Yesterday I was able to go to NAIAS for the Industry Preview. Overall, it was a pretty small show as expected. Nothing really glamorous or exciting. Ford had a pretty nice display, and the whole show was nice for what the industry is going through right now. However, again, there wasn't a lot of pizzazz, not much new, just kind of a bunch of dealerships in one place with a few concepts. I can't complain though; nobody in the industry has money to throw something new out there. After numerous teasers and various leaks coming out, Toyota rolled the Mk.5 Supra this morning in Detroit. Bringing the Supra to life required Toyota to bring in a partner. In this case, that happened to be BMW. That begins under the hood as there is a 3.0 twin-scroll turbocharged inline-six with 335 horsepower and 365 pound-feet of torque. So I’m back from 2 days of walking around the press preview days at NAIAS and....well Im very happy to be sitting down. Press days are a complete mad house. The best thing I can think to compare it to is high school. Did you ever have one class all the way on one side of the building...then the bell rings to go to the next class and your next class is allllll the way on the other side of the building. Someone at Lincoln Canada isn't having the best of days. The site revealed the 2016 Lincoln MKX before its official debut at the Detroit Auto Show on Tuesday. We're assuming this is an accidental leak judging by how the link to the MKX now leads to an error page. But nevertheless, we have pictures and some information about Lincoln's newest model. Buick will be unveiling the 2016 Buick Envision on Sunday at a preview event before the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. One piece of information we dug up is on the drive configuration. According to the VIN card for 2017, the U.S. market Envision will only be available in All-Wheel Drive while we already know that Chinese market vehicles can be configured with just front-wheel drive. The theme of Lexus' press conference for the introduction of the LC 500 was 'New Chapter'. It seems that rumor was true. The Nissan Qashqai will be coming to the U.S. later this year, but under a different name, the Rogue Sport. The Rogue Sport boasts the same shape and design cues as the larger such as the V-shape grille. Has it really been eight years since Hyundai revealed the Veloster? According to our calculations, the answer is yes. So today at the Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai debut not one, but two Velosters. We'll begin with the regular Veloster. The basic shape hasn't really changed, it has only been refined. The cowl and A-Pillar have moved slightly back to make way for a longer front end. Ahead of the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Jeep released images of the refreshed 2019 Jeep Cherokee and Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. By far the largest change is the face which now more closely resembles the Jeep Grand Cherokee and new Jeep Compass. The front light clusters have been merged into a single unit and are no longer low in the bumper with turn signal "brows" in a separate cluster.
