There's been lots of talk about GM bringing new Caddys and Buicks to market, but what about Chevy? Don't say Cruze - we knew about that before (and I couldn't care less). Will they bring anything to interest me? I hope so, because it is the only brand they have left that I might be interested in.

OK, got to drive a LFX equipped Camaro for the first time. And, I am sad to report that there had been no significant improvement in the refinement of the engine (compared to the 312hp LLT). The engine is still plagued by the most unpleasant acoustics I can bear. At idle it makes a muted, diesel like clatter. At low rpms between 1000~3000 the engine makes a groany gggaaarrrr. It all gets somewhat drowned out by about 4000~5000 rpm as the rest of the engine noises catches up. To a certain degree, cruising noise on the freeway isn’t bad because the wind noise, tire noise and everything else help mask the utterly uninspiring engine note. But on local streets pulling modestly…

Since going on sale in 2014, the Chevrolet Colorado has only seen minor styling tweaks and updates. For eight years the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder and 3.6-liter V6 were the primary engines available with the interesting and fuel-efficient 4-cylinder turbo diesel. 2018 was the best year for this model's run, with Chevy selling 134,842 Colorados, but sales have dropped since then as new and updated entries in the form of the Ford Ranger, Toyota Tacoma, and Nissan Frontier have hit the market. In 2022, the Colorado and its Canyon brother were officially the oldest mid-size trucks on the market. For 2023, Chevrolet has completely redesigned the Colorado with new looks, inter…

Someone brought this up on the "old" C&G......I sat in my first Impala yesterday (LTZ, silver, with ebony leather) and was shocked at the (lack of) quality of the interior materials!!!! Although the black interior looked sharp, the plastic on the dash and lower door panels is a shiny, hard plastic. In fact, the hard plastic is so shiny, it contrasts with the (actually nice) soft plastic on the dash top and tops of the door panels. WHY can't GM get it RIGHT...???? AARRGGGHHH! AND, I actually really like the Impala overall....so this really frustrates me.... Honda, Toyota, and Nissan can now show how to do hard plastics that look …

When if ever, do you think GM will offer a 0% (or even like 2.9%) financing deal on the Cobalt? This may be the gentle economic "push" my Mom needs to replace her Grand Am with a new Chevy, either a Cobalt or an HHR.

Chevrolet unveiled the 2019 Chevrolet Silverado today at an event in Ft. Worth, Texas. The new Silverado features new, more aerodynamic styling, and will offer a broader range of powertrain options. While details have not yet been released, expect the 10-Speed automatic co-developed with Ford to be available. GM will increase its use of mixed materials combining steel and aluminum "in the right place" according to GM. This is a subtle dig at crosstown rival Ford's all-aluminum body F-150. Chevrolet and GMC are also expected to begin offering a carbon-fiber bed option, for additional strength and "added lightness". One of the eight new Silverado models will be…

It's already hot at 11 a.m. as we pull our 2009 Nissan GT-R into the visitor's parking lot at GM's proving grounds in Arizona. The Japanese supercar looks like a spaceship next to the aging, 1960s-era brick buildings that front the massive desert test facility on the outskirts of Phoenix. Although the few GM employees who see the GT-R barely pay it any attention, we suspect they know why it's here. Somewhere deep inside this test facility there's a 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 getting prepped for a comparison test, and now the competition has arrived. We make a few calls and sign a few release forms before a Cyber Gray ZR1 emerges from the main gate and pulls up next t…

Since it's dayview, I haven't thought too much of this vehicle. After reading about it in the latest M/T mag I not anymore of a fan than before. What was GM thinking when designing this vehicle? Why the I-5 for one? Why isn't it just based off the Trailblazer with the 4.2? 14cty/19hwy is hardly good milage for a low output I-5 so using that motor for milage is no excuse. It's off road capability's rated well but that's where it stopped. It's slow, underpowered, can only tow 4500lbs for the price of a full size truck or decently equipped Avalanche. $30k base and $38k loaded!

Would it be possible to keep the solid rear axle and have fold-flat 3rd row seats? Envision a cargo/storage well AFTER the solid rear axle (in between the axle assembly and the rear bumper. Pretty much where the gas tank/spare wheel sits. You'd need to move the gas tanks forward (between the frame rails, towards the middle of the vehicle). This is doable. You'd need a longer filler tube, but wtf. A side benefit would be that the weight of the gasoline would be centrally located in the vehicle; helping stability (which shouldn't be a concern on a vehicle weighing 5500lbs to start with, but again, wtf). The exhaust pipe would also need special routing (off to the si…

I have some friends I work with that have family at Lordstown and work on the G5 and Cobalts built there. One guy I work with has an uncle who does final checks and runs the new cars on a wheel dyno. Sorry I don't have all the details but from what I have been told he has been training on a new Cobalt Turbo. The only main details I could gleem are that it is much more powerful than the present SS. He also said the engine really was much the same as the Sky and Solstice just in a transvese location. I tried to confirm the 5 speed auto tansaxle but he did not comment. I did see it is set to be on the HHR SS so it should be expected. I would guess this car will s…

Chevrolet release the EPA estimated range of 238 miles for the Chevy Bolt yesterday. A few publications released their experiences exceeding that, with some going as high as 250 miles on a single charge. With most of the affordable EV's having ranges between 90 - 120 miles, a lot of fuss has been made over electric vehicle range anxiety. So far, Telsa is the only manufacturer to offer vehicles with ranges over 200 miles, that are also supplemented by a network of free fast charging stations only for Tesla owners. While the Bolt doesn't have a manufacturer supplied charging network, there is a vast network of free and pay chargers out there. Plugged into a Le…

It seems dual overhead cams are making a return to the Corvette in one application. A set of GM service documents made their way on to Reddit sometime this morning. In the documents, there is a 6.2L DOHC V8 with LT5 code. Furthermore, the engine application corresponds to the 2018 Corvette. There isn't any indication of forced-induction being used for this engine. LT5 holds a special place in Corvette history. This was the code used for the only Corvette to ever feature a DOHC V8, the C4 ZR-1. What could this engine be used for? The Drive believes this engine could be used for the mid-engine Corvette since it is a break from the traditional. We're wondering if …

Chevy HHR Receives 5-Star Front and Side impact Safety Ratings DETROIT - The 2006 Chevrolet HHR small utility vehicle earned best-in-class, "five star" crash safety ratings in the latest federal New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) frontal and side-impact crash tests. NCAP results are conveyed via a star rating system - from one to five stars, with five being the highest. All of GM's small SUVs now register a 5-star/5-star safety performance in the tests administered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The HHR joins the 2006 Chevrolet Equinox, Saturn VUE and Pontiac Torrent in being awarded five-star ratings in both frontal and side impa…

2014 Chevrolet Impala -- another Car GM Should Build The Chevy Impala is a Front Engined, Rear Drive, 5-passenger sedan built on a long wheelbase Zeta+ Platform. The vehicle features laser welded seams, high strength steel and an aluminum hood culminating in a 150 lbs weight reduction over the Pontiac G8 despite its longer wheelbase. Power comes from the updated 3.6 liter DI V6 fortified with a new block featuring a balance shaft for enhanced refinement and cylinder deactivation for enhanced…

By William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com April 23, 2013 At first glance, you might be thinking these spy shots are for a refreshed Chevrolet Sonic sedan because of the distinctive front end. You be incorrect as Automobile Magazine says this is the new 2015 Cruze. The Cruze mule caught in these spy shots clearly show the Sonic influences tapered nose, descending hood, narrow headlights, and dual grille surround. The windshield looks be swept back and the roofline has a coupelike styling. In the back, the trunklid gains an integrated spoiler and a set of new taillights. The new Cruze will utilize an updated version of the Delta platform. Its not quite sure wh…

Award Worthiness Confirmed for Motor Trend 2017 Car of the Year - Chevrolet BOLT Motor Trend plugged in their long term Chevrolet Bolt tester 13 months ago and today they announced that they have confirmed it lived up to every expectation of being the 2017 Car of the Year. It was not just a good affordable EV that eliminated range anxiety but after 17,000 miles deserved to be praised! They do state that the CUV was not perfect as they had two software updates that fixed issues and the shifter was replaced. With that said, maintenance for the year was $0. Cost of powering the EV CUV which had a total of 154 charges cost a total of $630.58 using 69 charges a…

Back in 2014, Chevrolet introduced a small delivery van called the City Express. The new little can was the result of a marketing agreement between Nissan and General Motors for Chevy to rebadge Nissan's successful NV200 small delivery wagon. But where Nissan did well, Chevrolet faltered and the City Express languished on lots. Typical sales months for the CE were in the triple digits while by comparison, Ford moved as many as five times that amount with its direct competitor the Transit Connect. Automotive News reports that back in September, dealers were told to stop ordering them and as of February this year the last City Express rolled off the line and has alr…

The Chevrolet Impala has been the most popular American automotive nameplate of all time (I'm almost positive)... Which Impala was your favorite? I saw mine on Halloween night 1961, when my parents came home with a gleaming new 1962 Impala Sport Sedan (4-door hardtop), white with the red stripe down the belt line, and that gorgeous red interior with the subtle black stripes and chrome buttons; it had the small block 283 V8, Powerglide (2-speed) automatic transmission, and a rear-mounted radio mast antenna. I fell in love with the Chevrolet Impala that night, over 44 years ago, as a not-quite 10 year old kid, and I've been driving Chevrolets for almost my entire…

William Maley Staff Writer - CheersandGears.com December 28, 2012 Back in 2010, Chevrolet introduced a new ad campaign with the tagline of 'Chevy Runs Deep'. The campaign was designed to emphasize the emotional connect between a person and a vehicle. However the campaign was met with mixed reactions. "I'm not sure that was appropriate for the mainstream market that they're in. They need to create a message that conveys some type of differential advantage, some benefit to the mainstream buyer that the Asians cannot offer," said Polk Automotive analyst Thomas Libby. General Motors and its advertising agency, Commonwealth are weighing whether to keep the campaign or go …

More lies and spin from GM. If this was such a successful strategy why aren't they continuing it with the Aura and implementing it with the Malibu, potentially a much greater payoff? The peanut gallery here at C&G could do a better job at marketing GM's cars - probably for free. http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/31/autos/gm_v...rce=yahoo_quote The Aura program was successful, said Matt Armstrong, GM's Saturn marketing manager. Aura sales increased 24 percent from June, when the program started, through July, he said. At the same time, the overall market for midsized cars went down 14 percent. July was the second-best month for the Aura since the car's launch in 2006, …

The November 5th issue of Autoweek offers great praise for the new Malibu. They praised the ride, styling, handling, trunks space, fit and finish. They dislikes the dash lights and the location of the paddle shifters on the wheel. Overall they feel they it the mark and said they were very impress after back to back drives in the Toyota. Som in the group compare the car the the VW Passat. They said the ride is a littler firmer than the avverage Chevy but that is what they need to attract the new buyers. The car tested was the LTZ. They also noted the Chrome trim was a great touch. They were also impressed it was the first Chevy to attract attention [outsid…

A new report from the Wall Street Journal says the Chevrolet Sonic could be no more as early as of the end of this year. According to sources, the decision comes down to consumers veering more towards trucks and utility vehicles, and declining sales. So far in 2018, sales of the Sonic have dropped 21.5 percent. Overall volume has dropped by over two-thirds when compared to the Sonic's best sales of 93,518 units in 2014. This could be more bad news for GM's Orion plant, home to the Chevrolet Sonic and Bolt. The plant already lost production of the Buick Verano in late 2016. The report also notes that Ford will be axing both the Taurus and Fiesta according to sour…

Here is what I have from someone who manger went to the GM dealers show. Take it for what it is but I think it is pretty much on the mark as it is what I expected to here. I figured It would be limited as already stated by Al Oppenhiser. As it will have a LS3. I had hoped for the Gen V but I expect that it will be seen in a later model or a Alpha based replacment at some point. GM will need all the new Gen V they can get at start up for the trucks anyways. Also I am not sure if the Gen V is ready for the global market yet. Any ways here is a little of what was stated. Okay, so my manager and the owner of the dealership just got back from the Vegas show. They didn't get …

Here is what was in the Pratt and Miller Hauler going to Laguna this weekend. This is for sure not a C6R. It might be interesting to if Chevy takes a few laps in a ZR-1 for the crowd before the race to show a little Street Power. If you're a truck manufacturer and have decided to build an off-road special, sooner or later you will be entering it a desert race to prove its merit. Ford and Toyota have done it with their respective models, and soon Chevrolet will be joining this crowd with the Colorado ZR2. The truck seen here was developed and built by Hall Racing. Competing in the Best in the Desert’s General Tire “Vegas to Reno” (the longest off-road race in the U.S), the Colorado ZR2 will be in class 7300, reserved for stock mid-size trucks and SUVs. 'Stock' carries a different meaning in racing as the ZR2 has some modifications for the race such as a rollcage, racing seats and harnesses; 44-…

Link to Autoblog Perhaps Chevrolet should see if Ford is done with the "Bold Moves" slogan yet, because some Chevy dealers have grown a pair and are trying a radical move. They're bringing enemy No. 1 right into their showrooms. Chevrolet is confident enough in its forthcoming Malibu redesign, that they're willing to have customers paw all over their mid-size offering and Toyota's Camry side by side. Instead of just telling potential Malibu customers that Camry ain't all that, Chevy's car marketing director, Cheryl Catton, suggests dealers put one of the best-selling Toyotas right there next to Malibus. Production of the new Malibus begins in October, and GM's ad push f…

This is even more critical when the temperature drops below freezing, which is exactly why we ran a 2018 Chevrolet Bolt EV on our 75-mph highway fuel-economy loop in icy February to gauge how low temperatures affect electric range. ... With the thermometer’s needle pointing at 36 degrees Fahrenheit, we headed out with the cruise control set at a steady 75 mph. We averaged 83 MPGe. Compared with the 102 MPGe we recorded in a 2017 Bolt in 56-degree weather (nearly ide…

At an event in Detroit this evening, Chevrolet took the wraps off the Tahoe and Suburban SUVs. We don't have specs yet to publish, but wanted to get the pictures out for you to see. I will be updating the article as more details come out. Six different trims will be offered including the new High Country trim, an RST trim, and Z71 becomes its own trim line instead of being offered as a separate package. LS, LT, and Premier trims carry on. Engines are the 5.3-liter and 6.2-liter V8s, but the 3.0L Duramax will also be joining the lineup. The 5.3 and 6.2 now sport dynamic fuel management. All engines send power to the wheels through a 10-speed automatic. The Duramax i…

The Chevrolet Caprice may be long gone from the North American market, but in the Middle East the nameplate soldiers forth. Based on the Holden Statesman, the Arabian-market Caprice receives a host of updates for the new model year, including a 6L80E six-speed automatic with Active Select driving either 240-hp 3.6-liter V6 or 6.0-liter V8 putting out 360 ponies. The Caprice is available in several trim levels, incorporating new features like electronic stability control, Bluetooth connectivity and remote start, a handy feature for cooling down the interior after it was backing under the Arabian sun. Chevy insists that "it is indisputable that the 2009 Chevrolet Caprice …

Rendered: Two-Door Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback By Ed Hellwig | September 21, 2010 | Photo Illustration: Theophilus Chin Next week, the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback will make its world debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show. It'll have four doors and likely use the same drivetrain lineup as the sedan version that's been on sale in Europe for some time now. As usual, the announcement included a note about sales of the hatchback in the U.S. Specifically, it said that there wouldn't be any sales in the U.S., at least not yet. This comes as a bit of a blow to those who see the Cruze as GM's best shot yet at a true import fighter. Sure, sedans always sell better than hatchbacks he…

I was flipping throught channels and somehow ended up on CNN. I beleive it was a story about hybrids that was on. I wasn't really paying attention. At the end of the video clip, it showed what I guess was the Chevy Lambda. It looked like a toned down sequel with the Chevy grill. I have no idea why that would have been on there, but it was there. I'm not crazy, though I'm sure I'll get people telling me that I am. Haha. Ill keep watchign to see if the story repeats. Edit: I was originally thinking it was the SUV, but maybe it was the minivan?

Doing some work on a 1987 Chevy Silverado, and I'm having a rough time finding a good grille. I'm interested in a grille that supports a grille emblem and also has a bar running down the middle much like the 85 chevy model. Is that possible? Any help would be appreciated.

Chevy Camaro, EV, Hybrid, What do you think? Discuss! We are on the cusp of change, change is never liked by all, but is inevitable. With that said, and brought up by other members in some other threads, I felt it was time we had a section to discuss what the future of the Camaro might be. Will it include an EV only powertrain, Hybrid, both and will AWD come to the Camaro? Or due to being a pony car, should it stay ICE only. Sound off on what you think should happen and your thoughts about this!

Just caught a advanced story on the MT first drive. They were impressed even after a shorten run. They liked the styling and vs the Taurus they said it was more quiet, rode better and handled better. Note this was compared to the non SHO model. They noted the car did not feel as tight as it should but it was a hand built preproduction car and they said that is normal and was taken in consideration. They even compared the Taurus as being more Crossover like with its tall roof. They noted that the LTZ is loaded and is much like the Lacrosse in quality of interior. It will also be just over $40,000. The LT model has had a lot of work put into it and it will be very impre…

Google Streetview Camera Car Fleet Set to Invade America Link to Original Article @ Gizmodo A camera-toting tipster saw what appeared to be a giant armada of Chevy Cobalt cars in the Google parking lot, getting ready to take pictures of the entire world (or thereabouts) with special 360° cameras. The tipster says he followed a Google camera van as it cruised back to its Mountain View, California, lair yesterday after that van finished a session of picture taking for Google's Streetview navigation site. Exactly what did he see? It was an entire fleet of at least 30 brand-new Chevy Cobalt cars parked behind the building, most without license plates yet. As you can see i…

You all know GME and Chevy grow closer and closer together. Here's an article from Automotive News that shows just how close. It looks like GM Daewoo is falling under GME's spell. John Revill Automotive News Europe January 21, 06:01 CET General Motors Europe could build Chevrolet cars in Germany and Sweden to meet booming European demand for the brand. GM’s underused factories in Rüsselsheim, Germany, and Trollhättan, Sweden, could begin production of Chevrolet cars within two years, high-level GM sources told Automotive News Europe. Chevrolet aims to double its European sales to 1 million by 2010, Wayne Brannon, head of Chevrolet Europe, told the Financial…

The lengths that automakers go to with camouflaging vehicles continues to amaze us. Case in point, the first spy photos of the next-generation Chevrolet Suburban has hit the internet. General Motors has covered up every surface, including the underside. That's because the new Suburban appears to be ditching the solid rear axle for an independent setup. We know this as a spy photographer found the right spot where there was minimal camouflage and captured it. Why is Chevrolet switching to an IRS setup? It might have to do with the new Ford Expedition which moved to independent rear suspension. A source told Autoblog that Chevrolet wouldn't have fit IRS because it was …

http://www.autoweek.com/news.cms?newsId=103218 That bugs me that GM didn't bother increasing the wheelbases from where they are now. Why? What were they thinking? Manueverability, Schmaneuverability, every other large SUV has a longer wheelbase-and wouldn't it make sense to base Tahoe/Yukon on the same wheelbase as the regular-cab standard (6.5-foot) box like the 1995-99 originals?

I don't know if this has been posted anywhere yet, but I see in the GM parts catalog (I work at a dealership) that the 2012 Impala will be sporting a 3.6 V6 and matching 6 speed transmission. Several other parts are new to go with this, but nothing earth shattering. No changes in appearance that I can tell other than a new choice in 16 inch aluminum wheels.

Some new details about the new 2013 Cruze diesel has been released. Kicking Tires has found out from GM Powertrain spokesman Tom Read, the new engine will be a 2.0L and come turbocharged. In Europe, a turbocharged 2.0L VCDi diesel inline-four that makes 161 HP and 266 lb-ft of torque is found under the hood of the Cruze. This engine could make its way to the U.S., albeit with a few changes. In a press release, GM says the diesel engine is currently undergoing rigorous testing in Michigan, Italy and Germany. The automaker says wants to make sure the engine can operate under a wide range of conditions - including extreme temperatures between minus 40 degrees and 158 degre…

http://leasehackr.com/blog/2015/11/25/epic-leftovers-part-2-lease-the-chevy-cruze-for-37month-0-down FYI, if you do a bit of Googling, you'll see that folks are getting all sorts of amazing lease deals on Cruze. Best I saw on the GM-Volt forum was $28.24/month with $0 drive-off + $700 Costco cash card... so the net cost of the 24 month lease was actually -$22.24. You can follow Leasehackr on Facebook and Twitter for updates on deals.

For those into Corvettes, this might be of interest. I came across these UK magazine test times. I think they show what a showroom car can do. The Camaro convertible is off the table probably for a year as GM tries to save cash and claw its way back to profitability. Analysts predict U.S. car and light truck sales in '09 will be even worse than in '08 and the Chevy Volt and Cruze will have to succeed before GM can spend on such extravagances. Whether the Camaro convertible comes back from the hiatus depends on how well GM weathers the storm. If GM's situation improves, Chevrolet could return the Camaro convertible to its product plans for the 2011 model year, just in time to add a fresh new version of the car. http://www.motortrend.com/features/auto_ne...hold/index.html
