Finally took the time to take some decent pictures... This is my project car, a 1999 Saturn SC2. I purchased it back in Indiana for $1,000 with a bad automatic transmission that wouldn't shift into reverse. Fortunately, it was able to drive itself home, though by the time I turned into my neighborhood, it would no longer upshift. First gear got it into the garage, where I tinkered on it here & there for the winter. I purchased a number of goodies for it, but the only thing currently done to it is a manual transmission swap with short shifter, and aftermarket wheels. The manual tranny swap probably ran about $500 once all was said & done. I dismantled th…

Ok, I just got an oil change this a.m. at 265,391. So, here was the Regal yesterday, reliably carting me to San Francisco, less than 2 hours away. The Regal with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background, taken from the bluffs immediately to the west of the Palace of the Legion of Honor, near the Presidio. Estimated mileage: 265,240. The Coit Tower, taken past the traditional multi-story bay window from a street in North Beach's Little Italy. The Transamerica Pyramid, taken from a side street near Columbus Avenue, the main thoroughfare through Little Italy. One of the towers on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, taken from Broadway before it slopes down t…

Well I picked up a set of ROH Drift-R wheels. They're made in Australia and ROH actually manufacturers wheels for Holden, so these fit very well on GTOs. I also got some all-season Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires, which are spectacular and totally transform the handling of the car vs. the stock BFG KDWS. They grip the road very well, and are hard to break lose (I have not broken them lose yet, but I have not gone at WOT yet. Still, the stock BFGs would have broken lose at some instances since I've had the Pirellis on). Anyways, here are the pics:

Well guys, after a 6 month affair with a 2007 Honda Civic Si, I have come back to GM. Today I traded the Honda and bought a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500: Regular Cab Short Bed Work Truck trim 4.8 V8 Power windows & locks, cruise, keyless entry Silver Birch exterior That V8 sounds awesome after driving a high-strung V-TECH for the last 8000 miles. I'm happy to be rejoining the enthusiasm here at C&G.

What I bought: 2015 Chrysler 200S V6 FWD - Nav & Premium Audio, Heated and Vented Leather Seats & Convenience Pkg (Dual Zone A/C, Htd. Steering Wheel, etc) The lease was up on our 2014 300S and it wasn't worth close to the buy out so it was time for something else. Why did I chose the much maligned Chrysler 200 you ask? Several reasons, really. Reason one: I got a really, really good deal on a lightly used 2015 that had never left dealer inventory. It is a hell of a lot of car for the money. A less than a year old car fairly well optioned that stickered around $31k and I picked up for $17,500 with only 5500 miles on the clock. Granted it was used…

Today was a nice day so I decided I'd wash, clay bar, and wax the GTO with a new ICE product from Turtle Wax. The clay bar works wonders (I've used it before on our old LSS and it did wonders to it's paint), and the Ice worked really well. It's basically a wax, but it's clear and you just apply it, let it sit for 5 minutes, wipe the area and then buff the area, and it looks great. It's much easier than your traditional paste wax and looks just as good; we'll see how it holds up (it claims it lasts for 3-4 months). The sun was making it so damn shiny I had to wear sunglasses because my eyes weren't liking the bright light too much. Oh, if you can guess the license plates …

I had a chance to snap a few pics of the Cutty today after returning from Pigeon Forge. I didn't take any pics of the back because the bumper that I still haven't replaced sort of ruins it all (the chrome is peeling off). OPGI has a holiday special on '71-'72 Cutlass rear bumpers so I'm going to order one soon. I'm also thinking about slapping a new coat of paint on it next year or the year after that (black this time).

I spent a good portion of Saturday afternoon & early evening and all-day yesterday to clean the entire Pontiac G6 (I even checked all the fluids and installed a new air filter). The car looks better than 'showroom' new and I got a lot of compliments from people passing by. I used my dad's driveway & garage yesterday to clean, wash, wax & detail the exterior of the G6, as my dad has a two-car gargae with one door and I have a two car garage with two doors and a wall separating them (it was easier to wax inside in the shade than in the sun at my house or my tight garage space). I didn't get to take too many pictures, but on the way home stopped by one of my …

I just bought this 1990 Buick Reatta for $700 and I was planning to use it for parts. However it only took a new battery to get it working great so I decided I will drive it and restore it. The body is pretty good on the car but the interior is a mess. However, I have a whole new interior waiting for it. It is a fully loaded coupe with 16-way seats and the moonroof but the only option it doesn't have it the CD player.

Well a few months ago I decided to do a little dress up on my grille and add some much needed fog lights. So I decided to do a poor man's billet grille and used 3M chrome body side molding to create the updated grille and then mounted my new oval ( grille shaped) fog lights in the grille. At night the reflection off the chrome and front bumper lights up the grille R which I love. Anyway sorry for the huge pics and bad quality of the photos but my camera is over 10 years old...lol Hope you like the look. BTW I took these photos at a local Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealer just so the Riv was among family when showing off it's new look. These last 2 shots are…

I just bought a 2006 Pontiac G6 GTP Hardtop Convertible. I love it. The styling is top notch, as are fit and finish. The retractable hardtop works perfectly. The 227 hp, 3.9 L has plenty of pickup and it's fun to drive. All this for $32K MSRP. Great job Pontiac!!!!

*sigh* For all the headaches this car has caused me over the past year, I've got to acknowledge that other than routine maintenance, it didn't yield extra repair costs for ten years. It was also my first car. I'm gonna miss the little guy, no matter how much better it's replacement is.

It's a 1992. In the near-term future, I will have to sell it. I figure that, with less than 20,000 miles to go to hit the BIG 250,000, I'll keep it that long. Ok, the guidebooks say about $ 1,400. ARE THERE PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WOULD PAY $ 1,200 to $ 1,400 for a car (in excellent shape, mind you) that has a QUARTER OF A MILLION MILES?

Figured I'd post the replacement for my brother's wrecked Ranger. It's a Nissan, as you can see. I think it's a 1993. It has about 130k miles on the odometer and it's a stick. I'm not sure if it's a V6 or a 4cyl as I haven't asked nor looked to see for myself. I think he got it for $1k or so. It's a little rusty, but seems more solid than his Ranger was, which is certainly good. It supposedly runs pretty well.

This car was bought to teach my daughters how to drive in however . . . Marie (named after her first and original owner) was a rare find. In 1984 Grandma Marie's (not mine) 1968 Chevy was rusting out and was in need of many repairs. She drove to the local Chevrolet Dealer with Grandpa to get a new Chevrolet only to find ones that had more luxury features than she wanted to deal with, so she ordered Marie just the way she wanted her; 4-cyl. (Iron Duke), 4 speed manual, Air Conditioning and a rear defroster. Over the next 20 years Marie was driven 259k miles without a single major part replacement, including her clutch plate, engine, starter, steering rack, etc. Her fi…

Well I feel like a big loser for still not posting my 1959 Buick LeSabre two-door post sedan, or the "Banana Boat" 1977 Cadillac Coupe deVille in this sub-forum. Both of these old GMs are, in different ways, project cars of mine. The Buick was used as a daily driver for 7000 miles last summer, and is now receiving some over-due TLC. The 49 year old 364 cubic inch V8 is half appart. The Banana on the other hand is my current daily driver, a 4500lbs. "coupe" powered by a seven liter pushrod Cadillac block. 13 mpg is about all I'm getting since I drive it like I stole it. Not very condusive to $4.15/ gallon gasoline prices, esp. since I driv…

This is my 1988 GMC Sierra. It was my paps then he gave it to my Aunt and Uncle because he bought a 1994 Chevy Silverado. My Aunt and Uncle bought a 1997 Chevy Silverado and then gave the 88 to me. I did a lot of different things to it with my dad and the one was chainging the grill from a GMC to a Chevy. It has a 350 in it with Flathead Pistons and a high performance camshaft. Me and my dad just rebuilt the top end of the motor and it runs great!

Considering my Grandpa sold his Silverado to my cousin (who recently turned it over) and sold my Grandma's Cobalt to me... That puts him without a vehicle. The day I bought the Cobalt off of him, he replaced it with a new vehicle after I gave him a ride. He wanted something with AWD/4WD and that was easier to get in and out of than the Cobalt. Well, I finally had enough of that noisy Metro. It ran great but after working on a loud flightline all night I wanted a smooth, comfortable, relatively quiet drive. And I wanted something fun to drive. So, Tammy and I decided to look at a couple of different cars and by accident we found my new daily driver. Its a 2000 Fixed Roof Coupe and has the wonderfully fun 6-speed. We paid $19,400 and I was driving to work for about a week. Now the reason I hate that Chevy dealership. The sales manager was a jerk when negotiating. He was actually yelling by the time it was over. We were honest up from with what we could afford and he acted like he thought we had a lot more t…

So, a couple weeks ago I was driving my Regal when the unexpected happened. Since it was a 99 with 205,000km, it didn't take too much damage to write it off. Not the end of the world since everyone was ok and I wanted to replace the car anyway. So, the new car search started. Originally I planned to go brand new... A Fusion or Malibu... but the more I thought about it, the more I figured it wouldn't be a good idea to have a decent sized car payment weighing me down. Even a Focus or Elantra would cost me over $300 a month with what I had to put down, and that is a lot of money for a car I probably wouldn't even like. So, on to the used car search. I decided I want…

Okay... so rememebr how my buddy Sean owed me like $2600+ from our crazy roadtrip to No. Carolina when I sold his 1969 Camaro on eBay? I know in the thread about my '67 Eldorado I said it would be the last old car I got for a long time, but..... ..... there's been an old car sitting down at my father's shop for the past decade. It belongs to a friend of the other owner of the place. It's always sorta been in the way no matter where it was put, and lately it's really been a nuisance because it's been sitting in the end of a building that needs to have a floor poured in it to be used for storage. The possibility of junking the car has come up a few times, but it never happened because its owner wanted to hang onto it. My father's friend told me he was going to the owner's house last Saturday to ask him on…

She is fun to play around with. Completely stock. Officially, my record is 1-2. :( I raced a camaro and beat him once, then he beat me. It was a modified 96 with exhaust and some other goodies. I think he let me win though the first time. Then i raced an 05 mustang GT and got basically whooped on. At any rate, I beat a lot of rice cars, but I dont count that in my official record!

Guess what 2006 GM vehicle this is off of: [attachment=95:attachment] [attachment=96:attachment] It's my new 2006 G6 GT with all the trimmings. Well, I finally traded off my 01 suburban yesterday. It had 187,245 miles on it when I dropped her off at the dealer. I put most of the miles on. My dad put on the first 30000 before I got it. What a great vehicle. That many miles and nothing but a new fuel pump, tires, and oil changes. (oh and a brief problem with the onstar, but it was warrantied) I traded up to a used 03 loaded with everything but DVD with about 80000 miles on it. Gave the Cutlass it's first bath since October and figured some pictures were in order. The paint color looks fabulous when wet. And now, the aforementioned Brookvillian roamings. The photography isn't the best. I meant to take these in more daylight but washing it turned out to be an all day job. It was a dirty little Beast. Also, I really need to upgrade to a better camera. The annoying auto-focus and inability to take a non-blurry picture in low light is beginning to get on my nerves. Also, yes, next time I take pictures of the Cutlass with the lights on, I should probably make sure they all light up first.

It had been like 18 months since I took my car to a drag strip, felt good to be making passes again. Pics taken Dec 21st at El Paso Motorplex: The mustang beat me, it's running some serious boost and got me at the top end.

Well it has been a really long time since I have posted anything regarding my Reatta in a long while. Well I was going to drive my Reatta down to Carlisle but my grandmother had to have surgery and I had a Reatta club meeting event in Niagara Falls that Sunday so my weekend was full. I am getting the car ready now for an all-Buick show in Cheektowaga, NY at the end of July. Anyways, the car has been repainted and the body work has been done nicely. I got a few interior items fixed too like the console cover, removed the ugly purple rear window tint someone had put on and so on. Anyways, here are some various pictures from weeks past. The car has only been out of the paint…

A few weeks ago I submited a brief description of my car and some pics to the American Muscle Car Association wesite. By this morning when I checked my email I had almost forgoten all about it. I was shocked and quite pleasantly surprised to find a link to the story of my Camaro and a few photos posted on their homepage as a link under the title of "Feature Car Story, 1968 Camaro" Check it out. I'm so proud... now I'm famous for my burnout pic. in Car Craft and now my beloved Panther has been "featured" online! They spelled my name Sylvester (it's Silvester wiht an "i") but that's hardly worht mentioning. Click on t…

The 0 for 72 put the MAXX SS over the top for me and I broke down and bought it. I probably won't get it until Saturday. I'll post pics then. Hi-per tires XM 6-Disc On-Star Sunroof The REALLY sad part is that I will have to sell my 1996 Camaro Z28 Convertible. But my wife's lease on the G6 will be out in time for a new Z28... I couldn't go wrong with the 0% God, who would have thought I'd have two Epsilons in the driveway.

1998 Suburban LS K1500 (K = 4WD) Very nice shape -power windows -power locks -roof rack -3rd row seat -5.7L V8 (gasoline) -"barn door" rear doors I was surprised when I started looking at Suburbans at just how comfortable both seats of rear seats are. I could see myself being comfortable in any seating position for a long trip. We bought it because we recently moved to Idaho, and our Saturn coupes just aren't made to get along with hard packed dirt mountain roads. So, we have our Saturns for good fuel economy daily drivers, and the Suburban for hauling people (friends here, or friends & family that come to visit) and for rough-roading adventures. Plus we …

Spent the weekend in North Brookfield attending my first meet and modfest. I can honestly say I haven't had so much fun in a long time. Great food, great people, great cars, and lots of laughs. I posted what was done to my car in it's own thread. I thought I'd share some from the rest of the meet with everyone who enjoys working on cars.

Well. Didn't want to get the blower. Wanted to wait another year. Decided wasn't gonna baby the decades old beater anymore Needed to get a new mower last year, but didn't. Planets aligned and picked these up, well they'll get delivered this week. Ariens. The mower has a SUBARU engine! The blower has fuel injection! No choke, no prime, sealed fuel system, no shut off. Can even use E10 in it if you want but i still plan to use only non oxygenated gas in it. Made in US.

Mom just picked up her Enclave and it was parked next to my wagon here at work. I could not resist snapping a photo of them side by side. It is amazing how far cars have come in a relatively short amount of time. The sfaety, economy, comfort, convenience...it is all LIGHT YEARS ahead of what was on the roads 51 years ago! I cannot imagine what cars will be like in another 50 years! What further amazed me is the length of the two cars - it is almost a dead heat between the two of them!

As seen in my other "Miles? Yes." thread here: http://www.cheersand...9201-miles-yes/ I finally got around to snapping better shots of my 200k (not yet...going to be a momentous time) 1996 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, I bought a few weeks back. The red really looks great in photos. Has a few scuffs and dings that don't show up until in person, and a typical rust bubble above the one rear wheel I wish wasn't there. Tires are brand new Michelins. Wheels nice but also could be nicer if the clearcoat wasn't clouded so much. Maintained extremely well, and rides beautifully. Vroom vroom. $2100. Still needs to be registered and inspected in DE. Outside cleaned up a little more, ante…

Welp, we finally got rid of my wife's G55 AMG. I've talked about it here a few times but there was something inherently wrong with it. It had left her stranded at least 5 times and us once. Luckily everything was covered under an extended warranty, so it was minimal out of picket and the loaners were covered or just given to us via a couple different Merc dealerships. Anyway, after getting stranded once since we've had our lil baby, my wife finally had enough of it. I tried convincing her a year or two ago when the market was nuts to bail on it and just make a bunch off of it. That didn't happen, hahaha. When we got her G55 back about a month ago, we were looking for…

I'll be starting a total frameoff restoration/rebuild/modification of my wife's 2002 GMC Yukon in the next couple weeks. I will chronicle the job here. Will post before pics soon. The plan is, take it down to the frame, sandblast and powercoat the frame and most things attached to it. Add an air locker to the rear end, lift it about 2inches. Modify it to use a stick transfer case instead of the push button setup it has, lockouts on the front wheels. Repaint it from white to purple, rebuild trans to handle larger tires, rebuild engine to about 350hp. Interior mostly stock but recover the seats and new carpet

Well, GM finally made me a happy guy :D About two weeks ago I get a call from one of many salespeople I've left my # with to call me once a new GMAC Pull-Ahead program arrived that included me (the '03 Buick Rendezvous lease was scheduled to end in January of 2006). Needless to say I didn't waste any time deciding if I wanted to get rid of the Rendezvous or not (we were extremely close to our total allowed mileage, so it really was a no brainer ;) ). After looking at several new "family" vehicles (see my other thread in the Lounge on the new addition to the family), we went with a 2005 GMC Envoy. It is a 4wd SLT model in Monterey Maroon Metallic with the two-toned…

Well I just picked it up, and all I can say is OOOOOOO MY GOD!! Now I know what I have been missing all my life, a LS1!! I couldn't keep it on the streets for too long, because it doesn't have a plate or insurance, but this thing is awesome. The exhaust sounds better then I could have imagined. I didn't even use the radio, the sweet exhaust note kept me wanting more. Sooooo, without further delays, the pics...... http://s38.photobucket.com/albums/e145/schuby87/

This occurred on Oct 30. I have been away from here since about August, only popping in from time to time, but I figured I would bring some news. Had to get my almost 16 year old teenager a ride and didn't want to give up my Impala.. nor have her rolling around in a compact. She gets her height from me.. and is already 5'9. I told her the budget was $22K with no sports cars (she wanted a damn Camaro... a 16 year old.. with a Camaro) I said "no..." so she looked at used everything else. I'm really proud of her because she looked at a Fusion, Malibu, Escape, an '07 SRX (yes the Boxy one) a used CTS, a 300.. and finally said to me "Daddy.. I kno it has to be Americ…

When Marcia's away the Tight Whips Car Club will play. Since this sunday at around noon the Camaro will be on a car trailer headed to Upstate New York I thought that it was only right to have one last earth shakin', tire fryin' burnout spectacular! Me & Speeding Penguin drove to an undisclosed location in New England and took some photos of the Malibu next to the Panther-Camaro. Then the fun began right when the tape started rolling. Make sure to check out the video, it's a quicktime. At one point I think I starved the car of fuel with the constant Gs. Then I flooded it but as you will see it started up fine. We have three videos all togeather but I…

"It's different now" __ Conway Twitty __ 'Goodbye Time' Irony rocks. I've recently learned that, in ~1 year, I'll lose the year-round garage storage (heated in winters) that I've appreciated the last 10+ years. The couple that owns the house, building & property is moving to SC. I will not have the funds needed to buy the place, though I would LOVE to live there. So, since other similar storage options in the area are more expensive, unemployment continues & medical bills are still due ... it's probably time to sell my MCs. Yep, life is still good. It's just frustrating to watch things for which I've worked hard disappear due to no fault of my own. At leas…

As most of you know my wife bought a Camaro, sight unseen on Ebay. This might be most guys dream, but my wife didn't see if it could seat 4. See, this Camaro has a 4-point roll cage bar, instead of 4 seats. To make a long story short, it's now up for sale. I got some decent pictures of it after having it detailed and some minor issues taken care of (center console replaced). You can check out the pictures at Camaro ad. The other cars are also for sale because she doesn't need 3 cars, and I want a new one. HHR in Craigslist / HHR in Autotrader Park Avenue in Craigslist / Park Avenue in Autotrader
