Something that has always bothered me about the Pontiac Solstice would be how they moved the placement of the arrowhead badge and the hood cutline from the concept car. The repositioning of the badge also gives the car more of a "cheeky" look that bothers me a little bit. Just something that I came to a full realization of while looking at my sig. Still a beautiful car, however, and it doesn't do much in the way of dampening my appreciation of the car.

Maybe it's just be, although I know it isn't, but I am getting sick and tried of more and more ads and packaging being in Spanish. At first it was English on top with smaller Spanish below it, then Spanish got bigger until it was the same size, and recently I've seen ads only in Spanish. That really Pisses me off. The first example of this was a several months ago where there were small promotional ads in a store in the soda section that had to do with Pirate of the Caribbean and Coca Cola. There were 4 or 5 of these ads spread throughout the isle and every one of them was in Spanish. Today while browsing Autoblog Sprint just showed a cell phone ad that was exclusiv…

OK, some strange situation arose for my G6. I talked to my dad, and since we wanted to lose the dependency on the co-lessee, my dad is now financing me instead, and we are going to cash purchase it. Something to do with the insurance stuff. However, I called the dealer today in order to deal the price of the car again, and all of a sudden I was told that the saleslady I was dealing with is no longer with the dealership, and now I find myself dealing directly with the sales manager. Things were wierd. I sent her numerous e-mails in the past week, none of them got replied. About 2 days ago, when I got worried about my deposit, I went in to confirm the status of my car, sh…

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Hm5o6u1b8pw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The YouTube video above comes to us courtesy of good old French automaker and new-found GM ally Citroën. In the ad, a strapping young lad pilots a C3 hatchback around a city and is attacked by some fetching young ladies. However, if you watch the ad, something will catch your eye before you make it to the brunette in the black dress 5 seconds in. Okay, never mind the fact the dude is driving a C3 wearing D&G badges. That's not what's strange here. At about 3 seconds in, you notice a taxi cab. It isn't just any taxi cab, though. It's a…

Walk out to my Torrent this morning (dirt covered) and noticed behind my rear wheel on the bumper a foot long mark from a shopping (or something like it). Why I am still a GM fan. I wonder because even some of GMs notably excellent recent efforts don't appeal to me personally. Examples: CTS The Lambdas Malibu It's not that I think the competition is better, I simply don't care for these cars. Then I remember: The 900s The Kappas Zeta Corvette Still, I'm not salivating over anything which I could go buy tomorrow. So, as my sig still says, I'm still waiting.

I've mentioned before my mother recently has gotten a "thing" for new Camaro's, calling me about ones she sees, pointing them out when out, asking me questions about them, etc. Yesterday I was actually home for once and while she was cooking dinner, 5pm rolled around and I clicked on Motorweek in the kitchen. This week's first test, the Camaro SS. Typically I'd be the only one interested in this show at all, but from the second "Camaro" was uttered a certain someone ordered "quiet!", turned up the volume, and intently stopped what she was doing to watch every second of the review. "Oooh, look at that" when they were doing the acceleration, and then more importantly t…

Everybody has certain songs that mean something to them or are instantly recognizable when they hear them on the radio--even if for the first time in years. What songs defined your childhood and if you have a memory, list it. Early Childhood Lionel Richie - Dancin' on the Ceiling One of my earliest memories is of this song when I was 2 or so. My dad had this CD and would pick me up and tap my feet on the ceiling...I loved it. Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back in Town I used to listen to the classic rock station a lot when I was little, and this was a song I always heard and liked but could never get fully recorded onto tape from my boombox. It would always come on …

Went to my local Chevrolet dealer trying to figure out if I could test drive a Sonic nRS...Ocnblu has me thinking... But Eve, the saleswoman I usually talk to, says that there are no Sonic RS's available within 600 miles. Is this thing special order only? Also, I would really like to own one, but am worried about a lot of instant negative equity as small cars usually depreciate like crazy, and this thing is a little pricey... Although it does seem like one heck of a car. Info, please? Thoughts?

The story behind the choices... He has flip-flopped multiple times on what he wants. The choices are all ones he has mentioned. The truck was first choice, it's the beauty of the truck plus the stance of the 4x4 and the 6-bolt rims that were on the 4x4. My problem is the 4x4 part is useless in Oklahoma and the maintenance of a 4x4, plus here these trucks are still going for a premium, from $9-$12,000, depending on condition. I don't want one thats too rough. The civic because the ricer thing hasn't worn off here yet. All his buddies are running around in these damn things, but they're damn expensive for the same reasons. I don't know if it's this weather or what but I feel like total crap! Has anybody else been feeling the "ups and downs" lately? My cat of 18 years is sick due to this weather! Well, I can't say that having a quiet car is a bad thing (in fact I hate the level of engine noise in my Cavalier), but is sometimes too quiet a bad thing? Especially a brand like Pontiac, shouldn't there be more engine noise to make it feel sportier? Surprisingly, a Sunfire is a bit more quiet than a Cavalier because it has slightly better materials. But shouldn't it be the other way around? Is it like we should make a Pontiac as quiet as a Buick? I remember there were reports that people complained the Porsche 996 was too quiet and in the new one they had to make it noisier.

I've been to Pensacola FL many times. I like to go in the shoulder season and mid-week when it's still warm and not too crowded. I may be getting a free ticket on Southwest. Since I have no other vices and I'm cheap, this is the only area where I spend money. I'm looking at their route map and it looks like I could get fairly close to South Padre Island, TX. Not at ALL interested in going when college students are around, so I will pick another quieter time. After all, it's for R & R. Anybody been? Is it nice? Clean, warm water? Good food? In early August my girlfriend and I will be driving to Florida. Along the way we will be passing through Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Georgia. We'll be heading through Alabama on the way back since we're going to stop and visit her niece near Huntsville. I've been to all mentioned except the deep south states like Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi, so it should be a fun trip. How inundated was Nashville with water? TV, radio, the movies ... talk about "Southern Hospitality" and things like "Sweet Home Alabama". For just over a week, I experienced this "Southern Hospitality" phenomenon. And, yes, it is VERY true! I can hardly believe my 2007 road trip is over.... The wintry weather mix (mainly ice/snow) that greeted me when I returned Saturday, December 1, was NOT the way to welcome me back home; though, it was nice to see many people at our annual Christmas Open House that evening. As for the trip itself, I met a lot of great people along the way, saw some "old friends", and missed meeting a number of people as well. I had a blast ... and want to go back on the road ASAP! …

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – Space shuttle Atlantis thundered away on its final voyage to orbit Friday, hoisting an experienced crew of six and a full shipment of space station gear. Atlantis sped through a perfectly clear afternoon sky, blazing a trail over the Atlantic before huge crowds eager to catch one of the few remaining shuttle launches. Its destination is the International Space Station, which was soaring over the South Pacific at the time of liftoff. The shuttle should catch up with the orbiting complex and its six residents Sunday. Quietly, and without fanfare, a trend started in the automotive industry – the elimination of spare tires. It is not a new trend – cars without standard spare tires have existed for some years now, but until now they were exotic sports cars, or high-end luxury cars. Unfortunately, that is about to change with this trend going mainstream. Up to this point the most extreme case of the lack-of-a-tire syndrome were the GM roadster twins – they did not even offer a spare as an option – the trunk on both cars is simply is not big enough. The GM twins, however just followed the trend in many luxury models that either came with run-flat tires or “tire inflation kit” (read: bottl…

The show dates are August 2 - 10. To me HAN has to be one of the best shows ever. All of the entries are 1972 and older American and European cars and trucks. Panther would probably have to be restrained. (j/k) This years entry limit is 5500 and if anyone thinks that is all that will be down there, they are nuts. I remember because I was showing it to a friend of mine shortly before I graduated high school in 2003. Back then, it had 62 and change on the clock and was listed at $10,000 even. I guess it accumulated ~500 miles from being moved back and forth between their two lots so much. Today, it was up in Palm Harbor again. I've seen it on eBay four times. I have one. Well. Sort of. Its my demo-of-choice from the lot, a burgandy 2002 FWD Aztek with 109k on the clock. And boy do I love it. I honest-to-goodness think Pontiac made an error in judgement by settling for a cheeply-rebadged Equniox over going its own direction with a refined, improved Aztek. I say this because as lambasted as it was, the original Aztek had something to Torrent lacks - personality. And before someone makes a crack about personality being something the ugly girls have, I'll remind you the ugliness is truly only skin deep on this thing. One of the hallmarks of the Aztek is that its so ugly, its cool. There is no angle of this beast that is in any…

My Jack-O-Lantern for 2008. I carved it last week, that way it should survive until Halloween. I even made a special tool by grinding down a baby-screw driver and filing it down into a saw. This year I gave Sofia an orange Sharpie marker and had her sketch out her own design on a pumpkin, after which I carved it with her pointing out the lines and giving me "artistic direction" the whole time. Kids are so much fun. Some days she makes me want to pull my hair out but overall she's a great little girl. Also, we went apple picking two weeks ago, including a hayride, petting zoo and all that fun stuff.

Since then, I've been considering switching to these plates on all 5 of my Monte Carlos. But, I haven't yet switched because of the increase cost of the plates [though, on the plus side of that, a portion of the fee supports the Illinois Route 66 Heritage Project]. Who do you most like to watch lose in a sports sense? Me personally I hate Penn State and the Lions. Can't stand Jo Pa and his boys... Would gladly watch OSU go 1-11 to watch them beat Penn State. Also, I've lived in Ohio for 21 years but...I have no love at all for the Browns or Bengals... Steelers all the way for me! And I also can't stand the Cowboys, pretty much. And in Hockey I have no love for the Edmunton Oilers...at all. So who do you love to watch lose? Chris

Dang! I spotted my first prototype today, but I had no camera (I had 3, but they were all used up; of all the luck!!) I managed to see the rear and a bit of the doors, but since itn was driving fast down the highway, it was hard to tell. My guess: The NG Mercedes E-Class.

What can I say, I love goblin up some car spots. They put a toothy grin on my jack-o-lantern. Post away, even if it's just some chick in black riding a broom. (sooo sorry)

Saint Patrick didn't have a decent car, so he moped around with his head hanging down. That's when he spotted a four leaf clover and his luck changed. He got a great deal on a Clover Green Holden Cruze v. 2 while he was on tour in Australia, and the rest is history. SRSLY. March yourself right in here and post your lucky little pots o' gold.

This morning at about 8am I was on I29 heading south between the Canadian border and Grand Forks heading back to Fargo. Just north of Grand Forks I noticed a Charger, a 300, and too matching Aspens heading toward Canada. I thought it just could have been a coincidence but not a half mile later I saw two matching camo'd SUVs tagged by a 4 door Wrangler. Both these vehicles were a little smaller than a Durango it seemed...I'm guessing they were Journeys, but I don't know. They were under light camo, just the front fascia and the back hatch seemed to be covered. About a mile later I saw a Caravan, followed by what was unmistakably a Challenger under complete camo fol…

Yeah, I forgot about it being the first day of DST until I logged on this morning and my computer had the new correct time. I guess the earlier change to DST came in a Windows update I downloaded at some point? Anyway y'all, Rock out with your clock out! Be on time! The first few days of this I always feel robbed of an hour until I get used to it.

I work a ridiculous amount of hours, but I also squeeze in 2 grad courses at night during the semester. Yeah, nuts is the word. Next week, on the semester system, is Spring Break so I ONLY have to go to my full-time day job. Each "book-end" weekend to the break is therefore "free." I'm going hot springing this weekend and to Las Vegas next Friday / Saturday / Sunday (I am itching for some sun and warm temperatures). Las Vegas is so relaxing ... and you can have the best time without even putting a quarter in a slot machine (poolside, Lake Mead, cheap abundant food, entertainment). What are any of you doing/where are any of you going?

Let's hear some. Good or bad. Doesn't matter. Las Vegas...long weekend...not that warm, shucks...love the starkness of the desert landscape but wouldn't want to live there....there's a lot of low-life around (what do you expect in a gambling based town). Took the last flight back up and it ran late, so today at work was B...A....D.

I loaded up on THREE night classes (9 semester credits) and should wrap up this degree in mid-May. Last night was my last mid-term. Kind of tough, actually. So, now it's time to go away. I leave for Las Vegas on Sunday (should be toasty) and then for LA on Wednesday, triangulating back up next Saturday. Booked a while ago so I got real cheap fares (each leg under $ 100). I am itching for some poolside r & r and sunshine. How about those of you celebrating Spring Break? Any plans?

Another spring means another weekend whipping out the trusty old Meguiar's clay and wax kit. I spent a good couple hours just getting rid of the little rust fallout spots that accumulated during the winter, and finished it all off with a couple coats of wax. Post your spiffed up rides if you have them.

This weekend is/will be fantastic weather wise. Low to mid 50'a, sunshine, and a gentle breeze. Can't waste the whole weekend indoors that's for sure, so it's time to get a head start on spring cleaning for the cars. What's done: Vacuumed and cleaned the interiors of both cars Detailed the Intrepid's interior (vents, switches, cracks, etc.) Cleaned the dirty off of the door frames Cleaned the dirt and grime off of the lower inside edge of the doors Cleaned and organized the trunks Added P/S fluid to the Prizm Cleaned the gunk off of the P/S fluid reservoir What's on tap for tomorrow: Adjust the serpentine belt on the Intrepid Thoroughly wash …

Beautiful sunny day today, out on I-77 south of Canton saw a couple strange sights...I saw a big rollback wrecker loading a presumably broken-down black current style Chevy Silverado HD 4dr that had been towing a large fifth-wheel travel trailer (like 35 foot or so)...was on a uphill section of I-77. Later saw two new (w/ temporary tags) Volvo three rear axle semi-truck cabs (googled the model--the 'VHD'), one red, one white, lots of chrome driving together...the odd detail was the red was flat-towing an older Honda CRV.. Saw a solid third gen Camaro IROC-Z in bright red, t-tops off rumbling along in traffic through Akron...paint was a bit faded in places, but i…

It's still March, but today was 92. Seems too early for such warm weather, that's a May temp here normally. But I have used the A/C in the car during the last week. Cleaned the house ceiling fans and replaced the A/C filters today...A/C season will be here soon. Anyone else notice unseasonably warm weather in their area during March?

Well now that all the new cars are starting to debut, my photos from the previous season start to become worthless. Heh, oh well. Anyhow I thought Id post some that were never published. I'll have something nice to post once the Nitro debuts. '07 Edge: This Edge prototypes was being loading and this was the last angle I shot. The older guy sees me and says in sort of a long, drawn out, grandfatherly tone "heeeeeeey....he's takin pictures." Then his wife's head pops out of the car. Sort of 2 deer in headlights. I guess it might be a "you had to be there" moment for it to be funny. They didn't seem to care that I was shooting at all....which is always the best kind of…

Hey guys, I've been using my parents' PC, which is infested with the occasional pop-up, and it's driving me insane. The pop-ups are related to whatever website I'm viewing. If I'm on a site about, say, internships, then there will be a Yahoo! Jobs pop-up ad. Sometimes if I click on a link from a Google search, it will automatically take me to a different, spam website. If I click "back" and try again, it's usually okay. It seems like Firefox is working overtime to close these pop-ups - the uppermost "bar" turns light blue, and I have to click on the browser to continue scrolling or typing - though several still come through. It's annoying, and I'm concerned about m…

Minicars have stepped up their game in recent years. If you were looking at this class for your next new vehicle, which one would you choose? Fiat 500? Scion iQ? (done after the '15 model year) Chevy Spark? Ford Fiesta? Honda Fit? Smart FourTwo? Any others you can think of in this class? I think I would have to go with the 2016 Chevy Spark 2LT, with manual transmission, in Titanium or Kalamata. The new Spark has grown up big time, with a more mature look inside and out, and some unexpected features for this class. I expect some will say "buy something bigger that is a few years old", or "I'd rather walk than drive any minicar", but just for the sak…

Who ever has dreamed about going to Europe, at the fraction of the price, do what I did, go to the French-owned island of Saint-Pierre et Miquelon, right off the Grand Banks of Newfoundland... http://www.iihs.org/news/rss/pr061306.html Electronic stability control could prevent nearly one-third of all fatal crashes and reduce rollover risk by as much as 80%; effect is found on single- and multiple-vehicle crashes ARLINGTON, VA — An extension of antilock brake technology, electronic stability control (ESC) is designed to help drivers retain control of their vehicles during high-speed maneuvers or on slippery roads. Previous research found significant effects of ESC in reducing the risk of fatal single-vehicle crashes. Using data from an additional year of crashes and a larger set of vehicle models, researchers at the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety have…

If you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers (or alternative in general), you're going to love this album. I've had it for all of two hours and it's already a candidate for album of the year (for me, at least)! I suggest purchasing form the iTunes Music Store, as you get a video on the making of the video for "Dani California," a 17-page digital booklet, and an hour-long audio commentary. (Ultimate-Guitar.com said you can get a special edition with these bonuses plus some other toys for US$130. Yeah, I'm gonna have to stick with just paying $19.90.) Recommended tracks: Dani California Snow (Hey Oh) (John's guitar work is amazing) Slow Cheetah Tell Me Baby Hard To Conce…

I just wanted to see if, in addition to all the car geeks, we have Star Trek geeks too? I've always kinda thought about my vehicles as classes of ships from the series. I just wondered if any of you Star Trek (or other Sci Fi series) thought about it in the same way. Like my Toronado is a Constitution Class - Old and out of date, requires a bit of tinkering down in engineering to keep running right, not particularly fast, but be good to her and she'll always get you home. I already have my other two thought out, but I want to see if anyone else participates before I share them.

Howdy all C&G Forum fans, time to get the Sci-Fi debate on! So we have what has been well received as the official reboot of Star Trek. Characters that truly represent the original crew of the Enterprise and some kick ass entertaining movies. Officially original Spock has died and a solid tribute to him was done in the last movie. Sadly the actor playing Chekov died over the summer due to an accident with his jeep and pinning him down till he suffocated and died. So lets discuss where we think this story is going to go, take the easy way with refiliming the same story lines, new story lines, what? How will they deal with Chekov's death? Will they mark it as …

First and foremost, Starbucks is a stomping ground for losers involved in multi-level marketing....Amway, Quixtar, etc. These people are the bottom of the cesspool and it's too bad they have to bother people wanting to enjoy a cup at Starbucks or peruse books at B&N. About 1 year ago, I had an Americanized Hispanic guy start chatting me up at a Starbucks about 2 miles from my place. About the fifth question is what do you do and where? I tell him I don't disclose that and since his "sequence" and "approach" is so familiar and proceeded to go off on him. He hadn't EVEN ordered a drink! Most of these people are such zeroes...they're stringing together all kinds o…

One of my friends over AOL was telling me there was this new Starburst commercial out for Berries & Cream that was hilarious. They told me to watch it on YouTube. So I watched it, and....it was probably the stupidest commercial I have seen in the last few months (and I've saw some pretty wacked out ones in Greece). I laugh fairly easily at funny things, but I just sat there thinking "am I missing something?" Then I look at the comments below on YouTube and everyone is in an uproar at how amazing this commercial is and how they just can't stop laughing..."funniest commercial ever!!" Have I been over in Europe long enough that I have completely lost my sense of hum…
