Buick
Founded in 1903 by David Dunbar Buick, Buick is one of America’s oldest automobile brands and the oldest active division of General Motors (GM). Known for pioneering innovations like the overhead valve engine, Buick became a symbol of affordable luxury throughout the 20th century. It played a key role in GM’s growth and today positions itself between Chevrolet and Cadillac, offering premium vehicles in both the U.S. and China—its largest market.

So the wife is interested in a 2015 Buick LaCrosse. I'm not up on my GM cars as much as I am with the trucks. Are there any plans to update or drastically change the LaCrosse for 2016? I'd hate to get her one this year only to find out an updated model is planned for 2016

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 19, 2013 In 2007, Buick introduced at the Shanghai Motor Show the Rivera Concept. Six years later, Buick unveiled a new Rivera concept the night before the Shanghai Motor Show. Deja Vu? Maybe. Buick says the Rivera concept gives a sneak peek what the brand's design language will look like in the future. The Rivera concept's shape is said to be inspired by "the Dynamic Nature of Water". Buick's trademark waterfall grille is present, along with a set of smooth, sweeping lines. Much like the last Rivera concept, the new concept features a set of gullwing doors. The Rivera concept uses a W-PHEV (wireless plug-in h…

So, went window shopping for new Buicks today. Wife was pretty well set on a LaCrosse but found the Verano an interesting option too (she referred to it as the 'baby LaCrosse'). She hates Sunday 'window shopping' as she wants to get behind the wheel and go for a test drive. She loved the LaCrosse courtesy car last week and is curious as to the ride of the Verano in comparison. I'm going to try to get her to the dealership early this week for a test drive. Can anyone here who has driven a Verano and a LaCrosse provide me with input on these two cars, especially any pros/cons to each one?

It looks a refresh is coming soon to the Buick Verano. A fresh set of spy shots were released this week showing a camoflaged mule undergoing some testing in Germany. Much like the Regal, the Verano is a Opel/Vauxhall vehicle (the Astra sedan in this case) with some Buick clothing. Judging from the photos, it looks like Verano will get some more Astra design cues, most notable in the headlights and taillights. But there will still be a number of Buick design cues like the waterfall grille. The refreshed Verano is expected to arrive next year. I purchased a 2007 Buick Lucerne with 17500 miles a couple of months ago. It is a CXL with the 3.8 engine. The car has developed an annoying hesitation when driving at 40-50 mph. The car hesitates/pings/groans unless you give it a bit more gas to turn off the overdrive. The problem is most noticable when using 87 octane gas but it still present when running 93 octane. I've run Techron through the system thinking perhaps the injectors were dirty but that didn't help. The check engine light is not on. To make matters worse the gas peddle vibrates as the car hesitates. I don't notice the problem when driving around town or when on the highway at 65+ mph. I'…

As some of you may know, the LA Times recently published a piece about Buick and its future. The author made several mistakes, including that Buick was founded by William Durant. The Times ran a correction yesterday. The article was a slam to the future of Buick, and the author did not use a SINGLE Buick owner. He did not write about how Buick outsells Acura, Infiniti, Jaguar, Cadillac, Saturn, Saab, Mercury, etc and beats them in quality surveys. If you are a Buick owner or a fan, and are upset about this article, please write to the LA Times auto editor Barry Stavro: barry.stavrolatimes.com You can also contact the Buick spokesman David Darovitz to encourage…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 11, 2013 Since the Opel Adam went on sale earlier this year, many wished for the Adam to come to the U.S. as a Buick. Those wishes could become reality. "We are looking at it. Nothing is decided. But it's an example of some of the Opel product being used elsewhere in the world," said Opel Chairman Karl-Thomas Neumann. If the green light is given for Buick to get the Adam, don't expect it to come until the first redesign. The current model doesn't meet U.S. safety and other regulatory requirements. "We have to work on the car. That's one of the issues that we have to look at," said Neumann. Editor's Note: Ba…

I sold the Park Avenue Ultra shown in my signature. After 2 years and 40,000 miles it was time to let somebody else enjoy it before pushing it over the 50,000 mile mark. I never intended to keep it forever. One reason is that when it was originally offered to me I was led to believe that it had a shale interior; when I drove from Florida to North Carolina and saw it, the interior was gray. Despite realizing then I had been had by this country-boy dealer, being the good sport that I am I took the car anyway and made the best of the situation. I have been shopping around for another vehicle and can't make up my mind what one to drive. I was offered a lease payment…

Of course nothing this good would happen but I did enjoy some of the chops found on this site, in particular the boat tail Velite they chopped. If they made a vehicle that looked like that for Buick it'd put the Corvette to shame (so obviously they won't do it)... but that would be one beautiful vehicle. Here is the link: http://www.gminsidenews.com/naias/revitalization/ I found out about it via an Edmunds article that is roughly 2 weeks old but I did not notice anything on here about it and thought I'd share. It's cute how the article points out their severe bias in their "What this means to you" section which exclaims: "At least somebody is still excited about Buick.…

First Drive: 2010 Buick Regal Could the Insignia Still Make it to America Badged as a Buick? By Angus MacKenzie How's this for culture shock? I'm driving a German-designed Buick alongside a Korean-designed Chevy through the streets of a Chinese city. Welcome to the future of General Motors. GM plans to double its sales in China over the next five years, to two million units. "China remains the centerpiece of our global growth strategy," GM Asia-Pacific boss Nick Reilly said at the Shanghai show, where the GM stand featured 37 models, including the German-designed Buick and Korean-designed Chevy. The Buick is the 2010 Regal. It's an old American nameplate for…

CNW Marketing Research has released figures showing the average ages of auto buyers in 2007, with evidence that the down US economy has moved car buyers ages up. For me, it was interesting to learn the latest about Buick buyers [ I added the bold ]: "And while Buick is typically the butt of jokes about buyers who are somewhere between retired and deceased, the average age of a Buick shopper last year was 55.2 years old, considerably younger than the average 63.6-year-old Mercedes-Benz shopper." An article by Rick Popely and Jim Mateja in today's Chicago Tribune, "Age-old battle for Buick: Models aimed at younger buyers haven't helped the venerable GM brand reverse a long trend of its buyers being among the oldest in the auto industry -- at 65, nearly 20 years above the average," has some interesting facts. And it also claims that "Global Insight forecasts that a smaller crossover, a version of the Saturn Vue, will arrive in 2008. In 2009, the LaCrosse is expected to be redesigned and renamed Regal, bringing back a popular nameplate. The front-wheel-drive Lucerne could be replaced by a larger rear-drive sedan in 2010, perhaps as the Riviera." Click here for the…

I noticed that there are a good many unsold Lacrosses on the GM BuyPower website, just over 40 here in Florida. They are mostly vehicles with goofy equipment packages that raise the MSRP without making the car worthwhile. An example of this is a CXS without the Gold Convenience Package but with sunroof, MP3 player, stabilitrack, etc. I thought they cleared all these out with their employee pricing scheme. How do they think they'll sell this orphaned inventory?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1997-BUICK-...1QQcmdZViewItem Despite of the common "guppy face" name, I've always loved the last gen Rivera all around on the exterior and while the interior I thought was quite nice, I thought it was a bit bland and lacking something. This car could be a possibility of being my next car and if that's the case one thing I have considered doing is maybe installing a wood dash. After seeing some of these pics on that auction I'm not so sure any more. Perhaps one with black or beige (definately not blue!) leather and a darker wood it might stand out a bit more. Any thoughts?

At first we thought it had to be a mistake. General Motors is already paying customers to take the 2008 Buick Enclave off their hands? It's not even on dealer lots yet, but Automotive News reports Buick is offering $1,000 "Conquest Bonus Cash" and 4.9% financing available on the $32k+ CUV. Though the "Conquest Cash" is intended to draw non-GM-driving customers away from the competition, no matter the name, rebates on brand new vehicles are obvious admissions of overpricing that only enforce car shoppers' addiction to cash-back offers. If the Enclave performs as well and is as reliable as it is gorgeous, it shouldn't need any incentives. On the other hand, a drop-dea…

Rumors of Buick doing a wagon variant of the Regal have been floating around a for few years and it has either fallen into one of two categories: GM is considering it or they have passed on it. A new rumor has the Regal Wagon coming. Automotive News reports that a recent national dealer meeting, Buick revealed images of the next-generation Regal. According to people that attending the meeting, the images included the next-generation Regal GS and a wagon. Unfortunately, the people didn't give any specific details on what the wagon looked like. It talks about its awakening in 1975 (M.Y., anyway) from its slumber (temporary departure) back in 1962. It's a good read and talks about key milestones, including the 1995 intake manifold which usually lasted about 60,000 miles (according to the article) and how the engine could go the long haul if the intake manifold was changed to the after-market reconfigured one to eliminate coolant seepage into places it shouldn't have been going. (Lots of Series II 3800s around and lots of ~'98 Intrigues/Regals/Grand Prixs cruising effortlessly on the freeway, which tells me they probably have the newer manifolds.) It was nearly two years ago that we learned that General Motors trademarked 'Regal Tourx'. At the time, we speculated this could mean the next-generation Regal would have a wagon variant - possibly something along the lines of the Audi A4 Allroad and Subaru Outback. Since then, we have been hearing rumors and various reports saying that the Regal wagon is coming - the most recent one coming this week. Now we have more evidence thanks to the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Motor1 got their hands on an emission certificate listing a number of General Motors vehicles equipped with the 2.0L turbo-four. In this list, we see the Regal, Regal AWD, and Regal Tour X AW…

These are the only three current Buick models. This reminds me of the fading days of Oldsmobile. Do we have confirmation that Buick is not going away? or is this a ship that GM is quietly filling with lead, like Olds? I think the name has some resonance with the older crowd still, and I wonder - why are there no plans for an Epsilon Buick? The size would be perfect for an entry-level Buick, IMO, and the quality of Epsilon is obviously now quite good. Thoughts?

Alright I know I am going to hear the internal competition argument here. But really why not make a Buick kappa with a 3.9 HV V6, we know it will fit or a supercharged 3.9 and a hard top? You could charge about $28,000 for a base model with it coming pretty loaded and sell an Ultra with the 3.9 supercharged v6 or the 3.6 HF V6 and charge $32,000. Seriously it would help fill capacity at Willmington AND it would lower peice cost due to increased volume. Key competitors would be the Chrysler Crossfire and Audi TT. Heck this idea just came to me style it after the Velite OR make it retro styled after late 40s Buicks. Any comments or suggestions guys? Possibly a p…

So, not many changes are in store for the LaCrosse and Lucerne. Both get tire-pressure monitoring standard. The LaCrosse gets new available wheels on the CXL, and a new standard 12-spoke wheel on the CXS. A few color changes are in store for both--most likely just name changes for the current colors. Touch screen Nav will be available for the Lucerne, as well as a cargo net. Both retain the 3800 as a base.

This news is about a week old but I have not seen it around here, there are two short articles I found on it here http://www.indiantelevision.com/mam/headli.../julymam118.htm and here http://www.tvweek.com/news.cms?newsId=10443 Buick's marketing campaign has been aggressive using product placements in shows like Monk and The Apprentice as well as advertising on hundreds of major websites on the internet. My question to you is do you think this is effective? I question the effectiveness of placing the Lucerne in shows like Monk and The Apprentice (second season) when their popularity isn't at an all-time high and forgoing truly large events that Chevy and Cadillac o…

Custom Skylark Found in Sarasota It's 1953 Again as One-Off Buick Skylark Convertible Surfaces Link to Original Article @ Edmunds SARASOTA, Fla. — It dawned slowly on collector and restorer Eugene Cohen: The 1953 Buick Skylark convertible he was working on was a one-of-a-kind. He already knew the car was one of only 1,690 built by GM, but details found on none of those other Skylarks made him realize this one was built as a showcar — or as a special treat for some VIP or employee of Buick. Cohen said the "general consensus among retired GM executives...at vintage-car meets" is that it was probably an auto show display model. The big tipoff was the blank trim and paint…

We have been wondering what the next-generation Buick Enclave would look like and now we have a general idea. Automotive News got their hands on some new spy shots showing an Enclave test mule sitting at a gas station. It appears Buick has made the Enclave less bulbous than the current model. The front end features Buick's new waterfall grille that debuted on the LaCrosse and a set of slim headlights. For the back, there's a new set of taillights and dual-exhaust system. If the Chevrolet Traverse is anything to go by, the Enclave will get the current 3.6L V6 producing 305 horsepower hooked up to a nine-speed automatic. There is the possibility of a 2.0L turbo-four wi…

We attended the Miami Auto Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center on tony S. Beach in the concrete jungle of Miami Hyphen Dade County. I took a good many snaps and this stupid board won't let me post them. If somebody would be so kind as to help me out with this I would appreciate it. The Buick display had a chopped away blue Lucerne with a cashmere interior and a silver one with black inside. Both of the vehicles were CXS models. The blue one looks very nice;"regal" if you will, in the dictionary sense of the word. The silver one I don't care for, especially what they told me were raw chrome wheels as opposed to the shiny chrome plated wheels th…

[source: Car And Driver] 2010 Buick LaCrosse CXS - Short Take Road Test Easily the Best Buick Sedan in a Long Time In Canada, this car is sold as the Allure because, in French-speaking Quebec, "lacrosse" is slang for pleasuring oneself. Given General Motors' desperate financial situation, there are those who believe Buick's continued existence is a sort of corporate self-gratification. But the Enclave proved that people are willing to pay a premium for a stylish, well-executed Buick, and the 2010 Buick LaCrosse should please more people than just those inside GM. Heritage Reinterpreted Even if its shape seems a b…

During a lull in work this afternoon I was nosing around a Buick Pontiac dealer in West Palm Beach. A CXL V-6 model was in the showroom. It was platinum with a gray interior, six person seating. To tell you the truth it did not look bad for a base model with leather, chrome wheels and driver confidence package. The seating is comfortable and the dash and interior looks a lot cleaner than what I am accustomed to. The body lines are interesting in person. The horizontal body crease just below the belt line flattens out, disppears, around the wheel wells. The creases in the hood flatten out and disappear as they go down toward the grille. I looked at a black Lucerne CXS tha…

Any Buick/GM insiders know the status of the RWD Buick? Is it a convertible, a coupe, sedan? Lutz referred to it briefly as a Statesman, and frankly I'm surprised no reporter who was there asked a follow up question.

Review can be found here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1067591_2012-buick-verano-first-drive If you blow up the images on the 2nd page gallery and look closely you will get a few good pictures of the cloth/leatherette combo. Looks to be a high quality execution, not poorly executed or sore thumb out of place like I had feared it might be.

Wow is all I have to say. I know it's new, but I've noticed typos, I don't care for the layout, and there's a reduction in the number of pictures they show for each model. And only 3 of the colors available on the LaCrosse (black, light silver and brown) are the only colors you DON'T have to pay extra for. And the price of the base LaCrosse went up by over a thousand. The price of the base Lucerne went up about 2500. You now pay over $30,000 if you want a base Lucerne that still doesn't have a telescoping steering wheel and comes with a manual a/c, while the base LaCrosse has tilt/telescopic and auto a/c. One of the pictures is of the gear selector, and the capti…

(1) Electrochromic Windows This is nothing new. The technology has been around for decades. The window glass has an electrochromic film applied onto it or sandwiched between two panes of glass. The film is almost clear until voltage is applied on it when it turns dark. The level of darkness can be controlled at the touch of a button or turn of a dial. Each passenger can control the darkness of his window. The driver can have a master override to darken or lighten all windows if needed. In addition, the car can be engineered to for example automatically lighten glass when reverse is engaged or have different default darkness settings in the day and at night. This basical…

DETROIT — General Motors Co. said Tuesday the rollout of its new 2010 Buick LaCrosse is being delayed for a few weeks due to quality concerns. Speaking to analysts and reporters during a conference call on August sales, GM's vice president of U.S. sales Mark LaNeve said about 300 to 400 of the cars were shipped in August, but further deliveries are on hold until the company works out what it called "quality issues." The company wouldn't offer specifics on exact problems with the LaCrosse, but LaNeve said they "were not serious but were enough to delay us three or four weeks while we made sure they were fixed so that our customers didn't have any problems." For the c…

Los Angeles Times writer Dan Neil reviews the Buick Enclave in his article, "A Buick crossover plays to more than front row." he states, "There will be a lot of hearty back-and-forth about whether the Enclave meets or beats the standard for mass-class luxury, the Lexus and Acura. Not quite. But the deficits are small and fixable." To view the entire article, click here.

Hi all. I am new to the site. I found a link to this place when I was on wikipedia looking up some Buick stuff. Since all of you seem pretty knowledgable I was hoping someone could confirm or deny a rumor I keep hearing.... Will the 2007 Bucik LaCrosse have the portholes? I am getting ready to buy a LaCrosse, but if the '07 has the portholes I will wait until those are out on the lots. One dealership said no, another said yes, and another still said only on the V8 Buick LaCrosse Super - which was the first I have heard of that car. Does anyone know for sure? I was thinking of getting and '06 LaCrosse in August because you can get great deals in August / September..…
