Hoping insiders can give me a bit of clarification. The current GMT201 MiniVans were supposed to be replaced by GMT962 about 2009. With all of GM's cancellations and delays I have heard GMT962 got replaced by GMT511. Can the insiders confirm or deny this and if its alive has it been delayed (to when?) Is it still going to be on the Lambda platform? Thanks

Greetings, I am Chester i am writing you today as I have a problem with my 2006 Chevrolet Impala LS. I am hoping you can help me solve my problem in a way that does not cost much money as I hate paying high prices at the mechanic when I can fix it in my garage. Recently, my automobile began making the reminder noise at random times it has now become almost a constant sound while I am driving. Usually, turning up the radio is a good enough solution for me now the noise almost never stops. The sound is like the sound when the car door is open or when you forget to fasten your safety belt. Thank you for any email back

  11. Let it be said the team charged with the Chevrolet Camaro isn't one to take a rest. Despite launching a new generation of the model last year, they have been hard at work on new and updated variants. Case in point is the 2017 Camaro ZL1. Like the last-generation model, the 2017 ZL1 packs a Supercharged 6.2L V8. But engineers have boosted power from 580 horsepower and 556 pound-feet of torque to 640 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching comes standard and a new ten-speed automatic - developed with Ford - that offers close gear ratios and fast shifts. The powertrain also boasts eleven heat exchangers, an auxiliary tra…

  12. Chevrolet Volt Losing Interest With Consumers William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 16, 2011 Chevrolet's Volt, one of the most hyped vehicles in recent time is beginning to show signs of losing interest. According to CNW Marketing Research, interest in the Volt by buyers has been dropping. In March, more than 21% of ‘early adopters,’ said they would consider a Volt. When asked the same question in July, the number dropped to 14.6%. It's a similar story with "EV enthusiasts". Back in March, 25% said they would consider a Volt. Now, only 17% would consider one. Most alarming; CNW says "In fact, all categories of new-car intenders are…

  13. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 24, 2012 Some new spy shots of the next generation Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups have hit the internets today and we can gleam some new information about them. The Silverado/Sierra appears to be going towards a more upright and boxy look than the previous model. The front end looks to be more evolutionary than revolutionary, continuing with the large, square headlights and wide grille. Also, it appears the Silverado will continue on with the center bar running across the grille. As for powertrains, the next generation Silverado and Sierra are expected to be the first vehicles to be equipped with GM…

GM Lordstown future vague as strike looms Saturday, September 15, 2007 3:37 AM | By M.R. The workers were among those at plants across the country preparing to strike as a midnight deadline loomed in contract negotiations between General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers. We rented an '07 Cobalt Coupe in Denver last weekend. Overall, it was a solid little car, and even after lots of flogging up and down mountainous roads, we averaged over 30 mpg...EXCELLENT! If there were any detractors, it would be the hard interior plastics and the wheezy-whiny mechanical noises from the engine. Of course, we're accustomed to driving cars in a different class - in our garage is a new Subaru Legacy and new Honda Civic. Also, for comparison notes, I recently rented an '07 PT Cruiser (handled almost a good as my Civic!!) and an '07 Jetta (supple, fast, but with weird engine noises). My final take: the Cobalt is an attractive, easy driver.

  16. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 3, 2013 The thought of hybrid Corvette could send a good amount of people into convulsions. But mention this to General Motor's North American President and he has a different take on it. "Actually, don’t laugh," said Mark Reuss to the Los Angeles Times. William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com August 6, 2013 Despite piling on incentives to move Chevrolet Volts off dealer lots a couple months ago, sales rose to a meager 0.1 percent to 11,643 vehicles through July. Add in the fact that the Nissan Leaf dropped it price earlier and is currently experiencing a rise in sales and the inevitable was bound to happen. Today, General Motors announced a $5,000 price cut to the 2014 Volt. That means the starting price is now $34,995 (including $810 in destination). Factor in the $7,500 federal tax credit and you're looking at a price of $27,495. “The lower price and cost savings from driving on electricity provide Volt ow…

They rushed us into the Body Shop to see them in production before they shut them down today. The assmebly line was already down. It was kind of a bummer till they let us check out the car at many of the prodution line stations. We got to get right on the line and get some real up close looks at various steps on the line. That was cool and something we would have never got to due if the plant was up. Kind of nice to have the run of the house! Well C & G-ers, wondering if I can get some help from the crowd out there. My wife currently drives a '95 Yukon SLT 4door...13 MPG hog that it is. She likes the truck, but I don't like the $65+ per week in gas she is burning up just driving around town. She is in love with the HHR, and since I found out they withstand an accident pretty well, I was wondering if it would work for us. We have two kids, both in booster seats, 4 and 6 years of age. My wife is a tiny thing, so the seat would not be too far back. No strollers to haul. Just going to be an around town kind of car. I don't know about all of you, but i KNOW that if they can build a whole line-up of great cars, why can't they build EVERY car that good? The Malibu SS, Cobalt SS, Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS are great, but why cant the base Cobalt or Monte be just as good as it's brotheren? That is my question. I posted the following photoshop rendering on the old C&G and recieved surprisingly positive feedback in doing so. My idea was simple. Instead of applying a mildly revised '06 Impala front-end and slightly reworked rear to the current Monte Carlo, I suggested that Chevy simply replace the model altogether with a coupe variant of the Impala. The Monte Carlo name would be dropped in favor of 'Impala Coupe' badging. Styling aside, the current MC is little more than an Impala coupe anyway. In essence, the resulting model would not only be a more attractive car from a styling standpoint, but further damage to the Monte Carlo moniker would be limited until a more s…

I have been all over the map with Chevy lately. In the past four years, I have worked in three different dealerships, driven three different models, test drove the Cruze, Sonic, Spark and Volt and wound up buying what is probably the least popular of the bunch. I had an Aveo.. then I 'upgraded' to the suspension headache and worsened build quality that was the Cobalt, and for some reason... insanity perhaps? I continue to go back to the mini-hatch Chev-woos. The Volt was a stunning car to drive, it was balanced well, had plenty of giddy-up and was nothing less than a technological leap in comparison to the other three cars I tested. BUT - the province I live in currentl…

With the sporty Land Rover Evoke and Mini Paceman coming onto the scene as CUV "coupes", is it possible we'll eventually see a few 2-door crossovers back on the market from the domestic manufacturers in the future? A 2-door Equinox with a more rakish roofline, sportier, larger wheels and more power underhood would be a cool specimen. I'd like to see it, because if the bad days are truly behind them, GM needs to get back to producing some sporty, fun variations on their current offerings.

Return of the Real Impala By John Pearley Huffman Date posted: 11-14-2005 If General Motors has a distinctive engineering tradition it's a weird commitment to V8 front-drivers. Since the introduction of the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, GM has always had at least one V8-powered front-driver in its product line. Usually two. Despite all that history, this V8-powered, 303-horsepower 2006 Impala SS is the layout's first migration to Chevrolet. Dismissing this Chevy Impala SS as a pretender because it isn't rear-drive like the Impalas of yesteryear is a lazy cop-out. Soon, the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 will have its own take for your consideration. Today, Chevrolet revealed the base price of the Colorado ZR2 which begins at $40,995 (includes a $940 destination charge). That will net you the extended cab model with the 3.6L V6. Chevrolet isn't talking pricing for the crew cab or the option of the 2.8L Duramax Turbodiesel. This price undercuts the base Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro by $705. Found in Washington by one of Google StreetView's drones, there's actually no barn to this barn find, just a car left sitting in the gray mist that folks in the Pacific Northwest call "weather." This Corvette had a 12-year shelf life, and then according to the owner, it's "been veggin' on the spot since '75." If you are interested, it's one of the fuel injected models and comes with an extra engine and other parts. Of course, if it's been sitting there for 34 years, it could fall to pieces when you try to move it... and you'll probably find more than a few dead (or perturbed) animals lurking thereabouts. GM just announced the official MPG numbers for the Cruze Eco model: http://media.gm.com/content/media/us/en/news/news_detail.brand_gm.html/content/Pages/news/us/en/2010/Nov/1111_cruze_eco This pretty much confirms something I have been saying for years -- reducing displacement has a very small and sometimes intangible effect on fuel economy. Other factors such as weight, aerodynamics, transmission efficiency and friction within the engine has a greater bearing on mpg numbers. If you look at the automatic numbers and compare it to that of the Ford Focus which has a 2.0L engine, you'll notice that it is but 1~2 mpg off. Given that the non-Eco 1.4T Cruze (Automatic) is …

The next generation Corvette has been caught on camera, undergoing some testing in Canada. The heavily camouflaged prototype reveals some details on what to expect on the C7 Corvette. Designwise, the C7 Corvette will retain the classic long-nose, short-deck configuration of its predecessors, but have a distinct wedge shape. 95. One thing that many Chevrolet Suburban customers have missed since 2013 is the availability of a 3/4 ton model. The last Suburban 2500 went out of production as the Suburban changed over to the 2014 model. We have uncovered a GM document showing that Chevrolet is planning on adding an HD trim to the Suburban for 2016. This new trim (available on 4x4, LS and LT models only) may not be a full 3/4 ton model however. From 2001 - 2006 Chevrolet offered an uprated Silverado 1500 HD that was powered by a 6.0 liter V8. That gave the Silverado 1500 HD a tow rating just 500lbs shy of a similarly engined Silverado 2500HD. Thus, our guess is that this new Suburban HD will be an up…

Should GM reverse course on displacement reduction and put a 2.5L engine on the 2014 Cruze Eco? Is the Cruze 1.4T an improvement over past GM efforts and is it a decent engine for a well executed small car? Absolutely. This, however, doesn't change the facts that downsizing displacement and adding a turbocharger does not result in better fuel economy numbers than doing the opposite. The Cruze 1.4T is basically bottom of the pack in fuel economy and horsepower:- 2012 Cruze Eco -- 1.4L Turbo (6-spd automatic) -- 26 / 39 MPG (EPA); 138 hp / 148 lb-ft 2012 Civic HF -- 1.8L NA (5-spd automatic) -- 29 / 41 MPG (EPA); 140 hp / 128 lb-ft 2012 Focus SFE -- 2.0L NA (6-spd au…
