For anyone that grew up loving NASCAR for what it was (not what it has become) there was one huge moment in the late eighties when Dale Earnhardt bucked the trend (no one wanted a black car because it attracted too much heat from the sun, but Dale wanted to be the man in black), switched from Wrangler to GM Goodwrench and painted his car black. I had many a shirt/poster/etc with that black MC SS (and had a 1987 MC SS Aero Coupe) and Lumina. That car color combo is legendary. Then in 2001, it all changed. Kevin Harvick took over, changed the car to 29 out of respect that no one could be 3 again (time to "officially" retire that number Mr. France) and the car went to si…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 24, 2012 Sometime this month in Las Vegas, GM executives showed Chevrolet dealers the next-generation Silverado. Dealers who saw the new Silverado say the design is evolutionary. "It's not a major change for an all-new model, but it'll be much bolder looking and have a lot more features," says Tom Durant, owner of Classic Chevrolet in Grape-vine, Texas. The next-gen Silverado will be about three to four inches taller than the current model and have a brawny look. Extended-cab models will get rear-doors. Dealers say this move will help sales of extended-cab models. Crew-cab models will see an increase in rear…

copy and paste: http://www.carspypics.com/images/interiorbig.jpg Take a real good look and you'll see: 1. The seat belt is not attached to the driver seat (possibly on the roof?). 2. Auto tyranny and the gear indicator. (Around the word Car). 3. To the left of the steering wheel there is circle headlamp selector. Like the one you see on many gm cars: Impala, DTS, GMT-900, ect. 4. Steering wheel looks like it’s toned down (compared to the concept), also there are silver accents on it. 5. On right gauge it appears to be a fuel or engine temperature indicator and a speedometer. 6. 75% sure that there is a passenger door grab handle as seen on the Saturn Sky.…

Throwing Gears in a 505-hp Z06-Powered Chevy Camaro By Joe Oldham, Contributor Link to Original Article @ Edmunds This 1999 Chevrolet Z28 Camaro is no ordinary used car. It's a freaking street monster; a snarling, mean mother of a street racer that will chew you up and spit you out if you have the temerity to challenge it at a stoplight. It's powered by a GM Performance Parts (GMPP) LS7 crate motor packing 505 (or more) horsepower, the same engine you'll find under the hood of a Z06 Corvette. In fact, GM Performance Parts built this car because it wants the world to know that the all-aluminum small-block V8 is for sale at any GM dealer's parts counter (or even online)…

What would you order or select? Personally I would be having a hard time deciding on the ease of an automatic or fun of a manual. I have lots of hills in my town and because the SS with the automatic is said to get 0-60 in only 4.7 seconds (same an a manual) it would be even harder for me, plus 1 mpg better on the highway. Also with the tap shift that makes it even harder for me to pick one, but the same 0-60 doesn't add up since the L99 automatic cars have 26 less hp, anyone know what gives? Or is the new 6L80 that "performance style" of tranny? I would personally get a 1SS coupe with either a stick or auto, and maybe the RS package, if I got a 1SS without the RS packa…

Short story. Friend needs a new car. Wife wants Nissan. He wants GM. I recommend a 2009 Malibu. 100 miles and Malibu is dieing. Goes into Limp-home mode on the NJ Parkway. Dealership not too sure what happened or what's wrong. Sorry GM. I can't recommend your vehicles any more. My 2006 G6 was the worst car I ever owned and my 2006 Malibu just had the radiator replaced for a leak at 24,000 miles. That on top of the 4 other times I needed to go to the dealership with the Malibu. The 2009 Malibu is supposed to be the new GM, and chances are my friend got the one lemon in 10,000, but I still feel like an ass for recommending it. Hate to see you go, but have f…

What matters is on the inside, right? Luckily, the Corvette already sports a sexy exterior, but for 2026, Chevrolet updated the interior to address some of the common complaints in the latest iteration of their legendary sports car. The biggest news is that the wall of buttons between the driver and passenger has been moved to a more conventional location under the screen, though not all buttons make the jump. Some functions such as heated/cooled seats are now controlled from the central touch screen. And screens they are aplenty! The updated infotainment screen increases in size to 12.7-inches diagonal, a larger 14-inch diagonal driver information cl…

So my GM rep was in town yesterday, and I noticed on my allotment list that it contained "Captiva" on the Chevrolet list. I questioned him about whether or not it was a mistake, and he told me it wasn't and that it would be in Canada as a 2007 model shortly after the new year. I had been told this a few months ago, but I wasn't too sure about it. He confirmed that it is true and that it would be brought over from Europe.

The Camaro Z/28 will be returning for an encore act and it might be using the next-generation of Chevrolet's small-block V8. Car and Driver reports that GM is working on the next-generation LT engines, codenamed LT6 and LT7. These new V8 engines will lose the pushrods and two-valve combustion chambers that have been a key part of the small-block V8. Instead, the new engines will feature dual overhead camshafts, four-valve combustion chambers, flat crankshaft, titanium connecting rods, and possibly dual injection (port and direct). For the Z/28, a 5.5L LT6 could produce 700 horsepower (that's without any sort of forced induction). Car and Driver speculates there…

2014 Chevrolet SS: A Sleeper Really Wakes up on the Track Written by: Elana Scherr on May 1 2014 4:32 PM Driving the 2014 Chevrolet SS is like meeting some boring middle manager for a lunch date and finding out they take part in those strong man competitions where flabby-looking men and women lift tree trunks over their heads and pull city buses with ropes of their own hair. Its performance far exceeds the mild promises of its exterior. Of course, when I was offered the chance to try out the SS on track at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California, I should have been prepared for its tire-smoking, corner-chomping abilities. HRM staffer Brandan Gillogly…

The Chevrolet Bolt concept will be heading into production in late 2016, with sales beginning in 2017. But there is the question of whether or not the 'Bolt' name will go on the production model or not. The name is confusing as it sounds similar to the Chevrolet Volt. "Some people think it's confusing. "People are having some fun with it. It is generating awareness, which is good. It's so conversational," said Alan Batey, president of GM North America to the Detroit Free Press. Batey did say that there is a debate going on General Motors of whether to keep the Bolt name or go with something else. "We're still in the decision phase. It could go either way," said Batey…

A fresh stack of spy shots of the upcoming 2019 Chevrolet Silverado has arrived and we have gotten our first look at the interior. The picture reveals that the blocky dash design of the current truck is sticking around. The center stack design is similar to what you'll find in the GMC Acadia. It appears this mule is running a new version of Chevrolet's MyLink system with a new status bar along the bottom. We also got some new clues on the 2019 Silverado's exterior. It appears Chevrolet is keeping the blocky profile shape. The front end gets new headlights with LEDs and a revised bumper. We still don't know much about powertrains for the 2019 Silverado excep…

What Chevy Cruze variants would you like to see? The sedan. What a practical bodystyle... but exciting? No way. And with a smaller GM, it seems a no-brainer that they should be doing more with fewer nameplates. So far, all we've seen of the Chevrolet Cruze is a practical sedan. zzzzzz.... What worked in the past could work again: a selection of bodystyles and trim levels in the Cruze lineup is needed to cover the market and help the car generate big buzz. Coupe, hatchback, sedan, convertible and wagon variations were all available on its ancestor, the workhorse Cavalier, and that was when there were J-bodies at every division of GM. It's what we need today... choi…

http://gm-volt.com/2009/12/01/gm-volt-chevy-volt-test-drive-in-extended-range-mode/ There are a few times in life when one’s hard work is rewarded, when one can get to see the fruits of one’s labor and the stuff of one’s dreams come true. Such was the day I drove the near-production Chevrolet Volt in both EV and charge-sustaining mode. After nearly three full years of following each and every development, after discovering and discussing every detail imaginable, I drove for the first time the fully production-intent car that emerged from the back of Jon Lauckner’s and Bob Lutz’ proverbial napkin in 2006. I may not have been the first to drive it nor the first to wri…

2006 Aveo The Chevrolet Aveo is a reconfigured Korean Daewoo model and the interior and exterior were designed by Italdesign of Italy. The engine is a 1.6-litre 4, producing 103 hp, from Opel. GM link: http://www.chevrolet.com/aveo/ Review: http://motortrend.com/roadtests/intellicho...005_chevy_aveo/ Introduction General Motors’s first attempt to compete on a heads-up basis with entry-level Asian econoboxes involved a partnership with Suzuki. The progeny of this corporate marriage was a little runt called the Metro, which was retired five years ago. Now, GM is trying again, only this time, it’s hooked up with a Korean rather than a Japanese manufacturer. …

Thought I'd try a 'journal' for a month on this subject. Too many folk believe trucks 'never' carry anything in the bed or be very 'trucky'. To those unfamiliar, I have a 2004 Silverado 2500 HD CrewCab, DuraMax/Allison/3.73s. Mileage is currently about 106K. • • • Today I towed, then pushed a '70s Dodge camper van around on a piece of private property- repositioning it at the owner's request. Section of chain & a cable/clevis shackles to pull, the ol' 'tire hung by chain over Dodge's bumper' and the ol' 'shopping cart push' to guide it backwards. It was momentarily tempting to get it up to maybe 50 MPH.... DuraMax didn't even feel it.

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 9, 2013 Just a couple days after Chevrolet announced that 2015 Corvette Z06 will debut at the Detroit Auto Show, the fine folks at Automobile Magazine got their hands on some new spy shots of a Z06 mule undergoing some testing. Now the pictures reveal some information that we have known about since Chevrolet showed off a teaser shot such as the enlarged brakes, the unique black multispoke wheels, and air vents on the fenders to keep the brakes cool. One item that is very notable is a raised hood, possibly bulge or scoop. A source tells Automobile that the Z06 could be packing a supercharged version of the Sting…

Chevrolet Spark Makes Its US Appearance In 2012 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 4, 2011 If you're looking for something smaller than Chevrolet Sonic subcompact in the US, General Motors has the answer coming to you soon. Jason Laird, GM's executive director of North American product communications told Green Car Reports today, the Chevrolet Spark minicar will be coming to the US market next year as a 2013 model. I found an article from the February 2004 issue of Motor Trend. The article is a comparison between the then-new Chevy Malibu, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Mitsubishi Galant. Here is the money quote from the Malibu (which placed 3rd of 4, beating only the Camry) : "After years of producing also-rans, Chevrolet has turned out a family sedan that's competitive with the best in its segment. Families especially mindful of the bottom line need look no further." -Motor Trend 56.2 (Feb 2004): p92(11). (3745 words) I think we're hearing much of the same now with the new Malibu coming out. Only time will tell if this new generation escapes the journalistic fate of…

Linkity Camaro Goes Hybrid, As GM Axes Rear-Drive Impala, LaCrosse? General Motors has been forced to rework the investment case for the Chevrolet Camaro in the wake of new fuel-economy rules adopted this past December. The Camaro will still be built, but higher-end V-8 versions likely will be priced higher than expected. As for other planned GM rear-drivers–a new Chevrolet Impala, Buick LaCrosse and the replacement for the Pontiac G8 due this spring–all have been dropped along with a new V-8 engine GM was contemplating building. By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com February 11, 2013 Chevrolet has cut the price of the 2013 Malibu as part of an effort to entice consumers to look at it and not competitors such as the Toyota Camry. The base price of the base Malibu LS saw its price drop $345 to $22,805 (including shipping), which undercuts the base Camry’s price by $235. The Malibu 2LT and Eco trims dropped $300, while up to $770 was cut from the LT. "We did it in order to try to generate more potential traffic on the car both on the websites as well as dealers but I can't tell you that January itself was a big change just because of that. It is no secret that Chevrolet will be debuting a new Corvette ZR1. Numerous spy shots have revealed Chevrolet is going all out with a large rear wing, larger intakes, and distinctly shaped hood. We now have gotten our first look at the new ZR1 thanks to a leak. Corvette Blogger got their hands on a leaked image of Car and Driver's December issue which has the Corvette ZR1 front and center. The model matches up perfectly with spy photos with the various aero bits and large air intakes. The cover also reveals the ZR1 will be packing 750 horsepower, but we don't know what engine will be providing that power (our guess is a supercharged V8). Corvette Blogger also r…

Autoweek is reporting that when Chevy said there was no Blue Devil they were not lying. That is because it has been given the name Sting Ray. Little info was reported that we did not know already such as Carbin Fiber Hood, 600 HP, and a price at $100,000. I am sure ther will be added features over the Z06 and by the time it reaches market it will find a little more than 600 HP. Thwy alway seem to find 5-15 HP at release time. I wonder it this finally kills the Kappa idea that Chey did not need.

Decemeber 21st, 2011 black-knight CheersandGears.com There's reason to believe that the folks over at Chevrolet may have a huge New Year's party soon. The storied marquee turned 100-years old this year and, proving that age will not slow it down, is within reach of surpassing it's all time global sales record. At the end of November, 4.8 million cars worldwide were sold wearing the Bowtie badge and December doesn't show any signs of that pace slowing down. It's very impressive, no doubt, but the gravy train doesn't stop there. All of those sales equaled up to Chevrolet increasing it's global market share by one half of a point and sixty percent of all Chevy models are…

Stop me if you have heard this before: Motor Trend is reporting that next Corvette ZR1 is going to a mid-engine layout according to a number of sources. One of the sources follows this up by saying the next-generation Corvette will also go to a mid-engine layout, Now this isn't the first time there have been reports of a mid-engine Corvette. Since the early sixties, reports of Chevrolet doing a mid-engine Corvette have been reported. This is only helped with General Motors showing a number of mid-engine Corvette concepts over the years. General Motors made a big deal about a new 2.7L turbo-four that would be available on the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 1500. This engine promises more power, better towing, and improved fuel economy when compared to the 4.3L V6 engine. But when the official fuel economy figures came out, the engine became somewhat less impressive. The EPA rates the 2.7L turbo-four at 20 City/23 Highway/21 Combined for the 2WD variant and 19/22/20 for the 4WD variant. That isn't a huge improvement on the V6s found in the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500. F-150 with 3.3L V6: 19/25/22 (2WD), 18/23/20 (4WD) F-150 with 2.7L EcoBoost V6: 20/26/22 (2WD), 19/24/21 (4WD) …

Is there a more perfect family vehicle than the Maxx? You get everything: power, fuel economy, quality fit and finish, and ROOM. I need something that will carry kid surfboards (70 inches) while getting excellent fuel economy year round. I'm deciding between a Toyota Matrix with a stick (i like to shift myself) or the Maxx (no stick, but a serene drive experience instead). I don't have the inside scoop on GM's Epsilon strategy. Maybe they aren't making money on this one division bodystyle? Maybe the product planning people don't know what they're doing? Seems like Chevy has done this before (the Nova hatchback didn't last, the Citation…

We've gotten 16,500 views on a thread with only semi-official pictures in less than three days. We've gotten over 5,400 views on the Official Concept Thread in less than 14 hours And we've gotten signatures, polls, desktops, and (most importantly) restored faith and hope to get a Camaro on the streets. Coming from a relatively small forum, I sure hope you're keeping tabs, GM. :AH-HA_wink:

Sorry it's so small, but you can make out that the front of the car is the chestplates and the engine cover is right in the center: I know it makes me an 80's nerd that I am excited for this... By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com January 8, 2013 Back in late December, we reported that the fate of Chevrolet's current tagline, 'Chevy Runs Deep' would be decided within the first quarter of 2013. Today, Chevrolet has officially announced a new tagline, 'Find New Roads'. The new tagline will become the brand's global advertising message as Chevrolet begins its push to sell vehicles in 140 countries. “It’s more of an internal mantra as well as our external tagline. A lot of work is going on with our dealerships, a lot of work with our employees. This is just a continuation of that work and really bringing everything under one global vision,” said G…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 22, 2013 File this under the 'long stretch' folder, Motor Trend is reporting that the upcoming Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon could be coming with a diesel engine. A source tells Motor Trend that the plant where the all-new Colorado/Canyon midsize truck will be built for the U.S. is currently tooling up a line to build diesel engines. The engine could be one of two diesels offered at the moment: a 2.5L with 150 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, or a 2.8L with 180 horsepower and either 324 pound-feet with a manual and 346 pound-feet with an automatic. I hope Fbodfather will not be upset if I repost his comments on Z28C. I think he said it better in his original statment and I would not paraphrase it as well. Please read and enjoy. If you feel compelled this is a great thread to start and leave ADULT feed back with the understanding that this was not a completed concept car. I am sure Scott will see our coments and appreciate our feedback. Here is where your words can make a differance. Fbodfather: To my fellow enthusiasts. I think I'm pleased, for the most part, as to the comments I'm hearing. Yes, there will always be a few that have harsh words....that's to be expected. I still look forward …

Why Does GM keep pushing the introduction of the 07 Silverado and Sierra Back. We first thought they would be at Chicago, then were led to believe they would be at New York, Now we are to assume they will be at the Texas State Fair in September. SEPTEMBER!!! What is up with that! All of the SUVS are out Why is GM waiting so long to debut the trucks?

Inside Line Link Why We Bought It Chevrolet has never really had anything that could challenge the standouts of the economy-car class, the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. When Chevrolet finally replaced the aging Cavalier with the 2005 Cobalt, our hopes soared. Now Chevy's import fighter had a more powerful engine, sharper styling and a promise of improved build and materials quality. Naturally, we were curious enough to put one into our long-term fleet. We spec'd out a loaded 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT sedan. With leather seats, a moonroof, upgraded audio with XM radio and a rear spoiler, it listed for $20,100. With the employee discount and rebates we got it for $17,82…

After doing a few special edition models for the Silverado, Chevrolet has decided to do some as well for the Colorado. First up is the Colorado Midnight edition. Following in the footsteps of the larger Silverado Midnight edition, the Colorado Midnight boasts a grille, bowtie, and 18-inch wheels draped in black. Other changes for the Midnight include spray-in bedliner, tonneau cover, and unique sill plates. This special edition won't be limited to one cab and engine configuration. You'll be able to get this package on any cab configuration, along with engine and the choice of either two or four-wheel drive. Next is the Trail Boss which is available on the Z71 trim…

So has anyone got any idea of the font featured on the 2010 Camaro on the body or on the Chevy website? It is a Camaro logo with squared off letters. They use it on the Camaro5 forums too. But I am not a memeber there and was wondering if any of you smart people have any knowledge of it? Or could share it with me. (Would like it for photochops.)

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=102544 Offshore, GM soars with Chevy brand; GM Daewoo boosts sales, production JASON STEIN | Automotive News Posted Date: 6/9/05 DETROIT -- Here's what was missed in the news about General Motors' distressed brands and sluggish U.S. sales: While GM sliced third-quarter North American production by 100,000 units, it increased Asian production forecasts by 100,000 units. GM sales in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America have grown this year. And its engine for growth is Chevrolet, the venerable high-volume brand that has enjoyed a rebirth overseas. While GM is trimming its product lineup for slow-growth brands …

If you don't like Edmunds date for the Camaro start reading AutoWeek. They are reporting in the Feb 20th issue that the 2009 Camaro has been moved up to 2008. I get the feeling info on this is so tight the press is reaching for any clue they can right now. Watch the Camaro web site and posts from Fbodfather for any additional clues. What clues he post do come together in time. They give no other details on the Camaro but they do outline the latest Bluedevil hints. Most of the same as we have been hearing 2900 pounds, $100,000 and supercharged. They did say 7.0 SC but they have been the only ones I have seen to make a 7.0 claim. For the folks that don't like the 08 …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 10, 2013 The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes with the choice of two different transmissions; a seven-speed manual and six-speed automatic. But a leaked paper from the Society of Automotive Engineers publication says that an eight-speed automatic will be coming to the Stingray. This paper, which has been pulled, was written by engineers at GM who worked on the project. The eight-speed, named 8L90, will feature shorter first gear ratio to improve acceleration, better fuel economy thanks to a greater spread of gear ratios, and the ability to handle up to 738 pound-feet of torque. A spokesman confirmed to Edmunds…

Whenever the Corvette plant closes it doors for public tours for a certain amount of time, it usually means some big change is coming to the model. The Bowling Green Daily News reports that starting next month, GM will suspend plant tours for 18 months. National Corvette Museum Marketing and Communications Manager, Katie Frassinelli tells the paper the suspension is for a reconfiguration of the assembly line and a new paint shop. “The new paint shop at the plant has to be tied into the existing assembly line. The old paint shop is on the opposite side of the plant,” said Frassinelli. It should be noted this is the longest time that the plant tour has been …

Chevy Volt coasts closer to reality, first bona fide model now in production via Engadget General Motors has just cut the ribbon, metaphorically at least, on the production of the first genuine Chevy Volt integration vehicle. Unlike previous versions, which have been "developments mules" made using parts from the Malibu / Cruze lines, this will look (and hopefully feel) 100 percent like what the company plans to start pimping out this November. The pre-production model will be put through the paces in case the design needs to be refined and tweaked before going full steam ahead. GM is sticking pretty close to its original plan of building at a rate of ten a week by m…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=107094 By D. John Booth Date posted: 01-01-3000 You know, there's just no way it's a coincidence. Dave Hill, Chevrolet's chief engineer for the Corvette, can wax engineering all he wants about optimum bore size, combustion efficiency and maximizing fuel economy, but the real reason the new 2006 Corvette Z06's LS7 engine displaces 7.0 liters is that it translates into exactly 427 cubic inches, a magic number in Corvette lore. And while the new engine may not have the reputed 550 horsepower the legendary L88 had (though it was rated at a measly 430 hp to "fool" insurance companies),…
