When Chevrolet announced the 2017 Bolt's range last week, they hinted that the model would have a price tag of under $37,500 and would qualify for the maximum $7,500 tax credit. Today, Chevrolet announced the starting price for the Bolt will be $37,495 when it arrives at dealers later this year. The company is quick to point out that the price drops to $29,995 once you add in the $7,500 federal tax credit. But we need to stress that this tax credit cannot be used during the purchase of the Bolt, so you're still paying the $37,495. The base Bolt LT will come equipped with a regen-on-demand steering wheel paddle, 10.2-inch touchscreen, backup camera, and more. Premier mo…

From the San Francisco Journal's website sfgate.com The last muscle car Sexy as a swollen porn star on meth, twice as useless By Mark Morford, SF Gate Columnist Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Have you seen this thing? This sexy macho bloated Hot Wheels fantasia dreamgasm of a car-like drunken child's funbot crayon sketch? No? Because it appears to be a vehicle that at least some across the Big Autosphere are still secretly praying, despite the sudden overthrow of -- despite the deadly ultimatum for -- General Motors, might yet prove to be a savior. Indeed, it's a car some hope will maybe, just maybe sell like crazy and restore a tiny bit of faith in big, thick, …

[source: Car and Driver] 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V6 LT vs. 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 V6 Battle of the sixes: Who'd have guessed that the Camaro V-6's most earnest competitor would hail from from Ulsan, Korea, and not Detroit? 1. Camaro V6 LT Highs: Superb ride-and-handling trade-off, styling that guarantees smiles. Lows: Ugly dash graining, impossible to heel-and-toe, needs to lose weight. The Verdict: The first V-6 pony car we'd marry in a minute. 2. Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Highs: Tenacious grip, race-car brakes, fast-revving V-6. Lows: Can't be shifted smoothly, buck…

Did anyone catch the episode of Rides where the HHR gets customized by different teams? No?... well, here's some info with pics. HHR by Year One HHR by Unique Performance HHR by Darkside HHR by P Teaser My favorites: RWD V8 HHR's done by Year One and Unique Performance (I was just thinking that a RWD HHR would kick ass) Maybe somebody can post some of the pics into this thread, I know how much it sucks to open a thread and get no eye candy. Thanks. Thanks to HHR Club for posting the info, which I couldn't find anywhere else. Not that I tried that hard.

Chevrolet Cruze Gains for 2012 Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com May 16th, 2011 Being only one year on the market, we wouldn't expect too many changes for Chevy's new compact car. However, Chevy isn't going to sit still on this one. The biggest news is that on Cruze's equipped with the 1.4 liter turbo and automatic transmission gain 2mpg in highway fuel economy. Unfortunately, they don't explain how they do it. There are no axle ratio changes or engine updates listed. The final drive ratio is switching from 3.83 to a 3.53 while other cogs in the 6-speed auto are all getting different ratios as well. (scroll down in thread for details) For those of you who want to r…

After Deep Cuts, GM Expects To See Profits on Small Cars By NEAL E. BOUDETTE = September 14, 2006 Link to Original Article @ Wall Street Journal.com DANA POINT, Calif. -- The deep structural cost cuts General Motors Corp. put in place this year should enable the auto maker to finally make money on small cars, the company's vice chairman said. For years, most if not all compact cars made by GM and its Detroit rivals Ford Motor Co. and DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler Group have lost money, in large part because of the extra costs they carry to pay for health care and pensions for thousands of retired hourly workers. But GM last year reached an agreement with the Unite…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com October 23, 2012 General Motors has announced that it will be doing a software upgrade on 4,000 2013 Chevrolet Volts due to glitch which could cause the electric motor to shut down. Kevin Kelly, manager of Electric Vehicle and Hybrid Communications told GM-Volt.com that problem lies in the software when a Volt is in the delayed time and rate charge mode. "We are notifying 2013 model year Chevy Volt owners about a customer satisfaction issue. We have received a few reports from owners that their electric motor has temporarily stopped working, resulting from a software anomaly when their vehicle is in the delayed time an…

From GM Media: DETROIT – It’s been approximately six months since Chevrolet’s redesigned Malibu was launched. In that time, it has received critical acclaim – including being named 2008 North American Car of the Year – and numerous recommendations by consumer groups. More importantly, the new Malibu is resonating with customers. In only the first quarter of 2008, market share is up 1.3 points over the same period in ’07. Much of that growth is due to retail sales, which increased 110 percent during the first three months of the year, with three large, import-heavy states showing dramatic growth: * Florida sales are up 91 percent * New York sales are up 13…

Link to Article One of the most highly anticipated vehicles to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson this year was the first 2010 Chevy Camaro. There are very few instant classics these days, and this is one of them. There's still a month before actual series production of the car is slated to begin, but the winning bidder claimed the right to the very first retail production car that can be ordered in any color and with any options he chooses. Last year, it took exactly one-million dollars to win the hotly contested rights to the first 2009 Corvette ZR1, and this year $350,000 claimed the first edition of the newly-revived Camaro. Just as with last year's ZR1, all pro…

Too bad and a huge shame it is an American car. I wonder how much more it is going to cost Americans to buy this thing now that Trump has put 25% tariffs on CANADIAN aluminium and steel? (effective on March 12) Because I do NOT doubt one iota that Chevrolet uses CANADIAN raw materials for its supercar... Oh well, this PROUD CANADIAN is a lot less proud of this American sportscar now. If I had boat loads of CANADIAN looneys. Yeah...that's right! CANADIAN CASH, BABY!!! to buy me a sportscar, Id buy myself a Porsche now that my country NEEDS me to boycot ANYTHING American... SUV with mind of its own wins robot car race Sun Nov 4, 2007 4:03pm EST By Peter Henderson VICTORVILLE, California (Reuters) - A souped-up Chevy Tahoe sports utility vehicle with a mind of its own was declared the winner of a robot car race on Sunday after it traveled without help from humans for six hours and 60 miles around a California ghost town. Nicknamed Boss, the vehicle from Carnegie Mellon University of Pittsburgh won a $2 million prize in the third such race sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense, which wants robots eventually to drive military supply vehicles. The entrants -- including station wagons and a huge green military truck all decked out with…

A couple of years ago, Chevrolet rolled out the Colorado ZR2 concept. This truck showed what a possible off-road focused model could look like. At the time, Chevrolet said this was only a concept. But some new spy shots show GM is considering putting this model into production. While the front end is camouflaged very well, we can make out certain details such as a new front bumper, tow hooks, and a skid plate. The bumper is an important change as the current one limits how far you can off-road. The suspension has been lifted (an inch or two we're guessing) and there is a set of meaty off-road tires. Engines choices are likely to be the 3.6L V6 and 2.8L Duramax fou…

Orginal (Bug guts and all...) Okay so I saw Mario's Camaro desktops and thought they were missing something... So I went through my archive (I save every GM Wieck Photo) and found a Camaro badge from the same angle and pasted it where the Chevy logo should be. (As in in the orginal it wasn't there.) I them removed all the big "bug spots" from the front end and edited the color slightly I also have it in 1440X900 (for wide-screen monitors) and or 1280X960, PM me if you'd like one of those size(s). I can't host the large than 1024X768 on photobucket. Take care and enjoy... Be sure to tell me how I did on the chop and what you think! :AH-HA_wink: I want the CAMARO NOW…

Chevrolet has revealed ahead of the DAYTONA 500 the Chevrolet Blazer EV.R prototype which is an example of their dedication to test, and explore new technologies as they learn how to apply the technology to both racing and production version auto's. Chevrolet has been a leading contender in NASCAR with proven V8 technology as they pushed to continually look for better ways to improve power, durability, and efficiency in then transfering that knowledge back to production vehicles that show up in the showroom. The Blazer EV.R prototype delivers 1,300 horsepower from three six-phase electric motors that instantly rev up to 15,000 rpms, power w…

Rumor Mill: V6 Corvette? Yech... Rumors of a V6-powered Corvette model have been floating around for years but weren't taken very seriously until Motor Trend decided to spend some ink on it a few issues ago and predict the six-cylinder model would revive the "Sting Ray" name. The model would basically be a Chevy-branded version of the Kappa roadster that GM has liberally passed out to such brands as Pontiac (Solstice), Saturn (Sky) and Opel (GT). Chevy's version would be different in that power would come from a V6 rather than an inline-four cylinder, and rumor has it that it would be badged a Corvette. Kind of sounds like a long shot, but Rick "Corvette" Conti, the #1…

Super Vette Spied! Again! Chevy’s 650-hp Corvette SS caught heading in for EPA testing AutoWeek | Published 11/06/06, 9:03 am et Link to full article and pics @ Autoweek Not even a month has passed since we first reported on Chevrolet’s plans for a super Corvette, a halo model well in excess of the already superb Z06. Judging by these spy shots, it appears assurances we were given earlier this year that the car was on the development fast track (“To Hell and Back,” May were right on target. These photos were taken by George Kachadoorian just outside of Ann Arbor last week. He suspects the car was headed in for EPA testing. While the hood scoop indicates t…

As regular readers here know, I have faithfully followed every detail of the Chevrolet Volt story and every morsel of news since the car was no more than a show car shell and a pen and paper idea. Over these months and years we’ve run into many controversial moments. Perhaps none has been as controversial as the present “gas engine driving the wheels” fiasco. Earlier this week I attended GM’s first media press conference where executive engineer Larry Nitz described how the Volt operated. In the lecture he specifically mentioned 70 MPH as the point where the combustion engine can contribute power indirectly to the driveshaft. He was quite specific this can only occur…

It seems the Cruze, Malibu, and Spark weren't the only cars that got enhanced for 2019. Today, Chevrolet revealed the 2019 Camaro which has gotten a number of changes. The most apparent change is a new face. Chevrolet has added various aerodynamic elements and new LED headlights to have the LS/LT, RS, and SS models stand apart. The RS Appearance Package features a reshaped black grille and lower chrome inserts. SS models get additional LED lighting, two-piece grille design, and the new 'flowtie' air intake emblem on a black crossbar. It's different to say in the least. We'll leave it to you to decide whether it is better. Other exterior changes include LED taillig…

But the document also mentions some intriguing information on upcoming powertrains for the C8 Corvette. Here are the details, Corvette Z06: 5.5L DOHC V8 known as the LT6 that will produce 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. No mention of any type of forced-induction. Corvette Gran Sport: 6.2L OHC V8 with a hybrid system that's expected to produce 600 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque. Corvette ZR1: Twin-Turbo 5.5L…

We have been hearing about Chevrolet adding a crossover between the Equinox and Traverse for about a year or so. This week, we have gotten our first look at this new model possibly wearing a well-known nameplate. A spy photographer caught two Chevrolet prototypes testing alongside a Nissan Murano. How do we know they're Chevrolet models? You can just make out the emblem through the camouflage. The design is very much Traverse with a similar shape and large grille. The new crossover will use the same platform that underpins the GMC Acadia. Powertrains are expected to be a 2.5L four-cylinder and 3.6L V6. According to sources, the new crossover will have the opti…

Wouldnt this be a good time to think about bringing back the Metro to production? this car got 58 mpg in 1992!! I know we have the Aveo but its no better than a Cobalt in mileage. id say lets bring over the 3 door aveo and put a 1.0L 3cyl in the engine bay and bam we have ourselves a 50 MPG car.. this car didnt sell really well in 1992 because gas was $1.25 a gallon, it WOULD sell with gas near $4.00 a gallon.

"SS" Won't Go On Just Anything Anymore General Motors Corp. is rethinking the way its uses the SS moniker that has adorned souped-up Chevrolets since 1961. SS -- for super sport -- has traditionally signaled performance versions of vehicles like the Camaro, Impala and most recently the Cobalt sedan. The automaker felt it was getting a bit carried away with the label after putting it on the most recent version of the Malibu midsize sedan. So now only cars with the best horsepower, braking power and handling will get the title. It's part of GM's bid to stoke sales by building exclusivity into some models, a move the automaker hopes will burnish the overall image of a …

Autoblog is reporting availability of the 2.5L and 2.8L used in the global trucks about a year after SOP of the new small trucks. Link to that article is HERE. This is very interesting to me as I might be in the market for a smaller truck with towing capability and better MPG than the bigger trucks on the market in the next few years... HERE is a bit more info on these engines available globally. And HERE is a Motor Trend review of the 2012 Colorado. 7716 lb towing capacity on the 2.8L version? I bet the MPG will be no worse than 30-32 highway (hey, if the big Ram can do it, these little trucks better be able to...). Sign me up!

While the Stingray is a world beating every man's $50K sports car, the Stealthray replaces the ZR1 as the Chevrolet's no-excuse Supercar. The Stealthray sets it sights at beating the Ferrari 458 Italia in every measure of performance -- acceleration, braking and road holding -- while retailing at half the price. It does so quite simply by being a 2.4% lighter car with 24.6% more power, 76.9% more torque, one more gear and bigger tire contact patches. The Stealthray name stems from the full carbon fiber body shell. The Stealthray differs from the standard Corvette in the following aspects:- Full carbon fiber bodywork and floorboards over lightened closed roof aluminum f…

New spy photos show a heavily camouflaged Holden Ute breaking cover down under. The car shows many of the tell tale signs of being based off of the new Zeta platform, including a similar proportions to the aforementioned Holden Commodore and large wheel arches. The overhauled Ute will come in time for Holden to boost its position against import 4×4 SUV's which are becoming increasingly popular in Australia. A new El Camino? Recently, there has been a great deal of speculation about the new Ute coming to America badged as a Chevrolet El Camino. Holden sources recently told Australia's CarPoint the lure of "substantial" export orders for "the Americas" have accelerate…

With the Holden Commodore saying goodbye in 2017, it was assumed that the Chevrolet SS would follow suit. But some recent comments last week are making us rethink that. During a discussion at the New York Auto Show, Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for the Camaro and SS hinted that all was not lost for the SS. “It sells what it’s supposed to. And we haven’t announced an end date to it, so we’re just … we know that there are some decisions made on the Zeta [platform], that are imminent, and right now we’re just focused on the new ’17 model, which is great. It has the LS3 with the manual and the active exhausts, and it’s a great car,” said Oppenheiser. The lack of…

After countless spy shots, speculation, Transformers tie-ins, leaked photos and numbers comparisons, we've finally driven the 2010 Chevy Camaro. Does the reality match the hype? Well, it's like Star Wars. Asked on May 18, 1999 what my favorite movie was I, like many of my contemporaries, would have had an easy answer: Star Wars. Just one day later, with the release of Phantom Menace, that answer would change forever. It didn't make sense. Episode I, compared quantitatively to its predecessors and, according the huge amount of buzz surrounding it, must have been a much better movie. It had a bigger budget, benefited from modern technology, had really neat imaginary creat…

Just got back from NAIAS. Of course the Camaro was on the top of my list of cars to see. Looks great in person!! I was so so about the interior pics I saw on here and other websites but after seeing it in person it looks awsome!!!! After seeing the Challenger and the Camaro, the Camaro was SO much nicer inside and out. A lot better interior and more design/design features on the exterior. But the exterior will really come down to whether your a Mopar or GM musclecar fan (personally I liked the Camaro quit a bit more than the retromod Dodge). Here's some pics I took of it, got a half assed shot of the rear underside too (notice that the exhaust does not cross each other l…

We have read that the next Malibu will be larger and fill the role of the current Impala and Malibu combined and will ride on EPII. After seeing a MaXX and a Equinox next to each other in a parking lot yesterday something occurred to me: What if EPII shared some parts of Theta? Here is the chart I made with the dimensions: Equinox MaXX Impala Length 188.8 187.8 200.4 Width 71.4 69.8 72.9 Height 69.3 58.1 58.7 As you can see the in some dimensions the Equinox is quite close to the current Impala and if made more car like through the use …

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com March 13, 2013 The current Chevrolet Impala holds the title of being the queen of the fleet market. Last year, nearly 75% of the 169,351 Impalas sold went to the fleet market (about 127,013 vehicles). With the new Chevrolet Impala just around the corner, General Motors would not like to have a repeat of that. Chevrolet marketing chief Chris Perry said yesterday at the media launch of the 2014 Impala that Chevrolet will sell the old Impala to fleets for one more year. Those fleets looking to get their hands on the 2014 model will have to wait till next year. GM's goal is to drop fleet sales of the Impala to around 30%…

I say buy a Cruze for 20,000. Spend the 20,000 on gasoline! A Volt costs 40,000! I could buy a lot of gasoline for 20K extra. That is why I could never buy a Volt. Tue much munny!! The Volt is cool and innovative. But 40 K would buy a nicer vehicle like a CTS or Enclave.

General Motors has released a slew of images that show the first batch of pre-production 2010 Chevy Camaros being assembled at the its assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario. Check out the gallery below to see how the sausage is made, though watching the Camaro go from shells to showroom ready is much more appetizing than watching someone stuff animal intestines with meat. The gallery shows nearly every stage of the muscle car's birth process, including paint, the mating of body to chassis, final inspections and the finished product that pops out the other end. Enjoy. Check out this thread in GMINSIDENEWS... http://www.gminsidenews.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28959 Does anyone know about these engines, in terms of HP,TQ, and transmissions to be used behind them? There was mention of a 4.5L V-8 for the fullsizers and a 2.9L V-6 for the Colorado/Canyon, and based on the current DuraMax 6.6 specs I figured the following: Engine..........HP........TQ 6.6L.............360......650....=....54.54 HP/Liter......98.5 TQ/Liter 4.5L.............245......443.........(based on above calculations) 2.9L.............158......285..........(Same as above) These are just estimates....Maybe my math is wrong, but it should be close. I just got home from the new york auto show. Now I have been infatuated by the Camaro Concept since I saw it but after actually seeing the car im awestruck. There really is a difference from seeing the pictures and seeing it in person. I asked for Scott Settlemire the girl said I just missed him and he would be there tomorrow. The girl who introduced the car was real informative and even made things interesting with some comments about the car. I was speaking to her after her presentation and I said I believed the car was already being worked on and she winked at me. I know everyone knows the car is a go, but I still like the hints she and other GM people dropped at the s…

Blake Noble Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 4th, 2012 GM hasn’t exactly been bashful about the fact it plans to build a new rear-drive performance sedan for Chevrolet next year, and race it on your local NASCAR track. Announced in March of this year, the upcoming Chevy — which will wear the SS moniker in either short or long-hand form — should likely boast the same 6.2 liter V8 heart which furiously beats beneath the hood of the Camaro SS. The 6.2 should produce upwards of 415 horsepower for use in the SS sedan. When news broke about the Chevrolet SS, it was widely believed that the car would be only be available with a V8 and four doors. However, that may no…

Exotic cars here are fairly commonplace, but a couple days ago a Le Mans Blue Z06 came roaring down the road, I almost messed myself. Sizzlin hot. I see them here more in Yellow or Silver. This color looked fantastic. You have to see this car in person...pictures don't even come close. Makes the regular Corvette look sedate. July 17, 2006 Test Drive: 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Review and photos by Paul Williams It's a good thing that accelerating too quickly isn't a traffic offence. We know the law is picky about speed, but acceleration - well, that seems to have slipped through. This is a fortunate oversight when you're driving the $89,900 2006 Corvette …

http://www.autoblog.com/2012/09/19/this-is-your-best-look-yet-at-chevys-c7-corvette/ GM has really gone to lenghts to hide this car with camo even on the dash. The things to take here are the seats are seen. Also the Steering wheel and the C7 is next to a ZL1 to better judge the size. There is a shot of the rear hatch that looks like a more flat rear hatch with no wrap around to the opening part. The large rear center pipes with the 4 outlets are a nice touch. We should see more soon as this is following the same patter of GM photo leaks and bring the cars out to tease.

I don't know what's going on over at Chevy but everything they've released looks worse than what they have out right now. The Malibu and Cruze less so but the Silverado and Camaro look so much worse. What the hell, Chevy?!? I'm almost always in favor of the newest versions of things but these Chevys aren't doing it for me.

First, I don't.. I repeat.. DON'T want you guys saying the Camaro isn't coming. Haters, leave or don't comment. Now let's start some speculation! What do you expect to see at NAIAS, if, indeed, a Camaro concept is shown. Remember, it will be a CONCEPT, not a complete production model. Oh, and if you disagree with someone, that's okay. This is only personal speculation/hopes. My Speculation: Design: Front end will have one of two designs. One, quad headlights with a lower grille like the 4th Gen. Two, something like Horton's. Rear design will definitely have LEDs and the taillights will either be quad round ones or a panel lik…
