Okay, I LOVE peanut butter to the point that I usually have it once a day in some form. So, I'm really getting tired of this JIF $h!. I want my Peter Pan peanut butter back and I want it now dammit! Seriously, has anyone heard an update of any sort on this dire situation??? Is Peter Pan done for good or will it once again grace our shelves some day?

Am I the only smartass on the roads? I like to... make super wide turns in my truck at intersections... like it's a Kenworth or something, just to see the look on ppl's faces. I also like to pass someone reallllly slowly sometimes... Say the speed limit is 55 and they're going 50, I pass them at 51.5 mph. It's fun to act like I'm really gripping the wheel when I pass like I'm going about 95 mph. Anyone else have any fun on the roads?

I've received many complaints about me slamming people's car doors too heavily, in particular my friend's Mazda 3 and my sis' 323 (Protege). I just got so used to my cars with heavy doors. I personally like heavier ones, since it makes me feel safer. I'm always scared of sitting in cars with light doors, especially when you don't know when you will get side swiped. What do you prefer? Heavy or light?

Okay, it goes like this. I just got on the computer, and got to C&G into the lounge, and I happened to sneeze because right now my nose is running, sinuses are draining and blowing my nose happened to be the least of my concerns as a result of it. ~*Surprise!*~ I'm bleeding! From both barrels for a double treat. Ugh. I blame having to fuss over my nose due to the drainage, the dry weather, and possible veins too close to the surface. I mean, it's soo easy for me to bleed in the winter time and it bugs the crap out of me. My junior year in high school I did a report on hemophilia in my advanced biology class and consequently, my peers had to give me a hard time…

Hello All, We'll my coworker Chris has been all about Toyota, He bought a Prius and then when the Highlander came out in Hybrid form, he bought it. Now Chris while over all happy with his auto's was a bit disappointed in the milage out of his Highlander, he actually figured it would be just like his Prius. But unlike me and my Suburban, he has allways taunted me as a destroyer of the enviornment here in Seattle and how much better he was for having his hybrids. Now Electrical hell is starting to haunt him. His Highlander has almost 20K miles on it and it seems to always be going into the shop for little repairs. But the big story is what you all want to hear. H…

... there is no legitimate reason for a wholesale abandonment of the Zeta architecture. It is a product ready for release with all of its development money spent. It has been crtically acclaimed, and certainly sets a new standard for GM RWD. I will concede that in its present form its shelf life may be shorter than it would have been due to outside factors, but to toss it aside before letting it prove itself in our market is pure stupidity. If CAFE and fuel prices and currency issues pinch it back in the coming years, so be it. But to invite a huge and obvious loss when the product itself is so strong makes no sense. A pendulum swing back to all FWD all the time is …

my buddy who sometimes meanders upon our forums (mainly hangs out at the ranger forums but he wants back into an Fbody) dsfd506 is a state employee and brought up a video for me to watch. this is from our capitol city, the used car salesmen i think is fueling this without knowing (or caring) what he is sould be contributing to. its one thing to own an ex cop car but i cant help but think that maybe there are ulterior motives that could be afoot. what is your opinion. http://videos.thestate.com/vmix_hosted_app...1&sort=NULL

Make sure your sound isn't too high when you hit play. Rotor noise sped up 2000% doesn't sound so nice. Also make sure you put it on 720p. Though you might have to pause and let it load a bit before you hit play again with 720p. The funny thing was, it wasn't even my choice. I was given 3 airports to fly to, and this was the course it required.

And I was just looking at random past concept cars, and came across one that looked... well... familiar in a way. The 1997 Mazda MS-X. Minus the wrap around rear window, it looks like a miniature version of a softer A&S Cadillac.

A buddy of mine is getting a car for his son (he will be 16 in two weeks), and he has narrowed it down to a few choices: A cavalier and a Century. He is a good kid, and he loves cars. (and hates ricer cars). He currently has a 95 Escort he is fixing himself for a beater. (best way to learn) 2004 Crapalier LS- White, full power, sunroof, 2dr. Very good shape, only has 57k on it. Needs tires and a fuel filter. Lady actually puts Mobil 1 in it. He could get it for 2700.... 2001 Grandpa getter-tan, 82k, very clean, tiny bit of rust. fully loaded, needs nothing. 2800 bucks Which one would you choose for your kid?

I have a friend who had surgery on his shoulder recently. He won't be able to work for 8 weeks while he recuperates. This week, he's supposed to do as little as possible, so I got an idear to get him some reading material to help him pass the time. He's pretty heavy into sport compact cars. Real hot ones, not 25hp Type-R sticker hot, but turbo AWD hot. We have a little back-and-forth at times between the Corvette and the sport compacts. Anyway, I stopped at the VW dealership seeking a brochure on the R32, telling the attendant my story of a friend with nothing to do but recuperate. They were very nice, but told me no brochure was available for the R32. They gave…

Well, started a new little job on the side this week for a small used car dealership in St. Petersburg. I'm kind of their internet sales guy, taking pictures of the new arrivals and posting them up on Cars.com, Craigslist, etc. and trying to set up appointments for showings. Kinda fun and I must admit the fast-paced dealer environment is a little fun. Again, its a small lot (~25 cars), but it keeps pretty busy with 5-10 new cars in every week. Anyway, just thought I'd share. Here's an example of a listing I put together. Hopefully it makes you want to buy it! Clicky

Wed Aug 8, 1:13 AM ET WELLINGTON (Reuters) - A New Zealand couple is looking to call their newborn son Superman -- but only because their chosen name of 4Real has been rejected by the government registry. ADVERTISEMENT Pat and Sheena Wheaton say they will get around the decision by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages by officially naming their son Superman but referring to him as 4Real, the New Zealand Herald newspaper has reported. The Wheatons decided on the name after seeing the baby for the first time in an ultrasound scan and realising their baby was "for real". They decided 4Real was the best way to write it, but the name was rejected because the regi…

I hardly recognize the place - so much has changed. It is looking like at least one of my projects will be back in gear very soon, and I can't do a project without updating the appropriate thread with a blow-by-blow of the work and lots of pics. So I will be around starting pretty soon. It will not be right away, since I will have to switch-over to a new computer ( this one really doesn't function on C&G). Also, I need to get my camera back up and running first. That said, look for me to be showing up here more often in the near future.

Let the Lindsey hype begin: Vonn is Sports Illustrated cover girl By Chris Chase Lindsey Vonn is hoping the Sports Illustrated cover jinx doesn't cross international borders. America's great Winter Olympic hope is featured on the front of SI's Winter Olympic preview issue, which hit newsstands Wednesday. Vonn's semi-provocative pose has drawn the predictable ire from those who claim that it objectifies her. She's an athlete, not a sex symbol, the chorus inevitably reminds us. From womentalksports.com: Vonn is first a GREAT athlete, but she also represents norm of feminine attractiveness. The combination of athleticism and attractiveness make Vonn the…

I quit smoking. After trying the gum and having that fail miserably I went to my doctor and got a prescription for the stop smoking drug Chantix. It doesn't totally get rid of the cravings but it does make them more managable. After about 5 weeks I took myself off of it because I didn't like the side effects. I still fight with it everyday, but I won't cave in. I keep thinking of the money I am saving. This is the toughest thing I have done. For anyone out there trying to quit, good luck with it, I know how hard it is. Think of the money you'll save by quitting. I was checking through Craigslist, which is pretty addictive if you ask me, and came across this ad 1989 Camaro Yeah, I know, it's another 3rd gen Camaro. But, but, but, it's another convertible. It looks damn nice and the price is very reasonable. The only problem is that I have a full driveway already, not to mention garage. I have no plans to buy this one, unless of course the Cavalier sells real quick. If that were to happen, I might just pick this one up and consider selling my 89 RS Convertible. Hmmmmm...... Think Tammy would agree to it???

When I moved into my current house, I bought my 2WD RC/LB F-150. I worked in graphic design then, but I needed a truck for around-house work, hauling firewood, car parts, towing, etc. In '06, now in my 6th year of construction/excavation, going off-road on job sites, plus now having 2 sons, required me to get at least a crew cab/4WD truck, so I did (2nd hand '04). Forward to today, no longer in excavation but still doing contractor/construction... I occasionally ponder vehicle requirements, esp once a current driver approaches 100K. 2500HD has 91K+, gets a steady 16 MPG, is pretty big to drive around (doesn't bother me, but Jersey is getting tighter all the time). So for whatever reason I was daydreaming the other day and started wondering what gives certain cars their distinctive exhaust note. Is it the muffler only or the engine, or all sorts of things? Now before I get flamed terribly, I have installed and/or have been around cars with full turbo-back exhaust systems, cat-back systems, and just universal mufflers on them. I see how they completely change the exhaust note. But the muffler from a V8 car put on a 4-cyl, isn't alone going to make the 4cyl sound like that V8. So the engine has to be a part of it as well as the pipe diameter. Take for instance Pontiac...there is a distinctive sound that a Pontiac makes(thinki…

Winter in NY sucks for one more reason. Potholes. By early March, these things aren't mere holes in the road, and in many cases, they're unavoidable. Case in point: late tonight I was on my way home doing around 35 when a trench (no, really) caught my eye about 10 feet ahead. I would've gladly swerved around this monster, but it crossed all 4 lanes of the road. With nowhere to go and not nearly enough time to stop, I took a deep breath and hit it straight on. This thing rocked my car hard enough for me to feel it. Luckily, my front bumper was saved, but I'm sure my suspension felt it. Ouch. How a crater this deep could even be allowed to exist is beyond me. …

This weekend, while we were working on the lawn, I had Tammy move the Vette away from the garage so I could take care of the grass around that area. Ok, Tammy doesn't drive a stick shift very often, and had never driven our 2000 Corvette, so I told her to take it out and get some practice while I finished up around the garage. That was a mistake. She came back with one of the biggest smiles on her face that I have ever seen. Then she promptly asked if she could take to work on Tuesday (today). Tammy considers some of the cars hers and some mine. I think of them all as ours. So, she will ask to drive one of 'my' cars before driving it. Well, she's at work and so i…

I found these photos of two Opels and for some reason I like them. Does anyone know the years? I had never seen these before.

With all the (some would argue: overblown) current [no pun intended] attention on electric vehicles, might be interesting to acknowledge some past efforts. In the very early days of the industry, they met with considerable success, at the detriment to gasoline-powered vehicles, sales-wise. But there were a whole slew of occasional proposals, some which were merely concepts, some which were intended to but never saw production, others which eked out a small run. OK, this may seem a strange thing to say at 10:00 AM but I am having a hard time getting to sleep. I work graveshift and Friday mornings are always hard for me to get to sleep since I am thinking about the weekend. So, here I sit at the computer on my favorite forum, having a beer and some whiskey. Hopefully, this won't last long and I will feel ready for some much needed rest. (Last night was a pain)

News Release • March 5, 2006 New crash tests of midsize cars: BMW 3 series & Lexus IS earn 'Top Safety Pick,' but new Ford Fusion disappoints ARLINGTON, VA — Crashworthiness evaluations for seven new or redesigned midsize car models reflect performance in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's front, side, and rear impact tests. The models include three moderately priced cars — Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, and Pontiac G6. The other four models are luxury/near luxury cars — Acura TSX, BMW 3 series, Infiniti G35, and Lexus IS. The best overall performers are the BMW 3 series and Lexus IS, which earned the silver 'Top Safety Pick' designation for good perform…

So I showed my dad the UTE and Commodore wagon today, and he didn't really care much for either of them (he really likes the G8). He thought the UTE was pretty stupid as a Pontiac, and he didn't really like the wagon, or see much point in it (says most people would just buy a crossover). This is coming from someone who isn't a car enthusiast, but certainly more interested in them than the average Joe. Just thought I'd share, since I thought it was interesting that he is considering a G8 but doesn't like either of the other two variants.

Sort of a folk/punk/techno fusion kind of thing with some operatic undertones and just a whispering aftertaste of house. We'll call ourselves "The Gay Sulus." What's the name of your band? http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif

Check out the wild sound effects. Looks like somebody had too much fun with a keyboard. This reminds me of the video we watched in driver's ed about the dangers of semi trucks....really boring, drawn out, and old (the kids in the movie had mullets if that says anything). I think 3/4 of the driver's ed class slept through that one.

I'm excruciatingly bored right now and I happened to notice that innocent ol' Ocn surpassed the comatose Fly as master of the post count. In other news, as of yesterday, a distributor has been ordered and is on it's way. I'm quite excited to bring life back to my Milly. Well, if I don't have any more obstacles to tackle. Hopefully the battery will still hold a charge. It's ancient and has been dead for a good 9 months now. As well, having sat for so long certainly couldn't have been any good for it. I'll be sort of sad if any new issues pop up. Whatever it takes, though. I need to get it back on the road so I can stop polluting poor little Ramsaytown and hand the Cutla…

So here is the counterpart to our 4.0-Up FI Dream Garage thread. As the title explains, we will use naturally aspirated engines of AT LEAST 5.0 liters of displacement this round. And yes, I know I skipped the 4.something class. That was intentional. Rules- 1)These are your only cars. 2)Production only. 3)Maximum of 5 choices. 4)Any era and market is allowed. 5)Must have N/A engines with 5.0 displacement or greater. Have fun.

My dad decided to buy another motorcycle. A classic 1975 Honda XL175 with an extremely low 340 miles. It runs pretty well for having sit in someone's basement for decades. It's rusty in spots, but overall it's in decent condition. All original and as I mentioned, has only 340 miles. Has a small fuel leak and the clutch sticks sometimes, but that's basically all that's wrong with it. He heard about it from a coworker who didn't want it anymore.. He couldn't resist it. This, after he told me he couldn't afford to help out with the distributor I need. I have no idea what he paid for it, exactly, but I'm quite positive that it was more than $400.

As I've alluded to previously, I recently found myself a second job to give myself more security, financially. Now having a loan payment and feeling obliged to upgrade to full coverage insurance, I can't live off my part-time hours at the Pharmacy, alone. The idea is that one job will cover those new expenses while I have the other for miscellaneous spending and saving. Essentially, I've jumped right in and am now logging 50 hours per week, working 7 days a week. Alot of times, I will work both jobs in one day for starting at 4 am and generally lasting until 5-7 pm. It's mentally draining, especially when I'm not able to get the sleep I need. I just had a day like t…

I think I've finally succeded in making a definitive list of my next car (yeah, right). It's down to these four: 1. 2001+ Volvo S60 (2.4T or T5 likely) 2. 2004+ Pontiac Grand Prix (GT or GTP) 3. 2000-2003 Nissan Maxima 4. 2002-2006 Nissan Altima (3.5SE or SE-R) The common thing for me in all of these cars is liking the looks, sounds, and powertrains (of the above-mentioned versions) of all of these. These can all be had for around the same price (maybe not the SE-R or T5). So if you were in my shoes, which would you choose. Please be as objective as you can.

check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1982-Nissan...1QQcmdZViewItem If only it were 2000 miles closer and the price $300 (like my '84) versus $3000. I'd buy it and make a beater out of it... run it on vegetable oil (bio-fuel) and then hold on to it for a spare car/parts car. :P

That time of year again, opening day is tomorrow. Well, the real opening day, those two games in Tokyo dont count. Hopefully this season ends a little better for my Cubbies, the 3-game sweep out of the playoffs sucked. A World Series title would be great, a pennant would be ok. It will be nice watching the Cards lose. Predictions: AL East - Red Sox AL Central - Indians AL West - Mariners AL Wild Card - Tigers NL East - Mets NL Central - Cubs NL West - Rockies NL Wild Card - Phillies World Series - Cubs over Indians

Some vehicles just have that urban feel. Slick and sophisticated, a person would be downright scared to drive them on a dirt road, much less buy one if you live beyond the suburbs. Other cars, meanwhile, just have that country air about them, they speak plainly to their prospective buyers that they can hold up when the blacktop ends. Post your city car/country car picks here, if you so desire. Here's two to get started: City car: Chevrolet Equinox Country car: Jeep Liberty

I just put an ad in the local issue of Auto Locator for my truck, a classified ad magazine available at most newsstands. $34 for two weeks, it comes out weekly. I have to wait for it to be approved Monday morning for publication in the next issue, and inclusion in their online classifieds. I need bites!
