... after 20 years of waiting, I'm a bit disappointed to hear that I won't be getting an El Camino. That GM has given, or plans to give, the VE ute to another brand other than Chevy. I need some time to think this over. So please use this thread to make the case for the Ute as a Chevy,Pontiac, or GMC. I'll just sit back and read for a while. Let's not make it a debate though, just state your position and support it. Thanks.

GMC Moving On Up? William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com May 9, 2011 General Motors has been doing a pretty good job of separating Chevrolet from GMC. The Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia is a good example; the vehicles share a lot of under bits, but have their own identity. GM is now looking to extend that separation between the two brands. GM's president of North America, Mark Reuss did an interview with Automotive News last week. He talked about how GM's approach of using two brands to sell pickups needs to be better executed for the future. Before, GM would price Chevrolet and GMC products similar and have the same incentives. That in …

With the 2017 GMC Acadia becoming slightly smaller and losing a bit of weight, it should come as no surprise that the price has gone down as well. Today, GMC announced that 2017 Acadia would start at $29,995 (includes a $995 destination charge) for the SL model when it hits dealers this spring. This is a decrease of $1,905 from the base price of the 2016 model. If you want all-wheel drive, you'll need to jump up to the SLE which begins at $35,375 (a decrease of $1,725 when compared to the 2016 SLE AWD model). The SLT models begin at $39,275, followed by the All-Terrain at $40,040, and the Denali at $45,845. GMC has increased the amount of standard equipment includ…

GMC introduced the refreshed 2020 GMC Acadia today. The bold new front-end design brings the Acadia more in line with the styling of GMC’s full-size trucks. As with the GMC Sierra 1500 and 2500, the Acadia gains an AT4 trim level that will eventually find its way to all GMC models. The AT4 designation slots between the top-end Denali and the SLT trim line. AT4 comes standard with a 3.6 liter V6 producing 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque. Power is routed to all wheels via a standard twin-clutch AWD system and a now standard across the lineup 9-speed automatic transmission. Additional AT4 features include darkened finished for a more off-road look. Joining the …

Try #2: Motor Trend Confirms GMC Granite William Maley - Editor/Reporter - CheersandGears.com February 21, 2011 Last Summer, Motor Trend confirmed the GMC Granite would be going into production based on statements from Tom Stephens, GM's engineering chief. However, Motor Trend changed it to strongly believes after GM's PR said Stephen's comments were not conformation. Now, Motor Trend is going for try number two with the GMC Granite going into production. This time, they have a source who says the Granite has been given the go. Their source says the Granite will be riding on the delta platform that also underpins the Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze …

I just sent, through Edmunds, price quote requests to 4 local GMC dealers for a 2007 Sierra. We'll see if they are interested in getting back with me, and what kind of discounts they'll offer. Edmunds says I should be able to buy the truck for $600 under MSRP. The truck I spec'd: 2WD regular cab shortbed SLE1 decor package LY5 5.3L engine G80 locking differential, 3.42 ratio SLE1 Preferred Package Stealth Gray with Dark/Light Titanium interior MSRP: $26,460. I have a purchase price, a downpayment, and a monthly payment ceiling in mind. Now I'll wait to see which dealer responds with the best price. Wish me luck.

here DETROIT — General Motors' GMC brand will roll out its first minivan in model-year 2009, according to sources close to the product. Based on the automaker's Lambda architecture, the as-yet-unnamed minivan will be a sibling to the next-generation Chevrolet Uplander as well as a companion to the upcoming GMC Acadia crossover vehicle, Detroit-area suppliers familiar with the company's plans told Inside Line. While the Acadia is aimed at upscale SUV buyers, including empty nesters and affluent younger couples, the GMC minivan will be targeted more at families. To some extent, it will help fill the void left by the discontinued Safari "midi" van. GM hasn't officially a…

Judging by the looks of this prototype, plans for a GMC version of General Motors' updated Theta platform are almost ready for prime-time. Essentially the replacement for the Pontiac Torrent, this cladded-up GMC Terrain prototype reveals a masculine, blocky exterior with good differentiation between it and the forthcoming Chevrolet Equinox successor. A large, quadrangular shield grille stands proud while the blocky bumperette-style outcroppings in the corners give the crossover a bluff looking front end in a bid to reinforce GMC's image as a truck brand. In profile, the crossover has strong, squared-off wheel arches and flares that alleviate its otherwise slab sides, an…

Before the 2018 GMC Terrain hits dealers this summer, the brand has announced pricing for their small crossover. The base Terrain SL FWD will set you back $25,970 (includes a $975 destination charge), or about $1,900 more than the equivalent 2017 model. SL models come with a proximity key with push-button start, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and LED taillights. If you want all-wheel drive, you'll need to step up to the SLE which starts at $30,545. Opting for front-wheel drive on the SLE drops the price to $28,795. Moving up to the SLE also brings the 1.6L turbodiesel as an option. This will set you back $32,565 (FWD) and $34,315 (AWD). SLT models which add hea…

The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra really don't have many traits that set them apart, aside from different front-end styling. But GMC is hoping the new 2019 Sierra, making its debut today, will be able to distinguish itself from its Chevrolet brethren. To do this, GMC has two new features that are exclusive to the Sierra. First is the CarbonPro bed. Optional on the Denali, the bed is comprised of lightweight carbon fiber composite panels for the inner panels and floor. Not only does it promise "best-in-class dent, scratch and corrosion resistance", it also drop 62 pounds out of the Sierra's curb weight. Second is the MultiPro Tailgate that offers "six unique func…

SPIED: '12 GMC Terrain Denali - NO Camo! It looks like GM was hoping to hide this 2012 Terrain Denali in plain view today, roaming around Detroit with NO camouflage at all! Once the engineer behind the wheels saw our camera, however, he made a quick get-away! Up front, it's very easy to see the Denali-style grille. Though we're pretty sure that grille will be chrome once this vehicle starts production. In back, we can see a new square, chrome exhaust tip. Along the rocker panels, we can see exposed fastener holes where we assume some Denali-specific trim will eventually be installed. Bright finish, Denali wheels should also on the list. GMC has given us a peak of the upcoming electric Sierra pickup truck which will launch only in a Denali Trim and being the third all-electric auto in the GMC Portfolio. According to GMC Vice President Duncan Aldred, the Denali Trim line holds tremendous equity for GMC and their customers being one of the most popular trims sold. To quote the VP: “We now have an opportunity to evolve Sierra’s capabilities and technologies, as afforded by transitioning to an all-electric propulsion while also elevating the luxurious design and comfort associated with Denali.” The electric Sierra will be purposefully built on the Ultium Platform with premium…

According to this article, the Tundra is estimated to be outselling the GMT900 Sierra 1500. Nearly 20 years ago, GMC decided to create a luxury version of its Yukon SUV called the Denali by putting on some chrome wheels and leather upholstery. Today, Denali is available on most of GMC's lineup and makes up 25 percent of total sales. It also makes GMC a lot of money. Motor Authority reports that the Denali trim gives GMC highest transaction price of any non-luxury brand in the industry. To put it another way, if GMC was its own automaker, it would be ranked 150th in the Fortune 500 list. How is this possible? You only need to look at GMC's top vehicles. Close to three out of four Yukons sold are Denali with price tags beginning at $65,000 and climbing. 50 pe…

Here is some food for thought: over 50 percent of Yukon/Yukon XL models sold are Denalis. A pretty nice number and one that makes a fair amount of profit for GMC. But that also means GMC needs to keep Denali models up to date to keep those sales up. For 2018, GMC is making some updates to the Denali trim for the Yukon family. First up is a new multidimensional chrome grille featuring grille shutters to improve fuel economy. "The new grille, which is flanked by HID headlamps and LED Signature Lighting, advances the design legacy established with the very first Yukon Denali in 1999. It’s a more exciting and sophisticated design, while remaining instantly recognizabl…

The crossovers would be smaller than the Saturn Vue and marketed under different brands in North America, Europe and possibly emerging markets such as Russia, India and China. Coming Crossover Shakeup at GMC Acadia and Terrain both getting downsized Conceptualization by Andrew Currie of Sector329Graphics.com February 15th, 2011 Drew Dowdell - CheersandGears.com If you like the GMC Acadia for it's full size SUV roominess, you better grab it now while it's still full size. A few weeks ago during ourreview of the 2011 GMC Acadia Denali, we wondered aloud in the review about the relevance of that top shelf GMC Crossover when there was an equally luxurious, yet more curvy Buick Enclave sitting in the same showroom. The GMC Acadia AT4 pricing has been released and it will start at $42,495, just $500 more than an SLT with all-wheel drive. The next jump up is a big one, an astounding $7,000 more to get into an Acadia Denali. The AT4 has some advantages over the SLT and Denali. First, it comes with AWD standard, and second and most importantly, it comes with a much more powerful engine as standard. Both the SLT and Denali get the 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder rated for 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The AT4 however, gets the 310 horsepower 271 lb-ft V6. In addition to the extra hardware, the AT4 comes with black chrome on the grille, special wheels, and all-terrain tires. …

GMC caused a stir in 2016 when it downsized the Acadia in 2017 from its previous near-Yukon length. That downsize brought the Acadia down to be inline in size with the contemporary Jeep Grand Cherokee. In the years since, the Grand Cherokee has grown and GMC is matching that with the 2024 GMC Acadia. Inches matter in this class and in that the Acadia gains (back) 10.6 inches in length and 3.2 inches in height. That equates to 80% more space behind the third row and 36% more space behind the second row. The biggest news is with the powertrain. The naturally aspirated V6 is gone from the lineup and now all Acadias are powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4. This e…

Well at least it was a GMC Envoy that was the last built model. However, I don't personally like the fact that GM had to choose the 23rd to end production of these trucks (my birthday). What hurt them was the lack of dollars spent on updates - while the '06 refresh brought some minor upgrades, it wasn't enough. If they received a new interior in '06, with the new radios (blacktie) I would have looked at getting another one. But since these trucks have been on the market since spring of 2001, they basically soldiered on for 8 years without changes (wheels, colors, minor exterior trim updates are about it). I know many of the posters on here did not like the Envoy, b…

Terrain? As long as that terrain is no more challenging than a pebble in the asphalt. The Skoda Yeti offers a variety of engines and transmissions, and in the 4WD model, offers differential locks, for piece of mind even if you're only on an uneven sand trail back to your favorite beach spot. Terrain has about a $13,000 price differential between base 4 cylinder FWD models and loaded V6 AWD models, yet it offers not much variety in drivetrain options, nor is it even pretending to be useful offroad. To me GMC is wasting an opportunity to be professional grade here. I like the looks of the Terrain, even if it is a bit too low to the ground. A vehicle sold here in the s…

It seems somewhat odd that GMC doesn't have a subcompact/entry-level crossover like its sister brands Buick and Chevrolet. Speaking with Automotive News at the media launch of the GMC Terrain, the head of Buick and GMC Duncan Aldred said a model that is smaller and less-expensive than the Terrain is "a logical place" for the brand to expand. "To me, there is more room for SUVs in the GMC stable. An obvious place for GMC to be if it expands is that small SUV segment," said Aldred. Small crossovers have become one of the hottest segments in the past few years with various automakers throwing their hat into the ring. Aldred admitted that GMC "should have been first…

At an event in Vail, Colorado today, GMC took the wraps off the 2021 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. As before, the top of the Yukon lineup will be the Denali trim, but joining the Denali for the first time is the brand's new AT4 trim which is a more off-road ready version. The Yukon gets an all-new interior while the Denali gets its own exclusive version. The Denali instrument panel is completely new and there are also unique seats and four color themes. Real wood trims with a natural look and texture join with a Denali only leather, hand-stitched interior. For the driver, there is a 15-inch diagonal multicolor heads-up display. On the Denali, AT4, and SLT trims, there…

There is a growing number of automakers who are announcing plans to electrify their lineup, while others are considering it. GMC is the latter category according to a new report from CNBC. “Certainly, it’s something we’re considering," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC when asked if there was the possibility of an electric Sierra. Aldred wouldn't say much more than that except mentioning that General Motors CEO Mary Barra has already made comments about "an all-electric future." It wouldn't be surprising if an all-electric Sierra sparks an all-electric Chevrolet Silverado since they are basically the same truck, allowing GM to take advantage of eco…

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Featu...rticleId=107544 I believe this is the first time that we've seen an extended cab GMT-900 pickup, all the other spy shots have been the crew cab. The front end does look different from the Yukon, adding to what insiders have said about the pickups looking much different from the SUVs.

I'm sorry I didn't find this truck last weekend during the 20% off Black Friday Sale. One option I wasn't considering is the 22" tires & rims ($3k option!! :-O ). Looking for input on this option (22" tires) - other than being an expensive-to-replace tire, anyone have any knowledge about the ride quality and handling characteristics of this size tire? I like everything else about this truck.

A few weeks ago, based on some findings on GM's order guide, we reported that GMC would soon be announcing Graphite and Graphite Performance editions of the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL. These new trims would mirror the RST and RST Performance Editions available on the Chevrolet Tahoe RST and Chevrolet Suburban RST. Today, the official release is out. For 2019, the Graphite Edition is an appearance package that offered darkened trim and grille, special wheels, and black roof rails. Stepping from Graphite to Graphite Performance Edition gains the buyer: 6.2L V-8 engine. 10-speed automatic transmission. Magnetic Ride…

GM @ Middle East Intl. Motor Show 2008 GMC Terrain Link to Original Article @ DriveArabia The 2007 Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai played host to its very own “world premiere” by General Motors. The new vehicle is the 2008 GMC Terrain for the Middle East market. Of course, this new compact 4WD is already on sale in Europe as the Opel Antara. The softroader is largely based on the Korean-built Chevy Captiva, so we expect similar engine options. It rounds off the GMC line-up perfectly, since the expensive Acadia is too large for most people.

GMC is working towards differentiating itself from Chevrolet with products. The new Canyon and full-size SUVs show this with different designs and more upscale interior appointments. But General Motors is considering giving GMC its own product. GM global product chief Mark Reuss tells Automotive News that the company is working on a model that will be for GMC only. Reuss didn't give any details about the new model, but did cite the brand's potential to appeal to appeal to non-GM customers and the strong prices that GMC models carry. So what could this new model be? A car? Most likely not. GM global design chief Ed Welburn says the GMC's design studio is "as busy as it's…

Anyone here know if the GMC Canyon (and Colorado) are scheduled for an update for 2007? I know some of our insiders have seen the new models coming out over the next 30 months, and I was wondering if the Canyon was getting an exterior and maybe an interior upgrade. I'm hoping for something that makes it more differentiated from the Colorado this time. Something like this: 2003 SEMA Show - GMC Canyon AT4 Also, does anyone know if a performance version (a'la Syclone) is in the works too? I'd love to find out GMC is bringing out a sport-performance Canyon, even if they had to call it Canyon Denali I'd still be happy. TIA for teh info!! :)

Memorial: GMC Syclone And Typhoon
by Guest YellowJacket894- 21 replies

In 1989 GMC stuffed a turbocharged 3.8 liter V6 engine from the legendary 1987 Buick Grand National into an all-wheel drive equipped GMC S-15 engine bay to create the GMC Syclone concept for the Chicago Auto Show. The truck generated favorable interest and people were wondering if a production version was coming. I think we all know the answer to that. In 1990, GM gave the Syclone a thumbs-up. In 1991, the Syclone ripped its way to dealer lots (with a turbo 4.3 V6 instead of the 3.8 GN powerplant). The public's response was great and GMC soon shoehorned the Syclone's turbo 4.3 into the two-door S-15 Jimmy body. The result was the Typhoon. The purpose here is to …

Acadian Allure GMC's new crossover builds interest with women By LAURA CLARK GEIST | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS Link to Original Article @ AutoWeek | Published 03/19/07, 1:38 pm et Click here to view Acadia's launch commercial, 'Inspiration' GMC's TV commercials traditionally have featured pickups and SUVs plowing through work sites and deserts, as gravel-voiced announcers addressed a distinctly male audience. So I'm confused. How big exactly is this Acadia? I mean I guess I kinda know as I saw the Enclave at the Chicago Auto show, but they are calling it a crossover??? Seems to be big enough and have the amenities to just be another SUV. Besides that, is this going to be replacing/phasing out the Envoy or selling alongside it? If it is replacing the Envoy(and Rainer with the Enclave), then what is Chevy going to do about the trailblazer? We've only heard of the 3 vehicles(GMC, Saturn, Buick). My wife has a 2003 Envoy now and she loves it, just wondering what her next SUV/Crossover will be now as she will only buy GM. Someone please clarify this for me.

The Sierra purchase and subsequent service relationship with "my" BPG dealership was all positive from day one. I wonder what would happen if I went in there this fall and ordered a 2010 Canyon SLE1 extended cab 4X4 5 cylinder with posi and power convenience package in that new gray-green color with tan interior. I still appreciate chrome bumpers on a pickup truck, and Colorado is all about the body-color bumpers unless I go full-tilt Z71, which I am scared of due to MSRP loftiness.

It was reported a couple of days ago over at autoblog that the next GMC Acadia is to debut at the upcoming Chicago Auto Show; however, they have now posted an update to the article that states the Acadia is to receive a mid-cycle enhancement (MCE) only: I kind of think it's a little late for a MCE at this point... the Acadia has been available for 6 years now (on sale in 2006 as a 2007 model), and if a new version is coming for 2013, is it really a good idea to spend that kind of money for a one year deal? Of course the bad news could be that the current Acadia (and Enclave) stick around with this MCE for another couple of years. Your thoughts? Source: autoblog

We just bought her a new 12 Terrain SLT-2 in Mocha Steel with all the options including the 19" wheels less AWD. We have been checking them out for a while. We started looking at the Nox but delayed it as we moved and did some building at the new home. Now that we have gotten through winter we went out to check on what we could do on a deal for a Terrain. Neither of us liked the Terrain when it came out but the larger wheels filling up the wheel;wells made made us take interest. We got a pretty good deal at of all things a GMC only dealer. VP of Global Buick and GMC Duncan Aldred had this to say about the GMC Sierra Denali EV truck: “This is the Denali of EVs — and a truck that is every bit a GMC,” “That means it leaves nothing on the table when it comes to hauling, towing and overall power while unlocking even more possibilities around what a GMC pickup can offer.” GMC will lead the industry in not only having two trucks but also the GMC Hummer SUV and in 2025 you will be able to order a GMC Sierra AT4 EV and …

I got my April issue of C&D yesterday, and they had a short review of the Denali. For the most part, they liked it a lot. They said the new 6-speed was almost always very smooth and was happy to downshift two or three ratios. They attained 20 MPG on the highway over some streches, even at near 80MPH. They averaged 12MPG throughout the test. They love the Autoride and said it feels "impossibly solid and composed and, at the same time, comfortably compliant." Performance was really surprising to me, considering that GM says the Escalade does 0-60 in 6.8s and C&D got 6.2 in the Denali. The 1/4 mile was also surprising: 15.0s at 94MPH. That's faster than a V8…

A few months back, we reported on a story dealing with possible future products for GMC. One of those products being bandied about was a competitor to the Jeep Wrangler. Well it seems this idea has some legs at GM as a report from the Wall Street Journal says GM has spoken to its dealers about this. Speaking with a several sources, the Journal reports that GM talked to its dealers about the possibility of a GMC product that would borrow cues and off-road credentials from the defunct Hummer brand. Dealers were asked to provide feedback and do some research to help the company make a decision of whether or not to go forward with it. “The idea is being kicked around real h…

The Ford SVT Raptor currently rules the roost when it comes to off-road trucks. But it seems no one wants to take it head on. Instead, a number of truck manufacturers are introducing models with some modest upgrades to tackle the trail - Ram 1500 Rebel and Toyota TRD Pro. GMC is the latest automaker to join the latter group with the 2016 Sierra All Terrain X. Unlike the Rebel and TRD Pro, the All Terrain X isn't a separate model. Instead, it's a set of packages available on the Sierra 1500 Crew Cab equipped with four-wheel drive. It begins by equipping the truck with the All Terrain package that includes the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, an Eaton rear-locki…

There's not much to show of it, but GMC announce that the GMC Canyon AT4 would be coming in early 2020 at an event in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The AT4 package is a ruggedized look that falls between the SLT and Denali in GMC's lineup. Right now, AT4 is only available on the GMC Sierra 1500, Sierra HD, and the 2020 GMC Acadia. On the Acadia, the AT4 package is simply an appearance package. On the Sierra, it actually adds a 2-inch lift kit in and red recovery hooks. GMC has promised that every vehicle in the lineup will get an AT4 package (though we doubt that is true for the Savana), leaving the Terrain, Canyon, and Yukon as the holdouts. The AT4 package on the…
