I've been holding off on showing it, but what the hell, we're using it now so here we go. It's a 1990 Chrysler Town and Country. This was a gift to my mom for Christmas from a family friend's father. My mom's friend's husband's father to be exact. Not confusing at all! Anyway, he's an older gentleman, in his 70's or so. The story goes that he was driving down the middle of the road an apparently hit something, or multiple things...I have no idea what. As it turns out the police found out and followed him all the way home without him even realizing it. When he got home and got out the police (3 cars BTW) asked him to hand over his license. So he lost his license, it was…

After remarking to me several times that she wanted a more sporty 4door compact car.. and was considering trading in her Equinox (Below) for a Cruze or Sonic (no shit), my 17 year old wanted to make a move. We started discussing logistics. College is coming up... and a few weeks ago my she was accepted and received several academic scholarship offers from various well known colleges both in and outside of MD. She pointed out to me that she still loved the previous Cruze because it was more bold.. and if she were to get a new one.. it would be a hatch. We test drove both.. used and new Cruzes, no Sonics.. because i deemed it too small. In the end she saved dad a bunch of m…

Well, GM finally made me a happy guy :D About two weeks ago I get a call from one of many salespeople I've left my # with to call me once a new GMAC Pull-Ahead program arrived that included me (the '03 Buick Rendezvous lease was scheduled to end in January of 2006). Needless to say I didn't waste any time deciding if I wanted to get rid of the Rendezvous or not (we were extremely close to our total allowed mileage, so it really was a no brainer ;) ). After looking at several new "family" vehicles (see my other thread in the Lounge on the new addition to the family), we went with a 2005 GMC Envoy. It is a 4wd SLT model in Monterey Maroon Metallic with the two-toned…

My dad felt it was not right to spend the extra money for a 77 Cutlass Supreme coupe...so i had to settle for a Century coupe...not even a Regal! Dug up an old pic. RWD! real car! LOL less than 100hp! I miss this car, even though I would have preferred a Cutlass. I even had mounted an under dash CD player in this thing. One of the first mobile CD players there was, from radio shack. Self applied pin stripe from probably K Mart! is that a SWEEPSPEAR i see?

Finally got around to dropping the fuel tank in my dad's old Dodge. Per Murphey's law, it was chock full of gas and took forever to drain, but the job is done and the tank out. Along the way I discovered what was causing the car to stall and not restart. Although we suspected that crud in the tank ws causing the problem, the actual cause was a bit of a surprise. Yes, there was a fair amount of sediment in the gas - but the real problem became obvious as I poured the last of the fuel from the tank. An approximately 2"inch square chunk of an old leaf flowed out of the filler neck as I tipped it up! That'll stop the fuel delivery in a hurry. So next will be having the tank…

Ever get one of those opportunities you never thought you would? I was given one over the weekend. I'm a manager at a local auto parts store and a guy named Cadillac Bill comes in often to buy stuff from me and we usually talk $h! and laugh and stuff for a while. He's called Cadillac Bill because he's been buying and selling Cadillacs for a living for nearly thirty years. Periodically he tells me about his finds and things he thinks I might be interested in. Remember my white 1971 Coupe DeVille I bought at the beginning of the summer? Turns out I unknowingly bought that car out from under a friend of his who was very interested in it for a good deal less …

PROJECT ACHIEVA It is coming up on 3 months since I bought my 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva S. Here is an update on some of the things I have done in that time. First up, was a complete cleanup of the engine bay. Here is what it looked like on June 4th (2 days after I got it): And here it is August 15th (with new alternator and battery): I spent a few hours every morning cleaning by hand. A labour of love...and not quite finished yet. The hood was the hardest part (in terms of bending to get to all the small spots) I also added some blue LED bulbs for the footwell lights. They add a nice touch complementing the cars colour. I hope to get better ones t…

Thought, I would start a thread on my husband and my 1957, Series 62 Cadillac. His deceased dad gave it to us, it was originally one of the cars from his uncles collection. We, been working on it in his buddy's garage. We just began the process of kicking around the idea of selling the car. We really need to make room at our place, if we decide to keep it. I know some might say, keep the Caddy for sentimental reasons, but really, his dad was all for selling the car. He just would not be pleased, if we accepted a low ball offer. So far, got a lot of "interest" and turned down a lot of offers. Now, I want to make clear, I am not using this forum to try and sell the …

What I bought: 2015 Chrysler 200S V6 FWD - Nav & Premium Audio, Heated and Vented Leather Seats & Convenience Pkg (Dual Zone A/C, Htd. Steering Wheel, etc) The lease was up on our 2014 300S and it wasn't worth close to the buy out so it was time for something else. Why did I chose the much maligned Chrysler 200 you ask? Several reasons, really. Reason one: I got a really, really good deal on a lightly used 2015 that had never left dealer inventory. It is a hell of a lot of car for the money. A less than a year old car fairly well optioned that stickered around $31k and I picked up for $17,500 with only 5500 miles on the clock. Granted it was used…

Two Gay Indians, One Big Fight And I End up with a little Red Riding Hood!!! The little Red Riding Hood! As many of you know I posed a question about which car to choose from the two wholly different animals – 2009 Chevy Cobalt New and 2005 BMW 330i Used, I promised to follow up with the results. Although, I asked the question two months too late, the answers you gave me did not make me feel regretful for having made the decision. The Precursor: I met J and M back in Bombay while finishing my undergraduate school (there you go P-C-S, you now know my origin). They were one of the fewest homosexual couples in India who were open about their …

So I took a ride up to New Hampshire on Friday morning and this little guy followed me home: About three weeks ago or so now, on the way back from a junkyard with SpeedingPenguin, I spotted this thing sitting up at the road in front of a local garage. Being a fan of big tanks in general, and the Cadillacs of 1971 in particular (I love those separated quads; they make the car look ten feet wide!), I of course made it a point to stop and look at it, and I'm glad I did. The car has just about 103K on it, but was taken care of very well; the body has no rot really anywhere save for a tiny amount on the bottom of the rear quarters, and the black interior is perfect, save fo…

As you guys know, I purchased my red '98 Tahoe 2-door Z71 to replace the ROPOS plow truck and my green '95 Tahoe 2-door. Green isn't on the market yet, but the ROPOS is gone so I am starting to optimize Mr. Red. Just doing damage control mostly at this point since all sorts of little problems have cropped-up since the purchase. But, there are other plans in the works. Today I replaced the auto 4WD dash switch (known for going bad) which quit on me after plowing here for the first time the other day. I also ordered a new window/door lock switch to replace the current one which fails intermittently (and locked me out of the vehicle capping a really bad day not long afte…

Ah, those luscious locks of the American redneck just sprouted from my scalp like never before! I have just purchased the poster child for all things 'Murica, the Pontiac Firebird. It will gradually replace the Avalon as I look to sell that car. But you're probably not interested in that. The details: 1998, 3800 V6, 5-speed, T-Tops, and just under 124k. No rust, a few scratches here and there, a small dent from the previous owner's kid, and originally a whole lot of muck. After a full detail, it shines up fairly well and looks fairly good for its age.

Went to see my friend Donald today and check out his new CTS. Along the way I had some target practice. "Bandit in sight, 12 o'clock. Closing." "Target acquired. Weapons hot." "Fox 3! Splash one Prius." So, here's his car and mine. You know my boat; his is a 2007 Cadillac CTS 2.8 automatic. Lovely little car and while not the most optioned-out Caddy, its a definite step up from his '02 SL2. He has a 3yr/39,000 miles lease for around $299/mo.

Well the poor old Shadow is basically at the end of its life. The body rot is pretty horrendous and its having issues overheating, along with lots of other issues that have crept up lately. So with that he decided it was time for a new car. He had been looking for a second gen Grand Cherokee but in the end settled with something quite different: a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 for $4,500. I think he did quite well. It's got just over 100,000 miles. Body is in great shape. No rust at all. Interior is very clean and in good shape except for a few small things (missing radio button). The V6 is very smooth and might as well be brand new by the way it sounds. Very peppy too. The tran…

As most of you know my wife bought a Camaro, sight unseen on Ebay. This might be most guys dream, but my wife didn't see if it could seat 4. See, this Camaro has a 4-point roll cage bar, instead of 4 seats. To make a long story short, it's now up for sale. I got some decent pictures of it after having it detailed and some minor issues taken care of (center console replaced). You can check out the pictures at Camaro ad. The other cars are also for sale because she doesn't need 3 cars, and I want a new one. HHR in Craigslist / HHR in Autotrader Park Avenue in Craigslist / Park Avenue in Autotrader

...my new white beast of one If you followed my other long drawn out thread that went anywhere from taking over the lease on a 2nd G8 GT to buying a Solstice as a second car to leasing a new Outback, I was all over the map. But one thing remained solid. I ALWAYS wanted a big, luxurious truck and after years of my mother driving first an '02 Avalanche and then an '04 Suburban, there were none more than full size GM's that I wanted most. The Avalanche package really spoke to me, costing less than a Tahoe but being SO cool and adaptable, built out of a larger Suburban so killer ride quality and space, and a 5 seater. A BIG one. After shopping various 2wd & 4wd models,…

Hey guys. I picked up a new car on Saturday. Now, some of you may know me well enough to guess what kind of car I'd buy, but I'm counting on it that most of you would have no clue. It'll keep you guys guessing while I wait for an opportune moment to take pics. All I'll tell you is that I stuck to my budget of less than $25,000. I'll post pics on Saturday or Sunday, shortly after I take them.

...and now Zoom Zoom daily. Surprise Since I started working at the Ford, Mazda, Nissan and Hyundai dealer in July, I've gotten to experience and try out a lot of vehicles, see what real customers say about them and see them in service. I started in Nissan, then moved to Mazda and have been with them ever since. It's a complete experience, and the owner's are more fanatical than any I've seen of the brands on sight, and the performance, quality, etc. Mazda was a brand I honestly didn't know much about before, but became all about very quickly. First few days I got to take a new CX-9 Grand Touring for some errands and was wow'd. Months went by, and so did the Avalanche.…

BENTLEY Jaguar XKE (red leather interior) 1931 Model A Ford He had the Ford in high school and up until a few years ago. I always loved riding in the rumble seat, but it was prone to breakdowns. It has a feature installed that took advantage of the air intake system and by manipulating a little knob or lever, he could make it do a wolf whistle, or the regular kind (backwards wolf whistle). The Jag he had when he was in his mid 20s. He is a painter and traded one of his abstracts for that car. He was very popular with the ladies, or so he says, but with that car I believe it. The Bently I think he bought for about $15k, which even in the 70s was really cheap. It had …

...remember this car? Dad bought it back in '03, I think. I drove it first for my senior year of high school. Dad used it as a spare. Then my brother used it until he bought a Regal. In the meantime, it's remained a spare. 1993 Fleetwood Brougham, Cotillion White with Garnet Red interior. Factory white vinyl top. Has about 110k now. They rarely use or drive it, just takes up space. Still looks great but with age needs some stuff. The rear air ride shocks went out many years back. It sits fine with just a slight rear end drop but doesn't like to be loaded up. Runs strong with the TBI 350 and 4-speed. A/C needs recharged and figure out where the old refrigerant leaks …

So tonight after work I roped Sixty8 and his lovely new bride into taking a ride down to Warwick, Rhode Island (170-mile round trip) to pick up the latest addition to the fleet: a 1978 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with 94,000 miles and change on it. It's very clean for its age, everything works (except for the AC compressor, which is seized, which means I need a shorter belt if I want power steering!), colors are brown with a brown top and brown interior, and has very stylish late 80's Chevrolet truck wheels on it. Purchased for the paltry sum of $420, I plan to swap out the better parts (most notably the headliner board and the center section of the front bumper) with lesser q…

So I get a call from my wife yesterday. She says, "You shouldn't leave me home alone unsupervised". With that my mind wonders thinking maybe she caught the house on fire, broke something, etc. I then ask her why, She says that while looking at the vehicles for sale from the State of Oregon she saw a 2000 Camaro Z28 with an LS1 for sale that used to be a police vehicle. It only had 15 minutes left until the end of the auction and she couldn't get ahold of me so . . . as you could have guessed she bought it. At $3750, it was a steal. It didn't make me mad, it made me want her to full fill her duties as a wife. :AH-HA_wink: You can check it out the car at; 2000 C…

Well, I finally traded off my 01 suburban yesterday. It had 187,245 miles on it when I dropped her off at the dealer. I put most of the miles on. My dad put on the first 30000 before I got it. What a great vehicle. That many miles and nothing but a new fuel pump, tires, and oil changes. (oh and a brief problem with the onstar, but it was warrantied) I traded up to a used 03 loaded with everything but DVD with about 80000 miles on it. I got a decent deal on it and I know the guy who owned it before me and he always takes great care of his vehicles. Its not my favorite color, pewter, but whatev. I promised XP i would throw up some more pics of our old packard when i got the chance so true to my word here they are. we'll start out with the the car itself. 1955 packard clipper constellation, hardtop, emerald green/moonstone paint. powered by the middle road 352 4bbl had a factory automatic transmission that was later removed due to the lines clogging. Interesting story in itself is that instead of them taking the car to the dealership, the dealership sent some guys out with a manual transmission and dropped the auto out and put the manual in the car in my great aunt and uncles drive way. They purchased this car from the Packard dealership in Atlanta G…

Some of you have followed my new car trades over the past few years: 2001 Alero, 2002 Sentra SE-R, 2004 Grand Prix, 2006 Mariner Premier, 2007 Civic Si, 2008 Sierra WT, 2010 GTI.... The GTI was just too harsh for my taste, so I test drove the '11 Buick Regal, Lacrosse, Acura TSX, and TL. I researched (but did not drive) Avalon, G37, Lexus ES, Lincoln MKZ. Now there's a brand new 2010 Acura TL (Tech Pkg) in the garage. Bold, polarizing styling...yes. But overall, it's not much more dramatic than the '04 Grand Prix. One factor which attracted me to the TL: it feels like a luxurious, refined version of the GP, which was my favorite car of all time. So here we go! I …

Well, my Bonneville was getting oh so dirty. The cloth seats had crumbs in them (a first for this car) the carpet was dirty and had grass shaving, the car had 5 weeks of dirt on it, the tires weren't shiney, and the exhuast tips had 24 weeks of black dirt build up on them. It was time to clean her, sadly the SLE didn't get waxed only washed and detailed. On Saturday afternoon I washed the car for my son as he went to his last homecoming of his high school career with a cute friend of his. And me being ths softy I am washed it for him and then let him drive it! What was I thinking? Anyways I am sure he got the cobs out of it, prolly not a bad thing, but not that I don'…

So our 1986 Fleetwood Brougham was sold on Thursday night at 8:00pm. A guy who lives about 1.5 miles away took for a testdrive, gave me a few $100s & $20s and shook my hand as I gave him the keys. Shortly after my wife Julie & myself were in the back of the Banana Boat (the famous Tight Whips yellow '77 Coupe deVille) on our way to South Boston. XP and his g/f gave us a ride down so we could pick up Julie's new hoopty. The car in question was on craigslist for several weeks, no photos in typical fashion. It was located close to University of Massachusetts, right by the famous JFK Library, in So. Boston off Rt. 93. 1982 Mercedes Benz 240 D, four door s…

Picked her up this morning for $600 off two dorky yuppie brothers in Bow, NH. Runs, drives, shifts, and stops. Incredibly solid (have the original Florida title from 1970) except for a little bubbling at the bottoms of the front fenders. Needs cosmetic love, but is mechanically awesome. Goes down the road straight, smooth, and quiet as a Cadillac should. Has a 2 year-old rebuilt transmission with a 50,000 mile warranty that is transferrable to me. It's gonna be me and the girl's backup car/summer beater. I'm glad to have picked it up; I've been having withdrawals since I traded Sixty8 the Banana for my Suburban, but now I once again have a driver!

I don't have it installed yet, but I will be once I have to drive up to Saginaw for a court date, then I will take pictures. I dont plan to use it much, just on long trips, etc.

So I bought my fourth Buick last night. I waited years to own a Buick after owning dozens of GM cars. My theory was that I was going for broke, my first Buick was going to be a '59 or nothing. Just two months after I brought my '59 LeSabre I had THREE Buicks in my driveway... the second being a '76 LeSabre four door hardtop powered by a 455 (later sold to FlyBrian) and an LT1 powered '94 Roadmaster Estate, now also long sold. While I loved my LT1 powered Estate I always wanted a steel roof sedan, esp. in a dark color, green, burgundy, black or gun-metal gray... Well last night I bougt (for $hort money even by my standards) a steel roof sed…

Well, I got this back in February (February 2nd, to be exact), I posted this on other sites I visit including my sites, but since I wasn't around here, I didn't post here. So here are some photos along with a video clip I have taken the next day I brought my baby home. The sun's glare made it a bit of a challenge to take a good photo, but at least my Samsung camera did a decent job on them, though not perfect. Yep, that's me right there, I am a fat little Asian dude as you can see in the clip. The features it has are: Sunroof, 6CD Changer with Monsoon 9 Speaker audio, Leather, Heated Seats, Sport Package(Fog lights, Dual Ex…

I cannot explain why I am so drawn to the 78-81 Chevy G-body coupe. I just am. This one weighs 2880 lbs, looks stock, runs 12's with an angry mouse motor and lots of Edelbrock goods.

Over the time, she has slowed down on the miles she rakes, but her ability to jump on the interstate and cruise has not. Yeah, yeah she is a Dub-body and not one of GM's best, but she has been my long faithful partner. View Vehicle

Well, I figured if I'm gonna get any good at this "blogging" thing, I'd better participate.. So here goes!! This is my 2004 Chevro..Daew... uh,... Chevwoo?.. Chevywoo? HUH?.. Ave?.. Kal?.. Whaa?? Avkaloseo? Ok, cut to the chase. My 2004 Chevy Aveo 5 door. This car was essentially salvage. It was not totalled however. The chick who owned it was DUI, and smashed the daylights out of it in a drunken escapade. She was esentially playing chicken with an Escalade and lost big time. The car would have been fixed by insurance, but her claim was obviously denied due to obvious blood alchohol level, so the bupyoung button sat for three years until it could be rescued. After…

I had the opportunity to meet Rivieraranch and have dinner with his family while in South Florida about 3 weeks ago. Rivieraranch posts primarily in the Buick forum. It was a good time and meeting such nice people added to the vacation. His LaCrosse CXL is in the background. It is Cardinal Red Metallic with the neutral leather interior. The fit and finish is quite nice. In the foreground is my rented base level Grand Prix with the white exterior and black cloth interior. It is amazing to think these two cars have the same underpinnings and engine/transmission yet provide such completely different driving experiences. Look at the sawgrass, palm trees and lush vegeta…

Name: BMW 330i Performance M Package (2005) Date Added: 19 December 2009 - 09:38 AM Owner: Z-06 Short Description: It is like the child one never wanted to have, but one ends up loving it because of its adorability. The car fell in my hands by accident despite of not "wanting" it. But it changed my perception of BMWs from expensive cars bought by snobs to a thorough track-bred vehicle. I still think it is an overpriced under equipped machine, but when I pull the 45mph curve at 70 mph, I am not complaining. View Vehicle

I know in the thread about my '67 Eldorado I said it would be the last old car I got for a long time, but..... ..... there's been an old car sitting down at my father's shop for the past decade. It belongs to a friend of the other owner of the place. It's always sorta been in the way no matter where it was put, and lately it's really been a nuisance because it's been sitting in the end of a building that needs to have a floor poured in it to be used for storage. The possibility of junking the car has come up a few times, but it never happened because its owner wanted to hang onto it. My father's friend told me he was going to the owner's house last Saturday to ask him on…

What started out as a simple "replace the oil pan gasket" became a two year project. Not that we worked on the car for two years, just that it took that long. See, to drop the oil pan on this Stude, you really need to either pull the engine or take the whole damn undercarriage apart. Guess which one we did? Since the starter was in the way, I went to remove the starter. But the exhaust is in the way. Since the exhaust was in really bad shape and there was no way to get it apart normally, I used a sawsall. Exhaust out of the way. Back to the starter. The grommet on the starter wire broke apart when removing, causing the need to have someone take apart the star…

haha there are no pics of girls. Look how cute it looks in this RV space. awwwwww! Well I took it for a two hour drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It liked it. But I found out that there's a reason they call it the del Sol...I got a pretty sunburn on my shoulders. It was a pretty cool drive. I stopped at all of the overlooks. At one of them this old guy in a truck was looking at my car and goes "Hey that's a nice ride! What is it?" And that started a huge conversation. Also this old 1920's roadster honked at me. I wish I'd been able to snap a pic of that, because it was so beautiful. I also saw some kind of go-kart thing that I can't explain, but i…

*bites nails* I left work early today, because I had a dentist's appointment for a checkup and cleaning. On the way home, I pass by a Chevy dealer, and they had a blue '15 2500 HD out front, a regular cab LT with Duramax and the 18" rims. I pulled in to look at it, since I had time. About an hour and twenty minutes later... I walked out with a new truck. They said with my good credit score, I would be a fool not to. Pics when I can!

Well, many of you know the vehicles my family owns: 2007 Buick Rendezvous 2006 Chevy Cobalt SS/SC 2005 Pontiac Grand Prix 1990 Chevy Cavalier Coupe Well, we mainly have the Cavalier for insurance and "oh $h!" purposes. However, in order to get it running smoothly in an "oh $h!" instance, we'd have to spend a few hundred on a new door or two, battery, and radiator at the very least. So, seeing that we haven't started it in a few months, and haven't run it in over a year, we're finally getting rid of it. It will be a donation, and a sad one to see go since I've grown up with that car. Also, the Grand Prix will have seen its days with …

We just bought a HHR 2LT last night, to be picked up today. I love the 0%, it helped us get MUCH more car for our $$ without devaluing the car via a rebate. Our new HHR is/has; 1. Daytona Blue exterior 2. Medium Cashmere Cloth Seats (wife hates leather) 3. Roof rails 4. Running Boards 5. 5-speed 6. 17 inch high polished wheels 7. Cargo Mat 8. Sunroof 9. 260 watt Pioneer sound system 10. In-dash CD changer 11. more At 39,000 miles our little Cobalt has served us well in the past year, it was just too small and I wanted something with "luxury" options. It's kinda fun to have gotten the exact car on the front of the selling brochure.

Finally got a new set of stainless pipes and mufflers last week (along side the two old tailpipes in this pic) Test fitting: The correct chrome tips came on Monday. Replaces the "turkey-gun" ones that were on the old busted pipes. This car was hobbled together before I bought it. Four exhaust hangers three completely different styles. Of course I bought all new hangers that match. The Avanti uses the "X" frame from the Studebaker Lark convertible to give the fiberglass car more rigidity. The added bonus is the X frame in the middle that the exhaust has to slide in and out of twice on each side. It makes this exhaust a difficult one

Just realized I never made a post about this, but a few weeks ago my younger brother bought his first car (and beat me by about 2.5 years at that!). He had wanted a Cutlass/Monte Carlo from the late 80's for a while, and was always looking. Never really found much except for a white '86 Cutlass with the 307 V8 at a local little used car place, and they looked at and drove it, but still weren't sure. Wasn't bad at all, but seemed to have a transmission issue and some other small issues. So they kept looking and he also was considering some late 80's and early 90's Caprices they found in his price range. One Sunday were on their way to head up state a distance to look …

"My world is changing" __ Faith Hill __ 'Where Are You Christmas?' If it wasn't completely official yet, it became so 12/12/2012, when I put the license plates on it: WELCOME to the family, 1989 Caprice Classic Brougham! The same day, I put the keys for both of my Caprice Classics on the "'Caprice' w/CC emblem" key rings that a friend sent me. Now, I just need to give my 1989 Caprice Classic its 1st detail.... As I put on the plates, I was excited but still had a twinge of sadness, which probably will never completely go away. This 1989 Caprice Classic just sort of fell into my lap. A friend & I went to look at it, figuring it would be nothi…

Name: Ford F650 (2016) Date Added: 01 August 2016 - 12:41 PM Owner: Real Trucker Short Description: For the last 35 years, Ford has been offering medium duty commercial trucks, and the trucks have evolved through joint ventures with multiple suppliers and other truck makers. However, all of that is changing in 2016. The partnerships and joint ventures are being left behind. Unfortunately, Ford’s line of medium duty trucks has not been updated as often as its other lines have. Since 2003, this line has only received moderate tweaks here and there. For the first time in a decade, the 2016 Ford F650 features an all new layout. Among the many new exciting features the line…
