Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

By JENS MEINERS AutoWeek | Published 05/09/06, 8:20 am Cadillac plans to re-enter the coupe segment with a powerfully styled CTS-based two-door, possibly by 2008 as a 2009 model. Cadillac had hoped to keep a lid on the project, which was pushed back because of General Motors’ financial situation. The program has not been officially approved, but work is well under way—and “Bob Lutz really wants it,” sources familiar with the project tell AutoWeek. “The biggest problem for this car is GM has other, more urgent business to take care of right now.” Insiders describe the coupe as a “bold and elegant” design statement. “This car is a new and powerful interpretation of …

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,172324,00.html One of the most famous examples of such an odd association in recent years is Cadillac’s use of Led Zeppelin’s “Rock and Roll,” which debuted during the Super Bowl in 2002 and has been used in over a dozen commercials for the car since. Lisa Pottger of New York, N.Y., said these ads in particular turn her off. "I get all nostalgic, then annoyed," she said. The association was, of course, a calculated move. Cadillac was able to change the perception of the "Caddy" from your grandparents’ embarrassingly large boat of a car to the modern, sophisticated power machine that the engine warrants. “…

For the lack of anything interesting going on I thought I would drag this out. Last Spring I saw this posted but never heard or seen anything else. Anyone else see or hear anything on this car. I could see this as a great challenger to the Aston Martin or AMG coupe. I think a 2 + 2 GT would work much better at Cadillac and not step on the Corvettes toes. They need space and what would do better than slotting the Cadillac into a GT class the Corvette is not in. http://www.burlappcars.com/2012/05/new-cadillac-coupe-coming-up.html Anyone know any more on the Cadillac Glamour Concept? http://www.digitaltrends.com/cars/cadillac-glamour-concept/ Cadillac has put this out …

Am I the only one that thinks after Art&Science is played out and starts to look dated Cadillac should bring back these? I wish we could make a car like that again. I know if tail fins come back it will be under much more stringent regulation & pedestian safety bull$h! but it would be so sweet to have a 2011 Cadillac with vertical tail fins and lower "Skegs". Again, just thinking out loud.

Overall, they liked it a lot. The problems they encountered were... Stalling (reconnecting battery per incident was a temporary fix; bad engine control module was to blame) UltraView sunroof cracked (15,842 miles) Key and remote faulty (20,411 miles) Wobbly gearshift Interior rattles Squeaks from steering column Their complaints of the car itself were limited to the wide rocker panels, which hindered ingress/egress, visibility, trip computer, and interior quality. The cost to service/maintain it over 40K miles was $701, and they averaged 17 MPG, with a fuel cost of $5671. "All in all, our long-term SRX V-8's performance will help, not hurt, its cha…

Comparison Test Review: 2006 BMW 650i vs. 2006 Cadillac XLR-V vs. 2007 Jaguar XK vs. 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL550 vs. 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera Article They placed the XLR-V last, and though at first I said "Figures ," in that group of cars, the XLR-V simply doesn't cut it. The Caddy isn't a bad car, but in a group of those kind of peers the car needs a better interior and better all-around refinement. The only problem I had with the review is C&D's typically snide attitude towards domestics which they can't seem to get rid of, even when the car is outstanding in its own right. Thoughts?

Ch-Ch-Changes For The CTS In 2012 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 19, 2011 2012 Cadillac CTS Gallery Cadillac is adding some changes for the 2012 CTS. Exterior wise, the CTS gets a new grill that uses premium finishes to highlight the grill's use of frame and mesh. Also, the Wreath & Crest logo has been tweaked (again) with brighter colors and raised ridges. The big news comes from the 3.6 DI V6 which now gets 318 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque; up from 304 horses and 273 lb-ft on the current 3.6. The 3.6 also weighs 20.5 lbs less than the current motor and will still get the current EPA rating of 18 city/27 highwa…

I am not atall sure about anyone else, but after seeing spyshots of a first-gen CTS wagon I cannot help but wish it had been produced. It looks really good, and I especially love the roofline and tail end treatment. It has a REAL station wagon look to it, with nice big quarter windows so you can see out of it, unlike the second-gen production version.

Today I saw the most current version of the DTS driving alongside me on a major boulevard. I was thinking about how this car had "cleaned up nicely" and that there is nothing too overstyled about the Cadillac brand anymore (though I don't like the new heavy "eggcrate" CTS grille). At any rate, since it tends to be hot in inland Northern California, I remembered how Cadillac typically offered a cloth interior on the DeVille series. It was nicely detailed and very comfortable. Because of the heat, I will always own a car with a cloth interior. I was thinking that, on one model, possibly the DTS in Trim Level 1 form, a cloth interior should be offered in a couple of gen…

Cadillac Revs Up for European Road Trip Date posted: 07-27-2007 | Link to Original Article @ Edmunds BREUKELEN, Netherlands — Cadillac has announced that it will hit the road in Europe this summer with the SRX and a customized Escalade that has been pimped out with advanced DJ equipment by Bose and Pioneer. The road trip is designed to win over customers on the Continent who as of yet may not be thoroughly convinced of the merits of the brand. "Club Cadillac" will swing through Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany and Austria. The automaker said the event is designed to "further increase Cadillac's brand perception in Europe this summer." The one-of-a-kin…

Insideline Super Sedan Showdown Once you get your hands on a supercharged 556-horsepower 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, you know that you need a 500-hp 2008 BMW M5 with which to measure it. It's a matter of practical science. Of course, there's a sizable price difference between the $59,995 CTS-V and the $86,675 M5, and we don't want to get our comparison results skewed by mere money. Maybe we should add the 507-hp 2009 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG to our science project. Trouble is, this Merc's $86,875 price tag still doesn't put the CTS-V under any pressure. We had a better idea. We opted for the more nimble 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. This compact sedan cranks out only 451 hp, …

I just skimmed through my copy of Consumer Reports last night and I saw a real nice photo of a CTS. CR tested entry level luxury cars in their most recent issue. The first page of the review where they put the overall ratings, Consumer Reports decided to write this half page long caveat about how great the Cadillac is and other recent GM offerings, but how poor the reliability is on GM cars. The score for the CTS puts it in second behind an Infiniti but the CTS has the worst reliability out of all the cars in the entry level luxury class. The primary complaints that make the car way below average are "squeaky brakes" and "squeeks and rattles in the interior."

That came out of a new ad for the Acadamy of Art University in the February 2006 issue of Automobile magazine. It has some design elements reminicent of current Cadillacs, and it looks to be CTS sized... Is that a clay, scale model for the next CTS? Me? I doubt it. But it grabbed my attention enough to scan it and post it here. (To be honest, it was probably a proposal for a current Cadillac model, but then again...)

With the new CT4-V and CT5-V, Cadillac has returned to big power:- CT4-V Blackwing gets 474 bhp / 445 lb-ft Twin-Turbo V6 (LF4) CT5-V Blackwing gets 668 bhp / 659 lb-ft Supercharged Pushrod V8 (LT4) This is definitely welcomed news for Cadillac V-Car fans who were completely underwhelmed by last year's CT4-V and CT5-V that boasted a whopping 10~25 hp gain over ordinary CT5 cars and base model Silverado pickups. The return to Pushrod power is encouraging, showing that GM is finally playing to it's architectural strength rather than chasing after other manufacturer's design weaknesses. Still, it begs the question as to why Cadillac (or GM in general…

What We KnowThe 2016 CT6 is not Cadillac’s flagship, General Motors product chief Mark Reuss says. That role will be given to an even larger rear-wheel-drive sedan coming within four years. While the Cadillac CT6 is a bit bigger than a short-wheelbase BMW 7 Series, we expect the so-called CT8 to be slightly larger than the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The CT8, like the CT6, will ride on the new Omega platform, which employs GM’s patented process for welding aluminum. If the CT6 is any guide, the CT8 will be hundreds of pounds lighter than the S-Class. But the CT8 will be more than a long-wheelbase version of the CT6. Its styling should be more stately and upright…

As I was reading and drooling over the CTS-V in this months Motor Trend I noticed the sidebar talking about the upcoming coupe and wagon. It said the coupe was ripe for the V treatment and the upcoming wagon could introduce the new clean diesel and they didn't think there would be a CTS-V wagon due to high development costs to low sales volume. After reading about the CTS Wagon, diesel, V, whatever, just add AWD and I'll seriously consider one. I've been on a practical movement lately with my vehicles for some odd reason. I guess it's just me getting old. But hell, I've always loved a wagon that would haul ass, and big torque and good mileage would be the ticket.

Cadillac will sell a diesel version of its new CTS medium-premium sedan in Europe Link to Original Article @ Automotive News But the diesel won't be available immediately. "We expect at least 50 percent of CTS sales to be diesels," said Braakhekke, Cadillac Europe spokesman. Without being more specific, he said the diesel would come during the early part of the model's life cycle. Company sources say Italian engine manufacturer VM Motori will supply the CTS with a 3.0-liter, V-6 diesel with about 245hp. Cadillac needs to offer diesels to be more competitive against with German premium brands. About 70 percent of Audi's unit sales in Europe are diesels. For BMW t…

From Motortrend : Cadillac gets serious: CTS coupe and wagon coming-and an Audi A3-fighter for Europe By Editors of Motor Trend Art By Mark Stehrenberger Cadillac thinks it has a winner on its hands with the new CTS and wants to expand the CTS franchise with coupe and wagon variants. The strategy is similar to that employed by Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, which all build coupe and wagon variants of their entry-level sedans. The move will make the CTS more appealing to a broader range of buyers, particularly in Europe. So where does that leave the Europe-only Cadillac BLS? Built on the versatile Epsilon architecture, the front-drive BLS lacks the sporty handling and …

Seeing as GM has given the obvious green light to the CTS Coupe, what are the chances that this thing becomes a convertible? A retractable hard-top would definitely put it on the list of people looking at Benz CLK's and even SL500's or SC430's. But I do think a retractable hardtop Caddy CTS would render the current XLR osbolete both from a design and price standpoint. Anyway, I do think that if GM really wants to send BMW, Lexus, Audi, and Mercedes back to the drawing boards, they need to cover as many bases as they can with this car, and a retractable hardtop would do just that. CTC, CTC-V, CTC-D(iesel), CTC-H (Hybrid), CTC-R (Roadster Convertible). Here's a Photoshop I …

Sat in one today. Let me just say it was a huge turnoff. The dash and center stack area is okay, but everything else was pretty terrible. Seats were awful, both in terms of comfort and leather quality. Button/lever to release seatback to allow access to rear door seemed like it was about to break. The backseat was apparently designed for midgets. I realize the rakish roofline contributes to this, but ugh. I'm only 6' tall and I had absolutely no chance of sitting comfortably back there. If I was 5'6 I may have fit. Rear visibility is atrocious. I thought the Camaro had no rear visibility. The CTS coupe makes the Camaro seem like a greenhouse. Couldn't believe how diff…

Inside Analysis Cadillac CTS family could be 3-series fighters By DAVID SEDGWICK | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 12/26/06, 7:56 am et Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek DETROIT -- The Cadillac CTS sedan may be about to start a family. General Motors insiders say Cadillac is seriously considering a plan to create a family of CTS sedans, coupes and wagons that would emulate BMW's 3-series lineup. Kudos: Cadillac CTS Named Top Safety Pick by Insurance Group ARLINGTON, Virginia — Cadillac's redesigned 2008 CTS on Wednesday earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's Top Safety Pick award for 2008. Other winners in the category of "large luxury cars" include the Audi A6 and the Volvo S80. This means the trio earned the highest rating of "good" in the Institute's front, side and rear tests and are equipped with electronic stability control. The news is especially heartening for Cadillac. The 2003-'07 CTS was rated "poor" for rear crash protection. GM redesigned the seats in the 2008 CTS to earn a better rating. Anyone know what the difference between the standard traction control and stabilitrack is? This is what the cadillac web site says about the standard traction control "CTS comes standard with a sophisticated traction control system. It detects when a wheel is losing traction and applies a precise amount of brake pressure to the wheel until traction is regained. If slippage continues, engine speed is slowed until traction is regained." Is this the first gen stabilitrack? It sounds as if when skidding, it will apply the brake of one wheel, or more if needed. Anyone know about this?

GM has release video and lap times of 7:59 at the ring in their 550 HP beast. To put it into perspective the M3 ran a 8:05 and M5 ran an 8:13 if my report was correct. The Caddy was stock less the roll bar racing seat and required GM safety equipment. It is said to be the lap record for a stock sedan at the Ring. John H and his performance group has done it again. I suspect the ZR-1 will live up the the 7:20 estimates and the new Camaro should be sub 8 Min laps with the sSUpercharged engine and just over 8 Min in the SS Camaro witht he standard 400+ HP engine. We just got the Cobalt SS at 8.22 and HHR SS at 8.44 so GM just keeps em comin.

So how did the CTS fair in its first month on the market? Spectacular. Certainly, some of the sales were of the '07 model, but a good number of them had to be from the '08. Let's compare it to the competition: CTS 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 6416 BMW 3er sedan Sept 2007 sales: 7251 Infiniti G35 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3841 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sept 2007 sales: 6052 Acura TL Sept 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 4324 Lexus IS250/350 Sept 2007 sales: 3757 Audi A4/S4/RS4 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3437 As you can see, the CTS outsold everything but the vaunted BMW 3er sedan, and only missed beating it by 835 units. I'd say there's no doubt the new CTS is a grand slam!

According to this GM will decide between giving Cadillac a supercar, S-Class fighter, a high priced coupe (Bentley Continental GT or CLS fighter I would assume), or none of the above. Question is, if you had to choose one, which would it be? Personally, I'm voting for an S-Class fighter. I think the rest of Caddy's lineup would benefit from the image boost and a supercar would slightly overlap the XLR. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/03/12/100k-caddy-a-go-again/ I feel like this should have been posted already, is this being discussed somewhere else?

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com December 14, 2011 Today, Cadillac has revealed the powertrain lineup for their new ATS sedan. The lineup includes two fours and a six. The base ATS engine will be naturally aspirated 2.5L I-4 engine. GM hasn't released any details about it, but it looks like to be the same engine found under the new Chevrolet Malibu, which gets 190 HP and 180 lb-ft of torque. The next engine up is a 2.0L turbocharged I-4.Now before you go out and think this is the same engine you find in the Regal Turbo and GS, it's not. This 2.0L turbo is a part of a new Ecotec engine lineup and will use an electronically controlled twin-scroll turb…

Cadillac released the details of the upcoming 2016 Cadillac CTS-V to be shown at the Detroit Auto Show on January 13th, 2015. Capable of 200 mph, the supercharged 6.2 liter V-8 produces 640 hp at 6400 rpm and 630 lb-ft of torque at 3600 rpm, an increase of 84 hp and 79 lb-ft over the current model. The 0-60 time drops by two-tenths of second to 3.7 seconds. The new 6.2 liter employs a 1.7 liter super charger and adds direct injection and cylinder deactivation, premium fuel is required. Cadillac brags that these power numbers are greater than both the Mercedes-Benz 5.5L bi-turbo V8 and the 4.4L twin-turbo V8 from BMW. Getting all of that power to the ground is an 8-speed …

New Cadillac Escalade shines By Anita Lienert WASHINGTON, D.C. -- One of the most critical moments in the redesign of the Cadillac Escalade happened three years ago when the General Motors premium brand rented a Hollywood film studio for an evening, set up a full bar and invited A-list celebrities, athletes and rappers to preview an early version of the 2007 model. Oscar winner Adrien Brody -- who will soon take delivery of a 2007 Escalade EXT -- and the rest of the glittering crowd said they loved the new Escalade's added chrome and the exterior details borrowed from the legendary Cadillac Sixteen show car. But they also had a warning: The 20-inch wheels, the bigges…

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/04/detroit...lac-srx-reborn/ Almost exactly a year after revealing the Provoq Concept, Cadillac is debuting the redesigned 2010 SRX wearing essentially the same suit of clothes. At that time, the Provoq was thought to be a preview of a new smaller crossover called the BRX, but Cadillac informed us last summer that the "BRX" was actually the all-new SRX. We'll be seeing the new SRX in production form at the Detroit Auto Show, and while automakers often throw the term "all-new" around, in this case it really seems to apply. There is almost nothing carried over to this version of the SRX compared to the old one, although many of the greasy…

Ok, calm down, stop breakin $h! in your parent's basement, it's going to be ok. I'm not comparing the two cars, I'm simply curious as to what this first generation's legacy will be. I went into the day expecting to love the 3.6 and like the 2.0T simply because it exists. Much to my surprise, when the day was over I found myself wanting more highway pulls in the 2.0T, more chances to heel toe in the twisties, more, more more! The turbocharged 4 cylinder puts out 275hp/296 lb-ft of torque that is seemingly available at all times. I dropped the thing into 5th on an uphill left hand sweeper, put my foot in it and even at 2000rpm's I felt a substantial shove b…

Driving a '54 Cadillac to Amelia Island Original Article -Click here for additional pics Starting out for Mexico, but ending up in Florida By Steven Cole Smith Email Date posted: 04-26-2007 It's impossible to believe that anyone ever raced the length of Mexico in a 1954 Cadillac Series 62 like this, hammering down narrow asphalt roads in the middle of nowhere at 100 mph, dodging small children and dogs in little villages over the course of 1,908 miles in five days. That's because we can barely back it out of its tight parking spot on the top floor of the concrete garage at the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. We go back and forth, back and forth, back and…

Disclaimers: 1. This is only a review of the drivetrain. You all already have your opinions on the interior, etc. 2. I stepped out of my '04 CTS 3.6 auto into the CTS 2.8 manual. This was a direct comparison. 3. I drive my husband's manual transmission Passat regularly, so I'm not a manual newbie. The 2.8 seemed very rough. Noisy in fact. I felt I was in a substantially lesser car then my current CTS. At 80mph it was turning a very loud 3,000 rpm in 6th. Not impressive compaired to my car, and certainly not better then a S/C Riviera that can silently woosh along at 80mph doing about 2200 rpm. The gear shift throws are perfect. I was easily able to hit the ge…

I have been paying attention to the DTS lately. Not that I would buy one but, looking at the forward progress of its styling, there's a lot to praise. If you've heard me rant and rave about grilles, you know how much I like a grille that is sporty and is canted rearward. Kudos to Cadillac for a nicely executed sporty grille that is markedly Cadillac and fresh/youthful on their "beacon of the brand" model. I really like it. The roofline isn't bad either. The only part of the car that leaves me a little cold is the rear light assembly. Yes, accolades for the simplicity, but it's almost too simple relative to the front. I could think of a teeny bit more articulation…

Go to Cadillac.com or use GM's site to build a Cadillac and the hues Crimson Red, Glacier White, Blue Ice, and White Lightning are no longer optional. It looks like White Diamond replaced the whites but we still lost a blue and red. So if you want Crimson Red or the wonderful White Lightning then get it now! Although Diamond White is just as pretty!

Posted Aug 21st 2008 3:29PM by Jeremy Korzeniewski Filed under: Concept Cars, Sedans/Saloons, I.C.E., Cadillac 750-hp 7.5-liter V12 from the Cadillac Cien concept Here's a shocker: Cadillac has reportedly canceled plans for a range-topping V12 engine. Really, you don't say? Last we checked, General Motors didn't seem to have any problems extracting plenty of performance from its 6.2-liter supercharged and 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines, and the majority of the development work has already been done for a Caddy installation. Additionally, we've heard some rumors of a possible twin-turbo version of GM's excellent 3.6-liter direct injection six, which coul…

Click Here Cadillac's evolutionary throwback The 2007 Cadillac DTS is 17 feet long. Yet somehow it is so easy to overlook. When was the last time you noticed one? The full-size 2007 DTS is also the Cadillac that's habitually marginalized by the automotive press as a holdover, old-school Caddy driven only by very old men who smell strongly of medicinal salves or livery-service drivers who smell strongly of Drakkar Noir. Certainly there is some truth to these stereotypes. Assuming it wasn't a taxi, the last car that picked you up at the airport probably was either a Lincoln Town Car or a Cadillac DTS. It was black. And it smelled. And the only privately owned DTS that …

Article Date posted: 10-19-2006 DETROIT — General Motors has conceived plans for a compact entry-level Cadillac to help raise awareness of the brand and drive sales higher in Europe. Or at least it is if you believe the company's product boss, Bob Lutz. A three-ton, $54,000 mullet. BY DAVE VANDERWERP, PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEFFREY G. RUSSELL November 2006 Who would have predicted that this gratuitous union of a Chevy Avalanche with a Cadillac Escalade would have survived long enough to see a redesign? Certainly not us. When we first drove Cadillac’s pickup truck, we thought it made about as much sense as “an office desk that converts into a Hovercraft” or “mint-flavored Drano.” That was no skin off Cadillac’s nose, which found more than 40,000 takers from 2002 through 2005, apparently a sufficient number to justify a makeover similar to that of the Escalade SUV for 2007. This includes the 6.2-liter V-8 and six-speed a…

I wanted to round up a few different thoughts and rumors about the new CTS under one topic. It has been disucussed in various posts but not all at once, so here it goes... Is the new CTS being realigned with the BMW 5 series? The price has gone up in the new generation but it still drastically undercuts the 5er. The size of the cars are almost identicle. I'd say with the 3.6 pfi and CTS compares very favoriably with the new 528. The 3.6 DI is only about .2 slower to 60 than the 535 so there is a good competitor for that car. What there isn't right now is a non V series v8 option to combat the 550. I've heard and read rumors that the new dohc ultra v8 …

Family Car Findings: 2007 DTS Performance Sedan Don’t get the idea that Cadillac has forsaken the aging buyers who have made the DeVille/DTS the best-selling full-size sedan in the United States. Likely the only view that M5 drivers will have of the CTS-V Link to Autoblog It's been over 60 years since the Americans have so thoroughly trounced the Germans, but Inside Line has the numbers to prove it. The Edmunds news service had a chance to take the new Cadillac CTS-V (which we're driving in upstart New York as we speak) and its supercharged V8 for a spin around GM's Milford proving grounds and brought along its testing gear. The resulting bombardment ought to have the Germans thoroughly embarrassed and rebuilding for decades to come. The CTS-V ran the quarter-mile in a scant 12.5 seconds, besting the 12.7 it takes for either the BMW M5 or the Mercedes E63 AM…

Should Cadillac do a carbon fiber monocoque supercar with an American twist to rival the Ferrari 458? Such a vehicle will also put Caddy in the same field as the McLaren MP4-12C, Lamborghini Gallardo, Lexus LFA, Porsche 912, you name it). This will be a small volume vehicle probably around 2000 units a year and the carbon fiber chassis will probably be outsourced. It'll sell for around $150K. What GM has that the world doesn't is the light, compact, powerful and efficient small block V8. Unlike all the aforementioned cars, the Caddy will save a lot of money on powertrain development allowing it to spend more on the chassis and other finishings while selling the car for r…
