This is insane, looks like the auction was pulled though. GM needs to have more regulations and guidelines for dealers to follow. GM's sales would be a lot higher if more people could have a decent experience at a dealership. http://5thgencamaro.blogspot.com/2006/08/d...sits-again.html

http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives/2006/...eople.html#more Give the People What They Want By Bob Lutz GM Vice Chairman Ever since we launched this blog over a year and a half ago, a few recurring themes have peppered your comments and feedback, and perhaps one more than any other. For a while there, it seemed like Fast Lane would turn into "All Camaro, All the Time." We'd post something about fuel economy; someone would respond by telling us to build a new Camaro. We'd write about the latest J.D. Power Dependability Study; someone posts about missing Camaro. Our revamped value pricing system? Camaro. A brand-new GM rollover testing facility? Camaro. And this was b…

http://media.gm.com/servlet/GatewayServlet...n=3&docid=27934 TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. β Dear sports car fans: General Motors heard you loud and clear. GM Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner announced today that GM will build an all-new version of the Chevrolet Camaro sport coupe based on the award-winning concept that stole the spotlight at the North American International Auto Show and has ignited the passion of car enthusiasts around the world ever since β even spurring consumers to start petition drives and send in certified checks in hopes of placing early deposits. βThe overwhelmingly enthusiastic response to the Camaro Concept continues to remind me of the uniquely i…

One of my friends and I went looking at the Colorado crew cab. Not a bad truck but a little pricey I think. He is trading in a 2005 Dodge Magnum, and needs the bed of the truck. He now how ever is looking at the Frontier. I am going to look at the Nissans tomorrow with him and see how it stands up to the rado. If anybody can give me any insight on some comparisons or anything I would appreciate it Thanks. I will also fill in as best I can on my own comparison

Exotic cars here are fairly commonplace, but a couple days ago a Le Mans Blue Z06 came roaring down the road, I almost messed myself. Sizzlin hot. I see them here more in Yellow or Silver. This color looked fantastic. You have to see this car in person...pictures don't even come close. Makes the regular Corvette look sedate. July 17, 2006 Test Drive: 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Review and photos by Paul Williams It's a good thing that accelerating too quickly isn't a traffic offence. Just back from Chevy's "build & price" situation, and on the 2007 Cobalt SS/SC options list is the lower-profile T43 spoiler, priced at $0. I know in years past, when new model year info was first posted, it was sometimes incomplete and even wrong in spots. I'd like to know if anyone in sales can confirm this spoiler option. I'd really like to see a spoiler delete option... or make the wing a dealer-installed thing like the ION Redline, so the customer has a chance to decline it. I saw a black '07 Redline at the local dealer, and it looks so much better with the ground effects and fat tires pulling it visually to the ground, unfettered by the wing that adds unnece…

Chevrolet Impala LS By Frank Williams July 20th, 2006 If you want to judge a restaurant, donβt order the chefβs specialty. Go for the hamburger or the omelet. If the man in the funny hat prepares these prosaic dishes with the same passion he puts into his SuprΓ¨me de Turbot RΓ΄ti aux Asperges Vertes et Γ l'Ail en Chemise, you have a winner. The same applies to cars. If you want to judge an automakerβs prowess, check their basic models. Scope the ones with standard engines and base interiors that hide in the back of the lots. A few miles behind the wheel tells you more about the manufacturerβs passion for product than anything their spinmongers could ever publish. …

Just a thought... GM doesn't have any alternate fuel compact in North America at the moment. Maybe there should be more engines for the Cobalt, just not running gasoline. Diesel: The 1.9L CDTI ECOTEC is readily available in Europe in the Astra. I'm sure with some modifications it'll work in NA in a Cobalt. I think it'll go nicely against the Jetta TDI. E85: The Solstice GXP Drifter uses an E85 2.0L ECOTEC, so I think that means an E85 version of the 2.2L/2.4L engine is possible. Bi-fuel Natural Gas: The Cavalier used to have it with the 2.2L LN2 and ECOTEC. It wasn't carried over to the Cobalt though. Hybrid: Maybe it's coming with the BAS system after the Aura …

Our one year old 2005 Tahoe has had a broken liftgate handle for over a month now -- according to the local Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer that I use for service on this car, apparently GM has been using a new, cheaper liftgate handle for the last year or so, and there are like 200 backorders around the country for this specific part. The car is still under warranty, so I'm not worried about any costs, but has anyone heard anything about this? It seems incredible to me that there would be so much trouble with such an item, as this part should not have changed since the 2000 model year... What's up here? On a sidenote, I just returned from a short family vacation in the m…

Do I have any hope at all of expecting a decent Chevy mini next time I'm in the market? I understand Lambda is supposed to brng a new van with it, but I've not heard anything about what it will be like. Chevy abandoned vans when the original Venture arrived and the uplander combines ugly with out of date in such a wonderful way . My current van, a '96 Villager is showing its age and functions as a second vehicle. I would like to get a new mini in a couple of years to replace my car, kids are getting big and all, and would like to move back to Chevy again. So does anyone have any info on features on this proposed van?

I need a Chevrolet dealer or someone else associated with the Impala ordering program to answer this question. I found an '06 Impala SS that I wanted to buy this weekend, during the zero percent financing program. It had the white exterior that I want, and the neutral leather interior with the woodgrain dash inserts, but it also had an ebony (black) dash top, steering column and steering wheel, and upper door panels. Shouldn't the neutral Impala SS interior have the slightly darker tan color on the upper dash, steering column and wheel, and tops of the door panels? I have never seen this ebony and neutral combo before; the LTZ and lower Impala models all have the …

A convertible version? Basically a range-topping spritual successor to the SSR. The engineering work would already be done for the most part, so it wouldn't be as expensive to include it, and I think a few SSR owners might trade theirs in. What does everyone think? After driving that SSR today I now want one for some reason (probably because I felt so different driving it - it's like nothing else I've ever driven), but anyways, what does everyone think?

Ok here is the deal. The wife and I are in the market for an 07 Burb.... I'd LOVE to wait for the 6-speed, but we both REALLY want to get a new truck. Our Grand Cherokee is NOT CUTTING IT ANY MORE LOL. I'm looking to see if any one knows "when" it's (the 6-speed) gonna hit the Chevys and not just the "up scale" Denali and slade!!! You'd think they'd put them into the LTZ also. I can't see them not being able to get trannies for some of the suburbans and Tahoes. I've heard 08 (as in Jan 08), but I can't believe it's gonna take that long to get them into the trucks.

So, I made a chop of what I hope to one day see, a Saleen Camaro (please comment on this chop's design HERE): Then I did a little Saleen S281 (Mustang) research. S281 stands for the Saleen version of Ford's 281 cubic inch 4.6L V8 in the Mustang GT. The Saleen S281's performance specs are as follows (stage: "name of stage" -- horsepower/torque): Ford Mustang GT -- 300/320 S281 Stage 1: "3-Valve" -- 330/340 S281 Stage 2: "Supercharged" -- 435/425 S281 Stage 3: "Extreme" -- 550/500 However, the Mustang only uses one V8 and we're counting on the Camaro having two from the factory. Therefore, I'm going to use the lower-end V8 for the Saleen version of our beloved 5th G…

Autoweek is reporting that when Chevy said there was no Blue Devil they were not lying. That is because it has been given the name Sting Ray. Little info was reported that we did not know already such as Carbin Fiber Hood, 600 HP, and a price at $100,000. I am sure ther will be added features over the Z06 and by the time it reaches market it will find a little more than 600 HP. Thwy alway seem to find 5-15 HP at release time. I wonder it this finally kills the Kappa idea that Chey did not need.

Do you find the GM minivans to be a disappointment? How much longer until GM tries the minivan thing again? I wonder how sales of Uplander, Montana SV6, Terraza and Relay compare to Chrysler or Toyota. Or even Nissan or Hyundai? GM could do better. The 90 Lumina/Transport/Silhouette was a flop. Then the 1997 Venture was an improvement. Seems like the Uplander isn't selling as well as the Venture. Some say minivans are a thing of the past and GM should focus on SUVs and family sedans. Maybe so. The Astro sold as well as the Uplander when it was 10 or 15 years old! GM needs to try a new front end on the Uplander soon as see if that can improve sales.

Pretty good NY Times article about the Impala. I couldn't really disagree with much of what the article was talking about. It was basically talking about how the Impala is a shadow of its former self. However, the article was quite positive about the current Impala and how well it stacks up against the Asians. http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/03/business...artner=homepage DETROIT, June 2 β To understand why Detroit is having so much trouble competing against Asian car companies, look no further than the Chevrolet Impala. Chevrolet's general manager, Edward J. Peper, and marketing manager, Mark A. Clawson, said Impala sales were up 6.4 percent this year. In the 1960…

Why not offer the LS7 in a detuned form as an option on the base steal framed VETTE positioned between the LS2 and the Z06 models. It could be called the 427 CORVETTE like the historical ones even though its actually 428CI's. With 475 or so HP and the heaver steal frame in NON Z06 spec it would differ enough from that HIGH PERFORMANCE model in both cost and performance. This is something I WOULD LOVE TO SEE! A new 475HP 427 NEW GEN CAMARO to go with it!

Second Place: Ford Shelby GT500 Highs: 500 horsepower for less than 50 grand, light shifter, supple ride. Lows: Porky and nose heavy, boy-racer stripes, thin features list. The Verdict: A great Mustang that is priced with some very stiff competition. First Place: Chevrolet Corvette Highs: Neutral handling, strong brakes, refined demeanor. Lows: Inferior, slippery seats; tricky shifter. The Verdict: It's been two years since we first drove a C6, and we're still impressed. I am not sure if it has been posted yet, (my sense was that it was not yet approved) but I just picked up the July issue of GM High Tech Performance and they state the the Camaro has finally been approved. Some details: Fact: GM has approved the Camaro for the 2010 model year. Camaro will ride on the Zeta platform. Coupe production will begin in early 2009. Convertible production will start in late 2009. The Camaro coupe's program code is GMX521. The convertible's program code is GMX511. The camaro will be built in Australia. A number of key GM performance and manufacturing engineers have been relocated to Melbourne, Australia's Holden facility to develo…

Some interesting rumours. For those who don't know, there's a live action Transformers movie being shot righ now, for release in the July 4th 2007. Apparently, GM will be a big sponsor. Here's some interesting bit of info gathered at the current location: "Hey, I work out here at Holloman AFB, in New Mexico. The Transformers movie started filming here last week. Some slight spoilers Bumblebee is going to start out as a 1970's Camaro, get really f-ed up, then be rebuilt as a 2008 Camaro." Yes. 2008 Camaro.

It seems to me that the AVEO should be called a GEO NOT a CHEVY! If they were to bring back the sub Chevy brand they could make a STRIPER COBALT the base Chevy model. Then they could do the AVEO line as a GEO and bring over other GM+GM partner Asian/European small cars/SUV's/Crossovers in the restored Chevy sub brand. The new FIAT GRANDE PUNTO would make a GREAT NEW GEO METRO being that it is built on a GM of Europe platform. And with its opt Diesel power it could be VERY EFFICENT. The SUZUKI VERONA could be a NEW GEO PRIZM and there are MANY OTHERS they could choose from for the CHEVY MINI BRAND!

Well today i was pleasently supprised when our GM trainer came in and discussed future products for us... First he cleanly said "you didnt hear it from me" but... The camaro will be avalible in 2008 as a 2009 year model. He also mentioned that there would be 3 engine choices those being 1 v6 and 2 v8's and the idea of borrowing the 7L, although it wouldnt be rated to have as much power as the vette, the idea was there to borrow the motor. He also went on to mention stuff about the impala next year getting AFM (this we already knew) he also mentioned that it was sent to austrailia (like we already knew) so that it would stay out of the limelight...

Just read this one from down under. Maybe some have seen it, but I have not seen anything about it posted here, so here 'tis! GM Plots Global Diesel Offensive & Holden Could Benefit -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- General Motors Is Plotting A Diesel Offensive On The Hitherto Compression-Ignition Shy US Market Gautam Sharma 19 May 2006 www.carpoint.com.au GM is armed with a pair of high-tech new powerplants -- and it's not inconceivable that these units could eventually be offered in our own Holden Commodore. "We are developing right now two highly modern diesel motors that won't just fulfil the …

Okay, so here's what I'm saying... For the base model V6: 3.6L DOHC with VVT & DI Why? It's perfect. It'll be production-ready by 2008, it'll make enough power to annihilate Ford's most potent V6 up to date (3.6L @ 265 HP/250 TQ), and will offer good enough MPG/emissions to make even Honda buyers go American. For the smaller V8: I don't really know. I'd like to think a more up-to-date 5.3L than the current one with a bit more power, but I really have no idea. Ideas from you guys? For the larger V8: 6.2L LS3 with VVT/AFM I'd definitely say a 6.2-6.3L LS3 (whatever amount of liters it will be) making around 425-450 HP is very possible. Especially with how great…

Perhaps you've seen the 1962 Pontiac Monte Carlo convertible on eBay recently. Thought that was a bit interesting? Try this on for size ... Packard had a Monte Carlo. A friend of mine who owns a 1941 Packard, sent me a page that included the following info... "Your recent items on the 1948 Station Sedan and Professor Ward's 'The Packard Legacy' (issue 87) seem to lament Packard's failure to keep up with Cadillac and others in styling and more modern engineering. Richard Arbib's original Monte Carlo...indicates that Packard did anticipate (or at least react to) the GM hardtops introduced to the public in January 1949. If Packard was not thinking along these lines, at…

Was on a bike ride and I saw my first 2007 Chevy Suburban-a Black LT 1500 4x4. Much nicer looking than Tahoe, the rear overhang was a little much and it did look a bit of "too much the same", but its proportions look good, kind of macho. anyone else seen these on the roads yet?
