Rt. 110 in Westford, Massachusetts. This is one of the biggest "cruise nights" in all of New England. Great selection of cars from the pre-war stuff to rare modern exotics. Once in a blue moon you even see a $ix digit "trailer queen" driven in or brass era car or truck. Here's just a few of the cars there last Thursday. I may post more later but this is just a sample. Two weeks ago there was a 1932 Cadillac. I'll post that photo as soon as I dig it up. This '57 is powered by a 427 and is half daily driver half show car. It's owned and was built from the ground up TWICE by my friend Mike's dad... some of you may remember a photo of this car next to my Mad M…

You guys are gonna love this one. The most intense, terrifying, visually spectacular, thrilling, amusement ride of a movie. Peter Jackson is the new Steven Spielberg. This is the movie War of the Worlds should have been. Most. Incredible. Film-going. Experience. Ever. Most. Ever. Is that enough hype? Good, cause you still won't believe how good it is.

Costco has hired you to revamp their automobile program. Instead of offering discounts on other brands they've decided to market their own line under their Kirkland Signature brand. You have to create a model line up using other manufactures products rebranded. You'll need broad appeal. You'll also need to change the designs slightly so you can't exactly tell what it's badge engineered from. What are you going to offer? What cars, trucks and SUV's will you offer? What'll you call them? Create your lineup for Kirkland Signature Motors!

"Suck, squeeze, bang, blow. These are the four cycles of the reciprocating, internal-combustion engine (ICE) Nikolaus Otto patented in the 19th century. The action of the intake valves that allow an engine to breathe and the exhaust valves that let it expel spent gases were, until very recently, defined by a shaft of eccentric lobes rotating twice as fast as the engine’s crankshaft. Cams still spin twice as fast as the crank in the modern engine, but advances like camshaft phasing, or changing the relative opening and closing of valves in relation to the crank position, thus improving efficiency and performance, are commonplace. Honda’s VTEC actually changes the cam…

I don't know how to describe how angry I became when I had to watch this ad (the batteries in my remote had died and, by the time I had decided to change the channels myself, it was already too late). Personally, I didn't want to be reminded of Black Friday. I didn't want to be reminded that Thanksgiving has become nothing more than a national holiday where people don't so much as cherish the opportunity to spend the day with their family and loved ones and instead just eat massive quantities of food so that they can muster up the strength to wait in line in front of a department store where they'll ultimately be trampled to death to buy some piece of $h! low-quality good…

All right, most people who have been on the forum here know I am NOT crazy about lesbians. I am fairly indifferent to gay men. However, lesbians carry such negative energy that I can't dismiss it and thus dislike them. My first run-in with a lesbian was at a place of employment a few years after college in So. Cal. She was my immediate supervisor. I had NO clue she was a lesbian, but how quickly you learn. I just thought she was a woman who preferred short hair and had a thick, squatty frame. We would go to company sites and had to turn in expense reports upon returning from the trip. Even though there was a minimum below which you didn't have to itemize, I tend t…

LA Autoshow will be farewelling the year 2009 which possibly christened itself as the bloodbath for the Automobile History. What cars do you think GM will debut or would you like GM to debut at the LA Autoshow 2009? Do you think GM has something up its restructured sleeves which will give some us enthusiasm and excitement for us or just reinforce sentiments in some of us that GM is competing for appliance king badge with Toyota? GM will be a stronger force in this year's Autoshow circuit with a display of bette…

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/10/la-time...ear-i/#comments NBC is inching closer to finalizing the cast for the American version of the hit BBC series Top Gear, but it looks more and more like Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Tim Allen won't be part of the program. Reportedly to be called just "Gear", the show is anticipated to include four presenters instead of the BBC's three – although one could be assuming the role of The Stig as the show's test driver. Adam Carolla announced on his radio show that he'd be taking part in the program. Formula D driftmaster Tanner Faust is also tipped to be on the show (possibly in the aforementioned test driver role). However Dan Neil,…

Alright... anyone have plans for Labor Day weekend? If so, what are they? If not... and you live in my general area... There's the Knox Dale Fireman's homecoming that I talked about a while ago. It'd be a good chance for some of you guys to meet me... see Brookville... etc. You can camp out there with a tent... or a camper of some sort (not an actual camp ground... so no luxuries like water/electric hook ups). Basically, there's campfires, partying, consessions, games, raffles, bingo, entertainment, demo derby, volley ball, and softball. Starts Friday, main days are Sat and Sun, while it ends Monday. I stay all four days since I usually have nothing better to do. Wel…

So I have been traveling for business and Enterprise was kind enough to honor my request for a GM "premium" car with an 08 LaCrosse. I know most people are poo-pooing the 3.8, but inside this car, you can barely hear it at all. Also, when at highway speeds, the car barely goes over 2,000 RPMs which keeps the car rather quiet. Inside the car, there is plenty of head room, the gauges are nice, the wheel with the radio and cruise controls is a nice feature, but there is no AUX/IPOD jack in the radio, which peeved me as I could not hook up my IPOD or Stilletto2 Sirius radio. I loved the seat with the power adjustment/lumbar. My mileage through highway traffic and San Francisc…

I'm going to Lake Havasu this weekend, with the gf and her family... ... you are probably thinking "so what," and wondering why I would bother mentioning it... Well, they just bought a boat... the fastest boat I will probably ever ride in... It has a twin whipple charged 542 (I think that's the correct displacement), making 1300 hp! This thing is estimated to go 120 mph on the water! I just hope I don't piss my pants. I have never seen two superchargers, side by side, on one intake manifold... it's sweet!

It seemed like a headache, nothing more. But when pain killers and a trip to the emergency room didn't fix Aaron Evans, the 14-year-old asked his dad if he was going to die. "No, no," David Evans remembers saying. "We didn't know. And here I am: I come home and I'm burying him." What was bothering Aaron was an amoeba, a microscopic organism called Naegleria fowleri that attacks the body through the nasal cavity, quickly eating its way to the brain. The doctors said he probably picked it up a week before while swimming in the balmy shallows of Lake Havasu. Such attacks are extremely rare, though some health officials have put their communities on high alert, telling peo…

By Diane Sweet 9/21/08 8:01 PM Republican presidential hopeful Sen. John McCain started out his day-long Michigan visit last week with a surprise stop at an Oakland County General Motors Corp. plant. McCain toured GM’s Lake Orion assembly plant that makes Chevy Malibus and Pontiac G6s. With his wife Cindy McCain by his side, McCain shook hands with plant workers. But he met some opposition. I doubt the McCain’s will be visiting the GM plant again anytime soon. For me- #1. Betetta GTZ and Calais Quad Four Olds. You guys know of my love of small cars, these two are just awesome, and I think about them all the time. #2. 1964 Chevy Malibu SS....Everyone thinks of the 64 GTO, 64 SS Chevelle is a nice design, you see 65's but not 64's. #3. 49 Olds 88...larger motor, lighter body15 years before the GTO. Paced the Indy 500 that year. #4. Lumina Z34...came with a five speed, wore the understated look of the GM era well... #5. 1926 Pontiac...god clean first year design for Pontiac. Only seen a few in my life but they seem damn near perfect. Your lists....?

This Friday, a long chapter in the history of Volkswagen AG ends when the last air-cooled motor will be hoisted into a vehicle seen as a museum piece almost everywhere else across the planet. VW is being forced to change the minivan's historic rear-mounted engine because of a new Brazilian emissions law to reduce pollution that goes into effect in 2006. Production {of the van] will continue next year, but the van known here as the "Kombi" will get a new water-cooled motor and a radiator for the first time. The switch marks the last hurrah for the simple engine developed in the 1930s by famed German engineer Ferdinand Porsche, his key element of a "…

So I had some circa '71 GM seatbelt buckles laying around, left over from the Cutlass days (these didn't work because GM had changed the buckle/harness design in '72). Deciding not to let them go to waste, I decided it would be cool to put them to good use. After a few cigarettes, some glue and thread, and a cheap-o Dickies strap I had snagged for free later, I had this: Yeah, the pic sucks. Cut my 3GS some slack. Sure, Levy's makes a seat belt strap, but it's nowhere as cool as this. While Levy's claims that they use real, recycled buckles, you only have to take one look at their straps to see that it's obvious they're just blowing hot air. However, this is made from…

When you're away from Long Island, you love it and when you're there, you don't. You think if you're not from Long Island or NYC, you're not really from New York. The Hyundai Accent is rebadged in the Mexican market as the Dodge Attitude. The current generation and last generation were both rebadged. The older generation at least switched the Hyundai logos for some odd oval ones with the Dodge logo in the center. The new generation just leaves the Hyundai badges in place (both front and back!)... very confusing.

My girlfriend's 17" Dell flat-panel LCD monitor went out yesterday. Well, not 'out' but darkened almost completely. I think its the inverter or CCFL lamps and I've seen a couple of sites showing how to replace them with a soldering iron. My question is - is this something doable ourselves or what?

Okay, I know this is a loaded question, because everybody will have "their" own favorite brand to recommend. A close friend of mine wanted me to go with him 42" LCD TV shopping this afternoon, mainly because he can't fit what he wants to buy in his '05 Grand Prix and needed me for my Envoy (friends with trucks ). I really didn't mind though, because I haven't spent much time with Jeff lately. Anyway, a we started off at Best Buy to see what deals they had. He looked at LG, Samsung, Toshiba, and Sony there. Next was Cicuit City, with pretty much the same offering, but adding in Westinghouse. Last stop was at BJ's Wholesale Club, where he looked at a Philips, Ole…

So I was all set to go buy a nice LCD flat screen this week. I figured I would get one of the Bravias or this Samsung: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1218076081627 I walk into Best Buy and Samsung's new LED TV was there: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1218065985439 Man its incredible. Hanging next to the LCD's, it's pretty easy to see how much better the LED is. Originally I was thinking I'd spend about as much as the Samsung LCD is. Heh, but how can I not get the superior LED product? Anyone have an uncle who works at Best Buy? Anyone know a reason I shouldn't get the LED? Other than the fact that Im sure they will be hundreds l…

Well, My main 26" tv in the bedroom is about 14-15 years old and runs great, but we have no TV in the living room and the wife wants one, to get the kid out of the kitchen where our cheap 20" tv is. We have NO full height wall space in the living room, but we do have a pseudo mantel above the gas fireplace in the center of the wall. There is a wall with the window sill at 60" and room for a TV or cabinet below, buit its in the corner kind of. I originally though 1000 bucks would do it, now I'm not sure. Might take 2 grand. I'd like to try to get at least 37-40" atop the fireplace. Might have to settle for 32". Could go 50" proj TV if i go below the side windows. …

It's almost that time of year again! Whose getting excited for it? I know I am. Who do we think is gonna take the overall win? I think Porsche have a pretty good chance at taking a win. Toyota they just don't seem to be able to match the pace, and it's anyones guess as to how the Nissan entry is going to go. No prizes for guessing who the favorites are to win though.

went to a site that i used to frequent due to the wealth of information on 69 chevys. they had this little feature posted It’s 1970 and you’re enjoying a day at the strip. The typical cars file up to the line and charge from the gate. Then you see a 4,500-lb ’69 Chevy Kingswood 9 passenger wagon lumber up to the line, its massive body dwarfing everything else around. They can’t be serious! What’s that doing here? Before you can contemplate further, it launches down the ¼ mile and thunders across the line a mere 12.41 seconds later, at 111.88 mph. Stunned, you can’t help but think “What the hell just happened??” Well, the explanation is simple. This particular Kings…

Article My favorite quote: BOB LUTZ, GM's vice chairman of global product development: "Now that we have the 35 miles-per-gallon fuel economy mandate by 2020, I am hoping that in 2008 'Professor Doktor' David Friedman (research director, clean vehicles program, Union of Concerned Scientists) and his 'highly-qualified' band of allegedly concerned, self-proclaimed scientists will turn their energy toward showing the world's automotive industry exactly how those numbers, using existing technology and 'costs of a few hundred dollars at the most' can be attained with a vehicle selection that even remotely resembles the cars and trucks Americans want to buy today."

There are things we all love doing that are car-related. I really enjoy washing my car an, given the time, I like changing my own oil. There are a couple of things I really dont like to do. One is vacuum the interior. I like keeping my car clean but I hate doing this which sucks because I have black everything and any bit of dirt shows. Another interior related thing I dislike is cleaning up from the night before. If the night before was a bad one, chances are there is blood or vomit in the back seat. If the night before was good, possibly some other fluids. Either way there are probably handprints and fingerprints all over the windows. But my absolute least favo…

Well boyz I'm off to Detroit tomorrow, I have something on my plate the rest of this week and next. Also NAIAS is almost here too. Where did the year go, it just seems like yesterday that we were looking at the stunning Cadillac CTS at last year's NAIAS. Oh well, 3 weeks in Detroit, I wonder how much havoc I can create there? My whereabouts after that are anyone's guess. I will try to check in from time to time and give y'all some Börger Lovin! :AH-HA_wink:

Hey guys, On thursday I'm leaving with the family and one of my friends to Maui. We are staying at Napili. My family has been there a couple times before, and I've been once before when I was a lot younger. I don't remember too much from it. My buddy is excited because he hasn't been there before, and he loves fish so he is planning on snorkeling and scuba/snuba diving and just hanging out in the water for the most part. Does anyone know of any activities to do around there? Like in the Ka'anapali area or Lahaina or wherever? There will always be the snorkeling/diving options, but I was also thinking maybe parasailing, or personal watercraft rentals or just something a …

I fly back to Germany this weekend to start my new job @ BMW ... I look forward to starting a new automotive chapter in my life ... I won't be around as much as I was in the past, to some I'm sure that is good news ... Just remember I was only a messenger ... I will miss the good folks @ GM, the bad ones, not so much ... 20 years is a long time at one company these days, but looking back on my career at GM, I had a blast and wouldn't trade my memories for anything ... I will keep my eye on GM, I worry for it's future. I will pop in from time to time on C&G, but will rarely post anymore ... To those of you going to BMW because of Pontiac's shutdown, I'll see you on…

There are rumblings in various states about legalizing pot. I think it's only a matter of time before it happens nationwide. So, I'm just curious, if pot becomes legal and generally available, would you start using it if you don't already? If you already use pot, would you use it more? I tried it a couple of times in college and didn't like how it affected me. I say legalize it if they want, but I won't be using it.

How the big ones fall hard. Lehman one of the pinnacles of investment banking and dream for many young banker grads may probably cease existence after tonite. This may very well be a wake up call for the big riches to get some sense and stop playing with money of others. I feel sorry for the "foot soldier" employees who will lose their income. Never blame the soldier who fights on the battlefield because he is just taking orders from the chieftains. My dad who is back in India and has no knowledge of what is happening day to day in US gave a good historical evidence. He said that in 19th century before a presidential election (he does not recollect who was elected) …

I've got two local SCCA guys who have the money and skill to pull this off...and Z06 seems to have the money and determination to pull this off. That makes four of us. Will keep you posted, but it looks like we will be running at Gingerman, which is a tight, technical track, should be actually good for newbie drivers. Chris

Trying to work things out for a LeMons car...I'll post more later. I'm going to hook up with an SCCA tech guy who is going to teach me about rollcages... I have a POSSIBLE source for some used safety equipment. Said Possible, don't get your hopes up yet. But possible. Checking out problems/issues with running an autotrajic in a race like this. Speeds at LeMons are a good bit slower than a typical SCCA/NASA type race, so I am much less worried about things than I was the last time I posted. Tend to be a guy who worries about and over analyzes everything....however...that has served well for the 44 years I've been on the planet. Looking into cages if we do run…

Who here would like to get a GM car together for a run at LeMons? It's the race for $500 beaters that was in the link with the MR2 racing the Buick. Talking with people here that would like to possibly start a C and G team, let us know. Maybe we can actually get Oldsmoboi out from behind his computer and behind the wheel... This thread is for any comments or ideas, no matter how crazy or unrealistic. We are just in the talking stages/dreaming stages now, BUT...we can make this a reality if we want to. Thinking of perhaps running a J body Cavalier...but would be open to other choices. Although we may lose dave87rs as a forum member if the Cavalier is chosen …

I've noticed recently a rash of posters sixty8 who fail to properly punctuate, or use any punctuation at all. It makes your posts verry difficult to read which increases the liklihood your posts will be skipped over. First things first, the first letter of the first word of a sentence is capitalized, that means it is bigger, i.e. Y as compared to y. At the end of a sentence, place a period or a question mark (looks like this--> ?) if your sentence is a question. Its basic grammar, not too hard most people who aren't from Alabama have been doing it since 2nd grade. Now please, it isn't too hard, so do it.

I went to the restroom at work today (I had just been outside, so my hands were freezing, my wang is still hiding from me) and while I was standing there doing my business, I heard a phone ring. Then I heard someone answer the phone. Curious, I looked and saw one set of feet in one of the stalls. The dude was sitting on the toilet and he answered his phone. Why? That just seems wrong and icky. I dont want to be talking to someone while they're pooping.

Well, it's been awhile since I've posted anything... And I'm sorry to say this, but... Actually, I'm not sorry at all. My mom's getting rid of her '05 Durango because Friday we went and picked her up a 2007 Rendezvous! If you haven't been keeping tally, let me clarify the impact this makes: my dad was looking for a new vehicle a year or two ago and I convinced him to pick up an '05 Grand Prix instead of a Stratus Coupe. Then, I went and bought myself a 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged. And, on top of that, my mom just leased out this '07 Rendezvous. Three cars in our driveway, one from '05, '06, and '07 and all of them are GMs. I finally convinced my parents to get an all-GM …

So, a '03 Tahoe pulls onto the lot yesterday. A nice couple gets out, wanders around the show room. I greet them. They've had the truck for a year, they say, and their salesperson (whom they readily admit they don't like) told them that after a year or so they should be able to trade the truck in. (Oh, oh, I am thinking. Get out the backhoe.) So, I do a little more investigating. Mr. Customer's credit wasn't great a year ago, so Mrs. Customer had to co-sign. (Better make sure there is lots of gas in the backhoe.) Did you have a trade, or put any money down when you got it, I ask. No. (I'm going to need a special city permit for the size of this hole.) How …
