The New York Auto Show is just a couple weeks away and news of what will be appearing is beginning to show up. Autoblog has learned that Chevrolet will have three major debuts at the show. The debuts will include new version of the Corvette, an updated 2015 Cruze, and a "important new addition to our small-vehicle lineup." Lets begin with the Corvette. Autoblog speculates that it could track-focused version of the Z06 model, limited-edition package, or something else. We keen to thinking its the latter two at this time. Then there is the 2015 Cruze. As we reported last week, spy shots of what is purported to be the 2015 model was caught in China. Will it be the same? Th…

End of the Line: GM Builds Last Chevrolet SSR Date posted: 03-21-2006 LANSING, Michigan — Chevrolet's gorgeous but ill-starred SSR pickup/roadster has reached the end of the line. The last 2006 SSR rolled out of the General Motors Craft Centre here on Friday, March 17. During its brief three-year production run, GM built fewer than 25,000 SSRs, including just 789 units this year. The SSR was plagued by issues throughout its short lifespan, including quality problems, too much weight, not enough power and a breathtaking sticker price. The bottom line was dismal sales, resulting in mountains of unsold vehicles that stacked up on dealer lots. Despite numerous tweaks in…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drive...rticleId=107488 April 2006 It might surprise some readers to learn that an Edmunds.com editor turned down the use of a 2005 Land Rover LR3 and instead opted to take the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt LT on a family trip to Yosemite National Park. Yes, the LR3 drives magnificently and has gobs of space into which you can throw everything you could ever want to take along with you. But there is one little problem: It gets only an average of 15 miles per gallon and requires premium gasoline. The Cobalt, on the other hand, averaged 31.4 miles per gallon of regular fuel for the 672-mile trip. Before we go into greater detail, we should a…

You know you're off to a good evening when it starts with the delivery of a Victory Red pre-production 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS. I hadn't even pulled away from the parking garage where it was waiting for me, and it was already causing a ruckus. A young boy, waiting with his extended family for their car to be retrieved, saw the ponycar roll up. His eyes turned into saucers. "Dad, it's the car from Transformers!" he sputtered, tugging on his father's sleeve. Dad immediately chimed in with, "Whoa. Niiiice car." Grandpa looked at the car, locked eyes with me, broke into a grin and just gave a thumbs up. The Camaro elicits those sort of responses a lot. You know, because it's…

The current issue of Car and Driver did a full road test of the Impala SS. Even though the test numbers looked very good, they pretty much panned it. The said that the driving dynamics were unrewarding. They did say that it was a good effort with an 18 year old platform....... Thought the LTZ would be a more rewarding drive.

GM Has posted the 2014 Impala ordering guide online, I guess these things must be hitting the road sooner than we thought- maybe January or February. It appears the 2LT and LTZ will be the only vehicles available at launch, with standard V6 power. The LS and 1LT will be 2.5L only and will be coming in Q2 with the Eco coming by year end. http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/NASApp/domestic/proddesc.jsp?year=2013&butID=1®ionID=1&divisionID=3&vehicleID=13882&type=0 You guys can draw your own conclusions but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the packaging. I have a 99 Blazer in pretty good shape, but lately it sounds like something is grinding in the back. It kind of sounds like brake pads, but it doens't make the noise when I press the brakes, it's almost all the time. It's getting worse. Is it possible the rear pads are just stuck or something? Also I thought the front were always the first to go. Thanks

It seems that the automotive press from what little they have experienced so far with the Malibu like it very much, but you can read that for yourself below... FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU An estimated 20 members of the media — including car enthusiast and business writers, fashion experts, and an international cast of journalists — had an opportunity to experience the new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu for themselves last week, at the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, Mich. Those driving impressions won’t be appearing in print until at least Nov. 2, but here’s a sneak peek at their thoughts: “This reinvents the value equation.” — Warren Brown, “The Washi…

After seeing this picture on Wikipedia, I finally come to understand why the new Aveo hatchback doesn't look right. The lower grille is obscenely large, to a point it makes the car out of balance, but if you look at this Euro version with the front plate, it actually make sense. The front plate hides part of the lower grille, so it makes it looks smaller. Look closely if you see a new Aveo in person, you'll find out that only half of that grille actually has holes. My suggestion is to make it look a bit more like the previous gen 3-door Kalos Sport version (which IMO looks awesome). Put on a front plate holder, then relocate the Chevy badge into the upper grille. M…

Here are some pictures I took of the Inferno Orange 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS at the Montreal International Autoshow in Quebec, Canada on Tuesday January 20th. This was my first time sitting in the production Camaro. Initial impressions are very good. The interior plastics are hard, but everything had a solid feel, and was put together well. The interior is all business (minimalist) and feels snug, with the low cut windows. Seats are excellent, and room is decent. It looks killer...just like the concept car. There was always a crowd around it, and the short seat time I got, I didn't really use for picture taking of the inside (will do in Toronto). VIDEO:

Okay, I'm borrowing the topic from the Bu.... "The Fusion was a sales dog for a couple years till they rounded the nose a little and upgraded the interior. The wheels have made the greatest impact" Hyperv6 brought up a very good point there. Even the Fusion base model lacks wheel covers. This even makes the basic buyer feel good about how their car looks. Hence, my worrysome issue. I've peeked at other chevy sites where the Cruze is available, an saw something that saddens me: real dorky wheel covers on the base model. My gut tells me that it will be the same way here. Not good. I'm the kinda guy who likes their cars simple. A nice set of wheels and a sunroof is prett…

Link (See 1st and 2nd post) It sounds as though the Corvette will be getting a 6.2L V8 "LS3" with ~450HP in '08 and that the Z06 will be getting a supercharged version dubbed LS9 with over 600HP. It seems weird to me that they would drop the LS7 already as it must have been pretty expensive to develop, so maybe the Z06 keeps the LS7 and the "Blue Devil" gets the "LS9".

After countless months of speculation, spy photos, and someone leaking out the cover of this month's Car and Driver, Chevrolet has revealed the 2019 Corvette ZR1. This is the maddest Corvette that Chevrolet has ever built. Beginning under the hood, the ZR1 packs an LT5 V8 engine. While carrying the same name as the engine found in the original ZR-1, the new ZR1 skips the dual-overhead cams found in the original LT5. Instead, Corvette engineers took the supercharged 6.2L V8 found in the Z06 and installed a larger Eaton supercharger that pumps in 52 percent more air into the engine. The LT5 also features direct and port fuel injection, upgraded crankshaft, dry sump lubr…

CNN Money Drives Volt Mule It was a rare opportunity when General Motors recently invited a few reporters to test drive a Chevrolet Volt electric car "test mule" at the carmaker's proving grounds in Milford, Mich. Very few people who don't work for a car company ever get to drive "mules." These are not-ready-for-prime-time mock-ups used to test new engine, transmission and suspension technologies. To create a "mule," engineers stuff the mechanicals of a new vehicle into the body of an existing vehicle and test drive that for months. It beats waiting for a whole car. In this case, the body was that of a Chevrolet Cruze, a new small car model that GM will start selling …

On the 11th apparantly a new version of the T2X concept debuted. I first saw it on GMTV and took a print screen of it, and I was only able to find one other pic of it. Anyways, here is the old T2X that debuted back in April: And here is the "evolved" one: Here is the only other pic I could find of the new one: Obviously there must be a bigger version of the last one I posted, but I couldn't find any. Regardless, I think the new Chevy grill inserted into the old black space makes it look a lot better, and I really think GM could do good producing something like it.

It may seem odd to try and draw customers who would have gone with a Volkswagen diesel to yours in this current climate. But that is what GM is planning to do when the diesel version of the Chevrolet Cruze arrives next year. “There are a lot of diesel intenders and diesel-loyal people who are looking for a brand and vehicles to go after,” said Dan Nicholson, General Motors’ vice president for global propulsion systems to Automotive News. “They tend to be more tech savvy than the average customer. And they won’t stop wishing for a diesel. And we’ll go after those customers.” But one has to wonder how big that group of customers is. Considering a fair amount of …

Most of us knew this was going happen, but there were some that hoping that somehow the Chevrolet SS would continue on after production of the Holden VF Commodore ended. To those who fall into this camp, it is time to move on as the SS will be no more after 2017. Alan Batey, head of GM North America confirmed this yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show. Batey also said there would not be a replacement for the rear-drive sedan. “Obviously it’s unlikely there is anything to follow because of what is going on in Australia. It was an optimistic play from our perspective and it’s played out well and been a nice addition to the range. It’s not mainstream. It’s small volum…

I just noticed something weird about the Camaro. Most cars, and even the concept, have their calipers behind the front rotor and ahead of the rear rotor. The production car looks to have its calipers behind both rotors. Here are some pics to compare: Production: http://images.leftlanenews.com/content/mar...08/camaro-9.jpg Concept: http://img2.netcarshow.com/Chevrolet-Camar...allpaper_09.jpg Is it weird that it's setup like that? The G8's is the same way, but the CTS's and Corvette's are setup like the Camaro concept.

600 Horses: Chevy Working on '08 Corvette SS? Date posted: 12-06-2005 DETROIT — Corvette rumors are as rampant these days as tabloid stories about Nick and Jessica. But aficionados' antennae are picking up emanations from deep inside General Motors that Chevrolet is readying an ultra Vette for 2008 that should outgun the new Z06. According to the Web site, DigitalCorvettes.com, the so-called Corvette SS will be the ultimate Vette, although details at this stage are pretty slim. The rumor mill has a "charged" LS9 engine under the hood as a Corvette exclusive, not to be shared with Cadillac, Pontiac or any other GM brand. Although smaller in displacemen…

I believe in neither Global Warming nor the importance of reducing carbon emissions. But, I can see a place for entry luxury vehicles with a refined, fuel efficient and sprightly power train. Such a vehicle will have significant appeal regardless of the potential buyer's propensity to drink Climate Change Coolaid. In this regard, the Volt is lacking in terms of cost effectiveness and performance -- it is a nice Halo car, but it won't be a volume seller. Paying $15,000 extra to save even 70% on the average $1000~1200 annual gas tab doesn't make sense because you won't break even for 17~22 years, and the public is already beginning to awaken to the fraud that is global warm…

By all accounts, the Impala is going to have a bigger impact on the market than Camaro, yet very little is being talked about here. Camaro is a downright stunning looking car. However, the Camaro is actually rediscovering a market segment that has always relyed on stunning looks to survive. The sporty coupe market, despite the ramblings of some, is heavily based on looks, not 0-60 performance. This is an extremely style conscious market in which cars typically have a life span of 3-5 years with a distinctive life cycle that goes from hot to mainstream to yesterday's news, then a new style comes out. However..... The family sedan market is completely different. Peopl…

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – General Motors is investing $208 million in the Fairfax Assembly plant to prepare the facility for production of the all-new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The investment covers expansion of the plant’s body shop and the purchase of equipment needed to make the new Malibu . The plant currently builds the Malibu , Malibu MAXX and Saturn Aura, with a Hybrid Saturn Aura scheduled for release in early 2007. The announcement was made at the plant today during a ceremony that included representatives from GM and the UAW, Kansas Gov. A couple years back, then General Motors' North American president, Mark Reuss said “That was a pre-bankruptcy planning mistake,” when asked why Chevrolet didn't sell the Cruze Hatchback in North America. That appears to changing with the next-generation Cruze. Automotive News reports that Chevrolet showed off a Cruze Hatchback at its national dealer meeting in Las Vegas last week. According to sources, the model was billed as a 2016 model, but a launch date wasn't announced. Chevrolet will be revealing the 2016 Cruze at a media event this week with sales starting sometime in the first quarter of next year. Automotive News guesses sales of the hatchback could star…

Chevrolet already has a unique option for picking up a new vehicle. For an additional $990 on top of a the price of a new Corvette, you can pick it up at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. Chevrolet thought that wasn't enough and announced yesterday of another delivery program. The new program will allow a customer to pick up their new Chevrolet at the Daytona International Speedway and drive their new vehicle on the track. The program also includes a special memento of the event, and documentation saying the vehicle was picked up here. Inside Line tests hundreds of vehicles a year, but not every one gets a full write-up. The numbers still tell a story, though, so we're introducing a new feature on Straightline called "IL Track Tested." It's a quick rundown of all the data we collected at the track, along with comments direct from the test drivers. Enjoy. Everyone has had their eyes on the 2010 Chevy Camaro SS, including us. It is, after all, the Camaro with a V8. This makes the SS the Camaro for enthusiast. And with a 6-speed manual, the SS will stomp through the quarter-mile in a stunning 13 seconds flat at 110.9 mph. Also new for 2010, is the Camaro V6, known as the LS, 1LT or 2LT, depending on ho…

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today it's opening a formal safety investigation into the Chevrolet Volt after further tests sparked fires and raised more questions about the safety of the Volt's lithium ion battery packs. Back on May 12th, NHTSA performed a side pole impact test, on a Chevrolet Volt at a testing facility in Wisconsin. Three weeks after, the Volt caught on fire with the battery being the cause of the fire. On November 14th, NHTSA performed three follow-up battery-level tests to simulate the incident. Two out the of three tests produced thermal events, including fire. Because of the results, NHTSA has opened an investigation. GM …

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com September 7, 2013 Those hoping to see a Chevrolet SS at their dealer might be waiting for awhile. Edmunds is reporting that the first batch of SS sedans that will be arriving later this year is small. John Fitzpatrick, Chevrolet's marketing manager for the Camaro, Corvette, and SS says that about 900 SS sedans will be available to dealers. That brings forward a problem; there are about 3,000 Chevrolet dealers in the U.S. and with only 900 SSs available, this presents a big problem. How will General Motors dole out SS sedans? By looking at the sales of the Camaro and Corvette at each dealer. "If you have a niche selling …

Okay well a local Chevy dealer whom is known for his invoice - rebates pricing. Who has a HUGE inventory of Chevrolet's has a few very special Malibu's out of his fleet of 28. I have come across a 2009 Malibu 1LT with a 3.5L V6! What is the deal here, I thought it was FLEET only, I thought only Avis and such could order these. I didn't know dealers could sell them brand new with FLEX FUEL badging none-the less, easier to tell apart I suppose. Anyways I found it odd and if I were in the market for one, I would have to consider one with the "low tech" 3.5 V6. Anyways anyone have any comments and also he has a loaded 1LT sedan with chrome alloy wheels? I thought 1LT's only c…

I'm setting here watching the CNN this morning and they have a small segment on NAIAS. They start talking about the Camaro and show video of it while on the bottom of the screen in big letters reads "CHRYSTLER INTRODUCES CONCEPT CAMARO".... If this is how accurate they are, I wonder how true most of the news is from them????

A Turbocharged V8 For The C7? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 26, 2011 The rumor pile for the seventh generation Corvette has been growing over the past year. Rumors have ranged from the Corvette not being built in the Bowling Green plant to a mid-engine layout for the C7. Well, a new rumor has come in dealing with a possible new engine. TheDetroitBureau.com is reporting that GM has approved a small displacement, turbocharged V8 engine for the Corvette. The engine is expected to be around three liters, use an overhead-cam setup, and dry sump oil system. Total horsepower is expected to be "in excess of 400 horsepower." The engine i…

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes...g_gt/index.html Finish Lines Going into this test, and knowing the basic stats, we had an inkling how it might turn out. (All three cars, by the way, eke out impressive and nearly identical fuel-economy results -- though the Mustang's lack of a six-speed means it finishes last on EPA.) Never did we guess, though, how close the overall finish would turn out to be. In third place, the Dodge Challenger R/T. Third of three, but hardly last. As MacKenzie well sums up: "Hugely endearing personality. Even though the Challenger starts to fall apart dynamically above 7/10ths you can't help but like the big guy. It's sorta like …

"Bloomberg reported that the program has been cancelled specifcally so the company can focus on bringing out lower cost plugin parallel hybrids for the Cadillac brand." http://gm-volt.com/2010/03/02/report-gm-drops-voltec-for-cadillac-kills-converj-program/ I've said before that that makes much more sense. That is also what Toyota is doing. I particularly liked this quote: "According to analyst Eric Noble, president of CarLab, an automotive consultant, GM’s decision to kill the Converj is “a tacit admission from GM that they over-batteried the Volt.”" He sounds like me. This one too: "Apparently GM’s internal research concluded that GM could not produce the Conver…

Ok I've had this pig of a vehicle for 17 mths now and I can honestly say that i have never hated any vehicle more. I have the top of the line Equinox LT with AWD and have had a myriad of problems with it since new: 1) From time to time for no reason the key will not turn in the ignition unless i play with the steering column for sometimes upwards of 10 mins to get the ignition lock to release. 2) Cheap plastic interior rattles like a ten year old Cavalier 3) AWD system has had a number of issues and repairs under warranty to replace a variety of grinding noises and vibrations. 4) Craptacular transmission that routinely shifts hard or sometimes refuses to shift out…

According to somebody's bible, Consumer Reports, Chevy Volt owners are so in love with their cars, that a full 92% of them would buy another Volt. That's pretty darn good, and only 1% fewer than last year, when the Volt topped the survey as well. I don't get the attraction, but this has to be good for GM's public perception amongst the misguided.

Chevrolet has an interesting week. Tomorrow, the automaker will be revealing the next-generation Cruze. Then a day after, the 6th generation Camaro Convertible will be shown for the first time. Unfortunately for Chevrolet, someone posted the images of the new Camaro Convertible on Chevy's site. The company has pulled them down, but the folks at Camaro6.com got the images. Not surprisingly, the convertible looks much the same as the coupe. We'll have more details on the drop-top Camaro later this week. Source: Camaro6.com View full article

Well A quick review of the stage kit for the HHR SS. WOW! This kit has given my SS the bottom end the Automatic lacks. [Auto's are held to 235 HP in 1st and 2nd gear with 250 HP in 3rd and 4th]. The new set up is at 290 HP with 314 FT LBS of torque. So far it has much more usable power and will see PSI reading up over 20 PSI any time you step on it. Some high alt areas may see as high as 27-28 PSI. Torque steer is more but with a FWD your going to get that. Once you are used to it id no big deal and you learn to expect it. MPG I have not checked but most are seeing the same or 1-2 more MPG because of the extra touque. I was able to buy my kit at a discoun…

I recently had the opportunity to pick up a light blue LS Impala from Enterprise for 4 full days to really get a feel for this revamped Chevy. To my surprise and delight this base LS model came with a trip computer and dual trip odometers so I could see what the computer said I was averaging and what the calculator said. This was again the LS model without the 2 only options of ABS and remote starter prep. My first observation upon pulling out of Enterprise and getting up to speed was how much quieter this 06 was compared to my previous 00 base model. This pleased me to see that Chevy has finally quelled some of the road noise that plagued earlier versions. This new I…

A shot of the LED taillight for the new Malibu was released. The taillight takes some design cues from the Chevrolet Camaro. The car will make its official debut at the 2011 Shanghai Motor Show on April 18th. The US premiere of the Malibu will take place at the New York Auto Show which begins on April 20rh. Not much is known about the Malibu except that it will be riding on Epsilon II platform. Rumor has the Malibu will be powered by two 4-Cylinder engines, one of them possibly a turbo version. Also…

I'm considering buying an '07 Impala SS, but have a question about the 5.3 V8's active fuel management (aka DOD). Has anyone ever had a problem with this system? If it were to somehow get stuck in 4 cylinder mode, would the car still be driveable, or would I be stranded? Thanks.

PickupTrucks.com is reporting that General Motors will be quietly dropping the light-duty full-size vans in the 2015 model year. That means the only vans you can buy at a Chevrolet or GMC dealer will be the 2500, 3500 and 4500 versions. GM sales spokesman Jim Cain said the 1500 models only made up 23 percent of the Chevrolet Express and 7 percent of the GMC Savana. "We recognize that the van space has changed radically. The 1500-series van was the last vehicle [of its type] that has been produced in North America that was under 8,500 pounds, and it had some very unique attributes to it," said Joe Langhauser, product manager for GM's full-size vans. GM isn't worried abou…

since we all know that the Colorado/Canyon and especially the Hummer H3 could really use a V6 engine, would it be possible to offer the 3.9L V6 thats used in the impala/Monte carlo in these?? of course it would have to be mounted diffrently, but if they are planning on bringing back the camaro it would probably use the 3.9L as its base engine, so they would need to engineer it for rwd anyways..

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com July 26, 2012 Ford and Dodge have stepped up to the plate for the NASCAR Nationwide Series, producing the Mustang and Challenger race cars. Now, its Chevrolet's turn at the plate. Today, the bowtie showed off the new 2013 Camaro NASCAR Nationwide Series racecar. The Camaro race car does closely resembles the actual production mode - though it's still a long way from identical. Underneath, the Camaro isn't that much different from the Ford, Dodge and Toyota. “Chevrolet is proud to bring the Camaro to the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2013. The Camaro Nationwide race car incorporates many of the distinctive styling element…

What we haven't been able to show is the two of them together... Until now. Automobile has gotten their hands on some new spy shots of the new Silverado and Sierra testing together. Much like the current models, the pictures reveal the trucks will have slight visual differences that include wheels, fender openings grilles, and taillights. The trucks feature a set of projector headlights and larger lower air dam. Around the side, the doors appear to not have any character lines. There is evidence of bright work around windows and so…

The current Impala won't compete with the next Ford Taurus. GM was slow about competing with the 1986 Taurus...1990 Lumina couldn't compete with the old Taurus. You wonder if GM had a cool Impala ready to hit the market next year that maybe they wouldn't be in DC begging for more money!!

I suddenly thought of this idea, like a "real life show" form of an ad. OK, first grab a Cobalt, COMPLETELY camoflauge the fact that it's a Chevy, i.e. like the spy vehicles, use like the vinyl wraps on the front grille, rear end, strip the badges from the steering wheel, use generic wheel covers at Tire Rack or Canadian Tire. Next, in the streets, stop people with Corollas and Civics. Particularly look for people who make negative comments about American cars, particularly. Do a brief interview with them, and record their phrases like: I LOVE my Corolla, it's like the best car you can get... blah blah blah.... Then, challenge them to test drive the s…

GM accepts Dodge Viper challenge The new 600-horsepower 2008 Dodge Viper SRT10 won't keep its king-of-the-hill position for long if General Motors Corp. Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has anything to do with it. Asked on Thursday during a meeting with analysts whether Chevrolet plans to produce the Corvette Blue Devil, GM's next generation super sports car, to usurp the Viper's newly won pole position in the race for the title of most powerful U.S. sports car, Lutz scoffed. "As you all know, it is not our policy to discuss future product programs. However ... ," he said to laughter from the audience, "it is very important for Corvette to be the most powerful, most capable, bes…

2015 brings a big change for the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray as the six-speed automatic transmission says adiós and the eight-speed automatic says hello. The new eight-speed features a more aggressive first gear ratio and lower rear axle ratio. This allows the 0-60 MPH time to drop from 3.8 to 3.7 seconds and a improved quarter mile time of 11.9 seconds (times are for the Corvette Stingray equipped with the Z51 package). Fuel economy also sees a slight bump with Corvette Stingray now getting 29 MPG on the highway. City and combined numbers are still the same (16 and 20 MPG respectively). "The Corvette Stingray is a great example of how we are leveraging engineering and…
