Looks pretty nice from the spy shots, but it seems though that it is similar in form to a Caliber (the height and length.) Codenamed 'JC49'. 08 intro with 09 model year plans. Based on floor plan of Sebring/Avenger. THIS IS from WINDING ROAD: http://news.windingroad.com/trends/spied-n...over/#more-3604 Dodge engineers have begun testing prototypes for a new crossover vehicle to do battle with the Ford Edge, Toyota Highlander, and the rest of the burgeoning crossover crowd. This all-new model–known internally as the JC49–is based on the just-released Chrysler Sebring and soon-to-be Dodge Avenger sedans, although this spin-off is clearly larger than its platform-m…

Chrysler 300C gets slight revamping for 2008 Even though we caught this Chrysler going through a fast-food drive-thru, it doesn't appear that this facelift is super-sized. A slightly revamped 300C is expected to roll off the production line in the third quarter of 2007, but it appears that the majority of the update will take place in the rear of the car. First Look: 2011 Chrysler 300 Prepare for Glory: Our 2005 Car of the Year Returns With Sharper Duds and a lot More Swagger December 03, 2010 / By Ed Loh / Photography by Brian Vance The golden crest is gone, but the Chrysler name is still spelled out and surrounded by a pair of wings atop the front-grille frame. The eggcrate grille has been swapped for one composed of sculpted horizontal slats, as seen on the Chrysler 200 and Town & Country (and, unfortunately, the Hyundai Sonata). Projector-beam headlights have evolved to incorporate must-mean-it's-luxury LEDs. Although the windshield is more steeply raked, the upright proportions, boxy roofline, and pur…

Chrysler's SEMA surprise: 392 HEMI Dodge Challenger Super Stock While in the past automakers have always used SEMA to display the individual customizations that can be applied to their production vehicles, Dodge is doing something different this year. For what it claims to be the first time ever, the company has unveiled a concept vehicle that has been customized specifically for the SEMA show. Based on the Dodge Challenger Concept that debuted at the 2006 Detroit auto show, the Dodge Challenger Super Stock Concept is a one-off concept built to commemorate the original HEMI 392 engine, as well as showcase Mopar's new 392 HEMI crate engine. The new 392 can be ordered in o…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=107108 Dodge was noncommittal about the production prospects of the Dodge Nitro concept when it first appeared at the 2005 Chicago Auto Show, but nobody was fooled. It looked ready for production and our latest spy pictures prove that the 2007 Dodge Nitro is headed for showrooms. The pictures clearly show that little has changed on the Jeep Liberty-based Nitro from its concept. There's none of the extensive chrome trim that adorned the flashy concept, but it does look as though it will keep a fairly aggressive set of wheels and tires. The Nitro's looks are also said to be derived in part from the quirky …

Didn't see this posted anywhere, so I thought I would post it as a new topic. The front and rear restylings look great (especially that new grille), but I still wonder how well the restyled ends will gel with the carried over middle section. None of these teaser shots really give you any idea of how the entire car will look (which I guess is the point). Looks promising so far, though. Link Fiat CEO warns Chrysler unions: cut costs or we walk REUTERS April 15, 2009 By Gilles Castonguay MILAN (Reuters) - Fiat SpA's chief executive, facing a two-week deadline to work out a partnership with Chrysler LLC, warned the troubled U.S. carmaker's unions he would ditch the idea unless they agreed to cut labor costs. In a clear message to U.S. and Canadian unions, Sergio Marchionne told Wednesday's Globe and Mail newspaper a deal on the partnership had only a 50-50 chance of succeeding because of lack of progress in talks with union leaders. "Absolutely we are prepared to walk. There is no doubt in my mind," Marchionne said in an interview posted on t…

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will produce no more passenger cars in the U.S. early next year. The Dodge Dart will end production in September, while production of the Chrysler 200 will cease in December. This is to make way for more production of SUVs and trucks - Jeep Cherokee at Belvidere, Illinois and Sterling Heights, MI for the next-gen Ram 1500. "By the time we finish with this, hopefully, all of our production assets in the United States — if you exclude Canada and Mexico from the fold — all those U.S. plants will be producing either Jeeps or Ram," said FCA CEO Sergio Marchionne during a call with analysts yesterday. Why would FCA end passenger car production …

What do you guys think Chrysler should do with the next PT Cruiser? Rumor has it that it will lose all retro style and look like any other CUV in its next gen. I think that with everygen, it should be styled in a new decade. This one is supposed to look like a 40's car? Well, the next gen should have 50's styling. and so on.

I actually just got back from the dealer. Here's how it went: I went to the dealer around 4pm today. After talking with the service technician, he recommended that I leave it be for now because it would got 90 bucks an hour and it's a 2 hour or so job for a couple of bulbs. He was pretty honest with me. He told me they'd fix it if I wanted but it's pretty expensive for a couple of bulbs. As long as it's readable it's fine. He also gave me a discount card for oil changes. Basically it's a dollar off the first oil change, and a dollar is added until the 5th one...which is free. Anyway, I walk into the showroom and see the salesman (whose name is Eric). We greet and talk …

2011 Chrysler Lineup Impressions Saturday I finally got around to checking out some of the new metal. Stopped by Salvadore Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep in Gardner. It was late in teh afternoon so the photos kinda suck due to lack of daylight, but it is what it is. First up is the Chrysler 200. In the flesh you can still see its Sebring routes, but its amazing what a nose job and a nice butt will do for the car. There's some nice detailing on the exterior, like how the chrome trim on the rear fascia mimics the grill trim. I really like the LED piping on in headlights, and the detailing of the tail lights. Inside, the interior is much improved. Gone is the cheap gray, p…

Unloved as they are, let's give Chrysler's K Car its due. Thirty years ago, the K represented a sea change in the Pentastar lineup. Not only did the K and its derivatives return Chrysler to the black, the architecture proved versatile enough to underpin basically the entire lineup, from minivans to LeBarons to turbocharged Daytonas. Southern California now has an official K Car club – fitting, as that's likely the only place you could find an early '80s Chrysler without lots of rust. Club membership is open to the entire swath of cars that share this similar architecture, known as the "EEK" models, so you won't get kicked out for showing up in a Caravelle instead of an Ar…

The move will increase capacity for Jeep, Ram, and Dodge Durango. $1.6 billion will go to the Mack Avenue Engine complex to convert the site into a manufacturing facility for the next-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee and an all-new three-row full-size Jeep SUV. This will create 3,850 new jobs. $900 million will go to Jefferson North for retooling and modernization for production of the Dodge Durango and next generation Jeep Grand Cherokee. I just got a look at the new Sebring while driving around the Bay Area. I saw the ribs on the hood and the chunky (Altima-ish) rear greenhouse and super short trunk, not to mention the all too visible gas tank. Good God! While the previous Sebring / Stratus were not the pinnacle of automotive design, they were at least proportioned and likeable. Then, let's add a few more "grandiose" designs to their stable: - the entire truck line with that bulbous grille which says I need to buy my testosterone because I don't have it within, or for some guys (and maybe girls) who do have it but need an exaggerated amount - the 300 and the Magnum - again, bombastic proportions …

Yesterday, I had to do an administrative errand that involved some important paperwork and traveling between Northern California and Northern Nevada. So, I went on-line and rented an ECONOMY car from one of the majors. Upon arriving at the lot, there were no $ 18.99 economy cars, so I knew an upgrade was in order for the same price. The people in front of me were given a Jeep but I wanted something with an actual trunk, so the lady gave me a base model Chrysler 300. Now, I've probably posted before that I am quite disenchanted with the styling of most Chrysler products...and the 300 is no exception. I don't like the grille, the greenhouse and the squatty proportion…

I was driving along the other day, and I noticed that the Calgary Police Service is replacing their Impalas, and to a smaller extent, their Crown Vics with Dodge Chargers... from what I saw, it looked real mean with a reinforced bumper, steel wheels and a blacked out grille (Sorry, no pics). This has led me to ask the question- is Dodge winning back favour in the police market... How have these cars caught on elsewhere?

Chrysler Dropping SWB Minivans The Chrysler group is betting that new crossover models will woo minivan buyers now that the automaker is dropping short-wheelbase minivans. Industry sources say the automaker will offer two mid-sized crossovers, developed on its new front-drive Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger platform. The Chrysler crossover will debut either in late 2008 or 2009. The United Auto Workers and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have reached a tentative labor agreement for a four-year contract the union and FCA said today. While details were not provided, the main framework of the deal is expected to mirror that of the deals made with Ford Motor Company and General Motors. Those deals include signing bonuses of at least $9,000, no changes for healthcare, and a clearer way forward for temporary employees to become permanent status. On December 4th, a council of the heads of UAW locals will meet and review the agreement and must approve it prior to sending it to members to ratify. Some media reports say that negotiators secure…

Two Chicago area dealership groups have filed a lawsuit against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles accusing the auto manufacturer of falsifying monthly sales figures in the U.S. FCA says the allegations are without merit. FCA has reported 69 monthly sales gains in the years since its bankruptcy in 2009. In the lawsuit, the one of dealerships claim that they were offered $20,000 to falsely report the sales of 40 new vehicles on the final day of a month. Those sales would then be backed out on the first day of the next month preventing the warranty clock on those vehicles from starting. The lawsuit further alleges that FCA rewards dealers who falsify the sales reports wi…

Well, Dodge may have the truck for you. Obviously unsatisfied with bragging rights for the most available pickup power (with the 345-hp HEMI V-8) and torque (with the 610-lb-ft Cummins Turbo Diesel six), Dodge now boasts the longest, roomiest crew-cab cabin with the most people and cargo room. Chrysler is requesting a $7 billion "secured working capital bridge loan" by December 31st, citing the collapse of the light-duty vehicle market, the U.S. financial crisis and the global downturn in the economy as reasons it needs cash. It estimates by the end of the year it will only have $2.5 billion in w…

Link: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/News/articleId=115348 Date posted: 05-12-2006 AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Ford and General Motors may be shuttering plants, but Chrysler Group is humming along on the strength of the Dodge Caliber and two other upcoming small vehicles, the Jeep Compass and the Jeep Patriot. The automaker announced on Wednesday it would take the somewhat unusual step of adding a third shift to its Belvidere, Illinois, assembly plant, adding approximately 1,000 new jobs starting in July. Dodge sold about 11,000 Calibers in April, and the company expects a similar strong showing for the Compass, which goes on sale this summer, followed by the Patriot …

TCC: Spy Shots: 2007 Chrysler Sebring Man, Chrysler is really bad at keeping this hidden. I think this is the fourth set of spy shots on this car. There's a great, clear picture of what the interior looks like. It's kind of a mix of art-deco and Rubbermaid.

Autoweek has a gallery up of the full line of Dodge Challengers. Here's a link to a pic of a blue V6 Challenger. Not bad atall, imo. My only problem is, no manual transmission with the 3.5L V6.

Spied (again): Chrysler Sebring Convertible The Chrysler Sebring convertible has been captured in pictures (or a picture, rather) before but this is a much clearer image. What should you expect to see? Well, let's just say the Monte Carlo may no longer hold the title of "Longest, Most Pickup Trucklike Rear End on a Car". Oh, and there's another picture of the sedan. After learning that General Motors would be disbanding its High Performance Vehicle Operations team to focus on less performance-oriented projects, our thoughts naturally turned towards Ford's SVT and Chrysler's SRT groups. Would Detroit's other automakers follow GM's lead and kill off their fellow speed divisions? Apparently not. Ford has gone on record stating that the SVT program will continue on in its current capacity and now Chrysler has announced that it will continue to develop SRT versions of its volume sellers. In a posting on Chrysler's Red Letter Dodge blog, Steve Bartoli, Chrysler's vice president for global product planning, had a few choice comments re…

2011 Chrysler Lineup Impressions Part II Tuesday I made a trip to the Newcomb Motors, our local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealer. They had a different assortment of 2011s and were nearby, so it I decided to check them out. Up first is the 2011 Patriot. As you may recall it received some pleasant updated for this model year. I think the blacked out lower trim adds a nice touch of ruggedness to it. 2011 Chrysler Lineup Impressions Part 1 can be found here. Inside it also received some subtle but noteworthy details. Gone is the old coporate steering wheel replaced by Jeep brand's handsome new one first seen on the Grand Cherokee. It also gets more soft touch m…

Chrysler Sues Pure Detroit Over Slogan William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 16, 2011 Chrysler's "Imported from Detroit" slogan has brought them a lot good press and fanfare. Since then, Chrysler has brought out a line of clothing and trademarked the slogan. That turned out to be a wise idea since a company called Pure Detroit has used the "Imported from Detroit" on a line of clothing and claims to be the exclusive provider. Last night, Chrysler filed a lawsuit against Pure Detroit saying they used the slogan improperly. Chrysler said in their filing, they tried to work it out with Pure Detroit. "Chrysler has repeatedly attempted to …

The Chrysler 300 will disappear in two years according Automotive News. Their annual future product pipeline reports that Chrysler will eliminate the 300 from their lineup in 2020. No replacement is planned. This follows rumors we've been hearing for the past couple of years that the 300 would be bumped off. But this presents a big problem for Chrysler. Without the 300, the only car in the lineup is the Pacifica minivan. But Automotive News says there is a model to take its place. It will be a fully-electric minivan based on the Portal concept that debuted at the 2017 CES in Las Vegas. The report says expect the concept to retain the reconfigurable interior that seat…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 18, 2013 When the next Chrysler 200 is introduced in 2014, its design will signal a change for the brand. “The current Chryslers on the road today certainly don’t reflect where we’re headed. What I can safely say is we are deviating from where we are today, completely. It’s a very different feeling (and) look," said Chrysler chief designer, Ralph Gilles. Gilles didn't go into detail about the direction the styling will go for the 200 and ultimately the Chrysler brand. “Saad (Chehab, Chrysler brand president and CEO) and Sergio (Marchionne, Chrysler CEO) both were very instrumental in finding the new mission…

A day after Consumer Reports released their annual reliability survey which saw four Chrysler brands; Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Ram finish at the bottom, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Quality Chief has stepped down. Doug Betts, FCA's 51-year-old head of quality has "left the company to pursue other interests,"according to a statement released yesterday. Betts joined Chrysler back in 2007, defecting from Nissan. Chrysler declined to comment on why Betts left when asked by Automotive News, but sources say Betts had the tendency to speak his mind. This irked FCA's CEO Sergio Marchionne a lot. Taking the place of of Betts is Matthew Lidane, who is the VP of systems and components. L…

The vehicle would have a range extender to bring it up to 200 miles. While nothing definite is known, several sources have converged on this rumor. Source: Allpar

2009 Jeep JT Concept This Skunkworks project could be the only way to get a pickup back in the Jeep lineup July 11, 2007 | BY ALISA PRIDDLE | Link to Original Article @ Car & Driver In the five years of Chrysler’s Mopar skunkworks program, where designers are given carte blanche with existing production vehicles, the biggest idea to make it into mainstream production is the Sky Slider full-length retractable canvas roof on the new 2008 Jeep Liberty. It hailed from the Liberator skunkworks project from almost three years ago. But the informal group of volunteers at the skunkworks could gain major credibility if the automaker decides to go ahead with the Jeep JT (J…

Now, the person who wrote that tweet is speaking out. Scott Bartosiewicz, 28 was the person who wrote the now infamous tweet. “I was late for a meeting (last Wednesday morning) and traffic was a little challenging that day. I ended up sending out a tweet and didn’t think another thing about it,” said Bartosiewicz. The tweet which read: “I find it ironic that Detroit is known as the #motorcity and yet no one here knows how to f—…

Seriously I don't get it. Dodge gets the Caliber on a pretty much all new chassis (I know it is shared w/ Mitus but they don't really count since they sell so few cars in the US). Jeep gets 2 versions of this chassis and yet the once highly successful and well selling PT/GT Cruisers are left rotting on the old Neon chassis. What gives? Is Chrysler getting advice from Ford?

FCA is paying Tesla hundreds of millions of dollar to pool their vehicles with Tesla to avoid EU fines over emissions. Tesla put out an invitation to other automakers to use its fleet to lower their emissions totals and FCA took them up on it. Neither company released financial specifics of the deal, but it is estimated by the Financial Times to be worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Similar to California which allows manufactures with a surplus of ZEV credits to sell them to manufacturers who need them, the EU Commission allows manufacturers to pool together their fleets to avoid paying fines. Tesla makes significant money selling these credits in the US, earn…

Reviews: 2008 Dodge Avenger Avenger will compete in a tough market segment, going up against leaders like the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, as well as the newly-improved Malibu . It will be a tough fight. The new sedan may slip in a few categories, but it definitely stands out on the design front. And for many potential buyers, we think that will more than overcome its shortfalls. The Car Connection --- For all its newness, the Avenger assumes much the same place in the automotive sky as the Stratus. It's got some style and it's got some space, but this Dodge is built to a price, and you can tell when you put it next to a Honda Accord, Nissan Altima or Toyota Cam…

Chrysler Cans B & C-Segments Vehicles William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 21, 2011 Back in 2009, Sergio Marchionne presented a eight-hour powerpoint presentation detailing the next five years of products for Chrysler. On one of those slides, Chrysler had a B-Segment vehicle due out in 2013 and a C-Segment car due out in 2012. However those two vehicles looked they have been shelved. Olivier Francois, Chrysler president speaking with Car & Driver at New York Auto Show said the B-Segment Chrysler car is dead. The plan was to do a rebadge job with a Lancia Ypsilon. However, the Ypsilon is related closely with the Fiat 500 and …

AutoBlog Link Chrysler has released sketches today of three eco-minded concepts it will be unveiling at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January, and the first we'll tell you about is the Chrysler ecoVoyager Concept. The ecoVoyager Concept appears to be a series hybrid, much like the Chevy Volt or Ford Airstream Concept, that uses a lithium-ion battery pack for jaunts of 40 miles or less and a hydrogen fuel-cell range extender to reach distances up to 300 miles away. Power is expected to be in the range of 200 kW total, which Chrysler claims is good for reach 60 mph in around eight seconds. The exterior features an extreme cab forward design creating an arch profile with f…
