I saw both today and I gotta admit, what a transformation! Its not sexy, but the sport interior in black, with chrome bits, the new front end, the ground effects and spoilers and especially the exhaust tips REALLY LOOK NICE. too bad the wheels look horribly cheap. Why wasn't this car here two years ago? Or for me, 4 months ago? I might actually take one of these over a Fusion. Alas, still only pushrods under the hood and only a 4 speed auto. YEESH. With the 3.6vvt or the upcoming 260hp turbo ecotec this car would be so sahwet for me. Especially with a 5 or 6 speed manual or manumatic. AND BETTER WHEELS. One was blue and one was black i think and both had …

Decide for yourself... it would appear that MT likes the Malibu at least as well as the Accord: http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/car/11...let_malibu.html http://www.motortrend.com/oftheyear/car/11...nda_accord.html We won't know until there is actually a comparo, though. I expect all of the rags to have their own comparison of all the midsizers soon enough.

Does anyone have Malibu production numbers? I know Autonews has them, but I'm no longer a subscriber. I'd like to know because my dealer can't seem to keep more than 2 in stock at a time. They delivered 3 today and have another one on Friday, and therefore only have two left on the lot. I've never seen more than 3 on the lot at once, and every time I see that they get an LTZ in, I go the next day to see it and it's sold... I say: 1) Convert Fairfax only to Malibu for a while. My Saturn dealer has 20 Auras. That should last them at least a few months. 2) Convert Orion to 70% Malibu production. The G6 doesn't sell very well anyways, and it does so with huge incentive…

From GM Media: DETROIT – It’s been approximately six months since Chevrolet’s redesigned Malibu was launched. In that time, it has received critical acclaim – including being named 2008 North American Car of the Year – and numerous recommendations by consumer groups. More importantly, the new Malibu is resonating with customers. In only the first quarter of 2008, market share is up 1.3 points over the same period in ’07. Much of that growth is due to retail sales, which increased 110 percent during the first three months of the year, with three large, import-heavy states showing dramatic growth: * Florida sales are up 91 percent * New York sales are up 13…

The Ad Campaign You Can't Ignore: Chevy Malibu Sharon Terlep | Link to Original Article @ The Detroit News WARREN -- So much is riding on the new Chevrolet Malibu that General Motors Corp. will back it up with an ad blitz as big as last year's $300 million launch of the top-selling Silverado pickup. The pickup launch went down as one of GM's biggest ad campaigns in history, and now the automaker is vowing similar treatment for its redesigned midsize sedan -- a segment long neglected by Detroit's Big Three. The stakes couldn't be higher for GM and the Malibu, which hits showrooms Nov. 1. The sedan is the automaker's most critical launch in years at a time when more f…

According to this article by Reuters, if you want a malibu by Christmas, you better go to the dealer and order one today. The General cant make em fast enough and the dealer can't get em' on the lots fast enough as they are being snapped up with reckless abandon. Article goes on to say Enclave is selling like hotcakes as well!

Man Deathly Afraid of El Camino Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is no joke. The hits just keep on coming for fans of the Chevy Camaro. Just yesterday, we quoted Bob Lutz as suggesting that the Camaro could get a four-cylinder engine option. Now we hear that Mark LaNeve, VP of sales and marketing for GM North America, says that, "We won't position it as a muscle car," speaking again of the 2010 Camaro. Sure, you could spend hours debating the terms "muscle car" and "pony car", but we're pretty sure that very few ever thought of the Camaro as a fuel-efficient option. But, that's exactly how GM will position it. "The mainstream positioning will be fuel economy, design and a V-6," says LaNeve. The truth seems to be that GM just cannot afford to sel…

MARK PHELAN: New Chevy HHR hits home run August 25, 2005 BY MARK PHELAN FREE PRESS COLUMNIST http://www.freep.com/money/autoreviews/phe...825.htm#graphic The 2006 Chevrolet HHR is what the future used to look like, an artist's rendering that blends memory and imagination. From its optional chrome roof rack to the sculpted metal housings for its round afterburner taillights, the HHR reminds me of 1940s and '50s drawings of spaceships and cars of the future. Some skeptics have already dismissed the throwback look of the HHR as Chevy's belated answer to Chrysler's retro-styled PT Cruiser, but the compact wagon is more than that. Both ca…

I got my hands on the May Hot Rod from my advertising department at work and noted they covered some of what we already know on the Blue Devil and 650 HP. Well they had a short piece on the Camaro engine line up. Here is what was stated word for word. Hot Rod May 2007 page 39 "However GM insiders have blabbed to Hot Rod the range of potential engines for GMs new Ponycar. There will be two V6 choices and at least three V8s, Including a 550 HP version of the supercharged 6.2L V-8 for the High content Z28 model. Scorces indicate there will be two base V8s, one stick and one Automatic, both of them over 400 HP." This fits along with much of what we have been hearing. I th…

as i was reading an article on how the GTO is back on the zeta platform in 2008. i cam across this.... "when pushed on wether GM was thinking about bringing back the El Camino off the zeta platform, lutz beemed with enthuisasm. "the kids in the company-my self included-would love to do another El Camino, but the grown ups amongst us dont shre that way of thinking". It woul be fairly simple. We would only have to put a chverolet face on the Holden Ute. (a car like pickup). The building blocks are there". I think GM need to listen to those "kids".

Link to AutoBlog The 2009 Corvette ZR1 has arrived, but speculation surrounding the next-generation C7 model and a possible mid-engine variant continue to persist. Bill Visnic from AutoObserver claims that the idea of a mid-engine Vette, either as a variant of the C7 or a replacement of the current front-engine model, is still being discussed by top engineers involved with developing the next iteration of Chevy's iconic sports car. The main argument against the idea of a mid-engine Vette remains the price tag, as costs would drive up the price to above $100,000. While the ZR1 is priming the public for the concept of a $100,000 Corvette, the current base model remains …

Looks like Chevy has finally given up on being the only 2 door car in NA$CAR. I know the market is small, but I still see quite a few Monte's on the road around here. I've lost my love of NA$CAR racing since they started with the Ford Taurus in '98 and was glad that Chevy stayed true to the 2 door "stock" car. Looks like time has run out. If anyone knows the status of the production Monte, I would appreciate it. http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news;_ylt=A...=yhoo&type=lgns

I posted the following photoshop rendering on the old C&G and recieved surprisingly positive feedback in doing so. My idea was simple. Instead of applying a mildly revised '06 Impala front-end and slightly reworked rear to the current Monte Carlo, I suggested that Chevy simply replace the model altogether with a coupe variant of the Impala. The Monte Carlo name would be dropped in favor of 'Impala Coupe' badging. Styling aside, the current MC is little more than an Impala coupe anyway. In essence, the resulting model would not only be a more attractive car from a styling standpoint, but further damage to the Monte Carlo moniker would be limited until a more s…

Perhaps you've seen the 1962 Pontiac Monte Carlo convertible on eBay recently. Thought that was a bit interesting? Try this on for size ... Packard had a Monte Carlo. A friend of mine who owns a 1941 Packard, sent me a page that included the following info... "Your recent items on the 1948 Station Sedan and Professor Ward's 'The Packard Legacy' (issue 87) seem to lament Packard's failure to keep up with Cadillac and others in styling and more modern engineering. Richard Arbib's original Monte Carlo...indicates that Packard did anticipate (or at least react to) the GM hardtops introduced to the public in January 1949. If Packard was not thinking along these lines, at…

Here are some pictures I took of the Inferno Orange 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS at the Montreal International Autoshow in Quebec, Canada on Tuesday January 20th. This was my first time sitting in the production Camaro. Initial impressions are very good. The interior plastics are hard, but everything had a solid feel, and was put together well. The interior is all business (minimalist) and feels snug, with the low cut windows. Seats are excellent, and room is decent. It looks killer...just like the concept car. There was always a crowd around it, and the short seat time I got, I didn't really use for picture taking of the inside (will do in Toronto). VIDEO:

My post was taken away with the demise of the Outlook thread. Anyway, I am hearing that GM is seriously considering the possible closer of Moraine, OH. More Details On The Camaro ZL1 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com October 25, 2011 GM has been very open on releasing details for the Camaro ZL1. But certain nitty-gritty details weren't coming out about the car, until now. A Chevrolet Dealer recently spilled the guts on the ZL1 ordering brochure at the Camaro5 fourms and we now know the official numbers and so much more. As was talked about before, the Camaro ZL1 will arrive with a 6.2L V8 producing 580 horsepower, at 6,000 rpms, along with 556 lb-ft of torque at 4,200 rpms. Power goes through either a six-speed manual (standard), or a six-speed automatic with TAPshift steering wheel …

Here is some of what Bob had to say on the new Camaro. This was posted on the z28Camaro.com web site. "All of us are hoping (the Camaro) will be a production-approved program" in the very near future, said GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz, adding that "We're all working on it as if it were an approved program." The "heritage" Camaro, which debuted in January, proved one of the most popular concepts at this year's Detroit auto show, but even as GM planners continue studying ways to craft a profitable business case, development work is moving ahead. "We're not wasting any time, said Lutz. "There is no reason to assume they would turn it down," he said of the GM board. Meanwhile,…

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/19/this-is-your-best-look-yet-at-chevys-c7-corvette/ GM has really gone to lenghts to hide this car with camo even on the dash. The things to take here are the seats are seen. Also the Steering wheel and the C7 is next to a ZL1 to better judge the size. There is a shot of the rear hatch that looks like a more flat rear hatch with no wrap around to the opening part. The large rear center pipes with the 4 outlets are a nice touch. We should see more soon as this is following the same patter of GM photo leaks and bring the cars out to tease.

Don't know if any of you have picked up the latest issue of Motor Trend with the SUV of the year honors in it, but its kinda funny. They do give props to the Suburban, Tahoe, Escalade, and pretty much rave about the Denali. One line struck me as funny though. At the end of the Suburban review they say "But strong value and superiority ratings couldnt quite counteract what we see as a shrinking market significance for these leviathans." Okie dokie. So who gets the SUV of the year then, if a large SUV's market seems to be diminishing so rapidly? None other than the tiny...Mercedes GL450. Hmm. This thing gets worse gas mileage than a Suburban, will have a much smaller footpr…

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes...g_gt/index.html Finish Lines Going into this test, and knowing the basic stats, we had an inkling how it might turn out. (All three cars, by the way, eke out impressive and nearly identical fuel-economy results -- though the Mustang's lack of a six-speed means it finishes last on EPA.) Never did we guess, though, how close the overall finish would turn out to be. In third place, the Dodge Challenger R/T. Third of three, but hardly last. As MacKenzie well sums up: "Hugely endearing personality. Even though the Challenger starts to fall apart dynamically above 7/10ths you can't help but like the big guy. It's sorta like …

Some lines from the new Motor Trend review: "Running almost on empy, General Motors digs deep with its new full size truck platform and strikes it big." It's nothing short of stunning, especially when compared with the previous generation's. Cabin materials are significantly improved, with softer surfaces and tighter gaps and tolerances on all panels, the center stack, and gauges. The truck beat out three other General Motors Corp. contenders: the Chevrolet Avalanche, Cadillac Escalade EXT and GMC Sierra. The Ford Explorer Sport Trac was also eligible for the title. The vehicle of the year designation is important to automakers, who often use Motor Trend's endorsement in their advertising. The redesigned Toyota Camry, the hottest-selling car in…

For the second month in a row Motor Trend claims the 2014 Chevy Impala with be the first large or full size car equipped with a normally aspirated four cylinder engine. This is wrong on a number of levels. First, they are forgetting that the Buick Lacrosse on the same platform even, offered the 2.4 for 2010-2011. And yes, that is non-turbo, non-hybrid. Few takers, and it was discontinued when the Regal came around. If you want to go way back in the time machine, Chevy offered the old Iron Duke 4 banger in the Lumina, a similar sized, 6 passenger and yet not full size car about 20 years ago. If that doesn't count for you, the current Honda Accord qualifies as a large car …

Here is the question. Is the Cobalt up to standing door handle to door handle, wheel to wheel with the Mazda 3 and the Civic? We keep talking about price and buy American, but this really is using cost and fear to possibly cover up the fact that the Cobalt is not all it should be. I love the Cobalt and think GM did a great job with updating over the Cavalier. However, I also think that we need an even better small car for GM to compete in this time of $3.29 gas and student loans that take twenty years to pay off. So here goes...this is to be a serious discussion. 1. Where does the Cobalt have it over its competition? and 2. Where should GM best use its crea…

Overall, they liked it, but the tone of the review was way too negative. They really had very little to complain about and even liked the 4-speed, but of course they make the review less pleasing to read by adding in a bunch of needless crap (and sometimes false, needless crap). Here's how the review starts for example: "First, the bad news: GM is releasing its newest pickup truck, the Silverado, into one of the most hotly contested segments around -- at a time when full-size-vehicle-bashing is fast becoming a new sport. Additionally, Toyota (whose market share continues to grow) is on the verge of releasing its first crack at this lucrative full-size pickup-truck mar…

Interesting tidbits coming out. MT reports that the Volt DOES connect the ICE to the wheels in certain modes: "The surprising news is that, after you deplete the 16-kW-hr battery and the engine switches on, a clutch connects the engine and generator to the planetary transmission so the engine can help turn the wheels directly above 70 mph. This improves performance and boosts high-speed efficiency by 10-15 percent." I think it was wise for them to do this, but it does seem that GM's implementation is a lot more similar to Toyota's HSD than we were originally made to believe. MT also reports that the car will only do full power for a period of time to protect the b…

Valentine's Day is for lovers. Some might say my "love" is the Monte Carlo. Well, if that's true, then I received the perfect package in the mail today ... a whole bunch of old NMCOA (National Monte Carlo Owners Association) magazines, from another fellow MC enthusiast. Flipping through the old issues opened my eyes to how much the NMCOA has changed over the years. In some of the older issues, the pictures of the convention included pictures of the people winning the awards ... not just the MCs. Older issues also had a bunch of pictures, technical articles, MC information, etc. The December 1987 issue included a picture of a blue '84 MCSS that was owned by someone i…

I was doing some research/surfing, and stumbled on something I wrote way back in 2002. This was at a critical time, as the 4th gen Camaro was ending its run. Debate ran rampant about a replacement. This all sorta came to me and I wrote it out... http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7211 06-30-2002, 02:28 AM I just got back from the future. After parking my DMC Delorean in the drive, I flipped through the stash of e-magazines I brought back with me. Heres something that will cheer you guys up: Motor Trend, March 2006: CAMARO IS BACK! by Kevin Smith Detroit---After the last Camaro was sold in 2002, many enthusiasts swore they would abandon …

Well I got a deal from GM that if I test drove a new Chevy I would get a $50 Gift Cars to Best Buys, Amazon, etc. Well I visited the dealer and the salesman said he would take care of my card and I did not have to even test drive. I told him I really wanted to drive a Colorado. So without even asking who I was or taking any information I was provided with a set of keys to a $36,758 Crew Cab short bed Colorado. Well I drove off and took it on a good test drive. Here are some of my impressions. It is very quiet unless you kick the V6 down. The 3.6 has that growl and in a truck it should be more of an asset than liability. The ride was smooth and solid. Little flex…

n2a Motors have made quite a name for themselves over the past few years, designing and building unique coachbuilt cars like the 789 and more recently the Anteros. They were kind enough to send us some renderings and clay model photos of their next upcoming project dubbed the "Stinger", which takes styling cues from the '63-'67 Corvettes. Like the aforementioned 789 and Anteros, the Stinger will be based on the C6 Corvette and utilizes its chassis and powertrain. That's where the similarities end, though, as the car receives all new carbon composite body panels, custom interior, wheels and exhaust system. The standard Corvette with its 430-hp V8 is used for the base model…

Link to Article AP Nation's biggest Chevy dealer closes dealerships Wednesday September 24, 6:00 pm ET By Kate Brumback, Associated Press Writer Nation's biggest Chevrolet dealer closes down all dealerships, cites unfavorable economy COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) -- Bill Heard Enterprises Inc., the biggest Chevrolet dealer in the country, said Wednesday it is closing its 13 remaining dealerships, unable to survive in a weak economy with high gas prices and an inventory heavy on trucks and SUVs. The Columbus-based company said in a statement it tried to avoid the closures, which will affect about 2,700 employees. "However, the conditions necessary to sustain the busin…

Guys, just registered, need help quick! The horn is stuck on my Chevrolet Lumina Sedan. 1998 base model. Last night, the steering wheel got hit hard. Now, any time I turn to the right, the horn starts blaring until I move the wheel. What can I do? I tried to find the fuse to no avail. If I can cut the line or something so I never have a horn again, that's perfectly fine with me.

This prediction for the Ecotec 2.5T is based on the new 2.5 liter engine announced for the Malibu. This represents a viable direction GM may take with regards to providing V6 equivalent power from a 4-cylinder. The focus is on attaining a power level similar to the high output versions of the 2.0T (LNF), while rendering maximum torque at the lowest possible rpm, maximizing fuel economy and retaining 87 octane compatibility. The solution combines increased compression and displacement with lower boost levels. The new 2.5 liter block is especially suited for this recipe because it has a 88mm bore along with a 96mm bore spacing. The resulting 8mm wall thickness is not partic…

I keep seeing the new Jetta around. As much as I would not own one, it is much improved. That being said, I cannot help but notice too much Jetta in the new Malibu: overall side profile, greenhouse and door shapes, and trunk height and contours. It really jumps out at me. I think the Malibu will be a hit and I hope so. However, GM needs to stop siphoning some overall design themes (Malibu from Jetta and Enclave from Lexus). That's my humble opinion, anyway. Obviously, I voted yes.

I would ask this in the Camaro thread but I had visions of being crucified upside down, naked on my front lawn with a yellow Caddy or a 59 Buick quietly driving away behind me. I really don't care if it has a B-pillar. The 69 Mach 1, (MY opinion best looking Muscle car along with 70 Boss 302) did not have roll down rear windows and as such kind of had a permanant B-pillar. Also, my 66 Mustang was a fastback which when you think about it kind of makes it a HUGE B pillar (or Huge C-pillar if you prefer.) I do care about... When is this car coming out? Do we know? What V-6 will it have? Will the V-6 be available with a 5 speed? What H.P. are we talking about w…

Here are the paint layouts for Greg Anderson and Jason Line in NHRA Pro Stock. We should see these cars soon replace the point leading G6 they are using now. Andrson and Line release the new Summit colors at Super Summit South In Georgia last Saturday. The guys are First and Second in points in the NHRA Pro Stock class but will change soon to these new Camaro Pro Stock cars. The Chevy Teams got a lot of what they wanted with a much longer nose and a greater slope in the C pillar and short deck lid. This gives them similar aero numbers and stability the G6 offers now. These changes are part of the reason these cars are so late. These teams also lost some offical su…

New Chevrolet Captiva: compact SUV debuts at Geneva Chevrolet Europe has issued the following press release: With the all-new Captiva, its first diesel powered compact SUV, Chevrolet takes its European product offensive to a new level. Tailored to European roads and customer requirements, the vehicle will be available with a modern two-litre 150hp common-rail direct-injection diesel. Like the two available gasoline versions (2.4-liter four-cylinder and 3.2-liter V6), the turbodiesel offers dynamic driving performance. :) I was just watching a coverage of the new years events, and the first commercial on the break was a New Chevrolet american revoloution commercial that featured the 2007 Tahoe!! It started w/ a Business man walking to a parking lot, where he got in a red 2006 Corvette Z06. He sped off, doing some twists and turns, to meet a blue Cobalt SS coupe, and handed it's driver a briefcase. The Cobalt then speed off and turned into a parking garage where it met a silver HHR, and once again passed off the Briefcase. Next, then HHR sped out of the parking garage, to drive fastly down a downtown road, (as it's driving it shows the awesome interior of the HHR). The…

There's been lots of talk about GM bringing new Caddys and Buicks to market, but what about Chevy? Don't say Cruze - we knew about that before (and I couldn't care less). Will they bring anything to interest me? I hope so, because it is the only brand they have left that I might be interested in.

Anyone here have a clue to what this is? Is this the long talked about and never seen Chevy 3 valve head? I posted it here as this was on the CamaroZ28.com site and they were all wondering if this may be a glimps of the future Camaro engine. If anything it is GM and a very interesting layout. Some over there were claiming red lines od 6,600 to 7,000. Also it was claimed to have the same low end torque as a LS but it continued where the other stopped. If true this would be a big jump over the Ford 3 valve. All of this is speculation from the Camaro web site and has not been confirmed. So just enjoy till we hear more!
