Unique water-based ‘three-wet’ process cuts emissions on Chevrolet Sonic Link: http://www.egmcartech.com/2011/09/30/water-based-three-wet-paint-chevrolet-sonic/ General Motors has begun using a new eco-friendly paint technology on the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic. A “three-wet” paint is a water based process that takes out the drying step in between paint layers, so the vehicle only needs to go through the bake oven process once, at the end. Its not bad considering the 4000lbs of weight my V8 Oldsmobile is pulling along, not to mention the heavy air conditioning draw on another unseasonably humid Florida day combined with the extra-legal cruising speed. Yet as I proudly note my impressive fuel economy, I realize that if I were using the car I was driving to see, I would be averaging just north of 80mpg. And for nearly half of the 106-mile trip from Clearwater to Orlando, I wouldn't have been using gasoline at all. 10. 2010 Chevrolet Tacuma Link to Jalopnik As reported, this family hauler should be based on the Delta platform, which also underpins the Chevy Volt and Chevy Cruze. What will this new GM minivan be like? Similar in proportions to the Mazda5, this minivan will not be a reinterpretation of previous generations of GM minivans. Notice those rear doors? They look like they're hinged at the front. Rather than long and short, these two testers seem to follow the European model of a tall van with short overhangs. With murmurs this vehicle could be built alongside the Volt, are we looking at the first major hybrid-electric minivan?

Is the USPS getting them since they can run E85? Will the Uplander maybe continue past 2008, since there are very few affordable vans for fleet buyers? EDIT: I re-read the AutoWeek article which says 'into 2009', so look for more at your local PO. The white Uplanders have replaced the boxy UPS looking trucks in many PO districts. And seen a few contractors/utilities with them instead of full sized vans. Big question is, did Ford/GM make a big error thinking minivans with sliding doors are…

Typically, the exceptions to the rule are vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class or Nissan X-Trail – compact utility vehicles that are fuel efficient and priced in the lower end of their segments. Road personality is composed with a hint of sportiness. Comfort is high. Stupidity is low. An optional V-8 engine offers something the Japanese brands don't. A rich complement of standard features — head-curtain air bags, a trip computer, an iPod/MP3 plug, three sets of child-seat latches, OnStar telecommunications and emergency notification service — give Impala advantages over even some higher-price competitors. Staying off the highway and sticking with the back roads is the easiest way to see the higher mileage because of regenerative charge back to the battery during coasting and braking. This isn't always possible or practical or course, and I don't take the back roads just to extend the EV range. I still continue to drive in SPORT mode and have found it has not reduced my range. I'm also experimenting with driving in Low (in lieu of Drive). Some Volt owners on the Voltage site have indicated that driving in Low has exte…

As I mentioned last month, I've been driving in Low/SPORT and have reached a high of 51.7 miles in EV mode for one charge. I traveled 747 miles in May and used less than a gallon of gas (0.7). That's pretty darn good, and only 1% fewer than last year, when the Volt topped the survey as well. I don't get the attraction, but this has to be good for GM's public perception amongst the misguided.

I would actually be somewhat interested in a large RWD electric coupe. ;-) I'm sure someone will set me straight in less than an hour... thanks in advance.

The Stylish all-new Malibu will sell well. I predict it will rise to 250k sales annually from its current 175k. However, I believe this new Malibu could surpass 300k if Chevy did the following. First, I believe that the Malibu should be the lowest priced midsizer in GM's line-up. So, the Malibu LTZ must not surpass the Saturn Aura XR's $24,845 nor should the Malibu LS be priced above the Pontiac G6's Base model's $19,345 (Of course the G6's value model will need to be dropped). The LS & LT models come with a 4-speed automatic only and the LTZ model comes with a 6-speed automatic standard. So, How does this look? Malibu LS $17,845 Malibu LT $19,195 Malib…

For me I was about 11 years old when my brother Andy Brought home his 1967 rs ss Camaro ( 327 ) Hide aways and all. It was Gold with black interior. Just one look and I was done. Thats was 20 years ago and im still as awestruck when I see these cars. At 20 I found my Camaro. At the time i had a 69 it was 3 different colors but it had a worked 350 so I was happy. Any way I worked at a Deli here in Bellmore Long Island and the kid from the video store in the shopping center had a Black 69 Camaro ( 327 ) in real nice shape, anyway every night we wind up at the same stop light (due to the stores closing around the same time) I would taunt him every night. He would never race…

  73. I'm going to be getting a new 2007 Avalanche soon but can't really make a good decision what model to get. I like the LTZ with the 20" wheels but also like the practicality (and looks) of the cladding on my current model. Has anyone heard anything about the new Z71 Avalanche, and specifically, what kind of wheels, ground clearance, cladding and other features that it's going to have? Why can't GM at least release a simple list of features on the new Z71 Avalanche so that I at least know what I can expect. Instead of blindly awaiting a truck that may not even exist (having the features I've listed above).

I know we have seen a shorten Holden that could have been a Camaro Mule and we also know they are testing Camaro's in Austrailia or somewhere outside the States per the Fbodfather. Anyone have any clues on how or what the cars are rebodied as? We know the Camaro covered the C5 and A CTS and GTO have been used to make the Camaro mock up's. Have we any clues? The only new news we have had was the Movie and some toys. Chevy we need a little new news! Any way the mules have to be in plain sight somewhere but what are they. They should be well into testing and racking up miles on driveline parts and we know they are not just on test tracks. Intro time is not al…

Let's go down the list of 4-door sedans with 6-passenger seating STANDARD Ford Crown Victoria Lincoln Town Car Mercury Grand Marquis and the list of OPTIONAL 6-passenger seating Buick LaCrosse Buick Lucerne Cadillac DTS Chevrolet Impala So with the Crown Vic possibly going fleet only, a redesign in the mix for the GM and TC, and the fact that GM makes a front split bench optional, who will be left with a true 6-passenger full-size sedan that you don't have to pay extra, special order, or search dealer lots for weeks to find? And why did GM make a split front bench OPTIONAL on full-size cars? Isn't the whole point of buying a full-size car to get 6-pas…

If the 2006 Suburban rebates are $6000, and local dealers are offering double rebates, it means I can get a $36K truck for $24K and that sounds good to me. Problem is...there aren't any 2006's at those dealers. They advertise them, but don't have any. Does anyone know of a dealer with 2006 Suburbans in stock? Rebate on the 2007's is $2000, doubled to $4000, but that would put a payment out of our price range. A $24K truck, $4500 down, over 6 years at 10% is a $412 payment which we can handle ($400 would be better, $350 best). But a $32K truck, $4500 down, over 6 years at 10% is way out of budget. I guess maybe we need to look at a nice used 2004... How is the …

It seems to be pretty standard among the automakers who replace their cars regularly to do an MCE for the fourth model year and replace after the fifth. That is to say: Initial design model years: 2005, 6, 7 MCE design model years: 2008, 9 New generation: 2010, etc... The 2008 Cobalt is out and there is no sign of an MCE. Are we getting one for 2009? Or is GM leaving it to rot on the vine like the Cavalier?

Im thinking Spring Hill TN, because of the rumors over the summer that the next generation Ion would be built in Lordstown Ohio. the lansing crafte center because the SSR might get axed in the next two years. 87. A recent view of another thread (RE: redesigned shifter on the Caprice PPV), prompted me to write about a pet peeve of mine: why does GM insist on configuring its new cars with the headlight controls on the left hand stalk, while mounting wiper controls on the right hand stalk? As owners of a 2008 Impala LT, one of the main drawing factors to our car were the driving characteristics of the Impala, plus the familarity of the HVAC, stereo, and wiper controls. As design configurations become more standardized and generic, so too, do cars become more and more indistinguishable. I often hear that Ford & GM design their cars for a global market, hence the common designs…

I was looking over at Camaro5 site. I cannot beleive how many problems the new Camaros are having. I really figured since the General took so long to release it Quality would be at the top of the list. Sure new cars have problems but some of this stuff would really piss me off if it were my car. Leaking engines, transmissions, interior issues. body fit all kinds of noises etc. This is the last thing Chevy needs and I hope somebody is listening at GM before the general public finds out

But by GM doing away with Pontiac, it makes sense for other divisions to absorb the newer models of Pontiac, doesn't it?? My mother-in-law just bought a solstice gxp and mother of pearl does that thing haul butt!!! Wasn't that a Lutz deal?? He's a friggin' genius.

The day after General Motors unveiled the production version of the Chevrolet Volt plug-in electric car, Enwin Utilities and the City of Windsor announced they are laying the groundwork to create the infrastructure for the Volt and its competitors. As many as six plug-in hybrid electric vehicles from GM, Toyota, Nissan and possibly Chrysler are expected to be available for consumer purchase by early 2011. 97. Link to AutoBlog Talk about finding a good used car. Frank Orsenick bought his '91 Silverado in 1996. At the time, it had 41,000 miles on the clock. After 11 years of service (and a lot of driving), the old pickup is about to reach a milestone. Frank had the oil changed last week, just as he has every 3,000 miles since acquiring the Chevy, and it's sure to be the last one it receives as an everyday-use vehicle. You see, it's just 1,200 miles away from spinning past the 1,000,000-mark on the odometer. When it hits the big number, Frank is going to put his faithful ride into retirement. As for how he got this far, Orsenik credits regular maintenance and "a little luck." …

A Sports coupe that is in "Design and Test Stage", So the Camaro might be out of the question. Getting info was really hard since His/Her job might be at risk but, i got permission to say this from them. The Drive train is most likly a RWD to AWD. But FWD may be chossen. Power train will either be a V6 standard most likely the 3.9 i think that will push 250 HP. with optional I5 engine. But a "SS" or "GTP" Package. will have a V8 to push from 375 to 425 hp. If FWD is chossen a 310 horsepower 5.3 will most likey be a the engine. …

World Car Fans shows the '08 Malibu? | December 17, 2006 | YellowJacket894 Recently, World Car Fans released a chop of what they thought to be the next Opel Omega. However, whenever I looked at it, I felt something amiss. First off, the proportions were that of a front-drive car (I.E. Epsilon) instead of rear-drive (I.E. Zeta, which a new Omega would be based on). Second, many things matched up with spy shots I, and you as well, have seen of GM's break through mainstream product for 2007: the new 2008 Malibu. Things didn't add up. So, obviously, only one thing made sense to me: WCF used and enhanced images of Chevrolet's new 2008 Malibu to produce their Omega render…
