  6. At January's Detroit Auto Show, GM pulled the wraps off of one of the most highly anticipated new cars of the year – the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, also known as the C7 or seventh-generation 'Vette. The introduction of the new Corvette marked the return of the LT1-moniker to GM's new-generation small-block V8 engines, the revivial of the Stingray name itself, as well as an interior finally worthy of a car intended to fight on a stage with such cars like the Porsche 911 and numerous other sports cars and supercars from Europe. To the dismay of loyal 'Vette enthusiasts, the new Stingray also marked the end of more traditional Corvette styling cues such as round taill…

Since it's dayview, I haven't thought too much of this vehicle. After reading about it in the latest M/T mag I not anymore of a fan than before. What was GM thinking when designing this vehicle? Why the I-5 for one? Why isn't it just based off the Trailblazer with the 4.2? 14cty/19hwy is hardly good milage for a low output I-5 so using that motor for milage is no excuse. It's off road capability's rated well but that's where it stopped. It's slow, underpowered, can only tow 4500lbs for the price of a full size truck or decently equipped Avalanche. $30k base and $38k loaded!

I would just like some honest opinions on the new HD's. To me it seems like GM dropped the ball with these trucks. The half tons get a new frame and well everything, while the hd's keep the same frame with maybe a few mods. I know there are a lot of people out there that would like to see a straight axle on the front, I'm one of them. I know IFS rides better and is "strong" but its just not the same. It seems like every construction company or what ever where trucks get used hard all use ford or dodge. I believe the front end is a big player in that. Why would they keep it relativly unchanged? Now with ford and dodge getting new diesels it seems GM will have a har…

I like my SS too but I think I would have got the Cobalt SS before I would try to run the HHR on the track. 3200 ponds and a lot of upper weight would have hurt performance vs low slung sports cars.

The new set up is at 290 HP with 314 FT LBS of torque. So far it has much more usable power and will see PSI reading up over 20 PSI any time you step on it. Some high alt areas may see as high as 27-28 PSI. Torque steer is more but with a FWD your going to get that. Once you are used to it id no big deal and you learn to expect it. The Speedo and Tach are similar to the Camaro concept as is the console. Don't know if any of this is base of future production items but it would be tempting to use them in show cars prior to release of the Street car. I expect the rest of the dash is not anything Camaro related as it is just to big and truck like. But the gauges on the other hand might be a hint of the production items as they are toned down from the concept. The interior also featured recovered Vette seat.

Well, Kelly Blue Book has figured out and answer. They said, the 2011 Chevrolet Volt will be worth $17,000 after 36 months. That's only 42% of the Volt's $41,000 MSRP. Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting at KBB said the projected residual value is on the low side. But, Ibara points out the first 200,000 Volts will be offered with a $7,500 rebate dropping the MSRP to $33,500. Using the $33,500 MSRP and KBB believing gas prices wi…

Does anybody think that GM will try and push these cars out for production sooner than expected? Or have the oil companies bought them off to keep fuelies? In a recent MT or R&T mag there was a GM ad in there that made a notion about hydrogen vehicles then had a "Shell" logo on the bottom of the page also (basically showed GM and Shell as partnering up on the Hydro thing). I remember reading a Popular Mechanics back some years ago about the Autonomy and that GM had set down with Exxon originally about the hydrogen idea and going in on setting up hydrogen stations, Exxon basically said that they weren't interested and didn't think that there would ev…

I need something that will carry kid surfboards (70 inches) while getting excellent fuel economy year round. I'm deciding between a Toyota Matrix with a stick (i like to shift myself) or the Maxx (no stick, but a serene drive experience instead). I don't have the inside scoop on GM's Epsilon strategy. Maybe they aren't making money on this one division bodystyle? Maybe the product planning people don't know what they're doing? Seems like Chevy has done this before (the Nova hatchback didn't last, the Citation…

We had a few new GM MFG cars in at work today. One was the 2010 Camaro SS it posted and one of the others was the 2010 Nox. The one I drove was a 4 cylinder LT2. Seating and the interior is great. It fit me fine and I felt comfortable as soon as I got in and set the seat. It is easy to see out of. THe dash lay out has a lot of things on it but they are well label and easy to find. The digital screens are wasy to read even in very bright sun. I did not know it has a digital spedo in the middle of the regular speedo and tach. While it is not heads up it is nice when you are used to HUD. Transmission shifts smooth. and is as good as the similar unit in the Malibu. …

I love the Supersonic Blue Metallic paint on the Corvette, but really wish they would offer it on the Camaro. Any insights if there are color changes for the upcoming 2013 Camaro? Anyone know if it would be possible to "special order" a new Camaro build with a factory color from another vehicle? I'd be willing to pay a bit extra. Prefer it from the factory as opposed to having it resprayed in a body shop down the road so they get all the jambs and engine bay correctly.

  82. Can't beleive it!! First I saw a Yukon factory test vehicle on the Hwy last Thursday and today I was driving getting ready to turn onto the Hwy and here comes a all white '07 Tahoe!! No tape, no camo... just like you'd see it on the showroom. I recognized it from a few hundred feet down the road. These new GMT-900's are distinctive. When I saw the Yukon last week I recognized the tail lights from a distance and it was starting to get dusk when I saw it. So this "it looks like an expedition" bs is just bs in my opinion. Maybe in pics on the internet but they are distinctive out on the road in person.

OK, first grab a Cobalt, COMPLETELY camoflauge the fact that it's a Chevy, i.e. like the spy vehicles, use like the vinyl wraps on the front grille, rear end, strip the badges from the steering wheel, use generic wheel covers at Tire Rack or Canadian Tire. Next, in the streets, stop people with Corollas and Civics. Particularly look for people who make negative comments about American cars, particularly. Do a brief interview with them, and record their phrases like: I LOVE my Corolla, it's like the best car you can get... blah blah blah.... Then, challenge them to test drive the s…

American Vehicle Sales specializes in the import and conversion of Chevrolet, GMC, Hummer & Cadillac SUV and Pickup vehicles. Here's a quick run down on the process they go through to convert a vehicle to RHD

Truck sales are up again and Cobalt sales that were booming are now sitting on dealer lots. If by chance the oil remains down due to deflation. Chevy then brings out the Volt at just under $50,000 Just who will buy them? Will it just be the Ed Begly Jr's of the world or a Politician trying to make a statment for his image. What would you order or select? Personally I would be having a hard time deciding on the ease of an automatic or fun of a manual. I have lots of hills in my town and because the SS with the automatic is said to get 0-60 in only 4.7 seconds (same an a manual) it would be even harder for me, plus 1 mpg better on the highway. Also with the tap shift that makes it even harder for me to pick one, but the same 0-60 doesn't add up since the L99 automatic cars have 26 less hp, anyone know what gives? Or is the new 6L80 that "performance style" of tranny? I would personally get a 1SS coupe with either a stick or auto, and maybe the RS package, if I got a 1SS without the RS packa…

Its a Corvette Z06 with a 7-liter engine that goes from 0 to 100 kilometers an hour (60 mph) in 3.9 seconds. The car costs about 120,000 Euro. It's a miracle nobody has been hurt. Also new for 2010, is the Camaro V6, known as the LS, 1LT or 2LT, depending on ho…
