  2. Tesla's production hell seems to be only getting worse than better. Various issues at their Freemont plant has caused the automaker to push back their goal of producing 5,000 Model 3s from late last year to June of this year. This, in turn, has caused some holders of Model 3 reservations to have their order pushed back to 2019. “As we work hard to meet demand, we wanted to let you know that your estimated delivery timing has been adjusted to a slightly later window,” Tesla said in an email to customers. According to Bloomberg, the new date depends on when the reservation was placed and what model was chosen. Tesla is trying to get the more expensive long-range b…

  3. When Chevrolet initially took the wraps off the Silverado EV last year, GM had estimated up to a 400 mile range based on its own calculations. As the Silverado EV has made its way through development, it went for EPA certification and came back with 50 miles more than GM's estimate. With this new EPA certification, the Silverado EV has an over 100-mile advantage over its only on-sale competitor the F-150 Lightning Extended Range (320 miles). The Silverado EV will launch first in WT trim with this 450-mile range in the next few weeks. Soon after, a less expensive WT model will launch with a 350-mile range. All Silverado EVs will be available with DC Fast Charging up to …

Just got my Dec M/T mag today. If you don't have a subscription, pick one up at the news stand. Main article is the Z06 vs Ford GT vs Dodge Viper. All back to back tested in the same conditions. The GT was quickest with a 11.5 ET but the ZO6 was nipping at it's front bumper with a 11.6 ET. The Viper was slowest of the 3. But while the Z only got beat by .1 in the 1/4 miles, it bested the Viper and GT's cornering, slalom, track lap time and braking distance... all for $68k vs $166k of the GT. Also (we're not done yet) is a article of the Pontiac Solstice vs Mazda MX5 and Charger SRT8 vs Pontiac GTO.

What would you order or select? Personally I would be having a hard time deciding on the ease of an automatic or fun of a manual. I have lots of hills in my town and because the SS with the automatic is said to get 0-60 in only 4.7 seconds (same an a manual) it would be even harder for me, plus 1 mpg better on the highway. Also with the tap shift that makes it even harder for me to pick one, but the same 0-60 doesn't add up since the L99 automatic cars have 26 less hp, anyone know what gives? Or is the new 6L80 that "performance style" of tranny? I would personally get a 1SS coupe with either a stick or auto, and maybe the RS package, if I got a 1SS without the RS packa…

We have a tight-ish 90-degree turn into the 1-car-wide garage door opening, and with the GP at least- it is on the tight side. GP width is 72" and the mirrors do not fold. We would consider either another mid-size sedan or a crossover/small SUV. Space, economy & reliability are primary concerns. I don't pay enormous attention to modern vehicle specs- I had thought the Vue & Equinox were on the same platform- I see now that they're not. 12. GM continues to make steady progress readying updates for its heavy-duty pickups, including a minor face-lift. Originally thought to be badged as 2010 models, new information now pegs the revisions for the 2011 model year. The one-ton Chevrolet Silverado 3500 in this picture sports the same grille as the current half-ton Silverado 1500, but as we first reported last year, we think it's temporary. A different grille with better fitment is likely in the works. The front bumper, however, is believed to be ready for production. GM has softened the huge metal flares at the corners of the current Silverado HD's bumper by topping off the uppermost portion with plastic from end…

The new 6.2L V8 will produce 450 HP and 450 pound-feet of torque. That can propel the C7 to 60 in under 4.0 seconds, which puts it within a hair of the 2012 Corvette Z06's 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds. I think I already know the answer to this, but I haven't actually seen detailed bits about the drivetrain... but its my understanding that the Volt will have a totally electric drivetrain. A gas engine, but not directly connected to the wheels, but to a generator. So if I understand correctly, since any set of wheels can be happily powered, which will it be? Front or rear? I would actually be somewhat interested in a large RWD electric coupe. ;-) I'm sure someone will set me straight in less than an hour... thanks in advance.

The styling for the production model retains the basic shape of the concept. Up front is the clip from Volt and the rear end reminds us of the BMW i3. As we reported in a previous Bolt spying piece, the interior will look similar to the Volt's. But we think the Bolt will have a larger touchscreen. Now the Bolt will make its official debut next month at the Consumers Electronic Show in Las Vegas. Production will begin sometime late in 2016 at GM's Lake Orion plant. I love the Supersonic Blue Metallic paint on the Corvette, but really wish they would offer it on the Camaro. Any insights if there are color changes for the upcoming 2013 Camaro? Anyone know if it would be possible to "special order" a new Camaro build with a factory color from another vehicle? I'd be willing to pay a bit extra. I was thinking about the "hood scoop" on the Camaro yesterday, and whether it was really functional or not. Anyways, regardless of whether it is functional, it's not needed with the LS2. The LS2 is a "bottom breather" meaning it takes in air from underneath. The reason the Z06 has a little hood scoop is because the LS7 is not a bottom breather but rather a "front breather" meaning it takes in air from the front/top of the engine. So, knowing that, even if the scoop is funtional, it probably does very little for cooling the LS2, so... maybe that hints at the LS7 or another front breathing engine being possible in the future for the Camaro.

Settle down: Volt batteries can recharge while driving What the Volt's gas engine can't do is completely recharge the battery pack to its full capacity. Rather, when load conditions are light the gas engine will send surplus electrons to the battery pack, which will also be receiving extra charge from regenerative braking, as well. That sounds about right to us, as we've always been told that constantly charging a battery to its maximum will shorten its life, as the optimum charge range is usually between 20 and 80 percent, not completely drained and not completely charged. GM is determining right now just how much it wants to let the gas engine charge the Volt's batter…

Up front is a revised grille (similar to the one seen on the Cruze) with new headlights and LED daytime running lights. Around the side is a character line that swoops down and 'Equinox' name on the front doors. The back features a restyled tailgate, blacked-out pillars to give the impression of wrap-around glass, and horizontal taillights. The interior matches up with newer Chevrolet models with a floating screen (either seven or eight-inches) and eithe…

With Ford working on a hybrid version of the Mustang, it doesn't come as a surprise that Chevrolet is looking into this as well. 65. Chevrolet has announced pricing for the upcoming Colorado ZR2 Bison. Built with the help of American Expedition Vehicles, the Bison takes the capable ZR2 and adds some more features to allow it to go further in the bush. But it will set you back a fair amount of cash. When it arrives at dealers in January, the Extended Cab will set you back $48,045. The crew cab begins at $49,645. Both prices include a $995 destination charge. That represents a premium of $5,000 to $6,000 when compared to the standard ZR2. That price premium may seem a bit much, but it is going towards some proper upgrades. The includes new skid plates protecting key items such as the oil pan an…

The Detroit News has published a report today saying the model would arrive in 2019 along with other details about the model. We're going to give a summary of the most interesting bits from the report, but we highly recommend checking out the full piece. Has the codename of Emperor and is expected to debut in early 2018 (most likely Detroit) The goal for this model is to try and draw younger folks into buying a Corvette. The average age of a Corvette owner is around 59 years old. …

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe A most impressive full-size effort. by Eric Peters (2006-01-02) There's a lot riding on the '07 Tahoe-much more than just a new body and revised chassis. GM badly needs for its popular full-size SUV (and its shared platform stablemates, the new '07 Caddy Escalade, GMC Yukon and the long-wheelbase Suburban) to hold the line against the burgeoning onslaught of large SUVs from Nissan (Armada) and Toyota (the coming '07 Tundra/Sequoia), some of which have already made significant incursions into territory that used to be the exclusive domain of U.S. automakers. In my mind the largest advantadge to the HHR is that the Ecotech is that much more "Advanced" than the Chryselr mill. Does anybody know if Chrysler plans to discontinue the PT anytime soon? Since the '07 Impala had no styling changes whatever from the'06, does anyone know what changes might be in store for the '08 model? Specifically: Any revisions at all to either the front end clip, or the trunk/taillight design? I could see that they might want to change the front end clip a bit, to make it more in synch with the bigger grille on the '08 Malibu. And I really wish they would so SOMETHING with the taillights; they are so non-descript so as to be almost indistinguishable from just about every new sedan (Accord, Five Hundred, Montego, G6. etc., etc.). SO..... Does anyone know what's up next for the '08 Impala???

I had many a shirt/poster/etc with that black MC SS (and had a 1987 MC SS Aero Coupe) and Lumina. That car color combo is legendary. Then in 2001, it all changed. 96. In a case of what appears to be semantics, Chevy has revealed that the Camaro will now be a 2010 model, rather than a 2009 model. The semantic part is that the car will go on sale in the spring of 2009, yet still be called a 2010 Camaro. The reason the car won't go on sale earlier in 2009 is because Chevy says "it would have meant a short model run before changeover to "10 production". So we aren't sure how the car could go on sale earlier in 2009 unless Chevy began selling it in the rather un-Camaro-like season of winter. We also aren't sure why it matters whether they call it a 2009 or a 2010 -- people just want to take deliveries of their Camaros already. And we aren…

There's no denying the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is an eye-catcher, and it has the performance to match it, with even the V6 variant checking in at over 300hp. But all that mean and too little green could be making it harder for General Motors, despite over 18,000 sales so far. GM's new de facto controlling investors - lawmakers in Washington - do not appreciate the car's success, however.
