Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

I was on the U.S. Patent and Trademark website earlier ( http://www.uspto.gov ) and after Search Trademarks----->Advanced Search-----> and "GENERAL and MOTORS and CORPORATION and AUTOMOBILES", I saw AT1, BT3, CT6, DT7, and the like newly trademarked. I'm starting to think about the number portions here, being that these tentative new Caddys look like they'll finally be readjusted to take BMW head-on, and my theory is as follows: AT1-1-Series rival, thus the smallest (possibly most hated, at least among diehard traditionalists) Standard of the World! BT3-3-Series rival, probably sized more accordingly than CTS, which would be.... CT5-Current CTS and gang, already …

Jamie LaReau Automotive News June 23, 2008 - 12:01 am ET DETROIT — General Motors will unveil a Cadillac CTS wagon this fall in an effort to compete with BMW's 3 series and Mercedes C-class wagons. Cadillac intends to start production in 2009 for global sale. GM has shown a CTS coupe concept to be produced next year. Cadillac also plans to replace its current SRX crossover with a production version of the Provoq concept crossover as a 2010 model. The current SRX has suffered disappointing sales. Sources familiar with GM's plans say the re-engineered and restyled SRX will look similar to the Provoq, a hydrogen fuel cell concept. When the Provoq was shown in J…

New Cadillac Escalade shines By Anita Lienert WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One of the most critical moments in the redesign of the Cadillac Escalade happened three years ago when the General Motors premium brand rented a Hollywood film studio for an evening, set up a full bar and invited A-list celebrities, athletes and rappers to preview an early version of the 2007 model. Oscar winner Adrien Brody -- who will soon take delivery of a 2007 Escalade EXT -- and the rest of the glittering crowd said they loved the new Escalade's added chrome and the exterior details borrowed from the legendary Cadillac Sixteen show car. But they also had a warning: The 20-inch wheels, the biggest…

1. The power running borads on the Escalade are AWSOME. 2. White Diamond is STILL the best color for a Cadillac. 3. the GMT-900s 22" wheels make the disk brakes looks small. 4. Interior wise, there is NO doubt in my mind Cadillac deserves an A+ 5. 2008 STS looks great, & the 2005-2007 has aged well. 6. The DTS needs to be replaced... like yesterday. 7. I hope the rumors of the SRX's demise are wrong!

After some time away from the GM family, I have returned via the purchase of a 2013 Cadillac ATS: - 3.6L "Luxury" trim - Sunroof - Navigation - Silver Coast exterior - Caramel / Jet black combo interior I've only had it for about 28 hours, so I'm learning and exploring. Great dealer experience at Sewell Cadillac in Houston, TX...and added bonuses from GM Card membership, card earnings.

Wow, on my trip to the auto show sunday january 15th, I saw The 2007 Cadillac Escalade driving on the highway oppsite side of us heading in the other direction!!! It was a dark blue color, and had smaller rims than the huge 22's but they were still chrome. I was obviously very excited, but was expecting to see a at least a few tahoes driving around, but never a new escalade! But things only got better! As my friend and I went outside the show to take a break and head over to Subway to get lunch, I was crossing the road and I saw A pewter 2007 Yukon! It was very Niiice, and the Head and Taillights look alot larger than in pics, but i was confused because there was a b…

Cadillac SRX Test date 24 January 2007 Price when new £29,895 What's new? Cadillac was uncharacteristically quick to the seven-seat crossover market. Its SRX was among the first examples of the species to go on sale in the UK back in late 2005. However, until now it's only been available in left-hand-drive form; as of March, you'll be able to get a proper right-hooker, and that's not the only improvement. What's it like? Firstly, huge advances have been made with the SRX in the quality of its cabin. Its fascia is now much more appealing to the eye and, covered in carefully-stitched leather and soft-touch plastics, it also feels better than almost any America…

From Edmunds Inside line... http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/category/cat.SpyPhotos "Our previous spy photos of the 2008 Cadillac CTS confirmed most of the exterior styling cues first shown on 60 Minutes. Now our spy shooters have captured the first glimpse of a prototype CTS interior. You can't see much, but the few details which are visible confirm that the interior mock up shown on the 60 Minutes broadcast was in fact the cabin of the CTS." It looks basically the same as the concept interior on 60 Minutes. that's a GOOD thing! The line in the upper dash, around the top of the centre stack, makes me wonder if something pops up (Nav screen when in use? otherwi…

This is simply an idea I got from the Audi A7 spyshots (CLS fighter) and is not based on any information about the NG STS itself. This is simply a proposal I would make if I worked within GM. Anyways... Why not make the STS a CLS/A7 "4-door coupe" type vehicle? The next CTS is growing and moving upscale, which would tell me that with a mid-level (non V-Series) V8, it would be a formidable 5-Series and E-Class, etc., competitor. Now, that is the market segment the current STS competes in, and I don't see a need for Cadillac to compete with two cars in one market segment. The BLS will be coming to fill the lower-end of the market that the CTS will be leaving, but that d…

An improved version of the 2016 Cadillac ELR plug-in hybrid is in the works, Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell confirmed for Edmunds on Monday. The 2016 ELR is expected to debut in November at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show. Changes include "engineering enhancements," Caldwell said. He would not provide details on the changes. Car shoppers should expect to see the revised ELR, which was all-new for the 2014 model year, at dealerships in the first half of next year. The changes are designed to make the ELR more competitive against a growing list of rivals, including the BMW i3, Porsche Panamera SE Hybrid and Tesla Model S. The ELR is a premium version of the Chevrolet V…

No more "Rock and Roll" Cadillac to drop Zeppelin song for new ad campaign By JAMIE LAREAU | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 07/17/06, 8:33 am et DETROIT -- General Motors is breaking from its "Break Through" Cadillac campaign and dropping Led Zeppelin's song "Rock and Roll" as its soundtrack. Perhaps GM figures their enthusiast customers will order their Cadillac XTS(?) with an upcoming DOHC V12? Did they discover a way to bring one of their pushrod V8s noise, vibration and harshness levels down to where the next Northstar would have been? If so will this be offered as the base motor for the XTS or will it be the DI V6? If the V6 is the base motor and they do introduce a V12 will they offer a LS V8? Will the V12 with Active Fuel Management get close enough to a V8's fuel economy to make offering it wasteful? What do you guys think?

Okay, so I have had my new CTS for a few days (sorry, no new pictures yet) and I can make some general observations about the car: 1. If you are sport inclined, get the FE3 package. Don't be afraid of what some (MotorWeek) say about it being too rough as it isn't. Yes, it is fairly taut, roughly equivalent to the V-Series and a just a tad bit stiffer than the first year 03 CTS's sport suspension (though quite a bit stiffer than the 04 and later sport suspension, which I felt was overly soft). However, it is almost never harsh or jarring and is, IMHO, a fabulous balance between imparting luxury and still being seriously aggressive. It easily trumps the BMW 5 series sport…

Okay so I was watching GMtv, the drivetime show. It was their Sept. 22nd episode and during an interview with one of the GM employees, I noticed a picture behind her of what appeared to be some type of Cadillac. I went on cadillac.com and it doesnt look like anything there. Furthermore, it looks somewhat like a truck. Hmm.......well take a look for yourselves. It is on the left side of the lady's head. Also, I had to take a digital photo of the computer screen, because screen shots wont work with movies or something. Finally, I know this is probably not it, but it is worth a shot in any case. Who knows.

Omega Likely To Be Approved For Cadillac Flagship, More Hybrids William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com September 1, 2011 In a report from the The Detroit Bureau, GM is expected to give the green light for the new Omega platform for a new Cadillac flagship. The news comes a few days after GM showed off the Cadillac Ciel concept at Pebble Beach and received much acclaim. The report says a sedan and a hard-top are in the works. No one is saying when the vehicle is expected to come out, but signs are pointing towards 2015. But that's not all. Cadillac is making it clear they will be offering a range of hybrid vehicles, starting with the new ELR.…

The Penalty of Leadership "In every field of human endeavor, he that is first must perpetually live in the white light of publicity. Whether the leadership be vested in a man or in a manufactured product, emulation and envy are ever at work. General Motors’ prestige luxury brand, Cadillac, is in the process of a well-known transformation, laying down a solid foundation for growth well into the future. And despite declining sales volume, Cadillac is reaping (some of) the fruits from its labor by seeing an increase in average transaction prices. The average transaction price (ATP) for Cadillacs sold in June in the U.S. market topped $52,000, a $7,000 — or 15 percent — increase over the same period a year ago. The brand attributes the increase to ongoing product enhancements that are “transforming the brand and elevating its position in the luxury marketplace”. “Our goals are to improve the quality of the busi…

Cadillac has a legitimate contender on its hands with the CTS. The luxury sedan is selling pretty well considering the down market, and it will soon be joined by wagon and coupe variants in the not too distant future. Beyond the CTS, though, Cadillac's car offerings have been less successful. According to The Detroit Bureau, Cadillac is hoping to improve its standing by bookending the CTS with a smaller BMW 3-Series fighter and an all-new flagship. The website quotes Cadillac Marketing Chief Steve Shannon as saying that a sub-CTS is 24-30 months away. Cadillac designers are evidently working on sedan, hatchback, wagon, and convertible variants, although it is unclear wh…

Despite this, General Motors has decided to pull Cadillac from nearly half of the 25 European markets (not including the U.K. or Russia) in which it currently sells. Along with Cadillac, the HUMMER and Corvette brands will also be affected. The problem isn't directly GM's fault, as the automaker relies on a Dutch-based third-party company called Kroymans Import Europe to distribute these brands across the Atlantic. Due to slow sales caused by the global economic downturn, Kroymans has found itself with an "acute liquidity short…

Cadillac Ready for Right-Hand Drive CTS Production By Herb Shuldiner | Link to Original Article @ Wards Auto | Sep 26, 2007 9:17 AM NEW YORK – The strike late Monday morning by the United Auto Workers union is putting a crimp in General Motors Corp. plans to launch right-hand-drive Cadillac CTS production for export markets. The union called a nationwide strike at GM plants after it failed to reach a new contract with the auto maker in time to meet a self-imposed 11 a.m. deadline Monday. RHD versions of the new CTS, revamped for ’08, were to begin rolling down the line at GM’s Lansing, MI, assembly plant this week. Among markets slated to get the RHD models are Au…

[source: Road and Track] Comparison Test: 2009 Cadillac CTS-V vs. 2010 Jaguar XFR Different wrappers, same creamy filling: a supercharged V-8 and rear drive. When a Cadillac CTS-V and the brand-new Jaguar XFR arrived at our offices, it was obvious a proper road trip was in order. But not just any old road trip would do. We needed to take these two pinnacles of sports-sedan-dom on an epic adventure, somewhere they could stretch their really long legs. After all, the CTS-V and XFR pack some serious heat, armed with 500-plus-bhp supercharged V-8s, suitably stiffened and electronically adjustable suspension systems, big brakes, limited…

A new report from Autoblog says Cadillac is planning on premiering their flagship sedan, possibly named LTS, at next year's New York Auto Show. A source at the company says the brand is preparing their competitor to the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, and Mercedes-Benz S-Class to be shown at New York. The source dismisses the current XTS as a placeholder, and not a "real" Cadillac. The source admits that the new S-Class is a tough competitor to upcoming model. Sadly, no information on powertrains or other key details were revealed. Source: Autoblog William Maley is a staff writer for Cheers & Gears. Rumorpile: GM Resurrects The Cadillac Converj William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 11, 2011 The Cadillac Converj concept received many acclaims when it was shown at the 2009 North American International Auto Show, which caused GM to pursue development a few months later. However the Converj project was given the ax in 2010 due to two reasons: GM couldn't make a profit on the small volume of Converjs being built and the worry of the of enginners the range and performance of the electric powertrain. However, a source close to project at GM says the project has been revived. The source says executives at GM gave the project a green li…

We got one this AM. It's a white diamond CTS4 with AWD. LOW-DEAD! Just under $49K. And guess who was the first salesman to test drive it? Too bad my customer did not like the $718 lease payment. Looks like he'll be driving his 2004 Audi A4 for a while longer.

Many of you might remember the VERY heated debate that took place between Croc and I back when the Escalade made it's debut in which I argued vehemently against the new 'slade stating that I thought it had lost the "IT" factor. In that debate Croc said that I often end up eating crow because of my stubborn and unwaivering opinions. So I'm here today to be a good sport and say serve up the crow because I looked at a new Escalade in the flesh today for the first time. All I have to say is; WOW! I was very impressed and encouraged by the new Tahoe. I am equally impressed and encouraged by the new Yukon (Which while VERY nice is a little too feminine for me---NOT a bad th…

To keep the long story short, the GM has a new 3.6 liter V6. It's called the LFX. It'll be used in the Camaro, the CTS and everything else that currently use the 3.6 DI V6. It makes 318~323 hp / 275~278 lb-ft. As is desirable for a across the board engine, it runs on 87 Octane with 11.3:1 compression. The question is whether Cadillac should get a "Premium" version of this powerplant. Premium as in "Premium" performance as well as "Premium" fuel. Going to 91 Octane will enable the compression ratio to go up about a point to about 12.3:1 with higher compression pistons, this alone should bump output by about 7~8% which will take you to about 340hp horses. With some minor c…

LT5 Premium V8 (hypothetical) The LT1 is a more than competitive engine for the Corvette and other GM vehicles. But, certain feature decisions pertaining to the LT1 were made to strike an optimal balance between costs and benefitsfor a wide array of applications – decisions which may or may not be optimal for Luxury Performance cars which are less price sensitive. Should a premium version of the LT1 be developed – every much like the LS6 was the to LS2 and the LS7 was to the LS3? Such an engine may fit well into the Cadillac lineup. Features Added over LT1 104.8 mm bore x 102 mm stroke (7.0 liters displacement) Cam-in-cam independent intake & exhaust VVT 2-sta…

Test Drive: 2016 Cadillac ATS-V takes on the BMW M3by Horatiu Boeriu When Cadillac unveiled the ATS-V at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the automotive world was eager to see how it fares against the new BMW M3 and M4. After all, the ATS-V used the almighty E90/E92 M3 as a benchmark in order to build a sports car that doesn’t have to compromise between driving on the road and on the track. To see how the ATS-V stacks up against the F80 M3 and F82 M4, we headed to Road America race track in Wisconsin, with a pit stop in Milwaukee for some back-roads driving. Before jumping in the car, we spent some time with Cadillac’s folks to learn more about the development of the ATS-V T…

I drove through some car lots this weekend, and whilst driving through the Cadillac lot I noticed something that's rather alarming to me... there were probably 6 CTSs in my dealer's lot (smallish dealer), and not one of them had fog lights. Instead, all of them had the cheesy black plastic inserts. And, we're not talking about the "cheap" sub-$40k CTSs either, all of them were over $40k, and only one was less that $44k. GM is touting a $44k car to take on the world's best sports sedans that has no fog lights. Way to scream "CHEAP" GM! Even your best products have major flaws such as this. While the car doesn't look bad the combination of no fog lights and dinky wheels m…

We’ve just got the latest spy photos of the up-and-coming Cadillac BRX crossover, and it looks like we were right - the resemblance between this future luxury sport-utility and the recent Provoq concept are uncanny. So how’s this a Caddy and not a Chevy (Equinox)? We’re seeing a character line down the side of the prototype that starts high at the C-pillar, and runs lower as it progresses towards the front fenders. Also notice the window line that’s outlined in chrome; a similar treatment adorns the new CTS‘ window frames as well. Headlamps appear to be stacked in Cadillac’s “new traditional” style; likewise, we can somewhat see a very sharp edge for the taillamps - ano…

Spy Shots: ’08 Cadillac STS A slimmer face for a sleek Euro beater. by KGP Photography (2006-03-23) The Cadillac STS has a facelift in the works, likely for the 2008 model year. The big four-door gets a new, Escalade-inspired grille treatment, with a more detailed chrome treatment and a subdued mesh grille. The STS's new face looks much lighter and more expressive than the current model's - a subtle but effective update. New taillights ditch the full red lenses, in favor of styled LED lamps that complement the STS's chiseled lines. The clear lenses have only a sliver of red reflector at the inside edges, but separate vertical LED strips glow red (braking) or orange (tu…

The coming Cadillac CTS Coupe has been photographed almost naked, and as with the new Camaro, it is remarkably true to the concept. While this version in white is said to be a vanilla V6 sample, the CTS Coupe should be hot enough to effectively replace the outgoing XLR as the Caddy with the mostest when it's given some wheels large enough to match the body's presence. As for the timeline, the Coupe remains on schedule to arrive next year, preceded by the CTS Sportwagon, which will arrive this June. Hat tip to Matthew! Autoblog Autoweek's Spyshot Gallery

Wide-body Cadillac CTS-V could debut for 2007 By Ed Hellwig Email Date posted: 02-16-2006 The current Cadillac CTS-V isn't the BMW M5 killer General Motors hoped it would be. With the introduction of the more powerful 2006 M5, the CTS-V is 100 hp off the mark. Add in its lame interior and its vague steering and the Caddy's $50,000 price doesn't look like such a bargain. We know a full-blown redesign of the CTS is already a done deal, but our latest spy photos show a prototype that hints at the possibility of a midcycle upgrade for the CTS-V. Caught testing at GM's Milford proving grounds, this prototype wears extended bodywork from nose to tail similar to Cadillac'…

SPY SHOTS! Cadillac CTS Diesel Spotted Undergoing Testing Link to Original Article @ World Car Fans No, this isn't a half clapped-out Cadillac CTS. Infact, it's a new diesel version of the CTS undergoing testing on European soil. The oil-burning CTS is being tested on the European continent due to its abundance of engineers with experience of diesel technology and has been thought up to tackle the increasing diesel-powered segment in the States, as well as to offer a viable alternative to petrol CTS models in world markets. Our source suggests that the 1.9-litre turbodiesel unit used in the BLS is likely not to make the Stateside CTS line-up, with the introduction of …
