"As we say in the South: Dang, she's ugly." Registration required He basically says that there's not much point to it- they take a "..clone of the terrific Grand Cherokee" and add two "hilariously cramped and uncomfortable" extra seats. He also hates the styling, which I kind of agree with. In trying to Hummer up, they just made the thing look wierd.

WHISPERS: Chrysler Crossfire Production May Be Cut by as Much as Two-Thirds Date posted: 02-01-2006 FRANKFURT — A German newspaper is reporting that Wilhelm Karmann, the company that makes the Chrysler Crossfire for DaimlerChrysler, plans to cut jobs as part of a two-thirds reduction in Crossfire production. A DaimlerChrysler spokesman in Germany, quoted by the Dow Jones News Service, denied the report, calling it "an extremely pessimistic forecast that we don't accept." Nevertheless, the spokesman did acknowledge that some reduction in Crossfire production will take place. The Crossfire went into production in 2003, and it is intended to have a five-year life cycl…

Detroit plant wins Chrysler's new SUVs Jefferson assembly retooled for task BY TIM HIGGINS | Link to Original Article @ Detroit Free Press Early preparation has begun to retool Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant so the Detroit facility can be ready to launch the company's next generation of midsized SUVs as soon as late 2009, the Free Press has learned. The successors to the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango will be assembled at the Jefferson North plant in Detroit, people familiar with the situation said. The current Grand Cherokee is already assembled at Jefferson North, along with the Jeep Commander, which industry analysts said they believe will be pha…

2009 Jeep JT Concept This Skunkworks project could be the only way to get a pickup back in the Jeep lineup July 11, 2007 | BY ALISA PRIDDLE | Link to Original Article @ Car & Driver In the five years of Chrysler’s Mopar skunkworks program, where designers are given carte blanche with existing production vehicles, the biggest idea to make it into mainstream production is the Sky Slider full-length retractable canvas roof on the new 2008 Jeep Liberty. It hailed from the Liberator skunkworks project from almost three years ago. But the informal group of volunteers at the skunkworks could gain major credibility if the automaker decides to go ahead with the Jeep JT (J…

Since everyone gets a shot at how they would fix brands/companies, I figure I'll give it a go. And no, nothing is being sold off. Dodge: The brand stands for bold, designs that don't follow the crowd, powerful, and performance oriented. Dodge isn't badly damaged IMO, and there are some easy thing that could properly repair it. Ram: Ram is up for redesign, the powertrains seem promising, as does the styling. Give it a truley great interior and it should be in good shape Charger: Give the 2.7L a 5-speed automatic, and improve the interior design/materials some. Magnum: Add 5-speed to the 2.7L Caliber: Upgrade the materials in the interior, teh design itself is…

Spied: Jeep Scrambler Concept/AEV Brute According to Eric Ridenour, the Jeep Gladiator was axed because it required its own unique platform. A production Jeep truck, if approved, would have to be based on an existing body-on-frame architecture, which brings us to the Wrangler pickup prototype we spotted in Detroit, as it was being transported between two off-site facilities for final assembly work. A Wrangler pickup has been rumored for quite some time, with the name Scrambler mentioned. Read "The Jeep Scrambler: Wrangler-based Pickup" @ Allpar

Chrysler, UAW talks heat up Negotiations over labor contract progress as United Auto Workers union gives notice of potential strike. October 8 2007: 3:51 AM EDT DETROIT (AP) -- The United Auto Workers put Chrysler LLC on notice that a strike is possible if contract talks stall, a person briefed on the talks said, but a labor expert said the union's action could be a bargaining tactic. The union on Sunday gave Chrysler a 72-hour notice of a potential strike, the person said, but it was unclear exactly whether the notice would end on Tuesday or Wednesday. Bargainers working in committees made progress during the weekend but still have much work to do on difficult…

I actually saw a 2008 Caliber SRT4 today, and was reasonably impressed. I think it falls into the same category as the SRT4 based on the Neon for me, I don't "mind" the base vehicle, but the SRT4 package on either is almost a different car to me. It didn't seem outrageously expensive, just over the $25,000 mark, it was a heckuva "bang for the buck" deal for someone.... it was on a car lot but it was already sold. I wonder if it was an ordered car, it was the first one I have ever seen. The hood wasn't just a single scoop in the middle, I thought the single hood scoop was what they were getting? Cool little interior too!

The Chrysler Pacifica is often considered the best of a very small market. There are only five mini-vans left on the market, and only one of those has all-wheel drive optional, the Toyota Sienna. That stat could be changing if rumors about the Chrysler Pacifica prove true. According to Automotive News, Chrysler is hard at work on an AWD option for the Pacifica. While not officially confirmed by Chrysler, the union chief for the Windsor plant where Pacifica is built appears to have spilled the beans. If AWD does come to the Pacifica, it may not be until the 2021 model year. Adding AWD would be likely help to boost sales in the North East US and in Canada. Chry…

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090608/ap_on_..._court_chrysler WASHINGTON – Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Monday delayed Chrysler's sale of most of its assets to a group led by Italy's Fiat, but didn't say how long the deal will remain on hold. Ginsburg said in an order that the sale is "stayed pending further order," indicating that the delay may only be temporary. Chrysler LLC has said the sale must close by June 15, or Fiat Group SpA has the option to walk away, leaving the Auburn Hills, Mich., automaker with little option but to liquidate. A federal appeals court in New York approved the sale Friday but gave opponents until 4 p.m. EDT Monday to tr…

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=103235 Sharp car, I've always loved the exterior styling and design, as well as the well-crafterd interior. I wish Chrysler would use this and Airflite styling on all its vehicles, Pacifica and Town & Country included. My family friend just got a red 2004 coupe recently, he loves it. If I were to buy a 2-seater, this would be it, hands down.

Chrysler puts '06 vehicles in used lots Automaker allows dealers to add deep discounts in effort to unload cars and trucks Josee Valcourt / The Detroit News In a last-ditch effort to unload 2006 cars and trucks, Chrysler allowed its dealers to designate the new vehicles as "loaners" for as little as one day before selling them as used for steep discounts. The unusual sales tactic came at the end of May as the Auburn Hills-based division of DaimlerChrysler AG was trying to finish the month on a strong note. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep dealers can use new vehicles as loaners for test-drives or for customers who need a car while theirs is in service. In the past, dealers …

Cerberus Spins Nardelli’s Bankruptcy Talk Turning around Chrysler could be biggest challenge. by Joseph Szczesny (2007-12-24) Link to original story on TCC Cerberus Capital Management LLC had to discard one of its principal operating principles Friday as it scrambled to repair the damage done by some loose talk by chief executive Robert Nardelli. I know that it's still a hideous car and not up to snuff, but I have to say that I feel its interior looks better in black. Or as Chrysler calls it, Dark Slate Grey. I had an opportunity to sit in a Touring model with this colour interior, and although the plastics are still blah and dreary, they somehow take on a more substantial appearance to me when presented in black. And, the leather on the wheel felt great! When I get an opportunity, I will obtain pictures. I went to autotrader.com (lol) to look at the insides in black because I liked it.

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/hot_li..._spied/(page)/1 Chrysler may be teetering on bankruptcy, but product development soldiers on, as evidenced by these spy shots of the successor to one of the company’s most popular and successful models, the Jeep Grand Cherokee. Clearly visible is the new model’s significantly longer wheelbase and rear overhang, suggesting that it has grown a bunch and may accommodate a third-row seat. According to our shooter’s sources, the styling looks a bit like the way-cool Jeep Trailhawk Concept from the 2007 NAIAS, sans the T-bar roof and with normal-sized windows and wheels. Through the camo we can see quad headlamps, a leaning seven…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 18, 2013 When we have brought you spy shots of the next-generation Chrysler 200, it was usually under the cloak of a Alfa Romeo Giulietta. But this week, the first spy shots of the next-gen 200 in its own flesh has been released. While Chrysler went crazy with the amount of camoflage on this mule, we can take away some information about the new 200. For starters, the next-gen 200 will adopt a four-door coupe silhouette. It also looks like the 200 will come with a short decklid with a spoiler. There isn't as many clues with the front end, though we're guessing a sleeker look is in play. Power will come from two…

Rumormill: Chrysler cancels development of Phoenix V6 engines Posted Oct 21st 2008 1:28PM Link to Autoblog The Chrysler rumormill is running at full steam for obvious reasons, and the latest talk surrounds Chrysler and its $3 billion Phoenix V6 engine program. Word on the street is that the project has been canceled, which makes abundant sense if in fact a Chrysler merger is imminent. If a deal to merge Chrysler with either General Motors or Renault/Nissan materializes, both potential mates have V6 engines that are vastly superior to anything nestled under the hood of a Chrysler, Dodge or Jeep. Why would either automaker want to spend $3 billion for something it alrea…

Task Force Agrees Automaker Needs Advertising -- Just Not $134 Million Worth DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- Chrysler wanted to spend $134 million in advertising over the nine weeks it's expected to be in bankruptcy -- the U.S. Treasury's auto-industry task force gave it half that. So if GM, which is wrestling with the possibility of a Chapter 11 filing itself, is wondering how much influence the task force will have over marketing, the answer is: plenty. However, transcripts from the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Southern District of New York, where the Chrysler case is being heard, proved for the first time that the task force at least understands that advertising is a necessar…

According to Chrysler's own, in-house press release site and Auto Trim (http://auto-trim.org/2013/11/22/2014-chrysler-300s-a-factory-black-out-theme/) the 2014 Chrysler 300S is slotted to come with an optional, blacked out exterior. Highlights include a gloss black roof, gloss black belt line and blackened head and tail light beels for a so-called toughened look. NO idea what this all really means, however, as their were no images provided. Anyone have any information on this? I'm excited to see images if anyone has them.

Also, someone over at GMI pointed this out...go check out the Chrysler website. There is a button for "Ask Dr. Z" that takes you nowhere. On the Sebring page, there is a contest titled "My life. My car. My mess." to find the messiest car. Then, on the Sebring page, you click on details for more info and just get some pictures, like clicking on the 2.4L button just shows you a picture of the Sebring engine. And on the exterior pictures link under "style," all the Sebrings are photoshopped into the background image. Seriously, what gives?

Chrysler Has No Firepower ...plans, that is. Not anymore. Against this backdrop, the auto maker has said no product will enter its pipeline unless it has realistic profit poten…

Talk Picks Up Momentum building for production version of concept Jeep truck By RICK KRANZ | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Published 02/12/06, 3:19 pm et CHICAGO - Will Jeep get a pickup? Frank Klegon, the Chrysler group's executive vice president for product development, says enthusiasm at the company remains high for a production version of the Jeep Gladiator concept pickup that debuted at the 2005 Detroit auto show. "That is pretty hot," Klegon said at the auto show here. "I like the Gladiator. I think it is real cool. That (concept) was built on a product base, it has a platform, and that has a much better chance of seeing the light of day than something tha…

We've already seen GM and Ford issue their pleas for government loans, and now it's Chrysler's turn. The only privately-owned automaker of the three released a 13-page document outlining the aid it seeks from the Feds and how it plans on spending our hard-earned cash. If you want to read the full text, it's available after the jump. But the condensed version follows. Chrysler is requesting a $7 billion "secured working capital bridge loan" by December 31st, citing the collapse of the light-duty vehicle market, the U.S. financial crisis and the global downturn in the economy as reasons it needs cash. It estimates by the end of the year it will only have $2.5 billion in w…

Responding to word that Chrysler may begin selling off assets and brands soon, Chrysler Vice Chairman and President Tom LaSorda admitted that while the automaker is keen to consider parting with "non-earning assets" or assets that "may be coming due,'" Chrysler "...will not separate the brands from the company." That means that among other things, the struggling automaker may sell tooling for previous-generation vehicles or those on the way out, but it will not part with plants or nameplates. In a post on Chrysler's Firehouse media blog, LaSorda is quoted as saying "What was reported that we're in discussions to sell the Jeep brand is absolutely false... we will not sep…

I've read on various foums that dealers can't seem to keep the Challenger in stock. Yesterday I went to my local dealer to see if they had anything. In a sea of minivans and Avengers there was not a Challenger to be found. I asked the sales rep how they were selling and he told me as fast as they can get them. They got one in last week and it was on the lot for only two days. I think this is an example of how America cars should be made. They shouldn't be designed to be me-too Japanese wannbes. They should be proud of their heritage and designed and engineered to reflect that. So is this the scenario in your neck of the woods?

A Dodge Polo? Only in America VW and Chrysler talk about partnership for small car Jason Stein Harald Hamprecht Automotive News / January 23, 2006 - 6:00 am Chrysler’s US muscle brand Dodge could get a new entry-level car for North America – based on the Volkswagen Polo. Chrysler, the North American division of DaimlerChrysler, wants a small-segment car in the US to better react to the trend toward small, fuel-efficient vehicles there. The two companies finalized a deal at the Detroit auto show earlier this month for Chrysler group to build a US-market minivan for VW in 2008. Chrysler executives confirmed at the show that the two companies are talking about furthe…

from a report on Edmunds Although the Hemi-powered Charger sedan and Magnum wagon attract most of the attention at Dodge dealers right now, the 2008 Dodge Avenger should get its fair share of looks when it goes on sale early next year. Smaller than the Charger sedan, the Avenger will replace the outdated Stratus in the Dodge lineup. It won't have Hemi power, but judging by our most recent spy photos the Avenger will at least look like the Charger. Up front it uses upturned headlights to frame a crosshair grille while the deep front air dam gets larger air intakes and foglights. Judging by the strategically placed camouflage on the prototype, the Avenger will also shar…

2011 Chrysler Lineup Impressions Part II Tuesday I made a trip to the Newcomb Motors, our local Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealer. They had a different assortment of 2011s and were nearby, so it I decided to check them out. Up first is the 2011 Patriot. As you may recall it received some pleasant updated for this model year. I think the blacked out lower trim adds a nice touch of ruggedness to it. 2011 Chrysler Lineup Impressions Part 1 can be found here. Inside it also received some subtle but noteworthy details. Gone is the old coporate steering wheel replaced by Jeep brand's handsome new one first seen on the Grand Cherokee. It also gets more soft touch m…

Analyst: Chrysler, not GM, in biggest danger The Associated Press July 3, 2008, 3:58PM ET Link to article Faced with soaring gas prices, a sputtering economy and a rapid U.S. market shift away from trucks, the U.S. auto industry's weakest player, Chrysler, may have to file for bankruptcy or sell its storied Jeep and Dodge Ram brands as early as next year, JPMorgan said Thursday. But rivals GM and Ford are likely to get through the rough patch and turn a profit in 2010. JPMorgan auto analyst Himanshu Patel dismissed the possibility of an imminent bankruptcy at GM, saying in a conference call with investors and media that such fears "are completely overblown." Th…

Dealers finally feel heard at Chrysler By Sharon Silke Carty, USA TODAY link to Original Article Chrysler dealers are "more optimistic than we've been in the last 20 years," says John Schenden, who owns Pro Chrysler Jeep in Denver and serves as a spokesman for dealers. Chrysler dealers have a new outlook about their business, an emotion many say they haven't faced in decades: optimism. With new leadership in place — including Jim Press, a former top Toyota executive — struggling Chrysler is set to make a rapid recovery, dealers say. They're even embracing the idea that Chrysler has to reduce its number of dealers and offer fewer models, moves that in the past…

In exchange, the CAW got Chrysler and potential partner Fiat SpA to agree to keep its two Chrysler assembly plants open even if bankruptcy is unavoidable, Lewenza said. General Motors and Ford Motor Co., which signed new CAW agreements earl…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 29, 2012 Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is on a mission to end to product overlapping among the divisions of Chrysler. At a media event last week and interview with Automobile Magazine, Marchionne said two vehicles will be gone. First will be the Chrysler Town & Country, leaving the lineup sometime after 2013. That will leave the Dodge Grand Caravan as the sole minivan. Marchionne said an upscale crossover will take the Town & Country's place, sometime in 2014/2015. Also saying goodbye is the Jeep Compass. The Compass will be leaving in August 2014. Marchionne is keeping quiet about its replacement, sayin…

Chrysler Dropping SWB Minivans The Chrysler group is betting that new crossover models will woo minivan buyers now that the automaker is dropping short-wheelbase minivans. Industry sources say the automaker will offer two mid-sized crossovers, developed on its new front-drive Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Avenger platform. The sources say the Dodge crossover is due in December and will be assembled in Chrysler's Toluca, Mexico plant, where the PT Cruiser is made. The Chrysler crossover will debut either in late 2008 or 2009. Frank Klegon, executive vice president of product development for the Chrysler group, said "in the future you will see some other things from us" t…

Today in Auburn Hills, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles presented their five-year plan to the press and investors. The plan divulges what's in store for all of the brands in the coming years. The last time Chrysler did this back in 2009, many of the items shown were accurate (minus Alfa Romeo). We're going to fill you in on the plans in store for all of the brands and the company itself in the next few years. Jeep Leading off the presentations today was Jeep. Brand CEO Mike Manley described the off-road brand as the "lead global brand" of the company. The brand plans on expanding its lineup from five nameplates to six and sell them in more countries. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 4, 2012 Chrysler design chief Ralph Gilles says design changes are coming for future Chrysler products. The current lineup is known for their boxy design aesthetic, but Gilles says that's not in line with the industry. Speaking at the annual Mackinac Policy Conference, a gathering of Michigan political and business leaders, Gilles says aerodynamics are becoming an important design aspect. He uses the Audi A7 and the new Toyota Avalon as vehicles that can have the aerodynamic design usually associated with sports cars. "The wind is starting to sculpt these vehicles," Gilles said. Gilles said Chrysler will be aba…

Today was Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' earnings report day and the results for the past year was a bit mixed. FCA reported a profit of 377 million euros (about $410 million) for 2015. This is a large decrease compared to the 632 million euros (about $689 million) profit for 2014. FCA attributes the decrease to investment costs and a large number of recalls on their vehicles. For the year, FCA said reported adjusted earnings increased 39 percent to 5.3 billion euros (about $5.75 billion) thanks to a strong performance in North America and a European market that is recovering. Total global deliveries for 2015 were 4.6 million vehicles. This is in line with 2014, but f…

One of the biggest critics of hybrid vehicles happens to be Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. But even he realizes that with upcoming fuel economy regulations, hybrids will have to play a key role in achieving this. “The house will make it” to the 2025 model year fuel economy targets, Marchionne said to the press today. “Hybrids become a very large component of that fleet. You can’t get it without the hybrids. It’s impossible.” Last year, Chrysler was ranked last among large automakers in the U.S. for fuel economy. Marchionne said the company is on track to meet the long-term fuel economy requirements by using such items as diesels and nine-speed aut…

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/16/autoblo...er-first-w-vid/ Ron Flint, president of Hurst Performance, is quick to let you know that founder George Hurst's original intent was to make hot rods for gentlemen. It is ironic, then, that for the revived company's 50th anniversary, it has thrown its energies into a car that isn't a hot rod, and certainly isn't for gentlemen: a Dodge Viper. Leaving the heart of the beast well enough alone, Hurst merely tinkered with some oily bits, stuffed the thing with leather, and then slathered it in a hue something like a monochrome sunset. Autoblog was invited to be the first to drive the Hurst 50th Anniversary Dodge Viper, and you k…
