There is an 86 or 87 T-Type Regal sitting outside of my work. It has been there for 3 weeks or so. I don't know what is going on with it but I keep on telling the service manager not to junk it. It is quite nice but needs a little TLC. It is a T-Type because it is engraved into the dash. It also has the hood bulge and the Grand National rims. How much are these worth now when restored and would they be worth restoring? HERE ARE THE PICTURES FINALLY. Sorry about the focus. I was rushing so I wouldn't be late to work.

Considering the economic realities of the day, What would you guys think of this plan: 1) My wagon is nearly complete mechanically, and I had intended to do The Mothertruck ('88 crew cab 4x4) next. 2) The Mothertruck has a brand-new 4-bolt main GM engine with only 2 miles on it currently installed and needs mostly paint and bodywork to finish it. 3) I have been planning to use a new Ramjet 350 crate engine in my Camino, but that would cost me as much or more than finishing the entire truck would - in addition to the rest of the restoration the Camino will be getting. So, I am thinking that maybe I should just use the EFI 350 from the truck in the Camino and sell …

Once my toys are gone I'll be needing something other than my Silverado to drive. I'm leaning toward a wagon (dog transporter) but I'd like it to be fun in one way or another. So, wrack your brains and post your suggestions (with a pic if possible) No, 68, that doesn't mean an entire catalog-just one pic. :AH-HA_wink: Remember, I have dial-up. Have fun with this thread, but be serious once in a while too. Jokes allowed but real suggestions appreciated. Now go to it C&G!

Today it was announced by the owner of our dealership... a mandatory 10% pay cut for all employees, in a belt-tightening move. Morale has taken a nosedive. I figure I will lose income very near the amount of my truck payment per month. Our sales are down 30% from last year. It ain't looking good. I am considering dropping my gym membership (only $15/mo) and my land line telephone... along with selling my truck, for real, among other things, just to keep going. If this pay reduction doesn't save enough money for the company, what happens next scares me. I hope Wall Street speculators are happy, driving fuel prices through the roof this summer. The ripple effect of …

I've become somewhat of a YouTube addict recently, so I thought I would create a thread (Much like the "What Are You Listening To" thread) where we could post cool and random stuff from YouTube. Here are a few of my favs. (Most of these will be heavy metal related because that's what kick I'm on right now) But I'd like to see a variety of cool things. The 1930 metal eating bird is kind of what inspired the topic. WARNING: virtually all of the metal vids contain profane language, so be prepared. MOSH PITS: 1) This is DevilDriver, one of my favorite bands, at the Download festival in 2007. What's significant is the size of the "circle pit" (Mosh pit where every…

Let me just say. F-U-C-K. Since that is out of the way, here's the story. Myself, Dallas, and my brother Zack decided to hit up NYC for a day. We left around 3 am to be there early and give us as much time possible. Pa was a breeze. NJ was until halfway through. After that it was traffic, traffic, and more traffic. Lots of bumper to bumper with random bursts of moving. Mostly stationary with a bit of 2 mph for a good hour. Things started to speed up again right before I-280 started. A little lane changing to get through traffic quicker and then we merged onto 280. Not long after that we came to another halt. Sped up again... and then suddenly the cars in front of me sto…

I cut up a potato tonight into french fries. I patted it dry with paper towels while I heated up some Smart Balance oil (a mix of canola, soybean and olive oils). When the oil shimmered in the pan on medium heat, I threw them in. When they appeared nice and brown, I took them out and drained them on more paper towels. For the first few seconds, they were stiff and crispy, but they quickly got limp. I hate limp fries. Can anyone tell me how to make a homemade french fry that is crispy? Thanks in advance.

I'm just going to say it. The US needs to "grow a pair" on so many fronts, or just start to fade away into the mists of history. I'm tired of all the screwing around with BS and minutae, let's actually do something meaningful for a change. Grrr. And ,hey, let's act as a nation for once instead of a bunch of shallow bastards that can't see beyond the end of their own noses.

PA wants to follow in California's foot steps and require stricter laws on emissions. I say nay. It's not like we have a crap load of cars here most of this state is populated by people on buggies. WTF? "The cost of the vehicle might go up, but it will be benefical at the gas pump." BullSh*t! "We would have to make the cars smaller, with less horsepower. The more expensive cars would be that much harder to sell." Exactly I understand highly populated states should work on this, but we aint one of them. The most of the polution would be from the major cities or someone from Jersey. And as far as cost. I find it interested that there are no mentions as to what ex…

Okay so for the past 4 years I've been driving 2/3 used cars of varying degrees at a time. Other than my Datsun the one commonality was they were all GM. From my 87 Fleetwood Brougham to my 83 Firebird, and from my 90 Suburban to my 86 Fleetwood Brougham.... lots and lots of buying and selling and I love it that way. Marcia had her STS for a daily driver but I wanted an all RWD fleet for myself. I did not need or want a modern car. I was happy having three cars that averaged out to over quarter of a century old. My Camaro was the toy muscle car, the Fleet- wood Brougham was my cushy daily driver/family car/baby limousine & the Datsun was for racking up …

Got caught in rain twice...took a clouburst before I put the top up. Went to a couple of Junkyards that have old cars, I have pics if I can figure out how to post them. Foun…

Upon checking out a few Lucernes, I finally began to realize something. My Millenia rocks. Now, first off, let's ignore the obvious.. The Lucerne is a much bigger car, so things related to that, are not being compared. Also, being that my Millenia is not a top of the line model, but loaded otherwise. I compared it to a Lucerne that also wasn't top of the line, but loaded as well. Essentially the best you can get without the Northstar V8, the V6 CXL. Back in the day, my Millenia had an MSRP of $28,895 while the MSRP of a Lucerne CXL V6 is $29,280. A Millenia is similar in size to large Buicks of 1995, but still just midsize. Millenias were first built back in 93 as 94 m…

Chinese Police Get In Hot Water With Mercedes ML Police Car William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com July 10, 2011 In the your not fooling anyone file, a police department in Fangchenggang (part of Guangxi Province)bought a new Mercedes Benz ML350 SUV to be used a police car. The police department spent about 900,000 yuan ($139,000 USD)to get it into their fleet. To fool the citizens of Fangchenggang, the department decided to rebadge the ML350 into a Honda CR-V which only costs about 200,000 yuan ($30,000 or so). The plan was foolproof or so they thought. The citizens of Fengchenggang were not impressed with the rebadge job and ridiculed the …

It's 11:00pm & by 3:45am I'll be preloading UPS trucks so I'll make this juat a quick synopsis for now: XP715 bought a 1977 Cadillac off of me last May, as you probably already know. But after having owned 40+ cars in my 12+ years since I turned driving age the Banana Boat remained the biggest case of "t…

I am an honest man. I lied to my father. As some of you know, I like to go camping at a particular campground in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. It's a gay/lesbian campground, and further, it is clothing optional. I go two or three times a season. Without being too specific, over the last four years I've been going I've been telling my parents (seperately, they're divorced) that I've been going "camping upstate"... which sufficed... until my dad mentioned one day that he delivers tires (he retired from Armstrong floor company after 41 years and now drives a pickup truck, delivering tires for a local merchant) to a customer in the same town. I spoke up and said…

Okay, so I thought I was going insane before... but now I've done it: I want a 3/4 foreign car. Used, of course. I hate the Bronco. It gets the worst gas mileage I could ever have a nightmare and dream of, it runs like $h!, doesn't want to crank over in the cold (and I'm not buying a new battery), and has other issues too. So, come spring, I'm going to fix it up as much and as quick as I can and put it on the block for sale. Hopefully I'll make a little cash off of it and save a little for my NEXT winter car... I'm thinking about a DSM. That's right, I said it. A '95-99 Eclipse GS-T or GSX with a 5 speed. Something that will get better gas mileage (es…

Maybe some of you guys don't wear any, but I do. I don't wear enough that you can smell me coming a mile away (you have to get pretty close), but I've gotten many compliments: all from female co-workers. When I was young, my favorite was Christian Dior's Eau Sauvage. I usually like light, citrus scents like Annick Goutal's Eau de Hadrien or Eau du Sud, which are primarily lemon and grapefruit. I switch in cooler weather to Index's Cucumber Baie and Pomegranite Anise. Lately, I've been wearing Serge Lutens' Borneo 1834, which is patchouli and cocoa, and his Chene, which is cedar, oak and thyme. If you like wearing cologne, I suggest you seek out the Index line by Fre…

My daughter will start driving this year and going off to some university in two years. Mrs. PCS is starting to have empty nest issues and keeps whispering in my ear it's not to late to have one more. She is hard to resist once she has her mind set on something. I'm 38 so I would be 56 by the time the next one would be going off to college. So I guess my question is are there any older dads out there and if there are, looking back would you have had another child again, knowing what you know now? Have gas prices already started affecting used SUV/Truck pricing? March 6th 2011 - Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com According to GasBuddy.com, the national average for gasoline has spiked from $3.12 per gallon to $3.49 per gallon between February 16th and March 6th. As some of you know, I keep an eye on prices for used Chevrolet Avalanches and Oldsmobile Bravadas. I am already noticing a drop in pricing on just these two models. For example, an '05 Avalanche with 63,000 miles and leather near me has an asking price of just $17,999. Six months ago, an Avalanche with that equipment would be over $20k used. Higher mileage examples have fallen from the $17k range to …

Here are a few notes to customers of cellular providers of the great ol' US of A. I will edit/change these as necessary as I find a means to vent here every night instead of the bottom of a Bud Light bottle. 1) If Customer Service tells you something, it's probably not true at all. 2). If Customer Service directs you to your local carriers store for an insurance claim, its NEVER true. 3) Just because Customer Service tells you that you are eligible for instant savings on a new handset at your nearest local store, chances are you infact are not eligible for SHIT! 4) Do not take it out on us poor reps, as we are not the people that make sensative policy decisio…

Since no one has given me a straight answer in other threads I'll make a thread just for the question. Someone please tell me how a FWD Impala is anymore efficient than a RWD? Is is it cost effective if a new FWD platform must be engineered for it, unless they place to use the G-Bodies or bring the W-Bodies back for yet another round? All I know is the cancellation the Impala really irritates me, far more so than any other things I've heard recently, including Chinese Dodge subcompacts. Unless someone can come with a good explanation, the only reason I think that it was canceled, and I'm sure others feel the same way, is because of the pricks inside GM that are deads…

I swung by the Kia dealer to take a peak at that new Optima they got. In a word, I was impressed. I'm still wary of the reliability and mechanical bits, but the styling is striking and the interior design and materials are on par with the competition. I didn't test drive it because I'm going to wait til late April to compare it to the new '12 Civic Si sedan and others, but I sat in it and examined the interior material choices. It's definitely on my test drive list now. Must be that new Audi lead designer they nabbed. My main gripe is that the 6MT is ONLY available on the base model with no options or packages (par for the course with these midsize sedans). But on the b…

My dad's getting rid of his 2008 Infiniti M35x in favor of a 2010 Chevy Malibu 2LT. The reason for the change is really it had gotten difficult for him to drive a car all the time and he's taking over his wife's SUV (2008 Mercury Mariner)...and his wife found the Infiniti to be "too fancy" and wouldn't drive it. So *really* this will be his wife's car (and she used to have an Aveo), but I'm still happy I was able to talk him into a Malibu as I really hated the Subaru Legacy GT which was their other choice. One of my friends is buying the Inifiniti for his wife. And yes, I did use guilt and "as a taxpayer, you own part of GM" to squash the Subaru deal...finding a buye…

While helping a friend look for a new car I made sure to hope over to Consumer Guide for their comments and ratings. I was surprised by the car not getting a "Best Buy" rating because the score was so high. Upon closer review I found: 1. The Chevrolet Cruze showed an average of 29.2 mpg during the test cycle which gave it a score of 6, whereas the honda civic, which got 26.1 to 28.5 mpg, got a 7-8, and the mazda mazda3 which averaged 19.6 to 30.7 mpg got a 5-8. 2. The Chevrolet Cruze got a higher or equal overall score of 67-68 as compared to the honda civic (61-65), toyota corolla (55), mazda mazda3 (62-69), and VW Jetta (64-73) yet was not named a Best Buy like th…

NEW YORK — The makers of high fructose corn syrup want to sweeten up its image with a new name: corn sugar. The bid to rename the sweetener by the Corn Refiners Association comes as Americans' concerns about health and obesity have sent consumption of high fructose corn syrup, used in soft drinks but also in bread, cereal and other foods, to a 20-year low. The group applied Tuesday to the Food and Drug Administration to get the "corn sugar" name approved for use on food labels. They hope a new name will ease confusion about about the sweetener. Some people think it is more harmful or more likely to make them obese than sugar, perceptions for which there is little scient…

ok, was channel flipping they had Dirty Dancing on sat tonight. got stuck on it...again I don't care if this is THE quintissential chick flick....I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Ok, maybe it's the second bottle of wine tonight. Two nights in a row, drinking at home. I'm on board with this. All you guy guys say what you want about Patrick Swayze.... that Jennifer Grey, I'd bust that. Damn. Not just once. But maybe a couple 2-3 hundred times. Vastly underrated she was. It's a shame the face didn't match the bod. Then, when she tried to fix it, she went too far and 'bye bye career'. So anyways, the movie itself. Great soundtrack. One of those 'period' movies and 'c…

I thought we had a thread on this, but apparently not. Ok, its Saturday night, you're pretty well smashed, the bar has karaoke. What song do you do? For me its Bad Romance or Party in the U.S.A. For some reason I rock those in the most awkward way. Last time the wife got brave and we did My Humps. Well, I rocked the will.i.am parts while she drunkenly stumbled through Fergie's lines.

I don't like: That dead fluffy animal carcass on his head that he tries to pass for hair. The way he thinks he can act on television, but its very obvious that he can't. The way his mouth moves when he speaks (See above) makes me wanna deck him right in the mouth. His grating, wheezy, irritating voice. The poster boy for everything wrong with corporate America How many times has he been married again? He's a phucking philanderer (see above. his new wife better keep some serious tabs on him) Did I mention that annoying way his mouth moves when he tries to act and speak at he same time? GAWD I wanna deck that bastard.

The internet is a vast and interesting place, a new frontier in and of itself with plenty of dark and obscure corners begging to be explored. Some take some digging to reach, others can be stumbled upon simply by running a Google search for whatever trivial topic pops into your mind. The following sketches of a few interesting GM cars and concepts were found using the latter method. These designs were all done by industrial designer Jess Bailie, who was the lead designer for the Buick Verano at GM. He also played a major role in influencing the design of the upcoming Buick Encore/Opel Mokka, as well as the Cadillac XTS and Hummer HX concept vehicles. The following images…

BLACKSBURG, Va. - At least 22 people were killed Monday in a shooting rampage on the Virginia Tech campus, police said. They said the gunman was among the dead. In addition to those killed, officials said at least 28 people were wounded. Virginia Tech Police Chief Wendell Flinchum said the gunman was dead, but that he didn't know how he died. "Today the university was struck with a tragedy that we consider of monumental proportions," said university President Charles Steger. "The university is shocked and indeed horrified." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18134671/ Just senseless!!!

Well, I finally found what I’ve been looking for, in my price range. This past Saturday I picked up a 2016 Lincoln MKC. 37,460 miles, $21,000, 2.3T engine with AWD. Upgraded real leather seats in dark brown and cream that I absolutely love. It had auto-high beams that I was skeptical about how well they flip off then back on and they’re surprisingly fantastic. As soon as any headlights show up in front of my they flip off, be it just over a hill or a mile ahead of me. Neat. Classic Ford, I already have to hit up my local dealership because the exterior thermostat is reading waaaay off(like -35F) therefor also throwing off the temp thst throws out the HVAC. It’s stil…

@A Horse With No Name gave me a challenge. Here it is! For July 4 Celebrations!!! Rules: 1. Pick a brand. Just 1 brand. A pure red blooded AMERICAN brand. Be it Ford or Chevrolet. Or Dodge. 10 cars any era, any concepts, anything from that brand. 2. No corporate sister brands are allowed. 3. These are your garage queen, museum grade show cars and/or Sunday drivers and/or daily drivers. 4. Have fun!

Tell me what that one political issue is that is near and dear to your heart. The one that would get you involved enough to support a candidate on that issue alone. Remember just pick your main one. For me it's Illegal Immigration. Shut down the Southern border of the USA, and I don't care if you have to put a Berlin style wall up manned with soldiers, with orders to Shoot to Kill. Come in the legal way, no problem! Sneak across the border, well then you take your chances with the wall and the guns.

The Truth About Cars TWAT Awards 10. Chevrolet Aveo “Chevy likes to tout the Aveo as the “lowest-priced [new] car in America” and in spite of their warning “content may vary,” it’s easy to see how they achieved that goal. From the hollow-sounding doors, bargain-basement plastics and skinny tires to the coarse-sounding engine that strains when faced with even the slightest incline, it exudes “cheap” from every ounce of its being. The Aveo also refutes the smart shopper’s mantra “you get what you pay for.” In the case of this captive Korean import, you pay little and get even less.“ 9. Lincoln Mark LT “Lincoln’s badge engineered Ford F-150 is an unholy degradation of t…

Hapiness is driving a 1964 Oldsmobile down Rt.4 in Lexington Mass in early October with the fall colors whizzing by... A big, proud, sharp-dressed boat of a car in a sea of Toyotas & Hondas. Cheap cigar in one hand & a thin sky blue steering wheel in the other. All four windows down for that panoramic window look and Gordon Lightfoot coming in crystal clear over a 42 year old AM radio set to "MUSIC" mode. Certain aspects of my life are a cluster-f%$k right now but at least Marcia and I are in love again and the job is going well. How's everyone else?

So I just found out that Brittany's been cheating on her boyfriend with me and I didn't know it until I messaged the dude on myspace about a half hour ago. She said they were really good friends and then he told me to call him because he had to find out what was going on. Come to find out they've been going out for 8 months and she's been with him everytime she says she's going to the mall or something. I'm so sick to my stomach. She was everything I could've asked for and more. WTF?!

I thought I was seeing things, at first. but there it was. So I did a little research ala Google and found this. Check under - Features and design to see about the Blazer dash. Those that have been around a while will remember everything I did to try and kill Roach I, non of which actually killed the cars (Roach I had over 390,000 miles on original engine & trans). I want Roach III to go away and the only way it will is if it has a major mechanical breakdown. Does anybody have ideas on what I can do to cause this to happen without my wife knowing? For the record, I've tried to the following to one or all three Roaches and NONE of them even hesitated to keep running. 1. Jumped off the ground and landed extra hard on frame 2. Put in reverse at full highway speed 3. Used one gallon of water for 10 gallons of gas 4. Pushed down high…

On October 1, the Pentagon, for the first time ever, dedicated an Army force specifically to NorthCom, which is in charge of securing not some foreign region but the United States of America. The Pentagon’s decision to dedicate the First Brigade Combat Team to NorthCom has raised alarms, especially in the context of the current economic crisis. In Bush’s National Security Presidential Directive 51, he lays out his authority in the event of a catastrophic emergency. In such an emergency, “the President shall lead the activities of the Federal Government for ensuring constitutional government” and will coordinate with state, local, and tribal governments, along with priva…

Hey...there is this guy I work with that I HATE. He needs to retire. He spends waaaaaaaaayyyy too much time looking at what I do...and I don't mean work-wise. I mentioned that I had to do something (personal) in a couple of weeks. He then says that he noticed it on my Outlook. I don't look at anybody's Outlook (especially into the future), unless I'm trying to get a few people into a meeting, or set aside a conference room. Why the hell is he looking at my Outlook in the future? I don't give a rat's ass what anybody around me does? Do some people not have a life? What is their problem? Do you have petty/intrusive co-workers? I do have some cool co-workers …

Great weather for the show today - cool, crisp, and sunny. Took the '38 Dodge for what will likely be its last outing of 2008. Over 600 cars this year, the oldest of which was a 1904 Cadillac (no pic). I only took a few pics due to lots of looking around and BSing. And Imageshack seems to be on the rag tonight, so some are missing. (I'll try to add them) Enjoy:

Wall Street Journal -- Ford vs. Honda Ford, Honda Cross Paths On Sales of SUVs CR-V Passes the Once-Dominant Explorer July 23, 2007 Deb Nison is a data warehouse developer in Portland, Ore., who likes to go snowboarding on nearby Mt. Hood. Once upon a time, she drove a Chevy TrailBlazer, and later a Subaru Forester. Today, she owns a 2007 Honda CR-V. "I like the way it handles," she says. She appreciates feeling "ridiculously safe" in a vehicle with standard head protecting airbags. And for an SUV, she says, it gets "decent mileage" -- about 23 miles per gallon so far around town. Ms. Nison is just one reason why the Honda CR-V is, as of June 30, America's best-sel…

Well, that was a fast year. Here are some of the things that happened in 2017: A new American President was sworn into office and found to be a truth-challenged, serial golfing narcissist whose primary goal appeared to be undoing all the achievements of his predecessor. His own crowning achievement was a windfall of wealth to corporate America and its officers at the expense of the lower and middle classes, future generations, and blue states. A series of hurricanes swept through the Gulf of Mexico and ravaged Florida, Texas, and Puerto Rico, resulting in hundreds of billions of dollars in damages. The country's deadliest mass shooting occurred in Las Vegas a…

I thought this would be a fun topic. If you could bring back or create five new GM vehicles that aren't currently in the lineup, what would they be? Here's my list: 1. Cadillac ULS - range topping Cadillac to compete with 7er/S-Class/etc. 2. Buick Velite - RWD sedan, coupe, and convert versions based on the concept. 3. Pontiac "G8" - RWD sedan based loosely on the GTO (next gen GTO, if there is one). 4. Pontiac Kappa sedan - something to give Pontiac a model below the G6. 5. Chevy Camaro - self explanatory I think.

With things looking rough, everybody is looking for ways to cut back. At this point, even our cars will be affected... I've started a few things.... Cheaper oil and air filters (gotta love private brands-both are made by Wix) Changing my own brakes and rotors (something I have not tried yet) I got lucky and found some good deals on wax (mothers) to clean them up. I'm trying hard not to cheap out on the cars....gotta shop smarter. Is there anything you guys are doing on cutting back?
