...A VW. It's a 1998 Jetta GT. It has a 2.0l 4cyl, automatic, moonroof, alarm, air conditioning, and only 68k miles. It's not perfect, there are some flaws, but it's mechanically sound. I was cautious about buying a VW, but I didn't buy it blind. I looked into its reliability ratings and common issues, got a carfax report and had it checked out by a mechanic before I bought it. It runs very well and is rather peppy for only having 116 hp. Rides nicely, too. It has alot of quicks I'm not used to, though. Finally got some lowering springs installed this spring, ment to get these images up earlier but been waiting for some decent weather. The rear's not as low as I had hoped it would be but it doesn't look as 4x4 as it did before. The ride is certainly better, smoother, tighter I couldn't ask for more. Guess how much I paid....? . . . . . . . . It's a 1995 chevy 'Burb 1500 LT 4x4, on the floor transfer case lever, and MOST importantly, it has BARN doors. I'm 100% with XP on that, just as ALL Camaros and post 1949 Cadillacs should have hardtop greenhouses & NOT B-pillars w/ glued in fixed windows like some garbage-pile Japanese economy cars, real Chevy/GMC Trucks should have barn-doors, not lift-gates like a Honda Civic. My brother is a moron who can't spend money properly. So he bought a $h!ty VW Cabriolet from 1990 with busted mechanicals for a grand. He didn't even change the oil that sat in the car for nearly a decade and the water pump didn't function. So naturally, he nearly died while driving it. Because he's an idiot. I decided to find him something that would run properly, and reliable. The fringe benefit is that his pathetic sack of organs won't end up in anyone else's body. I'm doing the public a favour. So today we finally got the other door on. We also put the horn back on it and painted the rockers. Not professional, but still a big improvement and a cheap and quick way to make it look decent until the real work is done. And here's the old door. Had it inspected after we did the work. Somehow it passed emissions, but more importantly it passed safety without a problem. Good times.

First hand-wash job of the Spring... *Note: I did have the dealership fix the front bumper at the passenger side headlight. However, it looks in that picture to have returned. Whatever, I've already got one or two rock chips in it, and I'm thinking about getting an aftermarket front bumper...

My biological father recently moved back to Houston, and promptly totalled a nice 2005 Corolla. In looking for a replacement vehicle, the criteria for the new car was simple: Must be new, automatic, ABS, no more than $16,500, and must be a 4 door sedan - no hatchbacks. His experience with GM and Chrysler products...in the the 1980s and 1990s..meant that those cars were NOT allowed on the shopping list. Dad's was at first fixated on looking at a 2009 Corolla or Yaris. After much pleading, I managed to get the Aveo, Cobalt, and Focus on the consideration list. But those cars are hard to find with ABS. The only Aveos with ABS had other features which jacked the price…

Well, Tuesday and Wednesday I worked on my car from the time I woke up and took a shower until I went to bed both days, easily putting in over 25 hours of work on the Cobalt between the two days. Tuesday I cleaned and painted the calipers, and put a "Cobalt" vinyl on the front calipers. Wednesday I finished all of my brakes, adding GM Performance drilled and slotted rotors on all four corners along with a set of "new" rims (18" ALT Sonix - black with polished inside lip) and tires (G-Force KDWs - 235/40ZR18). I proceded by removing the GM badges next to the front wheels, along with the Cobalt SS and Supercharged badges on the rear. Then I took the rest of my night (uhh, u…

Just placed the order for the 2008 Pontiac Torrent GXP. Just too many little things that were better than a truck, and better for a college student. These are pictures I took of my Impala back when the weather was actually bearable outside. I have the original 396 in my shed, but the engine in the car now is a 454 out of a 70 Chevelle (I think). It runs pretty good, but the rear main seal is shot and the transmission doesn't shift correctly (might be a faulty solenoid or something, not sure). The heads on the 454 are actually off the old 396. I think if I keep her and do a proper restoration, I'll rebuild the 396 and sell the 454 to someone who wants to build a hot rod or something.

Well the weather's getting nice and that means its project time. For my car the first and foremost project is getting a/c system revamped before summer. I want air conditioning in my car. That of course means the whole dash has to come out to replace the evaporator core. Not a job I'm looking forward to doing. Most likely I'm also going to replace the heater core while I'm there. Preventative maintenance. Not counting the heater core, it looks like this job will run $400-$500 in parts. Evaporator core, expansion valve, dryer, compressor, and probably the low pressure line. As many of you know I have been busy as of late. Landscaping the house, building a new retaining wall, a new mailbox and stuff like that. Monday the Torrent was suppose to get its windows tinted, until she played a special trick on me. NOT starting, and then the key wouldn't remove. I called GM and they sent a tow truck to try to get me jumped. No such luck, and an hour later he was unhooking something under the hood so we could roll it out of the garage down to the wrecker as it wouldn't shift out of park. So, yea...I washed my car today and decided to take some shots of it. I don't actually think I have psoted any shots of my car on here as a matter of fact. I am not a very good photographer. I know some of the shots are more or less the same, but I figured for the most part, those rear/side angles are probably the best sides of my car at the moment. Well, here she is at her first show. Far from done, only a front seat for an interior, which was installed last Friday morning. We bought the car in March and have been working on it since it arrived here in April. New floor pans, spare tire well and a revamp of the fuel system as well as a complete gutting of the interior. We drove her the furthest ever this weekend at the Goodguys show in Des Moines. Well as some of you had noticed I was absent from regular posting sometime. I promise I am making up for it with some amazing Torrent photos from my vacation. Many were taken in the Tetons, others on the Beartooth HWY, and a few in South Dakota in Custer State Park. Another few odd balls were thrown in that I liked. Today was a nice day so I decided I'd wash, clay bar, and wax the GTO with a new ICE product from Turtle Wax. The clay bar works wonders (I've used it before on our old LSS and it did wonders to it's paint), and the Ice worked really well. It's basically a wax, but it's clear and you just apply it, let it sit for 5 minutes, wipe the area and then buff the area, and it looks great. It's much easier than your traditional paste wax and looks just as good; we'll see how it holds up (it claims it lasts for 3-4 months). The sun was making it so damn shiny I had to wear sunglasses because my eyes weren't liking the bright light too much. Oh, if you can guess the license plates …

Washed it, and started to take off the pinstripping. For a while it was going off pretty easy but then the later parts were getting pretty tough to peal off so I'll have to get back out there and take another stab at it. I love the tint on the sides and rear window, still not sure if I want to keep that strip accross the front. Here's some pictures as it is now. Our 03 Century was approaching the 200K mile mark and we were planning on replacing it during the summer of 09. However, with the deals available right now and it needing a coolant flush we decided to go for it and replace the Buick early. I picked up brochures on the LaCrosse, Impala and Malibu. Looking at the Impala next to a Malibu just made the Impala look old and outdated. After driving the Malibu 4cyl/6speed and 6cyl/6speed (both 2LT) we didn't even bother to go look at the LaCrosse. I just bought a new 2006 Hummer H3. I finally got it today! I love it....The only thing I hate is the placement of the GM badge. One of the nicest vehicles I have ever driven! I wanted the chrome wheels, but you can't get them with the off road package in Canada.

My search for a truck is over as of an hour ago. Just brought it home. No title, being sold as a parts car. I may go ahead and call the guy, but I'm thinking the LT1 transplant is more work than I want to do at the time.

Hey guys. I picked up a new car on Saturday. Now, some of you may know me well enough to guess what kind of car I'd buy, but I'm counting on it that most of you would have no clue. I'd never thought I'd see the day when I would own, of all things, a Buick, but here it sits in my driveway. Well boys (and girls) it is spring and it was time for the offical shop-vacing, wheel polishing, car washing, exhaust tip cleaning, undusting SPRING FLING. Saturday morning my Torrent went to my small town GM dealer to get a oil-change for the first time at 1400 miles and had molded-splash guards put on, GM performance parts exhaust tip in chrome (to match my wheels had to do it) and some long awaited factory floor-mats. My 2008 Sierra served me very well, and I wasnt really looking for a new car...but I have once again strayed from the GM family of vehicles. New to my garage is a 2010 Volkswagen GTI... DSG, Xenons, sunroof, bluetooth... It just provides the passion and thrill that I've not felt before.

My 1998 Chevy Cheyenne pickup has 290,000 miles on it. Red. I bought it at 274K. Don't know if the motor is original.

Had to make a hard stop on the highway @ a light this morning, and blew out a brake line. I drove it back home (about 4 miles); I've had more than one experience piloting brake-compromised vehicles home. Seems like a simple enough repair; drop the fuel tank, the line goes from whatever the mid-cab distribution block back to the axle- maybe 7-ft (I didn't measure it).... but as a matter of course, I should just replace them all. Twin lines running forward are looking crusty, too. For the F of it, I called the dealer. It's less than 2 miles from me, and I'm on a first-name basis with the service guy via regular service on the Malibu. He told me he replaced all the lines on…

For those that haven't seen the other thread, it's a 2001 Lincoln LS V8. 79,500 miles, leather, traction control, memory seating, dual front and side airbags, automatic climate control, folding rear seats, etc. The exterior is Titanium Sliver and the interior is a trio of dark gray, light gray, and walnut burl wood accents (although the only "real" walnut is on the steering wheel and shifter). Today I traded the Honda and bought a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500: Regular Cab Short Bed Work Truck trim 4.8 V8 Power windows & locks, cruise, keyless entry Silver Birch exterior That V8 sounds awesome after driving a high-strung V-TECH for the last 8000 miles. My new car. I have been looking awhile for something in excellent shape that was already done. SO I can just drive and enjoy. Intailly I wanted a Trans Am (NOT GTA) with the silver GFX but not too mnay 350s in that combo were made. So I expanded my search to include Formulas. And although it has T-tops--that was not my ideal option but since the rest of the car is so perfect I decided that I can overlook them. Drove it from Chicago to Calgary, Alberta. 89 Formula 350--most of the usual options. Here's our 1973 Monte Carlo. My father inherited it from my grandfather when he passed away. It's been in the family since new. It's chocolate brown with a tan vinyl inside. And it's got a 454 with 84K original miles. The body and paint are still in great shape, but it needs a little work to be roadworthy. Most of that we did this weekend - fabricating new brake lines and changing out the carburetor. All it needs is a set of tires and valid NYS plates and she'll be on the road again. And in case you guys didn't realize that I'm an Italian from New York, check out the clear plastic seat covers:

Not a big deal... but I still can't believe it happened already. I've worn a hole in my floor mat with my foot. Already. 25,000 km. It's about the size and shape of a small Swiss Army knife, and it's right where my right heel rests while I'm driving. The grey carpet is completely worn away, and I can see the white fabric underneath. Is this kind of thing covered under warranty?

My friend recently acquired a 1991 Camaro 1LE from his dad and he is trying to restore it back to factory specs now. The 383 currently in it will be removed and sold off while the original 305 will be dropped back in. However, the 305 needs rebuilding and apparently the 1LE (performance package) motors were tuned differently and sealed differently in Van Nuys. Anyways, the R7U was a special code for 32 Camaro 1LEs that year to be converted slightly to racing spec to compete in the Canadian Player's Challenge Series. It's basically a loaded car, with, as you can see, leather, Bose Sound, sunroof, auto climate control, and the Autobahn package as major options. It set me back $3718, though the Blue Book suggested value for it was around $5000. For the most part, it's mechanically sound, impressive at 112,416 miles, and the general concensus among my friends is that it's a sexy beast. I've had this thing since I was like 3, dont know where it came from, my parents might remember, I haven't asked. But I've decided that I need to restore it. Shouldn't be too hard, the body is straight and most of the parts are there, it just has hellacious surface rust. For parts, all I'll need is a pedal (somehow its been through 3 houses and 2 storage units and only lost 1) the hubcaps, the seat cushion and a a new bell. Well I picked up a set of ROH Drift-R wheels. They're made in Australia and ROH actually manufacturers wheels for Holden, so these fit very well on GTOs. I also got some all-season Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires, which are spectacular and totally transform the handling of the car vs. the stock BFG KDWS. They grip the road very well, and are hard to break lose (I have not broken them lose yet, but I have not gone at WOT yet. Still, the stock BFGs would have broken lose at some instances since I've had the Pirellis on). Anyways, here are the pics:

So my plans for today were pretty much canceled, and since it was actually pretty nice out (50 degrees) I took the opportunity to give the cars a good interior cleaning, and my car a much needed washing. Enjoy! Up first is the GM. The steering wheel and driver's door have been really dirty since the day we bought the car. Finally, I spent the time cleaning the surfaces of the interior. Makes a huge difference I think.

Some of you may know (or remember) that, a couple of months ago, I had a decision to make. That decision has finally been made...for about a week or so. Story refresh: Back in 2001 (when Gram was still alive), I discovered that one of her best friends from high school, Ruby, had a '79 MC. Long story short ... Gram told me to tell Ruby about my collection and that I'd be interested in her '79 if she ever decided to sell it. I did. When the time came for her to sell it about 4 years ago, I didn't have the money ... and her grandson and great grandson "wanted" it, to keep it in the family.... So finally, my girlfriend and I had a chance to take the LeSabre out for a spin and snap some shots for Fly. I drove it there, she drove it back. Gotta say fly, it's one sweet, floaty ride. :AH-HA_wink: It takes a couple tries to first get it started from a cold start, and it did stall once, but once it warmed up it ran fine...although I think it runs a bit rich. The transmission shifts very smooth and she ride and steers well...although I only went up to about 40. This is my 1988 GMC Sierra. It was my paps then he gave it to my Aunt and Uncle because he bought a 1994 Chevy Silverado. My Aunt and Uncle bought a 1997 Chevy Silverado and then gave the 88 to me. I did a lot of different things to it with my dad and the one was chainging the grill from a GMC to a Chevy. It has a 350 in it with Flathead Pistons and a high performance camshaft. Me and my dad just rebuilt the top end of the motor and it runs great!
