Cadillac
Cadillac, founded in 1902 in Detroit, quickly gained a reputation for precision and innovation, becoming a leader in American luxury vehicles. Acquired by General Motors in 1909, it set standards with iconic models like the Eldorado and DeVille. Though it faced challenges in the modern era, Cadillac has reinvented itself with bold design and a shift toward electric vehicles, now leading GM’s luxury EV efforts with models like the Lyriq and Celestiq.

GM Kills The SRX Plug-In Hybrid.. For Now... William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 1, 2011 For the past few months, the rumors of a SRX Plug-In Hybrid have been making the rounds. Using technology from the Chevrolet Volt, the SRX Plug-In Hybrid was expected to go on sale within a couple of years. Now, Reuters is reporting the SRX Plug-In Hybrid has been put out to pasture. Sources at GM said by the time the SRX PHEV was ready for production, the Theta platform would be at the end of it's life cycle, adding to the cost of the vehicle. This is the third time GM has canned some sort of PHEV project over the past few years. Reuters sugges…

I uploaded them to YouTube, so enjoy! ----------------------- New Cadillac TV ads hit the air Jamie LaReau | | Automotive News / August 15, 2006 - 6:00 am DETROIT -- General Motors has launched two new 30-second TV commercials for Cadillac. For the first time in four years, Cadillac commercials will not feature Led Zeppelin's music or the voice-over work of actor Gary Sinise. The two commercials are "Crest" and "Heart." Both use different music, and "Crest" has no voice-overs. "Heart" is about the supercharged Northstar engine that GM uses only in the Cadillac STS-V and XLR-V. The engines are built by hand in GM's Wixom, Mich., plant. "People don't exp…

Having read many of the other web sites with the new CTS V Sport reviews things look very good. Even Consumer reports loved it and stated it drove better than the Germans. The CUE is still a point of complaint. I hope Cadillac will address it soon. These reports have been out all week and no one here even mentioned anything?

More at Link:http://www.carscoops.com/2015/04/cadillac-confirms-335hp-four-cylinder.html 1) Normal: Everyday commuting. Provides ideal balance of comfort, performance and maximized EV range and fuel economy. 2) Sport: Aggressive off-the-line feel and a stiffer steering response. 3) Hold: Allows owners to select when car uses its engine, reserving the remaining battery charge for later use, specifically in urban setting where EVs are most efficiently used. Gotta wonder if the 3.6L is now the entry or we are going to see a 2.0L without the PHEV. Is the 2.0L the only application of the engine in this car. It is RWD as stated before pertaining to the 2.0L

After disappointing fans with a less than awe-inspiring release of the CT4-V and CT5-V on Thursday, Cadillac took the cars to Belle Isle, in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday. General Motors President Mark Reuss and GM Vice President Global Product Ken Morris drove prototypes of the next step up in V-Series Performance at the Detroit Grand Prix. The two sedans appear to be uprated, higher performance versions of the cars shown on Thursday, more in line to be direct replacements for the ATS-V and CTS-V they succeed. Much of the disappointment surrounding the two cars comes from the relatively tepid power outputs. The CT4-V comes with a 320 horsepower turbo-charged 4-cyl…

So.....we've been allocated 10 CTS-V sedans since ordering began. The first three I ordered loaded....specifically with the Recaro seat package. Since the first three, the Recaro seat package has been on hold....... So, 7 out of my 10 CTS-V sedans are equipped with standard CTS leather seats, and no alcantara steering wheel/shifter. To be honest....I have no idea of why the Recaro seat package has been on hold.....GM reps are surprisingly "mum" on the matter. I don't give a f*ck for the reason. Supply? Who knows....but for GM not to have planned ahead to provide adequate supply for what is seen as a "must have" on a vehicle of this caliber is just unacceptable.…

By Jason Stein Automotive News / September 26, 2005 http://www.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=54631 DETROIT -- General Motors might not have Snoop Dogg in a commercial. But it will have a Cadillac with factory-installed 22-inch wheels. GM is still a few months away from unveiling its next generation of Cadillac SUVs, but the automaker already is nicknaming its 2007 Escalade the "King of Bling." GM can thank a few trendsetters for the tips. Two years ago, during the early development of its next-generation Escalade SUV, GM brought in more than 30 of the biggest names in sports and entertainment as consultants on the vehicle. A month ago, GM…

The hot thing for luxury automakers aside from crossovers is building electric vehicles to take on the elephant in the room, the Tesla Model. But Cadillac will not be joining this craze, at least not in the near future. Speaking with Automotive News, Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen said the automaker will equip most of their lineup with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. The decision comes down to tightening regulations, especially in China. "For us, the avenue to ensure that we are able to play in China is going to be through plug-in hybrids," said de Nysschen. There's also the benefit that plug-in hybrids are a bit more practical than EVs and the fear of runn…

Linkity GM Delays 2010 Cadillac CTS Coupe Production of the Cadillac CTS Coupe, which debuted as a well-received concept at the 2008 North American International Auto Show, has been postponed until next summer, according to GM spokeswoman Joanne Krell. The CTS coupe was originally one of three vehicles scheduled to debut this summer, in a sort of Cadillac advent. The other two vehicles, which are still scheduled to go into production this year, are the 2010 Cadillac CTS Wagon and 2010 Cadillac SRX crossover. "We made a few changes to the overall portfolio," Krell said. "Obviously we are in a challenging economic tim…

July25 Spies have snapped another round of photos showing the production Cadillac CTS Coupe undergoing testing — this time on public roads. Overall, it looks like GM is keeping the production CTS Coupe as close to the concept’s design as possible. Codenamed GMX226, the stylish couple will be built alongside the CTS sedan at the Lansing Grand River Plant. Production will start in May of 2009. The coupe will feature a backup camera which is not currently found on the sedan, and won’t have traditional door handles, but rather a touch-pad setup instead. …

First the Chinese LaCrosse, now this (the interior is great!): Cadillac showcases new SLS at Auto China 2006 Detroit -The General Motors China Group recently reported another sales record for the first nine months of 2006 (645,680 vehicles). These record sales are driven by Buick (+ 27.8 percent), Chevrolet (+51.0 percent), Cadillac (+27.1 percent) and Wuling (+38.7 percent), China's number one brand of mini-vehicles. At "Auto China 2006", this year's international motor show in Beijing, Shanghai GM is showcasing new models such as the Cadillac SLS and Escalade. If there was one vehicle that was the talk during Monterey Car Week, it would have to be the Cadillac Escala concept. Unlike other concepts that Cadillac has shown during this time, various ideas will appear on future Cadillac models. "There's a lot of stuff that's being captured here. All of that won't necessarily find itself coming out in one car; it will be spread through the portfolio," said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac's president to Automotive News. One of the key items that will be spread around is the Escala's design. Compared to Cadillac's sharp and angular design language, the design on Escala is a complete departure with curves and smooth edges. de Nys…

The formula for beating the BMW 3-series may be real simple. Here goes:- (1) RWD- Alpha platform (~108" wheelbase, ~3300 lbs, 5 seats, 4-doors, styled like the Torana; sized between the 3-series and the IS) (2) Finish the Interior to the same standard as the CTS - not quite Audi, but good enough to combat BMW interiors (3) Keep it 4-cylinders only -- a 300hp / 270 lb-ft version of the 2.0 liter LNF engine. (4) Give it the excellent 6L50 tranny. (5) Keep it around $32,000 to start. That's it. You have just stuffed the 328 and matched the 335 in performance and beat them both in terms of not just price but also fuel economy with an EPA rating estimated to be aro…

Cadillac: Small crossover is coming, but no small car Automotive News / August 21, 2006 - 6:00 am BLS: The next generation of the small sedan (on sale in Europe since April) had been under consideration as an entry-level convertible and coupe in the United States, positioned below the CTS. But it turns out the "baby Cadillac" will have no future here. The vehicle's price would be too close to the larger CTS. The BLS is assembled in Trollhattan, Sweden, on the front-wheel-drive Epsilon platform it shares with the Saab 9-3. A station wagon is expected to be added in Europe in mid-2007. CTS: The CTS will be restyled and re-engineered for the 2008 model year. The hig…

If there is one issue that is top of mind for various folks at Cadillac, it is the lack of crossovers. Their sedan-heavy lineup isn't doing them any favors in a marketplace crazy for crossovers and SUVs. The brand does have some breathing room thanks to increasing sales in China, but they know they need crossovers now. “It’s left us with the obvious difficulty. The core part of our volume lineup is in the market that’s contracting while we are unable, as good as XT5 and Escalade are, we are unable to fully exploit the updraft that’s taking place in the other half of the market,” said Cadillac President Johan de Nysschen to The Detroit News. The bad news is the f…

Cadillac Most Improved Sales in Segment Cadillac is patting itself on the back because they're the top mover in the U.S. luxury market for 2010. Cadillac gained 1.6 points of share in the luxury market; the largest gain seen in any luxury brand. The gain puts Cadillac behind Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Lexus. Total sales in the U.S. for 2010 was 146,925 vehicles; an increase of 35 percent. The gains can be pointed towards new products which include the SRX Crossover, CTS Sport Wagon, and CTS Coupe. "Our positive momentum started with great new vehicles, but it also was carried forward with programs that provide Cadillac owners a higher level of service. Cadillac exp…

A Cadillac spokesperson has confirmed to Car and Driver that the upcoming Cadillac Escalade iQ will eventually also be built in a long-wheelbase form called the Escalade iQL. The Escalade iQ wheelbase already spans 136.2 inches, roughly 15 inches longer than the standard wheelbase Escalade ICE. The overall length of the Escalade iQ clocks in at 224.3 inches, just 2.7 inches shorter than the long wheelbase ICE Escalade ESV and over a foot longer than the standard Escalade. Cadillac need not look far to find the long wheelbase components; the Chevrolet Silverado EV on the same platform rides on a 145.7-inch wheelbase with an overall length of 233.1 inches. Cadi…

Jamie LaReau Automotive News August 25, 2008 - 12:01 am ET Cadillac's wings have been clipped. While General Motors wrestles with financial problems and analyzes higher fuel economy rules, the automaker has put on hold plans to develop a stylish Cadillac competitor to the mid-sized Mercedes-Benz E class, as well as the future of the Escalade SUV. On the plus side, the CTS car will get more versions, a redesigned SRX crossover is on the horizon, and GM's high-mileage Volt technology likely will filter over to Cadillac. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 25, 2012 When Cadillac showed the XTS Platinum Concept at the 2010 North American International Auto Show, it was equipped with a 3.6L DI V6 and a plug-in hybrid system that produced a potent 350 HP. However, the production XTS probably won't have a hybrid version. AutoGuide had the chance to sit down with Cadillac Communications Manager David Caldwell. Caldwell said a hybrid version of the XTS, either to provide more fuel-economy or power is highly unlikely. If Cadillac was to provide more power for the XTS, they would go in a different direction. General Motors has recently been in the habit of releasing vehicles in China before bringing them to the U.S. Buick released the Envista in China back in September of 2022 but waited until just a few weeks ago to announce the Envista for the U.S. Similar patterns have happened with the Cadillac XT4 and Buick Encore GX. We suspect the same thing is happening here with the Cadillac GT4 that debuted Monday in China. What is it? The Cadillac GT4 is essentially a slightly fastback version of the Cadillac XT4. While decidedly less "coupe" shaped than the Buick Envista, the GT4 stretches the vehicle's look and gives it a more low-slung side profile. The interior …

Cadillac was nice enough to invite me to an SRX test drive. Also available were the SRX's prime competitors: Lexus RX350, BMW X5 and Mercedes GLK. Without getting into all the numbers, I'll just share my driving impressions of all four. First off, the SRX is a really nice crossover. Looks good, and it's interior is certainly right up there with the others - actually maybe even the best. I had afew preconcieved notions going in. I was expecting the the SRX's 3.0L to be woefully underpowered. It wasn't as bad as I had expected, but it was a bit underpowered - actually more like under-torqued. The trans delivers beautifully smooth shifts, but sometimes finds itself flat…

The 2019 Cadillac XT4 is in production, on their way to dealerships and out for test drives around North America. Reviews have been very positive and people have a variety of love / hate it for the design. Even here on Cheers and Gears various members have a passion on how plastic is being used on the front and rear of the car. With that it is time to take a closer look at some of the tech on this newest CUV from Cadillac. I found sandyblogs.com and the writers Tech Link. Here they do a pretty good job of pointing out the various tech on new auto's. I wanted to bring this into C&G for discussion and see what you all think. Tech open for debate: XT4 …

It is no secret that General Motors has big ambitions in the electric car space, we talked about back in March. But our chance to see to see the first fruits of this, the Cadillac Lyriq had been delayed due to COVID-19 pandemic. But tonight, Cadillac finally revealed the Lyriq in show car form. "Show Car" is important in this context as Cadillac is finalizing various parts of the Lyriq's design - various reports say the design is 80 to 85 percent production ready. This may explain why Cadillac isn't launching the model until late-2022. The design is quite out there with a large pattern grille, vertical LED headlamps, fastback roofline, and rear lights that wrap around…

The rear deck look like a CTS coupe. It also stated it will be a powered by high out put small displacement engines one with a turbocharged power. They said it will pull no punches and will be aimed directly at the BMW. V series will be included. The magazine has a good interview with Tadge Juechter of the Vette team. I am confident in upgraded interiors coming from GM for Cadillac and I lov all their exterior styling, that leavs Caddy with one big area to catch up with, again, and that is powertrains. Cadillac had more than caught up in 2004 I thought but because thy seem to be half a generation behind the imports have passed them this year. 255 hp from the 3.6 was fine a 2 years ago, now it is very average, same thing with the northstar making 320 hp. 5 speed autos are goo, especially GMs since they are world class but they need to get with the 6 speeds. Here is what I think GM nds for Caddy and we pretty much now they are getting some with the dirct injection updrades on the…

I don't know if the info in this article is just speculated rumor or an actual fact based on a reliable source (I know quite a bit of internet "news" is more of the former than latter). I think the Insignia is a great product, but it belongs at B-P-G. If Cadillac is going to receive an Epsilon based model to slot below the CTS (which I believe it will at some point; I don't believe the corporation will follow through with the Alpha platform), then it should have its own unique "Art & Science" inspired design. Despite rave reviews, the Cadillac CTS has been slipping in sales. Sales in July slipped 29 percent, while August saw another 35 percent drop. This is a the opposite of what is happening in the luxury marketplace as sales are currently up six percent. A possible cause to this is the base price of the CTS has climbed $6,000 from the previous model. “While it may have been a terrific car, it may not have been perceived as having earned its stripes for that kind of pricing against the Germans. Cadillac has just not earned its way to charge the kind of premium that the Germans can get,” said Michelle Krebs, senior analyst with Autotrader.com. Uwe Ellinghaus, Cadillac's chie…

Okay, so I have had my new CTS for a few days (sorry, no new pictures yet) and I can make some general observations about the car: 1. If you are sport inclined, get the FE3 package. Don't be afraid of what some (MotorWeek) say about it being too rough as it isn't. Yes, it is fairly taut, roughly equivalent to the V-Series and a just a tad bit stiffer than the first year 03 CTS's sport suspension (though quite a bit stiffer than the 04 and later sport suspension, which I felt was overly soft). However, it is almost never harsh or jarring and is, IMHO, a fabulous balance between imparting luxury and still being seriously aggressive. It easily trumps the BMW 5 series sport…

Today I saw the most current version of the DTS driving alongside me on a major boulevard. I was thinking about how this car had "cleaned up nicely" and that there is nothing too overstyled about the Cadillac brand anymore (though I don't like the new heavy "eggcrate" CTS grille). At any rate, since it tends to be hot in inland Northern California, I remembered how Cadillac typically offered a cloth interior on the DeVille series. It was nicely detailed and very comfortable. Because of the heat, I will always own a car with a cloth interior. I was thinking that, on one model, possibly the DTS in Trim Level 1 form, a cloth interior should be offered in a couple of gen…

The coming Cadillac CTS Coupe has been photographed almost naked, and as with the new Camaro, it is remarkably true to the concept. While this version in white is said to be a vanilla V6 sample, the CTS Coupe should be hot enough to effectively replace the outgoing XLR as the Caddy with the mostest when it's given some wheels large enough to match the body's presence. As for the timeline, the Coupe remains on schedule to arrive next year, preceded by the CTS Sportwagon, which will arrive this June. Hat tip to Matthew! Autoblog Autoweek's Spyshot Gallery

The Cadillac CTS: The Future of Rock 'n' Roll in Cars By Bill Howard | Link to Original Article @ Technoride I've seen the future of rock 'n' roll in cars—and its name is the 2008 Cadillac CTS. Ditto for the future of classical music, hip-hop, and country. Unless Cadillac screws up royally between now and the car's launch in August, the CTS will have the most versatile audio system ever developed for a motor vehicle. I could tell at today's press briefing, just from sitting in the car—parked in an outdoor courtyard at a fancy New York City restaurant—and tinkering with the center stack. The CTS is Cadillac's small luxury/sport sedan, sent out to do battle with the BM…

William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com January 20, 2012 Cadillac is hoping the third time is the charm with their entrance into the European market. The company told Autocar this week, they will build a RHD CTS-V for the United Kingdom as a start to a renewed commitment to taking markets outside U.S. more seriously. Currently the CTS-V is only offered in LHD, which means UK customers are locked out. “We’re geared up for right-hand drive now. We’re working on it.” GM Marketing Chief Joel Ewanick said to Autocar. Alongside the CTS-V’s conversion, Cadillac includes the ATS, its 3-Series warrior, as part of their commitment. Ewanick has faith in GM’s European…

So how did the CTS fair in its first month on the market? Spectacular. Certainly, some of the sales were of the '07 model, but a good number of them had to be from the '08. Let's compare it to the competition: CTS 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 6416 BMW 3er sedan Sept 2007 sales: 7251 Infiniti G35 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3841 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sept 2007 sales: 6052 Acura TL Sept 2007 Sept 2007 sales: 4324 Lexus IS250/350 Sept 2007 sales: 3757 Audi A4/S4/RS4 sedan Sept 2007 sales: 3437 As you can see, the CTS outsold everything but the vaunted BMW 3er sedan, and only missed beating it by 835 units. I'd say there's no doubt the new CTS is a grand slam!

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 2, 2012 General Motors has been quiet on the new Cadillac ELR since announcing it would go into production for the 2014 model year. However, Car & Driver has uncovered some information that shines some light of what we could expect of Cadillac’s new extended-range EV. It’s been bandied about that ELR would share the same Voltec powertrain used in the Chevrolet Volt, but rumor has it that the ELR will swap the current 1.4L engine and use a naturally aspirated variant of Opel’s newly-developed Ecotec MGE engine. The Ecotec MGE engine is the base for a future family of low-emissions, direct-injection four-cylinder …

2015 will mark the launch of two Cadillac V-Series models; the ATS-V and CTS-V. But there will more V-Series models in the cars according Cadillac's chief engineer. “The ‘V’ will be on more models than today,” said Dave Leone, chief engineer for GM's luxury brand to The Detroit Bureau. Which cars will get the V treatment is unknown at the moment, but Leone says they will not go crazy with it. “Don’t expect to see an Escalade-V, or an SRX-V. We will focus on platforms which lend themselves to performance driving,” said Leone. Speculation at the moment has CT6 being the next model to get the V treatment. Cadillac's Blackwing V8 was the brand's first in-house V8 engine since the Northstar back in the 90's. The engine boasted twin turbos, dual overhead camshafts, and output of 550 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque for the CT6-V. But with the CT6 set to end U.S. production this month, the future of Blackwing is up in the air. "[We have] no specific plans for that engine, but never is a long time," said Cadillac president Steve Carlisle to Road & Track at the launch of the 2021 Escalade last week. Previous reports had the Blackwing possibly going into the either the 2021 Escalade or the high-potent version of the CT5. It's likely the Escalade is a no-go, while R&T…

CTS equals Cadillac Technical Superiority June 1 | Link to Original Article @ CNet Cadillac gave us a little hint of the cabin gadgets available in its 2008 Cadillac CTS. And from what we've heard, we can't wait to see it in action. We saw the new CTS at the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, but Cadillac didn't have the full story on its tech features there. The Cadillac designers focused on making the navigation and entertainment interface usable and seamless. The maps will have a 3D aspect and will show traffic and weather. The stereo gets a hard drive for music storage, and the radio includes a pause feature. We don't have all the details yet, but Cadillac must have a bufferi…

GM has release video and lap times of 7:59 at the ring in their 550 HP beast. To put it into perspective the M3 ran a 8:05 and M5 ran an 8:13 if my report was correct. The Caddy was stock less the roll bar racing seat and required GM safety equipment. It is said to be the lap record for a stock sedan at the Ring. John H and his performance group has done it again. I suspect the ZR-1 will live up the the 7:20 estimates and the new Camaro should be sub 8 Min laps with the sSUpercharged engine and just over 8 Min in the SS Camaro witht he standard 400+ HP engine. We just got the Cobalt SS at 8.22 and HHR SS at 8.44 so GM just keeps em comin.

By MARTON PETTENDY 22 January 2009 GM HOLDEN today postponed the Australian reintroduction of General Motors’ flagship Cadillac brand for the second time – this time indefinitely. Company chairman and managing director Mark Reuss made the announcement this afternoon, citing an inability to do justice to the troubled US car-maker’s flagship luxury marque in the current economic climate. “It’s a tough announcement for me and the Holden team here today, but we’ve made the decision and direction in the last week or so that we’re going to indefinitely delay the Cadillac introduction to Australia,” he said. “We only really had one chance to launch the brand here in Aust…

sorry guys.... just realized this was already mentioned in another cadillac forum. http://www.leftlanenews.com/trademarks-rev...ing-scheme.html Trademarks reveal possible new Cadillac naming scheme December13 If you liked alphabet soup as a kid, make an appointment at your Cadillac dealer for three to five years from now. That's because GM has recently trademarked several new nameplates for Cadillac, and so far we're worried and a bit confused. At present, these names are trademarked in Europe and Canada. However, companies often register their trademarks in foreign markets first, and later in the United States. This potential new naming system is undoubtedly…

Looking at this comparison report with the BMW 325e and the Mercedes 190E, the little Caddy comes out not too bad. Even 30 years ago the German car buyer would never have considered a Caddy, regardless of how good it was. Originally conceived as a BMW 320i & Audi 4000 import fighter, on basic specs Cadillac seemed to be in the ballpark, or were they? Cadillac's sedan lineup in the future is going to look much smaller. Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen told Reuters in an interview that the ATS, CTS, and XTS will not be directly replaced when their lifecycles end in 2019. A new model called the CT5 will take their place and cost between $35,000 and $45,000. "We have to rebalance our sedan portfolio," de Nysschen. The CT6 will take care of the top end, while a new small luxury sedan (possibly named CT4) will handle the low end. de Nysschen reiterated plans of Cadillac building out their crossover lineup with the XT4 launching in 2019. de Nysschen also mentioned that Cadillac could be launching a range o…

Click Here Cadillac's evolutionary throwback The 2007 Cadillac DTS is 17 feet long. Yet somehow it is so easy to overlook. When was the last time you noticed one? The full-size 2007 DTS is also the Cadillac that's habitually marginalized by the automotive press as a holdover, old-school Caddy driven only by very old men who smell strongly of medicinal salves or livery-service drivers who smell strongly of Drakkar Noir. Certainly there is some truth to these stereotypes. Assuming it wasn't a taxi, the last car that picked you up at the airport probably was either a Lincoln Town Car or a Cadillac DTS. It was black. And it smelled. And the only privately owned DTS that …

I know if tail fins come back it will be under much more stringent regulation & pedestian safety bull$h! but it would be so sweet to have a 2011 Cadillac with vertical tail fins and lower "Skegs". Again, just thinking out loud.

IL Exclusive: Cadillac Eyes Super Vs and Tuner Vs à la Saleen, Brabus Date posted: 03-23-2006 WASHINGTON, D.C. — Cadillac is stepping up its performance game, with plans for ultratuner versions of the CTS-V, STS-V and XLR-V, as well as the possibility of a new "Super V" lineup. Cadillac product director John Howell told Inside Line the company is already feeling out the market for such products. No timetable has been set for when the beefed-up models would go into production, but Howell confirmed what has been widely rumored for some time — that Cadillac does not want to be left in the dust by such competitors as Mercedes-Benz or even its domestic rival Ford. "We are…

Jamie LaReau Automotive News June 23, 2008 - 12:01 am ET DETROIT — General Motors will unveil a Cadillac CTS wagon this fall in an effort to compete with BMW's 3 series and Mercedes C-class wagons. Cadillac intends to start production in 2009 for global sale. GM has shown a CTS coupe concept to be produced next year. Cadillac also plans to replace its current SRX crossover with a production version of the Provoq concept crossover as a 2010 model. The current SRX has suffered disappointing sales. Sources familiar with GM's plans say the re-engineered and restyled SRX will look similar to the Provoq, a hydrogen fuel cell concept. When the Provoq was shown in J…

When a Cadillac CTS-V and the brand-new Jaguar XFR arrived at our offices, it was obvious a proper road trip was in order. But not just any old road trip would do. We needed to take these two pinnacles of sports-sedan-dom on an epic adventure, somewhere they could stretch their really long legs. After all, the CTS-V and XFR pack some serious heat, armed with 500-plus-bhp supercharged V-8s, suitably stiffened and electronically adjustable suspension systems, big brakes, limited…

Disclaimers: 1. This is only a review of the drivetrain. You all already have your opinions on the interior, etc. 2. I stepped out of my '04 CTS 3.6 auto into the CTS 2.8 manual. This was a direct comparison. 3. I drive my husband's manual transmission Passat regularly, so I'm not a manual newbie. The 2.8 seemed very rough. Noisy in fact. I felt I was in a substantially lesser car then my current CTS. At 80mph it was turning a very loud 3,000 rpm in 6th. Not impressive compaired to my car, and certainly not better then a S/C Riviera that can silently woosh along at 80mph doing about 2200 rpm. The gear shift throws are perfect. I was easily able to hit the ge…

Forbes Car review Cadillac SRX Vs. Volkswagen Touareg 10-04-2005 By Dan Lienert The Cadillac SRX sport utility vehicle exemplifies many issues facing Detroit. It is a typical Detroit car in that it is an SUV with declining sales, but it is also a rare American auto: a luxury car that can outsell European competition--excellent competition, at that--by some margin. In the first eight months of 2005, Volkswagen's Touareg SUV matched only 71% of the SRX's American sales. Considering that the SRX might be the best Cadillac, and that the Touareg might be the best Volkswagen, the Caddy's superior sales performance is evidence against the myth that Detroit ca…

Cadillac owners will receive an over-the-air update once the system upgrade is completed.
