  1. Chevy Volt coasts closer to reality, first bona fide model now in production via Engadget General Motors has just cut the ribbon, metaphorically at least, on the production of the first genuine Chevy Volt integration vehicle. Unlike previous versions, which have been "developments mules" made using parts from the Malibu / Cruze lines, this will look (and hopefully feel) 100 percent like what the company plans to start pimping out this November. The pre-production model will be put through the paces in case the design needs to be refined and tweaked before going full steam ahead. GM is sticking pretty close to its original plan of building at a rate of ten a week by m…

  2. When Chevrolet initially took the wraps off the Silverado EV last year, GM had estimated up to a 400 mile range based on its own calculations. As the Silverado EV has made its way through development, it went for EPA certification and came back with 50 miles more than GM's estimate. With this new EPA certification, the Silverado EV has an over 100-mile advantage over its only on-sale competitor the F-150 Lightning Extended Range (320 miles). The Silverado EV will launch first in WT trim with this 450-mile range in the next few weeks. Soon after, a less expensive WT model will launch with a 350-mile range. All Silverado EVs will be available with DC Fast Charging up to …

I will be updating the article as more details come out. Six different trims will be offered including the new High Country trim, an RST trim, and Z71 becomes its own trim line instead of being offered as a separate package. LS, LT, and Premier trims carry on. Engines are the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s, but the 3.0L Duramax will also be joining the lineup. The 5.3 and 6.2 now sport dynamic fuel management. Let's start with the base the Blazer L which begins at $29,995. CarsDirect believes this model "is likely intended mainly for advertising purposes." What worked in the past could work again: a selection of bodystyles and trim levels in the Cruze lineup is needed to cover the market and help the car generate big buzz. 31. Here is the question. Is the Cobalt up to standing door handle to door handle, wheel to wheel with the Mazda 3 and the Civic? We keep talking about price and buy American, but this really is using cost and fear to possibly cover up the fact that the Cobalt is not all it should be. I love the Cobalt and think GM did a great job with updating over the Cavalier. However, I also think that we need an even better small car for GM to compete in this time of $3.29 gas and student loans that take twenty years to pay off. So here goes...this is to be a serious discussion. 1. Where does the Cobalt have it over its competition? and 2. Where should GM best use its crea…

What's the possibility of this happening? Obviously GM sees a market for a wagon here in the US -- they're about to release the CTS Wagon and seemed to be seriously considering the G8 Wagon. Maybe they didn't think a Wagon would bode well with Pontiac's performance image (despite some of their other vehicles not fitting it well)? Could we see an Impala Maxx or Wagon variant? I don't see why not. Then again, there's got to be some reason for why Chrysler is canceling the Magnum... and maybe GM looked into that. That's also possible.

  58. After countless months of speculation, spy photos, and someone leaking out the cover of this month's Car and Driver, Chevrolet has revealed the 2019 Corvette ZR1. This is the maddest Corvette that Chevrolet has ever built. Beginning under the hood, the ZR1 packs an LT5 V8 engine. While carrying the same name as the engine found in the original ZR-1, the new ZR1 skips the dual-overhead cams found in the original LT5. Instead, Corvette engineers took the supercharged 6.2L V8 found in the Z06 and installed a larger Eaton supercharger that pumps in 52 percent more air into the engine. The LT5 also features direct and port fuel injection, upgraded crankshaft, dry sump lubr…

Chevrolet Malibu Spied Chevrolet's current Malibu was a huge success when the company needed it, winning a place on our 2008 10Best list and proving that the bow-tie brand could build more than monster SUVs and pickup trucks. Now that the compact Cruze, even smaller Aveo, and minute Spark are all on their way, the Malibu is up for a little refresh. The current car is sleek enough, but the overall design isn't particularly elaborate. The 2012 model will change that with a bit more rake to the beltline, echoed by a faint crease in the body side. The nose and tail will certainly see the most change, but our spies weren't quick enough with their cameras to catch the fr…

A Sports coupe that is in "Design and Test Stage", So the Camaro might be out of the question. Getting info was really hard since His/Her job might be at risk but, i got permission to say this from them. The Drive train is most likly a RWD to AWD. But FWD may be chossen. Power train will either be a V6 standard most likely the 3.9 i think that will push 250 HP. with optional I5 engine. But a "SS" or "GTP" Package. will have a V8 to push from 375 to 425 hp. If FWD is chossen a 310 horsepower 5.3 will most likey be a the engine. …

We don't want to name names here, so let's just say that the HHR SS has really only one direct competitor, the Dodge Caliber SRT-4. This competitor acts like a drug-addled co-driver who grabs the steering wheel and saws wildly if you dare to use more than a feather's touch of throttle. What the hell are we talking about? Why our old buddy torque steer, of course — that troublesome houseguest of powerful front-drive cars. But the HHR SS badly wants to be your friend. And despite a few rough edges, it's a prett…

Compared to the sedan, the Cruze Hatch is about $5,000 more. It should be noted that the hatchback isn't offered in the base L or LS trims like the sedan. The more apt comparison would the Cruze LT sedan which begins at $20,695. Comparing the prices of the LT models sees a difference of $1,495. The Cruze Hatchback will use the same turbocharged 1.4: four-cylinder engine with 153 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. No word if the hatchback will get a manual transmission or if it will be just an automa…

That’s certainly interesting given that the Impala has earned Chevrolet 79 wins since 2007 after the Monte Carlo went out of production. As Jim Campbell, vice president of Chevrolet Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, said in Chevrolet’s press release yesterday, “The Impala has been a critical part of Chevrolet’s success in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.” That’s only the tip of the iceberg, though. 71. DETROIT — We may not be at "peak oil" quite yet, but anyone that's been to a gas pump in the past few months could build a strong case to the contrary. Fuel prices have already hit $4 in sunny Southern California; here in Michigan, gas can run north of $3.50 a gallon. And those high prices are affecting every segment of the automotive landscape, from SUVs to luxury cars. But when it comes to moving five passengers in comfort, you don't necessarily have to jump into a subcompact to get respectable fuel economy. We decided to find out if Chevrolet's four-cylinder Malibu, combined with the new six-speed automatic, has the eco chops to take on much smaller sedans. Chevy has…

Mileage is currently about 106K. • • • Today I towed, then pushed a '70s Dodge camper van around on a piece of private property- repositioning it at the owner's request. Section of chain & a cable/clevis shackles to pull, the ol' 'tire hung by chain over Dodge's bumper' and the ol' 'shopping cart push' to guide it backwards. It was momentarily tempting to get it up to maybe 50 MPH.... DuraMax didn't even feel it.

The steering was spot on and had good feel. The engine has good low end torque and was much faster than it felt. The exhaust had a great sound from inside but not over bearing to make it distracting inside on a long trip. The Ride was very smooth and not a creak rattle or hollow sound of the old cars to be found. This car may not have ultra high limits but it is a real world car that makes driving fun. It seems to me that the AVEO should be called a GEO NOT a CHEVY! If they were to bring back the sub Chevy brand they could make a STRIPER COBALT the base Chevy model. Then they could do the AVEO line as a GEO and bring over other GM+GM partner Asian/European small cars/SUV's/Crossovers in the restored Chevy sub brand. The new FIAT GRANDE PUNTO would make a GREAT NEW GEO METRO being that it is built on a GM of Europe platform. And with its opt Diesel power it could be VERY EFFICENT. The SUZUKI VERONA could be a NEW GEO PRIZM and there are MANY OTHERS they could choose from for the CHEVY MINI BRAND!
