Hey guys I was checking my email this morning before heading up to work and I ran across this article on Yahoo about a guy in Wisconsin with a 1991 Chevy pick up that, as of Friday rolled over 1,000,000 miles. All I have to say about it is.....Chevy, the most dependable, longest lasting trucks on the road... Like A Rock!

While not officially revealed, Chevy has already updated their website with official information and pictures on the 2014 Sonic Dusk special edition. It's been a long time coming since the concept and a supposed official release that was timed for the 2013 model year, but never came to fruition.

The Chevrolet Bolt concept will be heading into production in late 2016, with sales beginning in 2017. But there is the question of whether or not the 'Bolt' name will go on the production model or not. The name is confusing as it sounds similar to the Chevrolet Volt. "Some people think it's confusing. "People are having some fun with it. It is generating awareness, which is good. It's so conversational," said Alan Batey, president of GM North America to the Detroit Free Press. Batey did say that there is a debate going on General Motors of whether to keep the Bolt name or go with something else. "We're still in the decision phase. It could go either way," said Batey…

Man Deathly Afraid of El Camino Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is no joke. It is something that everybody can learn from and develop an understanding for just in case you have to deal with somebody who has OCD in the future. Sometimes though, this disorder hits home more than usual. This week on A&E’s docudrama called “Obsession”, a young man from Chicago suffered from great Obsession Compulsion about a Chevrolet El Camino. Read more and watch the full episode.

Outrageous C6 Corvette to be Shown at SEMA ...[T]he Outrageous C6 lives up to its name by adding a Pro Charger supercharger and Corsa exhaust that kick the car's power output up to 650 hp, as well as 5,600 watts of Sony sound gear, a Le Mans wing and Lambo doors. The overall result is... interesting, and certainly outrageous. We could envision any number of NFL superstars proudly piloting this Vette to the stadium on any given Sunday, and it will surely fit in with the type of cars we expect to encounter at the SEMA show in a couple weeks. I just saw a commercial for the Cobalt touting its "better than Honda Civic" fuel economy. This is misleading. They're taking the EPA rating of the manual Civic at 34 highway mpg and comparing it the the Cobalt XFE's 36 highway mpg while ignoring that the city rating is better for the Civic 26 vs 25 and the mix is the same at 29. Further, the automatic Civic has the same exact EPA ratings as the Cobalt XFE manual, a low-take option in the real world. Does "truth in advertising" mean anything to these ad people? GM, stop taking shortcuts and produce a higher mileage car. OR, compare what you've got to something that has less economy, e.g., the Focus (by one mpg).

G. Noble Editor/Reporter CheersandGears.com April 7th, 2012 Without a doubt, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala probably turned out be one of the more pleasant surprises of the recent New York Auto Show. In a mighty effort to shed itself of the current model’s dowdy image as a car that you wouldn’t want to drive even if you rented it, the new car is certainly lightyears ahead of the outgoing model inside and out. It’s also millions of millennia ahead of the outgoing car with its option list too, which almost seems Xeroxed from some snooty banker’s big Mercedes. There is one option that, unlike its competitors from Ford and Chrysler as well as a banker’s Mercedes, won’t be app…

Back on January 21st of this year, we reported that General Motors had filed a trademark application for the name Z71 Trail Boss. Fresh off the heals of the Chevrolet Colorado Box Delete Option for commercial customers announced earlier this week; at the 2015 Cleveland Auto Show on Friday, Chevrolet took the covers off the bearer of Z71 Trail Boss badge, the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Trail Boss. With a package price of $3,320, the Z71 Trail Boss package will be offered on both extended and crew cab configurations with either long or short beds. The package includes special 17" metallic painted aluminum wheels shod with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all terrain tires, blac…

The current Chevrolet Equinox is nearing the end of its lifecycle and we have been wondering when we'll be seeing any information about it. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have some photos to show what Chevrolet has in store. The most apparent thing we can tell the photos is the new model is smaller than the outgoing model. This confirms a report back from January that Chevrolet will be moving the Equinox downmarket to compete better with compact crossovers. We can't you much about the exterior thanks to excellent camouflage job done by GM. Car and Driver says the Equinox will use GM's Delta architecture and possibly feature the same suspension setup as the Buick…

I would just like some honest opinions on the new HD's. To me it seems like GM dropped the ball with these trucks. The half tons get a new frame and well everything, while the hd's keep the same frame with maybe a few mods. I know there are a lot of people out there that would like to see a straight axle on the front, I'm one of them. I know IFS rides better and is "strong" but its just not the same. It seems like every construction company or what ever where trucks get used hard all use ford or dodge. I believe the front end is a big player in that. Why would they keep it relativly unchanged? Now with ford and dodge getting new diesels it seems GM will have a har…

GM @ NYIAS 2008 Chevrolet HHR Panel Wraps NEW YORK – What better way to illustrate the uses for the new Chevrolet HHR Panel than with the vehicles themselves? Chevy is doing exactly that at the New York Auto Show with two eye-popping wraps – one for business, the other for pleasure. A delivery vehicle that looks like a bouquet on wheels shows how the HHR Panel can deliver the goods without draining the gas tank. A personal-use Panel, “Skull From Hell,” was designed by student Jim McCammon of Detroit ’s Center for Creative Studies. A creative alliance between Chevrolet and Detroit's College for Creative Studies gave CCS students real-life experience in the competitiv…

You know how there was a question of whether or not we'd ever see the Chevy Beat for sale in North America? The answer to that question is looking more like a big fat yes. Of course, a subcompact like the Beat makes perfect sense in a landscape where gas is selling for well over $4 a gallon in many areas. Our quasi-confirmation comes not from El Generalissimo, however, but from the set of Transformers 2, which was recently given its tagline: Revenge of the Fallen. In the photo above, next to Bumblebee, is the Chevy Beat -- partially covered, but the Beat nonetheless. You know what putting it in the movie does, right? It makes people want it. Last summer, it was the Camaro…

Chevrolet has revealed its new Cruze station wagon today, ahead of its scheduled reveal at the Geneva Auto Show next month. Set to go on sale this summer, the new wagon (or estate, if you'd prefer) adds a third bodystyle to the Cruze lineup to go alongside the sedan and hatchback in European showrooms. Chevy's new small wagon is 184 inches (4,675 mm) long, making it longer than either the sedan or hatch. Inside, the wagon offers 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and a nice 52 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Outside, new taillights flank the wagon's rear and the Cruze's new schnoz will make its official debut on this newest variant. Buyers get a choi…

Yesterday on my way home from work, I work 3rds by the way at the Tech center. I passed an 07 Tahoe that was already smashed! It looked like to me somebody had hit something over the holiday weekend(maybe a deer?). The driver side of the vehicle was a mess! The complete headlight assembly was missing and the fender was torn open like a can, the grille was hanging somewhat but was still on the vehicle. Oops! I hope somebody didn't lose their job over this.

Last year at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet teamed up with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) to produce the Colorado ZR2 AEV concept. This truck was fully kitted out for overlanding duties with a revamped suspension, new bumpers and skid plates, a snorkel, Warn winch, bed rack, and an air compressor. It seems Chevrolet is planning to make this into a production model. Off-Road.com learned from a Chevrolet dealer that GM at their annual dealer meeting showed off a model called the Colorado ZR2 Bison. “The AEV truck they revealed looked nearly identical to the concept vehicle with some minor differences,” the unnamed dealer said in email. The differences are most…

I am interested to know if the Volt design had been the Cruze, would you consider it more interesting, or functional, or desirable than the Cruze? I am not at all bringing the hybrid into the question. If the Cruze had arrived with the Volt's styling (with obviously more interior space returned because of no battery) would the Cruze seemed more attractive? I have to admit. On styling alone and with the hatchback, the Volt as a Cruze would have actually been the game changing small car for Chevy that is still the jury that will be out on the Cruze. Please vote (volt) for your favorite.....

I suddenly thought of this idea, like a "real life show" form of an ad. OK, first grab a Cobalt, COMPLETELY camoflauge the fact that it's a Chevy, i.e. like the spy vehicles, use like the vinyl wraps on the front grille, rear end, strip the badges from the steering wheel, use generic wheel covers at Tire Rack or Canadian Tire. Next, in the streets, stop people with Corollas and Civics. Particularly look for people who make negative comments about American cars, particularly. Do a brief interview with them, and record their phrases like: I LOVE my Corolla, it's like the best car you can get... blah blah blah.... Then, challenge them to test drive the s…

Our one year old 2005 Tahoe has had a broken liftgate handle for over a month now -- according to the local Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer that I use for service on this car, apparently GM has been using a new, cheaper liftgate handle for the last year or so, and there are like 200 backorders around the country for this specific part. The car is still under warranty, so I'm not worried about any costs, but has anyone heard anything about this? It seems incredible to me that there would be so much trouble with such an item, as this part should not have changed since the 2000 model year... What's up here? On a sidenote, I just returned from a short family vacation in the m…

Chevrolet will be introducing a new base model of the 2018 Tahoe called the Custom. The Custom sets itself apart from other Tahoes as it will not have a third-row seat, increasing cargo space to 54 cubic feet. Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi, backup camera, and remote start. Like most Tahoes, the Custom features the 5.3L V8 with 355 horsepower. Out of the box, the Tahoe Custom can tow up to 6,600 pounds. An optional max trailering package boosts that to 8,600 pounds. “The Tahoe Custom is a response to strong customer demand for Tahoe, as well as the full-size…

Link: http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/general-motors-ceo-dan-akerson-is-not-a-car-guy-08252011.htmlGeneral Motors CEO Dan Akerson Is Not a Car Guy The new boss of GM has no auto industry experience and a knack for telling employees what they don’t want to hear. Does that make him the right leader to save the carmaker? In June, Daniel F. Akerson, the chairman and chief executive officer of General Motors, gave a speech to about 400 engineers and designers at the company’s technical center north of Detroit. It was a boilerplate, morale-boosting speech, generous with exhortations about work ethics and staying vigilant. Then came the Q&A session. One emplo…

Did anyone else see it? There is a Tundra parked on the side of the road. A guy driving a Silverado pulls up and asks the owner if he needs a ride. Now, for a split second I was expecting and hoping that the reason for the Tundra being on the side of the road was a snapped camshaft. While it was disappointing that this was not the case, it was also AWESOME that the reason was the Tundra RAN OUT OF GAS. The commercial then went on to illustrate the same regarding the Ford F-150. FINALLY. This is the kind of advertising GM needs. Tell people why GM's trucks are better than Toyota's.

At the very least, impractical was PRETTY back then... watch and you'll hear GM engineers had hope for a full-electric car at least 46 years ago, but reality stepped in despite their best efforts. And this was during GM's heyday, they were the undisputed engineering leaders in the industry back then. Even today, GM leads in patent applications year after year. Some things just do not work beyond novelty. GM knows that. <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/YXxgatAznHU?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I saw both today and I gotta admit, what a transformation! Its not sexy, but the sport interior in black, with chrome bits, the new front end, the ground effects and spoilers and especially the exhaust tips REALLY LOOK NICE. too bad the wheels look horribly cheap. Why wasn't this car here two years ago? Or for me, 4 months ago? I might actually take one of these over a Fusion. Alas, still only pushrods under the hood and only a 4 speed auto. YEESH. With the 3.6vvt or the upcoming 260hp turbo ecotec this car would be so sahwet for me. Especially with a 5 or 6 speed manual or manumatic. AND BETTER WHEELS. The problem with the previous spy shots of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette was you couldn't really tell what it was. The shots showed a blurry mule on GM's test track. For all we knew, it could have been bigfoot terrorizing GM employees. But finally, we have gotten the first clear and detailed shots of the mid-engine Corvette. It is clear this mule is mid-engined because of the proportions - short front and long rear end. There also appears to be some bits from the C7 such as the taillights. Other details are hidden by the heavy camouflage. Details on the mid-engine Corvette are very sketchy. As we have reported previously, the mid-engine Corvette could be sh…

Five months after Chevrolet revealed to the world the 2015 Corvette Z06, the brand has announced the final performance numbers and they are impressive to say in the least. When the model was revealed at the Detroit Auto Show, Chevrolet said the Z06 was producing 'at least 625 horsepower', but they needed to do final testing to get the ratings. Well, the Z06's supercharged 6.2L V8 has been SAE-certified and is rated at 650 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Not only is this the most powerful production Corvette, it also happens to be the most powerful production model ever built by GM. To put those numbers in perspective, the Z06 is bested by models such as, Ferra…

GM's new Chevy Malibu will be scarcer in rental fleets Sharon Terlep | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News WARREN -- General Motors Corp. said that it will cut by half the number of Chevy Malibu sedans it sells to daily rental car fleets with the madeover 2008 model. The Malibu had been GM's most fleeted car but going forward the company intends that only 20 percent of its production output will be sold to rental car companies, compared to 40 percent of current Malibus. Those that are sold as rentals will feature amenities such as sunroofs and more luxurious interiors. Over the last couple of years, the Detroit Three have been trying to withdraw from sales t…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 23, 2013 At first glance, you might be thinking these spy shots are for a refreshed Chevrolet Sonic sedan because of the distinctive front end. You be incorrect as Automobile Magazine says this is the new 2015 Cruze. The Cruze mule caught in these spy shots clearly show the Sonic influences tapered nose, descending hood, narrow headlights, and dual grille surround. The windshield looks be swept back and the roofline has a coupelike styling. In the back, the trunklid gains an integrated spoiler and a set of new taillights. The new Cruze will utilize an updated version of the Delta platform. Its not quite sure wh…

Almost forgot about this model, until just browsing some Chevy dealer inventory and saw a few of them: http://www.countrychevrolet.com/Chevy/70248_1.html http://www.countrychevrolet.com/Chevy/77741_1.html Interesting, and could be a fun cargo van alternative for people who want something small.

New spy photos show a heavily camouflaged Holden Ute breaking cover down under. The car shows many of the tell tale signs of being based off of the new Zeta platform, including a similar proportions to the aforementioned Holden Commodore and large wheel arches. The overhauled Ute will come in time for Holden to boost its position against import 4×4 SUV's which are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. A new El Camino? Recently, there has been a great deal of speculation about the new Ute coming to America badged as a Chevrolet El Camino. Holden sources recently told Australia's CarPoint the lure of "substantial" export orders for "the Americas" have accelerate…

Dan Neil of the L.A. Times drives the Chevy Aveo and gives it a surprisingly positive review. An excerpt: That said, there's something quite agreeable about the Aveo. It's comfortable, solidly constructed, and surprisingly eager to please. The little dual-cam motor will happily pull its guts out to get up to speed. The ride quality is reasonably composed for a short-wheelbase (97.6 inches) commuter car, and the interior noise levels more than respectable. The exterior paint quality and panel gap consistency are excellent. And, let me just say, hand-cranked windows? What a clever idea. The biggest surprise in the Aveo is the interior's quality. The subject of a major p…

Linkity General Motors Death Watch 232 Chevrolet Corvette Must Die A mainstream carmaker has no business building niche products. Literally. For one thing, they're hardly ever profitable. For another, even when they are, their profits are relatively insignificant. And most importantly, "halo cars" are four-wheeled glass and steel versions of Dumbo's magic feather. They lead manufacturers to mistake cause with effect: if we build this, we must be good. In fact, any automaker that focuses its creative, financial and corporate resources on a halo car risks forgetting how to do what it did to get those resources in the first place—and an eventual plummet…

A picture of the Volt's battery pack. From the article it will be b/t the front seats and go back under the rear seats. An under hood shot. Design room (I am assuming the thing under the tarp is the production Volt as well as the to the right not under the tarp is an interior buck or something similar). I am thinking the Volt will be more of a hatchback than I previously thought after seeing this. A graph showing charge and operation modes.

Well I got a deal from GM that if I test drove a new Chevy I would get a $50 Gift Cars to Best Buys, Amazon, etc. Well I visited the dealer and the salesman said he would take care of my card and I did not have to even test drive. I told him I really wanted to drive a Colorado. So without even asking who I was or taking any information I was provided with a set of keys to a $36,758 Crew Cab short bed Colorado. Well I drove off and took it on a good test drive. Here are some of my impressions. It is very quiet unless you kick the V6 down. The 3.6 has that growl and in a truck it should be more of an asset than liability. The ride was smooth and solid. Little flex…

Prototype of the Volt gets tryout The Chevrolet Volt concept has hit the road -- in Massachusetts, at least By Justin Hyde | July 15, 2007 | Link to Original Article @ Detroit Free Press David Vieau, the chief executive of battery maker A123 Systems, said during a congressional hearing Thursday that the company's employees recently had driven the Volt, General Motors Corp.'s attempt to regain an environmental mantle. A123 is one of the companies developing lithium-ion batteries for the Volt, which is designed to travel up to 40 miles on electricity alone and up to 640 miles on 12 gallons of gasoline. GM has said the Volt could arrive in dealerships within the next fiv…

GM sees "showdown" with Toyota on electric car Thu Nov 15, 2007 9:09 AM GMT | By Kevin Krolicki | Link to Original Article @ Reuters LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - General Motors is on track to road test its Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid early next year and to produce the rechargeable car by late 2010, setting the stage for a "showdown" with Toyota, a senior GM executive said on Wednesday. As the race to bring a mass-market, rechargeable electric vehicle to market heats up, Bob Lutz, GM's head of global product development, said the largest U.S. automaker remained on track to launch the Chevy Volt in November 2010. "A lot of our team members working on the Volt keep telling…

Spy Shots: Mysterious Chevy small car spied testing Spy shots of a mysterious Chevy small car prototype have surfaced on the web today and everyone seem confused as to what it might be. The five-door hatchback spied undergoing winter testing could be the next-generation Chevy Aveo, though looks very little like the next-gen Chevy Lova – the Chinese version of the Aveo – that we saw in spy shots taken last September. The interior of the prototype, as well, is a big departure from any we've seen in other Chevy small cars, especially the main gauge pod that appears to house a tachometer with a digital display that extends off to the right and likely works as a speedomet…

Interesting tidbits coming out. MT reports that the Volt DOES connect the ICE to the wheels in certain modes: "The surprising news is that, after you deplete the 16-kW-hr battery and the engine switches on, a clutch connects the engine and generator to the planetary transmission so the engine can help turn the wheels directly above 70 mph. This improves performance and boosts high-speed efficiency by 10-15 percent." I think it was wise for them to do this, but it does seem that GM's implementation is a lot more similar to Toyota's HSD than we were originally made to believe. MT also reports that the car will only do full power for a period of time to protect the b…

As the 2007 VUE Green Line sets to make its appearance as GM's first true hybrid offering work is being done on the hybrid Equinox. Naturally one would assume that since they are on the same platform, architecture, etc that they would share the same hybrid drivetrain. From what I've been hearing, the Equinox will feature a different hybrid system than the Vue. The Vue uses the "two-mode" hybrid system that at stop lights the batteries take over while the engine is shut down. Could a "true" hyrid be in store for the Equinox complete with batteries and greater fuel efficency? Only time will tell.

After being very underwhelmed with the details of the regular Malibu and Maxx I looked at an SS (it was Silverstone) for the first time last night and can say I was VERY impressed. 10 times better than the craptacular GM PR shots. The Chevrolet SS wheels have really grown on me and they look especially good on the Maxx (The added weight of the wagon-esque profile complements the weighty look of the wheels very well) The "SS" badge on the side is placed correctly instead of awkwardly in never-never land like on the Impala and some of the first Cobalts. And the new nose looks excellent with it's more agressive grille material and bright accents, I also think…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 23, 2013 Chevrolet appears to be taking some notes from SRT's playbook on how to sell the Corvette Stingray. According to Automotive News, General Motors told Chevrolet dealers that if they had sold four or more Corvettes in 2012, they would be able to sell the Stingray. This move will effect hundreds of Chevrolet dealers. "I don't anticipate getting the new Corvette this year, and many smaller dealers like me won't get it either," says Byron Hansen, a Chevrolet dealer in Brigham City, Utah. Dealers who did not hit the sales mark last year are very disappointed, since they used the Corvette as a way to bring …

Found it intersting that the GM Canada web site has a section all about the Nomad. Also, they have a questionaire about possible car buyers, when they are going to buy and what cars they are considering. It has a multiple choice format (you can't type in your choice). One of the choices preset is the Nomad!
