Cadillac

Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

So my buddy pulls into my driveway yesterday with a new V8 STS. Looks like a bluish/grey color. Car was pretty stunning to look at. I get in...BAM. Man what a bland interior. On top of that, is there almost no rear leg room???. So this is what 55K gets ya? Overall not bad but average at best on the inside. I did not take a drive but I'm sure there is plenty of power and he said handling was pretty good. lWhats next for this model

  3. Cadillac is undergoing a number of changes. From the appointment of a new head to new models heading out to dealers, and more that are to be revealed. Now, the luxury automaker is moving to a new home. Yesterday, General Motors announced that Cadillac will be moving to a new headquarters in New York City. The new HQ will be located in the SoHo area with a "multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices." At this time, Cadillac is deciding who will move to the headquarters at this time. However, technical operations will remain in Michigan. The move is expected to finish up next year. “With the relentless upward repositioning of successive new…

  4. The previous sets of Cadillac XT4 spy shots haven't revealed much aside from the basic shape. But finally, a spy photographer was able to catch a group of them with a fair amount of camouflage removed. We can see the front end has a lot of influence from the Escala concept with a similar grille shape. The front headlights appear to stretch into the front fenders, but don't drop as far down on the fascia. Moving to the side, shares a similar profile to the XT5. The only difference between the two is a lack of window behind the rear doors. Cadillac has the Germans in its sight with the XT5. 5. With the new CT4-V and CT5-V, Cadillac has returned to big power:- CT4-V Blackwing gets 474 bhp / 445 lb-ft Twin-Turbo V6 (LF4) CT5-V Blackwing gets 668 bhp / 659 lb-ft Supercharged Pushrod V8 (LT4) This is definitely welcomed news for Cadillac V-Car fans who were completely underwhelmed by last year's CT4-V and CT5-V that boasted a whopping 10~25 hp gain over ordinary CT5 cars and base model Silverado pickups. The return to Pushrod power is encouraging, showing that GM is finally playing to it's architectural strength rather than chasing after other manufacturer's design weaknesses. Still, it begs the question as to why Cadillac (or GM in general…

  11. After months of rumors and spy photos, Cadillac finally spilled the beans on their new high-performance CT4 and CT5 Blackwing. These new models are planned to give German rivals a bruising when they start arriving at dealers later this summer. Here is what we know. CT4 Blackwing The smaller of the two Blackwing models starts with a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 engine with 472 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque. To achieve this power, Cadillac upgraded the various internals with titanium connecting rods and a revised crankshaft. I just skimmed through my copy of Consumer Reports last night and I saw a real nice photo of a CTS. CR tested entry level luxury cars in their most recent issue. The first page of the review where they put the overall ratings, Consumer Reports decided to write this half page long caveat about how great the Cadillac is and other recent GM offerings, but how poor the reliability is on GM cars. The score for the CTS puts it in second behind an Infiniti but the CTS has the worst reliability out of all the cars in the entry level luxury class. The primary complaints that make the car way below average are "squeaky brakes" and "squeeks and rattles in the interior."

So I got my C&D today, and the Escalade was in a comparo vs. the Navigator (5th place), Infiniti QX56 (3rd!?! WTF?), Audi Q7 (2nd), and GL450 (1st). Now, it's not that I don't agree with some of the scoring (Escalade got low marks for the second and third row), but some of them are pretty much BS. Somehow it got a lower score on ergonomics than the Audi and MB (the MB tons of tiny buttons, and Audi locates their HVAC units in the worst place ever, as well as having the MMI crap in a terrible place if you're trying to drive), and it's interior design was also scored lower than each. Maybe it's just me, but it looks a lot better than either, IMO (I feel the Audi's is …

That's a (somewhat mangled) quote from Thomas G. Now it appears that Cadillac is upping its game by taking on high performance models with the ATS-V. 31. The U.S. Patent and and Trademark Office (USPTO) sometimes provides some clues as to what automakers have possibly in the works. Case in point are a set of drawings depicting a new coupe for Cadillac. General Motors filed the patent for a “vehicle body exterior” on February 14th, 2017. The patent was approved by the USPTO earlier this week. The drawings reveal a fair amount of influence from the Escala. Up front resides a trapezoidal grille and a set of slim headlights. Along the side profile, the design shares the Escala's low-slung roof and creases. The back features a trunk lid with chiseling near the taillights. What could this patent be hinting at? …

  38. It has been awhile since we have heard anything on Cadillac's powertrain plans. But CEO Johan de Nysschen was in a talkative mood about it and Car and Driver was there to catch it. The 4.2L displacement is interesting as competitors - mostly Germans - only go up to 4.0L to avoid Chinese taxes on high-displacement engines. Cadillac doesn't expect to sell many CT6s equipped with V8 in China, focusing more on the Plug-In Hybrid version for the market. Power is expected to be “in the upper 400s,” de Nysschen said. Most recently it has dropped both the base 2.0T 4-cylinder and the mid-range (now that there is a V8) 3.0 twin-turbo V6. With all of those changes, there is bound to be some price changes to accompany them. For 2020, the CT6 will see a base price rise of $8,500 over the 2019 model to $59,900. With that rise, the base engine becomes the 3.6 liter V6 and AWD standard. It is also adding about $3,500 worth of active safety equipment as standard. Moving up to the Premium Luxury …

You come out the Aremberg turn hard in third and plunge 250 feet downhill along a wriggling stretch of track, straight-lining one, two, three, four, five apexes almost as fast as you can count them. You reach the bottom of the hill on the sixth, the car's suspension on full compression as the track veers slightly left. That's not…

  61. I hit the show yesterday - new venue right in the heart of the South End of Boston (Southie for those in the area.) This new facility was a great improvement over the old one. Much more room. I have to say, sitting in the CTS there really gets the adrenaline going. I was struck by the size seeming much smaller than I expected given the chatter I've seen in the press about it being a 5-series size car - I didn't find this to be the case. In fact I actually liked the size of the STS-V they had on display (this is one sweet car by for $80k I'd have to think hard about it.) Really depends on the primary purpose of the car. Certainly as a personal driving machine the CTS si…

I drove through some car lots this weekend, and whilst driving through the Cadillac lot I noticed something that's rather alarming to me... there were probably 6 CTSs in my dealer's lot (smallish dealer), and not one of them had fog lights. Instead, all of them had the cheesy black plastic inserts. And, we're not talking about the "cheap" sub-$40k CTSs either, all of them were over $40k, and only one was less that $44k. GM is touting a $44k car to take on the world's best sports sedans that has no fog lights. Way to scream "CHEAP" GM! Even your best products have major flaws such as this. While the car doesn't look bad the combination of no fog lights and dinky wheels m…

This is when you can order the car, with the availability of a turbodiesel or petrol engines. The car does not look too bad in the ad, a smoothed over CTS I guess.

  69. Cadillac Announces 3.6L DI V6 For The 2012 SRX (Finally!) William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 12, 2011 If there is an Achilles's Heel for the Cadillac SRX, it would be the engine lineup. Either the engine didn't have enough power (3.0L V6) or problems with the type fuel put in and abysmal fuel economy (2.8T V6). Now, Cadillac is rectifying that by offering a 3.6L DI V6 for the 2012 SRX. The 3.6 is projected to produce 300 HP and 260 lb-ft of torque and will be able to run on E85. Other changes for the 2012 SRX include Bluetooth becoming standard on all models, door lock switches on the driver and passenger doors, and heated steering…

I've heard the rumors of a 280-300hp V6, but is it just speculation? Being "good enough" is typical GM thought and I'm fearing that they are going to seriously drop the ball and stick with the same 255hp engine they have now. A ~300hp V6 would greatly step on the [underperforming] 4.6l Northstar's toes with just 320hp. I suppose this just emphasizes the need for the Northstar to be revamped. They didn't feel it was necessary to upgrade the GMT900's small block/4speed combo which is the same crime.

  72. December 18, 2012 Drew Dowdell Managing Editor - CheersandGears.com It is looking like GM is gearing up for a very busy auto show in Detroit this year. Today Cadillac released this teaser of their upcoming ELR luxury electric hybrid. Based on Voltec technology, the Cadillac ELR will begin production in late 2013 at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant where the Volt is currently built. Rumor has it that the ELR will forgo the 1.4 liter engine the Volt uses and instead run with a new Opel engine displacing around 1.8 liters. Further backing that up will likely be a larger battery. I've been throwing around the idea of a used(40k and under miles) Cadillac ATS but it would have to have the 2.0T or 3.6. But after looking it seems the 3.6 are a little more than I'd like to spend and it isn't that perfect of a vehicle to overspend. So I was thinking.. First, as anybody driven one? What are your personal feelings about the car? Second, are there any known issues with the 2.0T that I should avoid or not? Is that the same 2.0 that was in the HHR SS and Cobalt SS? 2012 Cadillac SRX gains the LFX July 26th, 2011 Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com For 2012 Cadillac is dumping the smooth but overwhelmed 3.0 liter V6 and replacing it with the new LFX 308 horsepower V6 giving it a jump of 43 horsepower over the 2011 model. While the 308 horsepower is a good marketing bump, where consumers will feel the biggest change is in the torque rating. The outgoing 3.0 V6 produced just 223 lb-ft of torque at a lofty 5,100rpm. This meant that the driver would have to keep the engine rev higher even just for regular city driving. Indeed, the lack of torque was noted in our earlier review of the 2011 Cadillac SRX 3.0 and 2.8 Turbo. Cadillac rem…

And the Northstar in the DTS was weak for the segment it competed in anyway. So the V6 may be just as good as the V8 in the old DTS. Wow. Great news. It's still too weak for a full-size luxury sedan.
