTZ looks way beyond Chevrolet's position in the marketplace. Looks so good on the street....it grabs my attention constantly. I'm talking the top level LTZ only, with those nice spidery wheels, heck this car almost has an Audi cache about it. I see more and more new Malibus around town so obviously the public is getting it. If I was in the market for this sort of car, this is the car of choice for me. So impressed. A job well done, GM and Chevrolet. I like especially it's profile...that lower greenhouse makes it so elegant as it glides by.

Yes, styling, brand image and engineering excellence play huge roles. But, ultimately, the best selling cars are often not the most stylish, prestigious and well engineered. When it comes to sporty cars it is important that we recognize that they appeal most to younger people who are starting out in life and have limited financial resources. Before we get to making a car look pretty, marketing it properly and making sure it doesn't break, I believe that it is important that we define it in such a way that is is fast enough, agile en…

For the first time in a generation, General Motors is back with a game-changing mid-size sedan. And the imports better be worried, when they see the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu pull up in their rearview mirror. There was a time when Detroit, GM, in particular, dominated the mid-size market, but that's so far back, many of today's buyers likely won't even remember anything but the more lackluster offerings that f…

In essence, people have been saying that the Accent is simply a better overall value than the Sonic. Now, I have no horse in the race here but it just strikes me as strange to hear that given my impression of the Accent but my knowledge of the vehicle may be somewhat dated (the last time I saw one was circa 2006 in Bushwick, Brooklyn and it wasn't a pretty site). For anyone that grew up loving NASCAR for what it was (not what it has become) there was one huge moment in the late eighties when Dale Earnhardt bucked the trend (no one wanted a black car because it attracted too much heat from the sun, but Dale wanted to be the man in black), switched from Wrangler to GM Goodwrench and painted his car black. I had many a shirt/poster/etc with that black MC SS (and had a 1987 MC SS Aero Coupe) and Lumina. That car color combo is legendary. Then in 2001, it all changed. Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, the UK, et al, could use the infusion of style in their respective Chevy lineups. GM shouldn't rest on the laurels of crusty Daewoos, bland late-model Opels/Holdens, and 90s Chevys. Go look at the respective sites for each country and tell me I'm lyin'. The HHR obviously won't interupt or infringe on the turf of any of the bread and butter Chevys in those markets. Besides, I can't see where it's THAT expensive, plus the car is still small enough and fuel efficient enough, with the Delta/Ecotec mechanicals common enough in the worldwide parts bin. Hell, it would even make a great taxi or cute delivery van in those markets. I think the…

This is a thing I'm used to seeing on about 40% of 97-01 Camrys. It makes your car look and feel really cheap and tinny. A topic that hasn't been touched on a lot is the interior of the Camaro, and something that has sort of worried me since I first saw it. The interior is of course, unorthodox, and its a love it or hate it design. Plenty of people were turned off by it, saying it was too radical for a car of this caliber. Some loved it for its retro cues. So I wanted to ask what everyone here actually thought of the interior, how much will be changed? Should a lot be changed? I myself like it with the exception of the long orange trim around the inside dash and doors. Will it be toned down and tame like the Challengers?

However, the Camaro is actually rediscovering a market segment that has always relyed on stunning looks to survive. The sporty coupe market, despite the ramblings of some, is heavily based on looks, not 0-60 performance. This is an extremely style conscious market in which cars typically have a life span of 3-5 years with a distinctive life cycle that goes from hot to mainstream to yesterday's news, then a new style comes out. However..... The family sedan market is completely different. Peopl…

I have a neighbor who over the years has had a lot of fun cars like a 96 Impala SS, 66 Chevelle, SS Nova etc. Back in 1981 he ordered a new Camaro coupe with only options being V8, Posi, spoiler and AM FM radio. The car is a factory 4 speed. The Gunmetal Grey car has been pretty much sitting in the garage for 25 years. He suffered some medical issues like 3 strokes and several heart attacks including one where he was gone for a little while. H was able to recover to now have the onset of Alzhimers. I grew up in this neigborhood and just came back last year. In that time he has asked me to take the car out and run it as he is no longer able to drive. So at different time…

  59. The death of GMPD has been greatly exaggerated! They are now back to work on some new SS models for the Cruze and Aveo line up. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/23/report-gm-high-performance-division-put-back-to-work-focus-on/ I suspect they are also involved with the ATS V and GS that are coming too. These guys do it right and it will be interesting to see what they can do with a new Cruze many of their people were already tuning the standard suspension vs have to fix the old Cobalt one. These guys are good and worry less on stickers and more on hardware, the right hardware.

I saw 2 new Impalas on the lot at my local dealer the other day, and I have a few questions about ordering models and options.. One of the cars was a Black SS with light grey leather interior, but it had the woodgrain dash applique instead of the Chrome-ish stuff that I thought was specific to the SS. Can you order an SS with the woodgrain dash, or one of the other models with the chrome? The other car on the lot was a dark gray "3LT" that also had the light gray leather, but it also had the 3.9 V6; I thought that the 3.9 was specific only to the LTZ... this car had LTZ wheels and stickered out at over $28K; seems to me that if you can order a "3LT&…

From a cop buddy- NJ just ordered 2 (IIRC) SS Camaros for pursuit duty. As if the blacked-out local Chargers weren't enough to watch out for.... now one of the coolest cars of recent memory has the ability to strike a new type of fear into motorists. Jersey State Troopers are bona fide bad ass (in a good way), and these back that up to the hilt.

Toyota Takes A Swipe at GM’s E-Flex Link to Original Article @ Green Car Congress | 4 September 2007 Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) is positioning its emerging approach to plug-in hybrid vehicles—based on augmenting the battery pack of a conventional hybrid and altering the operating strategy—as an approach superior to that of the series-hybrid architecture of GM’s E-Flex systems, as represented by the different versions of the Chevy Volt. The rationale, outlined by Toyota Executive Vice President Kazuo Okamoto in a presentation about the company’s technology strategies to investors in Tokyo on 3 Sep, is that once current parameters such as driving range, required bat…

Steve Hill, general manager of GM's North Central region, said the vehicles -- particularly the Trailblazer and Envoy -- are part of the automaker's portfolio for the foreseeable future. Hill, who focuses on sales and marketing, was in Mason at Kings Island Resort to talk with about 200 local GM dealers. "Mid-size utilities have been a home run in the marketplace," Hill said. I went dealer hopping yesterday and visited a few friends that work at a couple of Chevy dealerships here in the area. While I was at one I noticed a 07 Trailblazer sitting on the lot with HUGE (I mean they look absolutely massive) wheels on it and as I walked up closer, I saw the SS badging. That thing really does look pretty doggone good. It was the first one I've seen with the exception of pictures around on here. So, has anyone else seen one?

Chevrolet Impala LS By Frank Williams July 20th, 2006 If you want to judge a restaurant, don’t order the chef’s specialty. Go for the hamburger or the omelet. If the man in the funny hat prepares these prosaic dishes with the same passion he puts into his Suprème de Turbot Rôti aux Asperges Vertes et à l'Ail en Chemise, you have a winner. The same applies to cars. If you want to judge an automaker’s prowess, check their basic models. Scope the ones with standard engines and base interiors that hide in the back of the lots. A few miles behind the wheel tells you more about the manufacturer’s passion for product than anything their spinmongers could ever publish. …

I've brought it up here before (probably in the Sales Ticker forum), but I really feel like I see more 2007/08 Tundra's than I do more Silverados. I'm in Houston, and Toyota does really well here pretty much across the board, but it's actually pretty wild how well this new Tundra does around here. They're basically everywhere - and I see all types of people driving them. I look out the window at my office, and it's nothing for me to see 2 or 3 Tundra's within the course of a few minutes it seems. I know they're doing right at about 90k a year (…
