Does anyone here have any interest in manufacturer press kits? I have certain ones I will not be parting with (Stingray, NSX) but most others I need to get rid of. If you cover the shipping I would be happy to send them to you. Most come with a catalog type information kit and a USB drive. I have 2015 Challenger/Charger (unopened) - Claimed 2014 Jeep Cherokee (unopened) 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee (opened, complete) 2014 Jeep Kit with books on the lineup and a small safety kit (very heavy metal box, have USB drive but I've used it so it is blank) 2014 Dodge Durango - large book with USB inside. (open, complete) Kia Soul - USB drive only....blank, in the shap…

Motor Trend recently did 3-row SUVs comparison and just today posted Explorer vs Traverse comparison https://www.motortrend.com/cars/kia/telluride/2020/3-row-midsize-suv-comparison-test/ https://www.motortrend.com/news/2019-chevrolet-traverse-vs-2020-ford-explorer/ Both Explorer and Traverse rated pretty badly, with Traverse significantly better than the newer Explorer. I think it is simply unforgivable for domestic bread and butter crossovers to be so bad and even more unbelievable that they are being badly beat by a KIA! This is overall test rating: 9th Place Volkswagen Atlas It's plenty spacious but has a ride that will make kids carsi…

What are you all doing for Easter (this Sunday)? I leave tomorrow pm to go to Portland to visit my Mom. Will probably spend Saturday driving to the Oregon Coast (about 80 miles to the West and very scenic, but generally c*o*l*d). Then a Sunday morning brunch and onto the plane in the afternoon to come back down. Happy Easter!

Well, it seems I am seeing way more NEW American cars on the road. Great! This morning, I saw another new red Camaro parked next to a meter and, on the freeway, I was following a brand new black Mustang. (Gosh, darn, the slight design adjustment in the rear light panel with the tapered taillamps makes it very attractive). I also see lots of new Fusions still wearing their new dealer plates and quite a few new Malibus. I also see many new Focuses. What I see less of is Enclaves, which started out hot, and seem to have waned. (Personally, I don't like them, they're too bloated and bulbuous). I notice this because I live in a state that wears its love for foreign…

Today marks the five year Anniversary of me & Marcia's first date. What a long, exciting, strange trip it has been. Since the major SNAFU this past Sept. we have been doing better than ever & today we're going to celebrate all the wonderful products of our relationship. Sofia being the greatest natrually. Our empathy towards eachother & the communication have improved imenselly and I have to say that I was wrong about couple's counceling, it can do a world of good in some cases. I have been very happy with the direction of my life as of late which is a pleasant change since the depresion and apathy I was feeling a few months ago.

I know Camino has made posts in the past about what phantom vehicles you'd like to see, so here's my selection to start it off. Post yours if you care to share

Okay, guys. Start making a list of what you think the one or two top vehicles per brand will be (or are) that will bring each brand back into the spotlight for GM, as a whole, to prosper like it once did. I'll start: Buick: A Zeta sedan.. Right now, nothing's happening at Buick except talk. The Enclave might draw its own crowd, too, but it might not get enough talk. Cadillac: A&S v1 did it essentially, but the '08 CTS will really get them going Chevrolet: Camaro and Impala. Two pre-existing vehicles on a brand new platform with much better quality, design, and technology. Chevy Trucks/GMC: The Avalanche and rest of the 900 fleet look amazing; this'll do it. Give t…

It has been raining or sprinkling nonstop for the last couple days as a storm system has stalled out over eastern Iowa. So far we have 8 inches of rain here in the city and streets and streams are starting to flood. We have these teaming rooms in our office we call the cubes (see pic below) and one spots leaks by the air handling unit. We put a 10 gallon trash can up there to catch the water drip, but today it filled up so fast that the weight caused the bucket to crash through the top layer of drywall and water starting spilling into the insulation and causing the lower drywall to bubble. The can was too heavy to lift out, and being the tall one I was volunteered …

I went to see Friday the 13th a few days ago. It was pretty impressive. But I think I liked Jason better as a Zombie because he was more 'supernatural' and didn't need to be human to kill people. You can definitely tell the Texas Chainsaw influence in this movie (The same guy did the Texas Chainsaw remake) Saw The Spirit a while back... Some hot chicks and cool elements, but don't waste your time. The 'mythical' and 'beat cop' elements of this story don't quite mix IMO. maybe they were better in the novel (which I've never read) Now I know why Frank Miller retired after the RoboCop movies (because apparently he can't make a decent movie. First 300, and now this... S…

I enjoy making up words, so there may be further installments, but we'll see how this one goes first. Original word: anachronism--something out of chronological order, that belongs in a different era. Example: Moses wearing a wristwatch in "The Ten Commandments." Enzora-fied word: anachromism--something that is of a color that would not be seen as logical. Example: Automakers choose bright/flashy colors for sporty cars, but due to cost-effectiveness, put it on all other models as well. Which creates...... Bam! Teal minivan! (Special thanks go out to Croc and razoredge for inspiring my thought on the meaning of the word root "chrom.")

Story Link By JENNA FRYER AP Auto Racing Writer NASCAR said Jeremy Mayfield once again tested positive for methamphetamine and asked the federal judge who lifted the driver's drug suspension to reinstate the ban. The positive result from a July 6 random test was included in a U.S. District Court filing Wednesday that included an affidavit from Mayfield's stepmother, who claimed she personally witnessed the driver using methamphetamine at least 30 times over seven years. Mayfield once again denied ever using the illegal drug. "I don't trust anything NASCAR does, anything (program administrator) Dr. David Black does, never have, never will," Mayfield told The Ass…

Hey ladies and gents, So the gf and I finally got Netflix last night(signed up for it) and we had intended to use her ps3 because we are always at her house when we watch tv/movies. Well, i have a 3rd gen ps3, I think - first gen when they changed the "body". And I know I can watch Netflix from my PS3. Well hers doesn't have the "tv/movie services" tab like mine does. Sorry, forgot to say, she has a first gen PS3(plays ps2 games). The question really is.. can Netflix be watched from her first gen PS3? If so, how? Thank You!

I saw a lot of cars this month, as I was in Eastern Canada and their cars are about the same, but some are a little different. October 4 - Saguenay fjord (port) / Chicoutimi, QC Another ~20-year-old Olds Alero with some rust still delivering the goods and parked at the port of this now more publicized destination in Quebec; I was walking around the port and saw this Pontiac Wave parked on a hill on someone's lawn. I wonder if it still ran. They didn't bring the Wave to the U.S., but possibly featured it here as the Pontiac G3. Either way, Canada sure took to Pontiac.

After about 8 years, I resigned my position with Brenda Priddy & Co. early last week to start my own business. About 2 months ago I thought staying on part-time at BP & Co, while doing flight school, would work. More recently, however, it became apparent that the best choice for me would be going on my own. Certainly not an easy choice to make, but with the big cost of flight school, I've got to look at everything from a business standpoint now. http://www.facebook.com/ChrisDoaneAuto

RE the recent '66 Impala discussion.... these seats recently sold on eBay. They were from a '61 Starfire, but (pattern aside) are correct for '59-60 also (of note; they have full metal backs). There were 5 pics, but you absolutely get the picture of their condition. No tricks. Without checking the link / eBay, what would you guess a pair of '59-61 GM buckets, in complete but worn shape, would go for?

What does everyone think of the job Rick Wagoner has done so far, and of the plans he has made known? Why do you feel this way? Who could be better? In the past few weeks of watching the news and reading the papers, GM has been mentioned a lot. None of it good. While all of the other automakers are in a financial mess, and no one can argue that Chrysler and Ford are in trouble as well, GM seems to be the worst off. I see Chrysler teaming up with Nissan (Titan/Ram, and Dodge/Versa) to get a better hold on the market. I also see that slow sellers (PT Convertible, Aspen Hybrid, etc) are getting cut. Over at ford there is a beautiful new Lincoln MKS, other products in the p…

Ok, so this conversation started at work towards the end of the day and continued over dinner and via text message through the night. Some friends and I were talking about ways to make already existing movies better, or at least more interesting. Some of my suggestions: Chuck Norris as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. He has a beard already. Speaking of The Passion, wouldn't it have been a lot more interesting if M Night Shyamalan had written and directed it? How about Mel Gibson directing Schindler's list or The Sound of Music? There were more but those were the most amusing ones I can remember.

Bleh, I never set up Word when I got this computer a few years ago. I rarely use it, but yesterday I got an email from my dad about our big family reunion this weekend, and there's a Word attachment with the itinerary I'm supposed to print out. When I try to print it, it says I need to set it up and I need to furnish my "product key", a 25 digit number, which was supposed to be written on the CD case, I guess, or the book... somewhere. That stuff is all gone, I don't know of a way to find that product key now. Can anyone help me set up Word so I can print this document? Many thanks.

C&G IRC Introduction Before major updates, C&G had a chat function that was great for our members to communicate in real time about anything be it topics on the forum, or just shooting the breeze. It was especially handy if you need to give directions or ask/answer quick questions. However, that function was unstable, and caused plenty of problems. However, there is a way to talk with members using Internet Relay Chat which is a tried and true method for e-talking over the the large series of tubes called the Internet. All it requires is a 'client' and a little finagling to get set up and running. Many IRC clients exists, and they all do the same things but …

The 'OTY' thread got me to thinking about this. In terms of credibility, lack of bias, testing procedures, judging criteria, etc, etc, who do you feel is the best automotive review source out there? A big name like MT or C&D? Something more specialized like Top Gear or EVO? Something smaller like Autoblog, TTAC, Everyday Driver? And what is your reasoning behind your choice? Keep in mind I am limiting this to testers/reviewers, not sources for reliability, quality, etc.

So here I am with my girlfriend in Wichita, KS for the summer. In May I flew down here, on August 20th, we're gonna driver her car back to Massachusetts. Her car is a 1994 Geo Prism, 1.6, with a 5-speed manual and 164K miles on it. As we know, the Prism is a basically a Toyota Corolla, with a slightly different front and rear end, and different center stack. The body is in great shape, save for a dent in teh passenger fender and a missaligned bumper, but has no rust at all. Sounds like a good car right? WRONG First the timing belt needs to be replaced, second it slips out of 3rd, and won't even go into 4th. Sometimes it won't go into Reverse. We went to Cottman Transmis…

I replaced the painted rear bumper with a new chrome one and added the Mustang letters to the trunk after these pics were taken. When I got it the chrome trim at the leading edge of the hood and fenders as well as both bumpers were painted body color. I replaced them all with new chrome pieces.

My dog Lucky developed a limp about three weeks ago. Given that it manifested itself after she a) had been roughhousing with our other dogs and b) jumped off the deck, I decided to have her looked at. The vet on call first said it was a sprain and gave me some happy pills to give to her. Even on the happy pills she still favored it and it got no better. So I brought her back in and the same vet ran bloodwork on her. The regular vet I regularly deal with said the bloodwork came back positive for Lyme Disease, and told me to stop the happy pills and give her these antibiotics instead. One week later, still no improvement. Last Thursday I take her back to my regular vet and …

GM gave me the 2010 SRX for a long weekend. Quite a good car. With the AWD and adaptive "FE3" suspension, the handling starts to feel almost Audi-like. Looks great inside and out. Absolutely kills the RX in styling. I didn't really like the way the SRX looked on the outside at first, but the more I see it, the more I like it. Just one of those cars you need to see in person.

Toronado Appreciation

You know, I found a little more respect for the last generation Toronado today. I was browsing the Heritage section of Oldsmobile's site today, and I looked through the 1980s photos. There was a photo of a basket handle shifter, a part that was sometimes seen on hi-po Chevelles and Camaros back in the late Sixties and Seventies. When I go to a classic car show, I always get a kick out of that particular interior piece. I thought it was initially part of a concept car's interior. Then I saw that a part of the side-out pop-up read "1986 Toronado." Also, the last-generation Toronado dash had such an array of interesting features. But, I'll let the photos try to speak that p…

Can you identify what vehicle this gear shift is from? This is not a joke. It's from a friend's Facebook account. He says its not photoshopped other than colour and contrast tweaks (he's a pro photographer). Apparently it's from an abandoned vehicle, all he gave me so far is the location. I asked him for more info, I'll let you know. View full article

I have been a little busy and have wanted to go see a flick. For some stupid reason, I wanted to see "Poseidon." The reviews were not good, but I love ships. Two years out of college, I got to go on the QE2 but I was hooked long before then as a little kid when we would sail out of NY on other liners to go see relatives on the other side of the Atlantic. Is "Poseidon" any good? Any good comedies or mysteries out there? Reg, where are you?

I don't know how to describe how angry I became when I had to watch this ad (the batteries in my remote had died and, by the time I had decided to change the channels myself, it was already too late). Personally, I didn't want to be reminded of Black Friday. I didn't want to be reminded that Thanksgiving has become nothing more than a national holiday where people don't so much as cherish the opportunity to spend the day with their family and loved ones and instead just eat massive quantities of food so that they can muster up the strength to wait in line in front of a department store where they'll ultimately be trampled to death to buy some piece of $h! low-quality good…

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationw...ack=1&cset=true (need to be registered) When domestic automakers had their backs to the wall 25 years ago, they could count on a "Buy American" sentiment to keep some customers from defecting to fuel-efficient foreign cars. Today, many loyal domestic vehicle owners say they would be comfortable buying an import. Art Spinella, president of CNW Marketing Research, says the confusion over national origin means consumers are less likely to try to help fellow Americans by buying a domestic vehicle. "Basically, they throw their hands in the air and just buy what they like," Spinella said. When CNW surveyed shoppers coming ou…

*peers around* Can hardly believe this type of thread hasn't been started yet ... so here goes: CONGRATULATIONS INDIANPOLIS COLTS! It's a disappointing loss for the Chicago Bears, certainly, but it's also disappointing to see the "finger pointing" at Rex Grossman. He wasn't the only one on the field.... *shakes head* While I'm disappointed that the Bears lost, I am happy for my many friends who are staunch Colts supporters. Hmm...baseball season isn't that far away.... Until then, Chicago has the Bulls and Blackhawks to watch, though the Blackhawks aren't doing very well. Oh, and let's not forget Mike Ditka's Chicago Rush indoor football team ! Cort:33swm."Mr Mo…

Four kids elementary / middle school age were caught today throwing debris off the 9th Street bridge in Des Moines that passes over I-235, and Channel 8 news captured them throwing a log over just before police arrived. Not only did they throw a log, they also threw bricks and rocks. Keep in mind that these bridges were recently rebuilt and now have the protective fences, but they were low enough that the kids could still throw stuff over them. Someone died on I-80 a few years ago after a group of teens threw a concrete block over and it smashed through the windshield. When they interviewed one of the kids, he said it was a dare and was kinda smirking about it. Sad t…

Black Barbie Sold for Less Than White Barbie at Walmart Store Walmart Says Lower Sales of Ballerina Theresa Barbie Prompted the Price Cut Walmart is raising eyebrows after cutting the price of a black Barbie doll to nearly half of that of the doll's white counterpart at one store and possibly others. A photo first posted to the humor Web site FunnyJunk.com and later to the Latino Web site Guanabee.com shows packages of Mattel's Ballerina Barbie and Ballerina Theresa dolls hanging side by side at an unidentified store. The Theresa dolls, which feature brown skin and dark hair, are marked as being on sale at $3.00. The Barbies to the right of the Theresa dolls, meanwhil…

Hello my friends. I am besides myself at this time, finding it hard to sleep. I know tomorrow will not be any better, and I would like to share with you the reason why I feel this way tonight. One of our two family dogs (both Lhasa Apso's, Benji [11 years old] and Snickers [8 years old]) over the weekend suddenly became ill - the younger dog, Snickers. He has always been in good health, but this weekend he was showing signs of distress. An appointment with the vet tonight did not bring good news. The vet listened to his lungs and verified that he was having major breathing issues. An x-ray showed his lungs were enlarged due to advanced cancer and the only humane opt…

I signed up for an environmental class that dealt with environmental planning and stuff along those lines. I originally took it because it actually sounded kind of interesting and I was genuinely interested in the subject, but I dropped it like a yesterday's news, mostly because I realized I was taking too many credits (18) along with having an independent project and going to work about 15 hours a week. Just too much stuff to juggle. There were some real strong opinions in that class...polar opposite too. On one hand, you had the conservative ag/forestry/civil engineering kids and on the other you had the liberal political science/environmental studies/design kids. …

I had it from 3 until I went to bed last night and woke back up with it. All morning I've been rubbing various pressure points in my face, neck, and palm. Any other suggestions? I think I'll take a nap on my lunch break.
