19 owners of the 2006 - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and 427 models have filed a class-action lawsuit against General Motors against an engine issue. The lawsuit says the 7.0L V8 fitted in these models have excessive valve guide wear that leads to engine failures. The suit goes on to say that GM is aware of this problem, but hasn't come up with a solution. According to Law360, General Motors began testing vehicles equipped with the V8 and were able to replicate the problem. The issue is that GM didn't go any further with the tests as it “would lead to more repair and investigations than it wished to perform.” If this suit goes forward, it might lead to lawsuits dea…

Jamie LaReau Automotive News August 25, 2008 - 12:01 am ET High gasoline prices, tougher fuel economy regulations and limited product development funds are forcing Chevrolet to reinvent much of next decade's product line. Gone are plans for a rear-drive Impala. In question are the big, once highly profitable SUVs, which may be replaced with smaller vehicles. Waiting in the wings is the ballyhooed rear-drive Camaro, arriving in February. On the horizon are a redesigned Aveo, the new Cruze economy sedan and the pure-electric Volt. Several years away is a minicar with excellent fuel economy. Aveo: The subcompact will be redesigned for the 2011 model year. …

When Chevrolet unveiled the Suburban and Tahoe RST last year, the Suburban seemed to get the short end of the stick. It didn't have the option of the 6.2L V8 that was available on the Tahoe. Chevrolet is fixing that for the 2019 Suburban RST. Available later this summer, the RST Performance Package for the Suburban brings the 420 horsepower 6.2 V8, 10-speed automatic, and magnetic ride control. We don't have a 0-60 mph time for the Suburban, but we're expecting to be a few tenths slower than the Tahoe RST with the same powertrain. Chevrolet does say the Suburban RST with the 6.2 can tow up to 8,100 pounds. “The RST Performance Package made its debut on the Tahoe R…

Brazilian-born: GPiX Chevrolet concept is a two-door compact SUV. Chevrolet previews an SUV coupe designed for the South American market By DAVID HASSALL 4 November 2008 GENERAL Motors last week revealed a BMW X6-style two-door compact SUV concept with a view to production for the emerging South American market. The youth-oriented Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe concept was produced by GM’s Brazilian design studio, which is being tripled in size at a cost of US$36 million ($53.2 million) to play a bigger role in global development programs. Presented at the Sao Paulo motor show, the Chevrolet concept rides on relatively modest 17-inch wheels and features LED head…

A Focus group is being formed and they will meet in May. 12 people were picked from a enthusiast web site and will help with feedback on option packages and other items on the new car. They will also be taken to the Milford proving grounds so this shows we have some Camaro's prototypes in country so our Detroit phone photog's might want to keep an eye out for any odd cars what could be a rebodied Camaro. I have someone I know that is one of the 12 and is a great informed Camaro fan. So this group is not a lot of people that really have no clue so you can rest easy that the fee back will be from pople that really car and understand. It would have been fun to have …

September 26th, 2013 Drew Dowdell Managing Editor - CheersandGears.com It is Texas State Fair time and that means it is Pickup Truck release time. Earlier today, Ford released information on its upgraded F-series Superduty trucks. General Motors has now released the updates for their 2015 Chevrolet Silverado HD and 2015 Sierra HD. Forget horsepower wars, this class of truck competes in a towing and payload capability war, and General Motors just upped the bar. Both of the General's HDs now boast a best-in-class payload rating of 7,374 pounds and a towing capability of 19,600 pounds for conventional trailering. Fifth wheel towing is up to 23,200. Under the hood, both …

As i searched this site and other automotive news sites the past few days, i've noticed one recurring theme, That the new lineup of Chevy SS's have been recieving the BEST reviews we've seen from a chevy in a LOOOOONNNNGGG Time! I don't know about all of you, but i KNOW that if they can build a whole line-up of great cars, why can't they build EVERY car that good? The Malibu SS, Cobalt SS, Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS are great, but why cant the base Cobalt or Monte be just as good as it's brotheren? That is my question. It's not a matter of can they do it (b/c it obvious that they can!) but why they don't do it! …

Another class-action lawsuit involving a diesel vehicle has been filed this week, but it doesn't deal with Volkswagen. The Detroit News reports that class-action lawsuit has been filed against General Motors this week alleging the company used illegal software on the Chevrolet Cruze diesel to allow it to pass emission tests in the lab, while polluting more in the outside world. Also, the suit alleges the company falsely and marketed its Cruze Diesel as a “clean vehicle.” The suit, filed by the Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro law firm in Seattle says the six plaintiffs it is representing in this suit have tested their vehicles with a portable emissions measurement system. …

As a number of manufacturers are running away from diesel (and who can blame them), Chevrolet is running towards it with the introduction of the Cruze Diesel early next year. Now Chevrolet has announced pricing for the diesel variant. The Cruze Diesel will begin at $24,670 for the six-speed manual and $26,270 for the nine-speed automatic. Like the previous Cruze Diesel, the new model will only be available in the LT trim which nets you LED daytime running lights, seven-inch infotainment system, and six-speaker audio system. The diesel will also get the optional Convenience package as standard - keyless entry, push-button start, power driver's seat, and heat for the f…

LaNeve to Campbell-Ewald: Fix Chevy's Ads Auto News: GM Marketing Chief Applies Pressure as Sales Slip By Jamie LaReau Link to Original Article @ AdAge DETROIT (AdAge.com) -- General Motors Corp. marketing chief Mark LaNeve is sending a blunt message to Chevrolet's long-standing ad agency, Campbell-Ewald: Fix Chevy's car ads. During our GM Canada dealer meetings tonight in Ontario we were introduced to the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe and the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche. Although we were unable to sit in them, we were given an upclose look at the exterior of the models and let me tell you, they are even more amazing in real life. The Avalanche still has its unmistakable styling but has been softened on the sides and made more agressive on the front end. Some of the features we are too expect is a power operated hard cover and rolling cargo area, like that introduced this year on the 2006 Cadillac EXT. Dare I say that the side view of the Avalanche reminded me of the Ridgeline but much more Avalanche …

Another piece of the 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel puzzle has been revealed. The official EPA numbers have been released and they are quite impressive. Chevrolet will be introducing a new base model of the 2018 Tahoe called the Custom. Standard equipment includes 18-inch wheels, 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, OnStar 4G LTE with Wi-Fi, backup camera, and remote start. Like most Tahoes, the Custom features the 5.3L V8 with 355 horsepower. Out of the box, the Tahoe Custom can tow up to 6,600 pounds. An optional max trailering package boosts that to 8,600 pounds. “The Tahoe Custom is a response to strong customer demand for Tahoe, as well as the full-size…

GM's Secret for Safe Lithium-ion Batteries: Cool It! Link to Original Article @ Edmunds Green Car Advisor General Motors Vice Chairman Bob Lutz raised eyebrows in battery development circles when he said recently that GM was “100 percent confident” that it has whipped the overheating problem that is hampering development of lithium-ion battery packs for electric and hybrid cars. Now the General’s secret can be told. Tony Posawatz, vehicle line director for GM's E-Flex electric vehicle platform, told Green Car Advisor during an interview in Detroit that instead of mounting a frontal attack on battery design for the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car that is un…

Blake Noble Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 4th, 2012 GM hasn’t exactly been bashful about the fact it plans to build a new rear-drive performance sedan for Chevrolet next year, and race it on your local NASCAR track. Announced in March of this year, the upcoming Chevy — which will wear the SS moniker in either short or long-hand form — should likely boast the same 6.2 liter V8 heart which furiously beats beneath the hood of the Camaro SS. The 6.2 should produce upwards of 415 horsepower for use in the SS sedan. When news broke about the Chevrolet SS, it was widely believed that the car would be only be available with a V8 and four doors. However, that may no…

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe A most impressive full-size effort. by Eric Peters (2006-01-02) There's a lot riding on the '07 Tahoe-much more than just a new body and revised chassis. GM badly needs for its popular full-size SUV (and its shared platform stablemates, the new '07 Caddy Escalade, GMC Yukon and the long-wheelbase Suburban) to hold the line against the burgeoning onslaught of large SUVs from Nissan (Armada) and Toyota (the coming '07 Tundra/Sequoia), some of which have already made significant incursions into territory that used to be the exclusive domain of U.S. automakers. GM can't afford to lose any more market share - most espe…

Return of the Real Impala By John Pearley Huffman Date posted: 11-14-2005 If General Motors has a distinctive engineering tradition it's a weird commitment to V8 front-drivers. Since the introduction of the 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado, GM has always had at least one V8-powered front-driver in its product line. Usually two. Despite all that history, this V8-powered, 303-horsepower 2006 Impala SS is the layout's first migration to Chevrolet. Dismissing this Chevy Impala SS as a pretender because it isn't rear-drive like the Impalas of yesteryear is a lazy cop-out. It's a cop-out because those old Impalas weren't that great and how this car compares to t…

Perhaps since Ford said this and not Toyota we can deal with the content rather than the messenger: http://gm-volt.com/2009/02/06/exclusive-fo...d-explains-why/ Combine this with Ford's earlier statement that a battery about the size of the Volt's would cost ~$20K and you can see why the Volt was less "technological leap" and more baby step off the side of a bridge. That's why no one was seriously following. But it is unfortunate that so many were compelled by the PR to "make pretend". I've posted elsewhere how this distraction could has cost the US many billions of gallons of fuel by 2015... and that is if the Volt actually even delivers what has been claimed! G…

Chevrolet has an interesting week. Tomorrow, the automaker will be revealing the next-generation Cruze. Then a day after, the 6th generation Camaro Convertible will be shown for the first time. Unfortunately for Chevrolet, someone posted the images of the new Camaro Convertible on Chevy's site. The company has pulled them down, but the folks at Camaro6.com got the images. Not surprisingly, the convertible looks much the same as the coupe. We'll have more details on the drop-top Camaro later this week. Source: Camaro6.com View full article

GM accepts Dodge Viper challenge The new 600-horsepower 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 won't keep its king-of-the-hill position for long if General Motors Corp. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has anything to do with it. Asked on Thursday during a meeting with analysts whether Chevrolet plans to produce the Corvette Blue Devil, GM's next generation super sports car, to usurp the Viper's newly won pole position in the race for the title of most powerful U.S. sports car, Lutz scoffed. "As you all know, it is not our policy to discuss future product programs. However ... ," he said to laughter from the audience, "it is very important for Corvette to be the most powerful, most capable, bes…

I admit it ... I'm not all that enthusiastic about Chevrolet's current lineup, given that Chevrolet is offering FWD versions of what they claim to be the malibu, impala and monte carlo. So, I'm not sure what exactly possessed me to visit Huntley (IL) Chevrolet ... the dealership that showcases a '49 Chevrolet in its showroom ... this past Friday night. I think it was a combination of curiosity, the employee discount's final hours, and that I was itching to get into a showroom again. I test drove a Cobalt during my short time there and was pleasantly surprised/impressed. My eyes also captured a glimpse of an '06 impala. Yes, I felt disdain/di…

So, I made a chop of what I hope to one day see, a Saleen Camaro (please comment on this chop's design HERE): Then I did a little Saleen S281 (Mustang) research. S281 stands for the Saleen version of Ford's 281 cubic inch 4.6L V8 in the Mustang GT. The Saleen S281's performance specs are as follows (stage: "name of stage" -- horsepower/torque): Ford Mustang GT -- 300/320 S281 Stage 1: "3-Valve" -- 330/340 S281 Stage 2: "Supercharged" -- 435/425 S281 Stage 3: "Extreme" -- 550/500 However, the Mustang only uses one V8 and we're counting on the Camaro having two from the factory. Therefore, I'm going to use the lower-end V8 for the Saleen version of our beloved 5th G…

I'm going to be getting a new 2007 Avalanche soon but can't really make a good decision what model to get. I like the LTZ with the 20" wheels but also like the practicality (and looks) of the cladding on my current model. Has anyone heard anything about the new Z71 Avalanche, and specifically, what kind of wheels, ground clearance, cladding and other features that it's going to have? Why can't GM at least release a simple list of features on the new Z71 Avalanche so that I at least know what I can expect. Instead of blindly awaiting a truck that may not even exist (having the features I've listed above).

The current Chevrolet Equinox is nearing the end of its lifecycle and we have been wondering when we'll be seeing any information about it. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have some photos to show what Chevrolet has in store. The most apparent thing we can tell the photos is the new model is smaller than the outgoing model. This confirms a report back from January that Chevrolet will be moving the Equinox downmarket to compete better with compact crossovers. We can't you much about the exterior thanks to excellent camouflage job done by GM. Car and Driver says the Equinox will use GM's Delta architecture and possibly feature the same suspension setup as the Buick…

It’s perfectly sized and suited for the needs of many of today’s truck users,” said Edward Loh, editor-in-chief at Motor Trend. The Colorado earned praise for its s…

(Vindicator (Youngstown, OH) (KRT) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Sep. 5--LORDSTOWN -- General Motors is asking its midnight shift workers at its Lordstown complex if they would come in for extra Saturday hours so it can pump out more cars to dealers. "We're trying to work as much overtime as we can so we can satisfy demand," said Chris Lee, a GM spokesman. The complex has overtime scheduled the next four Saturdays, although the number of shifts will vary. Only two shifts had been scheduled for this Saturday, but GM has determined it needs to boost production further. The plant produces about 500 cars a shift. The added production stands to be welcomed by d…

Overall, they liked it, but the tone of the review was way too negative. They really had very little to complain about and even liked the 4-speed, but of course they make the review less pleasing to read by adding in a bunch of needless crap (and sometimes false, needless crap). Here's how the review starts for example: "First, the bad news: GM is releasing its newest pickup truck, the Silverado, into one of the most hotly contested segments around -- at a time when full-size-vehicle-bashing is fast becoming a new sport. Additionally, Toyota (whose market share continues to grow) is on the verge of releasing its first crack at this lucrative full-size pickup-truck mar…

The problem with the previous spy shots of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette was you couldn't really tell what it was. The shots showed a blurry mule on GM's test track. For all we knew, it could have been bigfoot terrorizing GM employees. But finally, we have gotten the first clear and detailed shots of the mid-engine Corvette. It is clear this mule is mid-engined because of the proportions - short front and long rear end. There also appears to be some bits from the C7 such as the taillights. Other details are hidden by the heavy camouflage. Details on the mid-engine Corvette are very sketchy. As we have reported previously, the mid-engine Corvette could be sh…

Inside Line: our Chevy Volt's battery miles cost more than the gas ones AutoBlog We often, though sometimes incorrectly, assume that it's cheaper to operate an electric vehicle than a comparable gasoline auto. Hey, who hasn't? While this assumption generally holds true, electrical rates vary widely across the nation and can throw off the numbers. In some instances, like when Inside Line's engineering editor, Jason Kavanagh, drove the Chevrolet Volt out in sunny California, one discovers that operating a vehicle powered by electricity can indeed cost more than running it with the liquid fuel that pours from a pump. Kavanagh explained how he discovered that operating a Vo…

Beginning with a base ZR2, the Bison swaps the front grille, adds a tougher front bumper with integrated winch, a rear bumper with recovery hook-ups, and a set of 17 x 8-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac off-road tires. Underneath, AEV designed five skid plates made out of Boron steel to protect various mechanical bits. The snorkel seen in the photos is available as an option. “As this…

Since it's dayview, I haven't thought too much of this vehicle. After reading about it in the latest M/T mag I not anymore of a fan than before. What was GM thinking when designing this vehicle? Why the I-5 for one? Why isn't it just based off the Trailblazer with the 4.2? 14cty/19hwy is hardly good milage for a low output I-5 so using that motor for milage is no excuse. It's off road capability's rated well but that's where it stopped. It's slow, underpowered, can only tow 4500lbs for the price of a full size truck or decently equipped Avalanche. $30k base and $38k loaded!

If you're currently a Ford Mustang owner or lessee, until the end of October there is $3,000 waiting for you on the hood of any 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. Chevy's Camaro has consistently ranked third in sales behind the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang ever since the 6th generation model debuted for 2016. Sales fell further in 2019 after a disastrous redesign of the front fascia on SS trim models, down 7.6% year to date. This despite the greater availability of 4-cylinder models and packages that put the V8 in easier reach. While the Camaro is down 7.6 percent, the Mustang has also fallen 10.1 percent and Challenger is down 11 percent year to date. The Ford and the …

Introducing the 2007 Aveo Sedan By Ed Peper Chevrolet General Manager With the incredible growth of the economy car segment in the past year, it's vital for manufacturers to continually innovate, update and change the game. Well, that's what Chevy is doing right now. Two years ago, we brought our all-new Aveo to market, as "the small car that thinks big." And now, we defy the norms of the auto industry by introducing a new Aveo Sedan for the 2007 model year. Aveo has been the sales leader in this segment virtually since its introduction, and this dynamite new four-door promises to continue that trend. We'll be holding a press conference and webcast to announce our …

Link to Article One of the most highly anticipated vehicles to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson this year was the first 2010 Chevy Camaro. There are very few instant classics these days, and this is one of them. There's still a month before actual series production of the car is slated to begin, but the winning bidder claimed the right to the very first retail production car that can be ordered in any color and with any options he chooses. Last year, it took exactly one-million dollars to win the hotly contested rights to the first 2009 Corvette ZR1, and this year $350,000 claimed the first edition of the newly-revived Camaro. Just as with last year's ZR1, all pro…

Super Vette Spied! Again! Chevy’s 650-hp Corvette SS caught heading in for EPA testing AutoWeek | Published 11/06/06, 9:03 am et Link to full article and pics @ Autoweek Not even a month has passed since we first reported on Chevrolet’s plans for a super Corvette, a halo model well in excess of the already superb Z06. Judging by these spy shots, it appears assurances we were given earlier this year that the car was on the development fast track (“To Hell and Back,” May were right on target. These photos were taken by George Kachadoorian just outside of Ann Arbor last week. He suspects the car was headed in for EPA testing. While the hood scoop indicates t…

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/19/this-is-your-best-look-yet-at-chevys-c7-corvette/ GM has really gone to lenghts to hide this car with camo even on the dash. The things to take here are the seats are seen. Also the Steering wheel and the C7 is next to a ZL1 to better judge the size. There is a shot of the rear hatch that looks like a more flat rear hatch with no wrap around to the opening part. The large rear center pipes with the 4 outlets are a nice touch. We should see more soon as this is following the same patter of GM photo leaks and bring the cars out to tease.

GM May Make 60,000 `Volt' Electric Cars in First Year By Jeff Green | Link to Original Article @ Bloomberg Aug. 22 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. may build as many as 60,000 of its Volt electric cars for their inaugural year on the market, four times the sales of Toyota Motor Corp.'s hybrid Prius in its U.S. debut, people with knowledge of GM's plans said. Production at that level may allow GM to sell the plug-in Volt for less than $30,000, said the people, who didn't want to be identified because the plans are confidential. The discussions show the Detroit automaker, racked by losses and U.S. sales declines, believes an affordable electric car will help spur a …

GM puts a lid on Impala output to boost pricing Jamie LaReau | Automotive News / March 20 DETROIT -- How do you make more profit while selling fewer vehicles? By controlling inventory and squeezing more revenue out of each transaction. General Motors is capping production of the Chevrolet Impala sedan at 250,000 units for sale in the United States and Canada this year, a knowledgeable source says. That means GM is sacrificing about 60,000 sales of its best-selling car. GM also will emphasize higher trim levels to increase transaction prices. The automaker is trading unit volume for what it expects will be higher transaction prices, lower incentives and higher residua…

I am seeing tons of shiny white Uplanders at US Post Offices, and in many other places of business. So, some questions. Are fleet buyers getting them instead of full sized vans? Is the USPS getting them since they can run E85? Will the Uplander maybe continue past 2008, since there are very few affordable vans for fleet buyers? EDIT: I re-read the AutoWeek article which says 'into 2009', so look for more at your local PO. The white Uplanders have replaced the boxy UPS looking trucks in many PO districts. And seen a few contractors/utilities with them instead of full sized vans. Big question is, did Ford/GM make a big error thinking minivans with sliding doors are…

A couple years back, then General Motors' North American president, Mark Reuss said “That was a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake,” when asked why Chevrolet didn't sell the Cruze Hatchback in North America. William Maley Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com March 2, 2012 General Motors is putting their Detroit-Hamtramck assembly on a five-week shutdown due to the overabundance of Volts sitting on dealer lots. The shutdown will effect 1,300 workers. Currently, GM is on 6,319 Volts; 3,596 of those are sitting on dealer lots. That might not sound like a lot. But when you factor in the 1,023 Volts sold in February, then its a lot. GM usually tries to keep about two month's worth of inventory on dealer lots. The 6,319 Volts amounts to almost five months. The move comes after the plant came back online from an extended holiday break on February 6th. Source: Ward's Auto …

CarFax comes back clean with all maintenance done on it, no accidents and confirming the single owner. So the big question, being 4 years old with only 36K miles on it, what else should I look at on this baby. There does not seem to be a whole lot of info on problems or repairs. I …

With the new Ford F-150 selling and Nissan's next-generation Titan just around the corner, the pickup truck market is once again heating up. To get ready for the next onslaught, General Motors is readying a refresh of the full-size trucks. A spy photographer happen to get some shots of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The shots reveal that Chevrolet is planning some changes for the Silverado's front end with a new grille and headlights with LEDs like on the GMC Sierra. Also changing up front is a new hood design. GM is also looking to changing a few body panels to aluminum - the hood and front fenders being the likely ones. Around back, expect new taillights, along with so…

The age of the connected car is here as General Motors announced that 14 vehicles from Chevrolet's 2016 lineup will offer Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility through the MyLink infotainment system. This means GM is one of the first automakers to offer both systems, giving owners a relief when it comes to choosing one over the other. “For most of us, our smartphones are essential. Partnering with Apple and Google to offer CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility across the widest range of models in the industry is a great example of how Chevrolet continues to democratize technology that’s important to our customers,” said Mary Barra, CEO of General Motors. Chevrolet has revealed its new Cruze station wagon today, ahead of its scheduled reveal at the Geneva Auto Show next month. Set to go on sale this summer, the new wagon (or estate, if you'd prefer) adds a third bodystyle to the Cruze lineup to go alongside the sedan and hatchback in European showrooms. Chevy's new small wagon is 184 inches (4,675 mm) long, making it longer than either the sedan or hatch. Inside, the wagon offers 17.6 cubic feet of cargo space with the seats up and a nice 52 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Outside, new taillights flank the wagon's rear and the Cruze's new schnoz will make its official debut on this newest variant. Buyers get a choi…

Chevrolet Camaro Concept: Design Note: Recently, I brought you details about the design of the new Dodge Challenger, the concept that served as a precursor to Dodge’s re-entry into the revitalized Pony Car segment. In that article, you got to see a good chunk of images you had to pay-to-see over at Car Design News (which, to me, isn’t fair at all) and read about styling elements, etc. Now it’s time we look at an equally legendary machine: the Camaro These two sketches show a car that in no way is a Camaro and tends to be very futuristic. Cues from GM’s Autonomy concept and the Saturn Curve concept seem to litter these sketches. This early sketch shows cues from the…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com November 12, 2013 The Chevrolet SS when it becomes available later this year will be available with one engine (6.2L V8 with 415 horsepower), six-speed automatic, five colors, two options, and that's about it. A lot of us should be happy that GM decided to give the Holden Commodore in the U.S. idea another shot. But a good amount of people are wondering why GM isn't doing more with SS. Automotive.com got to the bottom of this and chatted with Chevrolet Performance Cars Marketing Manager John Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick explained that the reason for the simple SS offering comes down to volume. When Pontiac was selling the G8…

Although both Ram and Toyota have shown they are ready and willing to give Ford's SVT Raptor supertruck a challenge, one notable truck maker still declines to join the fight: General Motors. That, however, could be set to change soon. GM registered the "Z71 Trail Boss" trademark with the US Trademark and Patent Office on January 14, 2015. The trademark filing states the name is to be used on passenger vehicles, specifically light duty pickups. The new trademark – the "Trail Boss" portion of the name especially – suggests that there could be new, souped-up versions of GM's Z71 spec Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups in the pipeline. How GM could upgrade its Z71 …

Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, the UK, et al, could use the infusion of style in their respective Chevy lineups. GM shouldn't rest on the laurels of crusty Daewoos, bland late-model Opels/Holdens, and 90s Chevys. Go look at the respective sites for each country and tell me I'm lyin'. The HHR obviously won't interupt or infringe on the turf of any of the bread and butter Chevys in those markets. Besides, I can't see where it's THAT expensive, plus the car is still small enough and fuel efficient enough, with the Delta/Ecotec mechanicals common enough in the worldwide parts bin. Hell, it would even make a great taxi or cute delivery van in those markets. I think the…

GM continues to make steady progress readying updates for its heavy-duty pickups, including a minor face-lift. Originally thought to be badged as 2010 models, new information now pegs the revisions for the 2011 model year. The one-ton Chevrolet Silverado 3500 in this picture sports the same grille as the current half-ton Silverado 1500, but as we first reported last year, we think it's temporary. A different grille with better fitment is likely in the works. The front bumper, however, is believed to be ready for production. GM has softened the huge metal flares at the corners of the current Silverado HD's bumper by topping off the uppermost portion with plastic from end…

With the sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro sitting on dealer lots and the ZL1 being shown at New York, there is something still missing: The mad, track-oriented Camaro Z28. It seems GM is working on that model at the Nurburgring thanks to some new spy shots. This Camaro test mule is wearing some extreme aero parts such as deep canards on the front bumper and a massive rear wing. The pictures also reveal a set of larger brakes and wide rear tires. We're guessing the tires could be a set of Pirelli PZero Trofeo Rs - the same tires the last Camaro Z28 wore. Expect GM to do a major weight loss program for the new Z28 with racing seats, carbon fiber, and no air conditi…

To my suprise the Ford Five Hundred/Montigo tested best in the full size test, Saab 9-3 best in mid size with the Chevy Malibu in there also. I just saw a commercial for the Cobalt touting its "better than Honda Civic" fuel economy. This is misleading. They're taking the EPA rating of the manual Civic at 34 highway mpg and comparing it the the Cobalt XFE's 36 highway mpg while ignoring that the city rating is better for the Civic 26 vs 25 and the mix is the same at 29. Further, the automatic Civic has the same exact EPA ratings as the Cobalt XFE manual, a low-take option in the real world. Does "truth in advertising" mean anything to these ad people? GM, stop taking shortcuts and produce a higher mileage car. OR, compare what you've got to something that has less economy, e.g., the Focus (by one mpg).

Link to Article Superior Glass Works to sell 54 Sports Wagon based on C5 Corvette About two years ago, there was a nasty rumor that Ford was developing sedan and wagon variants of (gasp!) the Mustang. Torches were lit and pitchfork futures soared until Ford totally debunked the rumor. But 55 years ago, something similar took place at the 1954 Motorama in New York when Chevrolet displayed a Corvette-based wagon called the Nomad. The difference in the two stories, according to at least one Web site, is that the public absolutely loved the show car's styling. Smelling opportunity, GM management rushed the Nomad into production without even one trace of Corvette styling…
