19 owners of the 2006 - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and 427 models have filed a class-action lawsuit against General Motors against an engine issue. The lawsuit says the 7.0L V8 fitted in these models have excessive valve guide wear that leads to engine failures. The suit goes on to say that GM is aware of this problem, but hasn't come up with a solution. According to Law360, General Motors began testing vehicles equipped with the V8 and were able to replicate the problem. The issue is that GM didn't go any further with the tests as it “would lead to more repair and investigations than it wished to perform.” If this suit goes forward, it might lead to lawsuits dea…

Another class-action lawsuit involving a diesel vehicle has been filed this week, but it doesn't deal with Volkswagen. The Detroit News reports that class-action lawsuit has been filed against General Motors this week alleging the company used illegal software on the Chevrolet Cruze diesel to allow it to pass emission tests in the lab, while polluting more in the outside world. Also, the suit alleges the company falsely and marketed its Cruze Diesel as a “clean vehicle.” The suit, filed by the Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro law firm in Seattle says the six plaintiffs it is representing in this suit have tested their vehicles with a portable emissions measurement system. …

As a number of manufacturers are running away from diesel (and who can blame them), Chevrolet is running towards it with the introduction of the Cruze Diesel early next year. There is a sideview of what's described as the 2007 Chevrolet TrailBlazer at popularmechanics.com in their November "Detroit Spy Report." Insiders will have to comment on its accuracy, but I personally think the drawing is quite appealing, with fresh edges and shapes.

I'm going to be getting a new 2007 Avalanche soon but can't really make a good decision what model to get. I like the LTZ with the 20" wheels but also like the practicality (and looks) of the cladding on my current model. Has anyone heard anything about the new Z71 Avalanche, and specifically, what kind of wheels, ground clearance, cladding and other features that it's going to have? Why can't GM at least release a simple list of features on the new Z71 Avalanche so that I at least know what I can expect. Instead of blindly awaiting a truck that may not even exist (having the features I've listed above).

The current Chevrolet Equinox is nearing the end of its lifecycle and we have been wondering when we'll be seeing any information about it. Thanks to a spy photographer, we have some photos to show what Chevrolet has in store. The most apparent thing we can tell the photos is the new model is smaller than the outgoing model. Had a new 07 LTZ for around a month now. Love it. According to my onstar email update I have 5394 miles (how freaking cool). Just wondering what everyone was seeing for the average gas milage. Im in a 4wd LTZ and mine is going from pretty much 13.9-14.2 usually hoovering right at 14.1. Also how about the V4/V8 mode crusing I hardley ever see it kick into v4 mode unless I have the cruise on and I am going down a little hill. They really had very little to complain about and even liked the 4-speed, but of course they make the review less pleasing to read by adding in a bunch of needless crap (and sometimes false, needless crap). The problem with the previous spy shots of the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette was you couldn't really tell what it was. The shots showed a blurry mule on GM's test track. For all we knew, it could have been bigfoot terrorizing GM employees. But finally, we have gotten the first clear and detailed shots of the mid-engine Corvette. It is clear this mule is mid-engined because of the proportions - short front and long rear end. There also appears to be some bits from the C7 such as the taillights. Back in the spring, we reported that Chevrolet and American Expedition Vehicles (AEV) would taking the Colorado ZR2 AEV concept shown at SEMA last November into production. It would be named Bison. Today, Chevrolet and AEV have unveiled the production Bison. Since it's dayview, I haven't thought too much of this vehicle. After reading about it in the latest M/T mag I not anymore of a fan than before. What was GM thinking when designing this vehicle? Why the I-5 for one? Why isn't it just based off the Trailblazer with the 4.2? 14cty/19hwy is hardly good milage for a low output I-5 so using that motor for milage is no excuse. It's off road capability's rated well but that's where it stopped. It's slow, underpowered, can only tow 4500lbs for the price of a full size truck or decently equipped Avalanche. $30k base and $38k loaded!

I am seeing tons of shiny white Uplanders at US Post Offices, and in many other places of business. So, some questions. Are fleet buyers getting them instead of full sized vans? While watching some of the news this morning they mentioned the top cars that the insurance institute claimed as the safest. To my suprise the Ford Five Hundred/Montigo tested best in the full size test, Saab 9-3 best in mid size with the Chevy Malibu in there also. I found it interesting that CNN went out of their way to note that Saab was owned by GM and it was good to see a US owned car in there.
