Simple, really. I'm bored and want to know how many pairs of shoes, what are they and what are they for. I'll start. I've got some very generic Skechers boots, I wear them for work. I have an old orange pair of Reeboks that I wear biking and running. And I have four pairs of Chuck Taylors, a basic black pair that I wear to work on nights I close (they dont leave marks on the floor like my Skechers do) then I have a blue pair, a brown pair and a black and gold pair that I wear to class, out, etc. Wow, I own 6 pairs of shoes.

Finally am getting back out in my shop. I've spent a couple hours for 3 nights cleaning thru stuff & throwing things away, and tonight I began the process of pouring a concrete 'curb' around the inside perimeter of my building. This is because when the floor was originally poured, the bordering form wood to control the pour has rotted over time, and mice have been sneaking in. I hate mice. Anyway, the perimeter is lined with all sorts of stuff, primarily car parts but some outright junk, and I want it all either stored off the floor or sold/tossed. I got only 10-ft done tonight (perimeter is about 110' (24'x48' building with (4) car doors), but chalk that up to getti…

06 Passat 06 Passat black int 03 530i 04 RSX-S 03 A6 So my favorite is the BMW, but it is also the most expensive. The A6 is the cheapest, but also has the highest mileage. The Passat is one of the cheaper ones, and the newest, but the biggest drawback for me is FWD. Same for the RSX-S, but both will be better on gas. I'm really leaning towards the BMW or Passat, but am having a hard time deciding if I want to pay $2k more for a 3 year older car, as it would be stretching my budget right now.

• We bought our '11 Jeep Liberty in Feb of 2016, with 53K miles. Not a single problem to date, not a fancy vehicle, but everyone here likes driving it fine. Now has 80K. Going to keep it, my one son is it's regular driver. • Wife's 2009 Malibu LT was bought new. Between GM card cash, sale discount (1500), and a Cash for Clunker trade (4600), the $25K sticker came down to the low $17K's. It's been a very good little sedan, a few very minor things plus the normal maintenance. Currently has 127K on it. Other than a few dings and some curb rash on the pass-side alloys, it's in good physical shape. Mechanically it could use front struts. On to this morning... checked…

It is my opinion that everyone viewing C&G should be registered, that there should be no "guests." I feel this way because whenever C&G has breaking news or a unique spy photo, the number of guests far outweighs the number of registered members. Perhaps it's no big deal, but I suspect that these guests are people who normally post to other car boards, and they merely view C&G to learn scoops and then share them with their usual audience. I guess I consider other websites as "competitors," and my loyalty is with C&G. To me, C&G has, arguably, at times, been the leading GM news website, and I hope that others will recognize and respect the site. …

OK, I'm going to open up a big can of worms, but hey it's part of my charm, plus I have a big can opener. :AH-HA_wink: Would you support GM moving it's Global Headquarters to another region and out of North America, say to either GM Eruope's headquarters or GM Asia-Pacific's headquarters, this would help in taking away GM's stigma of being an American auto maker and truly make it a global company. This would be something akin to what Oldsmobile did, when it didn't put Oldsmobile on it's products. GM would be saying we are a Global company, by taking GM out of North America, so to speak. So what are your thoughts on it, would you support such a move?

You know I have been thinking about a F-Body 2000-2002 with a V6 Coupe/T-Tops, I really would like a Firebird but found this Camaro at a only 6 grand with 59K! It is maroon (not first color choice my last actually because of my Cranberry SLE) and it has a fixed roof (great) and a stick (even better) and is priced good I think... Plus it is in Milwaukee and only 150 miles from my home. Plus I have family in that area as well... Hmm here is the car tell me what I should do... Keep in mind it would be my sons to drive to school and ours to play with on the weekends. My daughter would get the Impala then... Hmmm it is tempting but if it was white and had Pontiac on it, I prol…

Well, guys, this is what I came across today... I mean, the guy seems sincere. He says he's found a car he likes and he went as far as to purchase it, but I don't know. He's almost bought cars before, and he technically hasn't taken delivery of this one. Some guy could knock on his door at midnight tonight and sell him a silver 2005 GTO for $500. All he has to do is get a replacement for the busted steering column and scratch out the VIN. Heck, I'll throw in the Illinois plates for free. So, in short, Amer_Rev says he's done car shopping. Should I buy it?

I got a stone chip on my windshield, and it's noticeable and expanding. I went to a windshield place last time, and the guy said he can do it, and claim insurance for me. I'm too scared to actually deal with the insurance, who might raise my premiums if I have any claims. The cost of fixing it was like 70 bucks. Anyone had claims like these and end up getting their premium raised?

So this happened yesterday: Now, I fully plan on keeping my car until it dies. That said, I've been considering whether to buy a cheap older car with good gas mileage to keep from piling up more miles than necessary on my primary car. Would it be economically responsible to find a ~$2K beater that gets about 30-35 mpg to trek the 30 miles each way to work? Or would initial cost, insurance and probability of repair make it not worth it? -RBB

Well, yesterday was an interesting day for me automotively speaking, as I drove a dream car: The BMW M5 with the 500 Horse V10 and SMG transmission - in short, it is a wonderful and engaging car to drive. Sebring silver over black leather with the suede headliner - so much leather I felt I was in an S and M shop -er...not that I would know...just what I have seen on t.v.! We were looking at a Used BMW 750 that my dad is very interested in (mom hates the XLR - she cannot get comfortable in it with her bad back) and she loves the BMW 7-series. So when we finished looking at the 7, I was sitting in the new Z4 and my son asked me if this is the car I would drive on this …

Someone offered me a '78 Camaro rolling chassis for trade on what's left of the Firebird today. I'm seriously thinking about having a project to put away and begin working on when I finish up with the Regal's interior and paint. While I would really like to have a tired old Cutlass to work on and eventually slip the Regal's Rocket 350 into, I'm mulling over pulling the trigger on this particular trade. Winter's getting close and the Firebird has to go as soon as possible. Factor in that I could be moving soon into a house with a nice garage to work in and well ... The Camaro has one big downside: the sheetmetal is full of rust. I'll just let you guys check it out for …

Well, with all the crappy new lately (and it sucks to know that "other stuff" too), it makes me want to just get away from cars for a while. One simple thing is stopping me- my Cavalier. Yes, a simple Cavvy...... Even though my plans to "speed" her up are done (just a waste of money with a family now), My buddy is working on his beater 03, which has me wanting to do a little "upgrading". Granted, just wheels and tires, and few small goodies....it is amazing what a little work on your car will do. I want my next project to a classic car (GM vintage), and find a car that will be a fun 1st classic car..... I almost feel bad about spendin the money, but....gotta hav…

We love our 2003 Expedition EB but we are having to get it fixed all the time. Partly because the service department at Ford is terrible and they dont know what they are doing. For some reason, it is vibrating constantly and it stopped running today. Should we replace it? Is it worth to get a new vehicle? This Expedition has 80,000 kms on it.

All right, I don't think I've mentioned this, but I'm trying my best to put me degree as an English major to good use by writing a military fiction novel. Think Dale Brown or (god forbid) Tom Clancy. If y'all wouldn't mind I'm going to post a little excerpt on here for your reading pleasure. I've really love some feedback. From the first chapter: “Twenty minutes to target, we’re still clean, terrain coming up in ten miles, we’ll need to climb up to four thousand to remain clear of it,” Williams announced to everyone. The MiG-27 that had been in the area was now behind the aircraft when it suddenly turned into a bat-wing symbol. “That -27 is looking in our di…

My 2007 Silverado Classic Crew Cab was rear ended by a speeding Ford Exploder while stopped at a red light. It bent the frame at least where the tow hitch attaches and pushed the bed into the cab. The drivers side rear door doesn't close all the way anymore. The rear window broke but since I recently had my windows tinted it stayed in one piece. I don't know yet if it will be totaled yet. It will never be the same so I would rather have a new truck. My back and neck are sore but I came out ok so far. It hurt most when I see my truck. I shrunk a picture down a bit to show the damage.

I saw this on CNN this afternoon. Hoax Devices Part Of Cartoon Ad Campaign (WBZ) BOSTON The suspicious devices which forced bomb units to scramble across Boston today were actually magnetic lights that are part of a marketing campaign for a television cartoon. The reports forced the temporary shutdowns of Interstate 93 out of the city, a key inbound roadway, a bridge between Boston and Cambridge, and a portion of the Charles River but were quickly determined not to be explosive. "It's a hoax -- and it's not funny," Gov. Deval Patrick said. All of the devices are magnetic lights which resemble a character on the show "Aqua Teen Hunger Force", on Turner Broadcasting'…

There are many pre-bankruptcy and a few 2009 post bankruptcy, but none within the past 3 months. Does anybody know where to find one?

Posted January 14 2008 09:08 AM by Todd Lassa Filed under: New Cars, Motor City Blogman, Toyota, Crossovers, Detroit Auto Show DETROIT - Toyota describes its 2009 Venza as a vehicle for sedan owners who want to move up and SUV owners who want to downsize. It has the comfort of a Camry, the function of a 4Runner and the luxury of an Avalon. And, Toyota neglected to say, the look of a Buick. Why not? My LS comes with a readout for the instant fuel economy average, so I've been keeping track to see how I'm doing on fuel consumption. On two cross-state trips with the AC running and an average speed of about 78 MPH, I have gotten 26.2 and 27.5 mpg (higher mileage coming back because I live at a lower elevation than my hometown). In the city, I'm consistently getting between 18 and 20 mpg depending on how often I goose it from a stop. But if I go to fueleconomy.gov, it says my car should be getting 15/22 under the 2008 revisions and 17/24 under the old. It makes me wonder how accurate the revised EPA fuel economy standards are. Even if I drive like a bat out of hell…

Some of you may have noticed a series of small changes being made around here. For every one small change you see, there are 10 more that you can't see that only really apply to how the search engines see the site. This is part of a concentrated effort on my part to raise the visibility of CheersandGears.com in the eyes of the search engines. This is a learning process for me, but since diving into this on January 1, we've seen some slight movement in the right direction. I am expending this effort and money for two reasons: First, we've been turned down by some manufacturers for being too small and not having enough unique visitors per month. The URLs for a number of pictures didn't update to their new locations. Your job, when you spot one of these, is to use the Report Post/Article/Gallery button so I can fix it. If we get a lot of these, I'll think up of some prize for the person with the most reports. It can be missing emojis, missing pictures in threads, or missing pictures in an article. The fix for most of these is super simple, but I need to crowdsource finding them. I'm leaving the 2025 Acura MDX and 2025 Infiniti QX80 articles up as an example to look at. Bu…

Right now i got a TH350, for those who dont know trannys, its a 3 speed auto, not the greatest for gas mileage, but its decently strong but mine is on its way out. its starting to slip pretty bad in first, so here are my options. If i stick with an Auto, im not keeping a 3 speed. im looking at a 200 4-R out of a G Body for the Overdrive, as its a very simple swap. I would have it built to handle alot more power then im putttin…

So Marcia has turned up the "douchebag factor" to the MAX. She is using our daughter Sofia like a pawn in some twisted, deranged game... I was a fool to think that she was going to think that she was going to stay civil. Things have turned ugly beyond my wildest imagination. This whole divorce thing has made me realize that she is just plain cruel & selfish. On a positive note, today was a good day overal. As of 10am today I am officially back in the car business for the first time since 2003. One of my many compromises that I made for Marcia was to not work at a car dealership durring the past four years. Another stupid useless sacrafice that …

For my architecture independent project, I have been working on a site analysis model of downtown Des Moines. My project is a light rail transportation hub with retail and public space, and the site of the project is adjacent to the rail tracks running by downtown (in the image below, there are two surface parking lots next to two purple parking garages and a couple overpasses...those lots are where the hub will go). For those that have ever played SimCity, the color scheme should be pretty easy to recognize: Green = residential lofts / apartments / condos Blue = commercial office & retail Yellow = industrial / warehouses Orange = civic buildings, federal buildi…

Let the Lindsey hype begin: Vonn is Sports Illustrated cover girl By Chris Chase Lindsey Vonn is hoping the Sports Illustrated cover jinx doesn't cross international borders. America's great Winter Olympic hope is featured on the front of SI's Winter Olympic preview issue, which hit newsstands Wednesday. Vonn's semi-provocative pose has drawn the predictable ire from those who claim that it objectifies her. She's an athlete, not a sex symbol, the chorus inevitably reminds us. From womentalksports.com: Vonn is first a GREAT athlete, but she also represents norm of feminine attractiveness. The combination of athleticism and attractiveness make Vonn the…

The other day I wrote an estimate for a guy with an '02 Accord V6. He was eager to schedule the repairs so he could go and look into trading in his car... for a new Malibu. My ears perked up and I gave him a pep talk. Here's to continued momentum and good word-of-mouth for the new Malibu.

http://www.skyroadster.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11057 When visiting with Fly, Camino, Oldsmoboi, Ocnblu, and BlackandBlueLandscaper and showing off the SKY, they couldn't tell that my car had been damaged in an accident. I told them that quite a few of the Kappa cars have been involved in accidents over the last two years and many were able to be repaired, although others met their unfortunate fate too early. The link above is from the skyroadster.com fourm; while the first page goes back to January of this year, there are some collages of accident pictures. But a recent addition on page 2 shows what a Solstice looks like when it flips completely over. I figured I…

Do any of you have trouble with sleep? Sleep has been a nightmare for me lately. I have a mattress that is only about 18 months old, but I still wake up with a sore back and stiff neck. Stress from work and life leave my mind racing. The bed issue has gotten to the point to where we have moved into sleeping in the guest bedroom a few nights a week. What do you do to deal with sleep issues?

I've always been a fan of "sleepers"; you know, the kinds of cars that are very unassuming in appearance but can really kick @ss out on the streets. I've owned several of them over the years but I'll start with my most recent: This was a 1994 Dodge Spirit. I picked it up with 48K miles on it in 1998. It was powered by a the Mitsu 3.0L V6 backed up by a solid-shifting A670 3-speed auto tranny. For whatever reason, this car would flat-out HAUL. Low curb weight was one reason I'm sure (~2700 lbs.), but the V6 in this thing seemed especially hot. One of my favorite experiences with the Spirit was when I was coming home late one night. I was on a 4-lane highway with traffi…

Pick a sleeper, describe it in an accurate but funny way. Only rule: Must be a true sleeper, so all sports cars and pony cars are out. 1. 1987 Buick Regal T-Type.... for when Nana is late for bingo but has 355 lb-ft of torque under her right orthopedic shoe.

I've been up working on my 3D animation since 9 or so..I was lucky enough to get a 3 hours nap...which is why I'm still able to maintain consciousness. On top of my 3D final I'm working on (critique due today), I have a social psychology paper due next week, probably 20 or so essays do for aesthetics (plus the final), and a photography project due Monday...then the final for that class. I also have a test in science next week. College...it sucks this time of year. Any of you guys experiencing this fun too? ...I see daylight....

About one month ago, this was my driveway: Since then, the Cobalt was deemed a total loss, my brother's friend no longer practically lives with us (the Grand Prix in the pic), I bought that Olds, and now today, I sold the Millenia for paltry $200. Someone got a pretty good deal if they do all the work it needs. A few random other car related things... My brother hit a deer with his Alero. My Mom is officially looking for a Sunfire replacement. She'd like to find something with low mileage that's newer and fuel efficient. We did find an 02 Cavalier with 50k for $3k, but the seller never contacted us back, so I figure it's sold. Also found a 99 Cutlass with 47k for …

Okay, so the wife has gone from wanting a '08 CTS or Enclave (determined out of our price range), to a VUE or an Edge (fuel concerns) to now wanting a small, fuel-efficient (plus cheap!) 4- or 5-door car. Why the change? Realizing that it cost us $50 to fill up the AURA and $65 to fill up the Envoy last Friday, she wants to get something more affordable and, more importantly, will aid in saving additional $$$ in our bank account and not spent at the gas station. We just recently test-drove the all-new 2009 Pontiac Vibe GT FWD and she likes that a lot. The Cobalt, HHR, and Astra are off her radar, and while she likes the Malibu, shewants to spend around $20-21K MSRP…

Here's a topic to discuss all the neat small to mid economical crossovers available. Which do you like, which do you not. Vue Element HHR PT Cruiser Caliber Compass Patriot Escape Outlander CRV Equinox Mazda5 Forester I like what the new Jeep patriot offers. I've always like the VUE, and the new hybrid should be cool. My mom and I got into this conversation the other day. If the US Government created the law that all US citizens would from today forward need a very small tracking chip placed harmlessly inside their bodies for tracking, security, and/or citizenship purposes, would you be for or against it? I would be for it. This may make people want to not commit crimes because it would be more difficult for them to escape being caught (GPS). Also, what if you only had to scan your arm to prove citizenship? There are many things that I think are good about this. I honestly don't think this would take away from people's freedom. You won't be videotaped or anything. You'll be shown as …

Fortwos come with luxury options like heated leather seats and power steering. The 8-foot, 8-inch Smart Fortwo micro car comes to U.S. shores in January, and even with gasoline prices well above the $3-a-gallon mark it remains to be seen whether Americans will flock to buy the tiny, two-seater car. Ranging in price from $11,590 for the base version to $16,590 for a fully loaded Fortwo Passion convertible, the 1,800-pound car boasts 40 miles per gallon — a big draw for drivers worried about high gas prices. Smart has already sold more than 770,000 Fortwos in 36 countries, and Smart USA is banking on robust sales in the United States. The Smarts on sale here will be made…

I work with this dope who LOVES Hondas. He thinks that they are God's gift to cars. I mean really, this guy told me how one of the sickest and fastest cars on the street right now is the last gen. Prelude. According to him a TSX is the best sport sedan on the market. But here's the kicker... he drives a '96 Dodge Neon. Today he told me how his Neon is stupid-quick, quite the sleeper. Time flies, doesn't it? Hard to believe, but my NEPHEW'S FIRST BIRTHDAY is less than a month away, mid NOVEMBER! Watching him grow is awesome; I try to spend as much time with him as possible. It's also hard to believe I haven't been online for nearly 2 months, since before I left for my Route 66 road trip. A few days after I got home, I developed a virus infection (stomach flu) which requires fluids and rest, so unlike me, I've been in bed early every night since arriving home. A lot is going on right now, too, and wanting to be "on the road" and the fall/winter seasons don't help much. Among other things, driving my older 4 Monte Carlos (1972, 1976, 1979, 1981)…

POLITICAL POWERLESSNESS... Aaaaahhhhhgggg! I cannot wait until the elections are over. I'm sssooo tired of the political mailings with messages directed at FAMILIES. Whenever I read "you and your family" or some resemblance thereof, I immediately send the mailing to the circular file. The best example of this was a mailing I received earlier this week. It started out innocent enough with this sentence: "Our research shows that you, Cort XXXX, are the type of voter that candidate XXXX aims to support." I was intrigued, so I kept reading ... partially because the mailing featured a pie chart/graph and some photos. Near the end of it, though, I came across this se…

"My" new Smart Passion: $14,620. White/black with tan interior, premium sound system, foglamps, power steering, clock and tachometer. Can "comical" also be "smart"? I saw my second Smart locally on the street yesterday, yellow with black frame, driven by an uber-nerdy guy with glasses. What's going on here? Is it hip to be square?

I know we have the "What Are You Listening To?" thread, but what I'd like to see is a thread dedicated to the music snobs here, a hopefully thousand page thread dedicated to in-depth discussions of the music we listen to (without being far beyond obsessed with that analysis; there is a reason why your standard Tool fan is the butt of every joke associated with metal). I have no clue how to start this thread off, really. So I suppose I'll mention what I've been listening to a lot lately: The Avett Brothers. So far, this is the only band with a banjo that I love the hell out of. Great vocals, supreme musicianship, and Emotionalism was quite experimental in terms of dynami…

It's snowing. It has been all day. A LOT. A LOT more than expected. It won't stop. It just keeps coming and coming and coming. I had a "plan" today to get up, eat and leave for Philly/Jersey/etc. before it really started and because the forecast up there was better, drier, etc. After some issues, got rolling around 9:45, it was snowing & white here but dry about 5 miles from home, hit Wawa for coffee & kept going. Got to just past Milton on Rt. 1 north (for those of you who know DE beach area), the road all of a sudden turned wet & covered in brown salt then I saw I was a few cars back from a salt truck.
