I eat breakfast every day, but during the week it's cold cereal, fruit, and juice. Once in a while on Sundays, I splurge and have a nice, big, hot breakfast. I just finished 4 eggo waffles, two eggs, and six pieces of bacon. Feelin' fat and happy! Does anyone else go all out for a weekend breakfast? What do you like to make?

The Ben Roethlisbeger deal is just another example of the ludicrous nature of people not wearing helmets riding a motorcycle. Its time to mandate it. You will not avoid an accident. Chances are good you will take a dive at some point. The pavement is hard. Its harder than just about anything else you can think of. Maybe it doesn't look cool. But neither does an egg splattered across the pavement.

What an intresting month, General Motors has a less than stellar month thanks to idot UAW workers striking, high gas prices and market heading towards the $h!ter. Toyota manages to push more ugly vanila Camry's than last May. My sons boss took his 2006 Ford F-150 Super Crew FX4 and traded it on a 2008 Honda Accord EX 4cyl. Sedan, lost his ass on the sweet red truck I know. (I can't fault him for getting a Honda my son said to him as long as it isn't a Toyota Ken (which it is not) I wish you the best of luck with it!) So let the rant begin. I can't believe the number of Prius's that keep poping up in my town. Those ugly little most likely slow moving "gr…

The rules of this thread...we need to name as many cars that we personally are crazy about that no one else at C and G is wild about. people may like them okay or hate them... but we need to find as many cars, oddball or not, that we are the only people who are nuts about them. Here is my list- I love the 1953 Ford, last of the Flatheads, and even paced the Indy 500 that year. I've ALWAYS wanted one of these since I was a kid, but have never had the chance to own one... http://www.chicagoclassiccars.com/inventory_show.asp?stknum=3334 71-72 Ford LTD ragtop...I think Moltie likes these, but he and I are probably the only ones... http://www.chicagoclassiccars.com/inv…

Okay, here's the situation: There's a local used car dealer that specializes in your run-of-the-mill used cars that have some age and miles under their belts and nothing but. However, there's a car on that lot that has caught my eye and I'm now seriously considering it. The car is a 1995 to 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora with the four-point-oh liter V8, painted a stunning Jade Green, and with just about every option you'd want. I have no clue as to the milage the car has, or if there is any problems, but I'm going to check this car out again. I really, really like it. The car isn't rear-drive like I like, but it has the V8 and it's a trade-off I'm willing to make. And that'…

Our usual comparos and dream garage threads typically center around sport sedans and super cars, but these heavy hitters are exciting in their own right. One has been around a while now and is a familiar face- the Bentley Continental GT. The other is a newcomer- the S63 AMG, in drop top form in this case. C&D got the two together for a shootout recently, and I thought this would make for a fun 'WYR' thread. Here's the link- C&D: Bentley Conti GTC vs MB S63 AMG Cab So, which you rather have- Bentley Conti GTC V8 or MB S63 AMG Cabriolet

My wife's birthday is coming up and she asked me if I would either get a tattoo (Symbol of Chaos) on my bicep, or a nipple ring, I'm leaning towards the nipple ring as this will not leave a permanent mark on my body. I know there will be some blood with the piercing but I don't know what kind of pain to expect, can anyone else give some guidance on this aspect of it? The things you do for those you love.

Last night, I was over looking around at the Cadillac/Chevrolet dealership in Coldwater, and there was a used Seville SLS next to a used STS V6. It is just unbelieveable how far GM's interiors have come in just one generation of its products. Those who haven't compared the then and nows obviously need to take this little factor into consideration. However, I would prefer real aluminum trim in the top level STS's over the real would. The metal looks more modern (to me, at least). Might have done a poll, but don't know how yet, or didn't notice. So, what do you think? Seville Interior STS Interior

So, you've created automotive life in the other thread, lets perform some automotive abortions. Hummer H2-I hate them and the people who drive them. Tools. Pontiac Grand Prix-Its ugly, handles poorly AND has a cheap interior with almost no back seat room. Why bother? Saturn Relay-How many minivans does GM need? The Terraza is somewhat more upscale, so one of the other three has to go. Chevy is the "Full line" brand and Pontiac deserves the SV6, so the Relay goes bye-bye. Chevrolet Monte Carlo-Do people still buy these? FWD coupes are dead and if they make it RWD then there is no need for a Camaro and since you're all Camaro humpers, I s…

As car ethusiasts, have any of you ever felt bad for a car? Here's my little story: Me and a friend went to this junkyard back in the fall to get a new HVAC control module (or whatever it's called) for my Dodge Shadow cuz the original one overheated. They had a few SHadows there, so that's why we chose that place. Sometime in January the wiring harness connector overheated again, melting the module again, but money has been very tight lately, so we were stuck without heat until last moneth. Last month, some other friends and I went to the same yard to get the same part (plus a new wiring harness, turns out corrosion on the harness caused the meltdown). Some of the Shadow…

Yes, that's a Sabbath reference. Here's one change I made just 15 minutes ago. HD Radio is the shit. Camino and I floated the idea of a C&G-sponsored meet at the All-GM Nationals show in Carlisle, PA a couple of years ago that never got out of the planning stages. That idea, at least with me, is still on the back burner and I may try to do something for the 2010 show. But moving on... The AACA Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania is a great place to visit and the GM Futurliner will be on display there starting mid-October and lasting until early Spring. Seeing as how the winter weather in the northeast prohibits car shows from happening, maybe a C&G meet at the AACA Museum would be a good way for some C&G members to meet, take a tour of the museum, have lunch…

lease is up early fall. I'm thinking about what i want to replace the 500 with. either a people mover, basic sedan, or a sporty vehicle. It would be nice to have an AWD vehicle. Ford has an advantage for me for a few reasons. Dealer is excellent - one price, 2 miles away and its convenient for service and shuttles, even if the car is super reliable. I like Sync. My last 3 fords have been completely reliable and dependable. that said, i am not closing the door on something else. Price and mpg will likely matter and chances are good I will lease again. There is a chance I may just buy a used car too. in fact, the economy the way it is, gas prices, we could …

After spending a little time thinking about what the new GM is going to be like, it looks like I will always be out of luck looking for something from them. I'm now down to exactly one brand that I'd even consider generally speaking. That would be Chevy. Even there, the chances that they will build something I would want don't look good. I want a GTO-sized sport coupe/convertible, or a ute, or a wagon, with RWD and a V8 and a manual trans. Yeah, the Camaro comes close - but I want something more individual, and Chevy isn't about that these days. So I'm stuck with the very slim possibility of the VE Ute making a return as an El Camino (or GMC variant, I guess). …

I'm not even going to pretend the car is salvagable. I was going about 50ish in a 55 into a left curve, the car got away from me (not entirely sure how) and I went off the road, cartwheeled through an embankment, the car ended up on the passenger side in a field. I shut the car off and crawled out through the sunroof, then ran around looking for my phone. The woman who was in front of me turned around, when I saw her up on the road (a good 20 feet above my head) I could see her jaw had just dropped. She called 911, I found my phone in the grass and called work (I was on a delivery) my girlfriend and my insurance agent. A doctor happened to be driving by and she let m…

My pics of what I no longer see on the road: 1. Buick Riviera. Yeah, I know I'm the small car fan here at C&G but for some reason I've always lusted after the Riv. My venerable BlackBerry is just not cutting it anymore, So I'd like to get something new. I'm not attached to one OS or brand, though I do find the Nokia 920 to be very compelling, as well as the Galaxy Note 2, But it doesn't matter, whether it's a Samsung, Motorola, Apple or HTC, I'm all ears. I'll be using this phone for a lot of live-tweeting, quick in-a-pinch photography for blogging/publishing and as a modem for my tablet and laptop. So LTE is a necessity as is good battery life (hard to get both, usually) What phones do C&G'ers use and why do they like them? Any recommendations?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/8299079.stm What happened to global warming? By Paul Hudson Climate correspondent, BBC News Average temperatures have not increased for over a decade This headline may come as a bit of a surprise, so too might that fact that the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998. But it is true. For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures. And our climate models did not forecast it, even though man-made carbon dioxide, the gas thought to be responsible for warming our planet, has continued to rise. So what on Earth is going on? Climate change sceptics, who passi…

Top 10 recently canceled vehicles that should be brought back. We're going to get a poll going on this, but first we need some candidate submissions. Here are the rules: Each person can submit ONE vehicle (or vehicle model line if there are multiple body styles) It has to be from a brand that is still in business today (it can't be brought back if there aren't dealers to sell it at) It must be from within the past 10 model years. Include your submission and an explanation of why you think it should be brought back and why it should not have been canceled in the first place. I got this idea after seeing three in a row of a vehicle that will likely be my submission..…

Okay, here's what I need/want, followed by the reasons: I need a quiet, comfortable ride. After a loud day with students, I really enjoy a bit of solitude in my car. I love road trips and will be commuting a bit, so comfort is necessary. I'm tall, so leg room needs to be adequate in the front seat. I don't need the most-intense stereo, but quality of the sound is important. I feel any stereo in the Buick, Chevy or Saturn would meet my needs, and the Accord's stereo I've heard and it's sufficient for my needs. 2007 LaCrosse CXL: The LaCrosse would allow me to have a quiet, smooth ride, conservative looks and a nice build quality. I'm not asking if you hold yourself back in terms of what you can accomplish. Instead, either online or in person, do you hold back part of your personality or thoughts or views? In other words, do people experience the _complete_ you? If you hold back ... why? Is your opinion not popular? Is a passion of yours "too weird"? Do you feel like an outcast ... or that you don't belong? If you don't hold back ... have you always been this way ... or did you experience a change that made you decide to "throw caution to the wind" and let people see the complete you? OR ... are you like me ... a mixture of the two, depending on the people and situation? Cort:33swm."Mr Mon…

I can't recall the last time I've seen so much snow on the ground! We got hit with another 6 inches of snow this morning, and a big Nor'easter is taking aim at us for Wednesday. But between now and then we're supposed to be getting the coldest weather we've seen in years here. Sunday highs will only make it to 16 and lows will be -16 or colder! It's a frozen, if pretty wasteland out there. Now I know what it's like for FapTurbo in July. Got prepared for this and bought some Iso-Heet for the cars on active duty and Marine Sta-bil (red stuff is junk) for the hibernating Intrepid. So how's the weather in your neck of the woods?

This is a public service announcement. http://www.tundrasolutions.com/forums/tund...ures-i-am-club/ By the time you reach this link, it may be dead. In some cases, I've had to go to the website directly and then nagivate down. There is another Tundra storm abrewing. And it's not looking good for Toyota. Is the liftgate really considered another door by Toyota? Should anyone be able to use their truck to haul ATVs? Could someone get hurt from this? As one of the owners experiencing this problem stated, we need to let everyone know.

As I'm sure you guys know by now, it's been a rough year for me financially. There simply isn't any work. I've hung on about as long as I could, but things have reached the breaking point and I have to get something going. So,this is what I think I'll do tomorrow. The plan is to put all of my vehicles up for sale and withdraw the last driveable one when the time comes. That means I'll end up keeping the Silverado, the wagon, or the Blazer for a bit. I'm thinking of pricing them like this: Blazer - $2,000 (not negotiable) Mothertruck - $4,500 including thousands in new parts Camino + parts Camino + thousands in new parts for resto $4,500 Wagon - $4,500 Jag - $1,500 …

After this week, I am likely going to be in the position of having to find another set of wheels. Yes, I've had plenty of vehicles in my life, but this is different. This time I had no itch for something new. There is no kid-in-a-candy store feeling in me. No yearning for something new. Now it's just a matter of practicality, necessity, that brings me to this point. Under these circumstances, I am not likely to enjoy the process. I have never been in such a situation. I don't want to make a bad choice. Before this, I was thinking out a couple of years to a Gamma crossover, Cruze coupe, new-style Impreza Outback Sport, new-style GM compact pickup... vehicles that …

Hi, my name is Tony. I am a 6 feet 0 inches male. I have black hair and brown eyes. I enjoy long aimless walks, eating at buffets, and relaxing with a close friend or significant other. My favorite foods are cantalope, tacos, and red beans and rice with italian sausage. Today, I went to York, PA and drove some vehicles. I am in another car buying mood, as some of yous have gleaned from my rambling. So without further ado... 2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek manual, blue with tan cloth Drives nice, easy shifting manual, excessive engine noise at highway cruise speed, and road noise on a coarse section of 4-lane blacktop. I kept trying to upshift, but I was already in high gear. Weak stereo. Nice high hip point for excellent vision. $23k. Ride is stiffer than my Patriot if you can believe that. It's well-sprung. Spoke to sales guy about my dislike for CVTs. He says people actually like them, but when pressed, he wouldn't cough up any na…

I think I may have written an estimate yesterday for one of Nos' aunts. Her last name: "Purvee". The first 3 letters in her license plate: "EWE". I once had a regular customer at my job in MD with the name "Lucius Butt". Do you know, or have you heard of any real people with embarrassing names?

I finished my Christmas shopping at the Phesant Lane Mall in Nashua, New Hampshire at about 6:30pm on Friday. Left the mall in the Datsun, pulled out onto Daniel Webster Highway a few minutes later at a green light & put on my left blinker. I'm just about to turn, having yielded to a few cars leaving the Costco across the street, but just as I start rolling at about 15mph I slam on my brakes because I realise that one car in particular is not stopping at the red, in fact a set of HIDs is headed for me at a very scarry rate. I had about 1.5 seconds to react, I pull back in my seat and push the shifter into neutral, for a split second I think, …

Okay......thought I'd get the C&G's team's feedback on this interesting topic (well interesting to me at least.) I get $h! all the time from my friends because I'm 38 and I always end up dating guys in their mid-20's. I'm always asked....."Why don't you date guys your age or older?" So I've been thinking about it alot.....and I don't have an answer. It just seems that the guys I'm attracted to and end up falling emotionally for tend to be somewhere around 10-12 years younger than me. Before the "Daddy Complex" jokes start......LOL.....it's not that at all. I've always looked to my boyfriends, or guys I'm dating, as equals in our relationship.…

Hey gang, I just want to say good-bye. What's it been 5, 6 maybe 7 years now that I've been known as AH-HA. Not a bad run for keeping an identity a secret. Well, those days are over. My name is Joe Langley and I'm an analyst with CSM Worldwide. Before that I had my own automotive information and research consulting practice and before that I worked for Standard & Poor's DRI as an auto analyst. I've had a lot fun over the years sharing my enthusiasm for this indsutry and cars in general. I've also been fortunate enough to exchange messages with a lot of great people over the years. I'm going to miss sharing in the conversations and I'm sorry see what has hap…

You really are... especially when I you find out what this thread is going to be about. It's something that's been argued about, questioned, and casually talked about it... many, many times. It has been close to the point where it would be solved, yet after 6 car-sick months... It is again time for me to talk about what to get. Yes, even after I argued that I didn't want advice on what to get when I didn't ask for it. Well, I'm not really asking about it... The day has finally arrived... tomorrow, Saturday May 19 is the infamous skyroadster.com (and sister Solstice site) Mecca Tour to the Wilmington, Delaware Kappa plant. Believe it or not, it was posted on skyroadster.com today that this will be the first tour EVER in the Wilmington plant. Approximately 200 lucky SKY, Solstice, RL and GXP owners and their guests will be given the opportunity to get a one and a half hour tour of the plant, lunch in the employee cafeteria (courtesy of GM), give-aways from Pontiac & Saturn, a small car show by the Kappa owners on property, display trucks by both Pontiac & Saturn, and the chance to bid on some unique GM items to raise…

If you've cut back due to this economy, what have you done? Me? Went from a 3 vehicle household to a 1 vehicle household. Became a massive coupon clipper. Began regularly baking my own bread. Doesn't save me a lot of dough (har har) but it's enjoyable, relaxing, and my bread is way better than what you can buy at most stores. If I don't need it in the next 7 days, I don't buy it. Funny thing is, I don't even need to cut back. My income has actually increased over the past 12-18 months. I just enjoy the challenge and my savings is looking great because of it.

Let me first off say gm4life has been talking about another car since last fall, a pre-owned edition to my fleet. I have taken many peoples advice including BV (scary) and I know I AM NOT getting an Aveo5 or G3. With that off my chest, I went to take my FIRST test drive tonight the story is interesting... First let me say actually my wife is the one who discovered the vehicle I drove tonight, not me or my son. Very odd indeed and she was the one pushing to go see it because she is the one who saw it for sale not my son or I. The car drove well but is in need of new front brakes, and other than that it is very clean besides a few rock chips and one very small dent. The i…

If tasked to choose a single car from the year you were born, what would you choose? For me, 1988 is an interesting year. With its arrival, the U.S. saw the first George Bush become president, while George Micheal ended the year with the best selling album and number one single. The Young and the Restless began its streak as the number 1 daytime drama in television as Rain Man finished the year as the highest grossing film. It is also the year in which Enzo Ferrari passed away, singers Adele and Rihanna were born, and Sega introduced its Mega-Drive (later called the Genesis in the U.S.). Going back to the automotive industry, Volkswagen closed its Westmoreland pla…

So I finally got a cell phone. This now makes me no longer practically unreachable. I can't count the numerous times where not having one made hanging out with friends or such that much harder, with most of my friends living a good 20 miles away. And with my home phone line always being busy and me not being home all that much in the first place, it was difficult. Not any more. I may not get any service here at home, but a quick walk/drive up to the top of the hill and I suddenly have full bars, haha. I guess it'll be good exercise.

Fullsize P/U Comparison: Toyota vs. Chevy vs. Nissan The 2007 Nissan Titan takes 3rd place in this group, though three years ago it placed 1st in its class with ease. With the introduction of the all-new Silverado and Tundra, the game has simply moved on, and the Titan's traditional character is cast in a harsher light. It has neither the capability of the Tundra nor the comfort of the Silverado, and the road manners of neither. It's not that the Titan is bad — it's that the other two are so good. The fact that the Titan's range of configurations isn't up to par with the others did not play into our scoring, but is a reality it must contend with in the marketplace. I…

Basically, our attitude and unwritten rule here is that front-drive cars are throwaways, while rear-drive is the greatest thing since sliced bread. But let's flip it for a second. I'm sure plenty of us can think of front-drive cars that are absolute jewels to drive and own for a lifetime, while there are plenty of cars that may put power to the rear wheels, but are complete wastes of road. So let's name some off... The only rules: -If it's already been named, don't put it on your own list (this keeps the clutter down) -All entries are open to dispute (e.g. "You can always swap that V-6 out of that Mustang and slip in a 351 for the dragstrip&qu…

C&D just wrapped up another instrumented test, this time on the A8L. The A8L 4.0T Sport, to be exact. As it mentions in the article, the A8 sits in an interesting spot in the marketplace. AWD only, but still much cheaper than some rivals, it nevertheless has compelling performance and luxury. Here's the test for those interested- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-audi-a8l-40t-sport-test-review As always, you will have from 10% below base price to 10% over as-tested price to spend on a similar-ish new vehicle.
