The Cadillac ATS and CTS didn't sell well. They had great handling and a large selection of engines, but they were hampered by interiors that were cramped for the class and infotainment systems that could confound people. Sedans are dying, Cadillac gets that too. That's why they are consolidating the ATS and CTS onto a single car called the CT5, released last week at the New York International Auto Show. Ford unveiled the 2020 Escape ahead of the New York International Auto Show and yesterday I finally got my chance to check it out. The Escape’s overall shape has lost some of its edge. It is now more rounded and car-like born out by the fact that it is longer, lower, and wider than the current model. From certain angles in the front, it almost looks to be a Tesla, an association I’m sure Ford won’t mind me making. In back, it has lost almost all of its character. So just to review, GM has annouced there will be 6 new production cars and 1 never before seen concept. Here is what's confirmed. Production cars 1: H2 MCE 2: H3 Alpha 3: Lacrosse Super 4: Lucerne Super 5: STS MCE 6: ... Concept 7: ...probably the Hummer H4 concept Update: Or no, probably not a Hummer. Seems it will be a Chevy now. As for #6, the most likely car seems to be the regular LaCrosse MCE or the Saab 9-3 MCE. One of the most anticipated releases of the New York International Auto Show was the 2020 Lincoln Corsair. The Corsair is the replacement for the Lincoln MKC, and with that, Lincoln has only two MK vehicles left in production, the MKT which is surprisingly still in production, and the MKZ which may go away once the Ford Fusion dies out. While there are frequent reports that the midsize sedan segment is dying, it still is able to move about 153,000 units just in the month of March. The New York Auto Show is the backdrop for the 2010 Subaru Legacy's unveiling, and we just checked it out on the display stand downstairs here at the Jacob Javits Center. The red car you see in the gallery below is a Legacy 2.5 GT equipped with the six-speed manual gearbox, while the dark gray car above is a PZEV-certified base model. Hyundai has released pictures of the next generation 2020 Hyundai Sonata about a month ahead of the cars formal debut at the New York International Auto Show. This eighth generation Sonata is an all-new design that is much bolder than the rather conservative model currently on sale. The new design theme is called Sensuous Sportiness. The PMC Edition combines the sports prowess of the A-Spec line with the premium technical features of the Advance Package. Toyota took the wraps off the all-new Toyota Highlander at the New York International Auto Show today. This new fourth generation Highlander rides on Toyota's new TNGA-K platform. Powering the Highlander will be a choice of a V6 with 295 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque with both direct and port injection, or a hybrid that is 17% more efficient than the outgoing model. The hybrid is a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder combined with two electric motors for a total system rating of 240 horsepower. Preliminary estimates put the Highlander hybrid at 34 mpg combined fuel efficiency. At first glance, you might be thinking why is Buick teasing the LaCrosse sedan again. But actually, what you are looking at is the 2018 Buick Enclave that will be debuting next month at the New York Auto Show. The image shows the Enclave following the footsteps of the Encore and LaCrosse with a new waterfall grille and slimmer headlights. To say the Buick Enclave was well past its sell-by-date would be an understatement. But to be fair, the Enclave was one of Buick's best-sellers. The 2018 Enclave that debuted tonight in New York has some big shoes to fill. The basic shape of the 2018 Enclave is the same as the outgoing model. What has changed are the front and rear ends.
