So has anyone got any idea of the font featured on the 2010 Camaro on the body or on the Chevy website? It is a Camaro logo with squared off letters. They use it on the Camaro5 forums too. But I am not a memeber there and was wondering if any of you smart people have any knowledge of it? Or could share it with me. (Would like it for photochops.)

Whoa, last I heard the new Chevy Trax wasn't going to be out until well after the first of the year. I just checked Build&Price on a lark, and the site is fully up, with detailed pricing and the inventory search is up and running with a plethora of Trax' coming into my area. I want to see one!

Chevrolet had a range of medium-duty trucks (class 4, 5, and 6) known as TopKick up until a decade ago. But today at NTEA The Work Truck Show, Chevrolet is coming back to the segment with a familiar name - Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD, and 6500HD. The overall shape is similar to the Silverado HD, but the medium-duty trucks get a large grille and broad fenders. The models will only be built as chassis cabs with the choice of a regular or crew cab. Under the hood is a 6.6L Duramax turbodiesel V8 paired with an Allison transmission. Power figures stand at 350 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. Before anyone asks, this is slightly different than the Duramax found in…

Since it's dayview, I haven't thought too much of this vehicle. After reading about it in the latest M/T mag I not anymore of a fan than before. What was GM thinking when designing this vehicle? Why the I-5 for one? Why isn't it just based off the Trailblazer with the 4.2? 14cty/19hwy is hardly good milage for a low output I-5 so using that motor for milage is no excuse. It's off road capability's rated well but that's where it stopped. It's slow, underpowered, can only tow 4500lbs for the price of a full size truck or decently equipped Avalanche. $30k base and $38k loaded!

With the 2016 Cruze based on the new D2XX platform with transverse AWD support, one cannot help but wonder if GM should take up the torch Mitsubishi is setting down. Perhaps since Ford said this and not Toyota we can deal with the content rather than the messenger: http://gm-volt.com/2009/02/06/exclusive-fo...d-explains-why/ Combine this with Ford's earlier statement that a battery about the size of the Volt's would cost ~$20K and you can see why the Volt was less "technological leap" and more baby step off the side of a bridge. That's why no one was seriously following. But it is unfortunate that so many were compelled by the PR to "make pretend". I've posted elsewhere how this distraction could has cost the US many billions of gallons of fuel by 2015... and that is if the Volt actually even delivers what has been claimed! G…

Don't know if anyone has seen these, but I thought I'd post them. Here's one of the front that looks like it's from relatively early on: I think I like the headlights here better. Early sketch of the rear: It seems to be a little more round in all areas. Later one of the rear: I'm guessing the production rear will get something similar for the exhuast, and also notice it has a bumper.

Here are the paint layouts for Greg Anderson and Jason Line in NHRA Pro Stock. We should see these cars soon replace the point leading G6 they are using now. Andrson and Line release the new Summit colors at Super Summit South In Georgia last Saturday. The guys are First and Second in points in the NHRA Pro Stock class but will change soon to these new Camaro Pro Stock cars. The Chevy Teams got a lot of what they wanted with a much longer nose and a greater slope in the C pillar and short deck lid. This gives them similar aero numbers and stability the G6 offers now. These changes are part of the reason these cars are so late. These teams also lost some offical su…

Okay I was at the dealer for service and I'm bored so I ask about the cool CC black Silverado 4x4 LTZ. Next thing I'm going down the road. WOW it's an amazing pickup. Smooth, quiet, powerful, and we were getting 21mpg down the highway on 4 pistons. It is a very different truck then the 800's. I have an 03 and I would give that thing up in a NY sec for a new one. But one thing, the sun visors suck. Even my 97 S10 had two flaps, one for the side window. And it really felt cheap, now for $46,000 I just need a better sun visor. I mean this thing had almost every option, I think all it was missing was the locking tailgate. Because the gas peddle moved, it had a sunroof, re…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 3, 2013 General Motors has been hard at work on the North American versions of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon and we know the trucks will be arriving sometime after the new Silverado and Sierra. Now it seems we have a possible timeframe of when these mid-size bruisers will be arriving. The Detroit Free Press recently talked with GM's President of North America, Mark Reuss. Reuss revealed that introduction of the Colorado and Canyon would be timed with the introduction of the next-gen Ford F-150, which is expected to come out around late 2014 or early 2015. “We are going to have a midsize truck that we l…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 28, 2012 Back in 2010, Chevrolet introduced a new ad campaign with the tagline of 'Chevy Runs Deep'. The campaign was designed to emphasize the emotional connect between a person and a vehicle. However the campaign was met with mixed reactions. "I'm not sure that was appropriate for the mainstream market that they're in. They need to create a message that conveys some type of differential advantage, some benefit to the mainstream buyer that the Asians cannot offer," said Polk Automotive analyst Thomas Libby. General Motors and its advertising agency, Commonwealth are weighing whether to keep the campaign or go …

Has this been posted yet? It's the Wide Body Cobalt SS from SEMA. I saw this and amost fell off my seat. WOW. As a child of the 80s I'm a sucker for a sexy wide body car but this is just delicious. This thing is a ricer's wet dream and yet I'm completely infatuated wiht it. Bring protection too... you know a nice set of leather driving gloves!" Chevrolet Cobalt SS Coupe Wide Body Like all Chevy SS vehicles before it, Cobalt SS represents a…

Is the New Camaro More Entertaining to Drive Than a 3 Series? "Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: The Chevrolet Camaro is a better, more entertaining car to drive than a BMW 3 Series. In more than 30 years of testing cars I have experienced several moments of dazzling, crystalline revelation: that the original Mazda Miata was the most sublimely, delicately, intuitively tactile sports car ever built; that underneath the seductive scarlet curves of a Ferrari 348 lurked a sulky, evil-tempered bunny-boiler; and that the Ford Raptor was one of the most original performance vehicle concepts from a mainstream automaker, an entertaining and engaging ride that was also u…

I was just thinking about some of the upcoming and possible future engines in the pipeline, which would be applicable to a 6th gen Camaro. If we assume that a 6th gen is even coming, we can also assume that this car will be smaller and lighter than the 5th gen. Let's call it 180-185" in overall length and 3200 -3500 lbs, depending on equipment. This lower mass opens up all sorts of opportunities for some interesting, fun to drive, and economical combos. Here are some engines off the top of my head: - GDI 2.3L I4, 210-230 hp. - GDI 2.0L turbo I4, 260-300 hp. - GDI 3.0L V6, 255-285 hp. - GDI 2.8L turbo V6, 350 hp. - GDI 3.0/3.6L turbo V6, 400-430 hp. It seems the Chevrolet Bolt concept we saw at Detroit last month is possibly going into production. Reuters has learned from sources that production for the Bolt and sister Opel model will kick off in October 2016 at General Motors' Lake Orion assembly plant. The plant is currently home Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano. Sources say the company is planning to build around 25,000 to 30,000 units per year. As for Bolt itself, it will use GM's Gamma small car platform and will share the same basic set of components as the next-generation Sonic due out in late 2016. Sales will begin in early 2017. A GM spokesman declined to comment on the report. Source: Reuters View f…

This prediction for the Ecotec 2.5T is based on the new 2.5 liter engine announced for the Malibu. This represents a viable direction GM may take with regards to providing V6 equivalent power from a 4-cylinder. The focus is on attaining a power level similar to the high output versions of the 2.0T (LNF), while rendering maximum torque at the lowest possible rpm, maximizing fuel economy and retaining 87 octane compatibility. The solution combines increased compression and displacement with lower boost levels. The new 2.5 liter block is especially suited for this recipe because it has a 88mm bore along with a 96mm bore spacing. The resulting 8mm wall thickness is not partic…

After seeing this picture on Wikipedia, I finally come to understand why the new Aveo hatchback doesn't look right. The lower grille is obscenely large, to a point it makes the car out of balance, but if you look at this Euro version with the front plate, it actually make sense. The front plate hides part of the lower grille, so it makes it looks smaller. Look closely if you see a new Aveo in person, you'll find out that only half of that grille actually has holes. My suggestion is to make it look a bit more like the previous gen 3-door Kalos Sport version (which IMO looks awesome). Put on a front plate holder, then relocate the Chevy badge into the upper grille. M…

Stop me if you have heard this before: Motor Trend is reporting that next Corvette ZR1 is going to a mid-engine layout according to a number of sources. One of the sources follows this up by saying the next-generation Corvette will also go to a mid-engine layout, Now this isn't the first time there have been reports of a mid-engine Corvette. Since the early sixties, reports of Chevrolet doing a mid-engine Corvette have been reported. This is only helped with General Motors showing a number of mid-engine Corvette concepts over the years. So what makes this rumor different from all the other ones? A few items. First is that the next-generation Camaro will utilize the Alph…

Chevrolet previews an SUV coupe designed for the South American market By DAVID HASSALL 4 November 2008 GENERAL Motors last week revealed a BMW X6-style two-door compact SUV concept with a view to production for the emerging South American market. The youth-oriented Chevrolet GPiX crossover coupe concept was produced by GM’s Brazilian design studio, which is being tripled in size at a cost of US$36 million ($53.2 million) to play a bigger role in global development programs. Presented at the Sao Paulo motor show, the Chevrolet concept rides on relatively modest 17-inch wheels and features LED head…

Chevrolet has canceled the Malibu Hybrid for the 2020 model year. What? You forgot they even offered one? It's not surprising. It's tough out there for slow selling sedans these days and the Malibu Hybrid was probably one of the slowest selling of the General's current lineup. The move leaves GM with no full hybrid vehicles at all in the lineup. This comes after the cancellation of the plug-in Chevy Volt earlier this year. The only electrified vehicle, for now, is the diminutive Chevy Bolt. GM is rumored to be working hard on an electric or electrified truck, and has plans to electrify most of the Cadillac lineup, even going so far as to promise the UAW that the L…

Shipping company employee carted off to jail for Corvette SS pics Posted Feb 22nd 2007 6:02PM by John Neff Link to Original Article @ AutoBlog SPY SHOTS! 23 Corvette Blue Devil powertrain mule pics! We've just learned that EMO TRANS, the shipping company that was hired by General Motors to transport a Corvette SS mule to Germany for testing on the Nurburgring, has fired the employee who took pictures of the vehicle and posted them on the internet. In addition, the unnamed employee has been taken to jail, though we don't know what charges have been filed against him. This clearly illustrates how seriously GM is taking the development of the Corvette SS, as well as h…

Corvette production interrupted due to wheel supply issue AutoWeek | Published 12/28/05, 3:25 pm et General Motors has sent a memo to dealers informing them that Corvette wheel supply has “experienced significant disruption” and production of certain models could be delayed as a result. GM says the wheel supply situation has caused it to make “several adjustments affecting wheel options, production volumes and production schedules.” Dealers will have to change Corvette orders based on wheel availability. Wheel company Amcast, which went into bankruptcy on Dec. 2, supplied the wheels. GM says wheel supply is still uncertain, and thus GM’s order fu…

Saleen Camaro a Possibility? Steve Saleen (founder of Saleen Performance, manufacturer of limited edition, high-performance vehicles) in a recent interview with Road and Track Magazine hints that there may very well be a Saleen edition of the upcoming Camaro. Chevy announced the pricing of the upcoming 2024 Traverse, and hold on to your wallets because it just got a lot more expensive to buy a big crossover from the bow tie brand. The 2024 Traverse will start at $39,995 for the base MSRP, an increase of $3,580 over the outgoing 2023 Chevy Traverse LS FWD. What's new for that $3.5k? There is the massive new 17.7-inch infotainment screen, over 10" larger diagonally than the prior units. Plus, there is more power from the 2.5-liter inline-4 with 315 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque, a slight increase over the 310 horsepower of the old V6, but a significant boost over the V6's 266 lb-ft of torque. GM Issues Two Recalls For The Cruze William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 5, 2011 GM has issued two new recalls for their hot-selling Chevrolet Cruze. The first recall has 154,122 Cruzes coming in for an inspection of intermediate steering shaft covers to see if they were installed correctly. This is the second recall issued for the Cruze's steering. Last month, 2,100 Cruzes were recalled after a customer had a steering wheel detach from the steering column. Recall number two is for 120,295 Cruzes equipped with a automatic transmission. The problem stems from an issue where the transmission is in gear, but the vehicle shows it in a anot…

Tahoe puts rush on GM's SUVs March 15, 2006 BY MICHAEL ELLIS FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER Some declared the SUV market dead when gas prices topped $3 a gallon last year, and said General Motors Corp. was foolish to invest billions in a lineup of new large SUVs. But sales of the new Chevrolet Tahoe are so strong that GM is now trying to speed up the launch of several other SUVs and ship them to dealerships two to four weeks ahead of schedule, Mary Sipes, GM's vehicle line director for large trucks, said Tuesday. The Tahoe -- with better fuel economy and added features -- has been on sale only since early January, but sales are up 49.8% from January and February last ye…

If you're currently a Ford Mustang owner or lessee, until the end of October there is $3,000 waiting for you on the hood of any 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. Chevy's Camaro has consistently ranked third in sales behind the Dodge Challenger and Ford Mustang ever since the 6th generation model debuted for 2016. Sales fell further in 2019 after a disastrous redesign of the front fascia on SS trim models, down 7.6% year to date. This despite the greater availability of 4-cylinder models and packages that put the V8 in easier reach. While the Camaro is down 7.6 percent, the Mustang has also fallen 10.1 percent and Challenger is down 11 percent year to date. The Ford and the …

General Motors is planing a range of updates for their full-size trucks starting in the 2021 model year, beginning with updated interiors. Also coming is a Silverado ZRX aimed to take on the likes of the Ford F-150 Raptor and the Ram 1500 Rebel. The ZRX would come with an improved off-road suspension, special DSSV Dampers like on the Colorado ZR2, rear and front locking differentials, and improved approach and departure angles. If Chevy uses the same recipe they did on the ZR2, the ZRX will likely also get unique front and rear fascias. One thing that isn't changing though is the powertrain. It's rumored that the ZRX will continue to use the same 6.2 liter V8 with…

Link to Article One of the most highly anticipated vehicles to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson this year was the first 2010 Chevy Camaro. There are very few instant classics these days, and this is one of them. There's still a month before actual series production of the car is slated to begin, but the winning bidder claimed the right to the very first retail production car that can be ordered in any color and with any options he chooses. Last year, it took exactly one-million dollars to win the hotly contested rights to the first 2009 Corvette ZR1, and this year $350,000 claimed the first edition of the newly-revived Camaro. Just as with last year's ZR1, all pro…

Did A Chevrolet Volt Cause A Garage Fire? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com April 16, 2011 A Chevrolet Volt is under suspicion as the cause of a garage fire in Barkhamsted, Connecticut. The fire which engulfed a garage took 50 firefighters to put out. "I walked outside and looked in the garage door and it was flaming. I grabbed a pocketbook so I'd have a cellphone and a driver's license and a jacket and a pair of slacks. I had no shoes, my feet were freezing," said Dee Connors, owner. Investigators are now working on what caused the fire. Along with the Volt, investigators are also looking at the other electric vehicle in the garage …

Whenever the Corvette plant closes it doors for public tours for a certain amount of time, it usually means some big change is coming to the model. The Bowling Green Daily News reports that starting next month, GM will suspend plant tours for 18 months. National Corvette Museum Marketing and Communications Manager, Katie Frassinelli tells the paper the suspension is for a reconfiguration of the assembly line and a new paint shop. “The new paint shop at the plant has to be tied into the existing assembly line. The old paint shop is on the opposite side of the plant,” said Frassinelli. It should be noted this is the longest time that the plant tour has been …

2012 Chevrolet Corvette Lineup See Their Prices Go Up William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com June 14, 2011 If you have your heart set on new 2012 Chevrolet Corvette, you might want to make sure you have enough money. Corvette Blogger recently went through GM's RPO for the 2012 Corvette and found out prices are going up. The MSRP for most Corvette models goes up anywhere from $480-$1,150. Only one model, the Corvette ZR1 sees a drop in it's MSRP. Yes, its only $75, but hey its still a drop. In addition, prices for the Equipment Group packages are on the up. The 2LT coupe will rise $1,195 to $2,095 while the 3LT coupe jumps from $4,205 to $5,9…

Link: http://www.autoguide.com/manufacturer/chevrolet/2012-chevrolet-orlando-review-1592.html2012 Chevrolet Orlando Review It’s not often that automakers go to the trouble of bringing a car to Canada, but refrain from selling it in the United States. With one tenth the population and different homologation laws than the United States, the costs rarely make it worthwhile for automakers to import unique products to the Canadian market. Typically, the exceptions to the rule are vehicles like the Mercedes-Benz B-Class or Nissan X-Trail – compact utility vehicles that are fuel efficient and priced in the lower end of their segments. With vehicle prices around 30% hi…

Chevrolet has gone a bit crazy with the special editions over the past couple of years with Rally, Redline, and Midnight. Now there is another one in the form of the RST (Rally Sport Truck) for the 2018 Tahoe and Suburban. But this special edition stands out for one reason. Before we get to that reason, let's dive into what the RST package nets you. There is no sign of chrome trim anywhere on the RST. Instead, Chevrolet is using body-color for the door handles and grille surround, and gloss black for other trim pieces. A set of 22-inch alloy wheels come wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler tires. Optional is a Borla exhaust that adds an additional 10 horsepower and more aggr…

Chevrolet Spark Makes Its US Appearance In 2012 William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com August 4, 2011 If you're looking for something smaller than Chevrolet Sonic subcompact in the US, General Motors has the answer coming to you soon. Jason Laird, GM's executive director of North American product communications told Green Car Reports today, the Chevrolet Spark minicar will be coming to the US market next year as a 2013 model. The Spark was originally planned to come to the US in 2011, but with GM declaring bankruptcy in 2009, the date was pushed back a year. Laird tweeted from the Management Briefing Seminar conference in Traverse City, Mic…

If you think the current Chevrolet Silverado has too much brightwork, the 2015 Silverado Custom Sport package might be for you. As a special edition package available on the LT and LTZ models, the Silverado Custom Sport package swaps out the chrome front and rear bumper, and grille surround for body colored versions. Chrome is added to the door handles and side mirrors. You can have any color of Custom Sport you like as long as it is white, black, or white diamond (LTZ only). The package also includes projector beam headlights, tow hooks, and heated mirrors. Chevy says this special edition pays homage to the 1967 Chevrolet Custom Sport that was available with bright trim…

Chevy Tahoe Hybrid wins 2007 Green Car of the Year Link to Original Post @ Autoblog Surprise, Surprise! Founder of Green Car Journal Ron Cogan announced that the third annual Green Car of the Year Award would go to the big GM Hybrid SUV for its innovation in demonstrating that a vehicle with lots of people and cargo hauling capability could still offer fuel economy equivalent to that of a much smaller four-cylinder sedan. Of the five nominees that include the Saturn Aura Green Line, Chevy Malibu Hybrid, Nissan Altima Hybrid and Mazda Tribute Hybrid, GM's Two-Mode Hybrid system is clearly the most innovative.

With the new Ford F-150 selling and Nissan's next-generation Titan just around the corner, the pickup truck market is once again heating up. To get ready for the next onslaught, General Motors is readying a refresh of the full-size trucks. A spy photographer happen to get some shots of the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado. The shots reveal that Chevrolet is planning some changes for the Silverado's front end with a new grille and headlights with LEDs like on the GMC Sierra. Also changing up front is a new hood design. GM is also looking to changing a few body panels to aluminum - the hood and front fenders being the likely ones. Around back, expect new taillights, along with so…

19 owners of the 2006 - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and 427 models have filed a class-action lawsuit against General Motors against an engine issue. The lawsuit says the 7.0L V8 fitted in these models have excessive valve guide wear that leads to engine failures. The suit goes on to say that GM is aware of this problem, but hasn't come up with a solution. According to Law360, General Motors began testing vehicles equipped with the V8 and were able to replicate the problem. The issue is that GM didn't go any further with the tests as it “would lead to more repair and investigations than it wished to perform.” If this suit goes forward, it might lead to lawsuits dea…

You all know GME and Chevy grow closer and closer together. Here's an article from Automotive News that shows just how close. It looks like GM Daewoo is falling under GME's spell. John Revill Automotive News Europe January 21, 06:01 CET General Motors Europe could build Chevrolet cars in Germany and Sweden to meet booming European demand for the brand. GM’s underused factories in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and Trollhättan, Sweden, could begin production of Chevrolet cars within two years, high-level GM sources told Automotive News Europe. Chevrolet aims to double its European sales to 1 million by 2010, Wayne Brannon, head of Chevrolet Europe, told the Financial…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com May 28, 2013 General Motors looks to be copying Ford's playbook with pickups. The company is considering adding niche models to the Chevrolet Silverado lineup. "Ford does a lot with co-branding. I can't comment on anything going forward, but I will say our leadership is very aware of not only the (Ford) Harley-Davidson pickup, but also the Raptor. There are a lot of halo vehicles at Ford. They do sell well and they do set a tone for the vehicle. We definitely are looking into that," said Chris Hilts, manager of creative design for GM's full-size pickup truck interiors. General Motors has introduced the first niche mo…

Just read the new Car and Driver where they had instrumented testing of the CTS V Sport and new Corvette Stingray. Keep in mind that the CTS is several hundred pounds more than the Corvette. Yet the instrumented test times are not all that far apart. I bet if the CTS V Sport had the same weight as the Corvette, it's possible it may end up with better times. I really would like to see the new twin turbo in the Corvette. Vette traditionalists will scream bloody murder, that no v6 should ever be in the Vette. I beg to differ. If I were well to do enough to be in the market for the Vette, I would probably lean to the tt v6. This is not to suggest that the v8 is not a…

Mexico, Brazil, South Africa, the UK, et al, could use the infusion of style in their respective Chevy lineups. GM shouldn't rest on the laurels of crusty Daewoos, bland late-model Opels/Holdens, and 90s Chevys. Go look at the respective sites for each country and tell me I'm lyin'. The HHR obviously won't interupt or infringe on the turf of any of the bread and butter Chevys in those markets. Besides, I can't see where it's THAT expensive, plus the car is still small enough and fuel efficient enough, with the Delta/Ecotec mechanicals common enough in the worldwide parts bin. Hell, it would even make a great taxi or cute delivery van in those markets. I think the…

The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is already a monster with 650 horsepower from a 6.2L supercharged V8 engine. But the people on the Camaro team thought they could further and the end result is the 2018 Camaro ZL1 1LE. It certainly looks the part with new canards, revised grilles, an exposed carbon-fiber air extractor for the hood, and a massive carbon fiber wing. A set of 19-inch forged wheels come wrapped in the widest tires ever offered on a Camaro - 305 mm wide tires in the front, and 325 mm tires at the back. The interior hasn't changed much aside from a lighter back seat. Under the ZL1 1LE's skin, there is a set of Multimatic Dynamic Suspension Spool Valve dampers (t…

Chevrolet appears to have some big changes in store for the next Malibu as shown by some spy shots. A huge change is with the greenhouse as the mule gets a sleek roofline that slopes downward dramatically to a shorten rear end. The speculation is that Chevrolet is taking some ideas from Chrysler 200 and Ford Fusion to inject some European design into the next model. We can't tell much about the front aside from the fascia appearing to stay the same. There are mechanical changes in store as well. Chevrolet could drop the 2.5L four-cylinder for a smaller four-cylinder with a turbocharger to increase fuel economy. Source: Automobile Magazine William Maley is a staff writ…

I'm going to be getting a new 2007 Avalanche soon but can't really make a good decision what model to get. I like the LTZ with the 20" wheels but also like the practicality (and looks) of the cladding on my current model. Has anyone heard anything about the new Z71 Avalanche, and specifically, what kind of wheels, ground clearance, cladding and other features that it's going to have? Why can't GM at least release a simple list of features on the new Z71 Avalanche so that I at least know what I can expect. Instead of blindly awaiting a truck that may not even exist (having the features I've listed above).

Chevrolet Sonic aims to be the top small car in safety August 29th, 2011 - Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com Small cars aren't typically known for their crash worthiness. For 2012, Chevrolet hopes to change that perception with their new Sonic. The main component of the safety design is its exceptionally strong body structure and safety cage. Welded tubular steel members are used to support the the door frame openings while additional steel bracing reinforces the doors. About 60% of the unit body structure is high strength steel while ultra-high-strength steel forms the forward rocker panels. In the event of a frontal or frontal offset crash, the Sonic's engine crad…

Link to AutoBlog Talk about finding a good used car. Frank Orsenick bought his '91 Silverado in 1996. At the time, it had 41,000 miles on the clock. After 11 years of service (and a lot of driving), the old pickup is about to reach a milestone. Frank had the oil changed last week, just as he has every 3,000 miles since acquiring the Chevy, and it's sure to be the last one it receives as an everyday-use vehicle. You see, it's just 1,200 miles away from spinning past the 1,000,000-mark on the odometer. When it hits the big number, Frank is going to put his faithful ride into retirement. As for how he got this far, Orsenik credits regular maintenance and "a little luck." …

We're just over 2 weeks away from the 2015 New York Auto Show where Chevrolet will take the wraps off the next iterations of the Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Spark. We also know from Chevy's teaser picture of 5 in 2015 shown below that the Chevrolet Cruze will not be far behind. What we've uncovered however is that Chevrolet appears to be planning to go on building the current design of Cruze and Malibu right along side their newer-bodied versions. According to the General Motors Vin Decoder website, the current Cruze and Malibu will soldier on for at least another model year. For 2016, both the current Cruze and Malibu will gain the Limited moniker, just like big b…

I knew they were hunting this guy! How dumb do you have to be? Whenever you walk into an automaker's factory or engineering facility, there are signs prominently displayed letting everyone know that cameras and camera phones are prohibited. Unfortunately for an electrician at the General Motors Assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario where the Camaro is due to begin production late this year he ignored the warning. Worse yet, he took some shots inside the body shop where pilot production units were making their way down the line and then showed them to his kids. The youngsters evidently extracted said photos and shared them with the world. The electrician with 28 years of s…

If you've been waiting for a row your own American Performance Sedan, the Chevrolet SS with 6-speed manual just arrived on Chevrolet's configuration site. Before you try saying "Charger Hellcat", Dodge has said that they won't be building a manual transmission version of that car. In the SS, the 6-speed manual is a no cost option on a car with very few selectable options. In fact, the only other selectable factory options are a $900 sunroof and a $500 full size spare tire. The SS comes standard with leather, Chevrolet's MyLink with 8 inch screen, and Navigation. Selecting the 6-speed manual also changes the rear axle ratio from 3.27 to 3.70, so acceleration from the 415…

The sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro has been lagging somewhat in sales when compared to the likes of the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger. Through July, Chevrolet only has moved 41,280 Camaros (down 2.5 percent). Compared to the Mustang which sold 50,814 (down 30 percent). The Challenger trails the Camaro but not by much - 41,243 units (up 2.6 percent). It gets worse when you compare it to last-generation Camaro. In 2015, the last year for the fifth-generation model, Chevrolet moved 77,502 models. A year later when the sixth-generation arrived, sales dropped to 72,705 models. To try and change the Camaro's fortunes, General Motors is considering making some chang…
