My apparent stupidity has taken the life of one unsuspecting Jetta. I was on my way to work this morning and I ended up totaling my car. I wasn't rushing or in a hurry, I was on time. The roads weren't any worse than what has been regular this winter, from my perspective. I drive this same road every day on my way to work. I left around 8:40 am. I came upon this one sharp curve and I oddly misjudged it for the conditions and traveled around it a bit too fast, causing my front tires to slide. By then, I noticed a snow plow coming the opposite direction as I exited the turn, but I kept sliding towards the center of the road. There wasn't anywhere for him to go and I was …

I closed on my new house today. All went pretty smoothly. Only 20 miles from my current house, but bigger, one story, much more storage and garage space, almost 2 acres. I’ll be busy the next month or so moving in and then putting my current house up for sale. Icky weather today though. 34 and sleet.

Haven't seen much memorable in the last week. Looking forward to Spring, this winter weather is hanging around too long...33 and flurries today. Saw a gold Chevy Express panel van with the license plate 'I DO HVAC'...clever call out to their occupation, presumably. Also saw a late model silver Subaru Impreza with lot of surface rust on the hood...odd.

By Buck Wolf Men of the world, rejoice! The average length of an erect penis is shorter than you probably think. A study by Lifestyles Condom Co. shows that the average length of a male sex organ is 5.877 inches — which might comfort men who previously thought they were less than average. "The Kinsey Sex Report and other penis size surveys have indicated that the length of the penis is 6.2 to 6.4 inches," says Simon Joseph, a spokesman for Lifestyles. "Our results show that about three-quarters of men fall under the average quoted by Kinsey." "A half-inch or less might not have anything to do with how you perform sexually, but it might make a difference in how you fee…

We finally found a trailer to haul the Jetta to my house so I can actually do something with it. After a $110 tow bill (I'm just happy they didn't charge me for having it sit there for over a month), we loaded it up and brought it home. I've been able to look it over and see what's good and what's not. The biggest thing, the engine looks good. The transmission looks fine, as well, but the gear indicator is saying it's in drive, no matter what you put it in, which prevents me from being able to start it up. Same with the cooling fans that are shoved inward. We disassembled it somewhat (with the help of a sawzall) and it doesn't look that bad up front besides, you know, the…

I was watching a preview of Transformers 2 and I noticed how much I really liked the Volt. I figured I would make a topic and see how many people plan to buy the Volt at some point in time. I think it's a sharp looking car for an electric car, and I will probably eventually buy one once the price eventually gets affordable if it ever does.

I really do. Wednesday and Thursday, I was thoroughly enjoying New York City. It was quite a spontaneous trip. Before Monday, I was just planning on my usual "ass sitting exercises". A friend of mine asked me to go and was going to pay my way. How could I refuse? Come Tuesday night, I got picked up to be ready for our flight in the morning. By 11 am Wednesday, I was in the city and would be there until 9 pm Thursday. It didn't give me much time for sight seeing, as he was mainly there to look for an apartment, but I got to enjoy Times Square and the surrounding area. The rest, I would simply call experiences rather than enjoyment. Like the Subway, the poorer sections o…

The fine folks over at C&D just got a piece on the new M4 Comp Pkg up- C&D M4 Compt Pkg Test Almost 90K for a coupe built off base sport/lux sedan bones seems steep, even for an admitted BMW fan such as myself. So let's see what you gents make of this scenario. Base price is $74,845, but as-tested was $89,995. So let's use a range of $75,000-90,000. Rules are as follows- 1) Must be a 2 door performance coupe of some kind. 2) Must be a new 2016-17 MY car on sale now. 3) MSRP MUST be AT LEAST $75,000, but NO MORE THAN $90,000.

6. Sentra (new one) 5. Corolla 4. Elantra 3. Civic 2. Mazda3 1. VW Rabbit They seemed to have issues with the new Sentra. Of course they didn't like the Corolla because its spongy. They praised the Elantra as being spacious and a good commuter but its a flopper. The Civic is an acquired taste. the Mazda is a good car but it didn't win because of red dash lights. The Rabbit is the best overall. All models tested had sticks. They claimed that no Focus or Cobalt with stick was available to test.

OK, I've about had it. I never have time or a big budget for a personal stylist so I always end up going to the less expensive walk in places for a hair cut. And as much as I try to establish a relationship with ONE person who gets to know my hair and the way I want it, its inevitable. New person every time. I thought I had one...she was so sweet and cut my hair beautifully. Then, I think she got married and quit her job. I'm hurt. She left me. Now i had to get my hair cut by someone new. Different cut every time. And its never a great style. I guess that's what I get when you gotta go cheap and easy. Its like trying to find a long term relationship vs. sl…

I was sitting a red light today when a car slammed into me, pushing me into a van in front. I didn't hear any kind of skidding, and the woman that hit me didn't even look flustered or sorry. Here are some pictures of her handiwork; the insurance adjuster on the phone said it sounded borderline total loss. It's hard to see in the pics, but the actual metal bumper is pushed in pretty far. The back is awful, and the front also has some minor damage. So what do you think? Is this car repairable in any reasonable budget?

So I just found out that Brittany's been cheating on her boyfriend with me and I didn't know it until I messaged the dude on myspace about a half hour ago. She said they were really good friends and then he told me to call him because he had to find out what was going on. Come to find out they've been going out for 8 months and she's been with him everytime she says she's going to the mall or something. I'm so sick to my stomach. Upon checking out a few Lucernes, I finally began to realize something. My Millenia rocks. Now, first off, let's ignore the obvious.. The Lucerne is a much bigger car, so things related to that, are not being compared. Also, being that my Millenia is not a top of the line model, but loaded otherwise. I compared it to a Lucerne that also wasn't top of the line, but loaded as well. Essentially the best you can get without the Northstar V8, the V6 CXL. Back in the day, my Millenia had an MSRP of $28,895 while the MSRP of a Lucerne CXL V6 is $29,280. A Millenia is similar in size to large Buicks of 1995, but still just midsize. Millenias were first built back in 93 as 94 m…

After my disillusionment with the dealership business it's actualy nice to 'work' for a living. I did a couple hours of orientation and then they threw me right out there. For the first time in my life I'm a member of a union, and I feel like I really could stay at this job for a long time. I better stay with it, I'm tired of bouncing around... The only bad experience of the day was I sliced open my knuckle on my right hand. CROSSOVERS 1 2

Crossovers, one of the most lucrative and busting new segments ever. Automakers are rushing to fill their lineups with all sorts of them. Size, price, etc. They are starting to establish their own design type. They are replacing fuel sucking BOF SUV's. The big wave is just starting, yet, I am now tired of them all. Is this a fad? Or will most vehicles sold in the future be crossovers? How do you feel? I'm already kinda sick of them.

Yes my friends, I'm sad to write that my beloved Saturn SKY was the unfortunate punching bag of a silver 2000 Monte Carlo this past Saturday afternoon. Long story short, I was in the right lane, the MC (out-of-state driver -- Ohio) was in the middle lane, she thought she was passing her hotel and decided to just turn right into me. I tried to swerve so she'd miss me, but instead of breaking she hit the gas and plowed into my driver's door, the driver's rear fender, small portion of the left rear bumper and damaged the chrome rim (and tire damage b/c the plastic inner fender is now scraping the tire). Very pissed, but was surprised b/c the wife jumped out of the car rea…

The 'What If...?' discussion got me thinking about how international things are becoming and just how quickly they are becoming that way. I can perhaps understand the need to captively import and rebadge a Daewoo as a subcompact or a European Focus as we just get lazy in this country. But when I read and hear about how "global concerns" may just end up seriously dictiating how large our midsize and fullsize cars will be, I get irritated. I have to wonder...am I the only one that's going to lament the passing of truly American-exclusive cars? Cars like... For years it seems we've had to bend to the will of foreigners. The original 300M's rear was chopped because …

Razorba - the shaver for backs! December 13, 2005 Stand in front of the mirror when you get up tomorrow morning and you’ll notice more than a few reminders that man descended from the apes – an unhealthy disposition when threatened and a liberal sprinkling of hair are the most obvious. Males of the species range from growing hair on their heads to hair all over their body and personal grooming preferences often necessitate shaving some or all of this hair regularly. We’ve already covered the shaver designed specifically for shaving heads, and now there’s an equally ingenious shaving accessory for shaving your back – until now, everybody has had to employ the indulgence…

Since no one has given me a straight answer in other threads I'll make a thread just for the question. Someone please tell me how a FWD Impala is anymore efficient than a RWD? Is is it cost effective if a new FWD platform must be engineered for it, unless they place to use the G-Bodies or bring the W-Bodies back for yet another round? All I know is the cancellation the Impala really irritates me, far more so than any other things I've heard recently, including Chinese Dodge subcompacts. My (rather safe) predictions: Republicans: Romney has a strong showing in MA and UT, McCain squeaks by him in the rest of the states. Ron Paul comes in a pretty respectable third, drops out of the Republican race, waits a bit, then announces he is running as a third party candidate (he ran as a Libertarian in '88) and becomes the first semi-viable third party candidate since Perot in '92. Democrats: More of the sam…

I cut up a potato tonight into french fries. I patted it dry with paper towels while I heated up some Smart Balance oil (a mix of canola, soybean and olive oils). When the oil shimmered in the pan on medium heat, I threw them in. When they appeared nice and brown, I took them out and drained them on more paper towels. For the first few seconds, they were stiff and crispy, but they quickly got limp. I hate limp fries. Can anyone tell me how to make a homemade french fry that is crispy? Thanks in advance.

It really hasn't been mentioned very much...or at all, but there seems to be absoulutely no closure as to wheter or not either company activley helped the Nazis. Critics say they knew and willingly helped build tanks and aircraft and whatnot, but the companies themselves say the Nazis wrested control of the factories away from them. Believe me, there's nothing that I'd rather believe more than that Ford and GM actually did have their plants taken over, but with all the criticism I found online, the whole thing gets a bit fuzzy. So I guess let's try to get some closure on this topic.

I have been so disgusted by the garbage coming from both major parties (even here in our own political threads), that I believe that I will most likely return to my long-established pattern of voting Libertarian this year. Last time I voted for Kerry (whom I don't like) just because I felt that "W" was such a rotten SOB that we needed to be rid of him at all costs - it was the only time that I have ever voted major party. I just feel that all rationality has evaporated in the shrill partisan bleatings from the dems and the repubs, which leaves me hating the idea of endorsing either with my vote. Not yet an absolute decision, but very, very, close.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston resident Kelli Davis was in for a surprise when her daughter brought home some routine paperwork at the start of school this fall. Davis signed the form and then handed it to her daughter for the eighth-grader's signature. "I just assumed she knew how to do it, but I have a piece of paper with her signature on it and it looks like a little kid's signature," Davis said. Her daughter was apologetic, but explained that she hadn't been required to make the graceful loops and joined letters of cursive writing in years. That prompted a call to the school and another surprise. West Virginia's largest school system teaches cursive, but only in…

I have been all over the web in the last few hours and there isn't much out there right now. So, keep your eyes open - I'm looking for some help and all leads are appreciated.

This is the '76 Monte Carlo my dad is considering to buy. The car is totally rust-free and only needs some mild interior work. The cost is four grand, but my dad says the owner seems to be flexible on the price up to one grand. Thoughts? And a big thank you to Cort for giving me that link!

I don't like: That dead fluffy animal carcass on his head that he tries to pass for hair. The way he thinks he can act on television, but its very obvious that he can't. The way his mouth moves when he speaks (See above) makes me wanna deck him right in the mouth. His grating, wheezy, irritating voice. The poster boy for everything wrong with corporate America How many times has he been married again? He's a phucking philanderer (see above. his new wife better keep some serious tabs on him) Did I mention that annoying way his mouth moves when he tries to act and speak at he same time? GAWD I wanna deck that bastard.

Here are a few notes to customers of cellular providers of the great ol' US of A. I will edit/change these as necessary as I find a means to vent here every night instead of the bottom of a Bud Light bottle. 1) If Customer Service tells you something, it's probably not true at all. 2). If Customer Service directs you to your local carriers store for an insurance claim, its NEVER true. 3) Just because Customer Service tells you that you are eligible for instant savings on a new handset at your nearest local store, chances are you infact are not eligible for SHIT! 4) Do not take it out on us poor reps, as we are not the people that make sensative policy decisio…

I just have to announce that I am sick and tired of finding TRASH in my mailbox from the Obama campaign. It's been coming almost DAILY. Think of how much this $h! is stacking up in our landfills... what a waste of resources and energy, and stupid-ass Obama wants to talk out the other side of his mouth and demand that CAFE go to a ricockulous 60 mpg. What kind of effed-up dream world is this guy living in?.

...giving a $h! anymore. About GM Hell, about the country itself. It all just seems so hoplessly wrong, and determined to become even moreso. The popular "visions" for the future that are bandied about are anathema to me. I'm starting to become very, very, angry. I'm not loving the time we live in at all. And it has almost nothing to do with the economy either. So, what to do?

I understand the concept that everyone gets to choose what they really love to drive... But it blows my mind that so many people, working at GM for many years, choose from the dark side. Of course, if YOU were scooping up a nice GM check and benefits, ya think you could find ONE vehicle in the GM stable to drive to work??? At the Tech Center in Warren, they have designated parking decks in which only vehicles of the GM family can park. The other guys have to park aways out, and brave the elements to trudge all the to the bldg. Some losers drive crappy ricers and park close anyway, where they shouldn't. One guy drives a hOnDa eLeMenT with the gray plastic everywher…

This car is killing me.... This is why you should never help family out (by buying one of the cars)... I took it to the dealership and found some stuff out: - My slow to shift trans (only when cold) is common on the year of my Balt for some reason (2006) - That even though the brakes were strange (pedal), they were fine. Part that surprised the heck out of me: all FOUR steelies are bent- two pretty good. Now, the ride issue it has I thought was due to the fact that it is due for tires, but I wasn't expecting that....how does that happen, anyways? I didn't realize that there was that many potholes around here... Now I expected a few issues...but wow, this is…

So yeah... after all the years of joking and making fun of Frank for popping his collar, I finally feel bad for it since I see the logic in it. You see... popped collars not only keep youre neck warm... they hide hickeys well. Ah... for those nonexistant few that noticed my own nonexistance this weekend, it was because I travelled down to Somerset, Pa to meet a cool boy I've been chatting with. For having only chatted with him online, I unusually liked him alot. So, in my search for love and wanting to finally be in a relationship with a guy, I went down to meet him. Needless to say, we hit it off pretty well, as I had hoped. We're very similar and get along great. So …

Marcia has never gotten over me cheating on her in 2002. It was a mistake, we were not togeather in the official, formal sense but we were still living togeather and it was a stupid mistake on my part. In the past few weeks our relationship has come to a gridning halt. You might say it smacked into an iceberg and we're sinking... Sofia of course is the real victim & there's a lot of anger, hatred, mixed emotion & confusion between us in this huge emotional divide. Last night, I made what might become the most beautiful "mistakes" of my life when I met up and went on a informal date with a girl I met through the internet. There's so much more…

Just about 2 years ago I bought an HP Photosmart945 digital camera (about $500). It has been used lightly and always kept in its original styrofoam packaging. Well, a few weeks ago it just decided to stop working. So, I went through all of the troubleshooting procedures and ran the camera's own diagnostic tests all to no avail. I then went online and tried all of the HP suggestions there - no dice. Then, I go online with an HP tech in a live chat - we try everything without luck. Now, after investing about 3 hours of my day on this, the result is: 1) it's out of warranty 2) HP doesn't repair their cameras 3) my only options are an "upgrade" from HP of my choice of severa…

With things looking rough, everybody is looking for ways to cut back. At this point, even our cars will be affected... I've started a few things.... Cheaper oil and air filters (gotta love private brands-both are made by Wix) Changing my own brakes and rotors (something I have not tried yet) I got lucky and found some good deals on wax (mothers) to clean them up. I'm trying hard not to cheap out on the cars....gotta shop smarter. Is there anything you guys are doing on cutting back?

With GM's recent search campain to find the longest lasting trucks on the road, but excluding cars and obviously other makes, it left some of us dissapointed. Obviously it's not the same, but I figured why not show off you're car's reliablity to your fellow C & G members? It's fun if nothing else. If at all possible, provide some pics of your car, including of the odometer. This qualifies mainly for cars that still run, and perferable still are owned by you, but if you have a past car with more miles than whatyou currently have, that is acceptible too Enjoy! I'll post my car tomorrow when I can take some pics (kinda dark right now, plus I'm going to bed). Fun idea.…

Interiors are one of the bigger determinants of perception. Someone gets in an interior that impresses them and they think they are in a car made to higher standards, or a more expensive car. In GM's case, the interiors are REALLY far behind the competition. It's a glaring ommission that really adds to the perception that there cars are inferior. That being said, the purpose of this thread is not to harp, but to introduce ideas for GM. What are the interior designs you really like from around the world? What interior themes do you feel are appropriate for each of GM's brands. In a perfect world, GM will have interiors that represent what each brand stands for, and the…

Since I started working I've been trying to get to bed a decent time so I can get 7-8 hours of sleep, be up at 6:30 so I can be well rested and ready for work at 8. That means going to bed at 10 or 11. Well it's 12:38am right now so you can see where this is going. Last week I did pretty well. However by nature I'm a night owl, and unfortunately I haven't been able to get to sleep this week until 1 or 2am. Well it finally caught with me and I fell asleep as soon as I got him untl 10:30. So Now I've had about 6 hours of sleep and I'm awake again. meh... What are your sleeping habits like?

I like to visit other places so tell me about where you live, are you in a town or city? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hockessin,_Delaware As you can see it's not a major city, in fact it's not even a town, it's just suburbia. I'm always having a new one every month it seems. Instead of dragging things out though, I'm going to cut to the chase here: I currently have a 1984 15th Anniversary Recaro Trans Am on the line. In exchange I'll have to hand over the Camaro for it, it's a dead-even swap. While the Trans Am is far from being perfect, it is 100 percent complete, 98 percent rust free, and in everyday driver status; it just needs the interior refreshed in a few places (headliner, sailpanel fabric, carpet, and the outer seats, typical minor ess-ayche-eye-tee), a new starter (the current one works but it's a bit stubborn), and the paint refreshed (you can get away without repainting it). The T/…

That is a CD of mine. I'm not sure how it got like that. I hope it's repairable. It plays... sort of. The first half of the CD endlessly skips, jumps, etc. Only my computer actually plays it. The second half sounds unscathed for the most part. I'd like to atleast rip this CD onto my pc so I could make a new copy of it. I just wonder if I can repair it enough to be able to do that, atleast. Any suggestions?
